What does it mean to be
MADE IN BRITAIN IN 2022?
The Made in Britain stamp has long been synonymous with quality, heritage and industry leading standards. The UK proudly led the way in many sectors of manufacturing; paving the paths for success in textiles, transport and more. Unfortunately, some years ago many industries began to move towards overseas manufacture in favour of cheaper trade. Without pointing fingers, essentially many of the ‘big guns’ in the UK sold off British manufacturing, one piece of machinery at a time. The sad truth is that many people, especially in this struggling economic climate, don’t consider the many factors that surround a product; such as longevity, durability, function and provenance… not just price point. Still today, the Made in Britain label holds great value with consumers and manufacturers alike - and with good reason. TruDomes is proud to be a part of the Made in Britain collective, a marque that represents a standard of quality, prestige and unity for the British manufacturing sector. They wanted to delve deeper into the question of what it means to be made in Britain in 2022. Tru-Brit It’s important to remember that when you buy a product that is manufactured in Britain (and we mean manufactured in Britain, not just designed!), you are not just supporting one company; you are supporting
06 l
a whole supply chain. You are supporting an industry and our British economy, as well as promoting long-term overseas business relations and exports. TruDomes takes great pride in knowing their geodesic domes inside out – from start to finish – something that is difficult to achieve when you choose to source manufacturing from another country. A stronger, better and more sustainable product TruDomes frames are manufactured using aircraft grade aluminium. Aluminium is part of our everyday world; from the foil that your favourite burrito comes in to the golf clubs that you haul around eighteen holes. However, although aluminium is commonly spotted in every day objects, not all aluminium is the same. Aircraft grade aluminium has a superior strength threshold, higher resistance to corrosion, and has the same composition as alloys used in many aircrafts. Aluminium also happens to be a sustainable metal, often referred to as the ‘green metal’ because of its eco friendly nature. 2020 was a year that the world as a whole navigated uncertainty, amidst a global
www.glampingbusiness.com
pandemic, and we continue to do so in 2022 (sigh). People in the UK are travelling less and spending more time at home, and in doing so this has highlighted the importance of our British trade. Aside from conspiracy theorists and the toilet roll hoarding saga… the pandemic has brought to light some important issues that we face in the modern day. As people continue to become more connected and more informed through online media and international news, many people are sparing more thought and concern for ethical issues and the question of sustainability. When you support British manufacturing, you make a statement of support for fair and decent wages for workers, equality at work, good safety standards and regulations and a reduction in environmental impact. The TruDomes team bring together over 30 years of British manufacturing expertise from the heart of England - something worth boasting about? Absolutely. TruDomes.com

A World in
HARMONY Harmony Domes brought European made geodesic domes to America for local accessibility The founder of Harmony Domes, Vas, expanded his family’s European made geodesic domes to the Americas. Part owner of the dome manufactory, Vas lived in the United States for some time owning a successful transportation company. Over this time, the founder questioned the lack of geodesic dome structures in the U.S., especially the lack of hospitality accommodations. Aware of the opportunity before him, Vas organized his Americas team. Quickly brought out of necessity from the pandemic, Harmony Domes began renting and selling geodesic domes to restaurant and hospitality businesses in 2020. Not until April 1st, 2021, did the Harmony Domes showroom officially open for a touchpoint, where customers could visit and experience a few different size domes prior to making their large investment. Harmony Domes offers geodesic dome kits, event rentals, and custom interior build outs across the U.S. Harmony Domes are weather resistant, with standard models standing up to 120 mph winds and 80 lbs psf snow-load. Learn more about the possibilities via their e-catalogues. Now, over a year in business, Harmony Domes is on track for success. With this success, they hope to support their founder’s home country, Ukraine, in this time of uncertainty and need. As of February 24, 2022, the date Putin invaded Ukraine, 100% of Harmony Domes’ profits will go directly to support the military of Ukraine. Harmony Domes will continue to donate their profits until the war is no more. Harmony Domes stands in solidarity with Ukraine. Support Ukraine and its efforts for peace by purchasing Harmony Domes. Find more information on how to help on their website, www.harmonydomes.com. Circle Back to Nature and Invest in America’s growing Ecotourism industry, these domes are built for Mother Nature.

