What a finale that was for the 2023 Supercross/Motocross season at the LA Coliseum! Officially named the SuperMotocross World Championship, it was an up and down season for many riders – some literally – who had to sit out some races recovering from injuries. THOR-sponsored Cooper Webb was one such rider who was out in the latter part of the year, but he got back in action in time to finish 3rd overall in the 450 class for the season. He missed some races, but don’t feel too bad for him; he still took home $200,000 from the last race.

The big news, however, was made in the 250cc class by 17-year-old rookie Haiden Deegan. The THOR-clad racer just joined the Star Racing team this year and quickly established himself as a contender in the 250 class. The highlight of his season prior to the SMX finale came at the Washougal, Washington motocross National where he won both motos to take the overall victory.

While that overall victory in motocross was not easy to come by, all of his prior success was overshadowed by his victory in Los Angeles on September 23rd. The outcome of the final playoff result was not settled yet even after the first moto, but the kid they call “Danger Boy” took control and came away with the points needed to become the first-ever SMX 250 SuperMotocross World Champion. Deegan took home the $500,000 prize that was up for grabs.

Congratulations to Haiden Deegan and his Star Racing Yamaha teammates for their great performances in Los Angeles. In the final moto, the top three finishers were THORsponsored Levi Kitchen, Haiden Deegan and Justin Cooper.

We’ll have more about the SuperMotocross finale in our next issue. Meanwhile, we have a full report starting on page 28 in this issue from Parts Unlimited’s North American NVP convention in Madison, Wisconsin. The event was well attended, as always. Attendance has been so good, in fact, that LeMans Corporation announced that the event will move next year to a larger facility in Milwaukee. More about that in the months ahead.

Be sure to also check out the feature stories about the recent Kurt Caselli Fundraiser, an event we continue to support in memory of the late, great racing champion. We also have coverage of the recent mega-motocross action at Loretta Lynn’s, updates on our THOR and Moose Racing offroad racers, a profile on Royal Enfield BTR roadracer Mikayla Moore, and with winter just around the corner, a first look at the upcoming snowmobile season. ■

THOR/Yamaha’s Haiden Deegan is the 250SMX World Champion

SUPERMOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS – SEPTEMBER 23, 2023 Photos courtesy of Yamaha

After a full season of Supercross and Pro Motocross, the final round of the three-race SuperMotocross playoffs landed at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum with a show that thrilled fans in person at the historic venue, and across the world.

And, in the 250SMX class, THOR/Star Racing Yamaha rider Haiden Deegan clocked in with a decisive performance that not only netted him a $500,000 purse, but the first-ever 250SMX SuperMotocross Championship.

Overall, it was a great night of racing for the THOR/Star Racing Yamaha 250 squad. In the second 250 Class moto, Deegan was the first to pass the holeshot stripe but his teammate Levi Kitchen took over the lead before the second corner.

Kitchen led Deegan, and another teammate, Justin Cooper, until just before the midpoint of the race when Deegan signaled that he was making a move on Kitchen, but after nearly falling in a turn appeared to settle into second and prepare for a possible late-race battle.

At the checkered flag Kitchen took the moto win. Deegan earned second in the moto, with Cooper in third. In that moto, Deegan scored enough points to win the overall for the event and, more significantly, win the 250 Class SuperMotocross World Championship. ■

Mees Adds to His Legend with Ninth Grand National Championship

Drag Specialties/Parts Unlimited/Indian’s Jared Mees secured a third consecutive Grand National Championship at the season-ending Mission Springfield Mile II presented by Drag Specialties. That achievement at the Illinois State Fairgrounds notched Mees’ ninth Grand National Championship. It also strengthened his case for consideration as the greatest rider in the history of Progressive American Flat Track.

Despite having been pitted against multiple generations of dirt track titans over the past two decades – from Chris Carr, Kenny Coolbeth and Jake Johnson to Brad Baker, Bryan Smith

and Briar Bauman – Mees has stacked up a résumé that stands alongside any previously assembled in the 70-year history of the championship. The factory Indian superstar now boasts an incredible nine Grand National Championships (2009, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022, and 2023), equaling the great Scott Parker for most all time.

“It’s what you wake up for every day. It’s what you train for. Hats off to Scottie Parker – that’s the guy that keeps me going,” Mees said. “He kept me going year after year, race after race. He’s still the best in my book, and it’s an honor to match something that he did.” ■

NINTH ANNUAL KURT CASELLI FOUNDATION MOTODOFFO FUNDRAISER

all

To see the kind of lasting impact the late Kurt Caselli had on the motorcycling world, one only needed to survey the turnout for the annual fundraiser held in his honor each June at the Doffo Winery in Temecula, California.

Ranging from family members and fellow racers to longtime friends, fans, and enthusiasts, the crowd was all gathered for the same purpose – to honor the memory of the legendary off-road racer. Marking a decade since Caselli tragically died in a racing accident at the 2013 Baja 1000 in Mexico, the 9th annual Kurt Caselli Foundation MotoDoffo Fundraiser kicked off in spectacular fashion.

It was a day of camaraderie, entertainment, food, beverages and raising money for the Foundation, the mission of which is to protect and support the lives of off-road riders. The foundation also provides educational scholarships to racers who are enrolled at an accredited college or trade school. Friends, family members and industry notables formed the Foundation to honor the life of the three-time AMA Hare & Hound National Champion and three-time WORCS Champion. Kurt also won multiple ISDE Gold Medals and was Captain of the USA ISDE Trophy Team.

The Caselli Foundation raises funds through donations, sponsorships, merchandise sales, and events such as the annual fundraiser. Attendees in June got the chance to check out the 2024 KTM 500 EXC-F that was donated by KTM

Looking Ahead 2024 Racewear and Rider Protection

Look ahead. This is advice commonly offered for motorcycle riding technique, helping riders read the terrain and obstacles that are coming so they can best set up their strategy to tackle them. THOR MX has adopted the ‘look ahead’ slogan not just for riders, but in understanding the needs and demands riders will have for racewear and riding equipment.

Commitment to designing and supplying the next generation of racewear for riders is not a new concept for THOR. In fact, the idea has been the backbone of the gear THOR produces for so long that it’s engrained in the brand’s culture. However, THOR possesses a unique advantage to be able to tap into its `experience in the history of motocross to better understand the future.

The ability to narrow down the specifics of constantly evolving riding demands through experience, first-hand knowledge and research from resources like professional riders is a strong suit of THOR’s. This strength is reflected in many items from THOR’s head-to-toe range of rider equipment, including its premium Prime racewear and Sector 2 helmets.

