Parts Unlimited would like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to Parts Magazine Publisher, Don Emde on receiving the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum Hall of Fame.
Don’s contributions to our industry span decades. Starting with amazing racing success, transitioning to several forms of media publishing, preserving history through his books, being on the AMA Board of Directors and currently, President of the Trailblazers. In addition to all of that, he’s the nicest guy in the business. We consider our longstanding relationship with Don as one of our greatest achievements and are proud to call him a friend.
With much respect and admiration, Your Parts Unlimited Family
Thank You!
by Don EmdeIf you’ll indulge me for a moment, I wanted to take time to express my personal gratitude to everyone who made it possible for me to receive the 2022 Arlen Ness Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Sturgis Rally.
To the Directors and staff at the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame, I was very honored to receive this special award at your annual breakfast on August 10th at the Deadwood Lodge. My mom and dad were at the Rally in 1947, and now 75 years later comes this amazing sculpture by Jeff Decker with the Emde name on it. I know my folks would be proud about that.
It was great to have some of my family members there with me to share in the experience. We are a family-owned and operated business and without the tireless work and sup port through the years by my wife Tracy and daughter Jen, I know this award would not have been possible. To them, and my great team working back home, thanks for all you do!
There were also two special guests in attendance that I am very thankful for: LeMans Corporation Chairman/CEO Paul Langley, and President Mike Collins. Not only have they both been personal friends for many years, but they are currently the two leaders at LeMans, the parent company of Parts Unlimited. Thank you for taking the time to be there, and for being the best customer a company could ever wish for.
Another long-time friend, Fred Fox, is always on my mind. Fred retired recently and couldn’t attend the Sturgis Rally, but there’s so much on my list of lifetime achievements I have him to thank for. After all, it was Fred who gave me the green light way back in 1993 to begin publishing the official dealer magazines for LeMans Corporation. I can’t even imagine how different my business would be today if it were not for his support all these years?
It was great to see a number of our current or past magazine advertisers, dealers, sales reps, writers, photographers and other contributors in the audience on August 10th. To everyone who has been a customer or otherwise helped us publish our magazines these past 29 years, thank you so much. I invite you to join us in 2023 in celebrating our 30th anniversary year of publishing for LeMans Corporation.
In This Issue
Upon my return home from Sturgis, I immediately needed to start packing for the 2022 North American NVP Product Expo in Madison, Wisconsin. Due to the whole Covid pandemic, it had been three years since LeMans Corporation had last gathered its management, sales reps, vendor and dealers at the Monona Terrace convention center. The time had finally come to resume the successful and long-running bi-annual event. It could not have turned out better. Be sure to check out our extensive report of this year’s event starting on page 44. ■

Publisher / Editor-in-ChiefNEWS EVENTSAND Buyck, Jones Crowned in Royal Enfield Build. Train. Race.
Royal Enfield’s groundbreaking Build. Train. Race. (BTR) programs, supported by Parts Unlimited, are quickly drawing to a close for the 2022 season. BTR, which welcomes women to build out and race a Royal Enfield 650 motorcycle, saw its biggest year yet with a full grid of 15 women in both the Road Racing and Flat Track programs.
On the Road Race side, the season concluded at the Barber MotoAmerica round at the end of September, and it was standout star Kayleigh Buyck taking the crown. In the Flat Track discipline, Jaycee Jones succeeded in decimating the field, her five wins from five races clinching the champion ship at the penultimate round, the Cedar Lake Short Track.
For its second year in a row, Royal Enfield’s BTR program highlighted the MotoAmerica road race pits, the women taking part in six rounds throughout the 2022 calendar. It was an up-and-down season as tricky weather conditions, red flags and crashes complicated the racing action. But through it all, the competitive BTR grid showed an overall quickening pace, one where Crystal Martinez was ultimately able to score a win at the New Jersey round on September 9, which tightened up the points chase.
Coming into the final round, all Buyck needed was a podium to secure the championship, but it didn’t stop her from
battling tooth and nail with Chloe Peterson in one of the finest fights of the season. The duo challenged each other all the way to the line at Barber Motorsports Park, with Buyck edging out Peterson for the win, putting a definitive stamp on her championship.
“I just put my head down and came into this weekend wanting to have fun,” said Buyck. “Locking in the champi onship by winning the last race is definitely the way to end the perfect season.”
In BTR Flat Track, Jaycee Jones made it her year. A return rider to the series, Jones spent much of the 2021 season battling with Jillian Deschenes, who ultimately edged Jones out for the title last year. This season, however, Jones has managed to capture every win (aside from the preseason “BTR Select” exhibition at Volusia 1, which went to Deschenes). At the Ce dar Lake Short Track, Jones checked out, leaving Deschenes to wrestle with rookie sensation Zaria Martens.
The battle to watch on the BTR Flat Track side is between vet eran Deschenes and 18-year-old Martens, the duo repeatedly battling for second behind Jones. While the BTR Flat Track title might be spoken for, at press time, the number two plate is still up for grabs, and Deschenes and Martens are both still hungry for a win. The Volusia 2 Half Mile is their last chance at it, coming October 15 in Barberville, Florida. ■

REPORT: 96TH INTERNATIONAL SIX DAYS ENDURO
RIGHT: After being a part of the victorious Men’s World Trophy team in 2016 and 2019, Kailub Russell had a rough time this year. He was suffering from a knee injury that needed to be drained a few times during the week in order for him to be able to ride.
Since 1913, one of the world’s most challenging motorcycle competitions has been the International Six Days Enduro (known until 1980 as the International Six Days Trial). Best known simply as the “Six Days,” the ISDE is the ultimate test of rider and machine to stay on a prescribed time schedule in rough terrain and special track tests for six straight days. It is held in a different country every year, so the courses, types of terrain, even the weather conditions are totally different.
Only those who can maintain perfect scores for all six days are awarded an ISDE Gold medal. Through the years, many
American riders have won Gold medals, including Moose Rac ing’s original product designer, Dick Burleson, who won eight.
The Six Days is an Olympics style event with riders vying not only for individual medals, but also “Trophy Team” scores for each country are kept in hopes of winning the top prize, the FIM World Trophy. In recent years, a separate men’s and women’s World Trophy has been awarded.
There is much history and lore connected with Americans competing in the Six Days. America’s first-ever Trophy Team attempt came in 1964 with actor Steve McQueen, Bud Ekins, Dave Ekins (Bud’s brother), and Cliff Coleman riding 650cc Triumphs. Bud Ekins had at the time only recently doubled

