EDITOR’S NOTE Hey Key Club! Unfortunately, this will be my last newsletter. The month of February has been great for PHS Key Club, and so has this entire service year. Thank you all for serving alongside me, I had a wonderful time! For the last time ever, I’d like to wish you all a very happy reading J Yours Sincerely, Katherine Yang 2015-2016 Editor

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Hello friends! February sure was an exciting month! First and foremost, congratulations to our new officer board—we are so excited for the new idea and service that you’ll all bring to the upcoming service year! The new officers will be featured in this issue, but please make sure to congratulate and welcome them in person also! But February was not just the month of elections! We had an extremely successful bagel sale, where we sold bagels during midterms days. Funds from this sale will go towards our local Parsippany food pantry. Speaking of food, we are also having a can contest between the grade levels, where the cans will also be donated to the Parsippany pantry as well—be sure to read the article about this event in the newsletter! And, let’s not forget that the 2015-2016 service year went out with a bang! Our last service project, a fundraiser for the Taiwan earthquake relief, was a joint effort between Key Club and the Asian American Club, where we had food sales and canning as well. Again, more details will be found in this issue—I don’t want to give everything away! J

Yours in Caring and Service, Yang Fu PHS Key Club President '15-'16

BAGEL SALE During midterms this month, Key Club sold bagels on the mornings of February 2nd and 3rd. Each bagel was $2 with butter and/or cream cheese, with a variety including poppy seed, sesame, and plain bagels. We raised a good amount of money for the NJ Federation of Food Banks, so thank you to everyone who brought in supplies, volunteered during a shift, and/or bought bagels!

CAN CONTEST The Parsippany Food Pantry was in dire need of non-perishable donations very recently and so the PHS Key Club held a can contest called “We Can Do It! to meet this need. The contest ran over the course of two weeks, ending 3/1, and members were awarded one hour for every three cans. The winning class, the sophomores, earned double the hours for their 89 cans! Overall, we were able to donate over 205 cans. Thank you to everyone who participated, especially the sophomores!

TAIWAN EARTHQUAKE FUNDRAISER To finish off the service year strong, we held a joint fundraiser with the Asian American Club to provide monetary relief to Taiwan because of the recent earthquake there. We sold hot cocoa and ramen on February 25th and 26th, which raised around $225. Additionally, we canned at QuickChek and Walgreens February 27th, raising a totally of approximately $502. All proceeds were donated to Tzi Chi, a Taiwanese relief organization. It just goes to show that even we can make a difference J Thanks to all who helped out!

ELECTION RESULTS I’m honored to announce your PHS officer board for the 2016-2017 Key Club service year! Please be sure to congratulate them when you see them J
