Electrical Retail Sales Volume in June Showed Annual Increase of 7.2% According to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office, retail sales of electrical goods by volume decreased by -2.3% in June, compared with May, but increased by 7.2% compared with June 2013. Retail sales by value decreased by -3.1% on May but increased by 1.3% on an annual basis. Overall, the volume of retail sales (i.e. excluding price effects) decreased by 1.7% in June 2014 when compared with May 2014 and there was an increase of 4.8% in the annual figure. When motor trades are excluded, there was no change in the volume of retail sales in June 2014 when compared with May 2014 and there was an increase of 3.6% in the annual figure. There was a decrease of 0.3% in the value of retail sales in June 2014 when compared with May 2014 and there was an annual increase of 3.3% when compared with June 2013. If motor trades are excluded, there was a monthly increase of 0.1% in the value of retail sales and an annual increase of 2.1%.
Kenwood-De’Longhi Appoints Charlie Shiels as Distributor The Kenwood-De’Longhi Group has announced that Charlie Shiels Ltd is now an official distributor of all four brands: Kenwood, De’Longhi, Braun and kMix. The complete range is now displayed in a purpose-built section of the Charlie Shiels showroom. Charlie Shiels now carries a full range of stock and will be responsible for exclusive distribution across the hardware sector, North and South, as well as servicing its existing customers across all platforms. Recovery Must Be Nurtured Retail Ireland said that the CSO figures showed that sales were beginning to recover after years of decline. Director Stephen Lynam said: “For the month of June there were annual increases in sales in car dealerships, supermarkets, petrol stations, clothes stores and electrical outlets. Furniture stores saw a huge 16% rise in the value of their sales, indicating movement in the property market. These increases were offset somewhat by falls in department stores, specialist food stores like butchers and bakeries, and in hardware outlets. “A pattern of sales growth in 2014 has clearly emerged. While many sectors of retail remain in difficulty, sales overall have risen every month for the first half of the year, with second quarter growth, excluding motor sales, of over 2%, up from last year. “This growth should not be taken for granted. The Government very wisely
included retail in their recently published list of priorities. We support calls from IBEC and others to give money back to consumers through reductions in income tax in the October budget. It is the best way to nurture growth in the domestic economy.”
Improvement in Second Quarter Colm Mallon, Territory Manager – Ireland, GfK, said: “Quarter 2 saw a general improvement in most categories, be that actual growth, or a lessening of declines. “TV sales were boosted by the World Cup and the desire for larger screen TVs. Ultra HD also helped as volumes doubled from May to June, though from a low base. Home appliances had a strong quarter, with growth in both major and small appliances. Photo sales are still in decline overall, but at a lower rate.” See page 12 for GfK’s Irish market update.
KAL Appointed Sharp Partner The KAL Group has been appointed as a partner in the Republic of Ireland for the Sharp brand. 41% of Irish TV Homes Now Have Saorview Over the past four months, the number of Irish households that have Saorview has increased by 41,000. The total number of homes in Ireland with Saorview now stands at 653,000, up from 612,000 in May 2014, according to the latest household data from Nielsen. This means that 41% of all TV homes in Ireland have Saorview, either on its own or combined with other services. Saorview recently ran an extensive advertising campaign promoting the benefits of Saorview and highlighting that, in 2013, 97% of the most watched television programmes in Ireland were available to watch for free on Saorview. The advertising campaign ran from April through to July on RTÉ television and featured strongly within the FIFA World Cup coverage on RTÉ Two. Following the campaign, Saorview undertook online research to understand how the campaign was received. The research showed that Saorview’s advertising messages were positively received among consumers with the message of “no contract, no monthly bills” resonating with more than three out of every five respondents, while the messages of “why pay for TV when you can get it for free” and “Ireland’s free digital TV service” were recalled by roughly half of the respondents. Furthermore, Saorview’s key advertising messages were considered by in excess of 80% of respondents to be well delivered. Most importantly, more than one in three of those questioned (37%) said that the advertisement would motivate them to switch to Saorview.
