PCA GCR 2025 CALENDAR

KEY STROKES
The 48 Hours at Sebring PCA club race just finished. This year was the 32nd year of this great event that is the gold standard of Porsche club races. Next month’s Kassette will contain more coverage of the event.
My reason for mentioning the event is that after more than 15 years of greeting and assigning volunteer workers at the event, my wife Sherry, who has assumed many volunteer positions in GCR, was unable to attend due to a stroke. For years, Sherry has invited PCA members to work at the volunteer desk and trained them in the
different tasks required and managed over 100 race volunteers and others to maintain the high standards that the race has achieved throughout the years. My point is that all positions in the club should train others to step in and assume their role when the time arises.
The autocross chair position has been held by the same GCR member for the past 20 years. The Kassette editor position has been held by myself for the past 18 years. Both autocross and Kassette editor positions have advertised for help but no one has
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/250211222348-42c4f3c8d3bcf7f1e91782b92eaceb5d/v1/759cc9ec408031496b041f656df4b5a8.jpeg)
stepped forward. Both positions have very good support teams but need new members to train for these roles along with all of the club leadership roles.
Contact myself, Steve Kidd or any board member, chair, or club officer with your questions. As they say, we always need new blood along with the GCR experience to continue the growth of the club.
Enjoy the drive.

Kevin Jones , Membership Chair
Hello, PCA Members!
My name is Kevin Jones and I am honored to serve as your new membership chair for our club. Porsche has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I bought my first car, a Porsche 914, at the age of 17, and since then, I have been fortunate to own and enjoy a variety of Porsche vehicles over the years. These days, I split my driving time between my Cayman, which I love for spirited drives, and my daily driver, a Cayenne Turbo.
I have been a proud member of the PCA since 1997, and throughout the years, I have truly enjoyed contributing to this wonderful community.
Whether it’s been volunteering at events, hosting food and wine gatherings, or simply helping fellow members troubleshoot or maintain their cars, it is always rewarding to connect with others who share the same passion for Porsche.
In addition to my love for cars, I also devote time to helping others beyond our club. As a volunteer with Third Wave Volunteers, I have had the privilege of providing disaster relief and support to underserved communities around the world. It is a cause close to my heart, and I believe that a shared sense of community, whether local or global, can truly make a difference.
As I step into the role of membership
WELCOME NEW PCA MEMBERS
chair, I am excited to help every one of you get the most out of your PCA experience. From creating opportunities to making new friends to celebrating our shared love of Porsche, I am here to support you. I look forward to meeting more of you, hearing your stories and seeing the amazing cars that bring us all together. Let’s make this chapter an incredible one for everyone in this beautiful part of the world we are lucky to call home!
Heres to great drives, great friendships and great Porsches!

Seventh Annual Islamorada Drive & Dine
by Cynthia Fluhart
PCA Gold Coast Region’s seventh annual Dine & Drive to Islamorada Fish Company, located in the middle of the Florida Keys, was held on Sunday, January 28. It was a beautiful and slightly cool morning, but an excellent day for a drive. We had over 51 Porsches and approximately 127 members in attendance. There were several new faces as well as the return of our longtime members. We received very good feedback from members and without our member volunteers, the event would not have

been possible. A huge thank you to everyone who was able attend and enjoy the day. A very special thank you to our four volunteers who registered members at the meeting points and led the groups safely to Islamorada. Those volunteers were: Ian & Jan Gerada at Kristoff Café in Davie and Mario & Lissette Gonzalez, who met everyone in South Miami at The Snapper Creek Turnpike Plaza. Afterwards, members continued to enjoy the day and went to the local breweries or Gilberts in Key Largo.

There are 96 members that were on the waiting list, that will be the first to be on the list for the March 2nd Drive and Dine to Islamorada. Up to 125 members can attend for the restaurant capacity.
Thank you for your patience and please go to the clubregistration.net site to ensure you are in the March group and you can join us for the drive. It was great seeing everyone. Stay happy & safe!

