Formerly Hotel Austria, now Hotel Adria. The history of a transformation | Tourism was only in its infancy in South Tyrol in the 19th century, while Merano was already a popular destination. The mild climate was widely known and Empress Sissi came here for her cures. High nobility and the bourgeoisie followed her. In 1885, the Langguth family took advantage of the flourishing period and constructed Hotel Austria in Merano Maia Alta. The elevator, which is still in operation, dates back to 1914. The former owners finally changed the hotel name to Hotel Adria. In 1970, the first indoor pool in Merano was realised in Hotel Adria. Soon, the first modern wellness treatments were offered. Since 1982, the hotel has been in the possession of the Amort-Ellmenreich family, your current hosts.
