Return To Normalcy by D on Em de

ts’ been so long since we could say life was normal, many of us might not recognize it when we get all the way back there again. Well, after reading this issue, you might be inspired to know that things are happening again, just like back in the good old days … like in 2019. Many of you were at Parts Unlimited’s “Red Rock 2” dealer ride in St. George, Utah in late October. If so, this issue is your photo album of that fun event. You earned your invitation and by all accounts, everyone had a great experience. If you weren’t on the ride, it’s time to talk to your Parts rep about qualifying for the 2022 event.
Check out the full report beginning on page 18. It’s hard to imagine a location that could accommodate a wider variety of riding activities. The massive 20,000-acre Sand Hollow State Park is amazing, with something for everyone in our off-road world, whether you ride motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides, or new this year, the INTENSE power-assisted electric mountain bikes. Then, practically right next door is the spectacular Zion National Park for the street riders with some additional twisty roads all around. Congratulations to this year’s Dealer of the Year award, Steve Patterson of Rosenau Powersports in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Another sign that things are getting back to normal is that the annual “NVP Product Expo” is back on, scheduled for January 29-30, 2022 in its previous location in Louisville, Kentucky. It’s been two years since the Parts Unlimited community has all been together, which makes this a real must-attend event. Plan now to come see all the latest products for the new year, catch up on all the programs and information you can grab. Check out the NVP Product Expo Preview story starting on page 34 and if you haven’t already, talk to you sales rep about details of the revival of this popular and important business event. Hope to see you there. And lastly, following up on previous reports about the success of Parts Unlimited’s sponsored riders in Supercross and motocross this year, in this issue we wrap up the 2021 racing season with a recap on the success of both THOR- and Moose-clad riders in other Off-Road championships around the country. Hats off to the champs! ■

NEWS EVENTS Laguna Beach School Gets Strider Bikes ALL KIDS BIKE LEARN-TO-RIDE KINDERGARTEN PE PROGRAM UPDATE
P
arts Magazine was invited in late October to witness a delivery presentation for the All Kids Bike Learn-to-Ride Kindergarten PE Program. The event, held at the Top of the World Elementary School in Laguna Beach, California, included All Kids Bike Founder Ryan McFarland and legendary World Champion Mountain Bike racer Brian Lopes. They were there to formally deliver the bicycles and related equipment to the school so it can begin operating one of the All Kids Bike Learn-to-Ride Kindergarten PE programs. Thanks to the generosity of Lopes, eleven elementary schools in Orange County, California will eventually benefit from his active fundraising drive to cover the cost of the program. He has currently raised $25,000 (five schools) and plans to achieve a total of $55,000. For more information about the All Kids Bike Learn-to-Ride Kindergarten PE Program, log onto: www.AllKidsBike.org. NEWS EVENTS Take a Bow! MOOSE RACING, THOR RIDERS CAP OFF DOMINANT SEASON
W
hat a season it’s been for THOR and Moose Racing racers! From flat out domination to dramatic winner-take-all last-round showdowns, Parts Unlimited-backed athletes emerged victorious and have claimed major national championships from coast to coast. The most intense championship battle had to be between Red Bull KTM teammates Dante Oliveira and Taylor Robert in the World Off Road Championship Series. The THOR-backed duo came into the WORCS final in Primm, Nevada in a deadlock tie for the title. They engaged in a battle royale for the two-hour race, and in the end it was Oliveira who was able to outrun his teammate, dethroning the reigning champion. It marked Oliveira’s second major U.S. off-road championship, having already clinched the National Grand Prix Championship (NGPC) Series crown at the penultimate round.
“I am so stoked to win my first WORCS Championship,” Oliveira said. “The race was awesome. I got a bad start and I just put my head down and stayed calm. There was a pileup on the k-rails off the start, so I made a couple moves there to get to fourth and Taylor and I immediately started battling. We went at it for the first hour and a half – it was sick! I can’t thank everyone enough for helping me get here.” Ever the seasoned professional, Robert took the defeat with a great deal of grace, saying, “I gave it everything I had and that’s all I could ask for. Dante was riding great. I left it all out there on the track and that’s all I can ever do. This is great for the team.” Another major showdown took place at the Grand National Cross Country finale at the Ironman GNCC in Crawfordsville, Indiana. A downpour threatened to spoil the fun for THOR-backed Ben Kelley and Moose Racing-backed Stew-

