Argyle v Hounslow. March 8, 2020
WELCOME WORDS HELLO everyone and welcome back to Manadon Sports and Community Hub, where we welcome Hounslow for their short stay in Plymouth. Our warm welcome goes out to Martino, his staff and players for what will be a tough encounter in this National League Southern fixture. I have known Martino for a while and I know he will have his team organised and up for the game today. We return to our league campaign after a disappointing defeat in the National Plate competition last week against West Bromwich Albion. We wish them all the best in the final which will see them play either Middlesbrough or Watford. Lastly, I would just like to wish our development side all the best for their quarter-final of the
Bristol Soccerworld Cup with Bristol Ladies. I am sure Rob and Ryan will have the team all fired up after a really good session in the week at training. I hope you all enjoy the game.
Come on You Greens!

TODAY’S VISITORS:
HOUNSLOW
ORIGINALLY formed in 2001 as a merger between Wembley Hill FC and QPR Women, Hounslow existed as the affiliated women’s team of Queen’s Park Rangers until the summer of 2019, when a dispute about registration led them to return to independent status as Hounslow Women’s FC. The team plays its home fixtures at Honeycroft, in West Drayton, which is shared with Uxbridge FC. Last season, their final campaign before the name change to Hounslow, the team finished second from bottom in the Southern Premier Division, winning two games from a possible 22, ending the season on 11 points. This season has been equally challenging for today’s visitors, who arrive at Manadon this afternoon still searching for their first win of the campaign. They are currently positioned one place, and one point, above bottom side Chichester City. In what has been a disappointing season so far, Hounslow’s top scorer is captain Sue Kumaning, with two goals to her name. Sydney Hinchcliffe is the side’s only other player to have scored a league goal this season, and she also leads
been challenging but rewarding and an excellent experience,” the club writes on its GoFundMe page. “The club, while trying to compete, is also fighting for equality in football and helping the local community. It is giving an opportunity for local girls to develop and play at a great level. But in order to continue to fight for equality and giving chances to local players, it

Hounslow’s season has been disrupted by the heavy rain in February, with the last two scheduled fixtures, against Cardiff City and Portsmouth, postponed due to waterlogged pitches. Their most recent game, on February 23, resulted in a 4-0 home defeat to Milton Keynes Dons, while they also suffered heavy defeats to Crawley Wasps (5-0), Yeovil Town (9-0), and Cardiff City (6-0). In their last five fixtures, their solitary point came away at bottom side Chichester, who held them to a goalless draw. In January of 2020, the club launched a crowdfunding campaign to try and secure the necessary capital to ensure its long-term future. At the point of writing, the campaign has secured £270 of its £10,000 goal, which seeks to fund playing kit, pitch hire, travel costs and officials’ expenses. “Hounslow Women Football Club are now midway through their first ever season as a club. must have the funds necessary to push the club forward and to spread the message it is trying to portray. All the funds raised will go towards keeping Hounslow competitive, by providing the girls and the club the necessary means to compete.” For more information, or to donate to this afternoon’s opposition, visit gofundme.com/f/hounslow-women-fc.
