He said that sounded interesting and that he would be in Southern California soon and we should get together. It wasn’t long until he came out and we met for dinner. I then had a chance to go over the details on a single sheet of paper about how it would work, what my company would do, and what we would need his company to do. A few minor changes were noted, and then Fred said, “I can’t say right now how many issues we can do, but let’s try a few and see how it goes.” And that was it. No meetings with attorneys. No written contract. Just that single sheet of paper with the details that we both agreed to. And to this day, that has never changed.
The Premier issue of Parts Magazine in March of 1994 featured an exciting cover photo that emphasized the steel-belt construction of the newest Metzeler tires to hit the market. Don Emde Collection
N
o, not me. It’s Parts Magazine that is now officially 30 years old. It all started with the issue #1 back in 1994 and now here we are at the end of 2023. We celebrated this year with many looks back through our history and have now finally reached a milestone many publications never achieve. As with most things that Parts Unlimited has been involved with through the years, Parts Magazine began as an idea that was presented to our dear-departed friend and LeMans founder Fred Fox. It was the summer of 1993 when I first talked to him on the phone about an idea that I had for a magazine that my company could produce for them.
It’s been amazing to be along for the ride these past thirty years. We’ve seen different brands, vendors, reps, dealers, and management leaders come and go, but the memories are all vivid and positive of their commitment to the slogan: “We Support the Sport.” Their events especially stand out, including the years of the VIP dealer hospitality centers at the Supercross, motocross, off-road, flat track and roadracing events; many great dealer rides in Colorado, Michigan and other fun places, their Dealer Training Tours, Night of the Stars awards banquets and the annual conventions known as the NVPs (National Vendor Presentations). It was a great honor for me to be asked a couple of years ago to write and publish the biography of Fred Fox. He was my friend for over forty years, and I was happy to do it. Fred is gone now, but his spirit lives on and with “Unlimited. The Fred Fox Story” as a playbook, you can bet that Parts Unlimited and other LeMans brands and companies are positioned to continue to lead the way in the motorcycle and powersports industry. I hope to see you next month at the NVP in Louisville. ■

t’s hard to know where to begin talking about the many titles from THOR and Moose Racing riders in the 2023 season. The final weeks of the year saw some of the major championships draw to a close and some incredible moments in off-road history unfolding right before our eyes, not least of which was the incredible performance by the U.S. Trophy Teams at the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) in San Juan, Argentina.

Taylor Robert of the FMF KTM Offroad Factory Racing Team put an incredible bookend on his professional racing career as he once again led the U.S. Trophy Team to a resounding ISDE overall victory. The longtime THOR-backed athlete was happy to cap his sensational career with a team success on the global stage, flanked by Cole Martinez and fellow THOR racers Johnny Girroir and Dante Oliveira.

“We came [to Argentina] with a goal in mind—to get that third win—and we did exactly that,” said Robert. “The team was incredible. Honestly, it’s the most dedicated team [I’ve been around]. Everybody was super-selfless. It was an amazing experience all the way around and I couldn’t have asked for anything more.”
For Girroir, winning the Sprint Enduro World Championship was only the beginning, the Red Bull KTM rider fought through a severe head cold to help deliver the American team the grand victory. Robert’s KTM teammate Oliveira finished out the week with a win on day six to make it onto the individual overall podium in third place just ahead of Robert.

THOR/KTM’s Trystan Hart earned his first AMA EnduroCross Championship. Jack Jaxon photo
Moose Racing riders Korie Steede and Rachel Gutish joined Brandy Richards on the U.S. Women’s Trophy Team in taking the Women’s World Trophy overall victory, emerging victorious despite a multitude of setbacks that would have spelled the end for most mere mortals. A big crash on day three left Gutish with a separated shoulder and broken ribs, but the Moose Racing athlete showed world championship strength as she soldiered on through the week, determined not to let her team down.
CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON Moose Racing/KTM’s Gutish didn’t even bother slowing down after the conclusion of the Six Days; she came home and headed straight for the AMA EnduroCross Championship finale, where she nabbed her fifth Women’s Pro win of the season and wrapped up her first AMA EnduroCross title.

on the back foot when he failed to make the podium at the first two rounds. The THOR rider came into the final needing more than just wins to clinch the championship—he needed a subpar finish from points leader and defending champion Jonny Walker. Against the odds, that’s exactly what Hart got at the final round in Reno, Nevada, claiming the third (of three) race wins on the night, the overall victory and the championship. “The math was so confusing,” Hart said. “I just knew that there was a chance I was going to win. I honestly didn’t even know I won. My mechanic was cheering and I just started doing a burnout!” Oliveira is another who returned from Argentina ready to claim more championships. The FMF KTM Factory rider clinched the National Grand Prix Championship (NGPC) Series title before the ISDE, taking his fourth straight NGPC title in a row with a win at the Ridgecrest round. For the West Hare Scrambles championship, Oliveira needed little more than to show up to clinch the title, but still capped off his season with a win at the final in Wilseyville, California, wrapping up a landmark year. In the 250cc ranks, AmPro Yamaha’s Liam Draper is the star of the East. The Moose Racing rider rode to an impressive string of class victories in both the National Enduro and
GNCC championships, in both series locked in some of the most competitive title fights of the year. At the 12th and final round of the GNCC season, Draper finished second in class and 10th overall to claim the XC2 250 Pro Championship. One week later, Draper used another second-place finish to clinch his second championship, this one the National Enduro Pro 2 title. “I’ve heard if you surround yourself with good people, good things happen,” said Draper. “I have great people in my corner this year and being part of the AmPro Yamaha team, where they want to win every weekend, has really helped this season.” THOR rider Tristun Alvarez piloted his KTM to the 125cc Pro title by just one point after a dramatic finish at the WORCS season final in Taft, California. Alvarez had to push his bike across the finish line after a mechanical issue, and in an impressive show of sportsmanship, he was aided in the effort by none other than his class rival, Travis Damon. More honorable championships went to Moose Racingbacked riders, with AmPro Yamaha’s Ryder Sigety crowned the 85cc Big Wheel (11-15) GNCC Champion and Kaitlyn Jacobs of the RPM KTM team claiming the WORCS Women Pro title. ■