for McQueen in the legendary jump over a barbed wire fence in the movie, The Great Escape. The team suffered numerous problems at that year’s event, however, but a Six Days Trophy Team entry from the United States was established.
One of this year’s competitors, THOR-sponsored Kailub Russell, had the distinction of being a part of Team USA in its two recent victories of the Men’s World Trophy competition in 2016 and 2019. Hopes were high this year for the American team as the Six Days visited France, but unfortunately this was not to be their year. Injuries and mechanical problems plagued many riders, including Russell, throughout the week. Team USA finished 5th in the Men’s World Trophy
scoring behind the teams from Great Britain, Italy, Spain, and France. Russell was ranked 15th overall, the top-scoring individual American.
In the Women’s class, Team USA finished 6th behind Great Britain, France, Australia, Sweden, and Canada. Moosesponsored riders Korie Steede was 2nd overall individually and Rachel Gutish was ranked 6th.
There were no gold medals or team awards for Team USA this year, just one guarantee: they will be back next year when the International Six Days Enduro is held in Argentina. ■
Introducing the all new Sentinel LTD Knee Guard. Featuring a low profile co-molded ABS/TPU chassis, anatomical flush mounted hinge design, lightweight molded EVA foam liner, and strategic venting- the Sentinel LTD Knee Guard is Built For This.
It’s got a wide stance, burly wheels and enough LED lighting to burn a tunnel in the forest. It’s exactly what customers want on their trailer as they drive out to the desert or the woods.
It’s Moose Racing’s Polaris RZR XP 1000 Sport, built for the 2022 North American NVP Product Expo in Madison, Wisconsin, to showcase the incredible array of parts and accessories Moose has developed for the sport UTV market, all of which is available in the Parts Unlimited catalogs.
A staple in off-road and motocross, Moose Racing knows dirt. From its legendary riding apparel and gear, to its replacement parts and maintenance items, Moose is a
foundational brand in the powersports world. Years back, the brand branched out into the UTV market, supply ing hunters and farmers with the parts, accessories and equipment they needed to tackle tasks on the ranch and in the woods. Then, the sport UTV market emerged, and Moose knew they needed to be part of it.
“We got into the market about two years ago, because that part of the industry was growing so rapidly. The RZR market is huge,” says Kyle Phillips, Four Wheel Product Development Lead at Moose Racing and Moose Utility Division. “It’s what consumers are buying. The sport UTV craze started on the West Coast, and it’s massive there, but it’s making its way across the country.”
It’s obvious that the sport UTV segment is white hot. Vehicles are flying off of showroom floors as enthusiasts are embracing the go-anywhere, family friendly nature of the sport. Right after a vehicle sale comes the parts and accessories sales, and Moose knew it had the knowledge and experience to develop attractive, functional parts for the category. Phillips and his team dove in.
This XP 1000 that debuted at NVP is the end result of their efforts. “It’s got everything we could do, all the stuff we’ve made,” reports Phillips. “We usually borrow machines, but we bought this one, which made a big difference since we could do whatever we wanted with it – wrap it, run wiring, install more parts.” Moose threw the book at the project, elevating a base 2022 RZR XP 1000 Sport to dream-rig status with 416X wheels and Insurgent tires, Moose’s roof, folding windshield and back panel, enough lighting and stereo equipment to host a party at the trailhead, plus a whole lot more.
This XP 1000 is an example of what your customers can do with the Moose Racing catalog, which includes front winches to LED tail lights and everything in between. Here’s a closer look at what Phillips and his team put on this rig to make it such a hit at the NVP.
COMFORT AND CONTROL
Without a windshield, roof and back panel your customers will be driving through a windstorm and end up covered in dust and dirt. To keep the passengers of this RZR protected from the sun and rain, Moose has a sturdy bolt-on roof made from ¼-inch HMWPE plastic that features contours for rigidity strength. Moose’s windshield offers complete frontal weather protection when up, or your customers can fold it down in the middle for a blast of fresh air. At the back of the rig, a custom-cut back panel prevents dirt and dust from swirling into the cabin.
The XP 1000 Sport doesn’t come with lower doors, so Moose crafted a set of lightweight aluminum inserts that mount to the OE upper doors without the need to modify the stock parts. For extra convenience and storage, Moose’s RZR door bags offer 9 liters of storage. Bolted to the rocker panels, Moose’s contoured, reinforced, 1¾-inch steel-tube nerf bars extend out 5 inches to protect the chassis in rough terrain.
Comfort is king, even in the wilderness, which is why Moose offers these excellent bucket seats. They use marine-grade vinyl to resist the elements and incorporate rear vents to allow water, sand, and dirt to pass through. These seats have a short base and taller backrest, plus lower sides for easy in-and-out.
Keeping the passengers secure in those seats is a four-point harness made from 2-inch webbing with extra-large padded chest and shoulder straps. The single-click, automotive-style buckle makes getting in and out easier, and the universal mounting hardware means you can use these harnesses with just about any UTV.
ROLLING STOCK
“Wheels and tires are such a popular upgrade,” says Phillips, which is why Moose offers a variety of attractive rims and tires for UTVs. For the XP 1000, Phillips selected the burly and beautiful 416X rims in all black, and equipped them with 30x10x14 Insurgent tires. These square-profile tires provide a huge contact patch for great grip, and give any rig a sturdier look. To widen the rig’s stance even more, this RZR has Moose’s 2½-inch wheel spacers slotted between the rims and hubs.
Moose Racing's seats provide plenty of comfort, good news for driver and passenger because they are staying put thanks to Moose’s fourpoint harnesses.
A sport UTV like the RZR XP 1000 needs to reach its performance potential, and the Trinity Racing slip-on exhaust is just the ticket for improved sound and grunt.
LEFT: Just because the sun goes down, doesn’t mean the fun has to end. Moose Racing’s 32-inch LED light bar, LED mirrors, pod rock lights and LED headlights keep things illuminated. ABOVE: A slick machine needs good tunes and Moose Racing’s 32-inch sound provides the audio entertainment during a day’s ride.
If a flat tire stops the fun, there’s a spare 416X/Insurgent wheel secured to the back of the XP 1000 using Moose’s spare-tire carrier. It’s made from large-diameter, powdercoated tubing and retains ample bed storage for a cooler and other cargo. To help get that spare wheel installed, Phil lips made sure to equip the rig with a 2,000-pound capacity, 32-inch jack secured to the right side of the roll cage with Moose’s versatile roll-cage mount.
The left-side roll-cage upright is equipped with a spare belt and fire extinguisher. Moose’s universal fire extinguisher mount has adjustable clamps that fit all common fire extinguishers up to 5 pounds, and the cradle is secured with a quick-release pin for rapid access. The belt holder fits belts from 1¼ inches to 1½ inches wide and features pads for a snug fit.
LIGHTS AND SOUND
UTV drivers love their lights, and Moose has lots of options. There are LED light bars in five lengths (from 8 inches to 42 inches) packed with durable CREE LEDs. Phillips outfitted the RZR’s roof with the 32-inch array, which are supplemented by Moose’s LED mirrors. These mirrors fit both 1¾-inch and 2-inch roll cages, and offer a broad rearview while shining 5,400 lumens forward for better lateral illumination.
Out back, a set of 3-inch LED pod lights offer visibility while backing up, while underneath the XP 1000 a set of four pod rock lights offer millions of color combinations for a fun effect. Moose’s 3-foot whip light is also equipped with RGB LEDs, providing colorful visibility on the trail. Both the pod lights and whip have a variety of patterns and light effects, including music synchronization.
Headlight and tail light damage is pretty common on the trail, so Moose designed direct-replacement LED units for the XP 1000. The headlights are available in a blacked-out version as well as white with a halo feature, and Moose has your RZR customers covered with replacement side and middle tail lights.
Music makes it a party, which is why Phillips outfitted his rolling showpiece with Moose’s powerful 32-inch sound bar. It has a built-in amplifier and Bluetooth connectivity so your customers can bump their favorite tunes while exploring the trails. The sound bar is suitable for surface or roll-cage mounting, and comes with hardware for both options. It even has a built-in map light for added convenience after dark.
Sharing space on the upper roll-cage bar is Moose’s expan sive rear-view mirror, which makes the stock mirror look
like a postage stamp. This unit has one fixed center mirror and two adjustable blind-spot mirrors for a comprehensive rear view.
Rounding out the list of appealing mods and giving the Moose XP 1000 a boost in power and sound is a Trinity Rac ing slip-on exhaust. If you think the sound bar has good bass, wait until you hear this thing! The Trinity pipe is a free-flowing system that sounds great and improves power across the rev range, and includes stainless-steel head and mid pipes and dual aluminum mufflers with a brushed finish.
Finally, Kevin Kelly, Creative Director for Moose Racing, designed a custom wrap that was installed by SSI Decals in Galena, Illinois.
IN STOCK AND READY TO SHIP
Moose’s rolling showpiece was a big hit at the NVP, and the products that made it so popular are all available to order now. Let your RZR customers know that Moose Racing has the parts and accessories they need to customize, modify and improve their sport UTVs. ■

