headquarters in Janesville. Fred also wanted to help me and agreed to run ads in my magazine for Drag Specialties. There was something about being seen in magazines that really appealed to him. He was a great salesman one-on-one, but I think what he liked was that one magazine ad reached thousands with his brand-building messages.

With Fred’s support I was able to continue along, but frankly Motorcycle Collector was expensive to print and just breaking even was becoming the goal. Some months I didn’t even do that. Then it hit me that if he liked running a couple of ads a month, maybe he’d really like to have a whole magazine with ads and editorials exclusively about the rapidly growing list of companies and brands that made up LeMans Corporation.

Sometime during the summer of 1993, I worked up a proposal based on a popular in-flight airline magazine for a publication that Parts Unlimited would sponsor. The idea was that from cover to cover, all of the ads and editorials would be for LeMans brands and products, and it would be mailed to all of their dealers. We would sell the ads to their vendors, write the stories, and do the production work. LeMans would send in the artwork for ads, photos, and details for the stories, and provide the dealer mailing list.

Ifirst got to know Fred Fox back in 1978 when I started a job selling ads for Motorcycle Dealer News. Fred became one of my accounts and we would talk every month about what new ad he was sending in. What was a given was that Parts Unlimited’s ad always needed to be placed on the first right-hand page of the magazine. He knew that every motorcycle dealer in the United States would get the magazine and he wanted them to see his ad before any other distributor. Fred wasn’t the biggest distributor yet, but he knew where he wanted to go and was already on the road to the top. Fast forward through the 1980s when I was at Bell Helmets for five years with Fred as one of our distributors. Then I returned for five more years at Motorcycle Dealer News. Drag Specialties was now a part of LeMans Corp and Fred ran multiple pages of the ads for both Parts Unlimited and Drag Specialties.

I went into business on my own in 1990 and was soon writing and self-publishing some motorcycle books. Then along came Motorcycle Collector Magazine, a publication I started about the antique and vintage side of the sport. I stayed in contact with Fred and helped him locate and buy most of the antique motorcycles that are still on display at the

After starting the conversation about the magazine on the phone, we had a dinner meeting one night in Newport Beach. I had all the details on one sheet of paper and there were just a few adjustments that he suggested to make it work better. With that, his words were: “I can’t say right now how many issues we can do, but let’s give it a try.”

Parts Magazine was born that night in 1993, and to this day 30 years later nothing on that sheet of paper ever changed. The first issue was published in March of 1994 and what started as a few issues quickly turned into six per year. A year later Fred called and said that Drag Specialties now wanted their own magazine, and we filled in the other six months with Drag Specialties Magazine. Then in 2010, the new Parts Europe warehouse opened in Germany. Yes, he wanted them to also have their own publication, Parts Europe Magazine, the quarterly publication that we produce for them in multiple languages.

Along the way, Fred called me more often than I called him. I never wanted to interrupt him while he was working on something more important. I knew he would call when he had something that needed to be discussed, and when he did, the first thing he’d say was, “Hey, it’s Fred.” Those are the words I’ll miss the most. Godspeed old friend. Thank you for believing in me and for all of your support through the years. ■

Respectfully,

FRED FOX Remembering 1936-2023

Fred Fox, founder of LeMans Corporation, the parent company of Parts Unlimited, passed away at age 86 in Orange County, California on Sunday, February 5th due to natural causes. Fred was an industry leader and pioneer of the modern era of powersports aftermarket distribution and promotion.

He was the only employee when he started his distributing business at his house in Janesville, Wisconsin in 1967. In the years to come, the company grew fast, and he incorporated as LeMans Corporation. He soon moved into a large warehouse and many brands were added along the way. Some became suppliers for Parts Unlimited and also Drag Specialties, which he acquired in 1988.

Fred was always a hands-on manager who oversaw every detail to make his organization grow into the industry leader that it is today. He made the decisions to buy the land, designed the facilities for the additional warehouses throughout the United States, plus Canada and Europe, built a National sales rep force, secured leading brands to carry, and invested heavily in promotion of

Parts Unlimited’s “We Support the Sport” campaign, which has been active since the 1990s.

Fred served on the Board of Directors of Motorcycle Industry Council from 1994 to 2007. He was inducted into numerous motorsports Halls of Fame, including the Snowmobile Hall of Fame (2002), AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame (2011) and Sturgis Hall of Fame (2018). He also received Lifetime Achievement awards from the V-Twin Industry (2004) and the Sturgis Hall of Fame in 2018.

A multi-year personal project culminated for Fred in 2009 when LeMans Corporation opened the Parts Europe warehouse in Trier, Germany. An all-new warehouse was built there with state-of-the-art order filling technology that resulted in dealer order fulfillment speed never seen before in the motorcycle industry. In addition to the Parts Europe warehouse, LeMans Corporation currently has warehouses in Sparks, Nevada; Ballston Spa, New York; Flat Rock, North Carolina; Grapevine, Texas; and Janesville, Wisconsin, plus Calgary and London, Ontario in Canada.

Fred was a pioneer of the snowmobile industry. Before starting Parts Unlimited, he created the Fox Trac snowmobile and won the first-ever Eagle River Derby on one in 1964. Fred said the LeMans business was a “Machine” and he was hands-on in every aspect, including the multi-level warehouse design.

Since 2021, I have been working on a biography of Fred’s life that we’ll publish later this year. The book, titled Unlimited The Fred Fox Story dates back to the years when his father and grandfather had a business in Janesville, building custom-made enclosed racks for trucks to transport cans of milk from dairy farms to the processing plants in Southern Wisconsin.

After graduating with an Engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1958, Fred went to work in the family business. The young college graduate saw a brighter future, however, for sport-related vehicles and when the go-kart craze exploded in America around 1960, Fred built a prototype kart in his spare time with a chassis made from light, but strong, chromoly tubing. Fox minibikes followed the go-karts, then Fred created the Fox Trac snowmobiles, which became nationally known when he drove one to victory at the first-ever Eagle River Snowmobile Derby in 1964.

Fred then went on his own and built his present-day company which is the largest privately-owned motorcycle distributing company in the world. Those who knew and worked with him had a deep appreciation for his work ethic, and especially one of his guiding principles of business that he referred to often: “Always be fair with customers, suppliers and employees.”

In the fall of 2021, Fred named Paul Langley to succeed him as Chairman/CEO at LeMans Corporation and retired from full time business activities. He is survived by his wife Paula, sons Steven, Brian and Craig, daughters Teri and Lori, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two brothers Bob and Stanley, sister Jeana and son Jeffery.

The staff at Don Emde Inc. extend our deepest condolences to the Fox family and the entire LeMans Corporation. ■

NEWS EVENTS AND Spring into Action

MOOSE RACING AND THOR RIDERS KEEP IT PINNED

It’s early in the 2023 season, and already THOR and Moose Racing-backed riders are heating up the U.S. off-road racing scene. They are coming on strong in nearly every national championship, from GNCC, U.S. Sprint Enduro and National Enduro back East, and WORCS, NGPC and AMA West Extreme Championship in the West.

THOR/KTM’s Johnny Girroir is an absolute freight train in the U.S. Sprint Enduro championship. He has seven wins from eight days of racing thus far, the only win being wrestled away going to Moose Racing-backed Zach Osborne, the AmPro Yamaha racer relying on his Supercross skills to nab Sunday’s win at round one. Thad Duvall, Moose Racing rider of the Coastal Racing GASGAS squad, is knocking on the door of a win in USSE, but will have to find a way to stop Girroir if he is going to challenge him for the title. At the halfway point of the series, Girroir has already amassed a 64-point lead.

Racing in the GNCC series is far closer, with THOR/KTM’s Ben starting to come alive in the championship. Kelley, stricken with a leg injury for much of last season, is defining grit as he keeps himself in the hunt while returning to form. At the Wild Boar GNCC, Kelley proved to be unbeatable at the place he has won the last three years in a row. Out West, THOR/KTM rider Dante Oliveira is picking up where he left off last season, lighting up the National Grand Prix Championship. The three-time and reigning NGPC champion earned wins at the TAFT NGPC and the Gold Rush Grand Prix, which hoisted him back to the points lead as of press time.

The AMA West Extreme Championship, also serving as part of the U.S. Hard Enduro Championship, is off and running, with THOR athlete Trystan Hart dominating both. The FMF KTM rider took wins at the King of the Motos, EndurofestHawaii and the Grinding Stone Hard Enduro.

The women of Moose Racing are duking it out, with AmPro Yamaha star Rachael Archer working hard to defend her GNCC WXC title. Archer locked in battle with Trail Jesters KTM rider and fellow Moose Racing athlete Korie Steede. So far, the duo is dominating the WXC podium with Steede taking the first two wins of the season, and Archer claiming the third. Only one second separated the duo at the finish of the Big Buck GNCC, and currently only one point separates them in the championship after three rounds. Archer is pulling double duty in the U.S. Sprint Enduro scene, where she is proving tough to beat. With six wins from eight days of racing, Archer has a near 50-point lead in the series at the halfway point.

Steede, meanwhile, is taking to the National Enduro series where she is taking on Moose Racing rider Rachel Gutish for the Women’s Elite class lead. Each with one win apiece so far, it will be an exciting battle.

Ryder Lafferty, of the Coastal Racing GASGAS crew, is also doing solid work in the National Enduro series, claiming second overall at the Sumter opening round. Lafferty currently leads the way in the ultra-competitive XC2 250 Pro ranks of GNCC, where he opened the season by taking the first two wins.

