they know they perform just as well as the comparable gas-fueled model. Let’s shift now to another problem the motorcycle retail business has been struggling with for the last decade: lack of new riders. I don’t have to explain to those who are motorcycle dealers, there isn’t as much interest these days with teenagers in America to buy a motorcycle; in fact many don’t even think they need a driver’s license. The result of this psychographic change in America’s marketplace has impacted many industries, especially ours. When it began to happen a decade or so ago, motorcycle dealers luckily had a replacement for that lost business, side-bysides, or UTVs. That boom fed by motorsports enthusiasts literally has kept many motorcycle dealers in business, and it will continue to help do so in the years to come. But not everyone wants a four-wheeler, or the expense and time needed for trailering those big machines out to the riding areas on the weekends. Many people want the two-wheeling experience, even if there is some pedaling Soon to be available through Parts Unlimited: involved, such as with a Mountain bike. But we all know The Tazer MX from INTENSE LLC. TazerMX photo that before you can enjoy the wind in your face as you coast down a hill on a bicycle, first you must climb those hills…and that is where the all-new e-bikes come in. he management at Parts Unlimited was already looking to the future of retailing in the motorcycle and related powersports Electric power assists going up hills which allows riders to enjoy the industry when the doors opened for the recent NVP Product thrills and excitement of speeding back down the trails. T
For some background, electric-powered motorcycles for street use have been the would-be next step for our industry for many years now, but wide spread consumer acceptance never happened. Range and re-charge time have been the nemesis of the e-machines for street use. In my opinion, the new electric Harley-Davidson Live Wire is a great example of the wishful thinking that it, in truth, is (to borrow a line): “not ready for prime time.” The infrastructure alone in America’s cities and along the roads and highways stands in the way of an e-bike road rider trusting that he or she will have a recharging station waiting for them as their battery power runs out. Until re-charging stations become as common as gas stations, I don’t see e-bikes replacing our piston-powered machines any time soon. But having said that, something that isn’t lacking with electric powered machines is performance. Anyone who has ever ridden an e-powered motorcycle, driven a Tesla e-car or even gone to one of the indoor karting centers where electric powered cars are used,
America. So rather than leave all that “entry-level” business to the bicycle dealers, Parts Unlimited has partnered up with mountain bike innovator INTENSE LLC to offer a moto-inspired E-Mountain bike that will be available only thru Parts Unlimited for motorcycle outlets. Research is showing that the new generation of consumers, the “post-millennials” (also becoming known as Generation Z) are very conscious of the environment and they accept electric power as a primary power source of all things in the future. This is our chance to offer them a product they will adopt as a first machine for twowheeling, opening the door for the next steps after that, including motorcycle off-roading, motocross and even road bikes. Talk to your Parts Unlimited sales rep about how to become a dealer for the INTENSE E-bikes. In the meantime, stay healthy so you can be a part of the great future this sport and industry has ahead of it. ■

Parts Unlimited Jumps into E-Bike Market PLAN TO DISTRIBUTE BIKES AND ACCESSORIES
P
arts Unlimited has partnered with Intense LLC to distribute a special powersports-inspired version of its Tazer MX E-bike as well as a line of related parts, garments and accessories.
The agreement marks the first time a company – the LeMans Corporation – has moved to bring the growing E-bike market to powersports distribution. “Pedal-assist bicycles are quickly becoming a significant segment in our industry.” said Jeff Derge, VP of Sales for LeMans. “Many of the motorcycle OEMs are now selling E-bikes in Europe and the USA, and offering models that cover many riding styles. E-MTB, Road, Gravel, Commuter and Urban are some of most popular styles that are interesting for the Powersports channel.” The company is launching the Intense Tazer MX and an initial range of parts and accessories at its 2020 Fall NVP Product Expo in Madison, Wisconsin on August 22nd and August 23rd. “We’ll have products and experts on hand to speak with you about this new category,” Derge said. “And, like always, we will have the top brands and manufacturer representatives showing their new and top-selling products from every category in Powersports and American V-twin.” The LeMans Corporation said that it welcomes this opportunity to bring awareness and products of this growing market to its network of dealers.

“Intense has always engaged in and been inspired by motorsports with motocross and off-road motorcycling closely tied to our company’s history and products,” said Intense CEO Jeff Steber. “With the development of the Tazer, we created a true E-performance category in bicycling – innovating how E-MTB’s ride and perform while elevating the overall performance of the entire segment. With our new partnership with Parts Unlimited, we will be able to deliver a powersports-industry specific Tazer model to motorsports dealerships that’s made just for them.” Parts Unlimited dealers and sales reps got their first look at the E-bike at the recent 2020 NVP Product Expo in Louisville, Kentucky in February, where parent company LeMans Corporation hosted Intense LLC executives and the Tazer MX E-bike. The company had set up in a booth in the center of the show at the Kentucky International Convention Center. A forum was provided for dealers and vendors to share their experience with and opinions on this emerging market. The Intense Tazer MX E-bike was met with great interest and sparked many discussions on and off the Expo floor, as the e-mobility category starts to gain a foothold in powersports dealerships across the country. ■