ard Baylor. The duo was locked in one of the closest championship battles in series history, only a handful of points separating them with one round remaining. Torrential rain turned the course into a quagmire, causing the Pro race to be postponed and shortened. When the racing did finally get underway, it was Kelley who was able to run the distance without drowning his bike. Amid the intense mud and a sea of mechanical failures, a ninth-place finish was all Kelley needed to seal the title while Baylor, who was so near pulling off one of the greatest comebacks in championship history, suffered a DNF. “It was stressful; just crazy,” said Kelley. “Honestly, I’ve never raced anything this crazy. We were all just swerving and weaving, and there was water everywhere. I wanted to win this last race just to put the nail in the coffin and come out on top. Honestly, I’m lucky to finish and happy to come away champion. It’s awesome.” As for Baylor, he didn’t leave the season emptyhanded. The AmPro Yamaha rider clinched an incredible fifth National Enduro Championship at the Gobbler Getter Enduro. Moose Racing rider Johnny Girroir of the Coastal Racing GASGAS team continued his utter domination of the GNCC XC2 250 Pro ranks, ending the season with nine out of 13 wins to his credit and the title. After having already taken the U.S. Sprint Enduro Pro2 Championship with his undefeated performance, giving GASGAS its first major off-road title in the U.S., Girroir gave the brand its second major chamGASGAS/Moose Racing rider Johnny Girroir gave the European OEM two major off-road titles in 2021, pionship in GNCC. “It’s such an unreal feeling to winning both the U.S. Sprint Enduro Pro2 Championship and the GNCC Championship. But just as the reigning AMA Extreme Champion showcased that he is a force to be reckoned with in EnduroCross, Hart suffered a hand injury at the following round and was unable to contest the rest of the series. We eagerly anticipate his return in the 2022 season as a top player in extreme enduro.
GNCC mud-fest.
Moose Racing-backed rider Morgan Tanke-Colon also closed out her season with a win, hers coming in the AMA National Hare & Hound Championship, giving her the opening- and closing-round wins of the desert series. Tanke-Colon also showed impressive consistency in the AMA EnduroCross Championship, the Beta USA rider making her way onto the podium at every round of the season, continuing to show her chops as an elite extreme enduro athlete. ■

NEWS EVENTS Performance Plus BEHIND THE SCENES AT TRINITY RACING
T
rinity Racing was founded in 1978 by racer and tuner Harry McDermott, who worked on building high-performance 2-stroke motors for Yamaha Banshees and other ATVs. Tolemar Manufacturing acquired the company in 2017, which is now primarily focused on the booming UTV segment. Parts Magazine had the opportunity to tour Tolemar’s Huntington Beach, California headquarters and visit with Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Dustin Boyko. We talked with Boyko about Tolemar’s product line, manufacturing abilities and commitment to UTV racing at all levels. (Edited for space and clarity) Parts Magazine: Give us a little background on Tolemar and Trinity Racing. Dustin Boyko: Tolemar is well known for our manufacturing capabilities, so acquiring Trinity made sense for us as a whole. Trinity has always had a fantastic name when it comes to 4-wheeled off-road vehicles and performance. Today we are a huge player in the UTV exhaust and accessory segment, and we continue to push forward expanding the breadth of our product line. Our product line ranges from exhaust systems and fuel management systems, clutch kits, drive belts, radius and tie rods, as well as safety harnesses.
How does Trinity Racing fit into the UTV aftermarket? We are always trying to be first to market with exhaust products for new vehicles. This is important for dealers because they know they can rely on Trinity Racing to have products when a new vehicle is released. We have the ability to manufacture most of our products in-house in beautiful Huntington Beach, California. We have a large facility here where we have everything from CNC machines and tube benders, to lasers cutting machines and packaging and shipping facilities. Some other parts such as belts are outsourced, but anything that can be CNC machined or made of bent and welded tubing is made right here! What is Trinity Racing’s involvement in UTV racing? We are heavily involved in UTV racing of all sorts. Some examples are – SCORE International, Best in the Desert, WORX, GNCC, Southern Bounty Series, and Southern Rock Racing Series. We sponsor well over 100 racers who all do a fantastic job representing our brand. Our racers are on the podium every weekend, winning races with smiles on their faces. What are some of Trinity’s best-selling products through Parts Unlimited? Our best-selling products through Parts Unlimited are our RZR and Can-Am slip-on and full exhaust systems, as well as our World’s Best Drive Belt. The exhausts not only sound and look amazing on the cars, but they greatly improve the performance. The Drive Belts are also 4 times stronger than the stock belt, and come with a 1-year warranty when paired with our clutch kit. Is there anything you’d like to add that we didn’t cover? We appreciate the ability to continue to work with LeMans. Parts Unlimited and Drag Specialties (which distributes products for sister company LA Choppers) are the best distributors in the business, and they have the best dealers in the business. We appreciate everyone who supports us, and hope to earn the business of those who currently don’t offer any Trinity Racing products. ■

