The last time I was writing Rolling Start we had recently experienced the beginning of COVID-19 and anticipated great delays with our new Porsche models arriving very late due to the 2 month PAG shutdown and general slowdown. We were very surprised in July to actually see business ramp up substantially for the whole of the third quarter; the general consensus being our inability to travel overseas. Here I am in October already working on edition 23 of our W Magazine, due out early next year and anticipating a very strong final quarter for 2020. We are so very lucky to live and work in NSW with this German marque and I feel privileged to be able to interact with our staff and clients. At time of writing, the new 911 Turbo S, a GTS (4.0 litre naturally aspirated) version of the 718 Boxster and Cayman and the Cayenne GTS Wagon and Coupe with a V8 engine and the “right“ sound have just been released. The worldwide impact of COVID for Porsche versus targets has been a minus 53% in the UK, 32% in North America and 33% in Germany, whilst Australia was only Minus 3%! The latest numbers of new Porsche global sales as of August is China 39,189, USA 24,186, Germany 8,556, the UK at 6th with 3,960 and Australia at 13th with 2,227 deliveries. Our local V-Facts for the car industry here were running at minus 34% for passenger vehicles and minus 13% for SUV’s. The year-end figures in January will be interesting. This edition highlights our new 911 Turbo and Turbo S, of course the Taycan (so much to say) and a wonderful story on a client’s 911 Turbo S (993 series). We have a section on the Cayenne GTS, the Bull Rush Track Day and an introduction to our Sales Consultant Robert Chan. Some coverage of our overnight stay in Orange after a spirited drive from Sydney and a new restaurant in the Hunter we experienced after the normal Putty Road adventure. The weather on both of our drives was spectacular. I would also like to introduce you to Joseph Bacha and his wife Evelyn, who look after all our detailing requirements, whether for new or pre-owned vehicles. I have personally known Joseph for over 30 years and consider him to be an outstanding, talented and hard-working person who is committed to giving 150% to each and every project. Whilst I am introducing new people,

I must inform you that we have both a new Service Manager and a Parts Manager here at PCW. Justin Jean-Baptiste earned his stripes with BMW, starting as an apprentice in England and subsequently arriving in Australia as a Master Technician. After 30 plus years in the industry culminating in the position of After Sales Manager for BMW, he now joins us as Service Manager at PCW. Our Parts Manager is Martin Schacht, also with 30 years experience in the industry, recently head hunted from Suttons where he had just been awarded Parts Manager of the year. We have been talking about the Taycan for a long time now and finally after a small delay, the Taycan 4S, Taycan Turbo and Taycan Turbo S will be released on 27th February 2021 in Australia. You will enjoy reading about it in this edition, the first personal showing of the Taycan was very successful here in Sydney. The “expression of interest“ holders were very happy and many converted their interest to firm orders. Personally, I just enjoyed building these magnificent models with amazing new colours and options! Maybe I did get carried away? Many of our readers will have met Natalie Doldo, our Marketing and Events Manager. She is now managing slightly different events and we are proud to announce the birth of baby Joseph as her future co driver for many years to come. Her husband Anthony will no doubt be looking after her and their new addition; our congratulations to the new parents. While Natalie is on Maternity Leave, Bonita Jones will be covering her role, as well as her own (Sales Finance Manager). For any enquiries on future drive days please liaise with Bonita. As you know, our regular Ice-force Experience in Finland is a huge success, in January 2020 we took 20 clients with us again, see Stewart’s story in the last W Magazine. Unfortunately, for 2021 even though as I write this, the Ice-force Event is still scheduled, we have had to cancel the Australian contingency. This being said, we are now planning to double our number of attendees to 40 for 2022. We have an exciting programme being prepared which will incorporate a visit to Stuttgart prior or after the main 4 nights in Finland. We are taking expressions of interest at the moment, please contact either Bonita or myself.

Porsche customer team Dempsey-Proton Racing on the podium at Le Mans
Le Mans 2020
The Porsche 911 RSR shared by works driver Matt Campbell, Riccardo Pera and Proton team owner Christian Ried concluded the race in second place in the GTE-Am class.
T
The Porsche GT Team, however, endured a great deal of bad luck with the two latest-generation 911 RSR at the endurance classic in the northwest of France. After just five hours of racing, the reigning world champions Michael Christensen from Denmark and Frenchman KÊvin Estre, who received support from Belgium’s Laurens Vanthoor at Le Mans, were thrown more than ten laps behind due to a power steering fault. More repair work over the following hours widened the gap in the GTE-Pro field to 15 laps. The vehicle ultimately crossed the finish line in sixth place in its class. The competition in the GTE-Am class provided gripping race action to the flag. After a final safety car phase, the field went green again with 24 minutes remaining on the clock.