Customers are getting savvy expecting more for the same, if not less. They want better forms of accommodation, Instagram designs, more amenities, healthier getaways and space for today’s rat-race society allowing someone to ‘unplug’ and get away from it all. Businesses, like holiday parks, glamping or caravan sites are listening but the take-up is slow while demand is higher than ever. This leads to the question, to glamp, or not to glamp? With the industry booming and an increasing number of people are wanting
EXPERIENCE LED DESIGN WITH ECOLODGIC
a piece of the pie, how do you choose which style is the best to attract the crowds? Shepherds huts? Cabins? Super fancy glamping pods? How about a tiny house? Ever heard of them? A tiny house is a home away from home. They are predominantly off-grid, helping to protect our planet, they fit lusciously within their environment, think natural wood interiors and exteriors. They are highly insulative and hold a long life compared to some huts, and did we mention the feature panoramic windows for a sense of the great outdoors?
Ecolodgic was formed in 2014 after the experience of building their own holiday let, Fir Lodge, in 2010. A busy and in demand holiday let Fir Lodge is ageing well which is testimony to the quality of the build and materials used. This is a market that Ecolodgic know well, they benefit from constant interactions with their guests and love to hear the feedback which helps to shape their thinking and future designs. Ecolodgic know from experience that there is a large market out there who will pay more to stay at a high quality and unique lodge, and they will return, and inform their friends. Ecolodgic passionately believe in using sustainable materials sourcing UK grown Douglas Fir logs, a timber which is known for its strength and durability. Their lodges are well designed requiring minimal maintenance and will last for generations to come if simple maintenance procedures are adhered to. A solid log wall thickness of 150mm, and 175mm sheep wool insulation in the floor and roof means year-round use is no problem for their glamping lodges.

If you want to get ahead of the curve, be the ‘new thing’, ‘get talked about’ and offer something ‘truly memorable’ then tiny houses are most certainly the right way to go. Glampitect recently shared their data that an occupancy rate of 60% would create an annual revenue of £136,875 based on £125 per night with five cabins. With the average tiny house price set around £55,000, that’s your money made back AND profit within two years! With the summer of 2022 fast approaching, the books are already filling, so maybe it’s time for you to consider if a glamping site if your next adventure?
Ecolodgic lodges are manufactured in Norfolk UK and are available in bespoke, log shell and turnkey packages and come as standard in a variety of sizes and options. They can tailor make lodges to suit your plans and budgets, and any site-specific requirements you might have. They can deliver as completed units or to be assembled on site, which is helpful if access is an issue. They can design any foundations required and have a range of options from solid slab to screw piles. Ecolodgic can help advise you of any planning permission requirements you might have and have a thoroughly recommended planning consultant who can make any applications you might require. Lead times are typically around two months from order, Ecolodgic can provide multiple units and they invite enquiries at the earliest opportunity in this instance. They have show houses in Norfolk and warmly invite you to come and have a look and experience an Ecolodgic glamping lodge for yourself.

INTRODUCING KABINA, BY ENCHANTED CREATIONS Why KABINA? Here are the original 4 main aesthetic design influencers for this experiential, Glamping habitat: LUXURIOUS ADVENTURE Luxury in the 21st century comes in the form of having the space and comforts to enjoy your surroundings. Designed to have everything you need at your fingertips while adventuring with attention to details that aren’t typically in glamping pods. INSPIRED BY NATURE, FOR NATURE Sympathetic integration into multiple terrains, ecologies and environment. The rolling form of the sedum green roof, draws inspiration from open spaces and rolling vistas, intended to blend with landscapes.
A FRAME FOR EXPERIENCES Kabina is designed to create a customisable, instagrammable and memorable ‘frame’ for experiences with details that people won’t have in their everyday lives. COMFORTABLE, CONSIDERED Designed with a careful balance of comfort and space, compared to many other Cabins available. Consideration to atmosphere, functionality and operational maintenance is key. Kabina is one of the few predesigned cabins in the Holiday accommodation industry, which comes with an option to comply with full Building Regulations and a Building warrantee. This means it is an extremely well-insulated, thermally efficient building for all year-round use.
Whilst the Cabin is clad with sustainably sourced natural timber, the substructure is manufactured from an extremely durable Galvanised Light gauge steel substructure with a 100+ year lifespan, which is made from 80% recycled material. The specification also includes ‘renewable ready’ smart water heating systems, Low voltage Far infrared heating which all contributes to sustainability. When designing a Kabina ‘Village’ for your retreat, Enchanted Creations ensures they are set sympathetically into landscape with experiential add-ons factored in, focusing heavily on the visitor experience and privacy. Why are bell tents great for glamping? Like wall tents, bell tents are made with heavy-duty cotton canvas that’s durable and sustainable. The canvas is often treated to resist temperature changes, inclement weather conditions, UV rays, and fire hazards. No matter where you are or what the weather’s doing, you’ll stay comfortable throughout your entire trip.