otoAmerica released its tentative 2024 MotoAmerica Championship schedule with eight classes set to battle for titles, including 20 Superbike races held over nine rounds, two additional Mission King of the Baggers races, the Daytona 200, and a return to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course after a 10-year hiatus.
TENTATIVE 2024 MOTOAMERICA CALENDAR
MotoAmerica will again begin its season with its Supersport class competing in the non-points-paying Daytona 200, with the Mission King of the Baggers Championship, Twins Cup and Mission Super Hooligan National Championship kicking off their seasons with the start of those three championships. For 2024, the 82nd running of the Daytona 200 at Daytona International Speedway will be the only extended-distance, pit-stop round of the Supersport series. Like last year, the 20-race Superbike series will compete three times over the course of the weekend at two rounds – Barber Motorsports Park and Circuit of The Americas – with a single race on Saturday followed by two races on Sunday. Additionally, as was the case in 2023, all classes will compete twice over the course of their scheduled race weekends. “It’s hard to believe that the 2024 season represents 10 years since MotoAmerica took over the AMA Superbike series,” said MotoAmerica COO Chuck Aksland. “Since that time, we’ve seen tremendous growth, not only with our television

ood gear at a good price point never goes out of style. Moose Racing’s Qualifier off-road gear is a favorite with riders, year after year, and for good reason. As Moose Racing’s entry-level option, Qualifier jerseys and pants are affordable while still giving riders style and durability. In fact, Qualifier off-road gear has become so popular that it can be found on riders ranging from the budget-minded casual rider to the expert competitor. Even though Moose Racing designed the Qualifier line to be entry-level gear, it has become a flagship best-seller for the brand. The durability, comfort and style combined with the price makes it an easy choice for a lot of off-road riders.

The wide range of sizes only further increases the Qualifier’s popularity. The jersey is available all the way up to a 5XL, and the pants go from a 28 to a 54. The latest Qualifier pants and jerseys include six different color options in a new, bold graphic design. Since the graphics are sublimated, they won’t fade over time, so the colors will remain nice and bright, wash after wash. The colors and graphics might be new, but the features are the same ones that continue to make the Qualifier line so popular. The jersey features a durable polyester fabric paired with performance-fit cuffs that keep the sleeves firmly but comfortably in place. The jersey has a relaxed fit, making it easy for the rider to move on the bike.

The Qualifier jacket is a versatile piece for chilly days. When it’s not too cold out, the sleeves zip off to create a vest. Riders don’t have to worry about misplacing their sleeves, though, since the zippered back pocket is roomy enough for sleeve storage.
MOOSE RACING
Even though the Qualifier line started life as just off-road pants and jerseys, the line has expanded in recent years to include the Qualifier jacket, over-the-boot pants, and ATV boots.
The Qualifier jacket takes temperature control another step further with two front and rear vents plus pit vents, so a rider can adjust the amount of airflow to their taste. When the temperatures dip, the double front zipper flap, adjustable cuffs, and microfiber lined collar keep the cold from getting inside the jacket. Moose Racing designed the Qualifier jacket with a roomy cut so it can slip on over gear. The material is wind-resistant and water-resistant, and additional storage includes an interior pocket plus two zippered hand pockets for smaller items, like keys and a phone. Like the jacket, the Qualifier over-the-boot pants are made to go on over a rider’s regular gear. The zippered leg openings make it easy to get boots through, and the oversized knee area keeps things roomy and comfortable. The knees are designed for premium comfort and durability, and the pre-bent design and spandex stretch panels allow freedom of movement. At the same time, the knee areas are strong thanks to the high-denier nylon inner panels. Moose Racing/Kawasaki rider JoJo Cunningham counts on the Qualifier gear when out dominating his GNCC 250A class.
The Qualifier pants begin with a high-denier polyester material that is tough and abrasion resistant. That material is paired with stretch panels in key areas to allow easy movement without compromising durability. The fit and comfort of the pants is further enhanced by the athletic styling and pre-curved legs, assuring a non-binding fit on the bike. The waist has a three-point adjustment system so riders get just the right fit. Moose Racing works with its pro riders to develop and refine riding gear, and the Qualifier line is no exception. These riders put the Qualifier pants and jerseys to the test in real-world racing and riding situations to find out just how durable and comfortable they are. Applying these rigorous testing standards means the Qualifier gear is tough enough for the most challenging of riding situations.
Other perks of the Qualifier pants include two pockets and a three-point waist adjustment system. Moose Racing designed its Qualifier MX and Qualifier ATV boots to have the right blend of flexibility, durability and comfort. The ATV version has a specially designed sole to better suit that riding segment. The boots are made of a synthetic leather that is both flexible and durable, and there are a host of additional features that add to their toughness. The reinforced TPU shin, ankle and footplates add stability without giving up flexibility, and a rigid steel shank reinforces the sole. When it comes to the comfort factor, the Qualifier boots have adjustable straps to ensure just the right fit. Inside, feet stay dry and comfortable thanks to a polyester lining that wicks moisture away. ■

Off-Road Tires Built to Win
T
he right tire choice can make all the difference between standing at the top of the podium and going home disappointed. Michelin designed its StarCross 6 off-road tire range to win championships, and by offering five different versions, riders can excel in many different conditions and terrains. Whatever the riding conditions might be, there is a StarCross 6 tire to tackle it with ease. The tire names correspond to the type of terrain and conditions the tire is designed to be used in. On the slippery side of things, the StarCross 6 Sand and Mud tires are great choices for the trickiest of conditions.
Michelin Silica Technology improves both traction and durability thanks to the careful blend of silica in the compound. In fact, the StarCross 6 tire has up to 16 percent more traction than its predecessor, marking a huge improvement in grip. That number gets bigger as the tire gets older: after it’s been used for a while, the StarCross 6 tire has up to 19 percent more traction than its predecessor. This means riders can continue to be confident that their tire will maintain grip, lap after lap.
ABOVE: Michelin offers its StarCross 6 off-road tire range in five different versions, including the StarCross 6 Medium Hard tires. They are a great intermediate choice that can handle harder terrain.
The tread blocks of the StarCross 6 tire also benefit from Michelin Silica Technology. The compound gives the blocks more durability, so tire life is improved.
LEFT: The StarCross 6 Medium Soft tires are ideal for soft terrain, like loamy soil. RIGHT: Michelin’s StarCross 6 Sand tires are a great choice for the trickiest of conditions.
The StarCross 6 Hard tire sits at the opposite end of the spectrum, ready to take on the most extreme hardpack without compromising grip. In between those options are the Michelin StarCross 6 Medium Soft and StarCross 6 Medium Hard tires. These two tires are a great choice for a wide range of motocross track conditions. The StarCross 6 Medium Soft tires are ideal for soft terrain, like loamy soil, while the StarCross 6 Medium Hard tires are a great intermediate choice that can handle harder terrain. Michelin might have designed the StarCross 6 line to win at the top tiers of off-road racing, but these tires are also a great choice for riders at every level of the sport, or even for casual trail riders. The engineering, compounds and technology found in the StarCross 6 tire range are designed to boost confidence in all riding situations.

