3. The Martello Tower

3. The Martello Tower is the largest and Northernmost of 103 English defensive towers built between 1808 and 1812 to repel a Napoleonic invasion. The quatrefoil tower was built with nearly a million bricks and stands at the Orford end of the sea wall.

1. The Moot Hall

1. The Moot Hall, headquarters of the Town Council and the Museum. Built in the 16th Century and one of the most photographed buildings in the town.

4. Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears’ home in Aldeburgh offers a charming snapshot into the two men’s lives. The farmhouse, nestled in a beautiful fiveacre garden, is home to their collections and archive, alongside a gallery space, museum shop and outdoor café.

2. The Scallop

2. The Scallop, the stainless steel sculpture created by artist Maggie Hamlin and constructed in the town by Peggs. It is inscribed with words taken from Britten’s opera, Peter Grimes.