DRT 2025...
Bigger, Better and Back to South Miami
by Steve Kidd
DRT is billed as the greatest automobile event in South Florida, and for good reasons. While not a PCA event, DRT attracts hundreds of Porsches and participants from around the country for several days of Porsche camaraderie. Following is a summary of the events and GCR’s participation.
Sunday January 12: Cars and Coffee at the same location as last year... Waterford Place in Miami. This was no ordinary C & C, rather it was a spectacular group of pristine Porsches, a swap meet and great conversations about our favorite subject. This day was about socializing with fellow Porsche owners while enjoying good food and beverages.
Wednesday January 15: The Track Experience at Homestead racetrack! This could best be described as a DE+. The driving component offered track time for advanced, intermediate and a lead follow group. I was again asked to coordinate the lead follow and assembled a great group of instructors to assist and lead. Many thanks to Herb, Fred, Danny and Dottie who assisted me in helping the newcomers learn the proper line in a safe controlled environment. We had everything from old air-cooled 911’s to the newest GT4RS! Other activities included were car displays, photo ops, socializing, as well as great food. I also was asked to “run the schedule” (make announcements and keep the run groups moving as planned) and assist with the driver meeting.
Saturday January 17 and Sunday
January 18: The main event this year was a complete takeover of the nearly empty Sunset Place Shopping Mall, close to where the event had been hosted for many years. A spectacular assembly of rare and limited addition Porsches, as well as custom builds and super clean show cars on both levels of the mall and the surrounding streets. The write-ups and pictures will most likely be available soon on the DRT website. A huge group of vendors were available to sell products and answer questions. The GCR/PCA Hospitality area was in the epicenter of the action. We had two tables on the sidewalk between Zweck and Vossen Wheels.
The objectives of the GCR Hospitality area were many, but here are a few of the key points:
1. Thanking PCA members for the support of their club and letting them know about upcoming PCA events.
2. Dottie Kidd, GCR Director, set her goals on recruiting as many new PCA Juniors as possible.
3. Identifying Porsche owners who are not yet PCA members and letting them know the benefits and fun of being a PCA member. We raffled off 16 PCA memberships, and at least four owners used the QR code to sign up and pay online and immediately received their PCA membership ID number.
4. Offering water, snacks, publications and goodies.
5. Encouraging PCA members to enter drawings held close to the end
of each day, with one grand prize offered each day. Close to 400 entries were received, and the winners were contacted by text or phone while they were still there. We are happy to report that all goodie baskets were picked up.
All told, over 400+ PCA members and Porsche owners stopped by the GCR Hospitality area, enjoyed the socializing and were welcomed into the PCA family. A huge thanks to GCR volunteers who helped at the GCR Hospitality tent and including, but not limited to Dottie, Christy, Carolynn, Larry, Tamar, Lissette, Mario,Tim,Cole and Steve.
DRT is an event not to be missed and members are encouraged to put DRT on their bucket list for 2026. Planned for 2026 is a better location, with upscale activities.

FINDING GOLD
Peggy & Paul Raben, Porsche Passion Runs Deep
Member Feature by Mark Johnson
Peggy and Paul Raben enjoy a multitude of activities with their Porsche vehicles. The enjoyment began waaaaaay back in 1983, 41 years ago when Paul first acquired his 1964 Porsche 356C in silver. It was prior to Paul meeting his wife, Peggy, as they have been married for 38 years now. One could assume that it was the Porsche that offered the original attraction for Peggy. Knowing the incredible chemistry between them, it is a realization that the Porsche may have been a catalyst, but not the reagent.
Today, after their 38 years together which included two children, five grandchildren, and a few more Porsches, this great couple have found a deep and well-found loving relationship. Their marriage has led them to a rich friendship among the Porsche friends and many Gold Coast

