CAPTAIN'S NOTES Jamie Whisken Club Captain

Afternoon all, so on the back of Tuesday’s disappointment (v Biggleswade), it will be great to be back on the pitch and get back into some fluency today. The past 8 weeks has been so stop start its been very hard to get into any sort of rhythm. I didn’t think we necessarily played bad Tuesday, after not having a game for two weeks I thought we actually had quite a good first half and did well to go in 2-0 up. It was the second half where we failed to get hold of the game, our shape was bad, we weren’t winning second balls, they were on top and we weren’t cute or clever enough to realise what needed changing and paid the ultimate price. We gave them the second goal and that was unlike us! We have to do better. We cannot be dropping points like that at home! We’ve had meetings going into today to improve things ASAP, we have to bounce back with a win, have to! One thing I did notice Tuesday was how quiet Tatnam was, it’s not an excuse at all but it was the quietest its been in a long time and we desperate-

2

ly need more atmosphere! Not just to help us but to also not make Tatnam an easy place to come for other teams. We need it to be tough and even intimidating at times. We’re all in this together and all want the same goal come the end of the season, so please get behind the lads and get the volume up today. Up the Dolphins Whisk

BOARDROOM NOTES Chris Reeves Vice Chairman

I

will spare you all the expression of the all too familiar feelings of frustration brought about by yet another wretched postponement of Saturday’s game v Bideford.Football is never straightforward as we all know but the lads were just desperate to get back onto the pitch and take out their own frustration at having surrendered a two goal lead this time last week on the visitors. The positives psychologically apart from anything else of securing those three points(had we done so of course)cannot be underestimated, particularly with tonight’s crunch blockbusting top of the table clash with Hitchin in mind. The players officials and supporters of Hitchin Town are very welcome to Tatnam and hopefully they had a good journey here and have a safe trip home.Hitchin together with Redditch are genuine title contenders and the outcome of our clashes with these two will be fundamental to determining whether we do achieve our goal of winning this League championship. After tonight we travel to Cirencester this coming Saturday with a trip away to Redditch a week tonight, our next league fixture here being Saturday 5th March against Histon. Another big date to keep in your minds is 7.30 Wednesday 2nd

March when in our Clubhouse here we are holding a meeting completely open to all supporters. That will be hopefully a stimulating evening with good quality debate about all things Poole Town.Do try and be there and do spread the word to others. Two new players to welcome to the fold tonight- Ashan Holgate, previously with Chippenham but only recently recovered from injury will be bursting at the seams to show us what he can do.Tony Lee too will be anxious for pitch time having joined us on a month’s loan from Eastleigh. Tony is a young exciting front runner. Both p,ayes will improve the squad and are very welcome to Tatnam. Finally my usual exhortation to enjoy the game and not to forget the 50:50 tickets. Chris

COMMERCIAL MATTERS I was not at the Biggleswade game on Tuesday night, but followed progress in a Sportsbar in Norway, enjoying a 2-0 lead at halftime and then sharing the frustration as we were pegged back to 2-2. We were all equally frustrated on Saturday when yet another game was called off. Hopefully, tonight we take on high flying and in form Hitchin and hope to get back to winning ways. Come on you Dolphins. I would like to thank Portman Stone for Sponsoring last Tuesdays match and East Dorset Guide Dogs who sponsored the Ball. Between them, they chose Luke Roberts as their Man of the Match. Unfortunately we did not get a photo as the players had a long heart-to-heart after the game. I would also like to thank Ethan Cann who was mascot on the night and got to lead the teams out with his favorite player, NickHutchins. I would like to thank everybody that gave generously in the bucket collection formthe Guide Dogs. For tonight’s game, we have Funky Peach back again as Match Sponsor, the Ball is Sponsored by Mike Christopher and tonight’s Mascot is Samantha Bumford. Let’s hope you all have a great evening and hopefully the right result. We are now sold out for Match and Ball Sponsors for the remainder of this season and I would like to thank all those companies and individuals that have supported us over this season. We now only have one member of staff left to sponsor – Kit Man, Paul Ayley. If you would like

10

to sponsor Paul, it’s just £85. We also have just two Mascot (£40) places still available this season, including the next home game v Histon on the 5th March. Please get in contact if you are interested. If you have never tried Tatnam Trebble, I promise you it will be the most tasty Cheddar you have ever had. Seek out Martin Smith on the Cheese table at home games. Try one of his Pork pies as well, you will not be disappointed. The club turned 125 years old on 20th Sept and to mark the occasion we are looking to form a new Vice-Presidents Board. Cost is £5,000 and in return you will receive free entry to Tatnam for 3 years, with boardroom hospitality, for two people plus seats at the Sportsmans Dinner and End of Season Presentation Dinner, as well as the chance to shape the future of the club. Interested parties are to contact any member of the board. I would like to thank all of you who are using http://pooletownfootballclub.easysearch.org. uk/ as your search engine. We earn ½p per search and that amounts to a couple of pounds per week. That combined with http://www. easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/pooletownfootballclub/ we have now raised over £1,000 for the club. Thanks to all those that support these initiatives. We will have the usual Spring Lunch, at Patricks Restaurant on Friday April 1st, details to be released shortly. Have you heard about Last Man Standing? Just £10 to enter, pick a premier League side to win, get it right and stay in. It’s as simple as that. See Pippa for details.