Saldibar of MC Tire Works in North Hills, California, it was their first time attending a Parts ride and it didn’t disappoint. “I had a great time. I thought everything was well-organized and professional,” Mark said after the event. “Unfortunately, time went by too fast and before we knew it, it was time to go home. This was a great time to meet other people in the motorcycle industry, the people behind the products and the Parts crew. Good food, good fun and good people.” Melissa added that she was now looking forward to the next ride, saying that she was truly amazed at the stunning beauty of Sand Hollow’s dunes and sky-high bluffs. “We had a blast and loved the great service and attention to detail,” she said. “What a wonderful variety of activities to choose from!” In addition to that fun factor, there was also the chance to get face-to-face meetings with the people behind the brands Parts carries. The event kicked off with the popular Vendor Row, where dealers were able to pick up some free samples and swag, and talk with product specialists about new and exciting parts, accessories and apparel. A welcome reception and dinner capped off that first day, offering a chance to unwind and get ready for two days of riding.
A
fter a two year ‘Covid hiatus’, the annual Parts Unlimited Dealer Ride made its much-anticipated return, offering up a healthy dose of two-wheel and four-wheel fun for eager participants.
The 2021 event landed once again in St. George, Utah for two days of multi-segment recreation. There was UTV and dirtbike riding in Sand Hollow State Park, streetbike riding in nearby Zion National Park and, new for this year, E-bike mountain bike riding along the famed trails in Hurricane, Utah thanks to INTENSE Cycles. No matter what activity they chose, the assembled group of Parts Unlimited dealers, vendors, sales reps and assorted personnel all celebrated the event as a chance to reconnect with longtime friends, learn about Parts’ always growing lineup of products and, of course, have fun. For Mark and Melissa
Over the following two days, some participants chose to mix things up, taking a street ride through Southern Utah’s beautiful terrain one day, and hitting the dunes and trails the next. Others kept things strictly dirty – helped on day two by an overnight rain storm – while the rest simply piled up the asphalt miles. After two days of riding and enjoying the very reason why most everyone in the Powersports business actually got into the business – getting out and riding! – the group gathered for the last night for a farewell banquet, a final chance to break bread and swap stories. The night was hosted by emcee Rob Buydos and included the annual award presentations, which included the coveted Parts Ride Dealer of the Year award. Although the location of the 2022 Parts Unlimited Dealer Ride has yet to be announced, now’s the time to start talking with your dealer about how to qualify to attend. You won’t want to miss it.

When it’s time for your customers to exit the work week and enter the weekend with a riding trip, THOR’s Transit Wheelie bag is the one-size-fits-all solution for riding gear and equipment. Clocking in at more than 3 feet long, the Transit has the space for riders to conveniently transport everything they need, yet remains easy to handle by design. On the outside of the bag, a durable, molded base, polyester shell, oversized wheels, retractable pullhandle and reinforced grab handles all come together for smooth and easy movement with durable protection withstanding toss after toss into the back of the truck or moto van. Opening up the Transit bag, your customers will find a roll-out changing mat, reinforced boot compartment, micro-fleece lined helmet and goggle pockets, and a large main compartment ready for several sets of gear. The purpose-designed

Despite the long list of features on the Transit, THOR knows the biggest, most fully featured bag isn’t for everyone. For those looking for a more budget friendly option, but still want to be able to carry all their gear essentials, the Circuit bag delivers on every level. Much like the Transit, the Circuit is equipped with designated boot, helmet and goggle compartments, plus a large main compartment and ventilation throughout. Assisting in easy handling of its wheelless design is a padded shoulder strap and reinforced grab handles. The Circuit bag also features the same roll-out changing mat, a feature riders won’t realize they were missing out on until they try it. Rounding out the 2022 THOR bag collection is a pair of specialty units – a goggle bag and a helmet bag. Helmets can be one of the priciest items in the riding gear category, and rightfully so. When helmets aren’t serving their duty on riders’ heads, THOR’s dedicated helmet bag can keep them protected during storing and transportation. The inside is lined with micro-fleece to prevent scratching, and the exterior shell utilizes the same ballistic polyester material as the rest of the THOR bag lineup. Goggles for riders are like shoes for fashion fanatics, one can never have too many pairs. THOR’s newly designed goggle bag easily stores four goggles between adjustable, foam-padded inserts. Additional pockets are also equipped to hold accessories like lenses and tear-offs, and durable construction keeps the vision equipment inside safe and secure. THOR’s 2022 bag collection sports a black and heather gray colorway with subtle mint accents for a modern yet timeless look. ■

Taking value another step, the Combat Racer line of goggles from THOR deliver the protection and fit needed for consistent, clear vision without any of the additional frills, achieving a solid goggle choice at a price riders’ wallets will love.

Qualifying Style Gearing Up, Affordably
Moose Racing’s Qualifier jacket and over-the-boot pants are wind resistant, water resistant and durable, all without being bulky.
F
rom year to year, Moose Racing customers know that Qualifier gear is going to be part of the apparel lineup. There’s a good reason the line is so popular and keeps coming back each season. As Moose Racing’s entry-level option, Qualifier gear is affordable while still giving riders style and durability. To sweeten the deal even more, the gear is available in a wide range of sizes. Qualifier gear used to simply be pants and jerseys. A couple of years ago, though, Moose Racing added outerwear to the line, including the Qualifier jacket and over-the-boot pants. Now, the 2022 Qualifier line is ready to take on everything from racing to a fun day of trail riding. Sizing options have grown for the Qualifier racewear and outerwear. The jersey and jacket are both available from small all the way up to 5X, and both styles of pants come in sizes from 28 to 54. When it comes to Qualifier racewear, the 2022 line is available in six colorways in both the jersey and pants, and the graphics feature a modern design aesthetic. Those graphics are sublimated to ensure colorfastness, even after lots of washing.