This year, with Drag Specialties now housed in its own corporate booth at the shows, Parts Canada was able to dedicate its entire 2500 square foot booth solely to displaying apparel. In support of its dealers, who simply cannot display every new part from their apparel catalogue, and to reach out directly to the consumers, Parts Canada has been participating in the Canadian show tour for many years. The experience of being able to see, touch and even try on the new product that will be out on the dealers shelves for the coming season is super exciting for the customers. Adventure Market Overview
BIKE, GEAR + ACCESSORIES FOR DUAL-SPORTING
A
dventure and dual-sport motorcycles are continuing to grow market share as more OEMs jump into the mix with a range of large- and small displacement machines.
Stoked by riders seeking a motorcycle that’s as useful as a multi-tool, Adventure bike sales have increased an incredible +85 percent during the past decade. They have accounted for approximately 3.5 percent of new motorcycle sales in the U.S. last year, according to figures recently compiled by Minneapolis-based research firm Power Products Marketing (PPM). Reminiscent of standard road bikes, but with longer travel suspensions, a compliant seating position, racks and wind protection, Adventure bikes have become the SUVs of the two-wheel world. This ever-growing category is marked by street-oriented models like the BMW F 900 XR, Ducati Multistrada 1260, Honda VFR1200X and Kawasaki Versys, to more capable, doall models like the Honda CRF1100L, KTM 790 Adventure R, Triumph 800XCx and upcoming Yamaha Ténéré.

Dual-sport motorcycles can tackle mountain trails and roads with equal vigor, and their relatively low purchase price, standard operating platform and utility effectiveness makes them a target for beginner and experienced riders alike. While dual-sports represent 4.5 percent of two-wheelers sold in the US annually, according to PPM, sales have increased +33 percent in the past decade. Small size dual models, up to 300cc, have historically represented the largest share of the dual-sport market. Small size models include the Honda CRF250L, Kawasaki KLX230 and Yamaha WR250R. These attractively priced smaller displacement dual-sports are often preferred by novice riders, commuters, and even travelers capable of carrying a two-wheeler piggyback on a larger vehicle like an RV or boat. Medium size dual-sport models, from 301-650cc, include the Honda XR650L, Husqvarna FE 501s, KTM 690 Enduro R, Suzuki DR650S, and the gone but not forgotten Kawasaki KLR650. Like smaller dual sports, the medium sized models feature relatively low purchase prices and are purchased by both novice and experienced riders.

PARTS + ACCESSORIES
Of course, once your customers are outfitted with the bike of their dreams, now is your opportunity to introduce them to the Parts Unlimited catalogs. Your dealership and Parts Unlimited can not only make sure their bikes are properly accessorized, you can also get those riders the helmets, apparel and boots they’ll need. Check out the 2020 Helmet and Apparel Catalog and other Parts Unlimited catalogs for the full scoop on everything from rugged all-weather-and-condition apparel and tires to Adventure-style luggage and seating designed for long days of riding. Alpinestars’ Venture R jacket was developed and tested in conditions such as the Dakar, and is tough and durable with reinforced stitching. In addition to offering protection, the Venture R Jacket is comfortable and flexible. Customers will appreciate the many pockets and zippered air intakes. Icon’s popular Raiden line of gear was developed to protect from Mother Nature, as well as against spills and get-offs while out on the road. The newest addition to the Raiden line includes a matching jacket and pants as well as gloves. Each piece meets the rigorous standards for Icon’s Waterproofing Level 3, which is certified to keep a rider warm and dry during the most inclement weather. Both jacket and pant feature D3O impact protectors where they matter most, and have multiple points of adjustability to ensure a perfect fit. For Moose Racing, there’s the XCR and Qualifier gear, which is designed to perform well in a variety of conditions, whether its picking your way through open desert, exploring mountain terrain, or blasting down the interstate. For helmets, look to Z1R’s new, adventure-minded Range MIPS Dual Sport helmet. The MIPS Brain Protection System (BPS) - found inside the helmet, generally between the comfort padding and the multi-density EPS liner - allows the head to move inside the helmet, which can reduce the harmful rotational motion otherwise transferred to the brain. The Adventure bike market is continuing its upward swing, and with more and more OEMs introducing both small- and large-displacement bikes for the 2020 model year, there’s a ride sure to fit new and existing customers. Talk with your Parts Unlimited sale reps about all the great parts, apparel and accessories available for the booming segment. ■

Battling Mother Nature
Staying Comfortable on Every Adventure
dventure gear is as much about guarding against Mother Nature as it is about guarding against unexpected encounters with the ground. The new Icon Raiden line helps Adventure riders armor themselves against both.

The Raiden pants also have an array of technical elements to make them resistant to the weather. The lower-leg hookand-loop adjustments have a waterproof gutter system, and the full-leg YKK zippers are completely waterproof. DuPont Kevlar inner leg panels guard against heat and abrasion.
Icon introduced its new Raiden line during the Louisville NVP, with a collection that includes a matching jacket and pants as well as a complementary glove. Each piece meets the rigorous standards for Icon’s Waterproofing Level 3, which is certified to keep a rider warm and dry during the most inclement weather. All three pieces come in sizes S-3XL.
Icon’s overpant fit means the shell is cut generously enough to fit over normal pants, but they can be worn alone, too. Removable, adjustable bibs add to the fitment possibilities. Reflective paneling adds a hit of visibility, while the D3O impact protectors in the hips and knees are designed to take a hit. Cargo pockets and top leg vents make the Raiden pants even more functional.
The Raiden jacket and pants both begin with a Dupont three-layer nylon shell that is both waterproof and breathable. Waterproof zippers and fully seam-sealed taping help battle the elements, too. The 500D Cordura nylon in the impact zones adds an extra layer of tarmac resistance. By choosing superior materials, Icon is able to offer gear that has minimal bulk and maintains a wide range of motion, while still providing weather adaptability and warmth on those cold riding days. Color options for the jacket and pants include gray/hi-viz or black so a rider can be wildly conspicuous or stealth.
The Icon Raiden gloves combine warmth and waterproofing: the PrimaLoft insulation keeps out the cold, and the Hipora liner keeps out water. D3O knuckles add reinforcement but not bulk. The Raiden gloves have a tough textile chassis combined with an Ax Laredo palm. The material has advanced stretch and recovery characteristics to provide a snug and contoured fit while still maintaining durability. ■
The Raiden jacket comes equipped with a full D3O impact protector package for the shoulders, elbows and back. It also has reflective detailing for added visibility. The fit can be tailored via the hook-and-loop side, collar and wrist adjustments. A stretch cord on the biceps allows a rider to tighten everything down to prevent flapping at speed. Seven pockets ensure that the Raiden jacket has places to stash plenty of trail supplies.