The Phoenix Honda team has its own set of Moose Racing stars in Ruy Barbosa and Cody Barnes. U.S. Sprint Enduro Pro 2 star Barnes continues to collect wins, and even carded third overall at round two in Georgia. But his win streak (which lasted nearly two years!) was broken in South Carolina when Barbosa took the Pro 2 win and third overall. ■

» We at Parts Magazine continue to look forward to a successful off-road season for Moose Racing and THOR in 2023.

Parts Unlimited and Drag Specialties Return to AIMExpo

Parts Unlimited and Drag Specialties returned to AIMExpo in Las Vegas in early February. In addition to showcasing the company’s brands with a full complement of catalogs, including the world-famous FatBook, the LeMans global leadership team was on hand to meet with dealers and attending Drag vendors.

The event’s highlights included a show-wide toast raised to LeMans Corporation’s late founder Fred Fox, who passed away February 5. The toast was proposed by Parts Magazine publisher and editor-in-chief Don Emde. ■

Reigning Grand National Champion and Parts Unlimited/Drag Specialties/ Indian rider Jared Mees came out victorious following an epic showdown featuring two of Progressive American Flat Track’s biggest stars at an epic Yamaha Senoia Short Track at Senoia Raceway in Senoia, Georgia.

The Mission SuperTwins presented by S&S Cycle king entered the weekend in March with his eyes on the prize. Following a quiet opener by his standards, Mees was at the top of his game in Senoia, locking down the top of the charts pretty much all day long. But then fellow racer Dallas Daniels arrived on Mees’ rear wheel and took the lead at half-distance, just as the two made their way into lapped traffic. The second half of the contest was relentless, with passes for the lead executed on nearly every lap, all the while slashing their way past slower riders.

Mees reclaimed the lead with twenty seconds remaining on the clock and then relied on the advantage of his decades of experience to ride to victory.

“Man, that was a duel… a battle… a fist fight in a phone booth,” Mees said. “We rode super clean; we didn’t touch. We came really close – but I didn’t want to give that one up. I felt if I could get in a rhythm early, I could maybe get a gap, but he hung tough. We want this championship bad. We want to keep the #1 plate.” ■

The 1990s was an incredibly busy decade for Parts Unlimited. With not one, but two major off-road apparel lines, the pages of Parts Magazine were filled with stories about Moose and THOR apparel products, plus boots, helmets, and related accessories. Top-level racers were signed and events were created to promote them. The Rocky Mountain 300 and UP300 rides became very popular for dealers, sales reps and vendors.

In addition to the hyper-active off-road business, there were also new things happening in the street bike market. Up to that point the street models brought in by Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki were referred to as a “UJM,” which stood for a Universal Japanese Motorcycle. Cobra’s Ken Boyko developed relationships with many of the top American managers with those companies and styling projects were conducted to show the possibilities that existed to make some amazing looking motorcycles out of the previous “Plain Jane” models coming from Japan. Each of their projects were featured in Parts Magazine.

A new addition to the calendar that year was the beginning of “Showcase” events at various warehouses, especially when new ones were built. The Showcases eventually became the NVP Product Expos that are currently held each year in Louisville and Madison. ■

1994 was the first year of publication for Parts Magazine and a major editorial effort went into supporting the launch of the waterproof Moose XCR off-road apparel line. Star riders Larry Roeseler (left) and Ty Davis were the THOR and Moose cover models for Parts Magazine’s first “Special Off-Road Issue” in 1996. In 1995, Parts Unlimited kicked off its “We Support the Sport” campaign which continues to this day.

LookingBack

Riders in Moose off-road gear scored many race victories in 1995, but none bigger than Ty Davis winning the 1995 National Enduro Championship or Rodney Smith’s 1995 National Reliability Enduro title. Rodney was also America’s top scoring rider in the prestigious ISDE.

By 1995, THOR was the AMA Supercross series sponsor and also sponsored Kawasaki factory riders Jeff Emig and Ryan Hughes. Emig made history in ’96 when he stopped Jeremy McGrath’s 13-race win streak at St. Louis. Jeff’s victory was THOR’s first Supercross premier class win.

Metric Cruisers went from being just a narrow market “niche” in the mid-1990s to a full-fledged segment of the motorcycle market. Suddenly, the look and style historically held by Harley-Davidson opened for riders of Japanese made motorcycles.

Southern California-based Cobra Engineering led the way with Metric Cruisers in the 1990s. Cobra’s Ken Boyko and Denny Berg began creating custom machines that Denny would work on all year to unveil at the annual dealer shows in February and in Parts Magazine.

Another new activity by LeMans Corporation in the late-1990s were the dealer opening house events, called Showcases. Showcase ’97 invited dealers, sales reps and vendors to come see the newly-built warehouse in Flat Rock, North Carolina, plus a motorcycle ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

RISE OF THE DO-ALL MOTORCYCLE

ADVENTURE/DUAL-SPORT RIDING REACHES NEW HEIGHTS

The Adventure/Dual-Sport segment of the motorcycle market continued to climb to new heights in 2022.

Although responsible for only 14 percent of new motorcycles purchased last year, ADV/Dual-Sport market share has grown +7 percent during the past decade, according to figures provided by the Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC). By units sold, sales of this segment in 2022 were up more than +150 percent compared to sales in 2012.

Historically a much smaller market niche compared to the larger Cruiser and Sport segments, ADV/Dual-Sport sales incredibly outpaced Sport sales for the first time in 2021 and Cruiser sales for the first time in 2022.

Trending right alongside those brisk vehicle sales is the booming aftermarket where riders can find everything from tires, luggage and auxiliary LED lighting to rugged accessories and

all-weather apparel designed to easily transition through different climates. All of this is available right there in those Parts Unlimited catalogs – the Helmet & Apparel, Street, and Tire & Service catalogs are a great place to start.

READY FOR UPGRADES

The MIC splits the ADV/Dual-Sport market between models sized 0-250cc and models sized Over 250cc. Dual-Sport bikes tend to represent the smaller-sized models while the ADV segment is made up of the larger models. Sales last year were split 16/84 in favor of the larger ADV offerings. So why are ADV/Dual-Sport models garnering greater market share?

Dual-Sport motorcycles can tackle mountain trails and roads with equal vigor, and their relatively low purchase price, standard operating platform and utility effectiveness makes

them a target for beginner and experienced riders alike. Ride them from town to trail, or hook them to the back of a RV for two-wheel adventure wherever your travels take you.

Reminiscent of standard road bikes but with longer travel suspensions, a compliant seating position, luggage racks, wind protection and the latest in two-wheeler technology, Adventure models have become the SUVs of the two-wheel world. Climb aboard and explore remote rural areas or hit the highway and head cross country utilizing all of the comfort and navigational aids inherent to these motorcycles.

In 2012, eight brands offered less than 50 ADV/Dual-Sport models. By 2022, 15 brands had more than 100 models within the segment. Market participants last year included Aprilia, BMW, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Husqvarna, Kawasaki, KTM, Moto Guzzi, Royal Enfield, Suzuki, Triumph, and Yamaha.

What’s hot? Everything from the smaller displacement Honda CRF300L, KTM 350 EXC-F and BMW G310 GS, to the mid-size Royal Enfield Himalayan, Kawasaki KLR650 and Yamaha Ténéré 700, to big-bore bikes like the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure, Triumph Tiger 1200 GT and Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250.

At the same time, venerable offerings like the Honda XR650L, Suzuki DR-Z400S and Yamaha XT250 also continue to be sought after.

For those customers looking to branch out from the limited OE parts, accessories and upgrade offerings, Parts Unlimited’s lineup of vendors has them covered. Starting in that Street catalog, Moose Racing has two luggage options – soft-sided luggage in the ADV 1 range that’s perfect for dual-sport outings and hard-sided aluminum saddlebags and topcases in the Kenai series. The latter is perfect for the large-displacement ADV machines often used for multi-state trips. Moose also offers a range of replacement windscreens with fitments for all the popular models.

No matter what motorcycle your customers are riding, tires are a necessity and having the right model for the right type of riding is imperative. As such, the Tire & Service catalog has a host of tires designed for multi-terrain performance. The lineup of vendors has tires that range from true 50/50 tires for on and off-road, to models that are 70% on-road / 30% off-road, 60/40, 75/25, 80/20, and even 85/15. The choice is clear, no matter what type of riding your customers are doing, Parts Unlimited has them covered.

Since the allure of Adventure riding for a lot of your customers is taking the road less traveled, riding gear for those adventures needs to be robust and provide protection from the elements as well as comfort for long days in the saddle.

Alpinestars has a range of options, including the Bogota Pro Drystar gear as well as its popular Andes Drystar v3 lineup of jackets and pants. All of Alpinestars ADV-related products are highly technical riding apparel with features built for convenience, airflow, comfort and protection.

ICON also has rugged and waterproof offerings for when the weather turns. The company’s PDX rain jackets and overpants help seal out water, keep riders warm and protect them against impacts with D3O protectors. The Stormhawk jacket and pant range also keeps things cozy and watertight with plenty of impact protection.

For 2023, THOR has introduced the Range line, a lineup that includes jackets, pants, a jersey and gloves, all of it ready for everything from everyday commutes to pure adventure on the roads and trails.

When it comes to helmets, that Helmet & Apparel catalog offers a dual-sport helmet from Z1R, the Range, which is available in a MIPS model and a non-MIPS option. ICON offers a dual-sport style helmet in the Airflight Moto, which features both a clear Fliteshield and a drop-down Dropshield. The Variant Pro from ICON also offers a visor-equipped take on the dual-purpose helmet, and is available in a range of styles.