Jim Higgins, Saorview’s Business Development Manager, told IER-Retail: “The latest household figures demonstrate that Irish TV consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the benefits of Saorview, enabling them to take control of the cost of watching television by using Saorview as part of their home entertainment. We have plans to further enhance the Saorview offer over the coming year, and the success of Saorview will continue.” For electrical retailers, the analogue switchoff in 2012 delivered a much needed boost in sales, (mainly of set-top boxes, new TV sets and other Saorview-associated products). The availability of Saorview and satellite combi equipment and the increasing numbers of Smart TV sets featuring in manufacturer ranges, gives consumers greater choice than ever in terms of their TV choices. Jim added: “Saorview offers the opportunity to generate greater value through the sale of Saorview Approved equipment and associated products for electrical retailers across the country. As consumers talk to their retailer about Saorview options, they discover that, when combined with other services such as free-to-air satellite and online content, Saorview delivers great choice at no ongoing cost. “When a customer considers the purchase of a new TV, the availability of these features allows the retailer to upsell, and to add value to each transaction in terms of aerials, cables, and installation services. Panasonic Reports Strong Growth in LCD LCD TVs, Lumix cameras and soundbars have been performing particularly well for Panasonic this year. Tony Duggan, Sales Director, Panasonic Ireland, told IER-Retail: “Overall, business has been strong for us in the first few months of the financial year. Our LCD business has shown strong growth, which has offset the exit of plasma from our range. Large screen has been especially strong, with 50+ and above giving us a strong pillar to the business. Our overall LED volumes are up considerably. “Our imaging business has also been very encouraging, with Lumix G System cameras more than doubling in the first four months of 2014, in value terms. This is being underpinned with strong demand for models such as the GH4, but also in recognition of our Which Photography Brand for 2014 _ the second year in a row that we have won this trusted and auspicious award, over more established photo brands. “Audio as a category has been strongly underpinned with good business being done in soundbar and particularly soundboard. Now, as we launch our new connected All Play systems, we can see additional opportunities for retailers to re-inject some value and expertise into a category that has been struggling in recent years. This is a huge area of growth and we have models, pricing and a strategy to ensure Panasonic dealers get their share of it.”
Minister Introduces WEEE Regulations On 16th July the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan TD, announced the range of measures and initiatives designed to attain the ambitious collection targets required by the EU’s new WEEE Directive. “There has been a magnificent response by the Irish people to the WEEE system in Ireland,” he said. “It is almost unimaginable to us now, but the sight of discarded waste fridges, washing machines and other e-waste was commonplace throughout our countryside and towns only a few short years ago. The Irish public have demonstrated their commitment to their environment by eradicating this visible blight from our landscape and have proven that with the right awareness raising tools, convenient collection systems and a strong supporting infrastructure, that they will not be found wanting.” Since the WEEE system was introduced in Ireland in 2005, over 300,000 tonnes of WEEE have been collected, which is the equivalent of 187kg per household. In 2013 alone, 35,568 tonnes of WEEE were collected, which is the equivalent of eight million small waste appliances. We now annually collect almost 8kg per capita of WEEE, which is double the target set by the original WEEE Directive. While significant achievements have been made, there are challenging targets ahead to divert even more e-waste from landfill as determined by the new WEEE Directive. A collection target of 45% of electronic equipment placed on the market will apply from 2016, and then 65% of equipment placed on the market, or 85% of electronic waste generated, must be
collected by 2019. New visible environmental costs came into effect from 1st July to a limited range of electrical and electronic equipment and on a significantly reduced level compared with the costs introduced with the original WEEE Regulations in 2005. The application of these costs triggers the introduction of a range of measures to promote and support increased take-back of WEEE which includes an incentivisation scheme for electrical retailers to encourage them to take back as much WEEE as possible from members of the public, direct funding by electrical producers to support local WEEE collection systems at civic amenity facilities, and further funding to defray EPA enforcement costs and to support much needed WEEE related research. The Minister added: “The support for the WEEE system being provided by electrical and electronic equipment producers represents a very significant development in the producer responsibility system in Ireland as, for the first time, industry has formally recognised their role in providing financial support for statutory bodies with responsibility for overseeing and supporting the implementation of polluter pays policy in the State.” The Minister urged all stakeholders, in particular the two producer compliance schemes ERP Ireland and WEEE Ireland, the National WEEE Register, the retail sector, local authorities and the EPA, to continue to work together in a focussed and cohesive manner to support the public who have worked so hard to make this initiative the success that it is.