Adventure Touring, and check out www.rideicon.com for more. Icon’s new lineup of Raiden gear is certified to keep riders warm and dry during the most inclement weather. It also features plenty of pockets and a range of D3O impact protection.
For warmer days, the Raiden jacket has a stretch-cord expansion intake ventilation system that pairs with the exhaust ports to prevent moisture buildup and overheating. Riders can battle cold weather with a removable insulated liner. As a bonus, the liner can be worn by itself, too.

Stopping On Any Surface Tarmac-to-Trail Braking Solutions
S
treet riding and off-road riding both have unique challenges. While Adventure Touring and dualsport riding offer the best of both worlds, they also offer the worst of both worlds. Braking systems have to be able to stand up to everything from twisty mountain roads to dirty trails, and they have to offer reliable performance in all types of weather. EBC Brakes has brake pads and rotors that are tough enough for tarmac and trail. When riding conditions are wet and dirty, the life of the brake pads can be significantly shortened. To help fight against that, EBC Brakes has Double-H Sintered Superbike Brake Pads to ensure maximum stopping power and long life.
The Double-H pads are American-made from ultra-high friction sintered alloy, which helps them perform well in both dry and wet conditions. These pads have become the flagship sintered brake pad for EBC Brakes, with applications going well beyond the Superbike in the name. Another brake pad that performs great on Adventure and dual-sport bikes also has applications beyond what is included in its name. EBC Brakes EPFA Sintered Fast Street and Trackday Pads are great for performance sportbike riding, but they provide benefits for riders who like to get adventurous on those epic mountain passes with switchback after switchback combined with endless dirt roads. Adventure bikes are often loaded to the max, with extra luggage for those long-haul excursions. This extra weight makes brakes work harder and can cause the pads to heat up more than usual, leading to brake fade. The EPFA pads were specifically designed to have improved heat cycling and resistance to fade, offering long life as well as predictability. (If you’re wondering, the acronym stands for “Extreme Performance FA” to denote this highperformance line of EBC Brakes pads.) The EPFA sintered pads, which are made in the USA, are also a great fit for heavy streetbikes and cruisers because of those same fade-resistant characteristics.
EBC has direct fitments of its Double-H pads and rotors for the liquid-cooled BMW R1200/1250 GS.
The Ducati Multistrada is a popular Adventure machine, and your customers can upgrade the brakes on their bikes with EBC’s Double-H pads and full-floating rotors.

Up front, Adventure riders can take advantage of EBC Brakes Floating MC rotors. These ultra-lightweight rotors provide improved heat dissipation, alignment and braking performance and have a long life. The stainlesssteel, high-friction rotor blades ensure maximum brake effect, and EBC Brakes has a patented S-Drive button system that allows the outer rotor blade to expand and contract freely under the heat of braking without the risk of rivet lock. EBC Brakes Floating MC Rotors are available in two different series. X rotors have full circular rotor blades, while the XC series features a contoured profile for lighter weight. EBC Brakes Stainless Steel Rear Brake Rotors replace OEM rotors without requiring any changes, but they do make a big change in a bike’s braking performance. The contoured profile reduces weight, and the design helps keep debris from sticking to the rotors to ensure continued reliable braking, even in dirty riding conditions. EBC Brakes pads are the perfect match for the stainless steel discs, and they are developed together to offer outstanding bite, braking consistency and longevity. ■

Auto Clutches for Adventure Bikes
With a Rekluse auto clutch, stalling is a thing of the past and riders can focus on line selection and power delivery while enjoying precise and consistent clutch performance.

our diehard off-road customers are likely familiar with Rekluse’s famous range of auto clutches. The innovative clutch components offered by the Boise, Idaho company have revolutionized riding, and the technology is relied on by everyone from backwoods trail riders to Supercross champions. With a Rekluse auto clutch, stalling is a thing of the past and riders can focus on line selection and power delivery while enjoying precise and consistent clutch performance. Now Rekluse is excited to offer its ride-enhancing technology for bigger off-road machines, namely Adventure bikes from BMW, Honda, KTM, and Husqvarna. For your customers who take their BMW F850GS, Honda Africa Twin, KTM 1090 Adventure, Husqvarna Enduro 701, or other full-size Adventure bikes off pavement, Rekluse’s RadiusX clutch kit is a great upgrade that’s as easy to install as swapping the clutch pack. The package includes Rekluse’s EXP disc, steel drive plates, springs (varies by model) and TorqDrive friction plates, both of which slot into the stock clutch basket and work with the OEM clutch hub and pressure plate. The key ingredient in the RadiusX kit, and in the heart of every Rekluse auto clutch, is the EXP expanding clutch disc. This innovative centrifugal device looks like an extrathick clutch plate and serves to automatically engage and disengage the clutch based on engine rpm. With the EXP disc, riders can start and stop without touching the clutch lever. However, the lever still remains fully functional for shifting or for when a pop of power is needed to raise the front wheel over an obstacle. Clutchlever slack adjustment remains the same as with stock