“Our first outing with the Porsche 911 RSR-19 at Le Mans was anything but easy. We’ve learned a lot. After achieving pole position, we’d expected more from the race – but we were disappointed. We’ll combine our experiences, draw our conclusions, and return stronger next year. Congratulations to our customer teams Dempsey-Proton Racing, Project 1 and Gulf Racing, who finished in the top five zof the GTE-Am class.”
Three vehicles from two manufacturers fought for two podium spots. Factory driver Matt Campbell kept his cool at the wheel of Dempsey-Proton Racing’s No. 77 car. After impressive duels and slipstream battles, the young Australian came out on top, bringing the 2019-spec 911 RSR over the finish line in second place. Matteo Cairoli, however, narrowly missed out on claiming a podium step. After a close duel with a Ferrari, the Italian took the flag in fourth place. The No. 56 car of Project 1, which Cairoli shared with last year’s winner Egidio Perfetti from Norway and Larry ten Voorde from the Netherlands, had even led the GTE-Am field over long stretches. However, a one-minute penalty threw the crew behind.

Q1. What charging infrastructure is being implemented in Porsche Centres ahead of the introduction of Taycan?
the Head of Product & Smart
Our dealer network is investing in charging infrastructure at their Porsche Centres, to provide AC (up to 22kW) and/or DC (up to 320kW) charging stations to support the introduction of the Taycan. The AC stations will also support our existing range of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.

The initial feedback has been extremely positive. Many have mentioned that they are pleased to see that the Taycan has stayed true to the Mission-E concept. We have also received positive feedback regarding the technology and local specification available for the Taycan in Australia. The overall feedback is that people like the Taycan because it is an innovative electric vehicle, but also a true Porsche sportscar, all in one.
world ownership of Porsche shockingly good e-hero.
Q3. Tell us about the charging stations around Australia. What are Porsche’s plans for fast charging stations to keep the Taycan owners moving on long journeys? The number of charging stations across Australia is constantly growing, both within metro areas and along interstate highways. Charging infrastructure available to Taycan owners comes under four banners: At-Home charging, Porsche Centre chargers, Porsche Destination charging sites in both metro and regional areas, and access to the Chargefox network of chargers. Porsche has partnered with Chargefox, to offer a complimentary three-year subscription for Taycan drivers, to access that everexpanding network. Porsche Destination charging sites are located at premium destinations, such as five star hotels, wineries, restaurants and golf clubs, and feature 11kW AC chargers with complimentary access for Porsche drivers. Q4. Tell us about any data on the customer base interested in the Taycan, is it a new segment being filled by ‘new to Porsche’ customers or is it past Porsche owners moving with the brand? We are seeing a mix of both existing Porsche owners and new customers to Porsche ordering Taycan. It is great to see that longtime Porsche sportscar owners are excited to own and drive our first all-electric sportscar, and it is equally exciting to bring new people to the brand.

The two-speed transmission installed on the rear axle of the Taycan was developed entirely in-house and has been adapted to the specific requirements of the Taycan. It contributes significantly to a very high starting performance while also delivering maximum top speed. Q5. How will the Technology in the Taycan affect other Porsche models in the line up?
Q7. Tell us about how and if the Australian Spec cars will differ from the USA and UK models.
Following the purpose design approach, the Taycan was conceived as a purely electric sports car right from the beginning. The Porsche engineers took advantage of the resulting degree of freedom to get as much out of the vehicle concept as technologically possible. The innovative 800-volt system architecture and the free-standing 16.8 inch curved display are just two examples of new, innovative technology features.
Here in Australia, all our customers have very high expectations for their vehicles to be extremely well equipped. The Taycan, like the rest of the Porsche range, does not disappoint. We have paid very close attention to market expectations and the needs of our customers to the point where we have one of the best-equipped cars in the world. Key driver assistance features such as the Adaptive Cruise Control and Surround View function are standard for our market. This also applies to comfort features like the four-zone climate control. Our Australian-spec Taycan models will come with one of the most comprehensive charging and e-mobility packages.
This is the usual Porsche way and we continuously see innovative technology advancements in the remaining Porsche model line-up as well. Q6. Many love to personalise their Porsche cars. Do you see the Porsche Exclusive options playing a large part in the personalisation of the Taycan over other models in the range?
Q8. Tell our readers something about the Taycan they don’t know. The two-speed transmission installed on the rear axle of the Taycan was developed entirely in-house and has been adapted to the specific requirements of the Taycan. It contributes significantly to a very high starting performance while also delivering maximum top speed. First gear is not required in Range mode, which is designed for maximum efficiency, as the high starting torque is also sufficient for starting in second gear. Even in the comfort-orientated Normal mode, second gear is preferred. In the dynamic Sport and Sport Plus modes, on the other hand, first gear is used more frequently, especially when setting off and accelerating. Launch Control is also available in these modes. The transmission remains in first gear for a relatively long time, then, coupled with shift overdrive, shifts into second gear.
The Taycan will come with a multitude of aesthetic and functional upgrades similar to its Porsche stablemates. There will undoubtedly be a wide range of personalisation options and configuration combinations on offer for even the most astute of buyers. I am very confident that there is a Taycan for everyone.