“Stop Rogue Collections and Hoarding” Says WEEE Ireland Ireland needs to put a stop to rogue collection and hoarding of electrical items (WEEE) if new EU recycling targets are to be met, warned WEEE Ireland as it announced its 2013 recycling figures. In 2013, 25,651 tonnes of WEEE were collected and recycled by WEEE Ireland, equating to 45% of all WEEE items placed on the market by its members. These figures are an increase on previous years, but show a significant gap of 55% of WEEE items on the market that are not being disposed of correctly and entering the proper WEEE recycling channels. The 25,651 tonnes collected included: •

Leo Donavan, Chief Executive, WEEE Ireland, said: “The continued rise in the number of ‘non-authorised’ collections and improper recycling of WEEE being carried out across the country is of huge concern to us. Despite the recycling of unwanted electrical and battery waste being free and easy to do, not all of this waste is making its way back into an authorised system. As a result of

these ‘rogue’ collections, Ireland may be at risk of not achieving its challenging future EU recycling targets. “The other issue here is that rogue collectors are not properly recycling WEEE, which is a serious issue for the environment.”
Hoarding Another factor that WEEE Ireland has identified as contributing to the 55% of WEEE items on the market that are not being recycled correctly is the number of items that people are hoarding in their homes. “Households up and down the country have many items of WEEE waste sitting idle that could be recycled,” Leo added. “During the Saorview campaign we saw an unprecedented rise in the number of televisions recycled. People tend to store electrical items in the garage, under the stairs, in attics, instead of simply bringing it to an authorised collection for free recycling. We are urging people not to keep electrical waste and waste batteries lying around the house.”

GfK: “Premium Products Play Their Part” Summarising GfK’s update on the Irish market for this year’s second quarter, Colm Mallon, Territory Manager, Ireland, said: “Quarter 2 saw a general improvement in most categories, be that actual growth, or a lessening of declines. TV sales were boosted by the World Cup and the desire for larger screen TVs. Ultra HD also helped as volumes doubled from May to June, though from a low base. Photo sales are still in decline overall, but at a lower rate. “Home appliances had a strong quarter, with growth in both major and small appliances. MDA was boosted by many retailers buying in extra stock in advance of the new WEEE regulations, and in turn looking to sell
this stock through. SDA also grew, driven mainly by coffee makers, food prep and vacuum cleaners. All three of these areas benefit from having premium product that consumers are willing to pay more for, which is reflected in the fact that value grew more than volume. “In IT, tablets grew in volume only while value started to decline. It is expected that volume will start to decline also given the now relatively high ownership levels. Value peaked in Q4 2013 and is in decline due to lower average pricing as a result of smaller screen sizes and of more entry-level product being available.”

