2022 Pulse Nightclub Memorial Observance

Saturday, June 11 300 Block of North Main, Downtown Bloomington Photos by Justin Hurt Prairie Pride Coalition, the Bistro and McLean County Moms Demand Action Against Gun Violence are co-sponsors of this event that memorializes the people who died at the 2016 Pulse Nightclub shootings in Orlando. This outdoor observance included the reading of the 49 victim names, performances and words of reflection. Attendees stood in the street on chalk-drawn hearts and held signs with names of the people lost on June 12, 2016, when a shooter entered the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando and produced the deadliest incident in the history of violence against the LGBTQIA+ community. Fifty-three additional people were injured that evening in an act that also targeted the Latinx community.