Form and Function: Evolved 2023 Riding Accessories
Throughout the early years of motocross, a young Swedish rider named Torsten Hallman was in bar-to-bar battles with other legends of the sport. While he raced around the world, he played an important role developing motocross racing in the United States. Hallman raced professionally into 1971, chocking up several world titles and many victories. He then shifted his focus to establishing his own racewear company, appropriately dubbed Hallman Racing.
Hallman focused on providing riders with products that could improve experience and performance in areas identified from his own racing experience. More than fifty years later, THOR has entered its 2023 model year for its racewear. It’s pushing innovation and variety more than ever, offering rider equipment designed, developed and proven to fit the needs of all types of riders, from moto cross to Adventure. These include a variety of race-proven goggles, boots and innovative knee guards.
Sight is one of the most critical functions riders rely on to remain focused and connected with the track, which is why THOR’s Activate goggles are designed to deliver premium optical accuracy.
A critical piece, Activate goggles’ lenses are die cut from extremely strong material and are UV protected with antifog and scratch resistant coatings, all working together for premium clarity and visual accuracy. The lenses are shaped with THOR’s FOV+ (Field of View) design for enhanced peripheral vision and surrounded by a modern, outrigger frame design to ensure precise goggle fit and placement.
Intake ports improve ventilation and reduce fogging, while moisture management is handled by triple-layer face foam. Both the Activate goggle and lens are tested and certified to strict safety standards.
Six different color combinations featuring complementary mirrored lens colors can easily give riders the factory look they love. Add some tear offs and your customers will be ready for anything the track or trail throws their way.
For your customers who want a quality goggle at a budget friendly price, THOR’s Regiment goggle line features high-quality materials and construction much like the Activate goggles, but with a simpler, yet highly functional, design. These goggles utilize the same FOV+ technology integrated into a design that provides ventilation, antifog lenses, tear-off integration and durable construction for a goggle suitable for almost anyone.
Every day at the track or on the trails can’t always be perfect conditions, which is why the Regiment Storm goggle is ready to perform when the weather isn’t cooperating.
Equipped with a 45mm roll-off system, dimpled lens to prevent moisture build-up, enhanced ventilation for fog prevention and triple layer foam, these goggles are designed with a list of features that build on the Regiment platform to make vision clearer and more consistent in wet and muddy conditions.
Tasked with the critical responsibilities of shifting gears, stopping, gripping, balance and more, the feet and lower legs are some of the most vulnerable when riding. THOR’s Radial Boots were designed with function and protection in mind, offering a modern boot that exceeds all the requirements of riding at any level.
Function within the Radial Boot is handled by pre-curved, injection molded components with integrated protection throughout for an incredibly stout package. The radial hinge adds supportive structure while promoting safe mobility for your customers. A secure and comfortable fit is provided by the adjustable straps, mesh liners for airflow and the low profile toe box design.
Radial Boots are designed to deliver this functional protec tion for many rides to come with a replaceable outsole and fully synthetic calf overlays, maximizing durability. All of these features are packaged in six different color options, sure to satisfy just about any look your customers are after.
Certain categories of protective equipment have come and gone in motocross and off-road over the years, yet knee protection has stuck around for decades. Simultaneously one of the most used and injury-susceptible parts of the body for a rider, even a little bit can go a long way with knee protection.
Sentinel LTD knee guards from THOR are among the latest products informed by years of experience in protective riding equipment. Developed using professional level feedback, Sentinel LTD knee guards utilize an anatomical,
flush-mounted hinge design to allow for natural feeling knee movement while riding.
The ergonomic design features lightweight, molded foam with an interior comfort liner surrounded by a stout, plastic composite chassis. These knee guards remain secure during action with an upper, hook-andloop fastener and an integrated, stretch mesh calf sleeve. Sold in pairs and available in two colors, Sentinel LTD knee guards are a perfect complement to your customers’ THOR racewear collection. ■

Innovative, Value-Packed Products A New Line of Tires and Wheels
COMPANY
High Lifter’s Appex Alloy HL23 has a unique meshed split-spoke design and impressive 1,200-pound load rating.
Like light rain on a dirt trail or a perfectly cooked burger with your favorite toppings, when the right ingredients come together it elevates things to a whole new level. That’s the case with Nivel Parts & Manufacturing and STW Offroad (formally STI Tire & Wheel), which have joined forces to provide quality, performance-driven UTV tires and wheels with a new specialized line, High Lifter Tire & Wheel.
Recognizing the talent and experience present at STW Offroad, Nivel brought the entire STW team into High Lifter Tire & Wheel, including company founder Craig Petersen, his general manager, Jamie Chisholm, and brand manager, Colt Brinkerhoff. With more than 75 years of industry ex perience among them, Petersen, Chisholm and Brinkerhoff bring the expertise, insight and connections needed to drive High Lifter Tire & Wheel to success.
“We are very excited to become part of the Nivel team,” Petersen says. “This is a terrific opportunity to bring to market innovative products that have an incredible value
position.” The High Lifter Tire & Wheel team already introduced a slew of new products presented at the Parts NVP. These include an updated Roctane tire, the fourthgeneration Roctane T4, which Petersen says is, “new from the inside out and a better product all around, but with a retail price that’s $100 less than the tire it replaces.”
These tangible business improve ments are the result of Petersen’s industry experience and Nivel’s manufacturing might. Innovation is a staple of Petersen’s business strategy, and is clearly displayed in products like the Chicane DS and Roctane T4 tires as well as the Appex Alloy HL21, HL22, and HL23 wheels.
Joining the new Roctane at the NVP was the Chicane DS, another excellent tire option from High Lifter Tire & Wheel. This non-directional tire design provides a perfect blend of steering and traction performance for sport and utility applications. The tight center-tread spacing excels on hardpack, and wide shoulder lugs pull hard in loose terrain.
Either of High Lifter’s value-priced tires will look good on one of the Appex Alloy line of aluminum wheels. There’s the Appex Alloy HL21, with its stylish 12-legged splitspoke design, or the HL22, which features a sharp, relieved, eight-spoke arrangement, or the HL23, which has a unique meshed split-spoke design and impressive 1,200-pound load rating. All of High Lifter’s wheels are manufactured to tight standards and come with a lifetime warranty.
A lifetime structural warranty is something Petersen pioneered more than 30 years ago, and is just one of numerous trend-setting moves he’s made in his career.
“We have a knack for identifying new applications and trends for ATVs and UTVs,” he says. Maintaining a close eye on where things are headed has allowed Petersen to keep his business at the forefront of the market, with the new products your customers are eager for. ■