Strong Quarter for Major Appliances
The past 12 months have seen the consumer electronics market in Ireland fall -20% in value. However, June 2014 versus June 2013 was just -2% down in value. Of course, some of the improvement is down to the impact of the World Cup on the TV market. However, there has been growth in audio systems and portable radio in the last quarter. The majority of the improvement has come from the TV market, up +3% in value, June 2014 on June 2013.
The World Cup is a factor but the biggest growth is in 50”+ TVs (+51% June on June) and, regardless of the football, few consumers own these ‘jumbo’ TVs. Prices have fallen to more affordable levels so we expect this sector to continue growing for the foreseeable future. This should carry with it growth in sound bars and TV wall mounts. An increasing proportion of these TVs will be Ultra HD, which saw its best ever sales level in June across the key European countries. In Ireland volume sales of UHD sets were more than double the record figure from the May data _ a very promising start indeed.
Q2 was a bumper period for the white goods market in Ireland. Overall MDA 8 sales (washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers, cooling, freezers, cooking, hobs and hoods) rose 17% in volume and 7% in value compared to the same period last year.
Sales across all categories were boosted by strong trading over Easter and the bank holiday weekends in May and June, with consumers keen to take advantage of retailer promotions as prices were down 8% this quarter. The re-introduction of the visible WEEE fee meant many retailers bought extra stock in advance of this, and were keen to move this through, hence the price promotions. Both total freestanding and built-in appliances achieved double digit growth, with the cooling and dishwashers categories rising by over 20%. Within these two top performing markets, sales of built-in products outpaced freestanding in terms of growth. Larger drum sizes continue to fuel washing machine sales, in

particular 8kg products, which now account for almost a third of all washing machines bought in Q2.
Premium Product Drives SDA Growth The Small Domestic Appliances market (food preparation, hot beverage makers, irons, kettles, toasters, vacuum cleaners, hair dryers, hair stylers and shavers) has recorded consecutive monthly growth versus last year for the first half of 2014. Q2 value sales increased by 11% with the market worth just over €21.5 million, and volume sales reported a healthy 9% rise.
Obviously the impact of camera-enabled smartphones and their frequent upgrade process is having a huge impact here. Changeable lens product that is more complex and ‘professional’ is increasingly where a high proportion of the value sits. Value declines here in compact system and SLR have fallen in June to -10% and -17% respectively. So, while we don’t have growth, there is at least a slowdown of the decline. This situation is not specific to Ireland and is common across many developed countries. There is one good news story in the photographic domain, in the moving image category. Here, while traditional camcorder sales have been falling, action cameras have grown in value in the past 12 months by close to 300%. For the first time value sales overtook traditional camcorders in a single month in June. So higher end and more niche products are becoming more popular among consumers and driving accessory sales as well.
IT Market Splits into Two The Irish IT market declined in Quarter 2 by 3.8% in value. The market was split in two in terms of performance, with laptops, tablets, and monitors showing declines, but there were strong sales for desktop computers and the storage market.
Demand for premium products has been responsible for driving the unprecedented value growth over the past three years across most categories but also consumer demand influenced by media-driven lifestyles and technology. The key sectors contributing to the overall market value growth are vacuum cleaners, which now represent 36% of the total category, but also coffee machines and food preparation appliances. The three aforementioned markets combined account for just over 60% of the overall additional SDA value sales, an impressive increase of 13% compared to the same period last year. Within each sector, high value products such as single serve coffee machines, which use pods from a single supplier, kitchen machines and lightweight vacuum cleaners such as handsticks are proving popular. Looking ahead, 2014 is set to be a good year overall for small domestic appliances as the category is enjoying a great first half of the year. The improving consumer confidence levels may also help stimulate sales of more premium appliances over the key gifting season.
Camera Market Decline Slows Down The camera market in Ireland continues to decline. Over the past 12 months the value drop sits at -34%. Thankfully the pace of decline is slowing _–Quarter 2 2014 fell by -23% compared to the same period in 2013. The biggest issue is in fixed lens cameras, which have seen a value drop of 41% year on year.
Tablets did see positive volume growth of 1.9%, but negative value growth of -5.7%, due to price declines of 7.5%. The continued story of tablets is that of moving away from the larger 10” more expensive models and towards the more portable, lower priced 7” models. The high end, large tablet market is also suffering erosion from hybrid tablets. Hybrid tablets are tablets that run full operating systems like laptops and therefore compete as a replacement for laptops rather than a supplement like traditional tablets do. Hybrid tablets grew 227.2% in volume and 143.8% value in June as prices have come down rapidly, moving this product group out of its early adopter stage. By comparison, traditional laptops (excluding hybrids) were down -24.6% volume and 28% value in Q2, so both markets are being affected by hybrid growth. Elsewhere in the market desktop computers continue their ascent into growth, up 27.1% in volume and 15.7% in value. The re-emergence of desktops is being driven by traditional towers rather than the newer all-in-one form factor. AIOs were down 4% volume and 13.5% value in June. Desktops are mainly preferred by consumers due to them being more powerful than laptops and AIOs sacrifice power for a more svelte form, which consumers do not value as highly in a desktop as in a laptop or tablet.