RACEWEAR

Competing at the professional level in motocross, whether it be Supercross or motocross, is one of the most demanding levels of racing there is. Competition is fierce, and if even a sliver is given up, someone will be there to capitalize on it. THOR understands that fine tuning at this level of racing can be a game of millimeters, which is why the THOR team pulls out every stop – and then some –with its Prime racewear line.

Prime has long been THOR’s flagship, race-focused line of jersey and pants duos developed, tweaked, and tailored over many seasons of working with top athletes. For 2024, THOR is proud to present its new Race Spec waistline sizing options available with Prime pants. Race Spec sizing means odd sizes are offered in addition to traditional even sizes, helping riders narrow down their most precise Prime fit yet.

Prime pants’ new fit options are complemented by elevated construction and flexibility of the Prime collection. The bulk of the pants feature THOR’s nylon InMotion fabric that simultaneously provides mobility and durability, ultimately shaping a pre-curved chassis design that follows the natural lines of the rider’s active position.

Prime racewear

Comfort and fit of Prime pants continue to be prioritized with an athletic mesh liner, laser-cut ventilation holes and vented panels. The even-more-precise waistlines are also equipped with a sidecinch system, adding extra insurance so riders can focus on the track ahead of them and not worry about gear mishaps.

Prime jerseys are designed to carry that momentum with an overall shape that naturally follows riders’ bodies and encourages free flowing movement, a crucial characteristic when wrestling a 200-plus pound motorcycle around a motocross track.

This function is accomplished with many key design characteristics, including tailored sleeves, airflow perforation, taped cuffs and more. Riders will find the highly detailed nature of Prime jerseys creates an ultimate package of performance they might not have thought possible from a jersey.

While fit and function are vital, riders also want gear that looks great on and off the bike. Two different styles are available for 2024 in a total of seven different colorways. The designs play on THOR’s heritage while also reflecting the elite construction they possess. From neutral combinations to blues to oranges, Prime 2024 has something for every rider on your customer list.

HELMETS

What is the first piece of safety equipment most riders were taught to always wear as kids learning to ride? That’s right, a helmet. For 2024, THOR has built upon its solid foundation of helmets with a new generation that delivers high-end qualities and style without the high-end price tag.

Sector 2 helmets from THOR are designed and built to house a robust package of features with modern styling and affordable functionality. On the outside, an injection molded polycarbonate/ABS shell provides the first layer of durable impact protection.

Next, customers will find a dual-density EPS liner that helps Sector 2 helmets achieve DOT and ECE safety requirements and features venting to combat sweat. This is completed with a removable and washable moisture wicking comfort liner, making clean-up and maintenance easy on Sector 2 users.

Function for riders is continued with a fully adjustable visor that’s also vented, reducing the helmets’ natural desire to lift with wind resistance. Plus, THOR designers shaped the rear shell of Sector 2 helmets to allow for easy and secure repositioning of goggle straps, eliminating what can quickly become a pain point for riders.

Topping it all off, these new helmets from THOR are available in nine different style options featuring everything from simplistic to sleek graphics, colors to complement Prime racewear and matte and gloss finishes. ■

COOLER DAYS PREVAIL

MOOSE RACING AND THOR RIDERS HEAT UP AFTER SUMMER HIATUS

When it comes to off-road racing, the summer months offer as much of an off-season as racers get, and it’s only when temperatures cool down that the season heats back up. Following the summer break, THOR and Moose Racing athletes are back at it, winning races and clinching championships with still several more months of competition to play out.

In the first Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) round following the summer break, AmPro Yamaha’s Rachael Archer soared to her seventh GNCC win of the year to wrap up the WXC championship with two rounds still remaining. The muddy Mountaineer GNCC left riders nearly unrecognizable, but Moose Racing-backed Archer forged tirelessly through the quagmire to the class win and the 2023 title, her second of the year after claiming the U.S. Sprint Enduro Championship before the summer break.

“Absolutely stoked with my 2023 season,” Archer exclaimed. “Two championships this year and my worst result being a second place; doesn’t get much better than that!”

THOR-backed rider Trystan Hart of the FMF KTM Factory Racing Team celebrated some wins and milestones during the light months of summer, starting with a career-first podium finish at the world famous Romaniacs Hard Enduro. His second-place finish at round three of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship placed the Canadian second in points, a position he hopes to regain before the close of the season. Hart improved on his performance at the Tennessee Hard Enduro, claiming the overall win ahead of Billy Bolt and Manuel Lettenbichler. The TKO, as it is more commonly known, drew world-class talent to the 2023 event, even though it is not officially on the FIM World Championship calendar this year. Nonetheless, the AMA Extreme

Off-Road Grand Championship honors proved to be a significant victory for Hart, who was thrilled to best the international field. With two rounds still remaining, Hart is hungrier than ever to close out a strong season.

In more world championship contention, THOR athlete Johnny Girroir emerged victorious after three days of competition at the Sprint Enduro World Championship. After eight tests each day over the three-day Labor Day weekend, Girroir won by a scant 15-second margin.

Moose Racing/GASGAS rider Rachel Gutish was riding a high after a dominant win at the Rattlesnake National Enduro in Pennsylvania, where she bested the women’s pro class with five out of five test wins, a feat she has not pulled off since 2019.

SEASON LAUNCH!

2023 NORTH AMERICAN NVP PRODUCT EXPO

MADISON, WISCONSIN – AUGUST 19-20

For many in the Parts Unlimited world, the Monona Terrace cuts a familiar figure across the shoreline of Lake Monona in Madison, Wisconsin. After all, the striking Frank Lloyd Wright-designed convention space has served as home to the LeMans Corporation’s heralded fall sales show for about two decades.

And, once again, that iconic locale was the epicenter of the powersports aftermarket when the 2023 version of the North American NVP Product Expo opened its doors to dealers and reps from Parts Unlimited, Drag Specialties and Parts Canada for two busy days in August.

As in past years, the show offered the opportunity to get an up-close-and-personal look at the exciting new parts, accessories and apparel coming from a big lineup of popular vendors in the Parts Unlimited catalogs. Not only does the show offer hands-on experiences, it also features a number of educational opportunities from some of those same vendors.

“The 2023 Madison North American NVP was a huge success, with dealers, reps, and vendors giving it positive feedback,” said LeMans Corporation CEO Paul Langley. “The weather for the Saturday evening Meet & Greet / Bike show was ideal, and we had a full house.”