Everything Needed for Rider and Machine Off-Road Prep
Moose Racing EKO aluminum handlebars are a great option for swapping out the OE parts. They are available in two sizes.
How’s that for some grip? Moose Racing’s TI footpegs are made from aerospace-grade titanium, and feature a cleated 57mmwide platform for a solid platform.
When it comes to getting ready for off-road riding, Moose Racing has everything need ed to get both the bike and rider prepped. A rider can get outfitted with gear like the Qualifier racewear, while basics from handlebars to hard ware help get bikes set up for everything from a day of casual trail riding to on-track competition. Whether it’s a big parts swap or the tiniest bolt, Moose Racing has it.
Swapping out stock handlebars for an option that is light weight, but sturdy, is a cinch with the Moose Racing EKO aluminum handlebars. The EKO handlebars are an afford able aluminum handlebar option, and riders have two sizes to choose from. The 7/8-inch handlebar is made from 6061 T6 aluminum, and the larger, 11/8-inch handlebar is made from 7000 Series aluminum materials.
Details of the EKO handlebars include knurling on the clutch-side bar to make sure the grip adheres securely. The clamp-type crossbar system adds support and strength, and the crossbar comes encased in a Moose Racing pad. The bars are topped off with a black or silver anodized finish for a sleek look that holds up under hard use.
If a rider is swapping out parts, footpegs are likely to be on the list of things to upgrade. Moose Racing’s TI footpegs are made from aerospace-grade titanium, which ensures a great blend of extreme light weight and durability.
The TI footpegs measure in at less than 300 grams per set. They might be light, but they are built for hard work. The 57mm-wide platform gives the rider a solid stance on the bike –especially ideal for aggressive riding situations – and the surface features a cleated pattern designed to provide outstanding grip. The front and rear edge of the peg is beveled, which helps prevent the pegs from getting caught in deep ruts.
In all, the TI footpegs feature a factory look with a racingminded design. There are fitments available for all popular late-model off-road bikes.
Sometimes, the smallest of parts can make the differ ence between being out on the trail or sitting on the sidelines. And, by the smallest of parts, that of course means hardware. A missing bolt, nut or fastener can be a huge pain. And, as we all know, sometimes the hard
Moose Racing has hardware replacement kits that contain all the nuts, bolts and fasteners needed for a job in one convenient spot. The kits are make/model specific and are also available in metric sizing.
ware isn’t missing, it’s just misplaced. Moose Racing’s motorcycle hardware kits make life a whole lot easier by organizing hardware in one convenient spot. No more unexpected trips to the store for one tiny little thing, and no more rooting around the garage for a bolt that has to be there, somewhere.
Moose Racing makes it especially simple by packaging the hardware kits according to the make and model. Customers can choose from a Honda CR/CRF, Kawasaki KX/KXF, Suzuki RM/RMZ or Yamaha YZ/YZF kit. All of the kits include those hard-to-find sizes that are specific to certain models.
There are also two more generic – but equally useful – hardware kits available, including one for European fasteners and one for metric fasteners.
All of the nuts, bolts and fasteners in the kits are OEM quality, and the various pieces of hardware come neatly packaged in a divided organizer. It couldn’t be easier to find the right piece of hardware for the job at hand. The hardware kits are great to have in the shop, but they
are an absolute must at the track and should be in every racer’s arsenal.
Of course, in order to work on a bike, it has to be properly secured. No garage or trackside setup is complete without a bike stand, and the Moose Racing MR-2 Fundamental bike stand is a sturdy, straightforward option. The stand is constructed from steel tubing and will withstand some tough use.
Up top, the MR-2 Fundamental bike stand has a thick rubber mat to help protect a bike’s frame rails. There is also a 4-inch drain hole to make oil changes simple. Down on the bottom, plates are welded to the legs to prevent the stand from sinking into soft dirt, making it useful in even the lousiest of paddock conditions.
The MR-2 Fundamental stand is powder coated for durability and is available in black. ■

Adaptive for Autumn
Autumn means shorter days and seasonal road hazards. J.W. Speaker’s Adaptive 2 headlights were developed with these conditions in mind – they light up dark corners of the road ahead of a rider.
Adaptive 2 lights are available to fit a wide range of motorcycles with both model-specific and pedestal mount configurations in common 7-inch and 5.75-inch sizes.
Riding season may vary geographically, but what remains constant is the feeling that it is a special time that likely goes by too fast for most. Thank fully, the natural progression of technology in gear and equipment combined with the never-wavering passion of riders over the years has allowed your custom ers to stretch their time on two wheels, especially for those in climate sensitive conditions.
Companies like J.W. Speaker are among those leading the technological charge, specifically in motorcycle lighting. J.W. Speaker’s level of dedication to motorcycling goes beyond just brighter, better lights; the company has com mitted to improving the riding experience, something achieved through research, testing and execution.
The Adaptive 2 series range of headlight assemblies from J.W. Speaker for motorcycles are a leg up on halogen and other OEM lights with high-powered LEDs offering a punch of light up to 1,500 feet down the road. However, what really sets them apart is the proprietary, adaptive technology that fills dark voids when cornering by automatically activating specific LEDs.
The motivation behind this lighting technology stems from decades of motorcycling and motorsports involvement. The J.W. Speaker team identified that while the autumn
season can be an exciting time to get out and ride, it also poses challenges and dangers from Mother Nature. Precarious weather conditions are common in autumn in many areas, including rain, sleet and snow. Unique to the season as well, roads under large trees and other foliage can remain shaded throughout the day, allowing ice to remain or dropping wet leaves. All of these conditions are bad news for traction and visibility on two wheels.
Despite that, your customers don’t want to give up their riding time, which is why the Adaptive 2 headlights were developed with these conditions in mind. With common headlight voids filled with lighted visibility, riders will get a heads-up on what’s to come as they navigate curves during their autumn rides, allowing them time to make preventative moves to avoid trouble.
Weather conditions are not the only potential hazards the autumn season can bring. In J.W. Speaker’s research, the risk of animals being in roadways can peak during the September through November months, and animal vs. motorcycle is not a battle any rider wants to be in.
With corner-filling lighting from the Adaptive 2 lights, riders have a much greater chance of seeing animals pop ping out from the sides of the road, whatever time of day they might be riding.
All-in-all, the Adaptive 2 lights are designed to remove the guesswork of what might lie ahead, helping riders maxi mize their enjoyment. Adaptive 2 lights are available to fit a wide range of motorcycles with both model-specific and pedestal mount configurations in common 7-inch and 5.75-inch sizes. ■

ADAPT FOR SHORTER DAYS
The Adaptive® 2 Headlights illuminate dark spots to the left and right of the rider’s main beam as they turn to help manage the risks of riding at night. With fitments for over 1,000 styles of motorcycles, no matter what you drive, we’ve got you covered.
The Fifth Generation of FAST A New Purpose-Built Track-Day Tire
compound to improve dry grip. To do this, they changed the polymer, reduced the shore hardness by 5 points (softer), increased the carbon black content by utilizing Carbon R technology, and added a traction resin and fine-tuned the curatives. Finally, they optimized the tread pattern design and position to aid in quicker warm-up times and improved wet-weather performance.
While the new Q5 front received the lion’s share of the changes, the rear Q5 was updated significantly as well. Profiles have been altered to match and compliment the new contour of the front tires. In fact, the 140/70, 180/60, 200/55, and 200/60 sizes utilize the exact same profiles as the race spec tires developed for the MotoAmerica series. The aggressive profiles improve turn-in and increase the tire’s footprint and grip at lean compared to the Q4.
The Dunlop Sportmax Q5 is here. The fifth generation Dunlop Sportmax Q5 is a streetlegal track-day tire that combines the best characteristics of the popular Q4 with even more of the DNA from Dunlop’s cutting-edge MotoAmerica spec road race tires.
This new Q5 raises the bar with enhanced constructions, updated profiles, new rubber compounds and revised tread patterns. Compared to the Q4, the new Q5 offers faster warm-up time, quicker and more sure-footed han dling, as well as improved traction in both the dry and the wet, all without the need for tire warmers. Dunlop is also rolling the Q5 out in five additional sizes (110/70ZR17, 140/70ZR17, 150/60ZR17, 160/60ZR17 and 200/60ZR17), so you’ll be able to equip more of your customers’ bikes with this premium performance rubber.
With most modern sportbikes utilizing some form of electronics to influence and control rear-tire behavior, Dun lop decided to put an increased emphasis on improving front-tire performance. With this increased focus, Dunlop’s Advanced Research Team (DART), an internal group of Dunlop’s top tire designers, engineers and chemists, went to work on a host of front tire improvements.
The front tire profile and construction was changed to allow for a 2mm taller and 2mm narrower tire. This taller and narrower profile created a more compliant tire, improving turn-in behavior, and increasing the tire’s footprint and grip at lean. Next, DART enhanced the
The team then went to work on improving the compound to enhance the dry grip even more by adjusting the polymer, reducing the shore hardness by 1 point (softer), increasing the amount of carbon black content by utiliz ing Carbon R technology and increasing oil content. The culmination of these changes puts the rear tire compound much closer to a true race tire compound, yet it still does not require the use of tire warmers.
Dunlops Sportmax Q5 is positioned to be the company’s benchmark in track-day performance, and an excellent option for more aggressive riders. With even better grip and handling and a size lineup that covers every sportbike, the Dunlop Sportmax Q5 is going to be a slam dunk. ■