With so many OEMs now producing Adventure and dualsport machines in a range of displacements and styles, now is the time to connect your customers with the aftermarket that is cranking out all the apparel, parts and accessories your customers could want to get suited and booted for adventure. ■

Exploring the Possibilities Tires for Confident Adventure Riding

Body copy here. ■

The MICHELIN Anakee Adventure tire is an ideal choice for riders who want to ride a light trail from time to time. It’s a long-lasting tire that doesn’t sacrifice the ability to go off-road.

There are a lot of possibilities for Adventure riders, like whether to stay on the road or to head out on trails. One possibility that no Adventure rider wants to encounter, though, is a problem with their tires. Michelin’s Adventure Touring tires are built to the company’s high-quality standards, which means Adventure riders can get on the road – or off of it – with complete confidence in their tires.

The three key tires in Michelin’s Adventure Touring lineup include the MICHELIN Road 6, MICHELIN Anakee Adventure and MICHELIN Anakee Wild.

The MICHELIN Road 6 tires are for your customers who ride an Adventure bike exclusively on paved roads. These tires offer a higher level of on-road performance over the previous iteration, the MICHELIN Road 5. In fact, when the two are compared, the MICHELIN Road 6 has 15 percent more grip in wet conditions and a 10-percent longer tread life. This is thanks to features like 100 percent MICHELIN Silica Technology tread compounds and MICHELIN Water Evergrip Technology. MICHELIN 2CT+ Technology is now on both the front and rear of the MICHELIN Road 6 tire, and it offers better rigidity at lean plus more stability.

Many Adventure riders stick primarily to paved roads, but like to venture into the woods or go for a ride on a light trail from time to time. The MICHELIN Anakee Adventure tire is an ideal choice for these riders because it’s a longlasting tire that doesn’t sacrifice the ability to go off-road. The tires might look aggressive, but the ride they deliver is anything but that, offering a smooth, quiet on-road riding experience.

From interstates to OHV routes, the MICHELIN Anakee Adventure tire provides tremendous wet grip thanks to new silica tread compounds. MICHELIN Bridge Block Technology and MICHELIN 2CT+ Technology on the rear tire combine to provide a stable on-road ride and precise handling.

While the MICHELIN Anakee Wild tire is technically a 50/50 tire, Michelin considers it a 100/100 tire since both its key on-road and off-road performance are equally good.

While the MICHELIN Anakee Wild tire is technically a 50/50 tire, Michelin considers it a 100/100 tire since both its key onroad and off-road performance are so good. This tire doesn’t compromise when it comes to performance. On the road, riders who are not concerned about extended mileage can rely on the excellent stability and wet grip of the MICHELIN Anakee Wild, even at high speed. Off-road, the tires make quick work of climbing the most challenging terrains.

The shoulder-to-shoulder design and tread of the MICHELIN Anakee Wild tire results in precise on-road handling as well as off-road traction that is especially adept at climbing out of ruts. Even soft terrain is no problem with the scoopshaped staggered tread blocks.

The MICHELIN Anakee Wild is the tire of choice for the Motorcycle Relief Project (www.motorelief.org), a nonprofit organization sponsored by Michelin that offers a therapeutic Adventure Touring experience for groups of veterans who suffer from PTSD.

These Adventure riders don’t limit themselves to one segment for exercising their love for two wheels, much like Vance & Hines.

The Adventure segment is now filled with new Adventure bikes of various sizes and features, all designed for maximum versatility. At the base of this wave of Adventure machines are a handful of well-established models from legacy manufacturers that have been tackling crossterrain since before Adventure was its own category, and

They say it takes one to know one, and Vance & Hines recognizes the pioneering performance of the GS line, which is why the dedicated V&H crew has developed the Adventure Hi-Output 500 slip-on exhaust. Designed specifically for the BMW GS boxer motor, this slip-on will give the BMW Teutonic flat twin engines a distinguishable, tuned exhaust note that takes adventure to the next level.

The Adventure Hi-Output 500 slip-on utilizes a robust, 5-inch diameter muffler canister with a stepped design constructed from high-grade, 304 stainless steel. A CNCmachined billet end cap and iconic Vance & Hines badge complete the look of this slip-on, delivering rugged, yet refined style.

True to Vance & Hines innovation, performance and sound standards, the Adventure Hi-Output 500 slip-on utilizes a proprietary baffle design inside the canister. This design helps it deliver a bold rumble Vance & Hines fans know and love, and riders everywhere will appreciate.

Additionally, this design allows the slip-on to meet SAE J2825 sound standards and 50-state emissions compliance. Match that with an optional, U.S. Forestry Service approved spark arrestor also available from Vance & Hines and your customers are fully equipped to be able to focus exclusively on the adventure ahead, no matter where they’re riding.

Adventure Hi-Output 500 slip-on exhausts are available for 2013 – 2018 BMW 1200 GS and GSA, as well as 2019 –2022 BMW R 1250 GS and GSA models. Your customers will appreciate hassle-free installation, as these slip-ons are compatible with BMW factory panniers and center stands. ■

Gear that Gets You There Textile

Luggage for Adventure and Dual Sport

When it comes to hitting the trails, a tail bag is essential and Nelson-Rigg’s Trails End collection offers two options, both perfect for stashing smaller items.

Adventure riding can be a challenge sometimes, but loading up beforehand shouldn’t be. Nelson-Rigg makes packing easier for Adventure and dual-sport riders so they can go wherever the journey takes them with the Trails End textile luggage collection.

The Trails End luggage collection gives riders the ability to mix and match to get just the right setup for their adventure. Big pieces will provide ample storage on a long ride, while a smaller bag is just right for a day on the trail. Many of the luggage pieces can also expand to provide extra storage space.

Every piece in the Trails End collection is constructed from Nelson-Rigg’s proprietary UltraMax® fabric. This sturdy fabric is designed to withstand the sun’s UV rays, and the fabric will not fade or change color. Like all the NelsonRigg luggage made with UltraMax, each piece of Trails End luggage comes with the company’s Lifetime Warranty, which includes no fading.

Another notable feature of the Trails End collection is that most of the luggage pieces have semi-rigid construction, so they hold their shape even when empty. It also makes it easier to access the items inside.

The latest items in Nelson-Rigg’s Trails End collection include the Light Tail Bag and Light Tank Bag. These bags are a great compact size for dual-sport and enduro riding, and they’re an ideal option for smaller displacement motorcycles.

Both bags have water-resistant lockable zippers to guard against water and dust. They mount with quick-release web straps, then turn into a convenient tote with a rubberized carry handle. The Light Tank Bag, which holds up to 4 liters of gear, includes a waterproof rain cover. The Light Tail Bag will accommodate 5.5 liters.

Of all the luggage in the Trails End collection, the Adventure Tank Bag and Dual-Sport saddlebags are two of the most popular. The Adventure Tank Bag can expand from a carrying capacity of 12 liters to 16.5 liters. The map pocket on top is touchscreen-friendly, and the base has a nonslip coating that won’t damage the paint. It comes with a waterproof rain cover, too.

The Dual-Sport saddlebags fit most off-road motorcycles, and the self-fastening and quick-release straps make them easy to take on and off. The main compartment will expand from 12 liters to 15 liters, and on the underside of the bag, there is a handy tool pouch.

The Trails End collection also includes the Adventure tail bag, which expands from 17.6 liters to 27.7 liters, and the Dual-Sport/Enduro tail bag, whose 6.5-liter size can zip out to 11 liters.

Smaller items include the front fender bag, rear fender bag and fuel bottle holder that mounts easily to any luggage equipped with MOLLE panels. ■

Adventure Ready Tactical and Practical Off-Road Gear

Motorcycles have had an interesting and unforgettable way of connecting people with new experiences. And, Adventure riding has made a name for itself, especially throughout the last few years, showing riders ranges of places they can go with their motorcycle, some gear, a group of riding buddies and a desire for a new experience.

Naturally, THOR has embraced the Adventure segment with a new line of tactical and practical adventure gear. Dubbed the Range line, THOR has built a complete collection from the pegs up, consisting of pants, jerseys, jackets and gloves. With this line, THOR wants to ensure riders’ adventures continue beyond expectations, year-round.

The Range line is designed and built to be versatile, durable and comfortable, and to serve as the optimal gear for your customers, whether they’re heading out on their favorite route, hopping on the road to work, or exploring entirely new places. Range pants are designed to deliver the protection and functionality needed for high-mileage adventures while maintaining the comfort and durability needed to withstand the demands of riding. THOR’s proprietary Dura Motion fabric is used throughout Range pants’ construction, providing simultaneous flexibility and durability. These pants are cut for an over-the-boot fit, but feature adjustments at the calf and the ankle so riders can remove any unwanted slop. Adjustability continues into the waist with a dual, side-cinch system complemented by reinforced seams throughout.

Critical for the unpredictable nature of adventure riding, Range pants are built to meet extreme waterproof ratings. Taped seams, waterproof zippers and a DWR coating all contribute to helping riders and their belongings remain protected from the elements. However, THOR knows every ride is not always cold and rainy, which is why Range pants are designed to be

extremely breathable when needed, too. This is thanks to strategically placed intake vents and a breathable, laminate coating implemented throughout the pants’ design.

Another critical component of adven ture riding is riders’ preparedness to protect themselves in the event things don’t exactly go as planned. Thank fully, THOR has called on the protective science of D3O® impact protection and implemented it into vented knee and hip pads for Range pants, providing an extra layer of absorption in those commonly impacted areas. Pants are not the only component from the Range line that feature D3O protection. Range jackets are the product of careful consideration of Adventure riders’ needs, including vented shoulder, elbow and a Viper Pro back pad all included. The D3O pads each have a dedicated internal pocket, keeping them secure when riders want them in and making removal easy when they want them out.

