Season’s Greetings! by D on Em de
the level of Europe yet, but there is promising growth for the future. Be sure to check out the story starting on page 16. Also in October, Parts Unlimited changed its annual dealer ride format to an all-UTV event, taking a group of dealers, sales reps and vendors to Brimstone Recreation Area in Huntsville, TN. As she often does, Mother Nature played a role by soaking the area with an ample amount of rain. The hearty group rose to the occasion, though, and thoroughly enjoyed a couple of days of playing in the mud with friends and industry associates. Our ride report begins on page 58. Talk to your Parts Unlimited sales rep about details of the 2019 ride.
A
s we close out 2018, we complete our 25th year of publishing Parts Magazine. Let me say thanks to all of my staff and contributors, advertisers, readers and suppliers who have helped us put our magazines together through the years…especially this anniversary year. October was a busy month for our team. This was the first year that Parts Unlimited was an exhibitor at the AIMExpo and we were there. The 2018 edition was held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. The event concept that continues to evolve is to create for the United States an event much like the successful trade shows of Europe. The Intermot exposition in Cologne, Germany and EICMA in Milan, Italy are the two biggies. Both begin with trade-only activities such as new vehicle introductions and dealer-only days, then conclude with massive crowds of consumers attending to see all the new products for the upcoming season. The numbers here aren’t at
Looking ahead, the Parts Unlimited Spring NVP Product Expo moves to Louisville, KY next year. On February 16-17, attending dealers will have the opportunity to view over 300 vendor displays with all the new goodies for the 2019 season. On page 22 of this issue we begin a preview of many of the companies and products that will be seen there. We’ll be there and hope you will be too. It’s not too late to make plans to attend the event and take advantage of the many great deals that will be offered in Louisville, as well as the chance to talk with the people who make the products you sell. Talk to your Parts rep today so you don’t miss out. Lastly, I wanted to wish everyone the best of the holiday season. You may get some nice gifts later this month, but I hope you all get to enjoy some quality time with your friends and families. That is the best gift of all. ■

NEWS EVENTS Parts Unlimited Announces New Sales Reps HIRES JOIN REGIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY
P
arts Unlimited has announced the hiring of five new sales reps for regions across the country. The new employees bring a wealth of Powersports industry experience to their sales roles.
Jason Paxton is the new sales rep for the Central region covering northern Ohio.
Paxton comes to Parts Unlimited after working as a service manager, motorcycle parts/service/financing manager, and in motorcycle sales. Throughout that time, he chased his motorcycling passion by riding in hare scrambles, sportbike/ Supermoto track days and in C-class motocross events. When not working, Paxton can be found golfing or pursuing his hobby of woodworking. As the newest sales rep for the Central region covering western Pennsylvania, Robert Todd brings years of experience as a general manager and parts manager. Todd has spent years riding ATVs and dual-sport bikes, and has passed along his passion to his 6-year-old son. Todd says his son loves riding his Honda CRF50 every chance he gets. Meagan Morrison is now the sales rep for the North region. She joined the Parts Unlimited team after working as a parts/ service advisor on the dealership level, and in sales/marketing at the vendor level. continued on page 11

Dunlop Named Official Tire Partner to USMCA
D
unlop Motorcycle Tires and the United States Motorcycle Coaching Association (USMCA) have signed a three-year agreement making Dunlop the association’s Official Tire Partner.
The USMCA was formed to help grow the sport of motorcycling by creating a nationwide network of coaches to train new and returning riders. USMCA is committed to connecting, training and certifying the industry’s finest coaches to ensure that safety, experience and support is in place to expand the sport by engaging and retaining lifelong riders. “We believe the sport’s growth must come through efforts that make new riders safer riders and experienced riders
better riders, and the USMCA shares that belief,” said Mike Buckley, Dunlop Motorcycle’s vice president of sales and marketing. “We hope to promote the USMCA through our Dunlop Pro Dealer Program beginning in 2019 and will announce those initiatives later. “Finally, we will look to get our entire business team involved with USMCA whether it’s through promotion of the organization or certification of our staff at some level.” ■
»» For more information about becoming a coach, to arrange
a coaching program, or to otherwise support or be involved with the USMCA log on to http://usmca.org.
Morrison earned her motorcycle endorsement four years ago and says riding motorcycles is her number one favorite thing to do, in addition to attending local races. Before becoming the sales rep for the Southwestern region covering New Mexico, Jeff Newell worked as an assistant service manager and service advisor in local shops in Utah. During his free time, Newell spends countless hours in his garage restoring and rebuilding his vintage 1973 AMF Aermacchi 350 SX. Kyle Kremis joins Parts Unlimited as the sales rep for the Southwestern region covering Las Vegas. Kremis has worked in the motorcycle industry at various motocross and Supercross events, and at the dealership level. He’s been an avid rider since he was 5 years old. During his free time, Kremis and his wife enjoy desert riding and working on a custom Jeep project. ■

NEWS EVENTS Parts Unlimited Goes Big at the Motocross of Nations WEEKEND CALLED AN INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS
Photos by Bavo Swijgers and Steve Weir as noted
After all, it’s not every day that an international race that’s known as the “Olympics of Motocross” is practically in your backyard. Parts Unlimited, Parts Europe and brands such as Alpinestars, Moose Racing, and THOR were front and center the weekend in October as sponsors when an estimated 81,000 fans braved the rain and mud to watch the best motocross riders in the world compete for the storied Chamberlin Trophy.

hen the 72nd running of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations rolled into the legendary RedBud track in Buchanan, MI, it was only natural that Parts Unlimited and parent company LeMans Corporation rolled out the red carpet for the famous race.
When the final checkered flag came down, Team France – featuring THOR rider Dylan Ferrandis – took first place, followed by Team Italy and Team Netherlands up on the podium.
“We had a packed house and the dealers really enjoyed themselves,” said Steve Weir, Parts Unlimited national sales manager. “It was inspiring to see the best riders from around the world all competing.” Not only did the event feature the best international riders, it also attracted Parts Europe dealers and Parts Canada

dealers, who joined their Parts Unlimited compatriots at the packed hospitality area hosted by LeMans. According to Weir, the section was the hot ticket for the weekend, with many non-dealers wondering how they could get in. The VIP area focused around THOR’s hospitality truck and featured a huge viewing area that offered dealers a complete 360-degree unobstructed view of the track. Two other Parts Unlimited big rigs were also used as the Alpinestars international hospitality area, and for the Youthstream and FIM personnel working onsite, reported Hylton Beattie, Parts Unlimited’s global motorsports director. Parts Unlimited also sponsored the inaugural THOR Pitbike of Nations on Saturday night. The race was a wild success and a fan favorite, all of whom loudly cheered when fourtime Supercross and three-time motocross champion Ryan Villopoto took first place. Villopoto raced the pitbike event for “Team USA” with fellow riders Carson Brown and Willy Browning. Beattie said that the Motocross of Nations at RedBud was one of the biggest events that Parts has ever been involved with on an international level and that the company’s events team really did a fantastic job. “It was a very successful ‘We Support the Sport’ event, on an international level,” Beattie said. “It was one of those events that you can walk away from and say, ‘That was a home run.’” ■