The Qualifier jersey is made from a durable polyester fabric, which is cut in a relaxed fit to make sure a rider can easily move around on the bike. The performance-fit cuffs keep the sleeves in place without binding. The Qualifier pants combine high-denier, abrasionresistant polyester with stretch panels. The result is an athletic fit that moves easily along with the rider. The legs are pre-curved, too, for an even more comfortable stance on the bike. The waist has a three-point adjustment system to ensure just the right fit. Like all Moose Racing racewear, the Qualifier line is tested by pro riders, who not only put gear through the rigors of racing, but also give feedback that is used by the team at Moose Racing to constantly make improvements. With a longtime line like the Qualifier, the result is gear that has the fit and finish riders want along with thoughtful touches that elevate the line above what one might normally associate with the “entry-level” title. In the outerwear division, the Qualifier jacket and pants share a lot of family traits with the Qualifer racewear. Both are considered entry-level gear, but the design, construction and materials are anything but.

The Qualifier jacket and over-the-boot pants are made from a high-denier polyester fabric that is wind resistant, water resistant and durable, all without being bulky. The jacket is a versatile two-in-one design, with sleeves that zip off completely to create a vest for those days when the weather is cool but not too cold. A large, zippered back pocket provides the perfect spot for stowing the sleeves when they aren’t in use. Two zippered hand pockets add more options for storing odds and ends. A wind-resistant shell runs the risk of making things hot and steamy inside, so Moose Racing incorporated two front and rear vents as well as two zippered pit vents so that riders can choose the right amount of airflow to keep the jacket’s internal temperature just right. When those vents are closed, the Qualifier jacket is designed to keep any cold air from sneaking in. The double front zipper flap and adjustable cuffs provide solid barriers in areas where wind might like to look for entry, and the micro-fiber lined collar provides an insulated barrier up top. Double-stitched seams add durability while the

pre-bent ergonomic sleeves add comfort. Retro-reflective graphic logos top everything off to give the jacket a pop of visibility. The zippered leg openings on the Qualifier over-theboot pants make them easy to slide on over regular pants as well as boots. In addition to providing a guard against the elements, the pants also put a big focus on comfort. The pre-bent legs have spandex stretch panels in key areas to provide increased mobility, and the oversized knee area keeps the pants from being too binding. The three-point waist adjustment system makes sure that the pants fit just right. The Qualifier over-the-boot pants have ventilation, too, which has been carefully designed to ensure the most efficient airflow. Two hand pockets add to the features, and high-denier nylon inner panels add a layer of fortification inside the knees. ■

TIRES
Rock, Sand, Mud or Snow Tires for Every Season
Even with such an aggressive tread design, the Swamp Fox still rolls smoothly on hard-packed surfaces thanks to overlapping center lugs. Customers love the Swamp Fox for its versatility, durability and value, plus it’s offered in a wide range of sizes to fit nearly any vehicle that rolls into your shop.
The Swamp Fox features a tread design that offers excellent performance in tough terrain such as mud and snow, but still rolls smoothly on hardpacked surfaces.
Another already famous and excellent tire from AMS is the M1 Evil. ATV riders love the M1 Evil’s unidirectional truck-like tread pattern and even land/sea ratio that offers excellent handling on a variety of terrain. They also love its rugged and durable radial design, its smooth ride on hardpack surfaces, and the fact that it meets DOT standards for limited on-road use. In a sense, the M1 is an ultimate do-it-all tire, and that versatility has made it a top seller. Building on the legend that is the M1 Evil, the M2 Evil is a follow-up model that retains all the great features of the original while decreasing the tire’s weight and price. With the same unidirectional tread design and radial carcass construction, the M2 Evil is 10 percent lighter thanks to a new rubber compound and a tweak to the tread depth. Reducing rotating weight improves all aspects of a vehicle’s performance. From acceleration and braking to suspension compliance, less mass at the ends of the axles makes for a more nimble machine. The fact that the M2 Evil is also more affordable is just the cherry on top.
AMS’s Radial Pro was specifically designed for modern highperformance ATVs and is a multi-surface, smooth-rolling, long-wearing tire that’s a terrific choice for any condition.
N
o matter the ATV make or model, its intended use, or the season, AMS has tires to fit your customers’ vehicles. From mud bogs to sand dunes and everything in between, you can rely on AMS to have rubber suitable for the application. Odds are your customers already know about the Swamp Fox, which is one of AMS’ best-selling models. Its tread design is legendary, due to its striking appearance and its excellent performance in tough terrain. Developed with the help of computer analysis, the Swamp Fox’s deep, V-shaped lugs are designed to lock into soft surfaces such as mud and snow. Dimpled treads provide more biting edges, while burly shoulder knobs offer additional traction while also shielding the rim from damage.