LeMans’ growing E-Bike business also got a boost with the introduction of the new iGO Electric seven-model lineup. The new range of E-Bikes joins the rapidly expanding Bicycle catalog alongside the full suspension INTENSE Tazer MX range, and a big selection of parts, accessories and apparel. The growing lineup of E-Bike products joined the massive range of powersports products spread across two show spaces on two floors of the convention center.

As much as the show is about new products, it’s also about meeting old friends, making new ones and nurturing the kind of relationships that stretch across decades. To that end, the popular Michelin Jam returned to the Majestic

While the show marked the annual return of Parts Unlimited and Drag Specialties dealers and sales reps, Parts Canada, dealers, reps and management, and LeMans Corporation staff and personnel to Wisconsin’s capital city, it was also something of a farewell.

“The 2023 Madison NVP in my view was a complete success,” said Parts Canada President James Danyluk. “All the Canadian dealers I talked with said it was a fantastic show and well worth it to come. A fitting way to close out the Madison venue.”

This marked the last year the NVP would be held in Madison at the Monona Terrace, as the fall show is moving to Milwaukee in September 2024. It will be taking place at the city’s newly expanded Baird Center convention space.

“Although many participants have cherished the Madison expo for many years, we have simply outgrown all available floor space and downtown hotel room capacity,” Langley said. “Therefore, we are excited to announce that the 2024 North American NVP will move to the newly renovated Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with the preferable dates of September 7-8, 2024.”

Milwaukee will be a great backdrop for the next North American NVP and will bring more than triple the floor space allowing for more vendors and larger exhibits making this the largest footprint yet for the NVP Product Expo.

All Systems Go Additives for Optimal Performance

For riders in many parts of North America, this is the time of year when bikes aren’t coming out of the garage as often, and some are even heading into winter storage. After the summer riding season, bikes deserve a little pampering to keep engines running at optimal levels, and LIQUI MOLY has the products for it. Even with regular oil changes, the oil system can still get gummed up from sludge and deposits. LIQUI MOLY’S Motorbike Engine Flush is an efficient way to loosen things up, so when the used oil is drained, the sludge and deposits go right out with it. That way, the new oil goes into a freshly cleaned oil system, so it can provide top performance.

MOTORBIKE ENGINE FLUSH

For smaller 4-stroke engines with oil systems of up to 2 liters, the Motorbike Engine Flush Shooter is a perfectly sized dose of cleaning fluid. Add the entire can to the oil for exactly the right amount of cleaning agent. The oil system isn’t the only place where buildup occurs. The fuel system needs regular care, too. The Motorbike 4T Bike Additive for 4-stroke engines removes deposits from the fuel system, valves, spark plugs and combustion chamber. Even better, this additive helps prevent new deposits from forming.

MOTORBIKE 4T BIKE ADDITIVE

LIQUI MOLY’s Motorbike Speed Additive is for both 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines, and it is designed to do exactly what its name says. Adding this effective formula can result in a higher power output and enhanced acceleration. The additive does this by cleaning the fuel system and optimizing fuel combustion. Fuel systems will be more reliable and more effective with the Motorbike Speed Additive.

MOTORBIKE SPEED ADDITIVE

Cooling systems can suffer from buildup, too, especially in the form of oils and lime deposits. To keep cooling systems doing what they do best, the LIQUI MOLY Motorbike Radiator Cleaner removes those harmful deposits and neutralizes acids. It’s compatible with antifreeze, and it won’t harm seals or rubber components. The Motorbike Radiator Cleaner should be added before the coolant is changed to provide a thorough flush of the system. Cooling systems will work more efficiently, which of course keeps engines running at their optimal temperature.

MOTORBIKE RADIATOR CLEANER

For bikes and vehicles heading into winter storage, a dose of the LIQUI MOLY Motorbike Gasoline Stabilizer preserves and protects fuel from aging and oxidation. Designed for all 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines, including carbureted and fuel injected, this stabilizer will prevent corrosion throughout the entire fuel system. When the spring weather arrives, the bike will start up without a problem. ■

Dressing for the Weather Waterproof Gear

for Rainy Days

armor can be found in the elbows, shoulders and back, while the overpants have D3O knee impact protectors. When it’s cold and rainy, an insulated vest liner in the PDX3 jacket adds warmth. When it’s hot and rainy, the liner zips out. Oversized underarm zippers can be adjusted to keep air flowing, and there is a hood stowed in the collar.

The PDX3 overpants have full-length inseam zippers to make getting them off and on over regular pants a breeze. Reflective trim helps with visibility.

No one wants to ride with wet hands, and the PDX3 gloves make sure that never has to happen. The waterproof but breathable Hipora lining moves easily so hands won’t feel stiff. Outside, the backhand is made from a four-way stretch nylon for easy movement, while the Ax Laredo palm has leather-like looks and durability. A D3O knuckle insert tops off the package.

Rainy season is on its way in many parts of North America, but that doesn’t mean the riding has to stop. ICON is born and bred and Portland, Oregon, where it typically rains 164 days a year. Not surprisingly, the company has a full lineup of waterproof options to make sure riders arrive at their destination warm and dry.

The PDX3 collection of waterproof gear includes a jacket, overpants and gloves, which are all CE certified. The jacket and overpants are both constructed from fully taped waterproof, breathable Hycor material. In the jacket, D3O

ICON also has four different waterproof boot designs, letting riders stay dry without sacrificing their personal taste. The CE-certified Patrol3 WP boots look like a pair of sneakers at a glance. Both their styling and the Patrol name are classic ICON, and these have the added bonus of a waterproof lining. The TechTuff leather upper has a polyturethane coating to keep the leather protected from the wet, too. D3O ankle inserts guard against the asphalt, and the BOA lacing system ensures a perfect fit without the fear of loose laces.

Ideal for Adventure riders, the Alcan WP boots have a taller profile that hits mid-calf. These CE-certified boots include a wraparound D3O ankle insert, a BOA lacing system and a waterproof liner. The TechTuff leather upper is paired with a stretch fabric on the back of the ankle for riding and walking comfort.

The Slabtown WP boots combine street-boot looks with MX-style buckles. Inside the CE-certified boots, there’s a waterproof, breathable lining and D3O ankle inserts. The top of the ankle is lined with neoprene and padding, which offers a soft, flexible fit.

