EDITOR’S NOTE Hello, fellow Key Clubbers, As school starts picking up, I hope all of you are still sleeping enough hours at night! Our service year is starting to get into full swing, so keep your eye out for all the service opportunities that are appearing around you. Also, see if you can spot our guest speakers in this November newsletter! As always, happy reading ~ Yours Sincerely, Katherine Yang 2015-2016 Editor

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving break, full of happiness and food! November was the month for the March of Dimes, and we were able to can outside of QuickChek, raising $161.78 for this organization, which supports babies born prematurely. Furthermore, our Key Clubbers were able to serve the children in our local community, as they volunteered at the Parsippany Daycare, and participated in our newly restarted SKIP reading program. Keep up the great participation, and don’t forget to help out in Key Club’s biggest performance event of the year— Coffeehouse! More details can be found in this issue. Yours in Caring and Service, Yang Fu PHS Key Club President ’15-‘16

MARCH OF DIMES CANNING November is Prematurity Awareness month and also the month of March of Dimes. March of Dimes is an organization that not only works to end premature births but also helps mothers with pregnancies, doing all it can to ensure that there are more and more healthy babies every year. This year, PHS Key Club canned at QuickChek on November 21. Due to everyone’s help, we managed to fundraise $161.78 for this wonderful cause. A big thanks to all who volunteered!

SKIP READING The SKIP readings are an activity in Key Club I really enjoy because most high schoolers don’t get to interact with young kids that often. I get particularly excited to sign up for the readings at Northvail because that’s my old elementary school and it’s fun seeing how much it’s changed and stayed the same. The kids, however, are the best part of the readings. Although dealing with them can be tiring, they always easily manage to brighten my day. — GUEST SPEAKER Nina Chen, general member

DAYCARE VISITS Volunteering at the local daycare is a great way to get involved with the community. Ranging in age from 2 to 5, the children there love interacting with members. No matter what, you are sure to have a good time when with these small and imaginative busy-bodies. Their smiles and laughter are amazingly therapeutic, especially after a long day of school! — GUEST SPEAKER Miki Hansen, Vice President

UPCOMING… COFFEEHOUSE Coffeehouse is a fun, performance-based event that PHS Key Club hosts annually. Key Clubbers and non-members alike are encouraged to attend as well as take part in this three-hour event. This school year, Coffeehouse will take place on January 8th from 6-9PM in Cafeteria 1. Many English teachers are offering extra credit to those who participate; acts can vary from dramatic readings to singing and dancing to reading your own poetry. In order to make this night a success, we’ll need the help of every member. Whether you sign up for an act, any of the committees, or bring in food for hours, we need your participation! Tickets can be bought from any one of the officers for either $3 or 3 cans of food and all proceeds will go to the NJ Federation of Food Banks. Please encourage participation amongst your friends and peers! If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact one of the officers. We’ll be glad to assist J
