EDITOR’S NOTE Hello, fellow Key Clubbers, Let’s (belatedly) welcome a new service year with the September-October newsletter! In case you don’t already know me, I’m your 2015-2016 PHS Key Club Editor. I’ll be releasing monthly issues detailing past and future events, so be sure to check in every now and then J I look forward to serving alongside you all this year, and happy reading ~ Yours Sincerely, Katherine Yang 2015-2016 Editor

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Hello fellow Key Clubbers! Welcome back to another great school year! Although it has only been two months since school started, our club sure has accomplished a lot! In September, our members helped out the Kiwanis stand at Parsippany’s annual Fall Festival by distributing surveys and fundraising for the local community. We were able to raise $153.63 for disabled. Also, we started our book drive, to assist Ms. Skibitski’s daughter-in-law’s school, since the children there do not have books in their houses to read. We really appreciate those who have already brought in books-it has impacted these children greatly! We kicked off October with Fall Rally, where Key Clubbers were able to learn more about Key Club at a district level while still enjoying the rides that Six Flags had to offer. The majority of October was spent planning for Halloween at the High, a fun filled extravaganza for children to experience the joys of Halloween in a safe and controlled environment. A big thanks to general members that helped out in our planning committees, and the cochairs that helped our officer heads direct their events. Halloween at the High was a great success, and a great delight to the neighborhood children. We have a couple of events planned for November and December, so be sure to check in into our general meetings for more details! Yours in Caring and Service, Yang Fu PHS Key Club President ‘15-’16

LTG’S MESSAGE Hello Key Clubbers of the New Jersey District, My name is Priya Lad from Parsippany High School Key Club and it is with great pleasure to introduce myself as the Lieutenant Governor of Division 20 for the 2015-2016 service year. As a freshman, I entered Key Club at a complete utter lost and confusion. I was unsure of what the major emphasis of Key Club was and believed that we actually made keys. Fooled by the name of the club, I was quite surprised when I learnt a student run organization could have such an impact on my home, my community and world. Through my two years of being a part of the club, I learnt the meaning of giving back to your community and striving to do better. Likewise, I was given the chance to serve my home club as Historian in the 2014-2015 service year. Working side by side by my fellow officers, I was able to learn the ins and outs of a successful club. For those you are still unsure of who I am, I ensure you that I am a typical high student who stresses on a daily basis to finish my homework and cram for my exams. In my free time, you most likely will find me stuffing my face or sleeping. I also watch an endless amount of TV shows, draw, and paint, run and read books. On a serious note, during the upcoming service year, there are some key goals I would like to accomplish as a division. It is key for not only Division 20 to work together, but it will help us make a bigger difference on a worldwide spectrum.

Some goals that I would like to meet: - Meet quorum for at least 2 out of 5 Divisional Council Meetings - Get all the officers trained by the beginning of the school year - Improve the communication and participation within the club

- Establish key goals for each club to meet - Help each and every club reach their goal for the service year

It is my duty to transfer your message to the district board. I will not fail you and be right by your side when taking the next step to reach your club’s goal for the service year. Please feel free to ask me any questions or tell me ideas for events which I could convey to all my other peers. I ensure you I will be the factor that will create a difference within our division, the New Jersey district and the world.

Yours in caring and service, Priya Lad 2015-2016 Division 20 Lieutenant Governor New Jersey District of Key Club International

FALL FESTIVAL Fall Festival is a free, annual event in Lake Hiawatha that involves food, vendors, non-profit community group stalls, kiddie rides, entertainment, and music. This year, the Kiwanis stand distributed surveys about service and fundraised $154.63 for the disabled! Thank you to everyone who volunteered and helped out J

FALL RALLY Fall Rally, which happened this year on October 11th at Six Flags Great Adventure, was the largest gathering of NJ Key Clubbers thus far and kicked off a new school year of service. Members attended an informative session in the morning and then received passes to access rides for the rest of the day. It was a great opportunity to learn about Key Club simultaneously have a lot of fun!

H@H PHS Key Club’s biggest October event is Halloween at the High, which took place on October 28th. For one night, our school was transformed into a spooky but safe environment for young children to trick-or-treat in. With the options of receiving candy, getting their faces painted, playing games, and walking through a haunted house, many children left with big smiles and full trick-or-treat bags. We were spotlighted in Parsippany Focus and also raised $51.51 for UNICEF. Thank you to all members (especially co-chairs) who made this night a success!