HELMETS
Style and Substance New Helmet Graphics, New ECE Certification
The retro-flavored Airflite Quarterflash pays homage to Sega’s Hang-On arcade game from 1985 that fueled a lot of dreams about owning a real motorcycle someday.
The newest helmets from ICON are hard to miss, with bright colors and bold graphics. However, this fall collection is more than just a bunch of pretty faces. The two new Airflite helmets are the first ones from ICON to carry ECE 22.06 certification.
Before diving into the great graphics on the Airflite Quarterflash and MIPS Omnicrux helmets, let’s take a closer look at what the ECE 22.06 stamp of approval really means. ICON’s helmets are all already ECE 22.05, but the 22.06 certification means helmets have undergone the newest set of testing parameters. Whenever there is an update to the testing, every aspect is improved – as in, more difficult to pass – which creates a higher all-around threshold for success.
One of the other changes introduced with the 22.06 parameters is that there are more points on a helmet that might be tested. What this means is that a helmet manufacturer cannot simply build a helmet that is good enough only in a handful of testing areas, since more areas are subject to testing. Now, helmets must be great overall in order to pass. This higher standard means riders can have even more confidence when wearing an ECEcertified helmet.
ICON’s Airflite Omnicrux features a radical skull graphic that shows bright pops of color.
Now that we’ve gotten past the technical stuff, let’s dive into those graphics. The Airflite Quarterflash screams “retro” in colors some of us haven’t seen together since the ’80s. That makes sense since the Quarterflash pays homage to Sega’s Hang-On, the arcade game that fueled a lot of dreams about owning a real motorcycle someday. The eight-bit styling reflects the Hang-On graphics, which seemed hightech when Sega introduced the game back in 1985.
To celebrate the launch of the Airflite Quarterflash, ICON built a Kawasaki Z125 that looks like the bikes found in the game.
The Airflite MIPS Omnicrux features skulls, an ICON classic. Unlike other skull graphics, though, the Omnicrux has bright pops of color. The matte Rubatone finish helps make those colors stand out even more to create a bright, bold look.
The Airflite MIPS Omnicrux is also significant for some thing that can’t be seen. It is the only ICON helmet to have both an ECE 22.06 certification and the MIPS Brain Protec tion System (BPS). MIPS BPS can reduce harmful forces transmitted to the brain by allowing a slight uncoupled movement of the shell and liner during a crash. This is possible thanks to a thin, low-friction layer that is inserted between the shell and the EPS liner, which enables a slight sliding motion in all directions in the event of an impact.
ICON’s fall collection of helmets also includes three new graphics for the Airform helmet, including Death or Glory, Jellies – featuring glow-in-the-dark jellyfish – and Suicide King. ■

Make that Side-by-Side Sing Go-Fast Parts for a Range of Models
Whether your customers are sand dune rippers, woods riders or they prefer the vast terrain of the desert, some added power never hurts when it comes to today’s popular side-by-side models.
Trinity Racing has been designing and manufacturing performance products for off-road machines since 1978, and continue to bring to market a range of new go-fast parts. When it came time to expand beyond the ATV market, Trinity decided to set its sights on the booming UTV business, and boy was that a smart decision! Now Trinity Racing focuses solely on the UTV market, building a big lineup of parts and accessories for today’s performance UTVs.
Trinity Racing products stand out for a few reasons. The first being that they are made right in the USA at the company’s headquarters in Huntington Beach, California. It’s here that Trinity exhaust systems are hand TIG welded and bent on mandrel benders. This not only makes them tough, but also attractive. Mufflers are extruded out of aluminum and welded in house.
The second reason they stand out is the signature design.
Trinity Stage 5 exhaust systems utilize brushed stainless steel header pipes, mated to a beautiful Stage 5 muffler
body. Inside that muffler is a stainless-steel baffle and a sealed pillow of fiberglass.
This all leads up to the third reason Trinity Racing touts its exhaust product – the sound! The special fiberglass packing is the reason Trinity Racing exhaust systems sound so good. They are not too loud, and not too quiet, just a nice deep rumble that lets your customers know that not only do their cars look good, they also sound great!
Trinity offers a variety of exhaust systems for just about any performance UTV. From Can-Am to Honda and Polaris to Yamaha, the company has the pipes for increased power. Best of all, each system is a simple bolt-on part that is easily installed thanks to quality instructions and video tutorials. The latter detail will be good news for your shop techs and your DIY customers.
Along with those performance exhausts, Trinity also manufactures a range of complementary products that all work together to make the good times not just fun, but faster. Check out Trinity’s lineup of drive belts, clutch kits and fuel management systems. All are a great suggestion to a customer upgrading the exhaust on their machine. ■

PRO R EXHAUSTS ARE HERE!
NEXT LEVEL UTV PERFORMANCE
After countless hours Dyno testing, the new RZR Pro R exhaust is ready for purchase. This slip-on is an all-new design, utilizing hand made stainless steel muffler bodies with 2.5-inch baffles. This system provides huge gains to horsepower, sound and the overall look of your Pro R.
TIRES
Radial Ride
The All-New Blacktail ATV/UTV Tire
Whether your customers are on an ATV or UTV, big or small, well-worn or brand new, you know you can rely on AMS for quality tires at a price your customers will appreciate.
AMS’s focus on offroad tires has led to a massive catalog of rubber, spanning from the iconic do-it-all M1 Evil to duneready paddle tires like the Sidewinder. AMS is now proud to announce another tire to the lineup. With the addition of the radial Blacktail UTV and ATV tire in diameters from 25 to 32 inches, AMS has yet another excellent option for your customers.
The Blacktail is a radial-construction tire with a wide foot print that helps provide excellent traction and enhanced shock absorption on rough surfaces. With thick, deep lugs and a well-spaced tread pattern, the Blacktail is suitable for adventures in dirt, mud, or rocks, in the woods or out in the desert. Overlapping center treads provide a consistent rolling surface for a smooth ride on hard-packed surfaces. The large voids between lugs lead to good self-cleaning characteristics in mud and help the tread blocks bite into softer surfaces like sand and gravel.
These tires boast beefy 25/32-inch treads that wrap around the tires’ shoulders, helping to protect the sidewalls as well as offering added traction in especially loose, deep terrain.
An integrated rim guard helps protect wheels from dents and gouges, and works with the Blacktail’s radial carcass construction to offer carefully tuned ride quality.
Available in 25-inch to 32-inch diameters for rims from 12 inches to 15 inches, the Blacktails utilize 6 plies for the 25-, 26-, and 27-inch sizes, and 8 plies for the larger 28-, 30-, and 32-inch sizes. Those plies are laid down in a radial ar rangement, creating a fully modern radial tire that offers a softer ride, better traction, and less vibration, among other advantages. AMS is committed to embracing cutting-edge technology, which is why they offer so many radial ATV/UTV tires.
Topping off the Blacktails’s radial carcass is a cap and layer and tread made of durable natural rubber. All these features combine to create a versatile tire that can get your customers up, over, through or around just about any obstacle or terrain.
The Blacktail is the newest ATV/UTV tire from AMS, and is another exciting option for that customer who wants premium features at a more affordable price. Blacktails are in warehouses and ready to ship. ■