The other significant technology in the Michelin StarCross 6 tire range is Michelin Adaptive Design. Each tire features a tread pattern that is designed specifically for the terrain it will be encountering. The number, shape, depth and distribution of studs and sipes are all carefully engineered to provide an optimal level of traction and lean angle predictability for the specific terrain. AMS’s test riders settled on a fairly aggressive tread pattern for the biteMX, focusing on off-road performance while maintaining some stability and smoothness on hard-packed dirt. Semi-wide block spacing along the center of the tire bites into the trail when the surface is soft and loose, and careful block placement promotes strong self-cleaning when the trail gets muddy. Along the shoulders of the biteMX, tread spacing is reduced to
provide enhanced support for consistent feedback and traction while cornering. From the inside out, the biteMX features materials, technologies, and design aspects intended to make it the go-to tire for your off-road customers. With these new 10inch, 12-inch, and 14-inch sizes the biteMX is now offered in an impressive 16 sizes, which makes this versatile tire an option for nearly every off-road bike. 2023 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship GAGNE WINS AFTER CHALLENGING SEASON OF RACING
E
ven though on paper it seems as though Jake Gagne had an easy run to the 2023 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship, that’s not entirely true. In fact, despite taking the title by 128 points with 17 podiums, including 11 wins, in 20 races, Gagne will tell you that this was perhaps the most difficult of his three successive Superbike titles. Gagne will admit to that, not based on how the championship ended, but how it began. Cameron Beaubier returned to the MotoAmerica Championship after trying his hand at the Moto2 World Championship in 2021 and 2022. He came back on a BMW M1000 RR on the Tytlers Cycle Racing team and he didn’t waste any time giving Gagne and his Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha Racing YZF-R1 all they could handle.
Beaubier won the opening race of the season at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, beating Gagne in a straight battle. The next day, the race was decided on the final lap with Gagne coming out on top. Beaubier’s challenge lasted until things started to unravel when he crashed in race one at Brainerd International Raceway and suffered a concussion that kept him out of race two. Prior to that, Beaubier had won five of the first 11 races of the year. Beaubier had one more podium before being forced to call it quits on the season with his horrific crash at Pittsburgh International Race Complex. Beaubier’s injury-plagued year was in stark contrast to Gagne’s. In fact, Gagne went the entire racing season without crashing and it was just a lone crash during preseason testing that marred a non-crash 2023. What truly made the 2023 season an exciting one was the fact that – unlike the previous two years – no one had a clue who was going to win the races. Although Danilo Petrucci and the Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC team gave Gagne fits in certain races in 2022, even Petrucci knew he didn’t have Gagne’s pace week in and week out. The 2023 season will also be remembered for the fact that it wasn’t just Gagne and Beaubier who won races, as Josh Herrin parlayed his two wins and 12 podiums into the runnerup position in the final standings on the Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC Panigale V4 R while Beaubier’s teammate PJ Jacobsen also showed his mettle with a victory and eight podiums into third in the title chase. Richie Escalante ended up fourth in the championship as the Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki rider excelled in his sophomore Superbike season with his slew of consistent top-five finishes culminating in his first career Superbike podium at Circuit of The Americas.

Escalante topped Westby Racing’s Mathew Scholtz by just one point with the South African ending up fifth – two points ahead of the at-home-and-recovering Beaubier. The 2024 MotoAmerica schedule kicks off in March at the Daytona International Speedway Championship. ■

HELMETS
Red, White and Bluetooth
A High-Tech Helmet and a Sweepstakes The Domain Revere’s eye-catching graphics complement the helmets deep list of features that make it comfortable and protective.
B
ack in 1775, Patrick Henry spoke the now-iconic phrase “give me liberty or give me death.” ICON seems to have taken that phrase literally with the Domain Revere helmet, which features the Grim Reaper himself on the shell. Leave it to ICON to produce a patriotic helmet that still has skulls incorporated into the design. The Revere moniker is reflected in the single lantern shining its message on the back of the helmet. (Thanks for letting us know how the British are arriving, Paul.)
Your dealers and their customers can register to win a Schecter Van Nuys guitar featuring the same Revere artwork that adorns the Revere model. They’ll also win a Domain Revere helmet and a HelmLink Bluetooth communicator.
There’s no denying the Revere graphic is a great look, and the team at ICON decided that if it looked so good on a helmet, then it would look good on a guitar, too. ICON has teamed up with Schecter Guitar Research to produce a couple of custom-painted Schecter Van Nuys guitars featuring the Revere artwork, and one of the guitars will be going home to a lucky ICON fan. The sweepstakes will launch in mid-January and will last for a week. The winner will receive the guitar, a Domain Revere helmet and a HelmLink Bluetooth communicator. Your Parts rep will have details on how you and your customers can enter. No purchase will be necessary for entrants, and dealers and riders alike will be able to find details about the sweepstakes on ICON’s Facebook and Instagram accounts as we get closer to the sweepstakes kickoff. ICON designed the Domain helmet to accommodate the HelmLink Bluetooth communicator, which was developed

along with SENA Communications. The goal was to create a communicator that easily replaced the side plates and rear neckroll of the Domain helmet, resulting in a perfectly integrated system. Mesh technology and Bluetooth 5 allow as many as 20 riders to connect, and the extended battery life makes long trips more convenient. The rear neckline of the Domain helmet is sculpted to accommodate the rear control unit and access port of the HelmLink. As a bonus, the shaping makes it easier to slip the helmet on and off. Plus, the control unit has a flashing red light that increases visibility.
The Domain shell that the Revere graphic sits on top of is handmade composite fiberglass FRP. This material offers the best of both worlds with its superior strength and minimal weight. Four intake vents and a large exhaust vent keep air flowing, but just in case things get hot inside the helmet, the moisture-wicking Hydradry comfort liner keeps things cool. And, of course, the liner can be removed and washed to keep things smelling fresh, too. Up front, the oversized Fog-Free Domain shield provides an outstanding field of distortion-free vision. Riders who want to add a bit of a motocross look can opt for the Domain Motoshield, which has an integrated motostyle sun visor. ■