The testers from Auto Bild were impressed. In around 22 minutes, they were able to charge the almost empty battery of a Porsche Taycan to 80 percent. A record that is almost obligatory in this segment because sporty drivers are not the types to wait for a charge. “For Porsche in particular, high charging performance plays a major role,” says Dr. Stefanie Edelberg, Engineer at Porsche Engineering. “Sporty driving drains the battery faster, and the customer doesn't want to have to wait an hour to fully recharge it.”

Drivers no longer have to. “Battery technology for cars works well in practice, including in terms of perfor-mance, charging and service life,” says Dirk Uwe Sauer, Professor of Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage System Technology at RWTH Aachen University.
y
CELL
“However, several extreme properties cannot be combined. You can't have everything at once.” Ultra-fast charging combined with a high energy density? That's not possible because the service life would suffer from this combination. Sauer is therefore skeptical about media reports about supposed miracle batteries, because usually a single parameter is optimized at the expense of others. “There will be no universal all-rounder battery,” he says.
Modern vehicle batteries already enable long ranges and convenient charging times. Nevertheless, researchers are working on even
Lithium-ion cells: high energy density
better energy storage systems. Porsche Engineering explores the current state of the proven lithiumion technology as well as new approaches.
Energy storage systems for electric vehicles are getting better all the time, but lithium-ion cells will remain the technology of choice for the foreseeable future. This is because the high reactivity of lithium and the high energy density of the cells make it possible to store a relatively large amount of energy in a small space. They also boast good storability and robustness, which enables them to withstand around 2,000 charging cycles in an all-electric vehicle at a high depth of discharge before losing their utility. However, developers believe that they could last several times as long. Furthermore, lithium batteries do not have the memory effect that nickel-cadmium batteries suffer from. In the case of frequent partial discharges, they “remember” the typical energy requirement and adjust their capacity to it. In addition, lithium-ion technology still offers a wealth of development opportunities in terms of cell chemistry and cell design. Energy density, for example, could benefit from this: according to researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI), energy density has almost doubled over the past ten years in large-format lithium-ion battery cells for electric cars – to an average specific energy of 250 Wh/kg (or 500 Wh/l energy density). By 2030, energy density could increase by a factor of two. Other properties of lithium-ion cells can also be further improved. “The biggest challenges are fast charging and safety,” reports Prof. Dr. Stefano Passerini, Director of the Battery Electrochemistry Research Group at the Helmholtz Institute Ulm. “A quick charge to 80 percent in 15 minutes or less would make electric vehicles even more attractive. However, the safety requirements also rise in conjunction with rapid charging.”
12
P O R S C H E W I L L O U G H B Y. C O M . A U
Other technological hurdles also await the developers: The charging plugs, charging cables, and the vehicle infrastructure must also be designed for the high currents. The motto here is “amperes are heavy.” In other words: high currents mean thick cables and therefore weight. However, this can be compensated through a higher-voltage battery system. That's why the Porsche Taycan was equipped with a high-voltage battery system of 800 volts instead of the 400 volts common in electric cars. In order to compare the charging times of electric vehicles with different battery capacities, the C-rate (C stands for “capacity”) is a useful metric. It indicates the ratio of the charge or discharge current of an electrochemical cell in amperes (A) to the capacity of the cell in ampere-hours (Ah). A value of 1 means that complete recharging takes one hour. 2 stands for half an hour, 3 for 20 minutes. The developers are aiming for a C rate of 10, which means about six minutes of charging time—similar to refueling. We are still a long way from that today. But in the FastCharge research project, Siemens, Phoenix Contact E-Mobility, and Porsche, among others, are working on improving the energy supply system for electric vehicles. The industrial consortium has already made great progress. A Porsche research vehicle with a battery capacity of around 90 kWh achieved a charging power of 400 kW, enabling charging times of less than three minutes for the first 100 kilometers of range. A complete charging process from 10 to 80 percent at the ultra-fast charging station took 15 minutes. C rates of 4 to 5 are therefore feasible. “The decisive factor was an innovative cooling system for the battery, the vehicle and the charging system,” Edelberg explains. The solid state battery is expected to bring progress in terms of fast charging and safety. In this case, a polymer or ceramic is used instead of the liquid electrolyte. Since no liquid is used, the batteries become more compact, which allows their energy density to be increased significantly. At the same time, the cells are less flammable. “We expect solid-state lithium-ion batteries to reduce safety problems because solid-state electrolytes are less susceptible to fire,” says Passerini. Theoretically, it could also be charged faster. “But the practical feasibility has yet to be proven,” Passerini concludes.
Lightweight alternative: lithium sulfur However, lithium will remain the basis – as well as with another variant, which is currently being intensively studied: lithiumsulfur batteries. In these cells, the cathode consists of a sulfur mesh that completely replaces the conventional grid structure of cobalt, manganese, and nickel. This makes the batteries significantly lighter than conventional energy storage devices. But at the moment they are also significantly more expensive, which is why they may be more suitable as an option for future air taxis. Their durability is still considered problematic. Other technologies for increasing energy density that are currently being researched and could be launched now or in the years to come include electrode materials made of silicon-carbon composites, nickel-rich cathode materials, or high-voltage materials that enable cell voltages of around five volts. “Research in these areas is already closer to practical application,” says Sauer. Many other approaches, he noted however, were still in the field of basic research, such as sodium ions instead of lithium ions or metal-oxygen combinations. Sauer sees one decisive question for all development avenues: costs. “In the end, the range of a vehicle is not limited by the weight of a battery, but by its price.” According to the consultants at Horváth & Partners, the price of lithium-ion batteries per kWh has fallen from 400 euros in 2013 to 107 euros in 2019, but the price decline will not continue at this pace due to increasing demand. This is mainly due to the raw materials: “Raw materials account for up to 75 percent of the cost of a battery,” says Sauer. One thing is clear: in the next decade, lithium-ion batteries, with all their further enhancements, will remain the dominant technology. “Progress will be evolutionary, not revolutionary,” says Sauer. “I do not expect any great leaps forward as the limits of the laws of nature are already being probed as we speak.” Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing: “The characteristics of this technology are too good to be replaced by anything else. Electromobility is already working very well with what batteries can deliver today and the potential for further development in the coming years,” emphasizes Sauer.