Parts Unlimited Adds AIMExpo to Annual Show Schedule
Story by Don Emde / Photos by AIMExpo and Don Emde as noted
D
espite having two shows of its own each year, Parts Unlimited made a first-time appearance this year at the AIMExpo, held October 11-14 in Las Vegas. AIMExpo caught the attention of Parts Unlimited with the news of a Powersports Industry Week concept, involving a dealer-consumer show at the Mandalay Bay convention center, Las Vegas BikeFest, the MotoAmerica Night of Champions banquet, and the Monster Energy Cup Supercross at nearby Sam Boyd Stadium. The parent company, LeMans Corporation, decided to provide the all-important distributor presence to support the efforts of more than 50 of its vendors that were signed up to exhibit at this year’s show. Participation also meant bringing in house brands such as Arctiva, Drag Specialties, Icon, Moose Racing, Moose Utility Division, THOR, and Z1R for exposure in both the dealer and consumer hours. Produced by the Motorcycle Industry Council, AIMExpo is the only show of its kind in the United States. AIME – which stands for American International Motorcycle Expo
– is modeled after the time-tested manufacturer-dealerconsumer events held in Milan, Italy, Cologne, Germany and other locations in Europe. In addition to a huge display of motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, snowmobiles and more, there were nearly 500 exhibitors from the aftermarket. Other unique features included the Media Hub (a dedicated press center); Dealer Summit (two days of business seminars); MotoCulture (an area dedicated to lifestyle subcultures in motorcycling); and AIMExpo Outdoors (test rides from eight manufacturers). A reception was held for Women in Powersports, as well as the MIC Gas Tank Competition (recognizing innovation and new ideas). By the numbers, the MIC reported attendance of more than 2,500 dealers, representation from all 50 states and more than 50 different countries, 500 exhibitors, 250 media members and 100 media outlets.
»» AIMExpo moves to the Midwest for 2019. From September 26-29,
the show will be held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, OH. For more info, log on at www.AIMExpoUSA.com.

PREVIEW: LOUISVILLE NVP PRODUCT EXPO FEBRUARY 16-17, 2019
The Parts Unlimited Spring NVP Product Expo is essential for dealers looking to get a jumpstart on the selling season. The new location in Louisville, KY promises increased floor space and more than 300 displays.
I
t may look like winter outside, but everyone in the Powersports industry knows that this is the prime time to start preparing for those first days of spring when business kicks off in full swing.
All across the country – yes, even in those areas where winter is merely a suggestion of a season – the industry is busy making plans for the return of riding weather. Dealers are looking for the new, hot products that will be big sellers, and the one place to see all those products under one roof is the Parts Unlimited 2019 NVP Product Expo. Housed in a new location at the KICC Convention Center in Louisville, KY, the spring NVP Product Expo will be the place to be to get the scoop on those great street and off-road goodies that will soon be lining dealership shelves. Not only is the space at the convention center the biggest showfloor that Parts has ever used, the show will feature more than 250 vendors and 350 booths. “It’s going to be the biggest show the company has ever done,” said Jeff Derge, LeMans Corporation’s vice president of sales. “It is the largest distributor show in America.”
22
Not only do the dealer training seminars offer detailed insight into the new products coming to market, they also serve as a chance to check in with your sales reps and vendor personnel.
SHOW HOURS/EVENT SCHEDULES Saturday, February 16
• Day 1 Expo: 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. • Dealer Seminars, In-Depth Training Opportunities • Meet & Greet – Sports and Social Club at 4th Street Live! 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, February 17
• Day 2 Expo: 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. • Dealer Seminars, In-Depth Training Opportunities
The NVP Product Expo also features in-depth dealer training from key vendors. There will also be presentations from two surprise vendors and a fashion show.
Given its central location, Louisville is a day’s drive for more than half of the United States population, meaning that getting to the show shouldn’t be a big hassle. When the show closes for the day, the city offers premier dining and entertainment options at the nearby 4th Street Live! area.
“We’ll be doing a fashion show for the first time ever, with all the new products from the 2019 spring collections of the big apparel brands,” Derge said.
The Louisville NVP Product Expo is your chance to get a leg up on the competition for the 2019 sales season. Talk with your Parts Unlimited sales rep for details on how you can attend.

Keeping Up with the Qualifier Updated Off-Road Apparel
Moose Racing has updated its popular line of Qualifier racewear for 2019. Now available in a range of eye-catching graphics, the line is built for hard riding in tough conditions.
M
oose Racing has updated its popular Qualifier line of off-road apparel for the 2019 season so riders can look fresh while getting dirty. The line includes jerseys and pants for adults and youth, plus a jacket and goggles. The Qualifier jersey and pants both come in six colorways for a coordinated look – Stealth (gray on black), red/white/blue, green/white, black/orange, black/red and teal/hi-viz. The coordinating over-the-boot Qualifier pants come in black. Sizing for the jerseys runs from S to 5XL, while both versions of the pants are available in sizes 28 to 54. The Qualifier jersey features a generous cut and sleeves that are designed for comfort as well as a full range of movement. Non-restrictive stretch mini cuffs stay comfortable while ensuring that the sleeves stay put. The polyester chassis has updated sublimated graphics and colors that will remain bright after washing. The custom collar design and spandex neck taping are added comfort perks.

Moose Racing designed the Qualifier pants for both durability and comfort. The polyester chassis has doublestitched seams plus reinforced high-denier nylon inner knee panels. The pre-bent ergonomic design ensures a comfortable stance while riding. Like the jersey, the Qualifier pants have sublimated graphics that are permanently fixed to the material and do not fade over time. The over-the-boot Qualifier pants have improved storage for 2019, with two new hand pockets with a zipper closure. The high-denier polyester chassis has an oversized knee area with nylon inner panels for an extra layer of defense. The pre-bent leg design is supplemented by spandex stretch panels for increased mobility. High-quality YKK zippers can be found throughout, including at the lower legs, where the zippered entry makes it easy to put the pants on and to adjust knees protectors or boots. Up top, a three-point waist adjustment system allows a rider to fine-tune the fit.

