Renew your MULTI Card Dear residents, I am pleased to invite you to browse through the Winter 2018 edition of Leisure Pointe-Claire. It contains information about all workshops, camps, and events during the season, information about where these activities will take place and how to register, and details on how to obtain or renew your MULTI Card. Introduced in the beginning of 2016, the MULTI Card allows you to register for a wide range of activities offered by the City at the Library, Aquatic Centre, Bob-Birnie Arena, and the Stewart Hall Cultural Centre. Your card can also be used as proof of residence to access some municipal services.
john belvedere mayor
You can also use your MULTI Card for free recreational swimming at the Aquatic Centre every Saturday and Sunday, and for free public skating at reserved times. If your MULTI Card will expire in the next three months, you can renew it at the Central Library, the Aquatic Centre, or City Hall. Your card will be renewed for two years. A prize will be drawn every month among residents who renewed their MULTI Cards to win a gift that all Pointe-Claire residents should find practical. City Council and I will continue to work for you and with you to maintain the quality of life, the services we offer, and the vitality of our City. Thank you for your trust, and I hope you enjoy all the activities we offer! John Belvedere Mayor

Voix de la jungle
Discover the songs and melodies of New France!

Presented by Jeunesses musicales du Canada as part of Music Week
Children dive into the world of the great composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In this story, the child prodigy, and his big sister, Maria Anna, find themselves home alone for one hour… and decide to have some fun. Excited by the freedom to run around and have fun without parental supervision, Wolfgang imagines various fantasy scenarios while his sister tries to bring him back down to earth. That’s when their good friend Anton shows up with a magnificent instrument that stimulates their imagination: the clarinet!
In this performance, tales from Africa and Martinique introduce us to all the animals in the jungle. Each animal is represented by a different instrument: djembe, balafon, tamboa and kalimba. Join them on this fantastic voyage where numerous jungle voices reveal their secrets!
Four artists transport you to Canada’s pioneer days through the songs and tunes that underscored family life in early New France. These are the songs and melodies of our ancestors, sung and played for their children and passed down through generations, to be shared as part of our special heritage. Philippe Gélinas, vocals, violin, zither, dulcimer, hurdy gurdy; Lise Roy, vocals, narration; Laurence Beaudry, vocals, violin, viola, mandolin; Chantal Simard, vocals, percussion stewart hall Sunday, March 4 3 p.m.

ART, MUSIC, AND LANGUAGES Preschool program
VIOLIN AND FLUTE PROGRAM
Learning Through Play
Suzuki Method
Preschool program focusing on culture Children make unforgettable discoveries by participating in art, music, drama, dance, and creative play workshops. They develop creativity, self-esteem, imagination, and motor skills.
Founded by Japanese musician and teacher Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, the Suzuki method is based on the mother tongue approach: music is learned the way language is learned. Neither language nor musical abilities are inherited, and the potential of every child is unlimited. The Suzuki method aims to create a stimulating environment that will awaken a child’s desire to play an instrument. A parent’s participation is vital to the development of the child’s natural talent. A parent is asked to attend class and supervise home practice. No musical background is necessary. With Catherine Merklinger, Sallynee Amawat, Alexandre Desjeunes and Sylvia Niedzwiecka Individual classes (also includes group classes)