Legendary country western singer Buck Owens and latter-day pop star Janet Jackson each had hit songs titled, “Together Again.” Whichever version you prefer, it’s the perfect way to describe the atmosphere on August 18 at the Monona Terrace Convention Center in Madi son when LeMans Corporation’s bi-annual National Vendor Presentation (NVP) resumed after a three-year Covid hiatus.
It was a great four-day reunion of friends and business as sociates as much as it was a dealer trade show or sales rep training program. A successful event in every way.
“A record number of vendors, dealers and LeMans staff par ticipated in the 2022 Summer NVP and post show feedback has been abundant and extremely positive,” said Paul Lang ley, LeMans Corporation Chairman and CEO. “The planning and teamwork put forth by our dedicated staff along with a three-year hiatus crafted the best NVP I have ever witnessed. Moving forward, we can build on this momentum for 2023 and beyond.”
The NVPs began years ago as product training meetings just for Parts Unlimited and Drag Specialties reps. In recent years, however, Parts Canada’s President, James Danyluk and his team put a great effort into including their group, which
led to a name change. The event now known as the North American NVP Product Expo saw a large contingent of Parts Canada management, sales reps and dealers.
“It had been three years since we last got together, after mere minutes with old industry friends it became very evident the show was going to be a success,” Danyluk said. “The two main ingredients for a successful show are great industry relationships and mutual sales objectives and the 2022 Madison NVP was a complete success on both.”
The NVP format was virtually the same as in past years, with the first two days devoted to internal company meetings and product education seminars for the sales reps by many leading aftermarket manufacturers. Then, the Product Expo portion of the event for the dealers followed for the next two days with an expanded floorplan that took up much of two floors at the historic Monona Terrace Convention Center.
The 8th annual Michelin Jam was as popular as ever, despite the sad reminder that Drag Specialties’ long time sales leader Jim Matchette would not be on stage. This year’s Jam was the first to be held since Jim’s passing in June of 2021. A toast was made during the night along with a Jim Matchette memorial T-shirt being worn by some band members.
TOGETHER AGAIN
2022 NORTH AMERICAN NVP PRODUCT EXPO
Story by Don EmdeMADISON, WISCONSIN
Organized by Michelin’s own Eric Miller, the event has always been a fun night out for NVP attendees at the nearby Majestic Theater. Attendees were provided with an amazing musical experience, as well as a chance to enjoy an evening with friends and fellow industry members. NVP participants who sing and/ or play musical instruments appeared on stage with little to no previous experience as a group and yet delivered some great musical hits throughout the evening.
Another popular NVP after-hours event was the Meet & Greet reception. Although stormy weather forced the event to move inside the hall from its usual rooftop location, the food, refresh ments and motorcycle displays carried on as always for the capacity crowd. A variety of motorcycles were displayed rang ing from examples of vintage roadrace and custom motorcycles to some of the most successful of the current King of the Baggers and Bagger Racing League race bikes.
The weather cleared up after the Meet & Greet had ended, which allowed another NVP tradition to continue. This year’s edition of the entertaining ICON stunt show was held in a pre-arranged area in downtown Madison. Impressive motorcycle stunts were performed by Jason Britton’s No Limits performance team as well as an entertaining competition involving numerous NVP participants aboard some small electric-powered bicycles.
While most elements of this year’s Madison NVP were the same as before, one notable exception was when Le Mans Corporation Chairman/CEO Paul Langley had his first opportunity to speak publicly to the employees, sales reps and vendors. Company founder Fred Fox retired during the Covid break and brought Langley, the 40-year Powersports veteran, in to fill his previous role.
Langley and LeMans President Mike Collins teamed up in the Lecture Hall a few times throughout the event for some pre sentations that provided a very interesting look at numerous challenges the company had to overcome in the last three years, where LeMans Corporation is today, and where it is going in the future. All would agree, the management is solid and the future is bright.
“This was the largest family reunion I have ever attended. It was also the best. We’ve set the bar very high with this one,” Collins said. “I can’t wait for Louisville!”
With the three-year NVP Covid hiatus now over, dealers, sales reps and vendors now have their sights set on the return of the Spring NVP Product Expo in Louisville, Kentucky at the KICC Convention Center on January 21-22, 2023. Talk with your Parts rep for details on attending the show.

Assist line includes a long sleeve jersey and full-length pant that are designed for comfort and performance.
Eight-time U.S. National Downhill Champion and five-time World Downhill Champion Aaron Gwin proudly competes – and wins! – in THOR/INTENSE gear.
If the history of riding and racing motorcycles has taught us one thing it’s that two-wheeled culture is not just a hobby or a sport, it’s a lifestyle. Across the board in motorcycle riding and racing, action on two wheels doesn’t end when riders load-up and leave the track or trails. Bicycles have played an integral role in the evolution of their motorized cousins’ sport and THOR has been eagerly engaging in this crossover for years.
Cycling has been heavily embraced in the off-road motorcycle world, simultaneously elevating existing bicycle enthusiasts to a new level and introducing longtime moto riders to a world of adrenaline and fun.
With almost thirty years in the game, INTENSE Cycles is no stranger to this world and the love for riding, which is why collaborating with THOR came as a natural relationship. Thanks to this relationship, THOR now counts among its sponsored riders eight-time U.S. National Downhill Champion and five-time World Downhill Champion Aaron Gwin, a moto-MTB crossover athlete who personifies THOR’s values and commitment to two wheels.
The THOR/INTENSE line of moun tain biking apparel also includes performance-oriented short sleeve jerseys and riding shorts.
An INTENSE Cycles athlete as well, Aaron grew up racing motocross wearing THOR gear before finding his calling in downhill racing. “It’s funny how certain things in life come full circle,” says Aaron on joining the THOR family. “This is definitely one of those childhood ‘dream come true’ types of moments for me.” With THOR’s racewear knowledge, INTENSE’s cycling expertise and Aaron’s professional expertise, THOR introduced its latest mountain bike wear additions, the INTENSE Assist collection.
THOR/INTENSE Assist gloves enhance grip and comfort.
Whether your customers are casual riders, E-bike cruisers or downhill racers, the INTENSE Assist line has them covered. Designed with a performance fit and durable con struction, INTENSE Assist jerseys wick moisture and remain flexible throughout the ride. Available in short and long sleeve variations, your customers can dress for the ride.
A natural match for the jerseys, INTENSE Assist mountain bike shorts adapt moto inspired design to all levels of cycling performance. These shorts are lightweight enough to complement performance, and rugged enough to tackle terrain. They’re equipped with a side cinch system, snap closure and hook-and-loop fly so riders can secure their exact fit.
For more serious riders hitting downhill runs and lining up for races, INTENSE Assist pants benefit from the same materials and assembly designs as the Assist shorts, but feature a full-length fit that assumes the active riding position for an ultimate combination of coverage, comfort and performance.
Gloves are important for riding control and confidence. THOR/INTENSE Assist gloves are designed to enhance grip and comfort, without feeling overly bulky. Entry Level Headsets Communication for the Masses
Remember when awkward hand signals and hastily shouted messages at stop lights were the only ways to communicate on a motorcycle? Thanks to companies like Sena making Bluetooth headsets, those days are behind us. SNOWMOBILE MARKET REPORT
MORE SLEDS IN USE , MORE CHANCES TO SELL
Last season, pandemic-driven supply chain issues dogged new snowmobile production. Customer deliveries were massively delayed, and that led to 2022 new sled retail sales declining about 2 percent from the 2021 season. Worse, those new sled delivery delays and other technical problems are extending into the 2023 season, altering the retail outlook for the sport.
But a deeper look shows a very different picture as the sport of snowmobiling actually continued to grow again
last season. Total snowmobile registrations in North America climbed by nearly 80,000 units, and registrations are a much more accurate measure of total machines in use than retail sales of new sleds.
Plus, the International Snowmobile Manufacturers Associa tion (ISMA) further reports that 2022 new sled sales were actually up in every significant market outside of North America except Norway. That’s up in Sweden, up in Finland, up in Russia, and up in the “other markets” categories.
With winter around the corner, many customers turn their focus to snowmobiles and snow sports. Now is a great time to gear them up with riding apparel like the lineup from Arctiva, and the parts and accessories found in the Snow catalog.
The bottom line is simple – there were more snowmobilers operating more snow machines last winter than in the prior winter (2020-21), another season that was also characterized by significant growth in the market. And that growth should continue in the coming snowmobile season, so dealers who are ready for the market adjustments should do very well. continued on page 64...
LIQUI MOLY’s 0W-40 snowmobile fully synthetic motor oil offers optimal lubrication and performance for your customers’ 4-stroke machines.
Sub-Zero Performance Winter Focused Oil for All Engines
4-stroke machines. Regardless of which oil your customers use, it’s important to follow the sled manufacturer’s specifications. These can be found in the vehicle’s manual or in the LIQUI MOLY oil guide.
It begins when your customers press the starter button and the low viscosity of LIQUI MOLY’s high-quality synthetic base oils allow it to quickly and easily flow out to critical engine components. With a pour point of -54 degrees Fahrenheit, Snowmobile oil remains fluid and free-flowing in the coldest conditions. This means easier starting since spinning engine parts don’t have to fight against overly viscous oil, as well as better lubrication since the oil pump has an easier time pushing lube out to the transmission, bearings, cylinders and top end.
For those running 2-stroke sleds, LIQUI MOLY’s Snowmobile 2T
Pro Race oil is a great choice. It is designed to work in sub-freezing temperatures, and offers enough lubrication to be mixed at a ratio as lean as 1:100.
LIQUI MOLY’s Motorbike Speed Additive includes accelerants, dispersants and detergents that help improve power and throttle response.
Once the engine is up and running and building heat, LIQUI MOLY’s advanced additive package goes to work, elongating molecules to increase the oil’s viscosity. Behaving like a 40-weight oil once hot, Snowmobile oil offers excellent shear stability and component protection, and includes detergents and other additives to help keep engines clean and running strong all winter long.
For those running 2-stroke sleds, especially Rotax E-Tec engines, LIQUI MOLY’s Snowmobile 2T Pro Race oil is a great choice. This fully synthetic high-performance oil was developed and tested on racing machines, ensuring the best possible performance for your customers’ recreational rigs.
Like LIQUI MOLY’s 4-stroke engine oil, this 2-stroke formulation is designed to work in sub-freezing temperatures, and offers enough lubrication to be mixed at a ratio as lean as 1:100. That makes it a perfect match for Rotax’s latest E-Tec engines, but all 2-stroke engines will benefit from Snowmobile 2T Pro Race oil’s lubrication, cleanliness, and low smoke levels.
As summer winds down, we’re reminded that it’s time to give the snowmobile in the garage a tune up. Pre-season prep includes checking the track, skis, and belt, and of course freshening up the fluids. Lubricating a hard-running 2-stroke or 4-stroke sled in sub-freezing temperatures is imperative. Thankfully, LIQUI MOLY has the formulations your customers need to keep their rigs running smoothly.
LIQUI MOLY developed its Snowmobile fully synthetic motor oil in 0W-40. From sub-freezing startups to fullthrottle operation, LIQUI MOLY Snowmobile oil offers optimal lubrication and performance for your customers’
Winter or summer, 2-stroke or 4-stroke, all internalcombustion engines are good candidates for LIQUI MOLY’s Motorbike Speed Additive. This potent concoction in cludes accelerants, dispersants and detergents that help improve power and throttle response. Simply pour it into the gas tank and Motorbike Speed Additive mixes with the gas and goes to work.
These and all of LIQUI MOLY’s other premium chemicals are proudly made in Germany and in stock through Parts Unlimited. ■