known for their reliability, strength and performance. Excel now has three grades of rims for riders to choose from. The newest economically priced rim, called Excel One, is specifically designed for non-racing riders.
WEEKEND WARRIORS - EXCEL ONE RIMS Excel One Rims were developed for enthusiasts, weekend warriors and trail riders looking for a good value for their money. Excel One Rims are ideal for OEM replacement and are a great economical alternative to Excel’s premium Takasago and A60 rims that dominate the podium worldwide. Excel One’s extrusion profile combines a new economical aluminum alloy that gives Excel One the performance that Excel Rims represents. Rims can be laced to stock and non-stock aftermarket hubs and are available in a range of sizes fitting most popular Supercross/motocross models. Excel One Rims are available in black anodizing and are in stock at Parts Unlimited.
EXCEL PROFESSIONAL RACING - A60 RIMS Excel’s flagship rim is the Excel A60 rim, which was developed specifically for professional Supercross/motocross racing applications. Excel A60 Rims are structurally 15 percent stronger than current Excel Takasago Rims, and feature a V-Curve profile to help mud slide off the rim better, helping reduce rotating wheel mass. The A60 is only available in black and is characterized by a metallic silver pin stripe on both sides of the rim. Excel A60s are available in a range of sizes and can be laced to both stock and aftermarket hubs. A60 rims are used by eight-time GNCC champion Kailub Russell of FMF KTM Factory Racing off-road fame, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team, and Kawasaki Pro Circuit Racing.
EXCEL RACING RIMS – TAKASAGO RIMS Excel’s Takasago Series Rims are also suitable for Supercross/motocross racing and are constructed from 7 series aluminum alloy meeting or exceeding OEM quality specifications. Unlike Excel A60, Excel Takasago rims are available in a wider range of colors and sizes. Rim *colors include Black, Gold, Silver, Blue and Yellow. Takasago Rim width and diameter availability ranges from mini bikes to Adventure bikes, and even include supermoto sizes. Excel Takasago rims can be laced to both stock and aftermarket hubs. High-Quality Off-Road Clutch Parts
Barnett’s new Belleville-type clutch spring for KTM off-road bikes is 15 percent stiffer than the OE spring.
S
ince 1948, when Charlie Barnett formed Barnett Tool & Engineering, the California-based company has offered upgraded motorcycle clutches for all applications, road and off-road alike. Barnett’s most recent off-road entry is its HeavyDuty KTM Belleville-type Clutch Spring for select 450cc and 500cc off-road models.
oil flow directly to the clutch plate for cooler operating temperatures and longer clutch life. Grade-8 fasteners are included with each basket, and when applicable to specific models a backing plate is included. Some applications come with the center kicker gear installed for easy assembly. Kits are available for 125cc and up off-road bikes and ATVs.
The new Belleville-type clutch spring for KTM off-road bikes is based on a heat-treated high-carbon spring steel that Barnett claims is 15 percent stiffer than the OE spring. Chris Taylor from Barnett adds that, “For optimal performance install a Barnett Dirt Digger clutch plate kit with the new spring.” And, like all Barnett products, the new KTM Bellville-type clutch spring is made in the USA.
Barnett’s clutch pressure plates for specific off-road bikes are CNC precision machined from billet aluminum. The plates have tempered steel surfaces that dissipate heat more efficiently, and the steel surface helps lower clutch operating temperatures. Barnett is so confident in this design that the complete assembly is guaranteed for life. Barnett says that the pressure plates extreme durability and precise fit results in an assembly that, once installed, never needs attention again. ■
As such, Barnett continues to offer complete Dirt Digger high-performance clutch kits for a wide range of KTM and other off-road models. Every clutch kit features friction plates using Barnett’s exclusive carbon-based, or Kevlar friction, materials (depending on the respective kit), with tempered steel drive plates and heavy-duty springs. All Dirt Digger clutch kits provide a stronger, more positive engagement, and segmented friction material increases oil flow to the clutch assembly for smoother, more consistent performance and increased clutch life. In addition, the heavy-duty springs are shot-peened and heat-treated for extreme durability. The Dirt Diggers are pre-measured for proper stack height prior to packaging to assure reliable fit. Barnett continues to offer individual replacement clutch baskets for a variety of off-road applications, which are CNC precision machined from the most durable billet aluminum. Each clutch basket features Barnett’s patented replaceable stainless steel inserts that prevent grooving of the basket where the clutch plate tabs make contact. Oil passage windows machined into the basket increase

PARTS UNLIMITED DEALER RIDE:
The
2023
OCTOBER 22-25 – TUCSON, ARIZONA
T
here’s really no beating the shared experience that powersports activities offer. Whether it be on two wheels or four, heading out for a ride with a group is a sure way to make strangers friends and good friends better. That’s why the annual Parts Unlimited Dealer Ride is one of the most sought-after activities of the year, and for 2023 the event took a select group of dealers to the saguarostudded landscape of east Tucson, Arizona. For two full days in October, those attending The Sidewinder ride got to experience the desert’s natural beauty via streetbike, UTV and E-Bike. It’s a tried-and-true formula for a good time and one that highlights the very product lines available through those Parts Unlimited catalogs. The Sidewinder ride offered those dealers a chance to unwind and get away from the dealership and explore an area of the Southwest stretching from the Rincon Mountains all the way down to the historic wild west town of Tombstone, Arizona. It was also an opportunity to meet up with other dealers and Parts Ride veterans, as well as their Parts reps and the supporting sponsors. At this point, it really is a big family that looks forward to seeing one another again to ride, bench race, break bread and generally have a rip-roaring time. As always, The Sidewinder ride launched with dealer registration at the popular Vendor Row in the hotel parking
lot. This is where the supporting vendors set up shop to meet with dealers and offer them a big range of highly coveted Parts Ride swag and free samples. The Barn at Tanque Verde Ranch served as the main staging area and jumping off point for countless UTV trails and a hospitality area under the Parts Unlimited’s big rig’s huge tent. The area featured trails up and into the Redington Pass, and offered desert vistas that stretched as far as the eye could see. The street ride took riders on two different loops – one to Tombstone near the U.S./Mexico border, and another up to Mount Lemmon and out to Oracle, Arizona. Parts staged the E-Bike ride at the Fantasy Island Mountain Bike Park, which offered a nice taste of the desert terrain. Each day was capped off with a welcome reception and dinner, where everyone had the chance to kick back over food and drinks. On the last night, the group gathered for a final meal, which included lively interviews and storytelling led by the Voice of LeMans, Rob Buydos. The night included a fun Awards Ceremony where some traditional honors were handed out, including the popular Dealer of the Year award, which went to Jim Bergh, Sarah Bergh, Leigha Ollhoff and Grace Ollhoff of 365 Powersports. Now is the time to start planning for the 2024 dealer ride and your Parts Unlimited rep can fill you in on all the details of how to qualify.