It’s amazing what you can put in, and on, a 356 for traveling and camping.
events and activities in their 17-year membership run.
As chance would have it, good fortune really, Peggy and Paul met at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show 39 years ago during a Halloween weekend. They had a mutual acquaintance who owned a nautical furnishing business. The friend asked each of them independently to work the booth at the show. They did not know each other prior, nor did they recognize that they may have met earlier. It seems that this mutual friend lived across the street from Paul, and Peggy was a friend of the guy’s wife.
Their subsequent wedding, held on Halloween the following year, was a costume wedding with bride and groom in costume, as were all guests.
Paul is originally from the Motor City, Detroit. Peggy was originally a Jersey Shore girl growing up in Monmouth Beach, N.J. Monmouth Beach is a bit outside of the city (NY) near Red Bank, Long Branch and the other great N.J. coastal towns. It is a very nice part of New Jersey, just too cold.
The car connection was also integral in their relationship. Peggy grew up working at her parents’ gas station in New Jersey. She was frequently pressed into service for the family business by driving the company tow truck with a manual transmission. That family duty, “became a perfect training experience for driving Porsches, which Peggy loves,” as shared by Paul.
As members of the Gold Coast Region since 2007, they will soon be
She went to Paris (Texas)
expanding their lives with the marque by spending extended periods of time traveling by Porsche. Both Paul and Peggy have retired from their respective careers and paying jobs. They owned a remodeling business that was involved with custom kitchens, bathrooms, and many built-in features. They spent 25 years building and remodeling all while planning for THE DAY.
This DAY has arrived, and while they are currently handling multiple volunteer duties – three different volunteer jobs each – they are planning several trips to visit our great country with their 356C. Consideration is also being given for a potential move from their current residence in Ft. Lauderdale, but Peggy does not want to move anywhere “cold.” Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky and other mid-Atlantic states are a touch too cool for a new permanent home. Therefore, for now, it will be a six+ hour trek north to leave Florida before getting anywhere.
Currently, the Raben’s own three Porsches each unique, none are stock. The 1964 356 has been upgraded with a big-bore kit, a free-flow exhaust and a taller fourth gear for highway driving. It is a “bathtub” version, hence a cabriolet, but it also has a removable factory hardtop. Seeing the 356 at a recent second Sunday Breakfast at Sergio’s, the car is also equipped with a wider 5” wheel that accommodates a Michelin 195 width tire. Paul understands that the contact patch that this wider tire provides is both a better ride and improved safety.
The second Porsche is a 1986 Pacific Mist Blue 930 that they have owned since 2013. On another Sunday morning drive to Sergio’s, we had the opportunity to catch up to the 930, but it became obvious the turbocharged
version of the ’86 911 had plenty of giddy-up. This Porsche has had a recent motor refresh with upgrades to the turbo system to eliminate mostly all of the turbo lag, and to make the car quicker. It is equipped with threepiece wheels with Fuchs centers, and a stainless-steel exhaust.
The third vehicle in their stable is a Seal Grey 2002 996 Twin Turbo. Paul and Peggy have modified this vehicle with a long list of features which make it perform and handle much better. The 996TT came with the X50 package from the factory. During the same Sunday morning, Paul took the wheel of the 930, Peggy drove the 996TT, and they were both seen tooling south on Interstate 595 to Pines Boulevard on the way to the monthly PCA breakfast.
Driving is what they enjoy most about their Porsches. They have attended many trips and rallies. The 356 had been all over the United States, and they have camped in multiple National Parks. Paul insists that the 356 is highly capable for such road trips and has sufficient luggage space to make distance travel a reality. The 99TT has
been the chariot of choice for several Parade trips and northbound trips to Amelia Island for the Werks Reunion. The 930, being a touch less comfy and provides raw power as opposed to comfort cruising, is used for travel and Porsche events around Florida.
On one of the many road trips, a stop in Paris, TX, was taken. We knew immediately that it was Paris, by the Eiffel Tower (see photo). Paul shared this note, “Yes, that is Paris, Texas. When we drove into town, two young men followed us because they wanted to see the 356. Every trip we have taken in the 356 attracts people that are curious or amazed that we have driven from Florida in it.” How cool is that?
Peggy Raben has been active in autocross (AX). She first took to the cones in the Porsche 930, which is not an ideal vehicle for such activity as the tail happy car. The 996TT was much better around the cones due to its all-wheel drive configuration. Most recently, the couple added a 1993 Miata to the collection, specifically for Peggy to get back onto the autocross arena. Peggy enjoys the complexity