Mixing casual, work-boot styling with motorcycle gear musts, the Stormhawk boot has a premium leather upper with a water-resistant finish. Inside, the eVent liner is waterproof and breathable. Everything cinches in place with the BOA lacing system, and D3O ankle inserts add a layer of defense. ■

Maxima’s Contact Cleaner

Brand Loyalty An Aerosol for Every Purpose

Marty’s trusty old KTM XC-W needs a top end, but the motor is way too dirty to tear into. Luckily, Marty has CleanUP, Maxima’s “power washer in a can.” This potent formula loosens thick grime and baked-on crud. It’s safe on plastics and rubber and rinses off with water, helping decontaminate the old KTM before Marty dives in.

Post wash, there’s water lingering in nooks and crannies. Marty reaches for his can of MPPL (Multi-Purpose Penetrating Lube) to displace moisture from the kickstarter, sidestand, chain and lever pivots. The residual oil lubricates the pivots and helps shield against rust and corrosion. MPPL’s penetrating nature also makes it great for stubborn nuts and bolts – like the XC-W’s stud nuts.

With a fresh piston in, Marty checks the weather and sees that the rain is supposed to last all weekend, so he turns back to the bike. The fork tubes come out of the triple and apart on the bench, where Maxima’s Suspension Clean makes the parts look sterile. Suspension Clean’s proprietary formulation combines industrial-strength cleaners with a powerful spray to ensure maximum cleanliness, while leaving a dry and residue-free surface.

Suspension Clean from Maxima helps keeps things neat and tidy when doing suspension work.

With the front end back on the bike, Marty recalls that the headlight switch was acting up the last time he got caught out after dark. Reaching for his can of Contact Cleaner, Marty goes through all the bike’s electrical connectors, using the special non-corrosion, non-staining formula to purge the connectors of contaminants. A quick pull on the plunger showed that Contact Cleaner did the trick. Let there be light!

Marty’s friends always say how great his KTM looks, even though it’s a decade old. Reaching into the cabinet, Marty pulls out the secret. Maxima’s SC1, aka, “new bike in a can.” Rich in glossy, protective magic, SC1 revives the plastics and carbon-fiber accessories on Marty’s bike.

As a final preparation, Marty sprays his favorite helmet with Maxima’s Speed Wax. This professional-grade detailer conditions and polishes, and incorporates carnauba wax for long-lasting shine. It works great on painted surfaces as well as chrome and Lexan.

We all know customers who insist on gas from a specific station or swear by a certain brand of helmet. They’re brand loyalists, and every company has them. Maxima certainly does. And, with a full catalog of cleaners, lubricants and chemicals, any customer who wants to be loyal has it easy.

Let’s see how one committed client, we’ll call him Marty Maxima, has managed to outfit his garage’s aerosol cabinet exclusively with Maxima products.

All that work, and we only covered Marty’s aerosol cabinet. He also prepped the piston and cylinder with Castor 927, filled the trans with MTL Fluid, topped off the radiator with Cool Aid, filled the fork with 10-weight, and hit the chain with Chain Wax. Marty is as Maxxis loyal as they come. ■

2022-2023 SNOWMOBILE

CATERING TO YOUR SN W ENTHUSIASTS

With more than 10,000 miles of snowmobile trails, New York State is an active winter playground for sledders throughout the Northeast. Until it’s not. The 2022-23 winter season mostly skipped New England; trail-covering snow didn’t fall until the end of February, meaning a tough sales season.

From the Mississippi River west, however, record snowfall piled up. That brought snowmobile buyers to dealers, and east-coast riders to the West and Midwest. Where measurable snow lacked in the east, trucks and trailers came to the rescue. Even more so than Harley-Davidson owners trailering to Sturgis or Daytona Bike Week, snowmobile enthusiasts are the champs of trailering their vehicles, whether for single-day outings or week-long adventures.

PAST IS PREDICTIVE

For the model year 2023 season, new snowmobile sales in the U.S. totaled 53,553 units, according to the International Snowmobile Manufacturer’s Association (ISMA). That’s off half a percent from the previous year, and in line with total unit sales for the last 10 years. In 2023, the Midwest accounted for 41 percent of sales, the West 35

percent and the East 24 percent, ISMA reported. While snowmobile unit sales were off for dealers back East, many were able to transfer vehicles to dealer locations that had snow and sales demand.

Canadian snowmobilers purchased roughly 48,000 new sleds in 2023. That’s a bit under 2022 numbers, but the last 10 years of unit sales have been plus or minus five percent of mark.

While these are not large sales numbers, snowmobile dealers and trailside economies benefit from active spending habits of snowmobile enthusiasts. Snowmobilers spend an average of $2,500 each year enjoying their sleds, according to ISMA. They spend on gasoline, of course, as well as food and lodging when they travel. And, roughly 50 percent of them do, travel that is, trailering their snowmobile to favorite riding areas.

To further prove this is an enthusiastic group, ISMA data shows that 82 percent of snowmobilers own two sleds, and 47 percent own three. Some of these are vintage machines that might not see a lot of trail time, but ISMA reports that even the third sled in the family burns a few tanks of gas, about 400 miles a year worth. They are club members, active riders, and committed to investing in their rides.

2023 SNOW MARKET 48 PARTS MAGAZINE ★ NOVEMBER 2023 MARKET REPORT

KNOW YOUR CUSTOMERS

As long as some parts of the U.S. and Canada receive decent snowfall, snowmobilers will ride, and dealers should be prepared to serve their needs. Dealers might not sell petrol or trail-side snacks, but they should be ready with apparel and riding gear.

“For us, it’s all about wearables,” said Jay Savignac, brand manager for Arctiva. “The Z1R Solaris Modular helmet has been killing it for versatility and fit. We’ve upgraded with the quick-release chin strap, and we keep working on improvements for the coming year.”

An enthusiastic trail rider himself, Savignac knows the lifestyle and spending habits of today’s snowmobile owner. “Dealers have an opportunity to continue educating riders about clothing,” he said. “They need to know the riding style of the snowmobiler. We target trail riders, and my biggest pitch is to start with the base layer. No jeans or cotton tees or hoodies. Wear the same synthetics that football players wear.”

On the apparel side, Arctiva has weekend warrior customers covered with the necessary trail gear that will keep them warm. “We built the Pivot jacket,” said Savignac, “and it’s simple, lightweight, and low cost. It’s not feature-rich apparel, but it’s functional and affordable.” He also points to the Advance Boots that Arctiva introduced two years ago, with soles made for walking

as much as riding, and removable liners and insoles. “Our Meridian gloves are super warm, affordable, and well-suited to active riding,” Savignac added.