he latest products from Moose Utility Division are proof that style and function can go hand in hand. The new 23X and 24X wheels are as good-looking as they are strong and durable, and the Green Series single-row LED light bars are a high-tech way to see well at night. The 23X and 24X wheels follow the tradition of having Moose Racing branding. They’re designed for side-by-side riders who want to amp up the style of their vehicle as well as those who need wheels that are capable of hard work.
The 23X wheels get that Moose Racing branding, a good look for a wheel built for tough use.
Both of these new wheel styles are made from aluminum in a 12x7 size with a 4/156 bolt hole pattern. The 23X wheel is available in a black satin finish, while the 24X comes in both matte bronze and gloss black. Like all wheels from Moose Utility Division and Moose Racing, every single one is X-rayed on the production line to ensure premium quality. The 23X and 24X wheels both have distinctive styling, so how is a rider supposed to pick a favorite? The Moose ATV/ UTV Wheels App for iOS and Android comes to the rescue, allowing a customer to overlay a set of Moose wheels onto a photo of their vehicle. This augmented reality lets

customers see exactly how their vehicle will look with the different wheel designs and finishes. The app is easy to use, and it’s available as a free download. Moose Utility Division’s new Green Series single-row LED light bars are designed with nighttime hunting and fishing in mind. Green light benefits our eyes when it comes to seeing better in the dark, especially for things like spotting animals with darker coloring. The light bars are available in lengths of 3 inches and 8 inches, and both feature super-bright, 5W green LEDs run by a 6,000K Philips-built CREE chipset. The scratchresistant lens has a 50x magnification to further boost the lights, which feature a combination of spot and flood lighting styles. The LED technology means these lights have a life expectancy of more than 50,000 hours, so no one is going to get stranded in the dark because the lights have blown out. The housing is made from extruded aluminum, and the automotive-grade epoxy sealant protects against water and dust. In fact, these lights have an IP67 waterproof rating, meaning they can handle even the worst weather. Each Green Series LED light bar arrives with the necessary mounting brackets, hardware, deluxe wiring harness, relay, fuse, ring terminals, and a lighted in-dash rocker switch. ■

inter might be the season, but springtime is on the minds of many. Cloudy skies begin to part way to sunshine, plants and greenery are blooming, and temperatures creep up enough to ditch that last jacket. This is the time motoheads stop and give their clutch lever a few extra snaps as they walk by their bikes in the garage, getting that itch to go out and rip some laps once again. Though it may not be time just yet, preparation for the season of loamy dirt and epic conditions has long since begun at the THOR MX headquarters. In fact, THOR’s 2024 spring line is a direct showcase of what the two-wheelminded scientists of THOR have been cooking up in their lab of performance for another season of championshipproven racewear. Ready to make their mark on moto in THOR’s ’24 spring line are an updated pant design and vibe-setting new styles for Prime racewear, new-gen chest protection with the Sentinel Pro and next-level upper body protection with Sentry Stealth. Kicking it off, and setting the riding season tone of the collection, are the Aloha and Jazz versions of 2024 Prime racewear. tion racers know and love from Prime, and they do it in two different colorways to help your customers match the tropical moto vacation they’re feeling. The next new Prime racewear design is dubbed Jazz, pulling inspiration from the incredible years of 2000s motocross and adapting it to deliver on modern-day racewear needs. On top of these fresh designs, Prime pants also feature a new, reinforced ratchet strap waist assembly to provide a precise and secure fit. Just seeing these new Prime sets from THOR in your store or on your site will have your customers flashing back to the Reed and Villopoto heydays and get them itching to throw on a set and hit the track where they’re sure to win a lit kit award. Shifting gears into upper body protection, this segment has come a long way in the sport of motocross since the early days of clunky plastic plates with oversized shoulder and arm guards. Referred to by riders simply as “chest protectors,” the design has evolved into something more than the name, providing front and rear upper body protection without hindering movement and feel on the motorcycle. This type of innovation is displayed in THOR’s Sentinel Pro line, prominently offering riders next-generation chest and back protection in the form of lightweight, purpose-

No rider ever plans to hit the ground, but THOR has pulled out its best to help them if they do find themselves in a wayward situation. In fact, Sentinel Pro chest and back protectors are tested and certified to the strict level 1 European standards, more than enough to meet FIM safety requirements. While the Sentinel Pro provides a fantastic level of insurance, THOR understands that some riders are concerned first and foremost with maximum protection. This is where the Sentry Stealth steps up to bat. Sentry Stealth is an upper body protection suit that delivers essential protection with just the right amount of subtlety. THOR’s designers succeeded in walking the line between comfort and coverage with the Sentry Stealth, constructing the main chassis of soft, breathable and flexible materials. Add in removeable impact pads for the chest, back, shoulders and elbows and riders can clearly feel Sentry Stealth’s truly defensive nature. This new generation of upper body protection from THOR should not simply be taken for face value. It too meets level 1 European safety standards for chest and back protection as well as level 2 standards for elbow and shoulder protection, adding up to a complete garment testing certification.

TIRES
Racing DNA
A Street Tire with a Superbike Soul Supercorsa V4 is manufactured in two styles, which includes a street version that is available to Parts Unlimited dealers – the DIABLO Supercorsa SP V4 tire for the street. The tire’s racing DNA is still apparent in the design, materials and profile. It’s easy to trace the line from race tire to street tire, beginning with the introduction of the Pirelli DIABLO Superbike tire in 2005. In 2008, the first DIABLO Supercorsa SP street tire made its debut. The DIABLO Supercorsa family of tires are designed to be used by pro racers and street riders alike. As Pirelli continued to make technological advancements with the racing tire, those same innovations were incorporated into the Supercorsa SP tire, as well. The “SP” in Supercorsa SP V4 stands for “Sport Production.” While it is positioned as a street tire, it is also a great choice for track day enthusiasts thanks to its excellent handling and dry grip characteristics. Plus, the tire bead is designed to provide maximum performance whether the tire pressure is optimally set for the street or the track. Your customer can ride to the track, participate in a track day, then ride home, all on the same tire.

ince the first Pirelli DIABLO Supercorsa tire hit the streets in 2007, it has become an example of Pirelli’s motto: “We sell what we race, and we race what we sell.” Derived from years of experience at the highest levels of roadracing, the DIABLO Supercorsa SP tire is a supersport tire for the street, but it has the heart of a racing tire. The Pirelli DIABLO Supercorsa V4 tire is the fourth generation of what has become one of the most successful motorcycle tires in Pirelli’s history. More than 3.5 million of them have been sold, and Pirelli is looking forward to equipping a range of the top supersport and naked bikes with this latest generation of the tire. The introduction of the DIABLO Supercorsa V4 tire represents the culmination of Pirelli’s rollout of the fourthgeneration DIABLO range of racing and sport tires. The

The Supercorsa SP V4 tire’s street-oriented features include a faster warm-up time and higher mileage in comparison to its racing counterparts. In all, the Supercorsa SP V4 tire gives riders track-derived performance in a street-savvy package.
COMPETITION COMPOUND The DIABLO Supercorsa SP V4 tire includes a dual compound makeup for the front and rear, making it the first iteration of this tire to have a dual compound in the front. The base compound on the front tire is rich in silica, providing temperature stability and consistency in both hot and cold weather conditions. The rear base compound is slightly softer than the one used for the front, and it has a 100 percent carbon black formulation. On the shoulders of both the front and rear tire, the compound is the same one used by the racing version of the Supercorsa tire, with a 100 percent carbon black formulation, outstanding handling, and maximum grip even at full lean.