Much like Range pants, Range jackets are constructed with highly rated waterproof materials and design, including a DWR coating and waterproof zippers. These zippers can be found on high-volume pockets sleekly integrated into Range jackets, giving riders the convenience and peace of mind to keep their belongings close.

Range jackets are extremely comfortable. In addition to Dura-Motion fabric paneling for maneuverability, these jackets feature a removable, quilted thermal liner with a soft touch collar. This not only provides comfort to the touch, but helps keep riders warm on cold days.

Underneath the jackets, riders will enjoy the theme of flexibility, durability and comfort carried through to Range jerseys. These jerseys feature vented side panels to promote air flow, moisture wicking main body fabric and four-way stretch, abrasion resistant sleeves, all contributing to a comfortable jersey ready for miles of adventure.

The Range adventure gear ensemble would not be complete without sturdy, protective gloves. Unlike motocross, adventure riders’ hands see hours of nonstop riding, and gloves that help reduce fatigue while providing plenty of protection are a great option.

Range gloves achieve the same waterproof ratings as the jacket and pants complemented by an inset, plastic knuckle cover. The gloves’ palm and finger materials are touchscreen compatible, crucial for operating phones or navigation devices on the go. Plus, Range gloves even have a built-in goggle and shield squeegee, a great feature that comes in handy on the road. ■

» With a comprehensive lineup of Adventure gear executed with well thought-out designs, Range truly pushes long-ride performance beyond expectations. Power Boost Chain Care Kits for Maximum Performance

Without a properly functioning chain, a motorcycle is going to have a tough time getting down the road or trail. The chain is that vital link between the engine and the rear tire, so what’s the point of having a perfectly tuned motor if power isn’t being properly transferred due to a poorly performing chain?

Maxima makes it easy to keep that link strong with its two Maxima chain care kits. The chain care kit featuring Chain Wax is especially popular with Adventure riders, and the chain care kit with Chain Guard is a good all-around choice for any type of bike.

In addition to the Chain Wax or Synthetic Chain Guard, each kit also includes Clean Up and Multi-Purpose Penetrant Lube (MPPL). The three products in each kit combine to keep chains performing at an optimal level, which in turn increases horsepower while also extending the chain and sprocket life.

Maxima’s Chain Wax has a unique ParaFilm formula, which sprays on as a liquid so it thoroughly penetrates the chain, then sets up as a soft, waxy film. One of the reasons the chain care kit with Chain Wax is so popular with Adventure riders is because the Chain Wax performs well in both extremely dry and extremely wet environments. Wherever an Adventure bike can go, so can Chain Wax, which creates an effective seal between the chain and the elements.

Maxima designed its Synthetic Chain Guard for all conditions, wet and dry. The ester-fortified formula penetrates deep into the chain and forms a strong connection that allows it to cling to the chain’s surfaces. Fling-off is minimal, so the chain remains well-lubricated.

Both Chain Wax and Synthetic Chain Guard include additives which eliminate corrosion and minimize chain stretch and wear.

Keeping chains protected from the environment is important, but so is keeping them clean. Maxima designed Clean Up as a professional-strength chain cleaner to get old lube, dirt, sand, mud and other contaminants off the chain. Suitable for O-ring, X-ring and Z-ring chains, Clean Up won’t harm the various metal surfaces or rubber O-rings. Just spray it on and rinse.

MPPL is one of those all-purpose lubes that customers might want to use on more than just their motorcycles. Ideal even for things around the house, like hinges and locks, MPPL penetrates deep into the chain to displace water and protect it from rust and corrosion. Maxima’s proprietary formula creates a durable film that also guards against wear.

Each Maxima chain care kit includes a 17.1-ounce can of Clean Up, a 14.5-ounce can of MPPL and an 18.1-ounce can of either Chain Wax or Synthetic Chain Guard. ■

Adventure Excellence A

Helmet for All Terrain

Motorcyclists have to manage risk every time they head out for a ride. For Adventure riders, the risks of riding span from the surface streets and highways of the paved world to the rough and unpredictable terrain of fire roads and trails. With all those variables it’s more important than ever that Adventure riders wear the right protective equipment, and when it comes to a helmet, Arai’s XD-4 is an excellent choice.

Just like ADV motorcycles, the XD-4 is versatile and capable, and combines features pulled from Arai’s roadracing line as well as its motocross lineup. With a sleek and aerodynamic shell and a removable peak, the XD-4 is at home at speed on the highway or while forging new trails in the woods. And, regardless of where your customers wear the XD-4, they’ll be protected by a premium helmet that is Snell M2020 approved.

Offered in a variety of graphics and colors, the XD-4 is packed with comfort and safety features that make it a great option. On the outside, there are adjustable brow vents as well as chin and cowl vents plus exhaust ports along the rear diffuser to provide outstanding ventilation. Brow vents integrated into the visor offer added airflow, and the XD-4 features an optional anti-fog treated shield to help maintain clear vision.

Inside the XD-4, your customer’s head will be cradled by a carefully designed interior. The Dry-Cool liner is great for long-haul comfort and is fully removable for washing. Likewise, the cheek pads and chin-strap covers come off for cleaning. To enhance comfort and help the XD-4 fit different head shapes, it incorporates Arai’s FCS (Facial Contour Support) system, and 5mm layers of padding on the temples and cheek pads that can be peeled away to customize the helmet’s fit.

Comfort and style are all well and good, but a helmet’s top priority is protection. As with all Arai helmets, the XD-4 is designed to mitigate impact energy by deflecting and avoiding energy as much as possible through glancing off of surfaces. As many riding impacts are off center, or come at an angle, the intrusion of energy might be diminished as the helmet may skip or slide over obstacles avoiding some of the energy.

In those scenarios, the helmet’s ability to glance off greatly reduces the energy the internal EPS liner has to absorb. To help the XD-4 achieve a high level of glancingoff ability, the shell is made incredibly strong, round and smooth. The shell uses a proprietary material known as Super Fiber which is six times more costly than conventional fiberglass. The shell is designed in concert with the one-piece, multi-density EPS liner. This energy absorbing complex is carefully tuned and specific to each of the XD4’s different shell sizes. ■

THE ARAI DIFFERENCE

No matter how good a helmet is, the amount of energy that can be absorbed is inherently limited. Faced with an impact that exceeds that limit, Arai’s belief is that avoiding energy by Glancing Off is essential to keeping that energy away from the inside of the helmet.

Arai is still a small, family-owned company driven by the same mission through three generations – three generations of riders. We at Arai are motorcycle enthusiasts. We ride. We build each Arai helmet as if we’re creating it for one of our own – a brother, a father, a husband, a mother, a sister.

Arai’s mission has always been the protection and comfort of every person who chooses an Arai helmet. Our foundational principles of protection first, exceptional quality, and rider comfort have never been forgotten in over six decades of helmet design and manufacturing. This is Arai Helmet.

Recycled Materials in Riding Gear Sustainable Style

There are so many things to talk about regarding the new Alpinestars Bogota Pro Drystar jacket and pants, it’s hard to know where to start.

The most straightforward description is that the Bogota set is Adventure Touring focused apparel with a three-layer “liner to drop” style for all-season riding. But that’s only telling part of the story.

Perhaps the most significant thing about the Bogota jacket is that it is the first Alpinestars product to be constructed with sustainable materials. The jacket’s main fabric is made from 100 percent recycled Nylon. Through a process known as pre-consumer recycling, the jacket’s raw materials are production scraps. The certified recycled material is used for 65 percent of the Bogota’s outer shell surface, proving that recycled materials can still have incredible durability and abrasion resistance.

The Bogota jacket is designed for Adventure Touring, both on and off the paved roads. The recycled, microripstop outer shell is paired with a detachable Drystar waterproof liner that can be worn on the inside or outside of the jacket. The liner provides superior breathability, so riders stay comfortable in all conditions. There is also a full-sleeve thermal lining that is detachable. To make the jacket even more weatherproof, it also has a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment.

Alpinestars designed the Bogota with a system that allows the three layers to be configured to the conditions quickly and easily. In addition to making changes in the liner and detachable thermal sleeve lining, the Bogota jacket can also be configured for airflow. There are extensive ventilation panels on the chest, back and arms, and they are designed to be easy to operate for on-the-go climate control. Other comfort considerations include cuff and collar closures that are easy to adjust, even with gloves on.

The Bogota jacket comes equipped with Level 2 Nucleon Flex Pro shoulder and elbow armor. Stretch panel inserts are ready to accommodate the Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 Airbag System, as well as back and chest inserts.

The Bogota Pro Drystar pants are just as versatile as the Bogota jacket, and they are designed for that perfect blend of protection, comfort and all-weather performance, making them an ideal choice for Adventure riders. They are also made from recycled materials.

The Drystar liner and DWR treatment on the outer shell of the pants ensure a dry ride. Like the jacket, the waterproof Drystar liner can be worn inside or over the pants, depending on the weather.

Large ventilation panels on the thighs make sure legs stay cool even on hot days. The Level 2 CE Nucleon Flex Pro knee armor and Bio-Flex hip armor guard against impacts while still providing a comfortable fit and stance on the bike.

Alpinestars offers the Bogota Pro Drystar pants in two models; regular and summer. The regular version has a detachable thermal liner. ■

Regina Chain understands that, offering its popular HPE chains (525 and 520 sizing) in 10 pre-measured chain lengths ranging from 104 to 128 links, depending on the specified motorcycle application. Balancing Act An Adventure Tire for Road and Trail

When it comes to choosing the right Adventure tire, great touring performance and wet traction on paved roads are important features a lot of riders are looking for. At the same time, Bridgestone realized plenty of riders wanted those things plus a more aggressive tread design and light off-road capabilities. The result is the Bridgestone Battlax Adventure Trail AT41.

