ACCESSIBILITY If your child wants to participate in a day camp and needs special attention, please contact us so that we can assess the possibility of providing him or her with an accessible, safe and fun environment. ASSOCIATION DES CAMPS DU QUÉBEC (ACQ) Sports and recreational camps: The City of Pointe-Claire has just joined the Cadre de référence des camps de jour municipaux of the Association des camps du Québec, a reference framework for municipal day camps that emphasizes quality experience and child safety. The qualification process will continue this summer with a series of visits at sports and recreational day camps in order to confirm our compliance with the guidelines of the Cadre de référence. The MULTI Card enables residents to register for all City activities. It is free and includes the number needed to register in LUDIK. To register your child for a camp, you will need your child’s MULTI Card or LUDIK number as well as your own. To obtain a MULTI Card: • Go to the Central Library, Aquatic Centre or City Hall. • A photo will be taken of each family member aged 6 and up. • If you are obtaining the card for the first time, you will be asked to show proof of identity and proof of residence for each person. • The card is valid for two years. Non-residents may obtain a LUDIK number by contacting our offices at Recreation, the Canoe-Kayak Club, or the Stewart Hall Cultural Centre.
REGISTRATION • M ake sure you have your MULTI Card or LUDIK number handy for each family member. • Make sure the phone number recorded in the LUDIK system is your current phone number. • Pay with Visa, Mastercard or American Express. • Make sure you fill out the Family Profile Form (the social insurance number (SIN) is required by the government in order for them to send the relevé 24 slip). • Go to ludik.pointe-claire.ca. The Family Profile Form is required for your child to participate in camp.

GENERAL RULES BEHAVIOUR AND DISCIPLINARY MEASURES To make sure everyone has a safe, fun and exciting summer, a number of rules for behaviour must be followed. We ask for your cooperation so that your child understands camp rules and commits to following them.
BEHAVIOUR • N o disrespectful behaviour will be tolerated. • No verbal or physical abuse of other children or camp staff will be tolerated. • Misbehaviour will lead to disciplinary action.
CARE FOR FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT Facilities and equipment must be treated with care at all times. No vandalism of any kind will be tolerated. Any damages resulting from acts of vandalism will be billed to the child’s parent or legal guardian.
PERSONAL ENTERTAINMENT DEVICES AND ITEMS To provide children with a stimulating experience and help them develop social skills through interaction with their peers, we ask you to keep the following items at home: • • • •

SYSTEM FOR DISCIPLINARY MEASURES Camp staff uses a four-step system for disciplinary measures. STEP A A child who fails to comply with camp rules will be given a verbal warning by his or her counsellor. All misbehaviour will be noted. STEP B After the child has been given three verbal warnings, the supervisor will tell parents about their child’s misbehaviour. Parents and supervisor will try to find a solution together. STEP C (recreational and sports camps only) If the disrespectful behaviour persists, the camp supervisor will warn the parents and introduce a behaviour table for the child in order to ensure daily follow-up. STEP D If there is no improvement, the following steps will be taken: 1. The child will be suspended from camp for one day or one field trip. Parents will receive a written warning. 2. The child will be suspended for a period ranging from three days to one week. Parents will receive a second written warning. 3. The child will be expelled from camp for the rest of the summer. Written warnings will include details of all interventions by counsellors and supervisors. THERE WILL BE NO REFUND OF THE REGISTRATION FEE FOR A CHILD WHO IS EXPELLED FROM CAMP.
INFORMATION REFUNDS – CANCELLING A WEEK
CHANGING WEEKS
Requests for refunds must be made in writing and must include the following information:
Sports, recreational and canoe-kayak camps If you want to change a week for which a child is registered for another week of camp, there will be no fee if both weeks still have remaining spots left. Otherwise, there will be a transfer fee.

For sports camps (Bourgeau, Ovide and Arthur-Séguin), it is not possible to cancel a single week, as these camps are organized in two-week sessions. REFUNDS WILL BE MADE BY CHEQUE. PLEASE ALLOW FOUR TO SIX WEEKS FOR PROCESSING. ABSENCES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE. Canoe-kayak camps Up to 7 days before camp begins: $25 per participant Less than 7 days before camp begins: 50% of registration fee ABSENCES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE. Please contact the relevant department for information about the amount of the cancellation fee.
Cultural camps Requests for changes must be submitted in writing at least eight working days before the beginning of the week to be changed. REQUESTS ARE SUBJECT TO APPROVAL. A TRANSFER FEE WILL BE CHARGED. No transfer will be approved less than eight days before camp begins.
NSF CHEQUES There will be a fee of at least $35 for NSF cheques.

