PROGRAMS – June 23 to August 28* The City of Pointe-Claire offers a wide range of cultural, recreational, sports and paddling camps for children and teens in a safe and stimulating environment. * Week 0: June 23 to 26 (paddling camps only) There are no activities on June 24 and July 1, due to Québec's National Holiday and Canada Day.

Cultural Day Camps

CAMP DESCRIPTION CULTURAL CAMPS |  CREATIVE MORNINGS Every morning, children become little creators, discovering different art forms through playful workshops combining visual arts, creative dance, theatre and music. Workshop themes change every week, making it even more fun.

Age:  3 1/2 to 5*

Weeks 5, 6 and 7

Stewart Hall Cultural Centre *Children must be able to go to the bathroom on their own.

|  CULTURAL DAY DAMP Visual arts, dance, music and theatre: this camp offers a range of cultural activities, both indoors and out. Kids discover various forms of creative expression through lively workshops. They're sure to have fun with our talented team of workshop leaders, who are all specialists in their field!

Age:  6 to 12**

Weeks 1 to 8

Maximum 10 children per group. Children are divided by age group. Stewart Hall Cultural Centre ** Your child must be 6 years old by September 30 or have finished kindergarten.

CULINARY ARTS |  APPRENTICE COOKS CAMP Children learn how to make healthy and delicious food for the whole family. From healthy snacks to comfort food, they develop useful culinary skills that give them confidence and independence in the kitchen. Environmental awareness is encouraged.

Age:  6 to 12

Lunch is included; bring a nut-free snack. Stewart Hall Cultural Centre

PERFORMING ARTS |  CIRCUS CAMP It’s time to get moving with Circus Camp! Object manipulation, balance, gymnastics and clowning: based on the chosen disciplines, your child will develop strength and abilities while discovering new interests. Kids will love this multidisciplinary art form!

Age:  6 to 12

Weeks 2 and 3

Productions Bataclan A short performance will be presented to friends and family at the end of each week. Different activities each week. Stewart Hall Cultural Centre |  DANCE CAMP Through rhythm, movement and choreographies, children develop and improve their artistic expression and dance technique. This lively camp will get children moving while building their self-esteem and creative potential.

Age:  6 to 12

Weeks 4, 7 and 8

Stewart Hall Cultural Centre |  MAGIC CAMP Every morning, children begin their day with a brief magic show. Accompanied by a magician, they explore the different aspects of magic, such as card manipulation, stage magic, mentalism, micromagic, and much more! They learn to make and modify objects to create an illusion, successfully perform conjuring tricks, and develop their stage presence.

Weeks 5 and 6

The budding magicians will participate in a small performance every Friday. Magic tricks may be repeated from one week to another.

Marc Trudel Magicien Stewart Hall Cultural Centre |  THEATRE CAMP Welcome to the theatre! Young actors develop their skills and interact with others who share the same passion. Depending on the week chosen, children work on voice projection, singing, stage presence, humour, body language, improvisation, diction, interpretation and character building.

VISUAL ARTS |  VISUAL ARTS CAMP Children delve into the realm of the visual arts by exploring various exciting techniques such as collage, painting, collagraphy, modeling, engraving and printmaking. They experiment with a variety of creative approaches, including watercolour, acrylic, textiles, pastel and ink on different media. New techniques and materials will be introduced each week. FILM AND MULTIMEDIA |  MULTIMEDIA CAMP An exciting summer camp for those wanting to explore various media, including dubbing, stop-motion animation, newscasting, reporting, special effects, green screens, video editing and a surprise activity to round off the program.

Campers receive their final product on a USB key at the end of camp.

Productions Bataclan Stewart Hall Cultural Centre |  STOP-MOTION ANIMATION CAMP Kids create their own animated film! Young filmmakers discover various techniques used to make animated films. With construction paper and play dough, they learn to build characters and sets to tell a story. A unique opportunity to learn more about the secrets of stop-motion animation!

MUSIC |  MUSIC CAMP A fun introduction to musical instruments and song that helps children develop their musical talents and creativity. By participating in a music ensemble, they also learn the value of playing with others.

SCIENCE |  ECO-EXPLORERS CAMP Children discover biodiversity in a fun atmosphere. As they delve into the worlds of ornithology, entomology and botany, they learn to identify insects, critters, birds, mammals, trees and plants. They also partake in challenges through activities focusing on the senses and careers in ecology.

Sports and Recreational Camps 2019 2020

Camps featuring all kinds of recreational and fun activities focused on a different theme each week. The City of Pointe-Claire's sports and recreational camps comply with the requirements of the Cadre de référence des camps de jour municipaux of the Association des camps du Québec (ACQ), which defines the best practices to ensure programs provide a safe, quality experience (www.camps.qc.ca). Activities take place Monday to Friday, according to the following schedule: Week 1: June 29 to July 3 (Monday to Friday; closed Wednesday due to Canada Day) Week 2: July 6 to 10 Week 3: July 13 to 17 Week 4: July 20 to 24 Week 5: July 27 to 31

TERRA-COTTA NATURE ADVENTURE CAMP

Age:  8 to 12*

Campers will be introduced to the local fauna and flora of Pointe-Claire by taking the morning to explore and partake in activities at Terra-Cotta Natural Park with an environmental specialist. They will then spend the afternoon playing games and sports with a day camp instructor and learning soccer skills with a coach. Terra-Cotta Chalet

A drop-in program for kids. Free access. No payment required. Activities: arts and crafts, inter-park challenges, soccer and ball-hockey tournaments, Le Sablon beach outings and more. Children are free to come and go as they please. Parents are welcome to join in at all times. For scheduled activities and outings, children must register in the park at the beginning of the program. Paddling Camps

Note: Due to work at the Grande-Anse Park chalet, children will be dropped off and picked up at the Pointe-Claire Canoe Kayak Club. The Nautical Activities Department offers a variety of full-day and half-day camps for children ages 7 to 15. Participants discover water sports while learning about safety on the water in an environment focused on helping each other out and instilling a sense of community.

Paddling camps offer an adapted program for people with disabilities. Alternative activities are planned for rainy or bad weather days. Activities take place from Monday to Friday, according to the following schedule: Week 0: June 23 to 26 (registration by the day)

CANOE KAYAK LESSONS: KIDDY CANOE AND CRICKET Kiddy Canoe: Children born between 2013 and 2015  Cricket: Children born between 2009 and 2012 Children learn the rules of open water safety and how to paddle a canoe or kayak in a safe and encouraging environment.
