a m e s s a g e f r o m t h e m ay o r A vibrant city in every season! Dear Citizens, After a busy summer and fall filled with new developments, it gives me great pleasure to present this Winter–Spring 2020 Leisure Pointe-Claire guide, where you will find all of the cultural activities, sports and day camps available in your city, with something for all tastes, ages and interests. Pointe-Claire boasts exceptional indoor and outdoor facilities that are a source of great pride for us. These places are bustling with the many activities that take place there. We invite you to take full advantage of them, whether it be alone, as a family or with friends. john belvedere mayor

In the centre of the city, the beautiful Terra-Cotta Park is one of these special places. With its 4.4 kilometres of hiking trails, this 40-hectare woodland offers extraordinary opportunities to enjoy nature just steps from home. To make the most of it, a special program of activities is planned there from January to May. One Saturday a month, we invite you to rediscover this park through various daytime and evening activities, such as hiking, snowshoeing, enjoying tales and games, and of course, hot chocolate! In the spring, you can take part in a cleaning bee to beautify the park or observe birds in their environment with the help of an expert. Those who prefer to stay warm will not be disappointed! Whether it be the Holiday cultural program, the Night of Reading, or the family sockhop, everyone will have their share of fun, entertainment and culture as 2020 gets underway. Enjoy! Less Screen Time? Sure! but How?

Seven Days in Hell

NFB Movie – Because We Are Girls

Most professionals say that parents should reduce their children’s screen time, yet screen time among all age groups is actually increasing. Rather than talk about the importance of reducing screen time, Lorraine Couture, an early childhood specialist, will show you how to do it.

Renowned military historian David O’Keefe reveals the sub-culture of a fighting battalion in his book Seven Days in Hell. It is the end of the Normandy campaign. Three hundred soldiers from the Black Watch find themselves thrust into a nightmare, from which only a handful will walk away. Station, rank, race and religion matter little. Only character will win the day.

An Indo-Canadian family in British Columbia must come to terms with a secret: three sisters were sexually abused by an older relative beginning in their childhood. After remaining silent for decades, the sisters decide to come forward to protect others and set an example for their daughters. In honour of International Womens’ Day.