FIRST LOOK - TAYCAN. SOUL, ELECTRI ED. all-electric Porsche. With an innovative drive, but with the same soul as in the over 70 years before.
Porsche has reinvented itself again and again for over 70 years. Given goosebumps and increased heart rates. With exciting design, motorsport technology for the road and fascinating sports cars. And one special component that cannot be grasped and is hard to describe. The soul.
Black curtains dropped and rows of vertical light poles sparked to life, surrounding a Taycan 4S and Turbo S, the impressive exterior design that customers have pored over online, was suddenly revealed and did not disappoint.
Ferry Porsche was one of the first to realise that this is exactly what counts. He once said:
Kenneth Au said these words about the event:
“In the beginning, I looked around and could not find quite the car I dreamed of. So I decided to build it myself.” His contemporaries immediately recognised that the first series model was not only powered by petrol – but above all by passion. Porsche had managed to give the legendary Porsche 356 a soul. Since then, this has been the focus when developing every new model. You may ask yourself: can objects really have a soul? Strictly speaking, of course not. But sometimes our gut goes against our mind. Fortunately. Because this is the only way we have managed to give electricity an exciting task again. With an electric vehicle that not only takes you from A to B – but also supplies the journey to your destination with extraordinary driving pleasure. The way to the future.
"I can’t say enough about how great and fun of an experience it was. I appreciate all their efforts in light of COVID to find ways to still make it interesting, fun and special. Again, thanks to the team for making this all happen, and of course, special thanks to Stuart and Robbie for their help during the entire process of selecting, buying the Taycan and being patient with my frequent texts and questions. The Taycan looks and feels every bit a Porsche. In some ways, it is something of an epiphany. It’s a car without a predecessor, a first of its kind for Porsche. Looking forward to picking it up."
The future was on display at the Rushcutters Bay venue where interested parties and excited clients experienced the first glimpse of Porsche electrified. For all those who want to experience uncompromising performance, impressive acceleration, maximum driving pleasure and unforgettable adrenaline rushes in a completely new way, the wait is over: the new Taycan is here – the first

Now that the Taycan is so very close to delivery, let's take it back to the beginning of the brand and the founder. As early as 1898, Ferdinand Porsche played a major role in the design of the Egger-Lohner C.2 Phaeton electric car – and in 1899 he won the prize race at the international motor vehicle exhibition in Berlin. The first "race victory“ for a Porsche, so to speak. Just one year later, he developed the Semper Vivus, the first hybrid vehicle. This is one of the reasons why the change to electromobility is such an exciting and logical step for us. We are convinced that the new Porsche Taycan will inspire everyone – from long-standing Porsche drivers to the youngest Porsche fans. Why? Because the performance of the new Porsche Taycan impresses on the road and at the charging pedestal. The short countdown or charging bar in the dealership will give you a hint to this – and you can of course recharge your own batteries in our Carrera cafe and chill-out lounge. The Taycan only takes a few minutes to recharge the energy for up to 100 more kilometres. Even with a half-full battery, it reproduces full power over and over again: for repeated accelerations and journeys at constant high speed. The Taycan is not a car that needs babying. The overall concept of the new Porsche Taycan also captivates with its intelligent charging infrastructure, pioneering connectivity and modern technology – and with pure emotions, extraordinary dynamics and an outstanding driving experience. Only a real sports car can do that. As our attendees experienced, our claim, our philosophy and our priorities at Porsche Willoughby will never change. The Porsche DNA lives on, unchanged, in the new Taycan – and simultaneously changes the world of electromobility. Forever. Look forward to a big performance. A car that is greater than the sum of its parts. A car that arouses emotions. Here comes the first electric sports car with the soul of Porsche – the new Porsche Taycan.

