fternoon all,so on the back of Tuesday’s disappointment, it will be great to have back to back games and get back into some fluency today. The past 8 weeks has been so stop start its been very hard to get into any sort of rhythm. I didn’t think we necessarily played bad Tuesday, after not having a game for 2 weeks I thought we actually had quite a good first half and did well to go in 2-0 up. It was the second half where we failed to get hold of the game, our shape was bad, we weren’t winning second balls, they were on top and we weren’t cute or clever enough to realise what needed changing and paid the ultimate price. We gave them the second goal and that was unlike us! We have to do better. We cannot be dropping points like that at home! We’ve had meetings going into today to improve things ASAP, we have to bounce back with a win, have to! One thing I did notice Tuesday was how quiet Tatnam was, it’s not an excuse at all but it was the quietest its been in a long time and we desperate-

3

ly need more atmosphere! Not just to help us but to also not make Tatnam an easy place to come for other teams. We need it to be tough and even intimidating at times. We’re all in this together and all want the same goal come the end of the season, so please get behind the lads and get the volume up today. Up the Dolphins Whisk

very warm Tatnam welcome is extended this afternoon to the players officials and supporters of Histon FC who hopefully have had a much better journey to Dorset than we had to Cambridgeshire back in November. An accident on the motorway meant a journey that started at 2.00 that Tuesday afternoon did not finish until 7.20pm- what an ordeal! All credit to the players that seventeen minutes into the game, the release of their pent up frustration had produced an incredible five goal lead, the victory ending up being 7-0. Their will be no repeat of that scoreline today that’s for sure.Histon manager and Histon legend Steve Fallon has worked tirelessly with a talented group of young players and his efforts are producing real dividends.Last weekend for example they saw off Kettering at home by 3-1,no mean achievement and in their last but one away fixture secured a very satisfying 2-1 win against fierce local rivals Cambridge City. Our lads have been warned!! Last weekend saw a very strange phenomenon- a 3-0 defeat for the team. As Poole supporters we have been spoilt rotten over the last ten years or so with virtually relentless success and that type of game fortunately has been a rarity. We certainly weren’t three goals worse than Cirencester but we have to accept that we were not at our best, put it right and move on.I would suggest that that is exactly what the lads did at Redditch on Tuesday. That was an epic game!A real six pointer top of the table clash which Redditch would have desperately wanted to win to take over top

spot, particularly on the light of their likely points deduction looming for fielding two suspended players the other week. Our guys were having none of it!The return of Walks and Spetchy gave us added solidity and Redditch could not get past us.Tony Lee and Jack Dickson both came close to giving us the win that we would not have been flattered by but on the end the 0-0 draw was a very satisfying outcome to keep us firmly at the top of the pile. These notes had to be penned before Wednesday’s Fans meeting in the Clubhouse. Thanks to all those who were there and I hope that everyone found it a useful session. If we do achieve our aim of National League football then we are going to have to raise our game off the field every bit as much as on it and you the supporters have a big part to play in that. Next Saturday we have another long difficult away trip to Leamington whilst our next home fixture is a fortnight today when we take on Bedworth here with the usual 3.00pm ko. Finally--- enjoy the game and don’t forget the 50:50 tickets. Chris

oole were looking to return to winning ways after they fell to a surprise 3-0 defeat at the hands of Cirencester – but they faced possibly their toughest challenge of the season as they made the trip up to Redditch United, a fellow title chaser. What followed was a highly defensively affair that ended in a goalless draw, played out in front of a bumper 501 crowd. There were a few changes from the side that lost on Saturday – Michael Walker returning to centre-half, as

7

well as fellow absentee Will Spetch, who played at a slightly unfamiliar left wing position. The game took a while to get going – Lewis Lindsay shaking off a few defenders to set up Tony Lee, who almost grabbed his first Poole goal as he saw his effort from outside the box smack the post. Poole were almost caught asleep as Robert Thompson-Brown was just offside after George Carline played a defence-splitting pass. With the offside flag up, Poole remained the only