componentry, and the EXP disc’s engagement rpm is fully adjustable to suit rider preferences. The other central component in the RadiusX kit is Rekluse’s TorqDrive friction plates, which are also available as a standalone upgrade that’s available for a massive range of dual-sport and on-road bikes. These plates have a number of features that enable them to handle more torque, offer better modulation and last longer than stock components. For starters, the TorqDrive plates are thinner, which means more of them (up to six more!) can fit in the OEM basket, which increases torque capacity of the clutch. Additionally, TorqDrive discs use steel cores that have a lower expansion rate than OEM aluminum parts, leading to reduced clutch fade under heavy use. Add to that a refined friction material and basket sleeves that help prevent notching of the factory clutch basket, and you have a clutch pack that can last several times longer than the OEM pack. ■

iders on metric cruisers, touring bikes, dual-sport and Adventure machines or in a UTV might not seem to have much in common. However, there is one thing that bonds them all together – the common need for something to keep a phone, a GPS, an action camera or even a cool drink securely mounted and right at hand. Ciro has what is needed here, and offers a whole selection of cleverly designed ball mount systems, and an interchangeable variety of accessories such as smartphone holders, cup holders and camera mounts. With these various products, your customers can keep their items securely mounted and easy to access. The ball mounts are available in Chrome or Satin Black. The perch ball mount system is available to fit a wide variety of motorcycles, and can be used on the left or right side. It is fully adjustable and swivels 360-degrees in two directions to put those drinks or devices wherever they’re wanted. Ciro also offers a universal fit bar mount ball system, an aluminum bar-mount clamp available for 7/8-inch, 1-inch and 1¼-inch handlebar sizes. There are also stud mount ball systems. There is a big range of those easy-to-mount accessory holders, a lineup that includes the Ciro drink holders. These holders are available in a standard size that measures 3¼-inches across on its face and 41/8-inches deep, and the Big Ass size, which measures 41/8-inches wide and 5¾-inches deep. The latter is designed specifically to accommodate 30-ounce tumblers. Both come in Chrome or Black, and feature a durable neoprene rubber molded net designed to securely grip cups, cans or tumblers. The rubber is weatherproof and won’t deteriorate in the sun or the elements. Ciro’s smartphone/GPS holders are just as handy and just as easily put in place on those ball mounts. Available with or without a built in 1.3-amp USB plug-in to charge while riding (cable not included) the holders are designed for quick and simple use. Requiring just a one-time adjustment for any phone or GPS, the flip of a single lever locks the device into the holder’s rubber-molded fingers. Almost infinitely adjustable on the Ciro ball mount, a broad range of viewing angle adjustments are available. In addition to the drink and device holders, there are mounts made specifically to use with GoPro cameras. Like the others, these attach quickly and securely to the ball mount systems. ■
Ciro’s drink holders easily attach to the company’s range of ball mounts, which can be attached to everything from a UTV roll cage to an Adventure bike’s handlebars.
Ciro also has mounts made specifically to use with GoPro cameras.
Many riders now prefer to keep smartphones and GPS units in view and at hand while out on the road. Ciro’s range of ball mounts and holders make that possible.

HYDRAULIC CLUTCH KITS
Performance and Control Lighten That Heavy Clutch Pull
Upgrading from a stock clutch to a Magura HYMEC hydraulic clutch will result in a significantly lighter clutch pull and a consistent engagement point.
W
hen it comes to clutch operation, cables may be the most common form of actuation, but that doesn’t mean they’re the best option. Frequent adjustment, susceptibility to wear and corrosion, a heavier lever pull and inconsistent performance are just a few drawbacks associated with using a cable-actuated clutch. The superior alternative, often reserved for more expensive or performanceoriented machines, is hydraulic actuation. For decades, if the factory didn’t make a bike with a hydraulic clutch, your customers were out of luck. Now, thanks to Magura’s HYMEC (short for hydraulicmechanical) conversion kit, your customers can quickly and easily convert their cable clutch to hydraulic operation for more precise and consistent control and performance. Magura’s HYMEC was originally created for off-road machines, but the application list is always expanding and the German firm is proud to announce that kits are now available for BMW’s F700GS and F800GS, the Honda CRF450R/L (2019), the KTM 790 platforms (2020), Yamaha’s FZ-07 and MT-07 (2014 to 2020), and Yamaha’s MT-09, FZ-09, FJ-09 and XSR900 (2014 to 2020). With a HYMEC hydraulic clutch system, these excellent motorcycles can be made even more enjoyable to ride.
How? Well with a HYMEC, your customers will experience a significantly lighter clutch-lever pull (25 percent lighter, on average), a clearly defined and consistent engagement point, plus a reach-adjustable lever for improved comfort. The 167 master cylinders that are used on some models even have a fold-away lever to help prevent lever and master cylinder damage in the event of a tip over. Another major benefit to hydraulic actuation is that the system self-adjusts for clutch-plate wear and component expansion due to heat associated with heavy use, so it’s great for hard-charging riders or anyone who’s not a fan of setting and adjusting cable free play. Magura’s HYMEC replaces the stock lever, perch and cable with Magura’s premium adjustable lever, compact master cylinder, hydraulic hose and slave cylinder. It’s a complete kit that’s a snap to install and comes pre-bled and ready to go. Magura’s mineral oil clutch fluid doesn’t need regular replacement like DOT brake fluids, so the system is essentially maintenance free. ■

“Last year we talked about how important product knowledge is to the shopping experience, and this year’s show saw a significant increase of attendees per dealer. It was wonderful to see the dealers finding the value and engaging more of their staff.” On the Friday night before the opening of the show, the collective Parts Unlimited and Drag Specialties sales force was recognized for its 2019 achievements at the Night of the Stars Awards Banquet. Right from the start, the Parts Unlimited NVP Product Expo was all about delivering essential information about the vendors and products that fill all those Parts catalogs. Once the show opened on Saturday morning, dealers had all day to visit exhibitors and see all the new products destined for dealership shelves and counters.