The Battlax Adventure Trail AT41 sits nicely between the Battlax Adventurecross AX41 and the Battlax Adventure A41, completing the brand’s Adventure tire lineup. The Battlax Adventurecross AX41 is an off-road oriented tire, with a 40-percent on-road/60-percent off-road mix, while the Battlax A41 has an on-road orientation thanks to its 90/10 mix.

In the middle of those two is the Battlax Adventure Trail AT41, which has an 80-percent on-road, 20-percent offroad design. It is an ideal choice for riders who tend to prefer riding on paved roads but still want the option to do some light off-road riding from time to time.

Bridgestone introduced a new compound for the front tire which both improves wear life and increases wet traction. On the rear, Bridgestone’s 3LC + Cap & Base technology bolsters traction in both wet and dry conditions. These features combined with an optimized groove design give the Battlax Adventure Trail AT41 confidence-inspiring traction in the wet, as well as improved wet braking and water drainage.

Altogether, Adventure riders can be confident that the Battlax Adventure Trail AT41 will perform on paved roads or off them, and in all kinds of weather conditions, making this a great all-around tire choice.

Riders can also expect a predictable, stable ride with these tires thanks to Bridgestone’s MS Belt technology and a new block pattern that ensures firm footing on paved roads and during those lighter off-road rides, like on fire roads and some trails.

For those riders who remain almost exclusively on paved roads, the Bridgestone Battlax Adventure A41 tires might be their preferred choice. These tires feature the highest level of wet performance on paved roads, and they are popular for Adventure Touring excursions.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Battlax Adventurecross AX41 tires were designed with a tread pattern, compound and high cross-sectional area geared toward off-road traction. For riding on paved roads, Bridgestone’s Even-Wear Design on the tread blocks reduce deformation and keep the ride smooth. ■

Rolling Right Great New Style with a Wicked Warranty

High Lifter Tire & Wheel has the pedal to the metal and has just rolled out the appealing Appex Alloy HL21, HL22, and HL23 wheel styles. With these three models and many more from High Lifter, your customers are sure to see something they like. Plus, they can rest easy knowing all High Lifter hoops come with a no-hassle Lifetime Structural Warranty.

The HL21 offers an aggressive look with a curved, split-spoke design that’s reminiscent of a spider’s legs. The HL22 is a little leaner and sharper, with a relieved, eight-spoke arrangement. Then, there’s the burly HL23, which has a unique meshed split-spoke design that fully supports the rim drum and contributes to this wheel’s impressive 1,200-pound load rating. The HL23 also offers an 8mm bead lock supported by Grade 8 hardware, and is available in 14-inch and 15-inch sizes in Matte Black and Matte Gunmetal Grey.

As a direct replacement for the common 14-inch wheel size, the HL22 is a great option, offering a 1,000-pound load rating in Gloss Black, Gloss Black/Machined, or Matte Gunmetal Grey/Machined. If your customers are looking to step up to a larger-diameter wheel, the HL21 can go huge! It’s available in 14-inch, 20-inch, 22-inch, and 24inch diameters, providing the ability to mount massive tires and dramatically increase ground clearance.

Speaking of clearance, upgrading to larger-diameter wheels not only boosts ground clearance and changes the proportions of the vehicle for a burly look, but bigger wheels also add caliper clearance, which is an important safety consideration.

While warranty claims are rare for High Lifter wheels, one of the top reasons for damage is a rock getting jammed between the rim drum and the brake caliper and cracking the wheel, the company says. On stock, smaller-diameter wheels, the clearance between the caliper and rim may be as tight as a ½ inch, leaving precious little space for the many rocks that get flung up as your customers ride across loose terrain. Upgrading to a larger wheel buys more clearance between the rim and caliper, providing crucial clearance for the rocks and debris that inevitably get kicked up on the trail.

Whether it’s due to a trapped rock or just rolling too hard on the trail, if your customers bend or break a High Lifter rim, the company will replace it for free. It doesn’t matter how the wheel got damaged; High Lifter stands behind its Lifetime Structural Warranty, which gives your customers huge peace of mind and is a great selling point for you as a dealer. ■

If your customers are looking for a larger-diameter wheel, the HL21 is available in 14-inch, 20-inch, 22-inch, and 24-inch diameters, providing the ability to mount massive tires and dramatically increase ground clearance.

» From style to stance to caliper clearance, there are a lot of reasons for your customers to slap on a fresh set of wheels. Contact your Parts Unlimited rep for more info and check out the ATV & UTV catalog and www.parts-unlimited.com.

The Airform Brozak not only features one of ICON’s dark and distinctive graphics, it’s also packed with MIPS Brain Protection System technology.

What Lies Beneath High-Tech Street Helmets

The Airform Counterstrike also features MIPS in addition to such features as the Internal DropShield, Hydradry liner and plenty of venting for cooling airflow.

Like most of ICON’s designs, the new Airform MIPS Brozak features a graphic that toes the line between cutesy and menacing – exactly what one might expect from a brand known for pushing boundaries. However, with this helmet and its more sedate counterpart, the Airform MIPS Counterstrike, it’s what’s inside that really counts. As the name says, these two helmets come equipped with the MIPS Brain Protection System (BPS). This rotational-reduction system can reduce harmful forces transmitted to the brain by allowing a slight uncoupled movement of the shell and liner during a crash. This is possible thanks to a thin, low-friction layer that is inserted between the shell and the EPS liner, which enables a slight sliding motion in all directions in the event of an impact.

MIPS BPS is not new to ICON since it can already be found in the company’s Airflite helmets, but this is the first time the revolutionary system has been available in an Airform helmet.

Riders who want the latest technology in helmet design can opt for the Brozak graphic or the Counterstrike, which combines ICON’s matte Rubatone finish and 3D lift graphics up front with a high-gloss finish in the rear of the helmet.

Whichever exterior look riders go for, the insides are the same. In addition to the MIPS BPS, the Airform MIPS helmet has an internal DropShield, which is easy to raise and lower with a lever that can be operated even with gloves on. It pairs with the fog-free ICON Optics shield so riders can transition from day to night riding with one easy flick of a finger.

The Hydradry interior liner wicks moisture away from a rider’s skin to keep things cool and dry, and it can be removed for washing. Adding to the cool factor are the Airform’s four air intakes, which pull air through deep channels in the EPS foam liner and out the rear exhaust port.

The Airform is a solid street helmet that shares DNA with ICON’s Airframe Pro and Airflite helmets, which are more performance and competition oriented. The smaller shell profile reduces overall weight, but the helmet still maintains its World Standard helmet designation, meaning it meets DOT, ECE 22.06 and PSC compliance for certification. The ergonomic design of the Airform includes a neckline that makes putting it on and taking it off comfortable and easy.

The Airform MIPS Brozak and Counterstrike can be customized, too. In addition to different tints and finishes for the Optics shield and internal DropShield, ICON also offers the interchangeable rear spoiler in six different colors. ■

Passing the Test Putting Tires Through Their Paces

And that’s just the paved areas of the proving grounds. There is also an off-road motorcycle area dedicated to testing Dunlop’s offroad motorcycle tires. It includes a Supercross track, a motocross track and a wooded area with hare scramble courses. The off-road motorcycle area is where tires like the Dunlop Geomax MX14 have been put through scenarios for everything from simulated races to a leisurely trail ride. Tires like the Trailmax Mission are put through their paces on both the paved and off-road areas.

Altogether, the proving grounds allow a Dunlop tire to be tested for every conceivable variable, from handling capabilities in the rain to how the tire reacts to a puncture. While the proving grounds are designed for serious testing and development, it also sounds like serious fun.

To make it easy to service bikes, swap out tires and collect data for the motorcycle side of things, Dunlop’s proving grounds include a designated motorcycle maintenance area, testing bays and set-up areas for getting everything dialed in.

While having a dedicated testing facility is a huge advantage in tire development, the team at Dunlop also recognizes that there is no comparison for actually getting out on the road. It’s only in the real world that the tires come into contact with such a varied range of road surfaces and road anomalies.

Long before Dunlop motorcycle tires are ready to ship out to Parts Unlimited dealers, they are extensively tested at Dunlop’s proving grounds in Huntsville, Alabama. This is where prototype tires are put through an exhaustive testing protocol that mimics everything from everyday use to extreme situations. All of the data is compiled, as is feedback from the test riders, and then the prototype tire is further refined, until the team at Dunlop deems the tire is up to its high standards and ready for its debut.

Take a look at an overhead image of the proving grounds, and it looks almost like a race track. The various configurations include a long road course, an autocross course and a dry/wet handling course.

Dunlop takes care of that by sending its test riders out on a designated, repeatable 250-mile test loop that goes from the proving grounds in Huntsville to Winchester, Tennessee, and back. This loop is ideal for testing the mileage capabilities of Dunlop motorcycle tires. Dunlop’s engineers measure incremental wear on the tires and look for any abnormalities in the wear pattern. Even the riders are doing more than just going from one place to another: they’re collecting data, too, from handling characteristics to noise, since unusual noise can suggest an irregular wear pattern. ■

» Talk to your Parts rep to learn more about the extensive testing that goes into every Dunlop tire. You can find them all in the Tire & Service catalog, and at www.parts-unlimited.com.

RACHAEL ARCHER FIXATION

Q&A:

AMA FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR AND GNCC WXC CHAMPION

It started with a dream in New Zealand. Rachael Archer, daughter of local enduro legend Kevin Archer, was showing promise as a young off-road racer and soon set her sights on competing in the United States and becoming a Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Champion.