Retro Cues Go Modern
Better Tech for a Reimagined Boot ICON’s Elsinore 2 boot is a re-designed version of the company’s modernretro footwear, which now provides a more comfortable fit and plenty of protection.
The Elsinore 2 boot is available in brown or black leather and features non-slip soles and D3O armor ankle inserts.
There was only one problem – the Elsinore boot looked great, but it was pretty stiff and bulky. When the Elsinore HP debuted in 2018, the boot was still stiff and bulky, but now it had a shiny metal shin plate added to the mix.
T
he past couple of decades have been a really good time for motorcycle apparel. It might be tough to remember now, but not that long ago, many riders were all swathed in thick layers of leather and clunky boots that made them walk like a saddle-sore star in a cowboy movie.
50
It was obvious to the team at ICON that the Elsinore concept still had a lot of life in it and a lot of riders eager to wear that style. What it needed was an overhaul in materials and fit. The result is the new Elsinore 2 boot, featuring the same great style but in a much more comfortable fit. The boots even come out of the box ready to ride, no break-in required. The five straps atop the premium leather uppers aren’t just there to evoke 1970s motocross glory. Once they are adjusted for a perfect fit, they can stay in place since a side zipper allows easy on and off. Inside, a reinforced shin plate adds durability and an EVA foam insole adds comfort.
Materials have come a long way in recent years, allowing motorcycle apparel to be less bulky, more effective and a whole lot more fashionable. ICON has always been on the cutting edge of motorcycle apparel style, and the latest developments in materials and technology have allowed the company to redesign some of their most iconic styles with a better fit and improved durability.
One new bit of technology that has made a huge difference in motorcycle gear is D3O armor. Lighter, thinner and better able to absorb impact forces than its predecessors, the D3O ankle insert is one aspect that allows the Elsinore 2 boot to be less bulky while still amping up the barrier between rider and road.
One of those classic styles is the Elsinore boot. First introduced in 2012, the Elsinore boot looked like an apocalyptic street boot with a motocross heritage. In other words, it fit right in with ICON’s retro cues, future tech mindset.

Adapting LED Headlights to Even More Models Thanks to J.W. Speaker’s Headlight Adapter Kits, the company’s high-tech Adaptive 2 series LED headlights are an option for a wide range of bikes without direct fitments.

t’s a bit disheartening for some riders when winter rolls in and it’s time to park the bike for another cold few months. Even though seat time may be at a minimum, this presents the opportunity for wintertime maintenance and upgrades, whether it’s in customers’ garages or the service department at the shop. Any street rider who’s made the switch from standard, halogen-style headlights to LED-powered headlights will tell you it’s a night and day difference, quite literally. While LED lighting isn’t a brand-new technology itself, its adaptation from OEMs to make them standard equipment is still limited. J.W. Speaker, however, is a veteran in cutting-edge, LED vehicle lighting technology across the board and has been among those leading the charge in LED lighting solutions for powersports applications. The company’s lineup of complete, LED-powered light assemblies for motorcycles is impressive, ranging from high-output, reflector style lights to their Adaptive 2 series – headlights that sense riders’ actions when cornering and automatically provide a punch of light where it’s needed most. While light offerings from J.W. Speaker cover many motorcycle applications with plug-and-play functionality, they recognize there are still many models

Thankfully, J.W. Speaker’s Headlight Adapter Kits provide a solution even for your customers riding less-mainstream models, such as some from BMW or Triumph, for example. These adapter kits are designed to work with existing headlight mounts, providing a mounting ring, compression springs and fastening hardware needed to allow for easier installation of any J.W. Speaker 7-inch round LED motorcycle headlight. Plus, they’re available in black and chrome finishes depending on the application, giving your customers the option to keep to the look of their machine. Some models are quite close to accepting new headlights and just need minor adaptation for a clean fit, such as Kawasaki and Yamaha street models from the early 2000s through 2018. Adaptive 2 Fitment Kits from J.W. Speaker include a model-specific bracket and rubber fitment ring plus hardware needed to mount-up either the 7-inch or 5.75-inch Adaptive 2 series headlight, depending on the model. Of course, there is still a long list of motorcycles from vintage to modern and production to custom that don’t quite fall into application-specific fitment. Regardless, J.W. Speaker has every rider in mind, offering the Adaptive 2 series headlight in both a 7-inch and 5.75-inch pedestal mount configuration. These LED headlight assemblies deliver the same angle-sensing, smart technology and vision enhancing light output as their model-specific counterparts, but utilize a pedestal mount-style housing that accepts most ¾-inch headlight mounting blocks. This opens the door for you to offer customers a modern lighting solution for even some of the most one-off requests. ■

hen it comes to chain maintenance or installation, RK’s Chain Tool is an essential all-in-one kit that would be at home in every toolbox and service department.
The UCT2100(50) tool from RK quickly and easily breaks 40 and 50 series chains, and can press-fit tight tolerance 50 sealed chain sideplates to the correct depth for clip or rivet installation. (Note: RK says that 40 series chains will require the use of tool pieces FP428JP and PH428 to press-fit and rivet. Both pieces are sold separately.) One of the newest improvements for the UCT2100(50) chain tool is the redesigned Flare Pin FP500JP. The new flare pin features grooves that prevent the user from over-flaring the rivet pins. The new sealed posts allow the components to lock into the tool body and larger pressure bolt for easier use without dropped components. However, just in case mechanics do lose a tool piece into the endless void under a toolbox, replacement components are readily available. The redesigned plate holder PH500JP for 50 series chains features a reversible post that allows the user to switch between the clip type or rivet type plate holder. The UCT2100(50) chain tool comes in a molded plastic storage case and makes a great gift for any motorcyclist, and is an invaluable addition for a dealership service department. Visit the RK Chain website or scan the QR code to review the minimum and maximum rivet diameter dimensions for each RK Chain model. After riveting, mechanics should measure the rivet flare to ensure the proper flare dimension has been achieved.