This is simply our way. Never thinking: giving it our all. Never giving up. Always getting that little bit more out of our performance. Without accepting any limitations. Without restraint. Relentless. The fully automatic fabric hood of the 911 Turbo S Cabriolet has a fixed rear screen made of glass and three integral supporting magnesium elements, making it extremely robust and yet incredibly lightweight. It opens or closes in around 12 seconds – up to a speed of 50km/h. And can be operated by remote control, if you like. The roof lining is made from a heat-insulating and sound absorbing material, resulting in perceptibly consistent interior temperatures and an effective suppression of wind noise. If that’s what you want. An electric wind deflector offers draught-free driving with the top down. Again with minimum wind noise. At the touch of a button, it can be extended or retracted in just two seconds.
Making distinctive design language even more extraordinary? A huge task. Yet one that is way too attractive to go unchallenged. Relentless. With infinite passion. To provide clarity and consistency at first glance.

Simply sit back and enjoy the ride? Yes, but only to get ahead. Are uncompromising athleticism and excellent comfort mutually exclusive? Not in the new 911 Turbo S: hardly anywhere else will you enjoy such a thoroughly dynamic driving experience. The new adaptive Sports seats Plus with 18-way electric adjustment are finished in smooth-finish leather, with their firm, sporty padding providing outstanding lateral support. Turbo typical: the headrests with embossed ‘turbo S’ logo. The quilted seat centres and quilted door panels are reminiscent of the first 911 models. A new ionisation function is available as an option – for improved air quality. The ioniser reduces airborne spores and other bacteria and improves the quality of the air inside the vehicle, which can noticeably enhance your sense of well-being. Porsche Communication Management (PCM) is your central control centre for audio, navigation and communication as well as for a variety of assistance systems. Most vehicle functions can be easily and conveniently controlled via the high-resolution 10.9-inch touchscreen display.
The new 911 Turbo S is fitted with 20/21-inch 911 Turbo S forged alloy wheels. These have a two-tone finish (black) and are equipped with motorsport-proven central locking.

I
It was 1990 and I was in my late twenties when the striking contemporary architecture of the Scuderia Veloce Motors showroom at Willoughby was taking shape. With an abiding interest in architecture and building I just thought that this was the most beautiful showroom I had ever seen. To see them then fill it with some of the world’s best sports and supercars – well, I was so inspired I felt I could hardly breathe when I peered through the window or drove past. I saw the changing of the Porsche engine-cooling guard go from air to water. Yet before that step change happened Porsche had something special to reveal; the outgoing 993 generation had an ace in the hole - the 911 993 Turbo S, the absolute pinnacle of Porsche’s air-cooled era. Constructed with exceptional attention to detail, truly an enormous step up in performance, looks, exclusivity, and price over the standard 911 Turbo. Anything on the other side of the Porsche Centre Willoughby (PCW) glass walls was just a dream, let alone a Turbo S, one of the rarest and most collectible 911s ever made. Built solely by Porsche’s Exclusive Department the Turbo S was priced 50% higher than the 993 Turbo when new and worldwide production totalled just 345 cars. 26 were produced in RHD and only 15 cars reached Australian shores. Fast forward twenty years and things have changed; the showroom has been remodeled, the bank manager is speaking to me, and I was on the lookout for a dream Porsche. The desire for this moment had been building my whole life. In my earliest memories, I just loved anything mechanical, from helpfully fixing the family vacuum cleaner when it wasn’t really broken, to pulling apart my Dad’s lawnmower to inspect a weird vibration,
27
to doing something real (restoring an abandoned 1960 VW) and having it ready for when I could finally sit my Driver’s Licence test. I know how lucky I am to finally own a classic Porsche, but I do reassure people that I understand passion for cars comes in many marques and it doesn’t have to be a Porsche, and that I probably loved that early Beetle just as much. How I came to own the 993 Turbo S was probably a combination of taking good advice from experts and luck. Although I did purchase the car privately and not from PCW, I had been visiting their showroom and speaking with their very knowledgeable staff. This experience, combined with talking with Ray Fowler (President of the Porsche Club of NSW) meant that I eventually settled in the direction of an early air-cooled 993 Turbo S. I will always remember experiencing and appreciating the style, engineering, power and performance for the first time as something quite moving. I bought the car after a long courting period in 2007 when it had traveled just 27,000kms. I wanted to enjoy every aspect of owning the car from washing, cleaning, leather care, and storing it, to the annual maintenance and service. I immediately set about understanding how I could maintain and service the car to the highest standard; I knew exactly where to take my Turbo S and quickly trusted its