From the opposite side of the globe, Rachael had an uphill battle from the day her dream started. However, on October 24, 2022, the Moose Racing-backed factory AmPro Yamaha rider achieved her long-held goal, becoming the WXC champion after what she says was, “the most stressful, crazy, emotional year of my life.” Archer talks with Parts Magazine about what it took to claim the 2022 GNCC WXC Championship, and the honor of being named the 2022 AMA Female Athlete of the Year award. (Edited for clarity and space)

Parts Magazine: Talk about your 2022 season. It was quite a roller coaster ride.

Rachael Archer: I started off the year pretty strong, winning the first two races and ended up having a mechanical in Georgia. Then I had to get cortisone shots in my hands because I was getting carpal tunnel really bad and I wanted to wait ‘til the season was over to get surgery.

Then at round four, someone ran into the back of me and bent my sprocket so I got 10th at that race. Then I started clicking off some more wins from there, but I actually ended up getting Epstein Barr halfway through the season and was trying to race with it.

It ended up coming down to the wire to the very last race, to a winner-take-all situation with Tayla (Jones). We battled the whole race, basically. She ended up crashing and I took the win on the last lap. It was pretty cool. My dad actually flew over for that one and surprised me so that was pretty special, having him there winning my first championship.

It’s a good thing you had the summer break to recover from EBV, but the concept of not training was probably hard.

Yeah, it was pretty hard because I’m a very active person with my training. That took a real mental toll on me, to be honest. When I first got it, it was pretty bad. My liver enzymes were like 10 times the normal level and I was in the hospital overnight and just felt [terrible] for about two months. It was really hard for me to stop training all together. A couple times, I found myself at the gym when I shouldn’t have been. But I was able to knock it on the head with rest and nutrition.

50 PARTS MAGAZINE ★ MAY 2023 SPECIAL FEATURE
Photos by Ken Hill

Does this change your perspective of training and what you need to do?

Oh yeah, definitely. It’s always in the back of my mind now when I train, gotta keep an eye on my heart rate and make sure recovery is a priority. When I was younger, I used to just go hard all the time. I never really watched my heart rate. Just all out, every day. And now, it’s given me a big wakeup call and I’ve learned a lot in the last two years.

You’ve been with AmPro since you’ve come to the U.S. Talk about Randy Hawkins and the support from the team and what that’s meant to your career.

I was pretty lucky to have that opportunity straight out of high school. Paul Whibley got me in touch with Randy and I was offered an amateur ride in 2019 to see how I would do and I did pretty well for my first year; being a 16-year-old kid moving across the world, it’s a pretty big deal. I ended up fourth that year and definitely learned a lot.

I got my first win at the end of 2020 and then we won five in a row after that. That’s when I was put on a factory ride. From there on in, it was a battle for the championships two years in a row with Becca Sheets. I was a little younger and not as experienced, and Becca ended up taking the championship by one point those two years, so that was pretty gutting. She retired after that and then last year was my year.

Riding for AmPro Yamaha, it feels like family. I’m lucky enough to have had their support for the last five years, and having all the sponsors backing me 100 percent. Every time you line up you know you have the best parts, the best gear and the best bike.

Moose Racing is a long-time sponsor. Talk about their support.

They’re a really good gear company. Carl (VanNiekerk) and I get on really well and he’s always super helpful. They’re always listening to their riders and coming up with new ideas for the gear and making it better. This year they’ve made it more vented, which is a lot more comfortable. During the hotter races, keeping our core temperature as cool as possible helps a lot.

On top of the WXC Championship, you got the AMA Female Athlete of the Year Award. Was that a surprise?

Yeah, that was pretty special. I definitely didn’t expect that to happen this year at all. That was a big shock and a massive achievement. I’m pretty proud of myself for accomplishing that, but obviously I couldn’t do that without the team behind me. ■

» For 2023, Archer has already earned a victory with a win at the third round of the WXC GNCC season in Washington, Georgia. Parts Magazine congratulates Archer on her 2022 Championship and AMA honors. Check out upcoming issues for Archer’s results from throughout the season.

Hot Temps, Cool Gear

Off-Road Racewear for Summer Weather

Riders want to ride, which means a brand like Moose Racing has to give them gear options to suit different riding situations and styles. Hot weather can turn what should be a fun ride into a miserable day if a rider isn’t outfitted in the right gear. Moose Racing has been producing ventilated off-road riding gear for years to make sure even hot days are good days, whether that’s on the track or trail.

These days, riders from weekend enthusiasts right up to pro riders rely on Moose Racing’s Sahara Racewear to battle everything from triple-digit temperatures in the desert to swampy summers in more humid climates. As many of us have learned the hard way, avoiding heat fatigue can make the difference between standing on the podium and sitting on the sidelines.

The 2023 Sahara Racewear collection is a fresh new set of color combinations and graphics, all atop the lightweightyet-durable gear riders rely on for the hottest of conditions. In all, there are nine jersey and pants designs, and the sublimated graphics won’t fade, no matter how many times the gear goes through the process of getting dirty and getting washed. Some of the graphics include great retro looks, which are a testament to Moose Racing’s history –the company has been in business for more than 35 years. Not only do pro riders turn to Sahara Racewear to stay cool, but they also helped with the gear line’s development. Moose Racing works with its sponsored riders to develop gear, getting valuable feedback from top pros who put prototypes of the gear through the rigors of racing. Their feedback helps make sure gear is comfortable and cut right for easy movement. And, in the case of the Sahara Racewear, the pro riders also give feedback about the ventilation and coolness of the jersey and pants.

Both the Sahara jersey and pants are constructed of a lightweight ventilated polyester mesh to enable as much airflow as possible. The athletic-fit designs are cut loose enough that a rider has full movement on the bike, but not so loose that material is flapping in the breeze.

RIDING APPAREL

Staying hydrated on hot riding days is vital, which is why the Sahara jersey has built-in access holes that the rider can run a hydration pack hose through. The jersey is topped off with a stretch comfort collar for even more ease on the bike, and it is available in sizes small through 3XL.

Even though they are designed for light weight and relief in hot weather, the Sahara pants still have the performance features one would expect from Moose Racing gear. The pre-curved legs provide an instantly comfortable stance on the bike. Add in the three-point waist adjustment system, and the pants are as comfortable as they are cool.

The knees are covered with durable panels that provide an extra layer of abrasion resistance, and the inner knee areas have full-grain leather panels to guard against both heat and abrasion. The rest of the design features ventilation in key areas that will maximize airflow without compromising the performance and durability of the pants. Riders can get the Sahara pants in sizes 28 to 42.

The Sahara jerseys and pants aren’t the only things that have built-in ventilation. It’s important to keep feet and calves comfortable and cool, too, which is why Moose Racing also has Sahara Socks to complete the hot-weather

ensemble. These socks are soft and lightweight, and since they are made of a quick-drying Coolmax polyester, moisture is wicked away from a rider’s skin, then dries quickly. A ventilated design enhances this process to keep feet cool and dry.

The Sahara socks go up over the calf, and a nonslip cuff with stretch bands keep the socks in place. Since off-road socks need to be durable, too, the sole is reinforced with Nylon in high-abrasion areas.

Not all riding days are going to be hot ones, which is why Moose Racing offers a full line of off-road apparel. While the Sahara Racewear is designed for maximum ventilation, the rest of the gear covers everything from pro-level performance to entry-level gear. The Agroid racewear line is Moose Racing’s high-performance option for the most demanding of competitive environments. The Qualifier line is a great entry-level option for gear, giving riders an outstanding combination of value and quality. ■

A FAMILY LEGACY BARNETT CELEBRATES 75 YEARS

Parts Magazine is celebrating in 2023 our 30th year since our Premier issue. We are proud to have as an advertiser a company that has been around more than twice that long. This year Barnett Took & Engineering will hit its 75th anniversary milestone.

As it has been since the start, Barnett is a family business, now headed up by Mike Taylor, President/CEO, and his wife, Colleen Taylor, who is Chief Financial Officer and the daughter of company founder Charlie Barnett. The current Barnett staff also includes their son, Chris, daughter, Jennifer, and her husband, Chance Darling. They have a son waiting in the wings to continue the Barnett story when he gets a little older.

Charlie Barnett officially started his business in 1948, but the story goes back even farther. To escape the dustbowls of Oklahoma, Charlie made his way to the Southern California area in the 1930s riding on freight trains. He met his future wife, Afton, on Main Street in downtown Los

Angeles, where groups of people interested in motorcycles would meet on weekends. They married in 1941 and Charlie began working at machine shops to learn how to be a machinist. As he had no formal training, he would apply for a job, telling them he could do the work, and learn as much as he could before his employer found out he wasn’t a trained machinist, and they would let him go. In the 1940s, L.A. was full of small machine shops, and he learned a little bit from each one. In the first year of his marriage, he worked at 25 different machine shops.

Charlie made extra money by fixing up old cars and re-selling them and making small parts for his friends’ motorcycles in his garage. He opened his first shop in nearby Huntington Park, where in addition to making specialty parts, he imported products from England, mainly cable assemblies. Meanwhile, he continued to educate himself as a machinist.

SPECIAL FEATURE
Charlie is fifth from the right with his early day motorcycling friends.