TENTS FOR GLAMPING
Most bell tents are designed with comfort in mind. Large storm windows are equipped with mesh panels and door flaps to keep out unwanted critters while letting in the cool mountain breeze. And precision stove jacks allow you to attach a wood-burning stove that heats your space to perfection without energy loss. White Duck offers a few different models to accommodate glamping enthusiasts of all types. The timeless Regatta Bell Tent is a charming option for glampers who want to enjoy the contemporary comforts of luxury with a touch of yesteryear. And the spacious Avalon Bell Tent is a premium choice for glampers who want the very best glamping tents have to offer.
3
Cabin Tents Cabin tents are a great way to enjoy the comforts of glamping with the ruggedness of the great outdoors. Their lightweight design and spacious interiors make them an excellent choice for shorter glamping getaways.
A good glamping tent needs to be durable, comfortable, and spacious. These three tent styles offer a balanced combination of all three, making them the best tents for glamping.
1
Wall Tents Wall tents—sometimes called safari tents, sheepherder tents, or outfitter tents—are the most popular type of glamping tent. They’re sturdy, durable, and spacious, making them the ideal tent for glamping. Why are wall tents great for glamping? Their spacious design provides ample room for luxurious beds, comfortable living spaces, and well-stocked kitchenettes. The durable canvas and reinforced internal frames make them perfect for long-term use in any environment. The thick cotton canvas and double-stitch sealing lock in the internal climate while allowing you to adjust the temperature at your convenience. Wall tents are built to withstand any

environmental condition, which is essential for enjoying yourself in nature. They keep you safe from wind, water, fire, mold, UV rays, and unwanted critters. Mesh windows and adjustable door flaps make it easy to enjoy your surroundings without inviting unwelcome visitors. Wall tents are one of the most sustainable types of glamping tents. White Duck’s popular Alpha Wall Tent is an environmentally-friendly option, as it’s made with natural, organic fibres that last a lifetime.
2
Bell Tents Bell tents are another popular option for glamping. They’re the perfect cross between a teepee and a wall tent—a blueprint that’s been perfected over thousands of years. Their

Why are cabin tents great for glamping? Cabin tents strike a nice balance between spaciousness, functionality, and utility. They’re made with cotton canvas that keeps you comfortable in most weather conditions. But they’re light enough to transport, set up, and take down with ease. The cabin tent’s cavernous interior and high ceilings make it ideal for large families, tall glampers, or groups with a lot of gear. Cabin tents with awnings offer even more functionality for glamping. You can use the awning as a protective barrier against UV rays or set up a nice kitchenette outside your tent door. White Duck’s Prota Cabin Tent comes with a sizeable awning, large breezy windows, and the ability to hook up electrical outlets. The Prota Cabin Deluxe adds more space, oversized windows, and specially reinforced poles.

LOTUS BELLE CELEBRATE A DECADE IN BUSINESS As Lotus Belle now heads into its 10th year, the Lotus Belle Team thought they would add a little review from a customer who bought a tent back in 2012... Her first tent is now 10 years old and still going strong, she’s just come back to buy a 3rd tent to add to her fleet, which she uses for glamping and other events - this is what she has to say: “We bought a 5m Original Lotus Belle in 2012 for our charity - giving socially disadvantaged children a holiday. It did sterling work for years and brought much joy. Since the start of the pandemic, it’s been seasonally up in our Community field (we’re a lively village!) so that folk can meet outdoors and/or have a little party or stay over, etc. It’ll do the same this year and also be used as a workshop tent at a couple of festivals. It’s at the Canvas Cleaning Company at the moment - it’s first wash! - so soon it won’t look 10 years old anymore! My new tent has missed Eunice but will be perfectly happy weathering all the new storms that climate change is going to throw at it. My other Lotus Belles have danced through Ophelia, Hannah, Callum, Jorge, Ciara, Arwen and all the other bits of devastation thrown at them, so I think they’re the tents for the future!!! Looking forward to the arrival!”
Glamping continues to grow in popularity. Which is absolutely wonderful, but also means that innovation is more important than ever. Every year, Outstanding likes to surprise us with something new; a new type of glamping tent, improvements to their current assortment, a brand-new showroom, you name it. “At Outstanding, we are constantly looking to innovate. We keep a close watch on the market and identify our customers’ needs.” says Remco. At the end of last year, they launched two brand new glamping tents. Have you discovered them yet? We’ll give you a brief introduction.