The F.I. Session helmet features MIPS technology, which is designed to reduce rotational motion to a rider’s head during a crash, there by reducing the risk of brain injury.
Riders who want something less track-oriented can opt for the Qualifier jacket, which makes an ideal pairing with the over-the-boot Qualifier pants. The black jacket is made of a high-denier woven polyester with doublestitched seams, all topped with high-quality sublimated graphics. The shell is water resistant, while the inner polyester mesh lining is highly breathable and wicks moisture. The Qualifier jacket is designed for versatility in varying temperatures. The 2-in-1 design includes zip-off sleeves, and there are five adjustable vents, including the front and back plus pit vents. Design details for comfort include a pre-bent ergonomic sleeve design and adjustable cuffs. Storage space abounds with hand pockets, one back pocket and one inside pocket. The Qualifier jacket comes in sizes S to 5XL. Moose Racing also has complementary Qualifier goggles. The Qualifier Shade has six different color schemes and comes stock with a mirror smoke lens, while the Qualifier Slash has eight different color schemes and comes stock with a clear lens. The special-edition Qualifier SE goggles feature a woodgrain graphic on the frame and a mirror smoke lens.
Moose Racing has everything a rider needs to be fully kitted out for track or trail, so there are plenty of additional items that complement the Qualifier line. The F.I. Session helmet is especially notable because it is equipped with MIPS technology. The MIPS Brain Protection System (BPS) features what is called a low-friction layer between the shell and the liner of the helmet, and it is designed to help reduce rotational motion to a rider’s head in the event of a crash, thereby reducing the risk of brain injury.

colorways – black/orange, red/white/blue and teal/hi-viz. The youth line features the same perks as the adult Qualifier apparel. The jersey comes in youth sizes XS to XL, while the pants are available in sizes 18-28.
The M1.3 boots complete the head-to-toe kit. Available in adult, youth and child sizes, the M1.3 boots have a polyurethane-coated synthetic leather chassis. A heavyweight suede leather guard improves abrasion and heat resistance on the calf, while the shin, ankle and footplates have reinforced TPU panels. Inside, soft EVA foam reinforces impact areas and provides cushioning comfort, while a rigid steel shank-reinforced sole eliminates foot flexing and provides superior foot support. The new integrated internal lace system secures the foot and increases ankle stability. ■

The goggles have a molded frame that allows for flexibility and durability, and the venting is built in. The frame is backed with a new multi-density foam that is topped with fleece, which altogether provides excellent moisture management and seals out dirt and dust. The large eye port keeps the view ahead clear, as do the optically pure polycarbonate lenses, which have a scratch-resistant and anti-fog coating. The elastic strap has a tacky grip printed on it to keep the goggles in place on the helmet. Dealers can also get replacement lenses and tear-offs for the Qualifier goggles. OE Replacement and Heavy-Duty Axles
P
opping, clicking, clunking, growling and shuddering are all signs that it might be time for a new CV axle. Moose Utility Division is ready to eradicate all of those symptoms by carrying ATV and UTV axles in two styles, including OE replacement and heavy duty.
For the ATV or UTV rider who needs something even tougher, Moose Utility Division’s heavy-duty CV axle can handle up to 35 percent more torque than an OEM axle.
The axles are engineered and manufactured in a state-ofthe-art facility, using high-quality materials to produce reliable, tough products that can withstand a beating from rough terrain, water, mud and sand.
Like the OE replacement axle, the heavy-duty version starts with the materials. The heat-treated chromoly steel solid center shaft has a greater density and strength than chrome steel. The premium quality thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) dust boots are stronger, more rigid and offer increased resistance to punctures than dust boots made of neoprene CR rubber.
Although the Moose Utility Division OE replacement CV axle is designed to be just what it says – a direct OE replacement – it can actually handle up to 20 percent more torque than its stock counterpart.
All of the axle joints are lubricated with a highperformance, high-temperature moly grease for superior protection under extreme driving conditions. Not only does the heavy-duty axle meet OEM travel specifications,
When it comes time for your customers to change out the well-worn axles on their hard-working ATVs and UTVs, show them the OE-style replacement and heavy-duty versions from Moose Utility Division.
The replacement axle meets all OEM axle specifications for travel and joint articulation, but the Moose Utility Division version goes beyond the basic requirements. The heat-treated chrome steel solid center shaft improves the performance and longevity of the axle, giving it a boost of ruggedness. Even the small details have been taken into consideration. The high-quality neoprene CR rubber dust boots have greater flexibility as well as increased heat and chemical resistance than the OE boots. The moly grease in the axle joints is a high-performance formula that provides exceptional metal adhesion and increased resistance to high shock loads.

Upgrades for Indians
Performance Cables and Clutch Kits
I
t doesn’t take long for riders with Indian Chief, Chieftain, Roadmaster, Springfield and Scout models to start looking for a stronger, smoother, easier-operating clutch. It’s true whether the bike is mostly stock or it’s hot-rod modified – clutch upgrades are popular. Barnett’s clutch upgrades for the Indian Motorcycle lineup range from the easy switch to a high-efficiency/ smooth-action cable, to fully swapping in a strong, slipfree carbon fiber and Kevlar clutch kit. There are also Extra-Plate Clutch Kits and the latest addition to this lineup, an all-new Indian Clutch Shaft Arm. Upgrading to a Barnett clutch cable, clutch kit, or both, is an affordable move for Indian bike owners looking for a more efficient clutch setup. Some clutch woes can often be traced to stiff, sticking, notchy or stretched OE cables. A Barnett High Efficiency replacement will put an end to all that. These feature a High Efficiency inner wire that is nylon coated, lubed with silicone and runs through a Teflon inner lining.
The clutch cables from Barnett for the Indian Motorcycle model range offer your customers an upgrade over the stock cables.
Both versions offer a strong grip with improved oil flow for cooler, smoother, more consistent performance and a longer life. Each kit comes with a full set of tempered-steel/ precision-ground plates and heat-treated, heavy-duty springs. All of them are a direct replacement for the OE parts. For a super-grip upgrade, Barnett has Extra Plate Clutch Kits available for the 2014 through 2019 Chief, Chieftain, Roadmaster and Springfield models. These increased capacity kits include eight Kevlar friction plates, seven tempered-steel plates and a set of five heavy-duty springs for significantly increased clutch capacity, strong, slip-free performance, easy action, and an extended service life. Your Indian Bagger customers will also want to know about Barnett’s new Clutch Shaft Arm, as well. Available for the 2014 and later models, this redesigned shaft arm improves clutch separation for even smoother shifts and ease in finding neutral. ■
When your customers’ stock Indian clutches start to wear out, point them toward the kits available from Barnett. They provide strong, smooth and easy operation.
»» Talk to your Parts about these Barnett clutch upgrades for Indian models. Get further information at www.barnettclutches.com.
The net result is ultra-smooth action, reduced lever effort and a long life. All the fittings are chrome plated where applicable and three casing styles are available, traditional black vinyl, classic stainless braid, and the Platinum Series. (Note: the Platinum Series cables are not available for Scout models.) Then there are those two new clutch kits that cover all the 2014 through 2019 Chief, Chieftain, Roadmaster, Springfield and Scout models. Direct-fit upgrades, they feature segmented carbon fiber friction plates for the Baggers, and Kevlar plates for the Scout.