SNOWMOBILE MARKET REPORT
When it comes to snowmobile customers, there are ample opportunities to get them set up for the season. Whether they're new to the sport or veterans ready to start the season, Parts Unlimited is your one-stop shop for parts, apparel and accessories.
OPTIMISM ABOUNDS
The snowmobile market is filled with optimism wherever you look. Snowmobile manufacturers are improving their products for 2023, with Arctic Cat introducing a new chassis, Polaris adding power options, Ski-doo bringing out its latest chassis variant and fast-selling new youth models, Bombardier’s Lynx subsidiary in Finland offering more models to the North American market, and Yamaha is expanding the use of power steering in snowmobiles.
Snowmobile club are bringing back shows and races that were suspended during the pandemic, and adding new events to the calendar. And, many clubs continue investing in new equipment and new facilities to care for the North American snowmobile trail network.
Meanwhile, snowmobile riders are planning to resume their extended trips to the west, to Canada, and to other favorite riding vacation destinations just like in years past. Many will be doing so with new equipment of some sort, so they are in a buying mood.
This is all great news for snowmobile dealers who will have more opportunities to sell new sleds, used sleds, parts, garments, accessories, and trailers to snow riders. Returning snowmobilers are the core of the market, but some riders are quite new to snow riding and will rely on your expertise to get what they really need. Other relative newcomers will be ready for significant upgrades to their rides and gear.
One important profit key for the coming season is readiness for customers who are being forced to get one more year out of their existing ride. Make sure you are well-stocked with consumables like carbide runners, hyfax, spark plugs, drive belts, clutch components, springs, shocks, batteries, and electrical parts.
Some riders may want to upgrade existing components like wind shields or skis or luggage, or give their ride a new look with aftermarket graphics or accessories. Others will need new apparel, so don’t over look needed helmet and vision protection updates, replacing worn out gloves and boots, and that new suit that just makes a snowmobiler feel great about the coming riding season. ■

The vintage snowmobile market continues to be popular and there are many types of customers among those old sled fans. From the riders keeping old machines running out of necessity to the hardcore riders who store vintage sleds right alongside their new machines. All of them need parts and accessories to service and upgrade their machines, and apparel for when it’s time to ride.
The Vintage Connection
Vintage snowmobiling continues as one of the hottest aspects of the sport, so it is important to understand the details of this sometime confusing part of the hobby.
The retro-riders are the low end of the vintage market. Trail riding old sleds because that is all they can currently afford, the retro-riders tend to be young and mechanically inclined. As they mature and become better-off financially, they typically trade up to newer machines.
This is an outstanding market for your late-model trade-ins, and eventually for new machines. They’ll also need parts, accessories and apparel all the way through the process. So don’t ignore these seeds for future big bucks business just because they are only buying a few obsolete parts right now.
Serious vintage snowmobile collectors tend to be older, much more affluent, and much more experienced riders who tend to own multiple machines, both old and new. They are among the best customers you can have because they tend to spend heavily on both restorations and on new machines and equipment.
Many of these hard-core riders own literally dozens of snowmobiles, multiple trailers, and closets full of clothing. Even though snowmobile manufacturers gen erally ignore vintage riders and collectors, smart dealers do not overlook the ability to attract potentially profitable new cus tomers from this group by offering what they need to restore old snow machines.
Vintage racers are in a class by them selves. Often keying in on just one or two machines built for specific racing classes, they need the same kinds of products (mostly consumables) as riders who race new machines, but with specifics tailored to the old sleds.
Popularity of various types of racing and racing classes varies from one area to another, so find out what kind of vintage racing is popular in your area and adjust your product offerings accordingly.
Cold-Weather Oils for Winter Fun For Racers, By Racers
The all-new Tundra Full-Syn 2T oil uses a clean-burning, low-ash formula and also includes additives to minimize carbon buildup as well as prevent corrosion.
It takes confidence in your products to put them to the test in competition, but that’s exactly what Maxima Racing Oils has done since the beginning. Founded in Southern California in 1979, Maxima was created by racers, for racers, and has been involved in many forms of powersports competition throughout the years. That means your customers can rely on Maxima to provide the high-level protection their machines need, and for snow mobile riders getting ready for a busy winter riding season, Maxima has several options from which to choose.
Proper lubrication is crucial for any engine, but 2-strokes are especially reliant on quality oils due to how little of it is available to keep the piston, cylinder, crankshaft and bear ings spinning smoothly. Maxima’s new Tundra Full-Syn 2T snowmobile oil is an ester-based synthetic oil designed to ensure optimum protection and performance from idle up to redline.
Tundra Full-Syn 2T uses premium synthetic base stocks and Maxima’s proprietary blend of anti-wear additives to provide maximum engine output and component protection in cold temperatures. With a pour point of -50 degrees Fahrenheit, Tundra Full-Syn 2T is engineered to perform from sub-zero startup to the hottest operating temperatures, and is ideal for use in DFI applications.
The all-new Tundra Full-Syn 2T oil uses a clean-burning, low-ash formula and also includes additives to minimize carbon buildup as well as prevent corrosion. The synthetic, ester-based technology helps Tundra Full-Syn 2T stick to metal parts, improving scuff protection and detergent
properties. This is a high-quality 2T snowmobile product that’s ideal for high-performance applications, and can be used in premix or poured into the oil tank on injectorequipped rigs.
Sleds with 4-stroke engines may have things a little easier thanks to their forced-lubrication systems, but pumping oil at startup at sub-freezing temps is no easy task. That’s why Maxima Snow 4T full-synthetic oil comes in 0W-40 and utilizes special additives designed to make it perform in the coldest climates.
At startup when things are frosty cold, Maxima Snow 4T behaves like a 0-weight oil, flowing easily so that the oil pump can deliver lube without delay. As the engine warms, viscosity index improvers thicken the oil to help maintain a boundary layer of protection on moving parts. Once again, synthetic ester molecules are called upon to help maintain viscosity and film thickness under extreme conditions.
Snow 4T also contains additional additives to keep engines clean and reduce harmful buildup that can impact performance and reliability. Whether your customers are working with a high-performance liquid-cooled snowmobile or an air-cooled utility vehicle, Maxima Snow 4T full -synthetic oil will help keep it running strong.
There’s something to be said for a brand that’s heavily involved in racing, and Maxima Racing Oils products can be seen in nearly every form of competition. ■