The adventurous Ranger Lodge “If you would like to offer your guests the ultimate experience: the Ranger Lodge is the right choice!” says Remco. His enthusiasm is contagious. “We have combined the best of our existing models in the new Ranger Lodge.” The spacious Ranger Lodge is unique thanks to its unique design, spacious porch and the additional small tent and hanging net on the upper floor. This gives guests the feeling of sleeping in a treehouse. In short: a tough, trendy tent for an adventurous family holiday. The cozy Safari tent Fellow “We have noticed that there is an
increasing demand for a larger and more robust version of our Safari tent XS” Remco explains. “If you are looking for a safari tent that doesn’t take up much space but still offers luxury to your guests? The Safari Tent Fellow will fit you perfectly!”. The Safari tent Fellow can be expanded upon with a living area, kitchen and even a bathroom. The Fellow is, therefore, perfect for two people who want both the camping experience and the luxury of glamping. Visit www.outstandingtent.com for more information or contact Remco for advice: +31 318 575 056 or info@ outstandingtent.com.

PPT’S ECO-FRIENDLY POWER SOLUTIONS Portable Power Technology (PPT) are specialists in off grid power and offer a wide range of solutions perfect for the Glamping market. Power is an important commodity to offer your glamping customers on off-grid sites. Customers may want to turn off all their devices and get right back to nature, some may want to retain as many creature comforts as possible, but most will reside somewhere in the middle. Everyone needs light and energy, it’s just a question of how much. PPT’s solutions harness the sun’s energy to deliver power without resorting to noisy and polluting generators which they feel can detract from the glamping experience. Offering your guests an all in one, easy to use system that can be installed in each individual accommodation unit will give them freedom to be able to charge phones if needed, read a book via LED light into the night or listen to music.
34 l
PPT’s power solutions start from a small 1.5kg all in one powerpacks that can offer basic lighting and phone charging all the way up to custom designed multiple battery and inverter systems for more power-hungry sites. All of their systems can easily utilise solar panels to offer safe and clean charging. After discussing your vision for powering the site with you PPT can help to ascertain what kind of solution is right for you. Their engineers have over 20 years of experience in providing off-grid power all over the world and they really pride themselves in their knowledge of solutions. PPT can take the headache of power off your shoulders and create a system that

HOW LUXURY GLAMPING BRAND KAMPAOH SCALED TO 35 LOCATIONS WITH THE HELP OF CLOUDBEDS In 2016, Salvador Lora couldn’t find a hotel room in Puerto Rico, so he booked a campsite. To his surprise, the lodging option offered fully equipped, ready-made tents. “I never thought a few towels and a beach cooler could make me so happy,” recalls Salvador. Joining forces with a founding partner, the team immediately set off to make the concept succeed in Spain. Fast forward to the present day and Kampoah has now opened up 35 locations with the help of Cloudbeds to power their operations. It’s a new and innovative concept of “going camping,” without hassles and with everything prepared. With the use of technology, Kampaoh continues to innovate the guest experience. Why Cloudbeds: A partner that can help scale, customize, and get direct bookings After evaluating over a dozen different property management systems, the Kampaoh management team chose Cloudbeds because they recognized the capability the cloud-based platform had to support their future growth.
The team at Kampaoh leveraged Cloudbeds API to help scale the business by adding all the tools needed at each stage of its growth. With their custom booking engine connected via the Cloudbeds API, they’ve not only created the best experience for their guests, they’ve also been able to generate 90% direct bookings. For the remaining 10% of their reservations, they rely on Cloudbeds’ channel manager to list their inventory on OTAs. The team at Kampaoh is now working on connecting their WhatsApp Chatbot to Cloudbeds to achieve even better communication with customers. Cloudbeds has helped to automate guest communication, taking the administrative burden off of daily tasks. This has freed up the staff to focus on hospitality and the Kampaoh experience. Because the staff on-site at the campgrounds needed to have access to the system, it was important for their platform to be cloudbased and easy to use. With Cloudbeds, the manager at each location can access the reports and see the business results in real-time and at the click of a button. And due to the intuitive nature of the Cloudbeds software, new staff can easily learn the system without prior training.
