Big or small, local businesses are the backbone of the community and are crucial to its success. Local businesses create jobs and contribute greatly to the municipal tax base, which in turn supports economic growth, infrastructure and community programs. Local business owners are part of our community, and provide unending support for charitable causes, recreational endeavors and health initiatives.
First Vice Chair & Secretary/ Treasurer Gordon Jahn, MNP
By shopping locally in Prince Albert, you are doing more than just buying a product or service. You are helping to keep jobs and investment in the larger community. You are helping your community grow and thrive.
Elected Board Members Ian Litzenberger, Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy

Get on board, Sign the Safety Charter Have you ever heard of a Safety Charter? Safe Saskatchewan is committed to helping you and your families have not only a safe work day, but also be safe at home or in the community. To do this they have developed a “Safety Charter.” Yes we all need to comply with various pieces of provincial and federal regulations. These regulations ensure our safety, but that’s really what the law tells us we can or cannot do. The Safety Charter is not another piece of regulation. It is not something mandated by some agency it is a change in the way you and I think about being safe. The Safety Charter puts into writing a culture or mindset in way we think about safety. The Safety Charter encourages everyone in the workplace to be part of a movement to make safety as routine as putting on shoes to go outside. It is fundamental shift in our thinking. Here is some of the Safe Saskatchewan history behind the safety charter.
“The purpose of the Saskatchewan Health & Safety Leadership Charter is to form the foundation for a cultural shift in the way Saskatchewan leaders view injuries and injury prevention. The Charter advocates for the continuous improvement of healthy and safe workplaces and communities. After signing the Charter, leaders are invited to join the Leadership Learning Community and continue the discussion.” Safe Sask web site
A number of Prince Albert business leaders like Parkland Ambulance Care, Prince Albert Coop, Prince Albert & District Chamber of Commerce, Northern Lights Casino, City of Prince Albert and others have already signed on. “Signing the Charter is one way you can showcase your commitment to this worthy cause and connect with other leaders who feel the same way. Once you sign the Charter, there are expectations placed on you as a leader, but there are also expectations of the organizers to help you measure and monitor your own organization’s injury prevention awareness and connect you with the leadership learning community. This is all part of helping you, an ambassador of the Charter, actualize the Charter principles and make a difference.” Safe Sask web site
In May 2016 there will be a Prince Albert Charter signing event. Business leaders will be encouraged to sign onto the Charter. You will hear more in the upcoming months but if you would like to learn more contact one of the business leaders named previous or Gord Moker from Safe Saskatchewan at gmoker@safesask.com. Join the movement and get on board! December 2015