maintenance to the welcoming environment of PCW, where their expert technicians gained my full confidence. I really appreciated that it is just as important to them that I enjoy the full experience of the interaction and dialogue. Still to this day, every time I go to collect the car, they apologize as they have a real difficulty in handing back a car that could possibly have a microscopic oil smear - but I just cannot bring myself to let them wash it, as I really love doing that myself. This incredibly rare car is easily identifiable by its numerous unique features throughout. The front fog lights were removed and replaced with air ducts to aid front brake cooling, the exhaust system was replaced with a modified unit that has quadruple rear tips, the flared rear fenders sprouted large air inlets, and the rear deck featured an impressive “Aerokit II biplane spoiler to increase downforce. Where the standard 993 generation Turbo had 300 kW / 402 PS from a 3.6-liter biturbo flat six, the Turbo S featured larger turbos and engine software tweaks to push the output to 336 kW / 450 PS. Unlike some other special-edition models, Porsche did not sacrifice creature comforts and usability for track performance with the 993 911 Turbo S. Inside was a luxurious full leather interior with generous amounts of carbon fibre trim on the lower portion of the dashboard, around the gauges, along the doorsills, and on the centre console, door panels, and door pulls. It even has an electric sunroof. The Turbo S delivers stunning performance in a package as luxurious and exclusive as Porsches come, making it one of the most thrilling air-cooled Porsches to drive and enjoy. At launch it really was the ultimate supercar that could be used as a daily commuter. It is valued today for its rarity, performance, timeless styling, and that it is the last iteration of the air-cooled 911 Turbo.

We have fitted the Cayenne models with even more Porsche. For longer lasting goosebumps. More butterflies in your stomach. And greater amazement. Because ‘enough’ is far too little. More of what you love. The new Porsche Cayenne GTS models.

The new Cayenne GTS models offer even more opportunities to fully dedicate yourself to the moment. To enjoy driving pleasure in its purest form. And to let the desired route be the destination at the same time. In the background, environmental data are continuously recorded and the chassis systems are synchronised with each other in real time. In addition, the new Cayenne GTS models follow the steering movements more precisely than ever before – while the sporty 8-speed Tiptronic S transforms the output of the powerful V8 engine into enduring propulsion. So that the passion for sports cars is always exactly where it belongs – in first place. In addition to the analogue stopwatch on the dashboard, the Sport Chrono Package on the Cayenne models includes a mode switch on the multifunction sports steering wheel. Its four modes prime the engine and transmission for maximum responsiveness: Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. In addition, the Sport Response button trims the entire drivetrain to maximum acceleration for 20 seconds. The information on longitudinal and lateral acceleration can be found in the display in the instrument cluster, along with a performance display for lap times in Porsche Communication Management (PCM).

The extent of your Cayenne model’s athleticism is totally up to you – all that matters is that the 8-speed Tiptronic S keeps up with you. In addition, the consumption is lowered and the comfort is increased. Speaking of consumption, to save fuel the so-called coasting function is possible in certain situations. The engine is simply decoupled for even more efficiency. Porsche 4D Chassis Control adds a new dimension to suspension control on the Cayenne GTS. It analyses the current driving situation based on longitudinal, lateral and vertical acceleration. It calculates the best driving conditions and synchronises all the chassis systems in real time: the fourth dimension. For an optimised overall performance partnered with PTV Plus, a system intended to improve driving dynamics and stability, especially for lateral acceleration. Depending on the steering angle and steering speed, the accelerator pedal position plus the yaw rate and speed, PTV Plus improves the steering behaviour and precision. It works by precisely applying brake pressure to the inside rear wheel and an electronically regulated rear differential lock. This generates optimum vehicle traction when The new Cayenne GTS models offer even more opportunities accelerating out of curves.

Whether you are selecting your Porsche for business or personal use, you can choose the contract term that best suits your requirements. At the end of your Porsche GFV contract, you will enjoy the choice of three options: trade-in, retain or return.
How it works 1. Select your Porsche Macan model. 2. Select your preferred term from either 36 or 48 months, an annual kilometre allowance and repayment options that suit your lifestyle. 3. At the end of your chosen term, select from one of the three below end of term options:
Trade-in:
Retain:
Return:
If you wish to trade-in your Porsche for a new vehicle, all you need to do is return it to your Porsche Centre. If the trade-in value is higher than the GFV^, you can use this equity towards your new Porsche.
If you prefer to retain your Porsche, simply let us know. ROBERT CHAN
PORSCHE SALES EXECUTIVE
A perfect day for PCW Sales Exec Robert Chan is a mix of talking cars with clients and then building dream cars for them to own. What is your role at PCW? I have been part of the Porsche Centre Willoughby team for 3 years now as a Porsche Sales Executive. I assist in our Mandarin and Cantonese speaking clientele's experience.
Tell us a little bit about your motoring background? My motoring career started at Mercedes-Benz as a Sales Executive. A few years on, I made a switch to Lexus where I was a Sales Executive primarily, then later for a short while a Business Manager.
What appealed to you about working with the Porsche brand? At the beginning, I was fascinated by the rich history of Porsche cars and its exceptional performance and engineering achievements. Now, what most appeals to me the most is working together with a client to build their perfect Porsche (sometimes a childhood dream).
What has been your experience working with the PCW team? Our sales team… you could not possibly pick a group of people more different to each other. I’m not sure how, but our very different characters work together in absolute harmony.
Do you have a favourite model? The 2011 997 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 for me, it might just be the 911 to drive (the ’73 RS being the one to own), balancing old-world values with modern era driveability. I think the final 997 had it all.