RIDING GEAR
The Wild Ones
Bold, Trippy New Graphics Your customers looking for a colorful and stylish upgrade to their riding gear might want to check out Icon’s new Wild Child collection.
I
f you’re looking for gear that’s as stylish as it is playful, look no further than Icon’s Wild Child collection. The Wild Child graphic is available in the Airmada helmet and the Overlord SB2 Women’s jacket, both available in color options of orange and purple. The Wild Child design is a little bit tiger print, a little bit psychedelic and a whole lot of color. Riders who want to make sure that every single person they pass does a double-take will feel at home in the Wild Child. The Airmada is the sensible, no-nonsense helmet that provides the canvas for the outrageous graphics, bright colors and retro lettering on the back. Available in sizes XS to 2XL, the Airmada meets DOT FMVSS 218 Helmet Safety Standards for the US. It fits extremely close to the head because of the low-profile shell, and that shape, combined with an integrated spoiler, help keep the ride smooth even at high speeds. Icon’s long oval fit means the head is long front-to-back and narrow side-to-side, which offers additional forehead room for riders who typically have a problem with forehead pressure points.
Airflow comes in the form of six air intakes and four exhaust ports combined with deep channeling within the EPS foam liner. Inside, the sublimated Hydradry moisture-wicking liner helps keep things cool, dry and odor-free. The Airmada is compatible with both the Fog-Free Icon Optics shield and the Tracshield. The Icon Optics shield has a Rapid-Release system for quick swaps, and a ProLock positive shield locking system. The Trackshield includes tearoff posts. Both shields are available in a variety of clear, tinted and mirrored options.
The Wild Child Overlord SB2 Women’s jackets continue the trippy graphics and loud colors in sizes XS-3XL. The Icon Women’s Attack Fit equals pre-curved arms and a form-fitting style for comfort and good aerodynamics at speed. D3O impact protectors in the back, shoulders and elbows offer an extra barrier against solid objects, while the zip-out quilted liner is a barrier against the weather. The durable textile chassis of the Overlord also includes dual zipper vent cuffs, integrated flex zones and strategically placed laser perforations for ample ventilation. Riders who want to keep the look going after the ride can opt for the Wild Child hoodie in bright turquoise, which comes in sizes XS to 2XL. ■

Riding Gear Makes a Perfect Gift
T
HOR recently introduced a number of new products perfectly timed for the gift-giving season, a lineup that includes helmets, apparel, gloves, boots and bags – a perfect combination for your off-road riding customers’ wish lists. Here’s a brief rundown of some of those great products:
SECTOR BOMBER HELMET The new Sector Bomber Helmet features MIPS technology (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System). The MIPS Brain Protection System (BPS) features what is called a low-friction layer between the shell and the liner of the helmet. If a rider crashes and the helmet hits the ground at an angle, the low-friction layer allows a slight sliding motion in all directions.
HALLMAN COLLECTION Four-time World Motocross Champion Torsten Hallman is known for helping introduce motocross to the United States, and in 1968 launched a line of pants, jerseys and gloves under the brand name Hallman Racing, or THOR (Torsten Hallman Original Racewear.) For 2019, THOR’s vintage-inspired Hallman Collection includes new jerseys, gloves and casual apparel that serve as an homage to that racing and racewear pioneer. Hallman Collection jerseys include the Hopetown, Heater and Ringer. All three jerseys are made of a moisture-wicking material and feature four-way stretch panels in cuffs and collar, set-in style sleeves for a versatile fit, a heat transfer neck label, and no-fade sublimated graphics.
This sliding reduces the rotational motion that is transmitted to the brain during impact. In short, MIPS BPS technology is designed to help reduce rotational motion to a rider’s head by absorbing the energy itself.
The Hopetown comes in three colors, Black, Brick and Slate. The Heater is available in Midnight/Sky and White/Blue. The Ringer features a Charcoal body with Gold-ringed sleeves. All are available in six sizes, Small to 3X-Large.
The Sector Bomber Helmet is also DOT and ECE 22.05 approved, and is available in six sizes (X-Small to 2X-Large) and offered in four color combination: Black/Mint, White/Red/Orange, Charcoal/ White and Red/Charcoal.
The Hallman Collection’s Digit vintage style MX gloves perfectly match the throwback jerseys. They’re available in five sizes, Small to 2X-Large.
BLITZ BOOTS You can bet that you have customers who would welcome a pair of THOR’s Blitz XP or Blitz LS motocross boots. Built for tough use and comfort, these boots make a great addition to THOR’s racewear lineup. They’re built with a mesh liner to promote good airflow, and feature a metal toecap that reinforces the outsole strength. The Blitz XP can be custom fit for each rider thanks to four fully adjustable straps. The Blitz XP comes available in five color combinations: White/Black, Red/ Black, Flo Green/Black, Charcoal/Orange and Black. Customers looking for a shorter, lighter weight boot should check out the Blitz LS. This two-buckle boot has all of that same great THOR safety and comfort technology, and is available in Black or White. Both models of Blitz boot are available in men’s sizes 7-15, women’s sizes 5-10 and youth sizes 1-7.

THOR

Both the Circuit Bag and the Transit Wheelie Bag are made of 1200D Ballistic polyester shell, a 210D polyester liner and feature large ventilated main compartment, mesh interior pockets, rollout changing mat, a micro fleece lined helmet & goggle pocket, a separate boot compartment, and durable reinforced handles. However, the larger Transit bag also features a durable molded base, oversized rolling wheels, a retractable push button handle, and cinch straps to compress bag height. THOR’s hydration packs come in the form of the 1.5-liter Vapor, 2-liter Hydrant and 3-liter Reservoir. All three hydration packs are made of 1200D ballistic polyester and feature a thermal lined bladder compartment, neoprene hydration tube sleeve, magnetic bite valve holder, YKK water-resistant zippers and a THOR reflective logo. For added comfort, each pack features a sternum strap and buckle to keep gear secure as well as a lightweight mesh harness angled away from the underarms to offer total freedom of movement. ■

The Fast Track
Race-Driven Product Development
F
or Trinity Racing, competition is a big part of the fun, but it’s also an important part of the job. The company’s off-road products earn their pedigree in racing, so parts like the Stage 5 full exhaust system, drive belts and clutch kits for the Polaris RZR and Can-Am X3 have all been put through the harsh rigors of racing.
Trinity Racing’s high-performance clutch kits helps increase low-end and mid-range torque and helps smooth out shifting. The kits feature the highly durable DUMAX drive belts.
The team at Trinity Racing consider being in the trenches with race teams as an integral part of developing products, especially when it comes to quality and reliability. The company works extensively with pro racer Adrian Orellana, who competes in both BITD and SCORE in a Polaris RZR. Orellana’s team landed on the podium at SCORE’s recent Baja Desert Challenge. Trinity Racing also supports other racers, both with its products and by being onsite at events to help support competitive customers. Trinity Racing’s Stage 5 full exhaust system is a highperformance component made of fully TIG-welded 6061 aluminum dual mufflers, mounting brackets and exhaust tips. The lightweight design is made in the USA at Trinity’s in-house production facility. Each Stage 5 exhaust comes complete with an oxygen sensor bung and an USFS-approved spark arrestor, which adds significant horsepower and torque gains over stock. The mufflers are available in either a brushed aluminum or black finish. In the same competitive vein, Trinity Racing offers a highperformance clutch kit that is ideal for all kinds of off-road use, including trails, mud, sand, and even hauling. It has been refined in racing, but Trinity Racing considers the kit as a good all-around clutch option.
The kit increases low-end and mid-range torque, increases low-end smoothness, eliminates harsh clutch engagement and eliminates belt slippage. Shifting between gears and throttle response are also designed to be smoother than the OEM clutch package. Temperature has also been taken into consideration with the clutch kit, so its operation is designed to reduce the clutch temperature. The heat-resistant DUMAX drive belt has more strength than OEM belts for an extra boost of durability. Each Trinity Racing clutch kit comes complete with the belt, springs and weights. Trinity Racing also offers its drive belt separately. The belt is an upgrade over OEM, with stronger cord construction and a higher-temperature compound. A combination of carbon fiber and a DUMAX top cog compound helps retain cord rigidity and better adhesion of the top cog-to-cord Pro Racer Adrian construction. The belt is engineered Orellana counts to keep maximum under-cord stiffon Trinity Racing’s ness across the belt while allowing high-performance the belt to flex for better efficiency exhaust systems and cooler temperatures. ■ for getting across the finish line first in both BITD and SCORE competition.

