Behind The Scenes Didier Agueh Executive Host and Artistic Director

I love London whether it’s cold or mild, grey or sunny, windy or rainy. It always has an electric atmosphere that makes you forget about the weather and simply enjoy the city. In this sports frenzied period of football, Wimbledon and the Tour De France, the whole city feels ebullient and reminds me of the spirit of summer 2012. In July I would recommend the City of London Festival with attractions and games taking place in some of the city’s key locations. Hyde Park is hosting an exciting programme of music and entertainment at Barclaycard’s British Summer Time with artists from Tom Jones to the Libertines and many other different genres. In August enjoy great outdoor film screenings within the grounds of Somerset House and if you’re around, don’t miss London’s samba-fuelled festival – the Notting Hill Carnival, the city’s biggest street party attended by thousands from all over the world! Of course in Primo Bar we have prepared a great entertainment program to celebrate sunny days in our “cool” venue… We are excited to introduce our new residency - the talented Chris Royal was a ‘Team Ricky’ semi-finalist from The Voice UK 2014. Following on from the success of our past salsa evenings, we are bringing back “Primo Tango”. Every last Wednesday of the month (excluding August) take part in relaxed classes with some of UK’s finest teachers and this romantic, energetic dance. Enjoy your summer, get outdoors, recharge your batteries and if you fancy a fun night out you know where we are…

Amit Pathak Bar Manager I have recently joined the Primo Bar team, after 12 years experience in the hospitality industry working in a variety of venues and with so many interesting cultures. I ’ m e x c i t e d t o b e w o r ki n g w i th a multicultural team of fantastic mixologists and cocktail bartenders, who all work hard to surprise and entertain our guests with innovative cocktails and a daily programme of free live music and comedy. I look forward to welcoming you to Primo this summer, whether you are meeting a friend after work or celebrating with colleagues.

Interview with CHRIS ROYAL TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND? WHAT ARE YOUR INFLUENCES? I’m a singer / songwriter originally from Manchester. My influences are mainly black music and life, they both inspire me to write and perform. HOW DID YOU GET INTO SINGING? I’ve always wanted to sing from a young age. I’ve been singing professionally since the age of 18, working with the Manchester sing-out choir singing at weddings and corporate events... I have had the opportunity to share the stage with some amazing people from Neyo, Josh Groban, Edwin Hawkings and T Pain amongst others. HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE YOUR STYLE? I would say my style is relaxed, mellow, Neo Soul.

WHO ARE YOUR FAVOURITE SINGERS? My favourite singers are Anthony Hamilton, Donny Hathaway and Mariah Carey HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE VOICE UK 2014? My experience in the VoiceUK 2014 was amazing I learnt a lot of things and it made me stronger and more confident about going out there. It’s really driven me to achieve more. Appearing on the show has made me confront my own insecurities. I’m quite a shy person, but the reaction has been good. Being part of Team Ricky also boosted my confidence as I felt Wilson had my back. If he was my older brother and I was being bullied at school, he would be the person to sort things out.

The reason I picked him is because he came across as a really genuine human being. CAN YOU EXPLAIN WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM YOUR PERFORMANCES AT PRIMO? From my performance at Primo Bar you can expect a lot of Soul and most of all something you can enjoy and have fun listening too! Chris Royal will be performing on: Saturday 12 July from 9pm Saturday 16 August from 9pm