Philips Brand Still Strong and Growing Visitors to the Philips showroom at South County Business Park during the trade shows will find newly revamped displays and a stronger than ever range of products from a brand that Irish consumers want and ask for.
‘Consumerables’ such as small audio, portable DVDs and ghetto blasters (in which red is the biggest selling colour) continue to be popular. Philips also offers an extensive range of headphones with new packaging, including noise-limiting models and award-winning models with SRPs of €199 and €249. The A5-PRO professional DJ headphones have been specifically designed by international DJ legend Armin van Buuren to meet his needs as a globetrotting DJ (see page 56). Philips’ range of DECT products has also been widened, and new DesignLine products will be introduced in 1Q2015. In 2012, during the restructuring that preceded Philips televisions being no longer distributed on the Irish market, responsibility for all other consumer electrical products _ in 15 categories _ was transferred to a new Allegro Philips Electrical Division. Since then the Philips team have made the Philips brand stronger than ever, said Kevin Nugent, Sales & Marketing Manager, Philips Consumer Lifestyle Division. “The Irish consumer wants the Philips brand and it is still strong and growing: we have ‘gone back to basics’ by holding stock, calling in regularly to our customers, and offering them good propositions _ it’s not rocket science!”
Domestic Appliances In floorcare, Philips is offering six vacuum cleaners _ three bagged and three bagless _ either A or B energy rated and all 2016 compliant with motors no more than 850W. “New categories” are promised in kitchen appliances for 2015, while for 2014 the Airfryer (see page 54), kettles, toasters, and juicers are strong sellers, and juicers, sales of which have quadrupled over the past 12 months, are now achieving higher price points. In garment care, the PerfectCare technology is unique to Philips and

These are €10 for Category 1.1 appliances (American side-by-side), €5 for Categories 1.2, 1.2a and 1.3 (all Large Domestic Appliances), and €5 for Category 4.1 (large TVs with 32” screen and greater). Cautious Optimism Prevails as Trade Shows Beckon
(See Trade Show Quick Guide on pg: 64). Retail sales of electrical goods in June increased by 7.2% in volume compared with June 2013 and by 1.3% in value, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office. GfK Ireland reports that the TV market was up 3% in value in June, compared with June 2013, and major domestic appliances were up 17% in volume and 7% in value in Q2, while small domestic appliances were up 9% in volume and 11% in value. New Showrooms, Brands This general optimism is reflected in the number of suppliers who are revamping their showrooms and introducing new brands, including Philips; KAL, with Bauknecht, Haier and Sharp; Charlie Shiels, now a distributor for Kenwood, De—Longhi, Braun, kMix, and Vax; Dimpco, with Braun Personal Care Products, and Shomar, which is launching an extensive range of small domestic appliances, including a white label offering.
Aidan Candon, Chief Executive of Euronics Ireland, told IER-Retail: “Over the first six months of the year we were up double-digit figures year-on-year. There are definite signs of improvement, but the economic climate continues to be tough.
Suppliers are also working with retailers to develop their instore displays. One such is Dyson, which is rolling out new displays, commencing with some Harvey Norman stores _ the prototype in Carrickmines, then Swords and most recently a refined version in Naas _ but continuing with variations on the theme to suit retailers across the country.
“White goods have been particularly good, whereas brown goods remain difficult, with 42” and higher TV screen sizes and soundbars doing best. We are developing our own stands for tablets and our extended warranty sales are doing well.
Beyond the trade shows, the industry awaits to see what implications there will be for Ireland, if any, of Whirlpool’s €758 million purchase of 60% stake in Indesit, and if rumoured moves for other major brands in January come about.