an increased contact patch both going into and at full lean, resulting in improved grip through the corners. The tread pattern itself has a long list of competition-derived characteristics. Pirelli designed the Supercorsa tire with an interrupted FLASH design. This pattern improves water displacement, increases the size of the contact patch, reduces warm-up time, and provides a more even, consistent performance.
NIMBLE PROFILE The DIABLO Superbike slick tire and the Supercorsa SP V4 tire share a similar multi-radius profile, which is ideal for abrupt direction changes. The goal of the profile is to smooth out even the most aggressive riding styles and to provide excellent, consistent reaction to the rider’s input. The front Supercorsa SP V4 tire has a profile designed to improve handling, so a rider can lean into corners earlier and flick the bike quickly and smoothly. The front profile extends the contact patch while leaning to improve stability, too.
SIZE SPECIFIC Pirelli didn’t take a “one size fits all” approach for the Supercorsa SP V4 tire. Each size available has its own specialized structure, which has been dialed in for optimal performance in conjunction with the width of the profile for that size. Details like the proportions of the compound and the arrangement of the tread pattern have all been considered. Additionally, the Supercorsa SP V4’s upgraded materials, combined with a wider section of structural cords, give the tire improved rigidity and shock-absorbing capabilities. ■

N
o different than a motorcycle, there are three main contact points needed for a bicycle rider to maintain proper control of their bike – the handlebars, saddle and the pedals (footpegs). Long a pioneer in bicycle pedal technology, the Southern California-based Crankbrothers offers a full range of pedals that includes a complete family of both platform and clipless options. Despite the name that infers just the opposite, clipless pedals mimic ski bindings where the riders’ shoes are clipped onto the pedals. Clipless pedals are often preferred by more experienced riders looking to maximize the power put into their pedal stroke. Platform pedals (aka flats) are designed for the shoe to sit on top of the pedal sans any clip to best maximize freedom of movement. This is especially helpful to accommodate quick and easy dabs when pedaling through tight trail sections. Although Crankbrothers first introduced a line of revolutionary clipless pedals, in the years since, the company has developed a line of performance-oriented platform pedals. The Stamp pedals are available with either a nylon composite (Stamp 1 Gen 1) or higher-end 6061 aluminum (Stamp 7) body that has up to 10 removable traction pins on each side to provide added grip. Both pedals have a five-year warranty, and the Stamps are available with a small or large size platform. New for 2024 are the Stamp 1 Gen 2 pedals that share the composite body and two-size configuration of the Stamp 1, but instead of a flat platform surface they share the Stamp 7’s thin concave shape and one-piece pin design for increased grip.
the big news is the addition of the family of SOS (Save Our Shred) integrated tools. They are designed to address a host of common mechanical surprises to help keep your customers riding smoothly and safely. As most modern bike frames come with either water bottle and/or accessory bosses, they are the intended foundation to mount the SOS tools. The TT17 (Twin Tube17) is a premium option in the line and essentially doubles as a bolt-on toolbox. With two tubes to incorporate a 17-bit multi-tool with all the essentials to address virtually any mechanical issue out on the trail. The BC18 (Bottle Cage18) is a clever solution to use the space around the water bottle to store multi-tool and flat tire repair components. The TS2(Tube Storage2) is an accessory mount that allows customers to bring a spare innertube or other items (think a lightweight jacket or stash bag) that will fit inside the adjustable Velcro strap. ■

uture innovations and past experiences tend to be intertwined, and motorcycle components are no exception. Two-wheeled culture and the products it has inspired are rooted in a passion that goes back to the earliest days of motorcycling. Narrow this focus down to one company in the aftermarket industry, such as Rick’s Motorsport Electrics, and the story does not change. Rick’s Motorsport Electrics was born back in the late ’70s after motorcycle lover Rick Shaw – through his experiences with his repair shop and salvage yard – recognized a need for an affordable alternative to OE electrical components that didn’t sacrifice quality. The proceeding years of rebuilding motorcycle stators and rotors gave way to an evolution of a complete OEM replacement electrical component manufacturing operation.

In fact, Amanda and Michael are more involved than ever as they’ve proudly accepted being handed the reins of Rick’s Motorsports Electrics Preserving the company’s heritage while looking ahead to the future of the industry is a vision that remains a priority for Amanda and Michael, and it’s something that will remain instilled in every facet of Rick’s Motorsport Electrics. A simple look through Rick’s product range show that this connection to the past and future is evident in the products and models they support. While they’re considered vintage now, many early models remain popular among motorcycle enthusiasts, and Rick’s proudly supports them with quality, affordable products, just like they did from day one. For example, Rick’s new Hot Shot starter motor for Honda CB350 and 360 models applies modern-day technology to bring starting reliability to these iconic motorcycles. Other examples of this modern-tech-meets-classic-moto concept from Rick’s are evident in its Hot Shot charging kits that convert outdated charging systems to updated designs, as well as in its lithium-ion-compatible rectifier regulators. Rick’s has no intention of letting off the throttle with vintage model support, but that doesn’t mean they’re not pushing forward. Rick’s has been charging ahead supporting current and future models, plus expanding into new market segments. From CBR600RR street models to off-road Yamahas, customers can find the reliable starters and stators they need to keep their machines functioning. TIRES
By the Numbers
One Tire Brand, Dozens of Championships Moose Racing/ Yamaha rider Liam Draper won the GNCC XC2 championship on Dunlop tires.

isting all the championships Dunlop won during the 2023 racing season would be nice, but we just don’t have room for all of them. Racing is a big part of Dunlop’s heritage, and the brand’s continued dominance this season only emphasizes just how competitive the tires are. This year, Dunlop continued to dominate the top levels of off-road racing, winning every AMA Pro Supercross and Motocross championship for the 14th year in a row. The popular Dunlop MX34 tire was the primary choice for this year’s champions. Some of the most competitive racing of the season was in the Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) championship. The XC1 title came down to the final race of the season, where the top five riders were separated at the finish line by only 5½ seconds. It was Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Craig Delong who took home the championship, making it his first-ever XC1 title and another win for Dunlop. Dunlop riders also took home the top spots in GNCC’s other pro classes. Liam Draper won the XC2 championship, Toby Cleveland clinched the XC3 championship and Rachael Archer claimed the WXC title. There were 36 titles up for grabs at this year’s Loretta Lynn’s Amateur Nationals, and Dunlop riders absolutely dominated the scene by winning 30 of them. Over the past 10 years, Dunlop riders have won 93 percent of the championships at Loretta Lynn’s. There were even two years in which Dunlop won every single championship

at the event. So, while this year’s success is definitely something for Dunlop to celebrate, it’s not a surprise. The win percentage was even better at Mini Os, where Dunlop riders took 87 of the 88 titles. Other significant championships that Dunlop riders claimed this year include the WORCS Pro 450 class championship, which Justin Hoeft won on his Purvies Racing Yamaha. Grant Baylor won his second consecutive National Enduro Pro 1 championship on his Monster Energy Babbitts Kawasaki. In the National Hound and Hare Association series, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Off-Road Team’s Dalton Shirey clinched the Pro class, and Rachel Stout took the Pro Women’s class championship. In the US Sprint Enduro series, Dunlop riders won all three Pro classes, including the Women’s class win for AmPro Yamaha’s Rachael Archer. Along with her WXC dominance, that makes two championships for her this year. Dunlop’s involvement in racing is about more than bragging rights. Competition is one of the best places to develop a tire, as was the case with the Geomax EN91EX. It was designed specifically for the types of terrain riders face in AMA Hard Enduro competition. The tire proved its worth, as FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Trystan Hart took the Pro class championship in that series. ■

