Statement: For more than a year, our parks facilities have been a refuge where we all could enjoy a healthy break from the pandemic. I’m running for Metro Parks Commissioner because our parks need a commitment to equity and to better serve our diverse community.

I hear too often about families not feeling welcome in their local park, or about how they need to drive across town to the “good park” or the “safe park.” This proves we need more equity in how we serve our community.

Great parks require a commitment to stewardship – planning for future generations. Today this stewardship is threatened by a budget shortfall. As a voter, you need to know that I’m committed to being careful with our taxes and how we spend our money. Now is the time to look for cost savings, and outside revenue sources

My dad was in the Army, met my mom in Korea, later our family moved to Fort Lewis. I love Tacoma, our diversity, our grittiness and our environment. This is a great city, made better through our parks. We’ve all endured so much for so long, but I’m hopeful for our future. I would appreciate your support!