New Nexus, Hi-Lite and Classic Range Cookers
At just 60cm wide _ the same size as a slotin cooker or a standard kitchen unit _ the new Aga City60 (SRP: €6,750) is ideal for small spaces. Like other Aga cookers, it is made from cast iron, employs radiant heat cooking technology, is room vented so can be sited anywhere, and is mounted on wheels for easy moving. Following on from the red dot award for design, the OB60SL11DEPX1 builtin single oven with a 77-litre useable cavity and 11 functions recently received a Good Housekeeping Institute Approved Accreditation. Nine-function and sevenfunction models are also available. An intuitive control system allows easy cooking mode selection, with up to 11 functions to optimise the cooking performance. An electronic thermostat controls temperature variation during the cooking process, ensuring consistent temperatures in the oven cavity. Another feature is Fisher & Paykel’s unique ActiveVent technology, which maintains and controls moisture during the cooking process.

All the oven functions are preset at the touch of a dial, and are highlighted on the fascia when selected along with the oven temperature. Illuminated halos that surround the dials inform the user the oven is on, and whether or not it has reached the selected temperature. Each function is preset to a temperature, but can be reset if required. The oven it comes with a pyrolytic cleaning function and is finished in black reflective glass with a polished metal trim.

The set will automatically become the centrepiece of any living room, so Sharp has integrated a new ‘wallpaper mode’ feature that transforms the TV into a work of art whenever it is put in standby mode, displaying images from a personal gallery just as a smartphone does. The TV automatically dims the brightness so that the wallpaper images looks less like a television, and more like a real-world piece of art.

Two new dishwashers use just six litres of water, due to engineering and results driven by the company’s 6th Sense PowerClean technology. The freestanding ADPL 7470 IX and built-in AD 8900 are A++AA rated machines with 13-place settings, eight programmes, and a flexible interior to cope with all dishwashing eventualities. The low water consumption is achieved by saving the water from the final rinse in a dedicated tank, where it is stored and recycled for use at the beginning of the next programme. Should the dishwasher not be used for any length of time, such as when on holiday, the water is automatically drained after three days to prevent bacteria formation. PowerClean automatically senses the level of soiling on the dishes and adjusts the programme accordingly. It also means that it will wash as economically as possible with the benefit of up to 50% savings on energy,

The three Indesit Innex washing machines are real ‘one touch’ appliances with a unique ‘Push and Wash’ button that turns the machine on and automatically selects a 50-minute wash programme designed to tackle a normal 4kg daily load.
The new Hotpoint Ultima S-Line washing machines feature two levels of steam cleaning: Steam Refresh to get rid of smells without detergent and Steam Hygiene, which gives an extra steam boost at the end of the wash cycle.
They also feature an automatic water level control that fills the machine with the exact amount of water it needs for any load size. The fascias are branded ‘From 1kg to 8kg’ and ‘From 1kg to 9kg’ to remind consumers they don’t always have to fill the machine right up to get the most efficient wash.
The A+++ Ultima S-Line also features antistain for the 20 most stubborn stains and anti-stain quick, a one-hour programme for people in a rush. With super silent running, it is an ideal machine for open plan homes.