Saturday’s show ended with a dealer ‘happy hour’ before the whole show moved over to the Sports & Social Club in the heart of Louisville’s 4th Street Live! district for the now-iconic LeMans Meet & Greet. Attendees enjoyed food, drinks, games, robust camaraderie and the Tampa Supercross on more than 60 TVs. Sunday found the convention center expo hall just as packed as dealers finished up their rounds with the assembled vendors. At the closing of the show, one lucky vendor – Bill Kazer, owner of Motorcycle Supply – won a trip to the 2020 Parts Unlimited Dealer Ride. “2020 is going to be a great year if this show is any indication,” says Mike Collins, President of LeMans Corporation. “We need only to carry this enthusiasm and optimism into the rest of the year.”

M
odern adventure bikes are highly-capable machines, which means they need an equally capable tire that can perform well across an incredibly wide range of riding conditions. Dunlop wanted to reinvent the 50/50 tire to offer customers a high-performance solution with reliable grip on any surface and outstanding mileage. After extensive research, development and testing, the Dunlop Trailmax Mission is now ready for any kind of adventure. Throughout the consumer research phase, what Dunlop engineers kept hearing is that riders wanted a 50/50 tire that did not require making a big compromise. Just because a tire does one thing well does not mean it should be lacking in another area. While it was easy to identify that need, designing a tire to meet it was a challenge. Back in 2015, Dunlop was re-acquired by Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI), the parent brand of Falken Tires. The engineers at Falken had achieved great success with an all-terrain light truck tire called the AT3W, so the Dunlop engineers tapped into Falken’s knowledge to help create the new Trailmax Mission motorcycle tire. Dunlop’s testing and R&D team developed the Mission at Dunlop’s proving grounds in Huntsville, Alabama, as well as testing at locations all over the country. It took two years to get the Mission to production, but patience has been

In fact, the Mission is one of the most versatile tires ever made by Dunlop. It is also the first off-road capable tire to be completely designed and manufactured at the company’s factory in Buffalo, New York. Dunlop has a range of DOT tires designed for the Adventure/dual-sport segment. On one end of the spectrum, the Roadsmart III is designed exclusively for street riding. On the other end, the D908RR is ready for an off-road rally. A number of tires land in between those two, with the Trailmax Mission sitting right in the middle. The Mission is able to straddle the line between street and off-road thanks to a range of design and composition choices by Dunlop’s engineers. The aggressive tread pattern ensures traction on hard terrain. Staggered step tread blocks give side knobs more rigidity while creating more biting edges so that as the tread wears, the next biting edge takes over traction duties. Wrap-around lugs on the tire’s edge provide a protective barrier against sharp rocks while also boosting off-road traction. The tread design also has deep grooves that excel in wet-weather conditions, which is especially beneficial for street riding. The grooves double as biting edges to create traction during off-road riding, too. New compounds were developed for the Mission to ensure a balance between on- and off-road performance while also boosting mileage. RZR Performance Exhaust Increased Power, Improved Sound
Trinity Racing’s performance exhaust systems and slip-on mufflers for the Polaris RZR PRO XP will add a nice touch of performance and improved exhaust tone to that line of popular side-by-sides.
A
re your customers looking to improve the performance of their new Polaris RZR PRO XPs? One good place to start is with a free-flowing exhaust from Trinity Racing. Trinity offers a full, turbo back exhaust system, as well as slip-on mufflers for the PRO XP. Both styles of exhaust will not only improve performance, but will drastically improve the look and sound of your customers’ vehicles. No matter what your customer chooses, they can’t go wrong, but here’s a little information to help with any decision making. The full system includes a 2½-inch stainless steel turbo back header pipe. The full system starts with a stainless head pipe and works its way back to two 18-inch aluminum muffler bodies. The mufflers are designed to flow as much exhaust out of the engine as quickly as possible. This in turn increases horsepower and torque by allowing the exhaust gases to exit faster than the OEM exhaust.
Both exhausts will increase the tone of the PRO XP, but it’s not an overbearing sound. Expect a nice deep rumble, and a seriously impressive increase in horsepower. Trinity’s own RZR saw upwards of 28-horsepower over stock to the wheels when paired up with a Powervision® tuner and full system.
Internally, there are two stainless steel perforated baffles, each wrapped with a sealed pillow of fiberglass. This muffler packing is extremely dense, difficult to burn up, and gives the RZR that deep rumble riders expect from a Trinity exhaust. At the rear of the exhaust are two machined billet aluminum tips, and two stainless turn-out tips.
If a customer wants to quiet the car down some, two quiet cores are included in the box. These will bring the sound down to near stock levels. If your customers are riding somewhere that requires a spark arrestor, there are also two US Forestry approved spark arrestors included.
The great thing about the turn-out tips is that they are fully 360 degree adjustable. This allows those with a spare tire hanging off the back of the vehicle to run the exhaust facing down. Or, if a customer is trying to direct the exhaust in a specific direction, that adjustability makes it easy.