HELMETS
The FX-99
Full-Face Protection, All-Season Comfort
T
he newest helmet from AFX, the FX-99, is aerodynamically designed and features a customizable fit, 10 points of ventilation, the option of doublelens electric shields and snap-in breath guards for winter wear.
FX-99 in the Recurve graphic
All this comes with a broad choice of solid colors or multi-colored graphics and is packed with the affordable quality AFX is known for. There’s a look, a size and a fit for everyone, too, and Parts Europe has it all. For more than two decades AFX has offered value-packed, premium helmets, helmets that hit the balance between good looks, functionality and affordability. Over the years the product line has expanded to include dozens of offerings, the latest being the new full-face FX-99. Once again starting with a fresh approach, the FX-99 design centers around an aerodynamic shell constructed using an advanced material. Lightweight and strong, a large-size FX-99 weighs just 3 pounds. Available sizes, incidentally, run from XS to XXL. The helmet meets or exceeds both ECE 22.05 and DOT FMVSS-218 motorcycle helmet safety standards and the retention system is a race-approved titanium double D-ring arrangement. Inside the shell there’s a removable, washable and custom-sizable interior that allows the fit of the helmet to be customized by replacing the existing cheek pads with thinner pads for a looser fit, thicker pads for a tighter fit. Customers can also replace the existing comfort liner with a thinner liner for a looser fit or thicker one for a tighter fit. And all those pads and liners provide ample ear-cavity space to accommodate most speaker systems.
FX-99 in solid
Comfort and all-weather-usability features continue with the FX-99’s 10-point adjustable ventilation system and the choice of three tinted shields for warm-weather wear, and the availability of a cold-weather conversion with the quick addition of a double-lens or double-lens electric shield and snap-in winter breath guard. Whatever the season, whatever the conditions the FX-99 is ready for it. All this is offered in seven different solid colors, matte black, gloss black, frost grey, silver, magnetic and pearl white. Also available is the AFX Recurve graphic, a multicolor design of matte black/grey, matte neon orange/ white, and matte neon yellow/white, black/orange, black/ white, navy blue/green/light blue and red/blue/white. And everything – solid colors and all the Recurve styles – is protected with a tough-wearing clear coat finish. ■

TIRES
Braving Brimstone
M1-Evil Now Offered in New Sizes
Klock Werks’ Dan Cheeseman pounded across Brimstone’s trail system on those M1-Evil tires and they stood up to every minute of punishment he put them through.
“I was in a Cam-Am Maverick X3 the entire time, and was really impressed with how well those tires held up,” said Jason Smith of Midwest Performance in Keokuk, IA. “Here in Iowa we sell a lot of them to farmers on utility machines, but I had never been on that rocky terrain, where the biggest strength seemed to be in the sidewall.” Introduced in select sizes in the fall of 2017, the M1-Evil became a big seller for AMS in 2018. Offering the versatility of being DOT approved for on- and off-road use, the M1-Evil’s one-inch-deep tread design was developed using a special long-lasting compound for maximum durability.
D
ealers from across the country recently took part in Parts Unlimited’s UTV Dealer Ride at Brimstone Recreation Area. It’s an off-road lover’s paradise in Tennessee that features more than 300 miles of trails and roads within the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. Participants piloted a variety of side-by-side vehicles during the two-day event, including Kawasaki Teryx, Yamaha Wolverine, Textron Wildcat XX, Honda Pioneer 1000, and Polaris RZR 900 & 1000 models, among others. Operators of several rigs said they were glad to have been outfitted with the AMS M1-Evil tire during their time traversing the sharp shale, large rocks, thick mud and slippery root systems that define the riding area.
Stoked by its initial success with the M1-Evil, AMS recently expanded the tire’s availability from 11 to 15 sizes – adding a 25x8R12, 25x10R12, 27x9R12 and 27x11R12 to the line-up. Retail prices now range from $120.95 for the 25x8R12 to $234.95 for the 32x10R15. Tires in 25- and 26-inch sizes are six-ply, those ranging from 27-inch to 32-inch feature eight-ply construction. “I have run them on my Yamaha YXZ, and really liked them in the winter, but I wanted to try a 32-inch so I attached a set to a Wildcat XX,” said Eric Sette of Sette Sports Center, a dealer in Owatonna, MN. “The terrain was really rough – the rocks, logs, sharp edges – and I thought for sure I’d get a flat tire, but it didn’t happen. I didn’t even see any cuts.”
At the recent Parts Unlimited UTV Dealer Ride, Jason Smith of Midwest Performance ran his Can-Am Maverick X3 with AMS M1-Evil tires through Brimstone Recreation’s miles of muddy, rocky, steep, rutted and slippery trails. The verdict? Two thumbs up.
According to AMS’ Jimmy White, the AMS M1-Evil had zero trouble, and worked in all conditions that Brimstone had to offer. While the M1-Evil is AMS’ popular new ATV/UTV tire, the brand of course offers a multitude of other tire models specialized for diverse terrains – whether thick mud, sharp rocks, hard-packed dirt or soft sand. ■

The second shoe is going to drop when they get to the parts counter at their Polaris dealership The price being asked for that replacement fuel pump can be an eye-popper, worse yet if they learn that their ATV/ UTV model is one where the fuel pump can’t be purchased separately and is only available as part of a package deal including the fuel tank itself. All Balls Racing has a better answer. Offering powersport enthusiasts what they need to make a repair in one convenient package, at an affordable price, the latest addition to All Ball’s line-up of hard parts are new Fuel Pump Kits for Polaris ATVs and UTVs.
The kits contain a complete, easy-to-install fuel pump module that’s ready to drop in when needed to replace a non-functioning OEM fuel pump. The All Balls Racing kits are plug-n-play easy to install, saving riders both time and money. Prices vary according to the application. More than just saving time and money, riders will get a fuel-pump upgrade here, as well. The fuel pumps from All Balls Racing reduce the pump’s working temperature and thereby significantly increase fuel-pump life when compared to a stock pump. Best of all, all this is easily installed. The kits come complete and even include the retaining nut and gasket. All Balls Racing has also made those retaining nuts and gaskets available separately in another convenient kit for those who don’t need to replace the entire module. This is a huge benefit since these nutand-gasket components can easily break due to the large amount of torque specified, and they’re not available separately from the OEM, All Balls says.
For those customers who don’t need to replace the entire OE fuel pump module, All Balls Racing has replacement kits that include just the parts needed for the repair.

