BOARD OF DIRECTORS A Message from the CEO, Larry Fladager Congratulations to Frank Dunn, owner of Frank Dunn Toyota and Frank Dunn Trailer Sales in Prince Albert. A long-time business owner in Prince Albert, Mr. Dunn is a deserving recipient of the Legacy Award for both his work in business and as a supporter of the local community. Mr. Dunn, a former competitive athlete who studied commerce at the University of Calgary, came to Prince Albert as a child with his family in 1958. He is continuing his family’s legacy of entrepreneurship with his own businesses, including Frank Dunn Toyota and Frank Dunn Trailer Sales. You can learn more about Frank Dunn on Page 4 and by joining us March 24 at the annual Legacy Brunch at the Prince Albert Travelodge. Tickets are just $15 and we hope to see many of our members in attendance. The Legacy Brunch will also feature the announcement of the finalists for the 26th Annual Samuel McLeod Business Awards. More than 25 finalists will be announced in 10 categories. This year’s event will see a new look for the awards program. After 25 years, we thought the logo and awards needed an update and we worked with Simon Idir, a local designer, to create a new look.
Finalists for the Samuel McLeod Business Awards will be announced March 24 at the annual Legacy Brunch. The Samuel McLeod Business Awards will be held April 21. This year's awards event will see the unveiling of a new look for the awards as well. The final design will be kept under wraps until the awards gala April 21, but will continue to be a testament to the support and generosity of Samuel McLeod, one of Prince Albert's first community leaders.

The Prince Albert & District Chamber of Commerce, together with the Samuel McLeod Business Awards committee, is pleased to announce that Frank Dunn has been named the 2015 Legacy Award recipient. A longtime business owner in Prince Albert, Mr. Dunn will be recognized Thursday, March 24 at the annual Legacy Brunch sponsored by Scotiabank and the Northern Lights Casino. Moving from Victoria, BC, Frank Dunn came to Prince Albert as a child with his family in 1958. The family came to Prince Albert to operate what became known as McGavin’s Toastmaster Bakery, before branching out to take over the Imperial Oil bulk station in 1965 and later, a trailer sales business. The family also dabbled in other ventures, including milking machines and Suzuki motorcycles before bringing the Toyota franchise to Prince Albert in 1971. Frank Dunn Toyota remains one of only a handful of franchises across the country that is still operated by the original family of owners. In 1977, Frank Dunn Jr. returned to Prince Albert after studying at the University of Calgary. A competitive diver, he won CIAUs and Nationals and was named Athlete of the Year in 1975 at the University of Calgary. He was an alternate Olympian diver for the 1976 Olympics. Over the years, Frank has coached competitive diving and gymnastics in both Prince Albert and Calgary. While his business locations changed a few times over the years, the Dunn family’s dedication to great service and community support never has. Frank’s father was instrumental in the construction of the Frank J. Dunn Pool, the city’s first indoor pool and diving tank. A believer in making your community the best it can be, Frank Dunn has continued that support and was instrumental in starting the annual Frank Dunn Triathlon, one of the country’s longest-running events. Mr. Dunn was given the Builder Award by the Saskatchewan Triathlon Association in 2013 and was recognized in 2005 with the Keith Russell Award for his work as a gymnastics coach. The annual Legacy Brunch will also feature the announcement of the finalists for the Samuel McLeod Business Awards. More than 30 finalists in 10 categories will be recognized as part of the event. The 26th Annual Samuel McLeod Business Awards Gala will be held April 21.