LAST TIME OUT side in the contest to have a shot on goal, a grand total of one. But that would change, as Redditch had small claims for a penalty, but their first proper chance of the game came after Poole lost possession in their own half – allowing James Shearer to fire a shot just wide of Hutching’s post. The hosts would also threaten next – Will Richards flashing a corner over just before half time. But the second half that followed also lacked significant action – with neither side really wanting to risk it all and grab a potential winner. In a game that saw a grand total of 6 shots, Redditch had the majority, with four in total - the most dangerous when Thompson-Brown’s cross-cumshot smacked the same post that Lee had earlier on. Redditch had another penalty claim when Shearer fell down in the box, but he

was adjudged to have fallen down too easily for the referee. The most dangerous chance came almost down to luck – Jack Dickson saw his shot almost bobble over Jose Veiga in the Redditch goal, but the keeper managed to tip it round his post. Poole then had to sustain pressure as Redditch pushed for a winner that would see them just top the league on goal difference, but fortunately for the Dolphins, it never came. Even better news for both players is that Merthyr managed to overcome Chippenham 2-0, meaning Poole edge a point ahead in a tight title fight. Poole next entertain Histon at home, who they thrashed 7-0 up at the Glassword stadium.

fternoon all, It’s nice to be back at Tatnam after 2 tough away games. 1 of them away at Cirencester we lost 3-0 and I’m just going to put it down to a freak day, yes we were bad, we didn’t take any of our probably 10 chances, we defended awfully and we’re moving straight on from it, it was unlike us and it won’t be happening again. After that we had to come back fighting away at our title rivals Redditch, they have been in great form and we did fantastically to go there and get a point in a 0-0 draw, we defended brilliant from the front and limited them to very little in front of goal. We had the 2 best chances of the game and their keeper pulled off a great save from a JD effort. All in all on a long trip to Birmingham on a tues night

we will take the point and fingers crossed go flying into today. We need the 3 points, we have a few injuries at the moment but with Tony Lee and Ashan Holgate coming in, they have strengthened the squad at the perfect time. Get behind the lads today in what would be a Massive 3 points. Up the Dolphins Whisk

COMMERCIAL MATTERS Our last hime game against Hitchin resulted in a great and hopefully significant 1-0 home win. Since then we had the disappointing defeat at Cirencester followed by the draw at Redditch which favoured us more than them. Today we take on Histon with a chance to stretch our lead at the top. Come on you Dolphins. I would like to thank Funky Peach for Sponsoring the Hitchin game and Mike Christopher who sponsored the Ball. Between them, they chose Lewis Tallack as their Man of the Match. I would also like to thank Samantha Bumford who was mascot on the night. For today’s game, we have Funky Peach back again as Match Sponsor and the Ball is Sponsored by Mike Christopher. Let’s hope you all have a great afternoon and hopefully the right result. We are now sold out for Match and Ball Sponsors for the remainder of this season and I would like to thank all those companies and individuals that have supported us over this season. We now only have one member of staff left to sponsor – Kit Man, Paul Ayley. If you would like to sponsor Paul, it’s just £85. Many thanks the Marilyn and Michael Gower who have this season sponsored Jamie Whisken and Luke Burbidge. We also have just three Mascot (£40) places still available this

season. Please check the website for availability and get in contact. If you have never tried Tatnam Trebble, I promise you it will be the most tasty Cheddar you have ever had. Seek out Martin Smith on the Cheese table at home Saturday games. Try one of his Pork pies as well, you will not be disappointed. The club turned 125 years old on 20th Sept and to mark the occasion we are looking to form a new Vice-Presidents Board. Cost is £5,000 and in return you will receive free entry to Tatnam for 3 years, with boardroom hospitality, for two people plus seats at the Sportsmans Dinner and End of Season Presentation Dinner, as well as the chance to shape the future of the club. Interested parties are to contact any member of the board. I would like to thank all of you who are using http://pooletownfootballclub. easysearch.org.uk/ as your search engine. We earn ½p per search and that amounts to a couple of pounds per week. That combined with http://www. easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/pooletownfootballclub/ we have now raised over £1,000 for the club. Thanks to all those that support these initiatives. We will have the usual Spring Lunch, at Patricks Restaurant on Friday April 1st, details to be released shortly. Have you heard about Last Man