Moving forward, the Kampaoh team will be using Cloudbeds to power the inventory of their upcoming product called Kampaoh Go – The Camper Experience, which allows guests to live the Kampaoh experience anywhere in the country (beach, mountain, or countryside). Meet the hotel management software that’s revolutionizing the industry Co-founded in 2012 by Adam Harris, CEO, and Richard Castle, COO, Cloudbeds was created to democratize access to technology for all properties and lodging businesses, no matter the type, size, or geographic location. In particular, Cloudbeds’ easy-to-use, easyto-learn platform has made it a favourite of independent properties worldwide, including glamping sites and other unique types of accommodation. Currently, Cloudbeds is the hospitality industry’s fastest-growing technology partner, serving a global customer base of 22,000+ properties across 157 countries. Its award-winning Cloudbeds Hospitality Platform seamlessly combines tools for reservations, channel distribution, revenue management, payments, and marketing with a marketplace of third-party integrations to help hoteliers and hosts grow revenue, streamline operations, and deliver memorable guest experiences. One of the main advantages for small independent properties using Cloudbeds is that it allows them to compete on the same level as larger branded hotels in a very complex market with tools that give them more visibility online and allows them to connect with more potential guests. PROSLIDE’S WORLD-CLASS KIDZ RIDES
Elevate the Family Experience in Hotels, Campgrounds, and Resorts
Holiday parks and resorts understand the need for differentiation. In a crowded market, more and more destinations are looking to draw in the ever-important guest demographic: families. Families are a key guest demographic, especially for properties like campgrounds, parks, and resorts. ProSlide’s own research indicates that the most successful properties focus a large percentage of their attractions on kids aged 2-15. Young families make up a big market and having something for the youngest members of that family ensures there’s something for everyone. Water parks have been shown to differentiate parks and resorts by increasing guest satisfaction, occupancy rates, perceived value, and secondary spending on things like concessions. ProSlide’s KIDZ Rides are part of its WaterKINGDOM suite of water rides and attractions, purposefully designed to cater to family guests and keep them coming back. Kids Graduated Ride Experience First in the World ProSlide’s KIDZ Rides provide families the excitement of a water ride with comfort and safety designed for kids. They offer a ‘graduated ride experience’ that allows younger guests to aspire toward a more advanced ride as they age, while still providing distinctive, high-performance Sponsored by
water slides that also mirror their adult counterparts in design and experience. This ensures that no matter the age, there’s always a ProSlide ride for every age group. Customizable for any space ProSlide’s KIDZ Rides also boast an array of benefits that make them the ideal fit for smaller properties and outdoor spaces. The ride’s smaller footprint allows them to fit any vision and topography. Add to that an easily customizable ride path, ProSlide’s KIDZ rides can be accommodated in either an indoor space or an outdoor one. Being able to customize the rides means they’re also the perfect attraction to add to an expanding family entertainment area. Rulantica sets a new standard In 2021, Europa-Park’s Rulantica opened an instantly iconic ProSlide RideHOUSE® aimed squarely at the park’s family guests. As one of the most talked about and anticipated expansions of the year, the new aquatic play structure was completely customized to depict an awe-inspiring aquatic battle between the sea serpent Svalgur and a giant octopus – actually an expertly themed ProSlide Continuous
BodyBOWL. In addition to massive tentacles that encircle the structure, an astounding 10 tracks of high-performance ProSlide water rides – with a competitive two-lane ProRACER®, three TWISTERS and four KIDZ TWISTERS – fill out the spectacular ride mix. Intricate theming details like hand-painted water slides, a tipping bucket appearing to be constructed from fish bones and hand-carved Viking shields cement that the RideHOUSE®’s fantasy experience is fully realized. All of this combined to help ProSlide and Rulantica capture the world’s first Blooloop Innovation Award in the ‘Splash’ category for their work on this incredible attraction. More to come in 2022 ProSlide’s KIDZ Rides have made some of the most impactful debuts imaginable at world-class water parks around the world and this year the company has even more exciting installations at parks all over the globe. Exciting new installations of KIDZ Rides at Le Vieux Port in France and Lalandia Sondervig in Denmark are just some of the things that guests can continue to look forward to from ProSlide in 2022.