DAILY ORGANIZATION AT CAMP LUNCH AND SNACKS
If your child has any kind of allergy, you must indicate it in the Family Profile Form and advise the camp supervisor.
Your child must bring a snack and a water bottle every day. Healthy snacks such as fruit, cheese, vegetables, or chewy bars are encouraged. Chocolate and candy are not recommended.

ENVIRONMENT: BOOMERANG LUNCHES The use of reusable containers and water bottles is recommended instead of plastic bags, bottles or clingwrap. A recycling program is offered in the camps to raise kids’ awareness of issues related to waste management.
If it is a full-day camp, you must also plan for your child’s lunch. Some camps provide a paid lunch option (see sections for each specific camp). Microwave ovens are available for some camps. For more information, contact the camp directly.
HEALTH Family Profile Form When registering your child, you must fill out a Family Profile Form for her or him.
NUT-FREE ENVIRONMENT: To ensure everyone’s safety, it is forbidden to bring any food that might contain nuts, peanuts or peanut butter. It is also forbidden for children to share their snacks with others.
Sunscreen It is mandatory for campers to wear sunscreen. Your child must bring a bottle of sunscreen on
Lice If lice are present, all parents will be notified. It is your responsibility to make sure that your child does not have lice, or to do everything that is required to eliminate them. Children who have lice must stay home; they may come back to camp after having been treated. Camp supervisors reserve the right to carry out an inspection when a child returns. Medication If your child requires medication, the supervisor must be informed. If you want a camp counsellor to help your child take medication, you must provide written consent as well as the original prescription bottle.

REGULAR HOURS, LATE PICKUP AND EARLY DROPOFF Half-day (morning or afternoon) or full-day camps are offered. Full-day and morning camps begin at 9 a.m. and afternoon camps begin at 12:30 p.m. Please check Day Camps Pointe-Claire for each camp’s specific hours. There is a 15-minute grace period for pickup and dropoff; later, or earlier, parents will be charged an additional $1 per minute fee, to be paid to the counsellor. If your child is dropped off late, you must accompany him or her to their camp room.

LUNCHES Children participating in full-day camps will eat lunch under the supervision of a camp counsellor. Each child must bring a lunch and a snack. The Cultural Centre does not offer canteen services.

REGULAR HOURS, LATE PICKUP AND EARLY DROPOFF Regular camp hours are usually from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There is a 10-minute grace period for pickup and dropoff; later, or earlier, you will be charged a daycare fee. • Y ou can reserve a week’s daycare in advance or register your child at any time. • Schedules will be confirmed when you register (daycare is usually provided 75 minutes before and 90 minutes after regular camp hours). • Check Day Camps Pointe-Claire for camp schedules and daycare services.

If your child’s lunch has been forgotten, you will be notified by phone. If you are unable to drop off a lunch, a lunch will be provided, for which you will be asked to pay at the end of the day.

At the beginning of Junior, Senior and Kidnetic camps, campers take a swim test. They are given a coloured bracelet according to their level and are required to comply with safety rules designed for this level.

Swimming lessons are given at the sports camps (Arthur-Séguin, Ovide and Bourgeau). It is important to indicate your child’s swimming level when you fill out the relevant form.
TRIPS Weekly field trips are organized. Junior, Senior, Kidnetic and Teen campers must bring their lunch (no microwave is available). On some trips, Teen campers are allowed to go off in groups. They must have a signed parent consent form and agree to check in regularly with camp counsellors. For safety reasons, Junior, Senior and Kidnetic campers must wear the day camp T-shirt on outings. The T-shirt is on sale at all camps.

REGULAR HOURS Activities are offered in half-day or full-day periods. Half-day camp hours are usually 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Full-day camps are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Canoe-kayak lessons are offered at various times. Please check Day Camps Pointe-Claire for schedules specific to each camp.
LUNCHES The Canoe-Kayak Club offers canteen services during lunch hour, providing snacks and light meals. Contact the department for more information about menus and prices.