CLUTCHES
Digging Through the Dirt
More Bite for Some Familiar KTM Clutches
For customers with certain 2012 to 2022 KTM 450 and 500 models, Barnett has equipped its popular Dirt Digger clutch kits with a heavy-duty clutch spring that is 15 percent stiffer than stock.
B
arnett’s Dirt Digger clutch kits are a popular off-road pick. Easily installed, they serve up the kind of upgrade performance riders will feel immediately and can put right to work.
Packed with Barnett’s exclusive carbon fiber or Kevlar friction materials and tempered steel drive plates, Dirt Diggers deliver the strong, positive, easily controlled and long-lasting clutch engagement that off-road riders need whether for motorcycles, ATVs or UTVs. They’re especially effective for the bigger, faster, and heavier newer machines. As icing on the cake, they’re all a direct no-hassle replacement for OEM. For riders on select 2012 to 2022 KTM 450 and 500 models, that clutch-boost just got better. A new heavy-duty Belleville-type clutch spring that is 15 percent stiffer than stock is now available. Made of tough high-carbon spring steel, it’s heat-treated and, coupled with that Dirt Digger plate kit, will give those KTMs the strong-performing, trouble-free, long-lasting performance riders want. A Dirt Digger upgrade isn’t limited to just KTMs, of course. There are full kits available for all popular off-road machines, on two wheels and four. Performance-wise, they’re all a big step up from OEM. Besides providing that stronger, more positive engagement those carbon fiber or Kevlar friction discs feature a segmented design that promotes increased oil flow throughout the clutch. The payoff here is smooth, consistent performance overall, and a noticeably increased clutch life. Matched with the kit’s tempered steel drive plates and a complete set of heavy-duty springs, a Dirt Digger setup gives riders a stronger gripping, cooler running, longer lasting clutch.

Barnett’s upgrades don’t stop there. Performance clutch baskets and pressure plates are available across-theboard, as well. Both machined from billet aluminum, the baskets feature replaceable stainless-steel inserts for extra-smooth clutch operation. Strategically placed, custom-machined oil-passage windows enhance the flow through those segmented Dirt Digger friction plates. This helps further drops clutch operating temperatures to really extend the service life. ■

Electrical Components for Old and New Models
P
owersports vehicles are having a bit of a renaissance right now. In addition to new vehicle sales, plenty of enthusiasts are dusting off older vehicles that have been sitting around for a while and giving them a little TLC to get them back on the road. Snowmobiles haven’t been left out of this resurgence. That’s the good news. The bad news is that many dealers are having a hard time getting new snowmobile units due to the global supply chain delays. Not to worry, though, because there’s more good news; snowmobile riders are turning to older sleds to make sure they can hit the trails this winter. Whether riders are buying a used unit or digging an old one out of the garage, keeping them running – or getting them up and running again after sitting idle for a long time – is easy with Rick’s Motorsport Electrics. The company has a full line of electrical components for snowmobiles. Rick’s Motorsport Electrics got its start as a motorcycle salvage business in the late 1970s, but sleds are near and dear to the company’s heart. Based in New Hampshire, Rick’s is squarely in the snow belt. Not only are there plenty of snowmobile enthusiasts at the company, but Rick’s also knows how to keep the machines running beautifully.
ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS
Keeping Sleds on the Trail
Rick’s offers stators, starter motors and voltage regulators for a wide range of models and years. Do you have a customer with a 20-year-old Ski Doo that won’t start? Not a problem. In addition, Rick’s includes a one-year replacement warranty with all of their parts, giving dealers and customers alike peace of mind. The team at Rick’s says that Arctic Cat stators are among their top snow products, though there are many stators designed for models going all the way back to the 1980s. Since most Arctic Cat models that Rick’s makes stators for are run off AC systems and don’t have batteries, the electrical power for the vehicle is derived directly from the stator. Rick’s Arctic Cat stators are built to OEM specs with upgrades for increased performance and durability, but they are significantly less costly. The stators are divided into separate circuits, with each one responsible for a certain area of the snowmobile’s operation. When it comes to starters, it’s easy to find a replacement from Rick’s Motorsport Electrics. These starters are quality, affordable alternatives to an expensive OEM starter, and like most snowmobile products from Rick’s, there is a wide range of applications. Rick’s snowmobile regulators are designed to be an easy swap from the OEM unit, arriving with the factory plug-ins. Built to OEM specs, these regulators give customers both high-quality and cost effectiveness. ■