Maintenance and Upgrades
Cam-Chain Tensioners and OEM-Style Clamps in any of those situations. Easily installed, it comes with a custom CNC-machined adapter to mount in the same location as the OEM hydraulic tensioner it replaces without any modifications to the engine. It’s competitively priced and in stock at Parts Unlimited.
Hot Cams’ Polaris cam-chain tensioner conversion kit is a great upgrade over the stock part, and helps maintain constant pressure on the cam chain during all operating conditions.
For four-wheelers and motorcycles, maintenance and engine work sometimes means having to replace all those OEM fuel line clamps. Rather than resort to using ordinary, screw-type clamps, Fuel Star has a number of fuel line clamp kits that are strong and tidy looking. Those Fuel Star clamp kits are manufactured to meet or exceed the OEM look, fit and performance. The kit includes 28 different size hose and line clamps ranging from 7mm to 17mm ID. The box containing all the clamps is clearly labeled with part numbers for each clamp-size, too, keeping things organized and making four-pack replacement orders simple. ■

For your four-wheeling customers with Polaris vehicles, the stock hydraulic cam-chain tensioner can often use some help. Not only is it noisy, its design reportedly doesn’t allow for constant tension on the cam chain, and that can lead to all manner of problems. A Hot Cams Polaris cam-chain tensioner conversion can take care of that problem. This automatic/mechanical cam-chain tensioner is a direct replacement for the problem-prone OEM hydraulic cam-chain tensioner used in many of those Polaris engines. While the stock tensioner can allow the cam chain to fluctuate considerably in different conditions, the Hot Cams tensioner maintains constant pressure on the cam chain during all operating conditions. The consistent and constant cam-chain tension of the Hot Cams automatic/mechanical camchain tensioner assures that the cam chain doesn’t jump teeth and cause engine damage

Take It on the Trail Storage Solutions for UTVs
G
etting off-road requires preparation and, often, a don’t-forget list of supplies. Those supplies have to be stashed securely, which is why Warn has a new line of storage solutions that keep everything safely tucked away on a UTV. The red Warn badge is associated with tough, dependable parts like winches and bumpers. The company’s Epic Trail Gear is designed to be every bit as rugged as Warn’s hard parts. Warn Epic Trail Gear includes premium on-vehicle storage bags, fire extinguisher holders and sturdy roll bar grab handles. The pieces can be used singly or combined to maximize storage space on a UTV. The Epic Trail Gear bags are made from marine-grade, fade-proof vinyl. The sturdy material is also weather-resistant to help guard the contents inside. Integrated MOLLE-compatible PALS webbing allows them to attach directly and securely to any off-road vehicle, with plenty of placement options. Premium zippers stay firmly in place and help keep dirt and water at bay. One of the things that should always be on the don’t-forget list is a fire extinguisher. Warn has both a standard-duty (p/n 40400050) and a premium (p/n 4050-0051) roll bar fire extinguisher holder. The standard-duty version securely holds a 1-pound, 2½-pound or 5-pound extinguisher via three hook-andloop straps. The premium holder, which will accommodate a 2½-pound extinguisher, is equipped with stretch material that covers all but the top of the bottle to keep it sheltered from the elements.
Warn’s full-size passenger grab handle bag adds an extra bit of convenient storage space, including a mesh outer pocket for items that need to be easily accessible.
Warn’s Epic Trail Gear range offers an impressive lineup of rugged storage solutions for your UTV customers. The bags are made from marine-grade fade-proof vinyl.
Epic Trail Gear roll bar bags come in multiple configurations to fit a variety of locations. The large bag (p/n 3540-0058) and medium bag (p/n 3540-0057) are both cylindrical in shape, with two straps for easy mounting to a roll bar. There is also a triangle-shaped roll bar bag (p/n 35400056) with straps on two sides so that it can be attached to the triangular section on roll bars. Warn’s roll bar grab handles (p/n 0521-1771) offer a secure place to reach for when getting in or out of the vehicle. The handles themselves are made from premium

Keeping Off-Road Bikes Up and Running Many of the other new Moose Racing products that debuted in Louisville are intended to keep bikes running smoothly and looking good, all without a hassle. That begins with a bike actually being able to start. Moose Racing has a new lithium battery and two new charging/ monitoring accessories to keep things ready to go. The Moose Racing lithium battery is absolutely maintenance-free, with no heavy metals or acid to deal with. That means that the battery can be mounted in any direction. Another advantage of a lithium battery, when compared to a lead-acid battery, is that the weight is up to 60 percent lighter. The Moose Racing lithium battery has a six-minute fast recharge time and can sit idle for 12 months before it needs a boost. Moose Racing teamed up with Optimate for a new charger and a charge system monitor that are compatible with any 12V lead-acid battery or 12.8V lithium battery. The Moose Racing Optimate 1 Duo charger has a four-step program with a low-voltage start of 4V. It tests the battery and delivers only what is needed to prevent overcharging.

oose Racing had a lot of new products for dealers to check out at the Louisville NVP. Although the company’s new F.I. Agroid MIPS off-road helmet and Agroid gear got a lot of attention, Moose Racing’s new products are primarily focused on tools and service items. It’s no surprise that the F.I. Agroid MIPS helmet was such a hit with dealers. The helmet is, as the name implies, equipped with MIPS technology. A low-friction layer between the shell and the liner acts to deflect energy in the event of an angled head impact during a crash. According to Moose, the redistributed forces mean that there is less risk of a brain injury. While the F.I. Agroid MIPS is impressive for what’s hidden on the inside, it also has a lot going for it in the looks and features department. The extra-large eyeport lets goggles fit into place easily, and the unique friction hinge visor is easy to adjust but stays securely in place. Nine intake and three exhaust vents keep up a constant flow of air through the liner.