Hotpoint Eco Experience The three Hotpoint Eco Experience models are value for money, mid-range appliances. They feature the Auto+ Load sensor that measures the size of the load and adjusts the amount of water, the temperature and the cycle time to give the most water and energy efficient wash for that specific load.
Hotpoint HD Line SDAs Hotpoint’s HD Line of small domestic appliances is expanding with most products now available in stainless steel, black, cream and red. They will also include a new ‘value’ range of appliances that will launch in the autumn, featuring irons, kettles, toasters and a special ‘breakfast pack’ bundle of kettle and toaster. Hotpoint is also introducing a three-year replacement warranty on all its HD Line food preparation appliances. Hotpoint has also entered the coffee machine by teaming up with Italian coffee specialists illy. Two ‘Hotpoint for illy’ touch control espresso machines use illy’s IperEspresso capsule system that extracts coffee from a vacuum-preserved capsule in two phases _ ‘hyperinfusion’ to intensify aroma, followed by ‘emulsion’ to create a thick, velvety and long-lasting crema. A Gyro Sensor measures rotation and changes in direction for efficient and thorough cleaning of a room. A high-quality digital camera on board scans the ceiling of the room several times a minute to ensure no area is missed. The interplay of Gyro Sensor and ceiling-scanning camera ensures that the perimeters of rooms and difficult-to-access areas are cleaned thoroughly without gaps. Seven infra-red sensors on the front scan a 180° area ahead of the machine in order to avoid collisions with furniture and other obstacles. The Multipro Excel comes in two models, FPM910 and FPM900, with the FPM910 including an integral weighing function, eliminating the need to swap between scales and the processor. De’Longhi FH1163 Multifry
A removable paddle fitted into the bowl allows for ingredients to be automatically stirred constantly and at the right speed, while the adjustable thermostat and timer provide total control. The Multifry, which comes in three models, can cook up to 1.7kg of potatoes (enough for eight people) in just 14ml of oil (equivalent to only 2.3% fat), while frozen, shop-bought chips require no oil at all. De’Longhi has compiled 250 recipes for the Multifry with Mark Sargeant, former head chef at Gordon Ramsay’s Michelin starred restaurant at Claridge’s, and are available on a dedicated app for the iPhone, iPad and Android.

Airfryer, Avance Juicer, and PerfectCare Steam Irons The Philips Airfryer’s patented Rapid Air Technology combines fast-circulating hot air with a grill to create delicious chips with up to 80% less fat _ as well as chicken nuggets, meat and even tempura prawns.
Different from other juicers, the pulp container is positioned right under the sieve to collect all the pulp for easy disposal. Once finished, the entire machine can be easily dissembled and all removable parts put in the dishwasher.

To meet the needs of the increasing number of men that shave using both electric and blades, Philips has introduced three new models of its most popular range, AquaTouch. The electronic shaver Philips AT790 AquaTouch electric shaver features Aquatec technology that ensures it is 100% waterproof, enabling men to experience the benefits of ‘dual usage’ _ the closeness of a wet shave without the skin damage that can result from blade shaving, with just one tool. The Aquatec system in Philips AquaTouch includes an in-built seal, which means that the electric shaver is fully waterproof and can be used with shaving foam or gel. Aquatec technology is already a core feature of the highend SensoTouch range, so men can choose between the convenience of a dry shave and the closeness of a wet shave, while minimising skin damage. Other key features of Philips AquaTouch are rounded caps covering the cutters to prevent the rotary blades from damaging skin. Leading Haier’s new fridge-freezer range are the A2FE635CRJ and A2FE635CCJ three-door fridge-freezers in cream and red (SRP: 899). They have a 347-litre net capacity and an A+ energy rating. The three-door design gives easy access to frozen goods via ergonomic sliding drawers, while a reversible front door can be opened in either direction. An external LCD panel regulates the temperature of all three sections, with the independent MyZone section providing 47 litres of storage at adjustable temperatures. Intelligent Super Cooling and Super Freeze functions also enable users to keep food at the optimum temperature. No Frost technology ensures that the freezer section remains frost-free while providing optimised cool air distribution throughout the entire fridgefreezer.
Chest freezers range from 3.74 to 13.38 cu ft, and with SRPs from €199 to €449.