For mountain-riding enthusiasts, the materials and layers get more complex. “Riding in the mountains requires a more active style,” Savignac said, “which creates more body heat, which means more clothing changes mid-ride.” And remember that sledheads in the Midwest and East often trailer to the mountains, and we’re back to “know the riding style of the snowmobiler” so you can serve them well.

GROW THE SPORT

While the snowmobile industry’s customer base is aging – the average age is 54 – there are signs of younger and more diverse buyers. Snowmobile design improvements are a big reason why. Starting in the early 2000s, snowmobile engineers crafted machines for better handling and more comfort than the machines those 54-year-olds grew up riding.

And, while manufacturers continue to make snowmobiles lighter and more powerful, they also make the machines easier to control and to slow down. That will continue to appeal to a younger audience. ■

» ISMA, the industry association, has created tools to help dealers promote the sport, including two websites: www.snowmobile.org and www.gosnowmobiling.org.

Snow Runner A Drive Chain Built for Winter

For many parts of the United States, when winter arrives all of your customers’ motorcycles go into the garage awaiting warmer riding weather.

However, snow bike conversion systems like those offered by Mototrax allows riders to convert their two wheeled motorcycles into snowdrift carving machines. It’s a perfect cure for dealing with the downtime between “riding” seasons!

RK’s GB520MXU narrow-clearance sealed chain is ideal to power these snow conversions kits. Now your customers can use a great, high-quality product whether riding in the dirt or snow. From professional elite teams to the weekend warriors, racers and snow riders can rely on RK and Excel’s strength, reliability and quality.

RK 520MXU

Extreme elements call for extreme chains. When conditions turn muddy, snowy, sandy or wet, or if riders just want a chain that provides consistent horsepower delivery from the start of a race to the end, RK offers a sealed Supercross, motocross and off-road racing chain called MXU.

RK’s GB520MXU features ultra-thin UW-seals, which are perfect for bikes with narrow clearance. It delivers triple the life expectancy when compared to a non-sealed chain.

RK’s UW-Ring seals utilize triple barrier grease protection plus anti-debris technology.

That anti-debris protection is vitally important to maximize chain wear life by eliminating debris friction between internal components. RK’s UW seals also feature small contact points to reduce cold start drag. The UW ring thickness is more than 50 percent thinner than O-rings.

RK’s GB520MXU has a maximum tensile strength of 8,000foot pounds and weighs just over 3 pounds per 100 links making MXU an extremely light sealed off-road chain. The MXU chain features RK’s exclusive 1-year off-road warranty.

No matter what type of riding your customers enjoy, from snowy landscapes and motocross to Supercross and offroad, RK Chain has a product that suits their needs. ■

Anodized and Amazing Extra-Tough Snowmobile Pistons

Direct injection, forced induction, and other performance-boosting technologies make today’s snowmobiles more powerful and exciting than ever. The big power of 800 and 850 sleds takes your customers down the trail faster and gets them up steeper hills, but it also puts more wear and tear on engine parts. The pistons in particular take a beating, which is why Wössner spent the off season developing new, ultra-durable anodized pistons for select snowmobiles.

The Polaris 600, 650, 800 and 850 platforms as well as the Ski Doo 600, 800 and 850 platforms can now benefit from the enhanced durability and performance of Wössner’s new anodized pistons. These slugs undergo an extra step in the production process that imbues the piston crown and ring lands with a molecularly enhanced surface that can handle more heat and punishment than untreated aluminum. The result is a more durable piston that can produce better power for longer.

Wössner’s pistons are built on a foundation of strength. Forged from 4032 aluminum, these German-designed snowmobile pistons are already made to be structurally and thermally tough. This new hardcoat anodizing ups the piston’s durability by improving its ability to handle heat, pressure and wear.

The hardcoat anodize treatment is applied to the piston crowns and ring lands, two areas that are exposed to extreme temperatures and pressures. The coating has been shown to increase the piston crown’s thermal diffusivity by up to 10 percent, and the inert boundary layer of the anodizing allows the piston to handle spikes up to 3,600 degrees Fahrenheit for brief periods. Modern EFI snowmobile engines tend to run hot, so this added protection is important.

Farther down the piston body, hard-anodized ring lands improve durability thanks to the hardcoat’s ability to handle additional sliding wear compared to untreated aluminum. By retaining a smoother land surface, oil retention is improved, ring wear is reduced, and most importantly, micro-welding is prevented.

Ring micro-welding is when aluminum transfers from the ring groove to the ring, due to intense pressure and heat. When micro-welding takes place, the ring is prevented from moving freely, and that prevents it from effectively sealing combustion. Micro-welding is eliminated when the ring groove is treated with hardcoat anodize, providing an environment where the ring can operate properly under extreme conditions.

This new hard-coat anodizing treatment is in addition to Wössner’s other proven technologies, including piston-skirt coating and a dual-ring design on certain applications. A permanent lubricating film appears on the piston skirt, and helps reduce friction and piston rock for quieter operation and improved performance, while dual-rings help prevent ring overheating and offer extended service intervals.

Modern snowmobiles are amazing, and they deserve modern piston technology. Wössner’s replacement pistons are made from high-quality materials and incorporate features that help ensure your customers’ sleds perform their best for as long as possible. ■

Upgraded Piston Kits

New Slugs for Newer Sleds

2017 and newer sleds ProX now covers. As with ProX’s other replacement parts, these piston kits are loaded up with a lot of technology and features.

ProX has upgraded pistons for popular snowmobiles from Arctic Cat, Lynx, Polaris and Ski-Doo.

Whether it’s preseason prep or a mid-season repair, ProX snowmobile piston kits bridge the gap between OE quality and affordability. ProX pistons are feature-packed and designed with performance and durability in mind, and now they’re available for even more late model Arctic Cat, Lynx, Polaris and Ski-Doo models.

Popular models like the Arctic Cat 6000s and 8000s, Polaris 850s, Ski-Doo 600 and Ski-Doo 850 are just some of the

ProX manufactures using a hypereutectic alloy to control thermal expansion in the cylinder, and hard-anodizing on the piston crown and ring lands strengthens the areas of the piston most susceptible to damage. Speaking of rings, ProX is offering dual-ring pistons for some Lynx, Polaris, and Ski-Doo applications where the OEM design is single ring. A second ring means better sealing and durability for snappier performance and a longer service life.

Another appealing feature that improves durability is a MOS2 coating on the piston skirts. This sacrificial lubricating layer expedites break-in and helps reduce piston and cylinder wear. As with previous kits, these new late-model applications come with the piston, rings, clips, wrist pin, and small-end bearing, all under one part number. ■

MORE THAN A PERFECT SEASON

ROYAL ENFIELD BTR CHAMPION MIKAYLA MOORE

Ididn’t have any goal as far as being undefeated for the season,” said Mikayla Moore of the 2023 Royal Enfield Build. Train. Race. season. “My main goal was always to have fun and to progress every time.”