Can-Am and Polaris UTV models can now get a significant lighting upgrade with the Moose Utility Division LED headlights and taillights.
It has been a while since Moose Utility Division had any bumpers in its lineup, and now there are plenty of front and rear fitments for ATVs and UTVs. The ATV bumpers are made from 1.5-inch tubular steel and the UTV bumpers are a bit thicker, measuring in at 1 ¾-inches. The strong, durable bumpers have a simple bolt-on design so that no drilling is necessary to add this extra line of defense against nature. There are multiple frame mounting points to make sure the bumpers are secure even during the toughest rides. The full-coverage styling of the bumpers gives riders confidence that their frame and bodywork are well guarded, while the black powder coating on the bumpers themselves means that the steel is tough and weatherproof. Honda bumpers come in a gloss finish, and the Yamaha applications have a wrinkle finish. While bumpers are making their return to the Moose Utility lineup, LED lighting is all-new for the brand. Can-Am and Polaris UTV models can now get a significant lighting upgrade with the Moose Utility Division LED headlights and taillights. Designed to replace stock halogen lights or existing LED lights, these lights provide brilliant illumination and long life. Not only will they light the trail ahead better than halogen bulbs, but they also add a touch of style to the vehicle.
LED taillights
There are also a variety of styling and finish options available for the lights. In addition to color choices of chrome or black for the housing, some applications also have the option of an additional LED halo for added illumination. Blacked out lenses are another available option for some models. Another new LED lighting solution from Moose Utility Division is a license plate bracket with molded-in LED lighting. The lightweight ABS bracket has a low-profile design to fit snugly onto a vehicle, and it mounts easily with included hardware plus power and ground wire leads. ■

Upgraded Intercom Technology
Sena’s 50R Mesh intercom headset is a low-profile communication option that is easy to operate. It provides enhanced audio over long distances and many robust features.
Like the 50R, the 50S headset has been upgraded with many great new features, including integrated digital assistant access and the ability to respond to eight different languages.
C
ommunication is clearer, more reliable and even more comfortable than before with the technology-packed Sena 50S and 50R Mesh intercom headsets. Sena Technologies took their trusted design and refined it to ensure that it features the latest technology and an improved fit so riders can stay in touch with ease. The 50S and 50R share the same upgrades and features. The 50R is a lower-profile option for riders who want something a little slimmer. The 50R achieves that with a simplified layout with three-button functionality. Both intercom devices are equipped with Sena’s Mesh 2.0 Intercom technology. Mesh 2.0 provides connectivity that is more robust. The connections between devices are not just stronger but also more agile, which means the Mesh 2.0 network responds better to any real-time changes riders may experience. Because of that, audio is enhanced over long distances and communication is improved in harsher environments, such as near buildings or in road congestion. With the 50S and 50R, six people can speak at the same time, while the number of listeners is virtually limitless when using the multi-channel Open Mesh option. With Open Mesh, a rider can switch between the channels to converse with different groups participating in Mesh communication. The other option for riders is Group Mesh, which creates a private group for up to 24 participants.

Other upgraded technology in the Sena 50S and 50R includes the latest 5.0 Bluetooth as well as integrated digital assistant access. Need to find a gas station or request some music? Simply ask Siri or Google Assistant to help out. Voice command capabilities have also been expanded, with the intercoms now responding to eight different languages. When fully charged, the 50S provides 14 hours of Bluetooth intercom communication or nine hours of Mesh intercom use. The 50R’s fully-charged talk time is 13 hours via Bluetooth or eight hours with Mesh intercom. With so much upgraded technology in the units, Sena didn’t want to neglect the speakers, either. The improved design offers both better sound and more comfort. The beveled speaker edges and slightly slimmer size provide a better fit inside the helmet. Sound enhancements include more range for the bass and mid-range areas as well as audio EQ presets that provide a variety of new soundscapes. In all, the volume of the 50S and 50R is 7% louder than on previous Sena intercom models. Each headset comes equipped with a Wi-Fi adapter that works to both charge the unit and automatically install firmware updates. All it requires is a one-time setup via the app. The fast-charging unit is an impressive 30 percent faster than its predecessors, and just 20 minutes of charging will provide up to three hours of Mesh communication or five hours of Bluetooth communication. Like the headsets themselves, the Sena 50 utility app has also been updated with a fresh look and additional features to ensure a truly customized communication experience. ■

Two New T-6 Systems
EXHAUSTS
Small Bikes, Big Performance
As part of Pro Circuit’s T-6 family of exhausts, these new mini-moto systems are built to add power and performance for the new small-displacement Kawasaki and Yamaha models.
A
t Pro Circuit, improving the performance of dirtbikes, both big and small, is what it’s all about. The company has a lineup of pipes and silencers to make all of those bikes a whole lot more fun to ride, whether they’re 450cc motocross machines or those youth-sized small-displacement bikes.
All the same designs, features and benefits as the standard-sized Pro Circuit T-6 stainless steel exhaust systems are here, just designed to fit those smaller Kawasaki and Yamaha models. There’s maximum performance, big boosts in horsepower and torque, an undeniably cool look, a great sound, and plenty of durability.
Two of the newest additions here are a pair of mini-moto exhaust systems for a couple of those bikes aimed at riders getting their first taste of dirt riding, the Kawasaki KLX110 and the Yamaha TT-R110E. For the Kawasaki there is the T-6 system for the 2010 through 2020 models, and for the Yamaha the applications cover all the 2008 through 2020 bikes. The applications might be mini-moto for these two new systems but there’s nothing entry-level about either one of them.
Like all Pro Circuit T-6 systems, the mini-moto T-6s start off with a stainless-steel head pipe. There’s a brushedaluminum canister with an asymmetrical configuration allowing for increased packing volume and all this is topped off with a carbon-fiber end cap and a USFS-approved spark arrestor.
These genuine T-6 stainless steel exhaust systems are Pro Circuit through-and-through, and both come with everything a young rider could want. Just as the Pro Circuit Ti-6 Pro systems increase performance for the top bikes in off-road racing, these two new T-6 systems will have a mini-moto machine running and performing its best.
Completely TIG welded and built with a strong mounting bracket for increased strength and durability, the minimoto T-6 is an ideal exhaust for both general off-road riding and closed-course racing. The power delivery here is precisely what’s needed to get a new rider off on the right foot while upping the fun factor for the more experienced. ■