S
port Touring riders on naked/roadster bikes, and Adventure Tourers who stay on the pavement should check out Michelin’s Road 5 and Road 5 Trail tires.
Both models serve up long-lasting, all-weather performance thanks to a whole list of cutting-edge technologies and design. These are tires coming with Michelin’s exclusive ACT+ carcass construction, the 2CT and 2CT+ multi-compounding, and the revolutionary and patented XST Evo water-drop sipes. Put it all together and these are tires with a lot to offer. Right at the top of the feature list here is that XST Evo water-drop sipe technology. These sipes allow the Road 5 and Road 5 Trail to deliver wet grip performance that lasts throughout the tire’s tread life. This is possible thanks to the unique inverted-pyramid shape of the XST Evo siping. Unlike ordinary siping the XST Evo sipes increase in size as the tire wears giving a well-worn tire the same water-evacuation capacity of a new tire. This means your customers can experience confident wetweather cornering and sure, safe and controlled braking throughout the life of the tire. Right along with that XST Evo siping, the Road 5 and Road 5 Trail come with Michelin’s ACT+ carcass technology and dual compounding, 2CT on the front and 2CT+ on the rear. These features bring an optimum design balance between the wet-weather grip and plenty of dry-road performance. With ACT+ and dual compounding there’s an overall improvement in grip, stability and handling feel. The ACT+ carcass has overlapping cross-ply angles for rigidity in the sidewall and shoulder areas for strong cornering power, while maintaining a high level of flexibility in the

No Compromise
High-Quality Rims and Drive Chains
T
he saying, “A chain can only be as strong as its weakest link,” applies not only to chains, but to rims as well. When replacing a customer’s wheel components, dealers should never compromise on quality. For more than 50 years Excel Rims has focused on strength, durability, safety and performance. Excel Rim offers a wide range of rim sizes and colors to choose from. Its products are also the rim of choice for 2018 Supercross Champion Jason Anderson and 2018 250SX motocross champions Aaron Plessinger and Zach Osborne. Excel Rim offers two grades of racing rims, the Excel A60 and the Excel Takasago.
A60 Rims
Excel Takasago rims are available in a much wider range of colors and sizes when compared to Excel A60. Rim colors include Black, Gold, Silver, Blue and Yellow. Excel Takasago rims can also be laced to both stock and aftermarket hubs. Excel Takasago Rims are used by 2018 250 National Outdoor Champion Aaron Plessinger of Star Racing Yamaha. “We Use Excel Rims because we’ve believed in the product for years, and the customer service is second to none,” notes Wil Hahn, team manager Star Racing Yamaha
Excel Spoke & Nipple Kits
A60 is Excel’s premium grade racing rim and was specifically developed for professional Supercross/ motocross racing applications. Excel A60 Rims are structurally 15 percent stronger than current Excel Takasago Rims and feature a VCurve profile to help mud slip off the rim to help reduce rotating wheel mass. This V-Curve profile also aids when cleaning the rim as there are no flat edges to allow mud to collect. A60 is only available in black and is characterized by a metallic silver pin stripe on both sides of the rim. Excel A60’s can be laced to both stock and aftermarket hubs. A60 rims are used by championship teams/riders including Jason Anderson and Zach Osborne of Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing, Cody Webb of FMF KTM Factory Racing off-road.
Takasago Rims Excel’s Takasago Series Rims are also suitable for Supercross/motocross racing and are constructed from 7 series aluminum alloy that meets or exceeds OEM quality specifications.

Excel Mini bike spoke kits use OE type steel square nipples.

From dawn ‘til dusk. Dealers, vendors and reps stayed out on the trails at Brimstone Recreation for as long possible. The area presented more than 300 miles of UTV fun.
Yes, many of the trails were like this. A perfect opportunity to demonstrate the awesome capabilities of today’s modern UTVs.

Given that the powersports business is proof that you can combine business with pleasure, Dillon Heinsius, parts manager at McGrath Powersports in Cedar Rapids, IA, said that after the event where he was able to connect with Dan Cheeseman from Klock Werks, he picked up a Flare UTV windshield for a showroom floor RZR.

Heinsius said his experience was so profound that other sales employees pull him in during a UTV sale to talk about his time at Brimstone. “I think that’s the number one driver of sales, first-hand knowledge and experience,” he said. “If I can inspire even one or two people to get a UTV and go experience what they can do, it will make a huge difference.”

Despite a steady rain, dealers and vendors enjoyed an outdoor concert at the Brimstone Recreation area.
Somewhat new to the UTV market, legendary exhaust pro Darryl Bassani reported that the event was a bit life changing for him, and opened up a whole new world of riding with side-by-sides.
The long-time parts manager attended the ride with another parts associate, Jeff Thirtyacre. Although he’s a veteran of Parts’ legendary dealer dirtbike ride, the UP300, he said that the UTV ride at Brimstone takes the cake. Those steep climbs. The rough rocks. The off-camber uphill trails. Brimstone had it all, and then some.
Out of the mist. On day two of the ride, the Brimstone Recreation site was filled with that low-hanging fog common to the Appalachians.
“It was awesome. It’s definitely something that me and Jeff haven’t stopped talking about since,” Heinsius said. “I come from sport quads and never experienced anything like it. I wish everyone from my dealership could have come.”

BOOTS
Sole Story
Behind the Broken Homme Boot Brand Longtime friends Josh Johnson (left) and Jim Leatherman launched Broken Homme in 2011 with an eye on designing, manufacturing and selling a US-made boot with timeless style.
B
oots are so much more than what they look like on the outside. That message is at the heart of Broken Homme, a lifestyle and work wear boot brand that has made the successful crossover into the motorcycle world. From the unseen details that make its boots sturdy and comfortable to the vision behind the brand, the founders of Broken Homme believe that their story is an important part of their products. Broken Homme is a new vendor for Parts Unlimited, which is now stocking the James, the Jaime and the Davis styles. The materials are all sourced in the USA before the boots are handmade at the Broken Homme factory in Los Angeles. All three boot styles feature sturdy 5-ounce fullgrain leather uppers, Goodyear welt construction, Vibram soles and true-to-fit sizing. Jamie boot
For Broken Homme founders Josh Johnson and Jim Leatherman, making the leap into the motorcycle industry was really not much of a leap at all. Both of them are motorcycle riders, and Johnson is a longtime racer. Since Broken Homme boots are built for longevity and tough environments, fellow riders quickly saw the appeal. Longtime friends Johnson and Leatherman started Broken Homme in Los Angeles in 2011. Their backgrounds in the action sports and footwear industries helped spark the idea to start a footwear company together.
Johnson and Leatherman did extensive research looking for the right materials, sources and factories before finally deciding to source all of the materials and hand-make all of the boots in the United States. The first boot styles debuted in late 2012. The two quickly found that Broken Homme appealed to customers with an action sports mentality who wanted a footwear option that was nicer than a sneaker, but still just as comfortable. The blend of fashion and functionality has a broad appeal, though Leatherman notes that Broken Homme boots seem to be especially popular with the younger generation of riders. As Broken Homme grew and production increased, the founders heard about a factory in Los Angeles that was producing steel-toe longshoremen boots. “The factory had been around since the early sixties,” says Leatherman. “It was an older factory and had fallen on some hard times, so we decided to move some of our production out of our other spots and really give this place a shot. We could really be on top of the manufacturing element because it was such a localized thing for us.” That was nearly five years ago, and now all of Broken Homme’s production is under the roof of that old factory. Keeping production close to home is important for Johnson and Leatherman, who take quality very seriously.

