Saturday November 9 2013 Miss Kitty’s-Saloon

Buck Stone Wow. I apologize in advance that this a long read but its necessary. This weekend was truly the most amazing experience of my life. Oh where to begin.... First, Thurs. Oct. 31- We had a meet and greet for contestants followed by a Halloween Party & Show. Many contestants got to mingle and come out and celebrate. A great time was had by all. I got to sport the new beautiful shirt that Catia Lee Love had sent me for my step down. Friday Nov.1 - Eight wonderful contestants competed for Mr. American National Star 2014. Big congrats to our winner- George Johnson. And thank you ‘GEO’ for staying to judge the Miss competition the following evening. Emotions ran high as I stepped down as Mr. ANS Emeritus. It filled my heart with joy to see so many supporters of the system in the crowd. And when I thought I was done the number and turned around to see my 8 gentlemen and the rest of the ANS court smiling and tipping me, I was overwhelmed with the greatest feeling ever. I did it! Sat. Nov. 2- Eight lovely ladies battled it out for the Miss ANS 2014 title. Jazmyn Turrelle- Miss ANS Emeritus was stunning and poised in her step down. Once I again I cried and cried as she made her final walk. I knew we had shared so many moments this past year that would change our lives and that of others forever. I was so very proud of Jazmyn and congrats to our winner- Miss ANS 2014- Charnay M. Cassadine. You will have a fabulous reign doll! Sun. Nov. 3- We had our contestant luncheon at Miss Kitty’s. The majority of our contestants for the weekend and their guests came out to enjoy a short meeting and announcements. It is here that I announced that I am taking over as the National Promoter for American National

Star Pageantry. Thank you to Clark Austin for believing in me and handing over the reigns to me on such an amazing thing that I call my home and my family. Lunch was followed by registration and then interview for the Mr. Butch & Miss Femme 2014 ANS contest. 7 contestants came out to compete for these 2 titles. We opened the pageant that evening with a perfomance by our new Miss ANS and then the contestants from the other two evenings who were in attendance did a walk. We also celebrated the birthdays of Jay Gable and Sista Philsbury. Jazmyn and Kris Kohl did a wonderful job emceeing with me that evening. Congrats to our Miss Femme ANS Emeritus winner- Tareal Phillips and Mr. Butch ANS Emeritus winnerKristian Kyler. Contestants- If you didn’t get your comment and scoresheets back this weekend, I do have them and can send them to you or meet you if you are local very soon. The master score sheets will be posted this weekend hopefully once I get the PDF files from our head scorer. Big thanks to our judges panel that was with us all 3 nights of the competitionDominique Sanchez, Frank Butler, Damian

Matrix, and head judge Tiffany Bonet for doing an excellent job. My advice to all of our contestants is to take time to review your comment sheets and feel free to contact the judges for further feedback. Huge thanks to Miss Kitty’s and manager Veronica Duvall for hosting us this weekend as well as the staff of the LaQuinta Inn Conference Center in Downtown Little Rock for being so hospitable to our contestants, promoters, and staff. Now at the luncheon as well on final night plans were discussed for the next year of ANS. Our board of directors will be announced within the next 30 days. Our national court - Kris Kohl, Charnay Cassadine, Geo, Tareal Phillips, and Kristian Kyler is complete. Will be talking with each of them in a few days to go over their actions plans for their reigns. Please watch facebook for upcoming dates and information about prelims and workshops! Once again thanks to our promoters- Clark Austin, Kris Kohl, Den Burdette, John Richard Griffey, and Jeffrey Ogle for all their hardwork and dedication to the “System where you can be YOU”, aka American National Star. Nikki Woodley did an awesome job as backstage manager also this weekend. I could not have done it without her. Well I think that’s enough of a novel for today. Remember BUCK-A-ROOS to always Hold on to YOUR dream!

On average, men in the United States live sicker and shorter lives than their female counter parts. They face significantly higher rates of heart disease, cancer, suicide and especially HIV and AIDS. Despite making up less than half of the overall population, men account for three out of every four people living with HIV in the U.S. This is driven mostly by the impact that HIV continues to have on gay and bisexual men, especially young gay men of color. In 2010, gay and bisexual men accounted for 63% of estimated new HIV infections in the U.S. and 78% among all men generally. From 2008 to 2010, new HIV infections increased 22% among young gay men and 12% among gay men overall. During the month of November, guys across the country are putting down their razors and growing out their facial hair to increase awareness about serious health issues facing men, from prostate and testicular cancer to mental health and depression. This month, NMAC and AID Upstate are asking you to do the same, and help us spark a larger conversation about the need for men to take control of their overall sexual health!