and challenge of AX, and the Miata will be ideal for her to drive, so she’s looking forward to the opportunity.
Paul and Peggy are active in both the Porsche 356 Registry and the 356 Florida Owners Group (356 FOG). We understand that the 356 Registry is large but the 356 FOG is closer to home with roughly 240 total members. Paul is an administrator for the Porsche 356 Florida Owners Group on Facebook. It is a fun collection of 356 fans with 1500 FB members. You need not own a 356 to join the group. Certainly, for both Peggy and Paul, the love shared for their 356 is real. Paul suggests that, “if I had to pick a favorite Porsche model, it would be the 356, but the real answer is the Porsches we own are our favorites.”
Besides traveling to Parade and the very first Werks Reunion, they have visited the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta and last year included a major European trip to Portugal for the International Porsche Club Presidents meeting. During that event, they were able to drive a GT4, a GT4RS, a GT3, the GT3RS and both models of Taycan. The trip included track time
with the GT4RS and the GT3RS.
What a trip!
Paul and Peggy are longtime volunteers at the 48 Hours at Sebring Club Race event. Peggy works with several other volunteers at the 48 Hour Shop, providing T-shirts to club racers and volunteers, as well as sales of 48 Hour memorabilia to the many attendees. Paul works to coordinate volunteers for the many duties that are necessary to staff for this major event. Both Rabens have counterparts who they work with and coordinate mutual region efforts. These partners will come from the Gold Coast Region and the Suncoast Region, co-sponsors of the Club Race event. The 48 Hours at Sebring is the premier Porsche Club Race held every year at Sebring International Raceway. The 2025 event is being held at the Sebring track from January 30 to February 2, 2025.
Our Gold Coast Region events will keep Peggy and Paul Raben busy, at least as busy as they choose to be. Beyond that, the road is calling, and they must go. Traversing the miles in the 356, the 996TT, or even in the 930, the joy of driving a Porsche will be part of their day. With 38 years together, all enjoyed in a Porsche of some model designation, it is most assured that their road trips will be exciting and unique. With the extensive knowledge Paul has accumulated working on his own vehicles, the trips will certainly be taken reliably.
Many miles of fun, roads to travel, places to go and people to see! Please drop us a post card – or a Facebook post at PCA Gold Coast Group. It will be fun to follow your travels in the Porsche of choice. Miles = Smiles, the Raben’s have both scheduled.

PCA Special Interest Register
Christy Spangler, PCA National 944 Registry Chair
The PCA provides numerous opportunities to connect with fellow enthusiasts. One such avenue is the PCA Special Interest Register, designed to foster connections and networking among Porsche model owners within the PCA community.
While at Parade in Birmingham, Alabama in June this year, I met Jeff Coe, the PCA Special Interest Register Coordinator. We talked about the registers, what they are about and that each is headed up by an advocate and what that role entails. It turns out that the 944 register needed a new advocate, being interested, I worked with Jeff to transition into that role starting this past September.
What is the PCA Special Interest Register?
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/250211222348-42c4f3c8d3bcf7f1e91782b92eaceb5d/v1/d8ff697c60e5e25a249a4c2fbc60b221.jpeg)
Special Interest Registers are a PCA program designed to help Porsche owners connect with others who share an interest in a specific model. With 20 registers currently available, members can join to network and exchange valuable information.
What does the Register Advocate do?
The Register Advocate plays a key role in building and supporting the community of enthusiasts for a specific Porsche model. They maintain a roster of members who own that model, including details such as vehicle attributes, unique features and contact information. While some registers are more active than others, advocates can create web pages, manage Facebook groups and send newsletters to engage members. Working with PCA, advocates can also organize events for their register. As a bridge between the register community and PCA, advocates may be called upon to coordinate participation in events. For instance, if PCA plans to showcase a particular model at an event like the Porsche Parade, they will rely on the advocate to connect with register members and gauge interest in participating.
Currently, I am planning a 944 Register event at the 48 Hours at Sebring Club Race, January 31 - February 2, 2025.
If you would like to plan a register event for your Porsche model, look up your register advocate and reach out to them to initiate it.
How do you sign up for a register?
When you thumb through your next issue of Panorama, go to the back of the magazine. This is where they have a listing of all the registers with the advocate’s contact information. You can also find the list on https://www.pca.org/connect/special-interest-groups.