Charlie enjoyed motorcycle racing, particularly off-road and would often participate in large events like the Big Bear Run. Now a self-taught master machinist, he continued to make specialty parts for his own motorcycle and his friends’ bikes on a regular basis. Soon he was going from dealer to dealer encouraging the shop owners to carry his products. It wasn’t long before he was connected with Triumph motorcycles and offered replacement cables for Triumph dealers nationwide. He became good friends with some of the top names in the industry like Bud Ekins and Ed Kretz. Soon more products were added, levers, throttles, rubber goods such as kick-start rubbers, throttle grips, risers and handlebars. Then Charlie got the idea that he could make superior clutch plates using cork or neoprene materials. The first clutch plates were for Triumph, BSA, Norton, Ariel and Matchless motorcycles. When Honda brought their first motorcycles to the United States, Barnett made clutch plates for them. Early 250cc and 305cc Hawks and Scramblers were designed for lightweight Japanese riders. Heavier Americans quickly burned out the stock clutches and a Barnett clutch became the best way to solve this problem.

Barnett Tool & Engineering continued to grow and moved into a larger facility in Vernon, California in 1965. Charlie led the company until 1974, when he stepped down due to his health. Luckily, his daughter Colleen and her husband Mike

were poised to step into the leadership role at Barnett and they remained focused on what Charlie did best: clutches and cables. They became owners of the company when Charlie passed away in 1993 and the two of them have been running it ever since. In 1998, they moved the business to its current 40,000+ square foot manufacturing facility in Ventura.

Barnett was originally a vendor doing business with Drag Specialties, but after LeMans acquired Drag in 1988, their metric applications were added to the Parts Unlimited catalogs, continuing to this day. ■

» The staff of Parts Magazine congratulates everyone at Barnett on their 75th anniversary. We wish them many more years of success in the motorcycle and related powersports industry.

ALL-NEW E-BIKE MODELS AND EQUIPMENT

BICYCLE PRODUCTS 60 PARTS MAGAZINE ★ MAY 2023 SPECIAL FEATURE

It's no secret that the popularity of bicycling has grown by leaps and bounds since the big bike boom of the COVID-19 pandemic. The momentum that picked up during the year of lockdowns continues to flourish with new and existing riders still taking to two-wheels in general, and E-Bikes in particular.

Looking to meet that demand, and assist its dealers that are jumping into the E-Bike and general bicycling market, Parts Unlimited has expanded its Bicycle catalog for 2023 with new vendors and products and has introduced an all-new INTENSE Tazer MX Alloy model offered in two levels of build specifications.

The INTENSE Tazer MX Alloy Pro and Expert builds join the full carbon Tazer MX Pro and Tazer MX Expert models exclusively offered through Parts Unlimited. The alloy’s design is visibly new, featuring a sleek and sporty frame that still carries the traditional ruggedness of INTENSE’s identity.

“Whenever we bring new products or brands onboard, the first criteria is that it needs to be important to the rider, the bike, and the shop,” said Mike Ralph, E-Bike Category Manager for Parts Unlimited. “The brand-new Alloy Tazer MXs are a home-run bike for all levels of riders that are looking for long days of eMTB fun.”

Two of the biggest factors in the E-Bike space are the power and reliability of the motor and the capacity of the battery driving it. For Tazer MX Alloy Pro models, INTENSE has integrated a Shimano downtube battery boasting 630Wh of power, more than 100 more than its MX Alloy Expert and carbon counterparts.

This expanded battery powers a Shimano Steps EP801 motor, a product delivering some of the latest in E-Bike motor technology. This power couple is controlled through a conveniently relocated button affixed on the top tube just behind the headset with digital feedback and information provided via a Shimano Steps LCD.

The Tazer MX Alloy Pro further expands on its motocross roots with Öhlins suspension, including a single-crown fork and coil shock. Providing 170mm of travel in the front and 155mm of travel in the rear, your dealership’s customers will not only connect with a well-recognized suspension brand in motorsports, but they’ll feel at home with familiar, confidence inspiring handling.

The handling of the Tazer MX Alloy Pro is heightened further by its factory-equipped Pirelli Scorpion tires wrapping its mixed wheel setup. The Pro build is rounded out with a group of other high-level components from manufactures like e*thirteen, KMC, ODI, Renthal and TRP, ultimately creating a powerful and incredibly capable E-Bike package at a $1,000 savings for customers over its carbon brother.

For those customers looking for the maximum E-Bike fun factor at a lower price point without sacrificing overall quality, the Tazer MX Alloy Expert build consists of a fine-tuned combination of components prepared to deliver miles of E-Bike smiles. Sharing the same updated frame design and construction as the Pro build, the Expert build consists of a Shimano Steps EP600 motor package powered by a 504Wh battery.

Other components of the Expert build consist of DVO suspension, e*thirteen crank and cassette, Maxxis Minion tires, WTB wheels and more, all notable components that have proven themselves more-than-worthy in the mountain bike world. Overall, this Expert build offers a confident riding package for all levels of rider that may walk through dealer doors.

Of course, INTENSE Tazer MX models will continue to be offered in weight-optimized carbon construction at both Pro and Expert build levels, sharing similar, new-generation componentry as the related alloy models.

HERE IT GROWS AGAIN

Since it was first introduced in 2021, the Parts Unlimited Bicycle catalog has grown larger with every iteration. Now for 2023, that one-stop shop for riding apparel, gear, hard parts, accessories, tools and equipment – and those INTENSE E-Bikes – has expanded yet again.

The 2023 Bicycle catalog boasts its largest and most enhanced selection yet, showing that Parts Unlimited is committed to supporting dealers with a go-to-solution for E-Bike customers, full of products to fuel the lifestyle on and off the bike.

One of the more notable brand additions comes as a natural extension of biking, fulfilling the equipment and accessory needs of your customers to tranport their bikes to the next adventure. A well-known name in outdoor recreation equipment, Thule has proven its commitment to quality for decades. The 2023 Bicycle catalog offers Thule’s

hitch-mounted bicycle carriers, bed-mounted carriers and popular tailgate pads in several variations to help dealers offer transportation solutions for all their customers.

Already offering a wide selection of riding gear, Parts Unlimited has expanded its helmet offerings, including highly reputable brands like 6D and Kali. Proven protection continues down to elbow and knee guards, equipment that many riders may not consider until it’s too late. GForm offers a collection of these guards constructed with a proprietary, reactive material for a layer of protection without hindering maneuverability.

“Whether riders are upgrading their E-Bike or buying their first one, we know quality protective equipment is just as important to them,” Ralph said. “Aligning with brands like Kali and G-Form gives our dealers access to a world of hightech protection for riders of all sizes and levels.”

BICYCLE PRODUCTS 62 PARTS MAGAZINE ★ MAY 2023 SPECIAL FEATURE
New to the Parts Unlimited Bicycle catalog lineup is Kali and its extensive lineup of helmets in several styles and adult and youth options. A well-known name in outdoor recreation, Thule’s range of hitch-mounted bicycle carriers, bed-mounted carriers and popular tailgate pads provide transportation solutions for customers.

Overall, offering the latest in helmet and other protection technology from 6D, Kali, G-Form and other brands empowers dealers to fit their customers with a complete gear package that’s best suited for their new ride and the trails ahead.

When it comes to new on-the-bike equipment in the 2023 Bicycle catalog, cassettes and chainrings are part of the driveline equation that customers count on for smooth shifting and putting power to the ground. Unfortunately, this equipment can break in tough conditions, eventually wears out, or even causes chain retention issues, which is why the e*thirteen lineup offered from Parts Unlimited has been expanded to include its proven ETRS Plus Gen2 and Helix cassettes, along with direct mount chainrings and chain guides.

These e*thirteen cassettes are not only built to withstand demanding trails and conditions, but they’re also designed with gearing optimized specifically for eMTB applications.

Customers may likely recognize e*thirteen products as OEM components on many bike models, and dealers can deliver this trusted quality through many additional component categories featuring e*thirteen in the Bicycle catalog, including handlebars and stems, cranks, pedals and more.

The list of leading components, equipment and accessories customers can flip through in the 2023 Bicycle catalog as they’re being rung-up for their new INTENSE Tazer MX Alloy could go on for pages. All of it a testament to Parts Unlimited’s comprehensive selection and ongoing support of this important and growing market segment. ■

Rugged Parts, Long Legacy

Introducing Performance Machine Off-Road

Performance Machine takes its well-known expertise in the wheel game to the ATV/ UTV market. The Race Beadlock Wheels are just one offering designed for serious off-road performance.

Performance Machine, the company that specializes in custom aftermarket wheels, brakes and related premium billet-aluminum products for street bikes, is going off-road. According to the company’s president, Chris Lindstrom, “PM is expanding into the UTV market, and dealers can access our products through Parts Unlimited’s catalog.”

Ever since Perry Sands formed Performance Machine in 1970, the company has designed and manufactured premium billet aluminum components for American VTwin motorcycles. Now the company has expanded into the growing UTV market with its Performance Machine Off-Road brand. The new UTV products include oversized brake kits, steering knuckles, bearing carriers and, of course, forged aluminum wheels with proprietary spacers to fit a wide range of widths, diameters and bolt patterns. Like all PM products, the new UTV components are manufactured using either 6061-T6 or 7075-T6 billet aluminum, depending on the application.

Performance Machine Off-Road has its origins in Arizona’s dry, sunbaked desert where Lindstrom competes (often earning a place on the podium) in the Arizona Offroad Promotions Series with his Can-Am X3 side-by-side. After several DNFs from cast wheel and brake system failures, Lindstrom figured that PM should develop a superior line of UTV parts to withstand the beating UTVs experience in a typical desert race.

Perhaps PM’s most familiar new UTV products are its wheels and brake systems. Race Beadlock Wheels, Destroy Wheels, and Heathen Wheels are all made of forged 6061-T6 aluminum and come in a Raw Machined finish or PM’s popular Black Contrast Cut.

PM’s Off-Road UTV-specific 4-piston calipers that are part of the High-Performance Big Brake Kit feature the legendary braking performance for which PM is known. The four oversized 4-piston calipers, coupled with larger-diameter PM rotors increase braking power up to 35 percent.