Glamptubs UK supplies robust LDPE plastic lined hot tubs specifically designed with the busy glamping site in mind. Minimal maintenance, easy to clean; these tubs are ideal for fast and hygienic handovers. Customers will enjoy the generous water depth and unhindered bathing space a joy. These tubs perform fantastically in the challenging environment encountered in the glamping and leisure industry. Anyone can buy a hot tub, but to understanding how they can be set up with different heating options, custom designed gazebos, decking and safety considerations is what will make the difference and put you above your competitors. They are available in two sizes: Standard 4-6 people (couples or small groups) and Family 6-8 people (families and large groups). Both sizes have the optional internal or external log-fired heaters and have an external finish of durable thermowood making them appear like their Scandinavian ancestors but without the drawbacks of being hard to maintain. The lack of noise and unreliable water jets and bubbles make them an industry leader in reliability and hygiene especially when minimal ‘down time’ is imperative to the site. GLAMPSAN - WASTE SOLUTIONS FOR GLAMPING SITES As we recover from the Covid era, there is surely no better time to push your “staycation” business. For landowners and glamping businesses, diversifying into glamping is all about putting your guests first, now more than ever. After all, when guests are spending their hard-earned cash with you, they want to relax and enjoy the outdoor life, spend time with family and friends in a safe environment, and stay “off-grid.” A happy guest will be a returning guest. And where people are staying, there will always be a need to provide toilets and washing facilities: whatever the solutions you provide for your guests, there will be an implication in how you capture and control that waste. Take a look at www.glampsan.com Glampsan offers you an “evolution” of toilet Sponsored by
and waste handling solutions. At one end of the spectrum, they offer composting toilets, which tick plenty of green credential boxes by reducing water consumption. Towards the middle of the range, if you can’t access a mains sewer for waste disposal, you may need waste collection tanks to capture grey and black water for later removal by a waste collection company. Next in their evolutionary line, you might need a sewage lifting station to move waste across your site, to a mains sewer or existing septic tank. And finally, at the top end of their range, you might consider a sewage treatment plant or
septic tank. Wherever you are on the “waste evolution curve,” Glampsan can help you. Glampsan is a market-leading supplier of a whole host of solutions you’ll find interesting, all backed up by their passion for customer service. The www.glampsan.com website informs and guides you through the whole range. Your customers are varied and so is the Glampsan range because no two glampsites are the same. KINEDO CUBICLES ideal for Log Cabins Norfolk based MRC Modular manufactures modular structures and buildings for the education and sports sectors; building bespoke classrooms, sports halls and even whole primary schools. The company recognised the trend for staycations some years ago and diversified their range into log cabins for camping and glamping sites. Local tourist destination, Woodlakes Holiday Park, purchased 120 high spec log cabins each offering 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and living area. Requiring a showering solution that would work well in a wooden structure, MRC chose to install two models from Kinedo’s range of all-in-one cubicle packages. The Kineprime, in both quad and recessed format, was installed in the standard cabins, whilst the walk-in Kinemagic Serenity, complete with grab bars and fold down seat, was specified for the cabins with inclusive facilities. The cubicles feature internal glass panels and the clever assembly of these interior panels with the shower tray and exterior panels and door ensures the whole unit is watertight without using silicone. Tiles, grout and silicone can be adversely affected over time by the expansion and contraction of wood whilst the Kinedo cubicle naturally moves with the wood. Andy Lancaster, General Manager at MRC uses his own production team – including an in-house plumber - to install the cubicles. The team was trained on the assembly line by Kinedo’s technical sales engineers to ensure quality of installation. Andy is not only impressed with the speed of installation, but also the ease; “Because it is so straightforward to install the cubicles our production operatives are now able to install the cubicles without
60 l
the plumber if he is busy elsewhere. We’re very happy with the quality of the finished product; they not only look good but they are very practical for us as a company as they are delivered as one package, including the shower valve, head and handset. We don’t have to deal with several suppliers and coordinate deliveries which saves us time and ultimately money.” The owner of MRC Modular also refurbishes domestic properties and is considering the use of cubicles in future projects. With the introduction of new tanking regulations in 2018 which states that ‘all substrates should be waterproofed before tiling’ there is now more work and cost involved in bathroom renovations. All wet areas must be protected ‘with a suitable proprietary tanking membrane system’ – this is usually in the form of a liquid which can be rollered on to the area to stop water permeating through to cause damp and damage. For installers the potential consequences of bypassing the new regulation could be costly as they will potentially be liable for repairs; not just for the tiled wet area, but in adjoining rooms that are affected by damp caused by a leaky shower. Kinedo cubicles, however, are unaffected by the new regulation because they form a watertight area via the integrated glass panels which eliminates the need for pre-tanking the area before installation.

INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS
with Shower Shacks
The English Shepherds Hut Company has been making Shepherd Huts since 2010. The business has always been passionate about its work, driven by its founder Craig Nield, who has nearly 40 years of experience in the construction engineering industry. It has always created designs that innovate whilst paying homage to the traditional historic origins of the humble Shepherds Hut. They also pride themselves on working closely with their clients, offering a design service that is second to none. This close working relationship with their clients is fundamental to the business’ ability to constantly innovate. The last few years have seen an increasing number of clients wanting a highly stylish but also cost-effective range of outdoor bathrooms and shelters for camping and glamping. This led the team to devise and design the innovative Shower Shack range. Craig and the team worked in conjunction with various types of end users from luxury campsites right through to festival and sporting event organisers to refine the designs. The result was a complete range of stylish pop-up outdoor showers, toilets, kitchen and social spaces for camping and glamping. A key requirement from the focus groups was that the pop-up buildings can be easily installed in any outdoor setting. Another requirement was that all products in the range were both budget and environmentally friendly which

the team took into account at every step of the design and build process. Craig Nield said: “We wanted to create something that our customers really wanted and needed and so by working with them we have been able to create a range of products that has created massive interest from business owners and fantastic feedback from users. Our toilet range includes both flushing and composting toilets for off-grid sites which has massively helped those sites who want to expand into new areas.” Installation of new equipment can be an issue for many sites but again the innovative approach and thoughtful design of the shower shacks has solved most issues. Dan from Shower Shacks adds: “We will provide you with a handy guide showing you exactly what you need. The Shower Shack can be quickly assembled on site by our friendly team of experts. All that is required on site is a suitable hardstanding, water supply and gas bottle, and our team will provide you with all the instructions to prepare your site prior to the delivery and install. The Shower and Lav Shacks are also removable, making them ideal for campsites that are seasonal or temporary, and can be stored away Sponsored by
during the colder months of the year”. Since launching, the range has created massive interest at shows and events across the UK and can now be seen at campsites and venues across the UK. Private individuals have also shown interest, especially in The Shelter Shack which makes the perfect social space in the garden for cooking, dining and entertaining. The business is not standing still but is continually innovating and working with its clients to create and build products that not just solve their needs but do so in a highly stylish way that makes even taking a shower a unique and memorable occasion. Adventurer 5 Glamping Stove by CHARLTON & JENRICK LTD
Charlton and Jenrick have been designing and manufacturing fires, fireplaces and stoves for 36 years and have used their expertise to introduce a game changer in glamping stoves - the Adventurer 5. The Adventurer together with its bespoke heat shielding kits means that adapting portable or regular domestic stoves into glamping accommodation is now unnecessary. Specialist knowledge and testing has been applied at the design stage to reduce or eliminate risk altogether for peace of mind. You can be assured of safe, straightforward, and efficient installations that are far less onerous for installers when it comes to siting, fluing and fire protection. Adventurer 5 is also environmentally considerate, having first class low emissions credentials in full compliance with the latest Ecodesign and DEFRA exemption standards for stoves. In fact, it goes much further than the legal minimum and achieves a maximum Level 5 under the all new clearSkies stove certification scheme (https://www. clearskiesmark.org/). Using the Adventurer instead of a conventional small stove is not only safer but also much kinder on the environment and humans as well. The Adventurer is a high quality, characterful, 86% efficient wood stove but the closer you look the more useful and practical features appear. Its 4” (100mm) flue connector and compact dimensions will fit into most small spaces, including narrow boats, glamping pods and small garden rooms. A fabulous range of accessories are Sponsored by
available to enhance and complement the 4.5kW stove including an insulated lift-off oven that can be used in combination with the standard large and effective hot-plate to prepare a multitude of tasty meals. Its stainless-steel hot plate is big enough to heat up to 30cm pans and the oven takes 22cm casseroles or half size baking trays - unlike many cooking stoves which are impractically small or simply don’t produce enough heat. Left or right side warming shelves are really useful for keeping pans and kettles warm plus the optional fiddle rail improves hot plate safety as well as adding a touch of class. An optional stainless splashback can be used when frying to eliminate some of the inevitable clearing up that goes with cooking delicious food! Building Regulations don’t normally apply to glamping accommodation but that doesn’t absolve the installer, owner or operator of the basic legal requirement to provide a safe and effective stove installation for users. Adventurer 5 and its accessory packages address this important area. The Adventurer is available with two tailored heat shielding options which have been independently safety tested to EN13240 to avoid a number of common problems with installation in timber or other non-permanent spaces. Hearths are taken care of within the freestanding heatshield kit or alternatively
the marine hearth to BS 8511 can also be used to add stability and safety to the attached heatshield kit in any non-domestic accommodation. These innovations mean that cutting and securing fireproof boarding, tiling or other handmade features using expensive skilled labour has now become obsolete. Environmental impact is often a high priority for glamping providers and the Adventurer 5 is a state-of-the-art solution for low smoke emissions including being UK wide DEFRA exempt for burning wood in designated smoke control areas. Going significantly beyond the 2022 Ecodesign regulation limits on stove flue emissions, Adventurer achieves Level 5 clearSkies certification. ClearSkies is the new objective & independent emissions and energy performance certification mark for solid fuel stoves and fireplaces. When specifying the Adventurer for your project, you can be assured to be using one of the best environmentally performing appliances available. Specifying and installing the Adventurer can help customers make a decisive choice of accommodation over competitors with also-ran appliances. A supremely practical appliance producing between 3.5 and 5.5kW of heat output, clean burning and an excellent fire view is very hard to beat.