Describe your perfect day at Porsche Centre Willoughby?
How have you found PCW compared to the likes of the other luxury car brands you’ve worked for?
The perfect day is when it’s not too busy, client drops by to catch up over a coffee, we talk about cars…
The Porsche brand is far more exclusive compared to the other mainstream brands I previously worked for. At Porsche, I have the opportunity to really connect with my clients which I value the most. I have met some extraordinary individuals and have made some good friends whilst working at PCW.
How did you find your way here? When I was working at Lexus, I invited a colleague and his wife over to my place for dinner. His wife (Sammy) is a Service Co-ordinator at PCW. I discovered that a Sales Executive had recently left so I emailed my CV to Sammy to be passed onto management. I was interviewed 3 times over 6 months, they finally gave me a job.
Tell us about your life outside of PCW Sunday is family day, usually at the park with my wife and 2.5 year old daughter then trying out a new restaurant for dinner. My wife and I love skiing and diving but it’s not so easy with the little one. I also enjoy a spirited drive up a mountain as my way to unwind from a busy day. A few times a year, I track my Evo X at Wakefield Park, I’ve been going there since I was a teenager.
What has been a highlight during your time at PCW? As part of my induction to the Porsche brand, I completed Level 1 Advanced Driver Training at Mt Cotton QLD. The program itself was outstanding, but I had a lot of fun sliding around in 911’s and 718’s on the skid pan.

Bullrush T R A C K D AY Bullrush Rally is Australia's ultimate road trip and automotive lifestyle community
The Willoughby team transformed a pit garage into a corporate suite.
Porsche Centre Willoughby have partnered with Bullrush on a number of events over the years, the latest was the Bullrush Track Day which let drivers enjoy the maximum performance of their vehicles in the safe and controlled motorsport environment of SMSP.
The Porsche Willoughby team set up at the break of day for the fun filled experience of the Bullrush Track day. Pitt garages 43 and 44 were turned into a mobile Porsche Centre as a full length Porsche in motorsport graphic was applied to the entire wall. Multiple seating areas and a bar cafe were being positioned as the grumbling engine sounds of GT cars rolled into the surrounding garages.
Sprinkled with some Bullrush style, these days employ professional race car drivers as instructors with multiple workshops and various skill building activities.
Run by Simon Allsop and Marko Seider, participants on the day had a broad range of motorsport activities to choose from. Of course, there was the track time on the Sydney Motorsport Park Circuit which was ablaze with colour as every performance make and model you could think of was pushed hard on this premier venue. Behind the pits there was a skid pan on offer to hone the skills past the limit of traction, with many experienced hands throwing buckets of water left and right as they manoeuvred around the wet skidpan. If sliding on a wet surface wasn't your thing then you could make your way over to the 4WD track to stir up the dust.

T R A C K D AY Porsche GT4 driver "DB" in attendance brakes down the day from his point of view: "The event is very well organized. I like the format and a plus is having the open skidpan available; this was something that I really wanted to do and hadn't had the chance until now with this car. I've only owned this GT4 for a couple of months and I'm getting familiar with the car and its abilities in the corners. I'm coming from a 911 Turbo S, so I thought I'd miss the power and with the addition of a manual in the GT4, the car just amazes me. The commitment and engagement you feel when driving makes it impossible to have your mind on anything else, pure auto therapy. On the skid pan the car brakes quickly and swings differently to the 991 I have been playing with on the wet surface in the past. It's been interesting to compare the two different engine / driveline configurations and the imputs needed."

One good turn deserves another and as our drivers re-enter the fray, Stewart Budd, piloting our lead car, demonstrated his knowledge and experience by showing us the back way to Bathurst, where the company was treated with a lap of the track itself!

oranges, as the climate in this area is too cool.
The most famous landmark in the small inland city of Bathurst is Mt Panorama. In total the track drops 174m from top to bottom. The loop begins at the lowest point and follows a series of sharp turns, steep straights and huge drops. In non event mode Mt Panorama is a public road with speed limits to be adhered to, yet on race days, race cars can reach up to 300km/hour near the end of the track, on the longest racing straight in Australia (1.9km in length).
After dinner, rest and a delicious two course à la carte breakfast showcasing fresh local produce, enthusiasm levels were again high in readiness for the next day's automotive experience. Mr Budd as usual, did not disappoint! ...although our final destination was only a short distance up the road, beautiful wine is not the only thing to be experienced in this part of New South Wales and our route to Ross Hill Winery would be less direct on this particular morning. Our Porsche procession followed an almost heavenly path over the rolling hills of the Central Tablelands region, an hour and a half’s driving which gained the stamp of approval from our drivers on this Porsche Willoughby event.
The rise and fall of the track coupled with the lack of visibility caused by the concrete walls left drivers new to the experience in awe of the heroes who do it at speed. From Bathurst we headed to Orange and the Byng Street Boutique Hotel: a unique accommodation experience run by Thomas and Kristen Nock and located in the heart of Orange’s heritage precinct. Here, our 911s, 718s, GT cars, Macans, Cayennes and their owners found the perfect location to enjoy everything Orange has to offer.
The final destination was Ross Hill Winery for lunch, where our group was given the opportunity to enrich their tasting experience and insight into the care and passion that contributes to creating their award winning wines. Once at Ross Hill, glasses were raised to thank the PCW family and guests for making another wonderful adventure possible.
Orange is a well-known fruit-growing district, producing apples, pears, cherries, peaches, apricots, and plums, although not