Luc - Founder of Permagard
These two Porsches, 25 years apart in age, were both treated with Permagard Automotive. Can likely will not. That’s what Permagard can do for your Porsche. It can take a 1998 Carrera S or a 2023 Carrera S, and make them both shine like Permagard acts as a durable, sacrificial layer that is added on top of your original paint to protect 100% of the paint’s thickness over its lifespan. Permagard’s added layer, combined with 100% of your paint’s thickness, is what gives that Permagard is famous for. Our competitors require wet sanding, compounding, and clay barring before their products can be applied. All of these processes remove layers of your original paint, therefore, reducing its thickness. Using our competitors’ products will result in reduced depth of gloss and protection, as the paint you are trying to protect will get thinner and thinner over time. Choose Permagard if you want to durably protect 100% of your depth of gloss. Call our Permagard Headquarters today at (305) 662-5070, to experience the Permagard your beautiful Porsche!

Our readers may remember young Ben, the autistic Porsche fan, from an article that was originally published in the Kassette - September 2021. Editor Roger Fabel suggested that the story was of such wonderful value it was reprinted in the Kassette July 2024 issue. Readers may access the article via the Gold Coast website if you no longer have the actual newsletter hard copy: https://www.goldcoastregion. org/kassette
Following the second printing of the article in July last year, a wonderful connection was made. One of our Gold Coast Region members represents a significant charitable foundation. The foundation is continuously searching for organizations that benefit from funding assistance. The foundation was looking for new and additional candidate organizations that would benefit from their support.
As shown at their website, The Hope Center for Autism in Stuart, Florida is, “dedicated to creating opportunities for individuals impacted by autism spectrum disorder along the Treasure Coast. Their purpose is to offer essential support and services to children with autism, empowering them to realize their utmost potential.”
The Hope Center in Stuart, Florida is the organization that supports the Mancinelli family and assists in treatment of Ben’s condition. The Hope Center would certainly benefit from a charitable contribution that

Ben found his father’s Porsche, and Rob “connected” with his son
supports their mission. Our GCR member sits on the review board of the foundation. They read Ben’s story in the July ‘24 Kassette and made the connection!
Rob Mancinelli - Ben’s dad, The Hope Center Board of Directors, and the foundation review Board were introduced. After several discussions and due diligence by the foundation, it was determined that an initial contribution would be made to The Hope Center for Autism in Stuart, Florida. The contribution would be made for the 2025 calendar year. There is a belief and hope that upon successful use of the funds, this will not be a one-time contribution but an ongoing annual support for The Hope Center.
We understand that the Gulfstream Region and the Gold Coast Region will plan a mutual drive event to celebrate the financial commitment for The Hope Center. As part of this drive, the route is expected to include a second
Parade past the Mancinelli home and The Hope Center location in Stuart, Florida. It will also provide Ben with an additional memory and a bit of fun to celebrate the progress made toward helping Ben find his place in society.
“It’s not just the cars, it’s the people,” when it comes to Porsche. It was an amazing short story in the club newsletter about a young man, his dad and a treatment facility. What followed was a unique string of connections that proved this axiom beyond a doubt. Gulfstream and Gold Coast Region Porsche members made a wonderful connection that resulted in a life changing opportunity for a young man that went well beyond great cars and their drivers.
(Editor’s note: At the request of our GCR member who made the connection, our member, the foundation and the amount of financial support shall remain anonymous.)