Features include Goodyear welt construction. Not only does that ensure a watertight seal, but it also means the boot can easily be re-soled to extend its life. Comfort comes from touches like the Vibram soles and cork foot beds that mold to the wearer’s foot over time for premium comfort. ■

Rectifier/Regulators for Lithium Ion Batteries
RECTIFIER/REGULATORS
Charged Right
Rick’s Motorsport Electrics now has rectifier/regulators designed specifically to work with today’s range of Lithium Ion batteries.
L
ithium Ion batteries are a great addition the powersports market. Small, light and superpowerful they prove handy for many situations. They’re great for sportbike riders looking to cut pounds, and work for custom builders because they can be mounted anywhere, even upside down. All this doesn’t come without a price. Compared to a conventional lead/acid battery a Lithium Ion isn’t cheap. A bigger consideration is that, compared to lead/acid batteries, Lithium Ion batteries demand a charging system held to a pretty narrow voltage range. Throw a motorcycle’s ordinary charging voltage at a Lithium Ion and there’s a good chance that problem solving, powerful little battery will malfunction. Rick’s Motorsport Electrics has an answer. Working with battery manufacturers, Rick’s has designed a brand-new lineup of replacement rectifier/regulators made with the correct voltage set points for a Lithium Ion battery. This is critically important as overcharging a Lithium Ion battery can ruin it in short order. The Rick’s Lithium Ion friendly rectifier/regulators take that worry right out of the equation and the application-lineup is broad and wide. Starting with the vintage bikes of the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s all enjoying a resurgence of popularity, and
continuing through to the bikes of the mid- and late2000s there are Lithium Ion friendly rectifier/regulators for almost all the popular Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha models. The numbers here are what make the difference. A standard rectifier/regulator, especially the ones on an older bike, will have a charging-voltage set point of 14.5 Volts to 14.8 Volts and for a lead/acid battery that’s just fine. However, a Lithium Ion battery will suffer some pretty severe damage when it’s charged at anything above 14.4 Volts. Their manufacturers actually recommend a slightly lower voltage than even that as best. Rick’s Lithium Ion friendly rectifier/regulators have been designed and engineered with a maximum charging set point of 14.2 Volts, well below the damage threshold for a Lithium Ion battery, but high enough to keep it fully charged and strong. Made with the same quality materials as the standard version Rick’s rectifier/regulators, they carry the same 1-Year Replacement Warranty. ■

Garage Buddy Steel Valve Kits
N
early all areas of off-road motorcycle racing today have starting lines filled with dirtbikes equipped with the latest, factory-level technology. Dirtbike technology has advanced greatly, and just about any stock bike on the showroom floor today is ready to go racing.
Wiseco’s Garage Buddy steel valve kits are a value-packed alternative to expensive OE titanium valves when it comes time to rebuild a valve train.
Unfortunately, bikes that are equipped with high-end parts also come with a high-end price tag. Many modern 4-stroke dirt bikes have come standard with titanium valves for a number of years. While titanium valves offer a great strength-to-weight ratio and allow for quick engine acceleration, they tend to have a shorter life span and higher cost. Titanium is an expensive material that is costly to machine and requires special coatings to deal with heat and wear, making the cost high when buying replacement titanium valves from the manufacturer. Wiseco’s new Garage Buddy steel valve kits are designed to be a more affordable way to refresh your customers’ high-tech dirtbikes’ valve trains. Wiseco Powersports

product manager Dave Sulecki notes, “Steel valves are a great low cost alternative to titanium, and offer longevity, reliability, and improved wear over titanium. Some customers are not always racing their vehicles, and just want longer service intervals and the peace of mind that comes with this material.” These kits include the valves and corresponding springs. “Because steel valves are a small percentage heavier than titanium valves, heavier-rate valve springs are required to control the valve and protect the engine from valve float (the condition where the heavier valve will stay open under high rpm engine speeds),” Sulecki explains. ■

rom roadracing to no roads at all, PSR makes parts that offer better performance, increased comfort and more setup choices. The company’s dual-sport applications include an adjustable kickstand, lowering links and a universal luggage rack. PSR’s dual-sport adjustable kickstand pairs well with the lowering links. The kickstand has an adjustable length of up to 1½ inches depending on the application. The forged aluminum construction offers lightweight durability, and the gunmetal finish helps guard against wear and tear. The encased heavy-duty spring is also designed for the rigors of dual-sport riding. The gunmetal lowering links are ideal for riders who need to reduce the seat height without any hassle. The direct bolt-on replacement links are easy to swap out from the OEM links, and PSR has applications for a wide variety of both dirtbike and dual-sport models. Safe Year-Round Charging
“
Y
es,” is the answer to the question often asked by riders and dealers alike: “Can I leave an OptiMate battery charger hooked up to my battery, even for months at a time?”
OptiMate’s unique 365 maintenance program means that your customers can keep a number of different type batteries in ready-tofire shape throughout the year, even if that battery is being charged year-round.
OptiMate’s unique 365 maintenance program was scientifically developed in 1994 to meet an objective set by Honda Motor Corporation. The company was looking for a maintenance charger that could keep a sealed AGM battery fully charged and ready, but without the loss of even a drop of electrolyte. The objective was achieved and since 1994, many millions of batteries have kept on performing, some for more than 10 years, all thanks to OptiMate’s unique 365 maintenance mode. With the introduction of Lithium batteries that hold higher voltage, special care is taken by OptiMate Lithium chargers to defend that small battery against drain from the vehicle.
TecMate recommends hooking up an OptiMate battery charger whenever your customers store their powersport vehicles, whether it’s for days, weeks or even months, especially in cold temperatures. The OptiMate battery charger keeps guard over the battery – if it needs a charge, it delivers hourly, protecting against excessive drain from the vehicle. This is very important for those small lithium batteries. With OptiMate taking care of their batteries, your customers will smile every time they press the starter button and hear that engine spring to life. ■

ust because something is good, doesn’t mean it can’t be better. Sunstar is always working to improve even its premier products, and the company’s racing-level off-road chain just got an upgrade in both style and function. The XTG Works sealed chain with TripleGuard now features a gold inner plate, an upgrade from the original natural inner plate. In addition to improving the aesthetics, the gold inner plate results in a longer-lasting chain life because it has a higher resistance to rust and corrosion. The XTG Works chain is built to withstand the demands of the toughest terrain that an off-road or ATV racer might encounter. A lot of that bolstered durability comes from the unique TripleGuard sealed ring design. It features three sealing lips and lubrication pools on each side of the ring. That intricate design provides lubrication while also guarding the critical areas of the chain from sand, dirt and other harsh elements. In addition to durability, Sunstar also designed the XTG chain to be strong, with a tensile strength rating of 8,500 lbs.