The poised and talkative 19-year-old seems practiced in her interview skills, surpassing even an expectation of someone who has graced the top of the podium as many times as she has. She glows with excitement when she talks about her 2023 season, yet she’d rather tell you about helping out friends in the BTR program, chatting with spectators, and the sense of community in the MotoAmerica paddock than her actual race wins. And what a record of race wins she had – a perfect season across seven race and the BTR Championship.

Mikayla started racing when she was 7-years-old and has grown up around two wheels working in her dad's motorcycle shop. "For me, working on bikes ... that's what I really enjoy doing.

“Winning my first MotoAmerica race, that was something that had always been a dream for me, but the dream was really to be in the MotoAmerica space. So, to actually win a race, that just sealed the deal from the start of the season,” said Moore of her win at the opening round of the BTR season at Road America.

The Royal Enfield BTR program, now a staple in both the MotoAmerica and American Flat Track paddocks, guides a field of selected women through the process of building race bikes out of Royal Enfield 650 motorcycles, sharpening their race skills in pre-season training seminars, and then racing a series of select exhibitions within each championship. Parts Unlimited is a sponsor of the series. The BTR program was originally designed for beginners, but in recent seasons opened applications to experienced female racers, which is when Moore took an interest. Moore’s love of racing reaches back to 2011 when she was 7-years-old, and competed in her first race aboard a TT-R50 dirtbike. She went on to race in various Mini Moto and MiniGP organizations with wins and titles along the way. She eventually got her AMA roadracing license in 2017. Moore recently competed as an expert in the Championship Cup Series in the ASRA before joining the Royal Enfield BTR program for 2023.

“In 2022 I took the whole year off racing, but then also saw that they opened up Build. Train. Race. and Kayleigh [Buyck] had applied for it,” Moore said. “I’ve known Kayleigh for like five years now. So, I was following the program with her. I

talked with her, like ‘How did you like the program? What are your thoughts on it?’ She loved it and was like, ‘If you apply for it, you’ll love it.’”

Buyck was one of the stars of the 2022 BTR Road Race season, a spotlight that was quickly passed to Moore. “Coming into the season, I doubted myself a little bit, only because I took a whole year off of racing,” said Moore. “Also running a new bike, for me, [I’m not] able to adapt to bikes quickly. When I saw the Royal Enfield bikes last year at the September round in Jersey, I was like, ‘These look very different from what I’m used to riding,’ which is the Ninja 400 and the ZX6. But Kayleigh was like, ‘Girl, don’t worry about that. You’ll figure it out. If I could figure it out, you’ll figure it out as well.’” Moore was not only able to adapt quickly, but also able to use her mechanical background to help the other girls in the paddock to get comfortable on their Royal Enfield Continental GT motorcycles.

“After the first round I was able to help some of the ladies with things like gearing. I work for my dad at his motorcycle shop, and I’m always hands-on with the bikes,” she

said. “So, I was able to help some of them out with, ‘This gearing means that and this gearing means that.’ Just trying to help them figure it out. Some of them, come the last round, they were able to feel more confident working on the bikes, making changes themselves. That’s the best thing I like being about the Build. Train. Race. program, it’s a team effort. Everyone’s there for each other.”

Her other favorite part about BTR? The spectators. “Just having all the kids come up to the bikes, some of them even started them, that was a really fun experience to be part of. For me, I was one of those kids. I would get posters from the racers and the feeling that I would get when I was younger, I can understand the younger kids when they get posters from us women,” she said. “Especially the little girls. We would ask questions like, ‘Do you ride? If you do ride, like, you never know. As long as this program is still going, you could be under this tent riding this bike.’”

Moore’s exceptional season, where she not only went undefeated, but trounced the field by more than 10 seconds at every round, turned quite a few heads. What’s next for the female phenom? “I have been given the opportunity to ride in the Junior Cup for MotoAmerica for the New Jersey round. So, I’m super excited for that!” said Moore.

“Come next year, if I get invited back, I would join the BTR program again. Or if not, I would either be a mechanic or be a mentor to the new ladies,” she said. “When I suggest something and they go faster, it’s always a great feeling for me that I was able to help out that person. For me, working on bikes and just being around bikes, that’s what I really enjoy doing.” ■

The motorcycle industry and sport received some big news when it was announced in 2008 that a MotoGP race would be held at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Making that happen required no small effort or expense by the IMS ownership, primarily due to the fact that a completely new road course needed to be added to the infield of the century-old 2.5mile oval. IMS needed some financial support to make it come together, and Parts Unlimited was one of the organizations that stepped up as a sponsor.

The timing of the event was perfect for Fred Fox. After nearly a decade of planning the all-new Parts Europe distribution center in Germany, he was ready to go public with the

details. With MotoGP being the world’s premier form of motorcycle racing, Fred couldn’t have found a better event to be involved in to announce their international expansion.

Since the race was being held in the United States, Parts Unlimited became the host for a large contingent of motorcycle dealers, much like they were already doing at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix Laguna Seca, and in Supercross and Motocross.

Everything worked out great that weekend, although there were some anxious moments weather-wise as the remnants were felt from a hurricane that had held its strength all the way up to Indiana. When the checkered flag fell, the everpopular Valentino Rossi was the race winner. ■

THE FUTURE OF RACING

LORETTA LYNN’S AMA NATIONAL AMATEUR MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Parts Unlimited, Moose Racing and THOR have been a big part of Loretta Lynn’s since the beginning, and continue to sponsor and support riders.

To get to “The Ranch” riders compete in scheduled Area Qualifiers and Regional Championships. The qualifying program started in mid-February with Area Qualifiers followed by Regional Championships taking place in late May through the month of June. The National Amateur Motocross Championships at Loretta’s was held July 31st through August 5th.

For 2023, the Regional Championship format returned to its original design of two events, Amateur and Youth, that ran through the eight major geographical regions in the United States. The program took place in 30 different states throughout the country beginning with over 50 Area Qualifiers where riders must finish in the top positions listed in the supplemental rules depending on their region. After qualifying through an area, riders move onto the 15 Regional Championships that run through eight regions in the United States.