HELP WANTED GCR Autocross Chair
After 20 + years of running the AutoX program, we are looking to retire, most likely sometime in 2025. Dottie and I will be looking to train and mentor the next generation of AutoX chair and registrar. Please contact us if you have an interest in being trained and possibly carrying the AutoX torch in the years to come. Over the next few months, I will cover some of the most pressing situations that future AutoX managers will face. This Month, Equipment-Part 1, which will talk about the AutoX trailer. Next month I’ll discuss timing equipment. Towing and maintenance of the trailer has always fallen on the plate of the AutoX chair which can be time consuming, especially if the chair is also participating as a driver. I would suggest that in the future, alternative ways be explored to deal with the trailer. The trailer contains most of the things needed to run an AutoX!
Please contact AX Chair Steve Kidd at 954-292-3915
Please contact editor Roger Fabel at rfabel@aol.com for details.

PORSCHE ART
Cruising with the Air-Cooled Porsches
by Lisa Cohen, Kassette staff
Many of our PCA Gold Coast Region members are proud owners of air-cooled Porsches. They love to travel in spinoff groups from our region such as the ACBC (air-cooled breakfast crew), Vintage Vices and A&W for get-togethers, dine and drives, etc. It is a sight to see so many of our members’ vintage Porsches from the 1950’s through the late 1990’s. Have Porsche will travel.

HPDE 2025 UPDATES
Ron Wishna, DE Chair
Drivers
- Instructors - Volunteers
Have you ever considered driving on a real racetrack?
High Performance Drivers Education (HPDE) is simple and fun, with one caution.
Simple. Drive your Porsche to one of our many certified shops and have your car inspected. Typically, there is not any charge. Next, a helmet is required and can either be purchased or rented. A Snell 2015 or newer is required. Registration in advance is required and you may book a hotel room the evening prior to the HPDE.
The Fun begins when you start reading about HPDE on our club website. For example, on your first day what to expect, what to bring, a few driving tips, safety protocols and a list of certified track shops.
Learning about the racetrack is fun and the exhilaration of driving on a racetrack and letting loose is amazing. You will meet so many great people that it is impossible not to make new friends and have an incredible time. Everyone looks after each other, especially your own instructor, who will be in your car with you. From the moment you show up the night before at the team hotel to the moment you call someone to tell them you just had the most amazing day, you will be smiling. Throughout the HPDE, you will be with fellow drivers at similar levels. You will be surrounded and watched over by an experienced HPDE team, professionals and safety personnel. You will drive at a safe pace and speeds in your comfort zone.
Caution, you may love it so much that you become a track addict. To be fair, for some it is a bucket list, but it is safe, fun and a lifetime experience at your fingertips.
Save The Dates: This year the HPDE continues its tradition of excellence and excitement with track days. The events are scheduled for HomesteadMiami Speedway on June 15 and September 28. To complement the total track experience, we are offering a comprehensive, all level HPDE course one day a month, for eight months. The first class will be March 1. Details and registration will be released soon.
Your first experience may seem overwhelming, however, we just want you to enjoy it. If you have any questions, please call or write. We will talk you through it all. There is a lot of material on the site and the HPDE course would certainly answer many of your questions. We have all had our first day jitters but we want nothing to be in the way of seeing your first checkered flag.
Volunteers are needed at track to help with registration and assist HPDE officials running the event.