PM’s new steering knuckles and bearing carriers are stout chassis components formed from forged from 7075-T6 billet aluminum. These replacement parts fit a UTV’s front and rear, left and right sides, plus left and right tie rods. Features include a double sheer pin for maximum strength, an extra thick bearing cavity shoulder and a billet aluminum bearing retaining bezel to safeguard the bearing’s position. All undercarriage components boast Black Anodized finishes for easy cleaning and a sanitary look. Parts numbers cover 2017-2021 Can-Am X3 and Polaris RZR Turbo S models.

Like all Performance Machine products, the new UTV components are designed and tested to exceed strict quality standards. Pre-production development included proprietary torture testing of the brake systems and wheel components at PM’s in-house test lab using its brake dyno and three separate custom-made test fixtures to ensure structural integrity. Like all PM products, the new Performance Machine Off-Road UTV parts are made in Cerritos, California. ■

High-Performance Tires for ATVS

PacTrax tires from AMS are made for aggressive and recreational ATV riding, and offer excellent performance at an incredible value.

Solid-axle ATVs may not be as hugely popular as they were decades ago, but there’s no denying that they remain a hugely common recreational vehicle. The fact is, there are still countless quads being ridden and enjoyed at tracks, in the woods and in the deserts across America, and those riders need tires. AMS has them covered with its PacTrax tires, which offer excellent performance at an incredible value.

If your customers are looking to lay into the throttle and rip, the PacTrax is a good fit. Offered as an aggressive recreational and competition tire, the PacTrax features a carcass and tread design that focuses on traction and control on a variety of surfaces, from hardpack to looser terrain.

The front PacTrax delivers precise steering and excellent cornering and braking characteristics. An aggressive tread pattern consisting of triangular knobs provide multi-directional biting edges that help the PacTrax dig in, no matter where the load is coming from. Better still, the tire is bi-directional, so your customers can flip it and take advantage of the fresher side of the knobs and get more use out of the tires.

A near-continuous ridge of knobs down the center of the front tire allows the PacTrax to roll smoothly in a straight line, while the steep crown of the front profile keeps steering light. To help prevent flats and offer extra support on the trail, the larger 21x7-10 and 22x7-10 sizes

are built in a tough six-fly format. The smaller 20x6-10 MX size is available in a more flexible four-ply carcass for a larger footprint and better grip on track.

Out back, the PacTrax is all about putting down the power. Tall X-shaped tread lugs run clear across the width of the flat-section rear tire for ground contact. With contact comes control, whether your customers are hard on the gas or shedding speed. The staggered tread design has good clean-out capabilities for reliable performance in everything from hardpack to sand to light mud.

Like the front tires, the rear PacTrax comes in popular sizes and two carcass constructions. For the 20x11-8, 20x11-9, and 22x11-9 sizes AMS equipped the PacTrax with a tough six-ply carcass that maintains its profile under load. There’s also the softer four-ply design of the MX-focussed 18x10-8 size. Also like the front tire, the rear can be flipped to take advantage of fresh tread edges.

Both front and rear PacTrax are made from a natural rubber compound that delivers superb flexibility and traction while also providing good durability. The rubber compound is just one of several carefully developed characteristics that make the PacTrax a great fit for hardcharging quad riders. ■

Virtual Wheels An App to Try On ATV/UTV Wheels DIGITAL MARKETING

This simple-to-use app uses the phone or tablet’s camera plus augmented reality to overlay any set of Moose wheels onto a photo of the vehicle. This allows customers to instantly see how the wheels will look, so they can best choose the set they want to buy.

The process begins with choosing either the aluminum wheel selection for ATVs and UTVs or the carbon fiber wheels for UTVs. From there, users can scroll through the various wheel models to “try them on” and see which set they like best.

On the aluminum side of things, customers can see a virtual photo of their vehicle with wheels like the Moose Racing 361 X or 415 X. These are wheels that can handle work as well as a fun day out. The 361 X is a solid all-around wheel, while the 415 X is especially adept at woods, deep mud and sand. They’re both great-looking wheel designs, so even with the app, it might still be a tough decision for the customer!

Another reason for customers to love the 361 X and 415 X wheels is that every single one is X-rayed on the production line to ensure quality and reliability. That means riders can mount these wheels and get to work – or play – with full confidence. Moose Utility Division and Moose Racing do this with all of their wheels, so no matter which design a rider ultimately chooses, they’ll be assured of the quality.

Deciding which wheels to buy for an ATV or UTV can be a tough. After all, what will they look like once they’re on the vehicle? Now, it’s a lot easier to visualize how a set of Moose Utility Division or Moose Racing wheels will look on the vehicle thanks to a new app.

The Moose ATV/UTV Wheels App, available for iOS and Android, is already available in the app store, so customers and dealers alike can use it as a tool to help choose wheels that have the right look for the ride.

On the carbon fiber side of things, the Moose Racing 325 X Carbon Forged UTV wheel is a 100 percent carbon fiber wheel that weighs only 8 pounds, 8 ounces. When you add up all four wheels, that’s a weight savings of about 30 pounds compared to aluminum wheels. For competitive-minded riders, that’s incredibly significant, especially when it comes to torque for great starts and getting out of corners faster. ■

» Talk to your Parts rep to learn more about using the new Moose ATV/UTV Wheels App to help customers choose their next set of wheels. You can find all of the wheel options in the ATV & UTV catalog, and at www.parts-unlimited.com.

Lowering Links for Dual-Sport Bikes

Dual-sport bikes could also be called dual-level bikes because not only can these lightweight motorcycles be ridden both on and off paved roads, they also suit experienced and beginner riders alike. Depending on the bike, both levels of riders often feel comfortable and confident riding these go-anywhere motorcycles.

But that dual-sport capability often has a minor price – a tall seat height, the result of elevating the bike’s ride height to clear things such as rocks and other off-road riding obstacles. That’s when a tall saddle can intimidate a novice rider. Time to lower the bike, and for that PSR offers rear suspension Lowering Links that easily reduce ride height between ½ inch to 1½ inches, often enough to make a significant difference for inexperienced riders when venturing off road.

PSR’s Lowering Links is easy to install and just as simple to remove once the novice rider feels comfortable with the bike’s OE ride height. The links replace the bike’s OE rear links with reconfigured dog bone arms made of

Old Bike, New Brakes

Helping the Classics Stop Better

Anyone riding an older Japanese bike will be glad to know that EBC brakes has a wide selection of brake pads and rotors designed for classic street bikes, with applications dating back to the early days of hydraulic disc brakes.

For brake pads, EBC offers three distinct formulas to suit your customer’s preferences and the application. Between the organic compound, semi-sintered compound, and sintered option, riders are sure to find pads with the brake feel and power they’re after.

Organic pads are made from aramid fibers bonded together with resin, and are a very popular option for older bikes because of the pads’ gentle feel. Semi-sintered pads blend up to 30 percent bronze material into the friction material, increasing its bite and adding durability. Then, there are sintered pads, which are made from a copper alloy that offers strong bite and heat resistance. Depending on how your customers are riding, EBC has a brake pad to suit them. Beyond pads, EBC also offers VMD brake discs specifically designed to replace the worn or warped discs on older

Powerful Performance Exhausts for New Husqvarna, KTM Models

Each new model released in the world of motocross and off-road motorcycles becomes more precise and technologically advanced. From customizable ECU tuning to advanced suspension, Husqvarna and KTM are among the manufacturers leading this charge throughout recent years. Even with OEMs stepping it up, Pro Circuit is always up to the challenge of exceeding performance.

No matter which Pro Circuit product you pick, it’s clear everything that comes out of Mitch Payton’s house of power is carefully designed and precision-built. Such is true with Pro Circuit’s latest additions to its 4-stroke exhaust system lineup, covering various 2023 Husqvarna and KTM 250, 350 and 450 models.

With the Austrian brands’ complete revamp of their motocross and off-road machines, the Pro Circuit R&D team quickly got its hands on new models to develop, build and dyno test prototype exhaust systems that helped improve performance across the lineup.

This performance exhaust lineup for the exciting new 2023 platforms consists of a T-6 stainless slip-on, T-6 stainless system, TI-6 titanium system and TI-6 Pro titanium systems. The T-6 stainless slip-on from Pro Circuit features a removable spark arrestor and durable, stainless-steel construction throughout the canister and tubing.

Covering 2023 250, 350 and 450 4-stroke Husqvarna and KTM motocross, and several off-road models, the slip-on is a great option for riders who want an affordable way to

get bolt-on performance, functionality and a trick look in one package. The new pipes also work with the preceding Factory and Rockstar editions.

Available for the same models, but offering more performance and durability, are the T-6 stainless steel exhaust systems. These consist of a complete, three-piece exhaust system consisting of a head pipe, mid-pipe and muffler with a removable spark arrestor. These complete exhaust systems are designed to deliver optimal performance for each specific Husqvarna/KTM engine platform, helping riders get the most out of their machines. Plus, stainless steel construction provides ultimate durability, making them versatile from off-road to motocross.

Sharing the same design and performance characteristics as the T-6 systems is Pro Circuit’s staple exhaust, the TI-6. These feature aerospace quality, hand-welded titanium construction throughout the head and mid pipes and muffler canister, and are completed with a carbon fiber end cap. These materials provide substantial weight savings and legendary performance, not to mention a truly factory look.

For the professionals and other racers required to meet AMA and FIM sound regulations, Pro Circuit’s TI-6 Pro titanium exhaust system mirrors the construction, quality and performance of the TI-6, but is built with provisions in the muffler to make sure passing sound isn’t a worry on a race day. ■
