Behind The Scenes Didier Agueh Executive Host and Artistic Director

Alberto Sanna Bar Manager

I have always loved the Spring with its promises of longer and sunnier days. Even though we have managed to fill the long, cold winter nights with fantastic parties supported by a range of talented artists, we are greatly looking forward to this new season.

Spring is on its way, a great time for the bar team to get inspired by sunny flavours – tropical fruits, fresh herbs and zingy colours – the best time of year for creating new cocktails!

This Spring soul music will be featuring heavily on the listings with new events such as ‘We Love...Stevie Wonder’ with Roberto Angrisani, an amazing Italian singer and his top band. We will continue with our popular classic events with our Marvin Gaye night with Wayne Hernandez, a multi-talented performer with a silky voice and Curtis Scott and Deborah will revive all the magic of Tamla Motown. We are also proud to support “Walk the Walk” during Ladies Night in May, a wonderful charity raising money for breast cancer in the UK. Especially for the occasion, we are creating the Moonwalk cocktail which will be on sale on the night, with the profits going to the charity. We are happy to see audiences growing in PRIMO and receiving encouraging feedback from all our guests. We do hope you will enjoy our entertainment and look forward to you becoming PRIMO Bar regulars!

The team and I have been scouring some of London’s hottest cocktail bars for inspiration, Callooh Callay, 69 Colebrook Row and more and we will soon be bringing you a delicious new raft of concoctions to see in the sunnier days. In the meantime, to carry you through the last remaining winter days, our cocktail of the month is the warming Ginger Bramble – Ginger is not only a great natural cold remedy but it is also a powerful aphrodisiac so enjoy with caution! If you haven’t tried our signature Plaza Royal either, I highly recommend it – a fruity mix of pomegranate, elderflower and Champagne. Top tips for the coming months are to check out the brand new London Dungeons, now open at County Hall and the London Marathon will be passing by the hotel on 21st April this year. We are happy to announce we are partnering with Walk the Walk breast cancer awareness charity in May for a special Ladies Night and have a host of exciting new musical artists for you to enjoy too. I hope to see you all soon at PRIMO Bar, and welcome to Spring from all of us!

Cocktail Of The Month Alberto’s Choice... Ginger Bramble Ingredients: Fresh ginger infused Gin Fresh lemon juice Sugar Chambord

How to prepare: Fill a lowball glass to the brim with crushed ice and let it chill. Shake together all the ingredients except the Chambord in a chilled martini shaker. Empty the lowball glass, refill with crushed ice to the top then strain over the cocktail. Top up with Chambord to create a bleeding effect, finish with the blueberry as a garnish and two straws. The Bramble was one of the most popular London drink created by Dick Bradsell in the 1980s at Fred’s Club in Soho. Since then The Bramble has featured on every quality cocktail list in the UK. “Spring is the most exciting month to invent new cocktails, everything is fresh, new colourful Alberto, Bar Manager and tastes of sunshine.”

Interview with Patrick Alan How did you start your career in the music industry? I was a pro-

fessional dancer first and foremost but my mother always wanted me to sing because she had taught me from when I was little. It only made perfect sense that I would become a singer after I got tired of my dancing career… I owe it all to God and my mother and from being bored with dance!

Over ten years ago you started the legendary Music Box Live nights. Can you explain to us how you came about the idea? As a vocalist with a need to express my artistic side, a need we all seem to have being singers and artists, I started these nights to give all the artists in LA and around a place to get up and sing… I honed my ability to put on these types of live shows in LA to give us singers and musicians

a place to hone our craft and let our hair down creatively to a packed out house full of industry giants that would scout us and give us work and other opportunities that we wouldn’t get elsewhere… You have collaborated and performed with many top artists. Which one is your best memory? Dancing with Michael Jackson was one of the best experiences of my life… You organize the monthly Open Mic Night at Primo Bar. What is the concept and can anyone participate? We are a little selective of who we put up, but if they are a serious artist or have the desire to perform you can usually feel that coming off them right away. So, some walk-ups are ok, but I usually invite maybe 70-80% of the singers who get up on the mic to perform each night, personally… Are you surprised sometimes with the performance of some of the singers? No and yes… It’s always a surprise when someone out-does themselves and brings down the house but I expect that because there is always

someone who ends up becoming a house-hold name. I mean it really happens a lot! There’s some amazing talent out there in the UK and all over actually! God has always allowed me to be a part of some amazing people’s lives and I am really grateful to God for everything in my life.

Atila

Rodrigo Panassolo

La Voix

The late jazz legend Sir John Dankworth predicted “a very bright future with the possibility of Atila’s name eventually ending up in lights” and still in his midtwenties, Atila has gone on to establish himself as one of Britain’s most exciting vocal talents.

Rodrigo Panassolo is a musician, composer and music producer. “Versos Dobrados” (Folded Verses) is the name of his first original record. In this initial production, Rodrigo presents compositions that generate a dialogue with an aesthetic unity and language, traveling through several genres and styles, and promoting the meeting of authentic Brazilian songs with musical freedom and improvisation concept of Jazz.

International drag performer “La Voix” brings her brand new show to Westminster’s hottest nightspot. This musical show brings together comedy, anecdotes and stories from the rich career of this glamorous performer.

“One of London’s finest new vocal talents for 2009” – BBC London TV.