CERTAINLY WOOD’S GREEN CREDENTIALS With Covid restrictions no longer limiting all the wonderful UK campsites and glamping sites from operating to their full capacity, this year is looking to be a busy one with staycations still booming. For many camping and glamping sites this year will be another opportunity to make up the lost ground and maximise sales as people continue to choose to spend their holidays exploring their homeland. Are you offering camp fires for your customers? They are a major selling point of any site and provide an important revenue stream. Certainly Wood kiln dried products burn consistently (dried to below 20% moisture) keeping your site free from excessive smoke and make the camp fire experience more enjoyable for all. This also provides far more heat, so better for cooking over and for keeping warm on those cooler summer evenings. You also need to be aware of the new ‘Woodsure Ready to Burn’ accreditation scheme which means that you are only allowed to sell wood that comes with the Ready To Burn accreditation.
Certainly Wood logs also come with green credentials, being only sourced from sustainably managed British woodlands within 100 miles from their farm in Herefordshire. All logs are dried in wood fired kilns using their own wood waste and much of their electricity is provided by renewable energy from solar panels. Certainly Wood has been working hard to reduce their overall impact on the planet and one of the projects has been to reduce plastic packaging across all their range. Certainly Wood can now proudly say that they now have a plastic free range of products which complement the camping ethos perfectly. Believing firmly
that less is more, Certainly Wood recently launched another plastic free addition to their range, their new KindleFlamer natural firelighter, which provides a very long burn and eliminates the need for any kindling when lighting a fire. Just kiln dried logs and a KindleFlamer is all that is needed for the perfect fire!
LOGS DIRECT’S RANGE CREATES WARM AND HAPPY GLAMPERS Glamping is all about the outdoor lifestyle and getting closer to nature – a formula which often has a woodburner at its heart, for comforting warmth. Logs Direct has products to tick the boxes of all glampers. As an accredited Ready to Burn log supplier, it supplies wood that is super-dry and legal to burn. Logs Direct’s Kiln dried logs emit an earthy and mellow scent, creating a wonderful mood, burning clear and bright, as well as hot, providing the warmth even on the chilliest of evenings. Kiln dried hardwood offers the longest burns available, delivering great value for money and should not spark or prove difficult to light. Getting the fire started with these is also simplicity itself, if using the sensational Burner Firestarter. Rather than having to taint the fingers with an obnoxious odour or paraffin, the glamper simply reaches for a little sachet, pops it on the kiln-dried kindling, and applies the fire source. A super
68 l
flame instantly arises but it is controlled, helping the fire burn efficiently, thanks to the sachet’s secret ingredients. Making life easier for glampers is a way to enhance their stay, so glamp-sites should definitely look at the new all-in-one-box, Warma Complete 4-in-1 Weekend Fire Kit. This provides all the glamper needs to get both them – and the fire – going. There’s enough included to create five standard fires, with three bags of ready to burn, kiln-dried logs, one small box of top-quality kindling and environmentally friendly eco woodwool firelighters included, not to mention matches! To put barbecuing at the heart of an idyllic get-away-from-it-all weekend, Logs Direct packages products such as its WARMA Lumpwood Charcoal in weekend-sized, 6-litre bags. Should glampers be staying longer, however, a luxurious Lumpwood Fruit-wood Charcoal, made from the prunings of various fruits and packaged in
www.glampingbusiness.com
larger bags, tempts by virtue of its orchard aromas. For end-of-the-day warmth and ambience, Logs Direct’s Chimenea Chunks are perfect little warmers, made from 100% recycled materials and again Ready to Burn-certified for use in both chimeneas and fire pits. But for complete mindfulness, all the glamper needs are some Evening Lite torches - 19cmhigh logs, with in-built burn mechanism, which can be used as a campfire, outdoor candle or torch, to bring light displays as well as warmth to outdoor zones. Information is just a phone call away, on 01524 812476, orders@logsdirect.co.uk or visit www.warmahomefuels.co.uk