Fellow GCR Member Needs a Kidney!
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/250211222348-42c4f3c8d3bcf7f1e91782b92eaceb5d/v1/e1de1e972f9bb132b4f3aa54d214f132.jpeg)
Please consider getting tested to be a live kidney donor. You will save lives… including a fellow Porsche owner!
Please help get Tim Hyland back to enjoying life and his Porsches. Longtime PCA member (20+ years), Tim Hyland has been dealing with a life-changing medical journey. It began as a kidney infection from COVID and rapidly progressed to stage 5/ end stage kidney failure. He is on dialysis for 11+ hours every night, dealing with extensive health issues, constant Doctor appointments and cannot work full-time.
While he is on the National Kidney Registry, it is a 3-6 year waiting list for his O+ blood type but cannot wait that long. A living donor organ has a higher success and functions immediately after transplant. A live donor can be any sex, blood type and over the age of 18. Certain conditions exclude you from being a donor: cancer, chronic hypertension, autoimmune disease, diabetes and obesity. Testing is comprised of a phone call with the transplant team, stress test, CT scan, physical, blood work, and medical history doctor review. The tests serve as an excellent review of your overall health as well.
If there are any unexpected expenses during the process, they will be handled by the Hyland Family Fund or Tim’s medical insurance coverages.
If you are a good candidate and match, you would undergo a procedure and return to normal life in a few short days. Even if you have a different blood type, you can be matched with someone else in need of a kidney. In return, Tim will go to the top of the waiting list and receive a living kidney from another donor at the same time.
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/250211222348-42c4f3c8d3bcf7f1e91782b92eaceb5d/v1/265719f5df6f15e05b51ff4e70e7c998.jpeg)
Fortunately, kidneys are the “organ with a spare” where everyone has two kidneys and the ability to resume a perfectly normal life with one healthy kidney.
![](https://assets.isu.pub/document-structure/250211222348-42c4f3c8d3bcf7f1e91782b92eaceb5d/v1/105bb7b2610f7177bc4ce85795ba4f9d.jpeg)
Tim simply wants to return to a normal life, good health, and care for his wife, Melissa, and their 15-year-old daughter Gracie. He and his family have enjoyed 20+ years of Porsche ownership. Tim ordered his Carrera 4S brand new in 2004 and it currently has 72,500 miles. He was fortunate to acquire a 1983 911 SC in 2011 with a unique race history and a featured car in an automotive book.
Between drives, road trips, concours and 20+ years of track events through the East Coast and Canada, car clubs have been a great part of their lives. Tim has been a driving instructor since 2006 and involved in events for Audi, BMW, Porsche and Ferrari.
After his transplant and recovery, Tim and his family look forward to a return to GCR events (in some form) and enjoy many of the events the club has to offer!
Please scan this QR code or visit https://nkr.org/YJD332 to read more about Tim’s story and how you can become a donor. Please contact Tim for any questions at tmghyland@gmail.com.
All donors receive support & protections through the National Kidney Registry. Details on the website.

981 Dream Garage
Joe Carballosa & Linda Perry submitted this photo of their 2016 Cayman GT4 and 2016 Boxster Spyder.
Joe feels that he and Linda are very blessed to have the two pinnacles of the 981 Caymans/Boxsters. They love these cars because, at around 2,950 pounds, they are the lightest Porsches made in the 21st century. Both mid-engine and manual transmission cars have the virtually indestructible 3.8 liter flat six from the 997.2 and 991.1 911 S.”
The GT4 is modified with Dundon intake runners, Soul headers/exhaust, GT3 throttle body, IPD Plenum, lightweight single mass flywheel and sport tune. The Spyder is modified with Dundon intake runners, Dundon headers, GT3 throttle body, IPD Plenum and sport tune. The cars make around 440 horsepower.
The GT4 is more planted. The Spyder feels more nimble. For the track, it is obviously the GT4. On a curvy mountain road, it has got to be the Spyder with the top down every time. “We are living a Porsche lover’s American dream!” says Joe.
Recently, Joe and Linda ran into George Notaras from Manhattan Beach, CA also known as "The Motoman" YouTube car reviewer who gave them a “thumbs up” on the NOTAPDK license plate as well as their Porsche.
Joe took this photo with an iPhone 12.