Some of the best riders in American motocross history got the attention of the factory teams by winning titles at Loretta Lynn’s. Since 1982, the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch has grown in both size and prestige. A win at “The Ranch” in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee can be an indicator of future professional success. The OEMs and their teams use the event to scout and develop new talent. As such, the event draws the best young riders around vying for a title.

Past champions of Loretta Lynn’s include some of the biggest stars in motocross and Supercross history – Ricky Carmichael, Jeff Emig, Jeremy McGrath, Travis Pastrana, Chase Sexton, James Stewart, Eli Tomac, Ryan Villopoto, and Cooper Webb – all made the pilgrimage to The Ranch early in their careers.

Another recent graduate of Loretta Lynn’s is the newly crowned 2023 250 Class SuperMotocross World Champion and THOR/ Yamaha rider Haiden Deegan. As an amateur, Deegan won seven Loretta Lynn’s Amateur Championship titles.

Area Qualifiers were held at a number of National tracks that offer amateur racers a chance to race on the same track as the professionals in the Pro Motocross Championship circuit. Just qualifying for The Ranch is an accomplishment, and dedicated groups of Parts Unlimited, Moose Racing and THOR riders accomplished this feat, with several going on to win and podium in their classes.

An Off-Road Boot Collaboration Teaming Up

Two iconic brands have joined forces for the first time, and off-road riders can get their hands on the brand-new collaboration now. The Alpinestars/Moose Racing Tech 7 off-road boots have all the great features that have made the Tech 7 Alpinestars’ best-selling off-road boots of all time, but they also have Moose Racing branding that adds a new level of style.

The Alpinestars/Moose Racing Tech 7 boots will be available in both full-size and youth/smaller rider sizes. Designated the Tech 7 and the Tech 7s, these boots are consistent with the pricing of the Alpinestars Tech 7 boots in its other colorways (in other words, the non-Moose versions).

These new boots come in sizes 5-16, while the Tech 7s go from size 2 up to 8. In addition to Moose Racing badging on the toe box and at the top of the calf, a distinctive Moose

Racing print has been added to the shin, just underneath the buckles, to give the boots a fresh new look. There are five different colorways available in the Alpinestars/Moose Racing Tech 7, so riders can show their loyalty to both brands in a color scheme that fits their gear.

It’s almost a surprise that it has taken this long for the two brands to collaborate. Both Alpinestars and Moose Racing are familiar names on off-road podiums every weekend, ranging from the amateur ranks all the way up to the highest levels of the sport.

Alpinestars has been developing footwear for motocross and off-road riders since the 1960s, and the Italian company first hit the U.S. racing scene in 1986. With a focus on innovative, high-tech design solutions for rider comfort and protection, Alpinestars quickly became a respected name in off-road gear.

FOOTWEAR
Longtime GNCC Pro ATV rider Adam McGill counts on Moose Racing gear while out ripping it up on his Honda. The new Alpinestars/ Moose Racing Tech 7 boots provide the comfort and protection riders need while riding off-road, whether it’s track, trail or dune.

Moose Racing got its start in the 1980s, but it was originally an off-road hard parts brand. A group of off-road riders got frustrated by not having the parts they felt would be ideal for their excursions, so they decided to design and make the parts themselves. That DIY attitude grew into a booming business. Later, apparel was added to the hard parts line, and Moose Racing as we know it today was born. While their origins might have been very different, Alpinestars and Moose Racing share a lot in common. One of those is a dedication to developing products that give off-road riders comfort and style coupled with features that guard against impacts and other hazards.

The Alpinestars/Moose Racing Tech 7 off-road boots are packed with that innovation Alpinestars is known for. TPU panels throughout provide an extra barrier against impacts and abrasion in strategic areas, like the shin, ankles and toes. There is also a TPU blade system at the top rear of the boot that helps with stability and resistance in an impact, but thanks to the design, it doesn’t hinder flexibility. These are all separate elements of the boot, but they work together thanks to a pivot system that provides a flexible yet tough link that helps stabilize the rider’s foot and ankle. It’s vital for off-road boots to provide a solid line of defense between the rider and the hazards of the ride, but comfort is a must, too. Riders want boots that work with them, not against them, especially for long days at the track or on the trail.

The Alpinestars/Moose Racing Tech 7 boots have a host of comfort features, like accordion flex zones in the instep and Achilles areas. A soft poly-foam around the ankles and collar provide shock absorption to further the comfort factor.

A microfiber gaiter helps keep water and dirt out of the boots, while the breathable mesh 3D liner is a way to keep feet dry and cool. There is also an anti-sliding microfiber suede reinforcement in the heel to make sure feet stay put. After all, no one wants to deal with blisters on race day.

The anatomic footbed contributes to even weight distribution, and it can be removed and replaced. The high-grip, double-density sole and aluminum-framed straps of the boot can be replaced, too, making it easy to keep the Alpinestars/Moose Racing Tech 7 boots up and running for a long time.

The buckle system has a “set it and forget it” memory system along with a quick release/locking system. Add in the hook-and-loop closure, and it’s easy to get a highly customized fit. ■

Tunable Performance UTV Power Packages and Upgrades

Dynojet has a rich history in making powersports products go fast. Dynojet has been at the forefront of tuning since 1973 when the company released its first tuning product by introducing its carburetor jet kits. These jet kits allowed riders to control the air-to-fuel ratio and tune their motorcycles without spending hours doing so. The product was a hit with riders and racers alike. The company continued to create innovative, game-changing products like the first inertia dynamometer in 1989, followed by the release of the first Power Commander in 1997.

Fast-forward to 2018. Dynojet knew the moment was right to enter the burgeoning UTV/side-by-side market and began focusing on building performance parts for the segment. It first produced the Power Vision fuel

when used in conjunction with Dynojet’s Power Vision performance tunes.

Dynojet’s full line of UTV engine and intake upgrades include belts, clutches, launch control modules, wastegate kits, fuel injectors, charge tubes, turbochargers, belttemp sensor kits, throttle sensitivity controllers, sway bar disconnect links, and more. Each product is designed to give your customers more control, power and torque, as well as higher speeds and better cooling than ever before. Dynojet’s line of CVT Belts is designed and manufactured in the USA to provide consistent grip and maximum power transfer. Dynojet offers a Lifetime Warranty on its CVT belts. management system for Polaris and Can-Am UTV models. This has since expanded to Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha UTVs. The Power Vision gives users total control of their UTV’s performance by allowing them to flash the ECU from anywhere – including on the trail. Users can build their own tune or choose from a list of pre-tested, trusted Dynojet-engineered tunes.