Customers can expect Sena’s communications-equipped helmets to come with both the brand’s Mesh Intercom technology as well as the latest Bluetooth Intercom technology. The Multi-Channel Mesh Intercom is an innovative way to connect a lot of riders over a wide distance. With two riders, Mesh Intercom can provide communication when they are as much as 1.2 miles apart. With at least six riders connected, that range extends up to five miles. To make it even better, the technology is designed so that a virtually limitless number of riders can be connected at once.
Sena’s new Impulse modular smart helmet features premium sound and communications technology plus a taillight built right into the rear of the helmet.
Another benefit of Mesh Intercom is that the web style of connectivity makes the technology more agile. Riding near large buildings or in road congestion can sometimes make it tough for traditional devices to connect one rider to another, but the Mesh Intercom is able to adapt to changes of scene and environment. Of course, Bluetooth is still an integral part of a helmet communications system, and with the Impulse, four riders can connect via Bluetooth Intercom across a 1.2mile range. Meanwhile, Bluetooth connectivity to a rider’s smartphone allows them to give voice commands or use digital assistants like Google and Siri. Getting directions to the nearest gas station is easy and hands-free. The voice commands work in eight different languages for even more versatility. The Sena Impulse provides riders with as much as 18 hours of talk time. When it needs to recharge, the helmet simply connects to a magnetic charging port. In addition to a premium level of communication, the Sena Impulse helmet also offers an enhanced level of visibility thanks to the rear-facing taillight. Better than mere reflective material, the light shines a beacon that can’t be missed by following traffic.

Suspension Upgrades for Groms and Monkeys
Progressive Suspension has developed the MiniMoto Series fork kit for Honda’s Grom and Monkey models, an upgrade that provides less brake dive and improved ride quality.
P
eople are having big fun on small bikes, and Honda’s edgy Grom and the retro-styled Monkey are leading the charge. To help your customers enjoy their minimotos even more, Progressive Suspension has launched the Minimoto Series fork kit that’s specifically designed for both the Grom and the Monkey, plus a shock that fits the Grom. Both offer an upgrade in ride quality and handling. As approachable and exciting as the Grom and Monkey are, their size and price point mean the bikes’ suspension is inadequate, especially if the rider is a full-size adult. To rectify the Grom and Monkey’s squishy rides, Progressive Suspension has developed the MiniMoto Series fork kit and shock. The fork kit is designed for the 2017 to 2022 Grom, and 2019 to 2021 Monkeys, and replaces the flimsy stock springs and damper rods with more refined components. For better support, the kit comes with stiffer progressively wound springs that feel plush at the top of the stroke, but firmer deeper in the stroke so they can still soak up big bumps. With more appropriate springs in their forks, your customers will experience less brake dive, better steering response and improved ride quality. Complementing the springs, the fork kit has upgraded damper-rod assemblies with high-performance pistons

with deflective-disc valving for increased compression and rebound damping. That means better, more consistent control throughout the suspension stroke. For increased durability and service life, the damper rods are zinc plated. Progressive’s MiniMoto Series fork kit is available in standard ride height as well as a 2-inch lowered version for those customers who want to lower their bikes as part of a custom build. The kit comes complete with the necessary spacers, making it a plug-and-play installation. Progressive’s MiniMoto Series shock is a perfect match for the fork kit. This shock utilizes a gas-charged twin-tube damper with deflective disc technology for dependable damping throughout the suspension stroke. To aid in chassis tuning, the shock body has a threaded collar for easy preload adjustments (using the supplied spanner), plus an adjustable eyelet that offers up to a ½ inch of additional ride height. It’s also offered in two versions – the Standard spring rate is suitable for riders up to 180 pounds, while the Heavy Duty spring option is optimal for anyone weighing more than 180 pounds. ■

A low-quality clutch puller can bend or even break off in a clutch, creating even more time, labor and cost removing the faulty tool or possibly replacing the entire clutch assembly. EPI clutch pullers feature a one-piece design manufactured from high-quality tool steel with precision, CNC-machined features and heat-treating and plating processes for improved strength and longer service over some standard tool materials. EPI has a wide range of your customers covered, offering clutch pullers for many applications across UTV, ATV and snowmobile segments. Clutch pullers are not the only tool important to clutch maintenance. When disassembling clutch systems for cleaning, servicing, or even installing an EPI clutch kit, a clutch compression tool plays an important role. Applicable for use with almost any brand snowmobile, ATV or UTV equipped with a CVT clutch system, EPI clutch compression tools are stout enough to get the job done reliably time after time, yet feature a compact design so they can conveniently be stored in a toolbox or hung on the wall when not in use. While clutch systems remain one of the company’s core specialties, EPI is dedicated to helping you and your customers remain properly armed for many preventative maintenance tasks. The EZ Greaser tool line is EPI’s solution for extending bearing life and improving bearing performance. EZ Greasers are small but mighty, offering a single solution for many jobs. For example, with many Polaris models utilizing the same bearings, one EPI EZ Greaser could serve hundreds of service jobs. EZ Greasers allow for bearing servicing without requiring complete removal of the bearing from the hub. These tools not only help breathe more life into used bearings, but also prepare new bearings for longer service from the beginning. In fact, EZ Greasers are aiding dealers with the opportunity to offer a service upgrade with the sale of new bearings, considering many bearings from the factory leave room for improvement in quantity and quality of grease. ■