HELMETS
Supertech R10
A High-Tech Street/Race Helmet
M
ore than 10 years of development and testing went into the Supertech family of helmets from Alpinestars. Now, the Supertech R10 helmet designed for street and roadracing joins this high-tech helmet lineup. The SR10 is available in 6 sizes – XS through 2XL – and it comes in both solid colors and graphics. While protection was the number one goal while designing the SR10 helmet, the team at Alpinestars had a lot of other boxes to check, too. This helmet is designed for excellent ventilation and comfort as well as light weight and aerodynamics. All of this begins with the SR10’s shell. It is constructed with an advanced molding technology that unites three layers. The 3K high-density carbon outer layer provides strength as well as efficient energy dissipation. Underneath, the uni-directional carbon composite layer bolsters radial strength, preventing compression without compromising deflection of impact energy. The inner aramid fiber layer is there to protect against penetration. The shell is made in four different sizes for improved fit. The eight-piece, multi-density EPS liner is also made in multiple sizes, and its six different densities are positioned to help absorb impact energy. The Supertech SR10 also includes a low-friction surface on the EPS liner. The inner surface of the liner is polished to be incredibly smooth, then it is specially coated to further reduce friction. This allows the helmet’s comfort liner to move against the EPS liner, which improves rotational force management. What that means is that in the event of an impact, the rider’s head moves independently inside the helmet. In addition to reducing the amount of force transmitted to the rider’s head, brain, neck and spine, this design also reduces the possibility of a concussion. The comfort liner includes 3D foam in the cheek pads, the ERS emergency extraction system, and a channel for a hydration hose. Alpinestars goes beyond the liner when it comes to comfort. The SR10 has the brand’s patented A-Head fitment system. The rider can adjust both the height and angle at which the helmet sits on their head thanks to a microadjustable pad connected to the helmet’s inner EPS liner. This allows for a more tailored helmet fit than ever before, so the rider can be as comfortable as possible. Another comfort touch is found in the SR10’s extensive ventilation system, which includes seven intake vents and

four exhaust ports. All of them can be closed to control the amount of airflow into the helmet. Alpinestars designed the SR10 for outstanding aerodynamics. The helmet arrives with a standard spoiler and a longer race version. Both are fitted with the brand’s patented release system, so the spoilers detach from the shell in an impact to reduce potential rotational energy. There are also lateral winglets that improve aerodynamic stability and reduce drag. ■

Pedaling Protection
Helmets for a Range of Riding Styles
elmets are the one piece of protective gear needed by cyclists and motorcyclists, alike. Since 2008, Kali has been in the business of designing helmets that prioritize head protection for both the pedal and throttle communities.
H
Along with Kali’s own Composite Fusion design that uses a thin layer of Rheon low density foam to help reduce both rotational and low-G forces, the solid, unibody construction and monocoque chin bar brings maximum protection for any avid trail rider.
Having earlier pioneered a unique, in-mold design for a line of motorcycle helmets, as an avid cyclist, Kali founder Brad Waldron realized that introducing his Composite Fusion technology to a bicycle helmet would be a logical step. Thus, Kali’s full line of cycling helmets was born, with a range of them available through Parts Unlimited.
Due to the popularity of Invader 2.0, Kali has recently expanded the line to include an open face version with the OF Invader (Open Face). This new model is essentially the Invader 2.0 helmet but without a chin bar which makes it a great option not only for mountain biking, but also BMX riding and E-bike commuting.
With the Invader 2.0, Kali provides a great balance between moto-inspired full-face protection and two key priorities – ventilation and weight. The lightweight helmet features 35 vents.
The OF Invader (Open Face), is essentially the Invader 2.0 helmet but without a chin bar. It’s a great option not only for mountain biking, but also BMX riding and E-bike commuting.
It was in 2018 when Waldron conceived the family of Invader helmets while out riding on his local trails. Although the sections he regularly rode weren’t as extreme as those found on a World Cup downhill course, they were still gnarly enough that made him realize that a full-face helmet would be a safer bet than the traditional half-shell style favored by road cyclists. “As I was getting older, I knew I wasn’t any getting faster,” he said, “but the bike technology had improved so much that I was riding faster!” And as we all know, with greater speed comes the need for greater protection. Key to the Invader’s design signature was finding a balance between moto inspired full-face protection without sacrificing two key priorities for cycling – ventilation and weight. Hitting the scale at just 640 grams (22.6 ounces), the Invader 2.0 provides ample ventilation via 35 vents.

Autoclutch Excellence Has Arrived

ince 2002 Rekluse has offered an autoclutch that allows off-road riders the option of using the clutch lever. This convenience, and the stall-free freedom it offers, changed the way people ride.
Rekluse’s new EXP 4.0 is smoother, more durable, and can handle more power than the company’s previous iteration, making it a perfect match for powerful modern off-road bikes and a beneficial accessory for riders at every level.
Rekluse has done it again with EXP 4.0. This new clutch is smoother, more durable and can handle more power, making it a perfect match for powerful modern off-road bikes and a beneficial accessory for riders at every level. “We were absorbing feedback from riders, and we knew there were areas where the EXP could be better,” says Andrew Wheeler, Engineering Manager at Rekluse. “Rather than make a minor update to EXP 3.0, we decided to take it back to the drawing board and really do the work to give our customers the best possible product.”