Soon after introducing the Power Vision, Dynojet realized stock clutches couldn’t handle the horsepower after they added the Power Vision module, which led to the introduction of Dynojet Clutch Kits. Each Clutch Kit features adjustable arms with magnetic weights and multiple spring options that can be updated for specific terrain, with each kit engineered to deliver maximum output

everything in between. Each Throttle Commander features adjustments from a -50 percent decrease to a +100 percent increase in throttle modulation, making for easy throttle response customization. Best of all, Dynojet’s unique product permits adjustments on the fly without stopping for a break in the action. An attractive knob/dial can be mounted anywhere in the cockpit for easy access, and OEM connections make installation a breeze.

With Power Packages available in five stages – from 1 (mild) to 5 (wild) for many of the most popular UTV models –Dynojet is your customers’ one stop performance shop. ■

Stow and Go Storage Solutions for UTVs

Whether it’s bulky items or something as small as a cell phone, Moose Utility Division has a creative way for your customers to take it along for the ride on their UTVs. Two of the newest UTV products from the company are a universal upper deck cargo system and a cell phone mount.

The universal upper deck cargo system turns the bed of a UTV into a double decker by adding an elevated cargo bed rack that is secured via strong steel brackets.

This additional layer of storage allows the original bed of the UTV to be used for bigger, heavier items, while smaller items can be stored up top. The cargo bed is available in both L and XL sizes, and it is built out of a strong HRPO ASTM A 1011 steel. Each cargo bed rack is CNC formed and welded for a precision fit and outstanding strength.

The cargo bed rack is designed with strap points around the top edge of all four sides, making it easy to secure items with tie-down straps. Additionally, racks or brackets can be bolted onto the sides of the cargo bed to increase the carrying possibilities.

To install the cargo bed rack, dealers will need to order the rack itself in either L or XL, plus the upper deck brackets that Moose Utility Division sells separately. For Can-Am

and Polaris applications, Moose Utility Division lock-andride plugs will be needed, too. All other UTV models will work with the hardware included in the bracket kit.

These days, we rely on our cell phones for everything, like navigation, streaming music to our Bluetooth-enabled stereos, and filming our off-road adventures so we can brag on social media. Moose Utility Division knows UTV riders need their phones in quick reach, and the new UTV phone mount does just that.

The custom clamping system comes with mounts for both profiled and round roll cage bars, so the fit is compatible with any vehicle. The phone fitment is adjustable, too, so any kind of phone can be mounted securely.

Moose Utility Division designed the UTV phone mount to be versatile, which means it can mount to the driver or passenger side of the vehicle, and it can be set to portrait or landscape mode.

When it comes to filming the ride, the mount has built-in vibration isolation to make sure the video will be quality footage, even when riding along bumpy trails. ■

Upgraded Stopping High-Quality, Value-Packed Brake Pads

pads with fresh replacements. Stop right there – changing brake pads and tires at the same time, which makes sense because brakes and tires can be accessed simultaneously, saving shop technicians time during each shop visit.

Rugged and Reliable Drive Chains Made for

Off-Road

Life is especially tough for off-road motorcycle drive chains, be it for racing or recreational trail riding. Today’s Enduro, Adventure, motocross and dual-sport bikes have powerful engines each placed in a chassis with rugged long-gravel suspension. It’s a combination that begs to be raced – or ridden –hard over dirt, sand, mud, muck, rocks, and logs that are merciless to a bike’s chain. What to do?

Call on Regina Chain, which offers its durable 520 ZSE for enduro and trail riding, and the 520 RX3 for motocross (or serious recreational riding). The 520 ZSE, in particular, is a chain designed for enduro competition. During assembly the chain’s Z-rings are flexed into place, each one creating a spring effect that maintains a strong seal to trap lubricant between the plates for reduced friction at all times. The ZSE’s narrow profile and light weight also means less drag on the motorcycle’s sprockets.

A special feature is the Z’s eye-catching gold-color plates, made of shot-peened high-carbon alloy, to conceal the solid bushings. Each ZSE chain box includes three

connecting links for quick and easy chain transfer to the bike. Links include clip type, and safe and strong rivetand-hollow type.

Many motocross racers, who focus on durability and reliability, choose Regina Chain’s 520 ZSE, a low-friction chain providing deep engagement with the sprockets to ensure that power always transfers smoothly to the rear wheel. ■

High and Dry Waterproof Boots for Enduro and Adventure

Apair of enduro/dual-sport boots have to do a lot, and they have to do those things well. Anyone heading out on a long trip, especially one that goes beyond the road’s end, wants a boot that has the trifecta of comfort, protection and waterproofing. Luckily for enduro riders, the Alpinestars Tech 7 Enduro Drystar boot does all of those things with ease. It should go without saying that these boots are great for Adventure riders, too, especially those who have heavier bikes and tend to spend a lot of time off-road. Keeping feet dry and comfortable is a must, no matter what the terrain and weather have in store.

The Tech 7 Enduro Drystar boot is a variation of the Tech 7 off-road boot, which Alpinestars says is its most popular off-road boot of all time. That means Alpinestars had a great platform for creating an enduro boot that could meet all the expectations.

The Enduro Drystar is one of three Tech 7 variations, including the standard off-road boot, the Enduro version and the Enduro Drystar. The two Enduro versions have a more aggressive lugged sole that offers better grip and traction when off the bike.

The Enduro Drystar boot takes things one step further by adding a 100 percent waterproof and breathable Drystar membrane and a tall internal gaiter.

The injection-molded main chassis of the boot features different densities of material in key areas, providing impact protection and strength without compromising flexibility and comfort.

TPU plates can be found throughout the Enduro Drystar boots, providing an extra layer of security for the feet, ankles and legs. A shank in the sole under the rider’s arch adds to the strong defense against impacts.

Alpinestars designed the Tech 7 line with hyperflexion and extension prevention in mind. A bio-mechanical link system keeps the areas of the boot connected in a way that helps prevent twisting or hyperextension, and a blade system on the upper rear of the boot is designed to provide progressive resistance to the forces that cause hyperextension.

The Tech 7 Enduro Drystar boots provide a great barrier against both the hazards of the ride and the weather, but comfort was carefully considered, too. The boots remain flexible, which improves the feel on the bike’s controls and allows better mobility. Inside, the boots have a breathable, moisture-wicking textile material that is bolstered by soft foam around the ankles and collar. Under the foot, the anatomic footbed can be removed and replaced as needed.

To top it all off, the four-buckle closure system includes self-cleaning, self-aligning aluminum buckles that are designed to withstand high impacts. ■