That means the chains have to be tough, too, which is why Regina Chain has three quality options for these bikes. For riders who stick to the asphalt, the Regina ZRT Touring/Street chains ensure high mileage and high quality. arts UnlimitedThis USA 2021 Half Page Template Dowel Pin Puller Set exemplifies Motion Pro’s special-
eed: 8.625 x 5.5˝ tool mastery. There really is no better way to remove dowels rim: 8.375 x 5.25˝ afety: 7.875 x 4.75˝
For truly stuck dowels, there’s a slide-hammer attachment. Thread the rod and weight into the back of the collet and give it a whack. The momentum, applied directly in line with the dowel, never fails to remove the part, often without the need for penetrating oil or heat. Better still, the Dowel Pin Puller doesn’t damage the pin, so it can be reused. Once you, your techs, and your customers use the Dowel Pin Puller Set, there will be no going back to cruder techniques. ■

“

in on Sunday. Sell on Monday.” Ever wonder where that saying came from? A motorsport axiom, it’s widely credited to Bob Tasca Sr., first coined after his dealership-sponsored A/ FX Mustang won the 1965 NHRA Winternationals. And, it’s as true today as it was then. Enthusiasts take notice of what race winners use. When those racers are on motorcycles, ATVs or UTVs and enthusiasts are interested in the brake pads they’re using, a name front-and-center is DP Brakes. Supporting the sport for decades, that DP logo is prominent at race venues and on race machines everywhere. DP is a champion’s choice. Road racers, motocross and Arenacross stars, scores of winning ATV and UTV competitors, they all look to DP for their brake pads. None of that goes unnoticed in the stands. Here’s the good news. Those same brake pads, pads with the same friction materials, compounds and ceramic heat shielding the pros use are available to everyone. Parts Unlimited has all of that strong stopping, long lasting, fade free, nonsquealing, dust free – race winning – performance in stock.
Road racers, motocross and Arenacross stars, and scores of winning ATV and UTV competitors look to DP for the company’s brake pads.
For the sportbike and superstreet riders it’s the SDP SPORT HH+ pads or the RDP X-Race Titaniums. For off-roaders on two wheels or four it’s the DP Standards and the SDP Pro-MX pads, all developed to exceed the demands of top-level racers worldwide. ■

Performance Audio System for Polaris RZRs
MB Quart offers a Stage 5 Polaris RZR-tuned audio package, a fivespeaker system pushing 800 watts of power.
B
y now, it’s evident that the world of UTVs is not only here to stay, but it’s added an entirely new – and incredibly fun – layer to the powersports market. This layer is diverse and has opened doors for many great players to expand and emerge on the UTV modification and customization scene. MB Quart is among the early adopters, carrying the company’s veteran knowledge of high-quality audio and adapting it to plug-and-play audio systems delivering
custom-level sound to the latest and greatest UTV rides. Among those systems is the Stage 5 Polaris RZR-tuned audio package, a five-speaker system pushing 800-watts of power. An LED source unit offers modern connection capabilities to play tunes through 400-watt amp-driven compression horn speakers mounted in model-specific enclosures. This equates to big sound with a factory fit and look. However, what will really turn heads and shake mirrors is the included, 10-inch subwoofer mounted in a specially designed, ported enclosure. MB Quart engineers designed this subwoofer to replace the factory glovebox and tuck away cleanly in a range of model and year Polaris RZRs. Backed by another 400-watt amp, this subwoofer delivers clean and powerful bass. Each of MB Quart’s UTV systems are tested and tuned by in-house sound engineers to ensure customers are receiving optimal sound experience out on the trail. ■

ponsoring race teams is about more than just getting a brand name out there. For Braking, it’s the perfect way to test products in the most challenging environments. Braking is sponsoring more than 25 teams in a variety of racing disciplines, letting racers all over the world show off the Italian-made EPTA rotors. Thanks to Jack Gagne and his 2021 Moto America SBK Championship, Braking has increased its number of titles to 132.

ust because an ATV or UTV part is capable of doing hard work, that doesn’t mean it needs to look like it’s built for hard work. It’s possible to be both tough and good-looking. Upgrading from stock to aftermarket wheels can really make a big difference when it comes to both form and function. Carrying heavy loads, tackling various riding environments and, of course, looking good are all factors that get considered when it comes to wheel design. With the wheel designs available from Moose Racing and Moose Utility Division, it’s a lot easier for utility vehicles to get the sporty treatment, blurring the lines between work and play. The new Moose Racing 416X wheel balances those two sides perfectly, featuring a lot of style as well as a lot of strength. From a sport perspective, the 416X wheel can take on a variety of tough terrain, from the woods to deep mud or even sand. From the workhorse side of things, the 416X is prepared to haul cargo with ease. Even the smallest of the four wheel sizes available, a 12x7, can handle a load of up to 675 pounds. At the top of the size range, the 14x8 wheel can handle as much as 1300 pounds without breaking a sweat. This versatility makes the 416X a great choice for any ATV or UTV model. It is topped with a sleek black anodized finish, and center caps are included. When it comes to getting through more difficult terrain, it’s hard to beat a beadlock wheel. The Moose Racing 544X Beadlock wheel comes in a 14x7 size with a 5+2

Like all Moose Racing wheels, both the 416X and 544X Beadlock designs are X-rayed on the production line. The company doesn’t simply pull a few wheels out of every batch for testing; every single wheel is thoroughly checked. Not only does this ensure quality and reliability, but it also instills confidence in customers that they can take these wheels off-road and subject them to harsh conditions without worrying about hidden weaknesses. ■