GAUGES & METERS
Gauged to Win
Tracking the Action in Motocross Athena USA’s Vibration-Sensitive Hour Meter is an accurate way to record total hours of operation.
The rpm Dash Launch Control System helps racers nail the optimum rpm rang for getting that holeshot off the gate. It can also help riders hit the right gear shifts while running a moto.
T
he starting gate of a moto with everyone jockeying into position for their best possible launch can be a nerve-racking place. Things don’t calm down after that, either. Out on the track it’s easy to end up in the wrong gear at the wrong time and lose valuable position as someone else rockets by. It isn’t any easier back in the pits for anyone charged with tuning that motocross bike. Keeping track of how long it’s been since the last overhaul, or how long the rider has been running a particular engine tune, is just as important for a win. It’s easy to get lost here, too. GET, the electronics division of Athena Group, has a couple of new instruments both riders and techs will want to know about. For the rider there’s the RPM Dash Launch Control System to assure leaving that starting gate at the optimum power point. For anyone responsible for the maintenance/setup of that bike there’s the VibrationSensitive Hour Meter to accurately record both partial count and total hours of operation. Quick and easy to install, the rpm Dash Launch Control System is fully adjustable and programmable right on the bike. For the best-possible launch the included handlebar

button can be set to the optimal rpm level desired for the start and LC Mode engaged. The LEDs will turn on oneby-one as the throttle is twisted up and once the optimal rpm range is reached, they’ll all light up together. That bike is ready to jump out of the gate. Out on the track rpm Dash Launch Control is just as useful. After the start it switches from LC Mode to rpm Dash Mode, the LEDs now letting your customers know exactly at what rpm level they’re riding at any moment during the race. With optimum shift points pre-set with the handlebar button, the LEDs will flash at the max-rpm levels set to assure the correct gear shifts at the right moment. Back in the pits the Vibration-Sensitive Hour Meter will earn its keep, too. Also easily mounted, by interpreting engine vibrations Hour Meter detects engine operation time versus just casual vibrations from any other source. With its twin meters, it’ll log partial time count with a resettable meter, perfect for tests and tuning, and also record total hours of operation with the other built-in meter. It’s waterproof and the integrated battery is guaranteed for six years. ■

Dual-Sport Brake Components
G
alfer USA is in the business of helping motorcycles stop, no matter what the surface is made of. There are a number of Galfer brake components that are popular with dual-sport riders for their stopping power, predictability and longevity in both on-road and off-road scenarios. When it comes to brake pads, many dual-sport riders prefer Galfer’s semi-metallic carbon or HH sintered compounds. The semi-metallic compound pads are an excellent replacement for the OEM pads because they provide great feel and modulation in both wet and dry conditions. The long-lasting compound is easy on the rotors, and it is extremely versatile, which is why it is such a popular choice for dual-sport applications. The HH sintered pads are a great selection for riders who want to get off-road with confidence. These very aggressive pads have a good initial bite coupled with consistent feel. The advanced ceramic compound of these pads is able to withstand higher temperatures than standard semi-metallic carbon brake pads.
Galfer USA’s HH sintered brake pads and floating Wave rotor are built to stand up to the harsh conditions Adventure and dual-sport riders experience out on the road and trail.
When it comes to Galfer rotors, KTM dual-sport riders particularly like the DF785CW (p/n 1710-3880) front and a DF786FLW (p/n 1710-3881) rear. The front rotor of choice for a lot of BMW dual-sport riders is the DF702W (p/n 1710-3131). All three of these standard floating Wave rotors ensure optimal pad-to-rotor contact. The laser-cut, high-carbon 420 stainless steel is precisely ground to ensure parallel flatness. These discs last longer than stock rotors, they are less likely to warp and they provide extremely predictable and consistent braking. ■

tools that are ideally suited to motorcycles is an ongoing collaboration between the company and the customer. Bikeservice actively seeks feedback from both mechanics and riders who work on their own bikes. By understanding the needs of the customer, Bikeservice is able to continue refining their tools to provide more accurate, efficient and useful solutions for the motorcycle industry. Motorcycle mechanics shouldn’t have to turn to automotive tools to get their work done. Through the feedback, the Bikeservice research and development team designs and creates new concept tools that have obtained patents in many countries.
The popular and patented Bikeservice universal front fork seal driver is ideal for forks that have a diameter of 30mm-50mm. The tool easily clamps around the fork to enable simple installation of both the oil and dust seals, saving both time and effort. Bikeservice designed a steering head bearing installer kit that pairs with a 21mm ratchet, allowing steering head bearings from 41-55mm to be installed correctly and without causing any damage. The tool is lightweight, and a patented Quick Clamp makes the process more efficient.