ATV and UTV Accessories for Winter
As the days get shorter and temperatures become colder, dealers can look forward to helping ATV and UTV customers prepare for the winter months. Moose Utility Division has everything an ATV or UTV rider needs to outfit their vehicle for the snow and ice, as well as the tricky conditions that come with those things. Plows, winches and tire chains will help those riders handle the winter with ease.
Roads and trails have to be kept clear, which means having a plow on hand is an absolute must in snowy areas. With a Moose Utility Division plow and mounting system, an ATV or UTV can be turned into the perfect snow-clearing machine.
Plow blade options include the county blade and standard blade. There are several size options for both, so riders get the right size for their vehicle and for the task at hand.
Moose Utility Division also has push tube mounting systems, like the RM5 mounting plates and frames, that pair perfectly with its plow blades. The RM5 rapid-mount plow system has a pull-pin design that makes mounting and removing the plow blade easy. The thick, sturdy steel push tube means it is extremely durable and capable.
Plows are all about getting snow off the path, while winches are all about getting vehicles back onto it. Getting stuck in snow or ice is a common challenge during the winter months, and it’s important for riders to be prepared, just in case. Moose Utility Division has plenty of options, with both VRX by Warn and Moose Aggro winches. Both styles are available with different load capacities, ranging from 2,500 pounds to 4,500 pounds, and customers can choose from either a steel rope or a synthetic rope. Like the snowplows, the winch options allow customers to pick the right tool for the job. Powder coating on the outside and complete waterproof sealing on the inside keep winches like the WARN VRX 45 well protected from the weather, mud and other elements.
Moose Utility Division includes mounting plates with each of its winches, though mounting kits are also available separately. There are mounting plates available for a long list of ATV and UTV models, plus accessories like cable stops and a snow plow strap.
Getting through snowy terrain is a lot easier with tire chains, and Moose Utility Division has four different sizes available to accommodate virtually any ATV or UTV. The V-bar chains store neatly in a toolbox-style case when the weather is warm, then they mount easily when the time is right for them. The V-bar styling of the chains helps tires maintain grip in snow and ice, and they increase a vehicle’s pulling capacity. ■

Performance Pistons Parts for Refreshing That Sled
Pistons wear out. That’s a fact, and when it’s time to replace pistons in 2-stroke snowmobile engines, many service technicians reach for Wiseco forged pistons. This is for good reason –forged pistons are strong and durable.
Here’s why Wiseco forged pistons are so durable: Foremost, the forging process allows for improved and uniform alloy grain flow throughout the shape of each piston, increasing its tensile strength and durability. This structural gain is especially important taking into account the heavy loads that snowmobile engines experience when plying backwoods trails.
But, Wiseco gives their forged pistons more, much more. Wiseco snowmobile pistons’ crowns are hard anodized to protect the surface from excessive heat and detonation. Wiseco’s hard anodizing also helps eliminate the chance of ring micro welding, a power-robbing problem other wise associated with high-heat combustion conditions.
Furthermore, the piston’s wrist pin bore is hard anodized to increase service life and to help prevent wear to the wrist

pin. Wiseco also applies its proprietary ArmorGlide skirt coating to the piston skirts to reduce friction for improved performance and extended piston and cylinder life overall.
Wiseco piston kits are available for popular Polaris, SkiDoo and Yamaha snowmobiles. Single piston kits include a piston, rings, wrist pin and circlips. Complete top-end kits are also available for specific applications and include the above components as well as top-end bearings and a top-end gasket kit, all for one part number. ■

Set for Sledding Piston Kits for Popular Snowmobiles
ProX offers a complete line of 2-stroke piston kits for a range of popular snowmobiles.
As the winter season approaches, no snowmobiler likes to be caught with their engine down. To the rescue comes ProX with a wealth of replacement pistons for 2-stroke engines that might have scuffed, worn or just plain old tired pistons from the previous season. ProX specializes in new 2-stroke pistons that fit Polaris, Ski-Doo and others.
ProX 2-stroke pistons are cast manufactured by leading OEM suppliers, using a proprietary alloy that keeps heat-induced expansion to a minimum. This is ideal for maintaining
proper piston clearances in the harsh environments in which snowmobile pistons operate. Piston skirt stability is considered, too, for minimal piston-to-cylinder wall clearance that’s so crucial for consistent ring seal.
In addition, each piston’s crown, top ring land and top ring groove is hard anodized to help protect from potential damage of excessive heat and detonation, along with preventing ring micro-welding.
ProX snowmobile piston skirts are treated with MOS2 coat ing for improved break-in and shielding against scuffing and cylinder wear. Improving upon original designs, some OEM single-ring applications are reconfigured for two rings to further improve compression and heat dissipation.
All ProX replacement pistons are available in stock bore and oversize options. Kits include a piston, rings, clips, pin and top-end bearing – a setup that offers a complete and straightforward drop-in installation. ■

Victories in the Making Championship-Winning Clutch Technology
Since 2016, Star Yamaha Racing has equipped its Supercross machines with Rekluse clutch systems. The partnership has yielded a lot of race wins over the years, but the 2022 sea son was something special. The Star team secured two championships – a premier-class title in 450SX with Eli Tomac on his TorqDrive-equipped YZ450F, and a 250SX #1 plate with Christian Craig aboard his YZ250F. Rekluse’s TorqDrive friction-disc technology contributed to this historic success by providing Tomac and Craig with the consistent and controllable power transfer they needed. That same technology is available for your customers’ bikes. Installing a TorqDrive clutch is as easy as swapping out the clutch pack. The system’s thinner clutch plates allow more disks to fit in the OEM clutch’s footprint, decreasing slip, improving torque transfer, and virtually eliminating
clutch fade. TorqDrive clutches are also more durable, and applicable models come with basket sleeves that save the basket tangs from notching and wear. Rekluse also offers billet clutch baskets to further optimize clutch performance and modulation. That’s what Craig used on his YZ250F this past season, and the results speak for themselves.
Clutch baskets are available for many popular models and feature a hard-anodized construction and tightly controlled tolerances that yields smoother operation.
Whether your customers are in need of a new clutch pack or eager to upgrade their entire clutch, Rekluse has the race-winning components they need. Parts Unlimited carries the same Rekluse parts the Star Yamaha team trusts, as well as clutch packs, baskets, and other components for many popular models. ■
