Join your guide to discover how easy it is to kayak scenic lakes around Arizona. The instructor will provide some basic kayaking instruction and get you out on the water to see the sites of the lake. Gila Monsters, Snakes, & More! Desert Wildlife Exploration

Learn about rattlesnakes, Gila monsters, desert tortoises, and more, from the Arizona Herpetolocial Society! We’ll learn how to tell if a snake is venomous or nonvenomous, and what to do (& not do) if you see a desert critter. Nature Field Trip - Audubon Society Animal Encounters

Get an up-close look at live birds that share our desert home! Meet avian wildlife ambassadors (unreleasable due to injury) and learn about their amazing behaviors. We’ll explore the Audubon Society’s interpretive nature center, enjoy a picnic, and take a hike on the interpretive loop trail of the Rio Solado Habitat Restoration area. HELP WANTED! We are looking for individuals who are good with children, enjoy helping them participate in a variety of programs and activities and are looking for a great work environment. The AM/PM program provides elementary school-aged children with a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, games, events, field trips during school breaks, outdoor activities and more at 22 Peoria Unified School District elementary schools before and after school. Employment opportunities are available for the position of Recreation Leaders I to support the program and assist the Recreation Leader III responsible for an AM/PM site.

The Youth Advisory Board consists of nineteen local youth who advise the City Council, through the City Manager, on recreation programs, events, ordinances and proposals pertaining to youth within our community. Teen Dating Violence Prevention

This course focuses on the effects that dating violence has on our youth. The overall goal is to provide teens with the knowledge and skills necessary to have a healthy relationship, know if they are in an abusive relationship, be able to help a friend or family member identify abuse, and most importantly, how to stay safe. Beginning Hiking

We are starting a new series of hikes across the valley. Hikes will be on flatter trails with some inclines and declines that are specified for the beginner. Make sure to wear appropriate shoes and clothing. Bring water and wear sunscreen on all hikes. Rainy weather will result in cancellation. North Mountain Hike and Visitors Center Join us for a basic hike at North Mountain. After we will stop at the visitor’s center. We will be utilizing the city vans to travel to the hike destination. Learn the “New” CPR - CCC/AED Training

Be a ‘lifesaver!’ Learn the new CPR technique called ‘Continuous Chest Compression’ (CCC). Unlike the ‘old’ CPR, it’s easy and requires no mouth-to-mouth contact. Learn how to respond to a cardiac emergency, perform chest compressions and use an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator). This is a non-certification class. Fee FREE Res. / $10 Non-Res.