The mounting/dismounting machines and state-of-the-art digital balancers, especially the new MC200, won’t break the bank. In return you’ll have solid, dependable equipment you can count on for years to come. While K&L has plenty to choose from, a good start is with the MC900 Deluxe Tire Machine with its Power Assist Arm. Able to handle wheels up to 44-inches in diameter it’ll quickly dismount/mount the toughest motorcycle, automobile, ATV, UTV, and trailer tires without the worry of marring a wheel’s surface. Winter Charge
Battery Chargers and Battery Monitors
W
hether it’s something to help with offseason storage or a last-minute stocking stuffer, Battery Tender® is ready to help riders through the winter.
The Junior 12V 800 Selectable Lead Acid/Lithium Charger is powersports specific, so it won’t be found in other retail outlets. Its compact size is ideal for small spaces and it will charge AGM, Flooded, GEL or lithium batteries. An ISM (Infinite Sequential Monitoring) microcontroller ensures smooth transitions between charging steps. Battery Tender’s Power Tender 4 Amp Lead Acid and Lithium Charger is a premium, fully automatic tender that switches between 12V and 6V. An ISM microcontroller and LED indicators that show the state of the charge are included. The 4 Amp tender is 3 pounds and comes in a decorative, collectible metal canister. The Batter Tender Plus 12V 1.25 Amp Battery Charger carries a 10-year warranty from Battery Tender. Compatible with all lead acid, flooded or sealed maintenance-free batteries, it is designed to fully charge a battery and

maintain it at proper storage voltage without the damaging effects caused by trickle chargers. The 3-pound charger includes a quick-connect ring terminal harness for hard-to-reach areas. It has a complete four-step charging system – Initialization, Bulk Charge, Absorption Mode and Float Mode. The Battery Tender Wireless Battery Monitor allows riders to constantly monitor a battery’s charge. It connects via Wi-Fi and interacts with the DelTran Connected mobile device app. The monitor will send an alert if the battery is not holding the charge properly. ■

The RS-B1 Line
W
hile Braking classifies its RS-B1 front brake master cylinders as “entry level,” the features, fit and finish would like to argue otherwise. The street series of radial master cylinders includes safety features as well as adjustability. Parts Unlimited stocks four options in the RS-B1 line. They include two with a 16mm diameter piston for motorcycles with a single front disc and two with a 19mm piston for double front discs. Each size makes a good OEM replacement and comes in two color schemes – a gray/ silver master cylinder with a silver lever, or a black master cylinder with a black lever. The master cylinder body is made from anodized billet aluminum. The lever, meanwhile, is CNC machined from 7075-T6 aluminum before being anodized, too. The folding-type lever is designed to resist breaking in case of impact. Some riders may want to stick with the stock style and choose a silver lever, while the black options in 19mm (p/n 1731-0381) and 16mm (p/n 17310380) add some Johnny Cash-worthy aesthetics.
The RS-B1lineup of front brake master cylinders from Braking are a great style and performance upgrade over the stock parts.
In addition to the folding properties, the lever is also adjustable. The rider can choose from one of six positions to determine the distance between the lever and the handlebar for a perfect fit. Each RS-B1 brake master cylinder comes complete with an oil reservoir, with a 35cc size for the 19mm diameter and 12cc for the 16mm diameter. A brake light switch and rear-view mirror clamp are also included. ■

Performance Exhaust
Pipes for New 2-Stroke KTMs and Husqvarnas For performance without the maintenance, the Pro Circuit Platinum Pipe offers all the gains of the Works Pipe, but has a nickelplated finish that reduces the need for rider maintenance and helps protect the pipe against the elements. This is a great choice for riding areas that see extreme weather conditions.
Pro Circuit has a number of 4-stroke exhaust options for the new range of bikes from Husqvarna and KTM.
C
ustomers with new KTMs and Husqvarnas, we’re talking models from the 50cc bikes all the way up to the brawny 450s, need to see what Pro Circuit has ready for them.
Pro Circuit has a full range of performance pipes and silencers for those bikes. The lineup includes everything from the original Works Pipe to the Platinum Pipe, the TI-2 Shorty Carbon Kevlar/Titanium Silencers, 304 and R-304 Silencers, the Type 296 Spark Arrestor/ Silencers, T-6 Stainless Slip-Ons, TI-6 Titanium Systems and the TI-6 Pro Systems. Let’s start with the Works Pipe, the original Pro Circuit performance and power builder for every two-stroke application. Offered here for the 2019 KTM and Husqvarna models, the increase in horsepower and torque will be immediately noticed and felt across the full rpm range.
The Ti-2 Shorty Carbon Kevlar/Titanium Silencer is the latest piece of race-equipment from Pro Circuit and is also available for those 2019 bikes. Offered in several fitments, the TI-2 is similar to the popular R-304 silencer except here it’s constructed with a lightweight Carbon/Kevlar shell, Titanium tubing and with Titanium end-caps. Naturally, the R-304 Silencer is available for all these 2019 applications, as well. In fact, there are two, the R-304 Shorty and the slightly longer 304 Factory Sound Silencer. Both feature 6061 T-6 brushed-aluminum bodies along
The 2-stroke offerings from Pro Circuit additionally include a mix of silencers that not only reduce noise, but also boost performance.
The Works Pipes also look good. Stamped from high-quality carbon steel, all the seams are hand-pounded shut and then hand welded. The un-plated, oiled-metal finish does require some maintenance but for riders after that works look it’s well worth it.
with stainless steel inlet tubes and end-caps. The slightly longer 304 Factory Sound model reduces noise output as it adds a bit of top-end performance. Pro Circuit’s Type 296 Spark Arrestor Silencer is also in this 2019 Husky/KTM mix. The Type 296 is a good choice when a quiet spark arrestor/silencer is required for riding in noise sensitive areas or any National Forest. Meeting all U.S. Forest Service standards, the 296’s longer canister keeps noise levels to a minimum with no loss of engine performance. It’s also built tough and is constructed of aluminum and stainless steel with double-walled mounting brackets. ■
Customers with new model 2-strokes from Husky and KTM can also look to Pro Circuit for pipes that look great and perform even better.