EXP Improvements
For almost a decade, Teflon pads within the wedges facilitated a sliding motion to expand the ring. EXP 4.0 uses rollers, drastically improving engagement feel.
The redevelopment process took the better part of three years, and resulted in a more rigid base design made from a new alloy. There are also new wedges with rolling elements, application of Rekluse’s TorqDrive friction-pad design, improved engagement curves that have been tailored to each make and model, and the option to more finely tune that curve. With these changes the new EXP 4.0 can handle greater loads while providing more direct power delivery for even better rider control and confidence.
EXP 4.0 disks were developed and tested to complement the engine characteristics of a wide variety of modern bikes.
A priority for EXP 4.0 was improved strength and torque capacity. “We redesigned the bases of our EXP assembly to integrate a wall around the inner diameter that really improves rigidity,” Wheeler says. Furthermore, the aluminum bases are machined from a new alloy that’s better suited to the heat of an engine’s interior. “Previously we used 7075, but the new alloy is actually stronger at the elevated temperatures that the clutch experiences under hard use,” says Wheeler. Another improvement for EXP 4.0 is the new expansion strategy. For almost a decade, Teflon pads within the wedges facilitated a sliding motion to expand the ring. EXP 4.0 uses rollers, drastically improving engagement feel. Another benefit of rolling instead of sliding is improved durability. “The Teflon in the EXP 3.0 wedges would wear down over time, but with the rollers there’s less material contact and that contact is rolling rather than sliding, so there’s practically no wear,” Wheeler says.

Earplugs Designed for Motorcyclists

hen you think about the motorcycling experience, sound is a big part of it. Unfortunately, not all of the sounds are good – or good for you. Alpine Hearing Protection’s MotoSafe earplugs filter out wind noise while letting the good sounds, like the roar of the engine and chatter from a communication device, come through clearly. Alpine Hearing Protection is new to LeMans, so dealers now have easy access to the brand’s three styles of MotoSafe earplugs, including Tour, Race and Pro. Designed specifically for use on motorcycles, MotoSafe earplugs are made to provide just the right amount of hearing protection, while also being comfortable, even under a helmet.
HEARING PROTECTION
Hearing Helper
MotoSafe earplugs feature a proprietary filter design, called AlpineAcousticFilter, which dampens the high, harmful wind noise but allows other sounds to come through clearly.
At 75mph, wind noise under the helmet averages 98 decibels. Just 7 minutes at that sound level can damage hearing, but noise has another effect, too; it can increase fatigue. Hearing protection can not only preserve hearing, but it can also make a long day of riding less tiring. MotoSafe earplugs feature a proprietary filter design, called AlpineAcousticFilter, which dampens the high, harmful wind noise but allows other sounds to come through clearly. This includes things like talking, navigation instructions and, of course, the sound of the engine.
A filter earplug is a lot different than a foam earplug. With foam, the ear canal is completely closed, so every sound is muffled. This can not only cause problems when it comes to communicating, but it can also give riders a sense of isolation from the world around them. Foam earplugs can also become uncomfortable after long periods. MotoSafe earplugs, on the other hand, are made from a thermoplastic material called AlpineThermoShape. The material adjusts to the ear since body heat makes it more pliable. The filter is flexible, too, so the plugs are much more comfortable. MotoSafe earplugs are designed to be reusable, and they can be used more than 100 times. And, to make removing them easy, they include a unique Minigrip. Just tug on the small, soft grip to take the earplugs out. Different types of riding require different levels of hearing protection. MotoSafe Tour earplugs provide medium protection, while MotoSafe Race earplugs have stronger protection for the louder sounds generated by riding at high speeds or while wearing an open-face helmet. Each MotoSafe Tour and Race package includes two earplugs, a travel pouch and an Alpine insertion tube. The MotoSafe Pro package includes a set of both the Tour and Race earplugs, a travel case, Alpine Clean cleaning spray and an Alpine insertion tube. ■

here’s a new brake pad on DP Brakes’ roster – the RDP X-Race Titanium, developed expressly as a high-friction front brake pad for track use. As a race-only pad, the new X-Race Titanium meets all the demands of Superbike racing, delivering optimal performance. How optimal? Enough for Canadian Superbike rider Ben Young to score his third career Superbike Championship this year. He did so using the new X-Race Titanium pad.
Like all high-performance DP Brakes, the X-Race Titanium has an industry high HH+ friction-rated sintered compound, a feature DP pioneered years ago, and still uses to this day. In fact, the new X-Race Titanium is based on DP’s highly successful RDP compound that carried Young to his first two CSBK Pro Superbike Championships.

Two other DP Brakes-sponsored riders won championships in 2023; Canadian racer David Mackay won the CSBK Pro Sportbike Championship. And, in Europe Antonio Montoya notched a pair of 600 Championships, first winning the European 600 title, then taking top 600-class honors in his home country of Spain. All three riders relied on the new XRace Titanium pad, the same pad available to riders through Parts Unlimited. ■

A Multipurpose Chain Tool
R
eplacing a riveted chain is one of those jobs that you just can’t do without the proper tools. You need to break the old chain, press on a new master link, and then properly flare the pin ends. Thankfully, you can tackle all those tasks with one piece of equipment – the PBR Chain Tool from Motion Pro. This thing is the Swiss Army knife of chain replacement. The PBR is a robust, multifunction tool that allows you to break, press and rivet both sealed and unsealed 520, 525 and 530 chains. The key to the PBR’s versatility is the anvil block, which has different faces for the tool’s various purposes. The anvil is indexed with letters (P-Press, B-Break and R-Rivet), so configuring the PBR for the next stage of the job is as easy as flipping the anvil around.
Motion Pro’s PBR Chain Tool is a multi-function piece of equipment designed for removing and replacing a riveted chain.
The PBR comes with both quad-stake and hollow-nose rivet tips as well as a spare drive pin, and everything is contained in a convenient storage case. The PBR is made from solid, heat-treated steel and is ideal for both professional
and home-mechanic use. Clamp the PBR in a vice or use the included handle for on-the-bike work; either way you’re set up with one of the industry’s best chain tools. ■

he FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship will be one to watch next year, thanks to the announcement about the latest team to join the series. Triumph will make its MX2 World Championship debut with Monster Energy Triumph Racing, and Braking will be providing the team’s rotors and brake pads. Monster Energy Triumph Racing will use the Braking EPTA off-road rotor on the front of its motorcycles, while Braking’s W-Fix rotor will be mounted at the rear.
Additionally, Monster Energy Triumph Racing will use Braking’s CM46 racing pads. Designed to withstand high temperatures and hard braking, the CM46 pads are an outstanding choice for racing. The compound provides powerful braking performance, and its characteristics remain consistent and fade-free even under the most extreme racing conditions. Monster Energy Triumph Racing will use the Braking EPTA off-road rotor on the front of its motorcycles in the FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship.
The front rotor features Braking’s floating EPTA Batfly rotor. Designed to dissipate heat quickly and efficiently, EPTA rotors include a connection structure that allows a more controlled radial/axial movement. That means there is a better load transfer between the braking track and the lightweight aluminum carrier. The result is consistent temperature control and performance.
Braking has created a powerful combination with its EPTA Batfly rotors and the CM46 pads, and the company is looking forward to seeing what the Monster Energy Triumph Racing riders can achieve with this braking setup. ■