Coming back to the details we mentioned earlier, the secret to a flawless job lies in the paint preparation before the ceramic coating or PPF is applied.
It truly is attention to detail that makes the difference between average and stunning. The smiles on the faces of new Porsche owners cement the fact that the work of Joseph Bacha from Bacha & Co is very much the latter.
Below is an example of (left) before and (right) after paint correction administered to a classic 993 911 Turbo.
To speak to Joseph is to be wrapped in a passion and care for cars and paintwork that is very rare to find, it's a fire which has been burning for a quarter century as a detailer leading to a pro quality, consistent car care results for the cars in his care. All new Porsches delivered to their excited owners have experienced Bacha & Co attentiveness. Joseph says, "Porsche Willoughby are chasing perfection and they want a happy customer. We have a system that ensures perfection on delivery to the showroom." "We find the Porsche drivers really use their cars and they understand at least in principle that the paint on their cars is special and needs protection on the road to keep its brilliance. We consult with the client to understand how they intend to use the car, if the car is predominantly a city driver and only requires protection from the elements, then a ceramic coating is suggested. If country road driving with other cars and loose gravel or track work is in the car's future then we suggest the paint protection film (PPF) as either a 'track pack’, which protects the forward facing surfaces, or all over car protection. The three-layer PPF self-healing membrane has a ten-year warranty. Yes self healing, nicks and scratches will heal as the sun heats the material."

Escape to the Hunter Valley Molines Bistro is just what the Doctor ordered. We take a seat on one of the most glorious Spring days known-to-man and enjoy the beauty of this restaurant’s scenic surrounds.
Every year, Porsche Centre Willoughby hosts some of our valued clients on a drive and luncheon to the Hunter Valley. This year travel to the classic European destinations has been off the menu so the team at Porsche Centre Willoughby decided to bring the views of Italy and the cuisine of France to our clients. Our experience began with a spirited country drive to the Hunter Valley via our favourite stretch of road, the Putty Road. This twisting 174km stretch of tarmac links the northwestern suburbs of Sydney with the Hunter Region. Narrow and winding, particularly in the more northern sections, the Putty road is a favourite with motorcyclists and driving enthusiasts and is a blissful reminiscence of roads long-forgotten. It's well worth a little extra time. On arrival in the Hunter Valley, we were met by acclaimed Robert Molines, owner of hatted Bistro Molines - exclusively opened for PCW - who indulged PCW and our clients in an afternoon of wining & dining. Overlooking a terraced hillside of rose-lined vines belonging to Tallavera Grove Vineyard, Bistro Molines combines the finest food with relaxed friendly service and European influenced serenity. Robert creates sophisticated yet rustic French Provincial dishes for his ever-changing menu and continues to amaze with his culinary genius that attracts people the world over to his little piece of paradise.

Soaking up the beautiful surroundings we relaxed over an exquisite 3-course lunch with matched tasting wines from the local area while time flowed on into the afternoon. Afterwards, when all the senses were satisfied, some clients joined us on the road home while others stayed and explored the huge variety of unexpected, fun and exciting experiences the surrounding vineyards had to offer. Thank you to all our PCW clients who joined us on this fabulous day trip to the Hunter Valley. dual-clutch transmission (PDK). Both the Boxster and Cayman 718 GTS 4.0 variants as well as the range-topping 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 models, are now also available with an automatic transmission. With PDK, there are no interruptions in acceleration during gear changes. This increases the comfort of the gear shifts and improves the acceleration values, when compared with the 718 models with the manual transmission. 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 – now accelerate from 0-100 km/h half a second faster, in 3.9 seconds. They reach the 200 km/h mark in 13.4 seconds (0.4 seconds faster). The 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 and 718 Boxster GTS 4.0, both with 294 kW (400 PS), also improve in the standard sprint from 0-100 km/h by half a second to 4.0 seconds, and then reach the 200 km/h mark in 13.7 seconds (0.4 seconds faster compared with the manual transmission).

Sport Chrono In the 718 GTS 4.0 models, the standard Sport Chrono package adapts the gear shift characteristics of the PDK according to the four different driving modes (Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual). In Sport mode, it operates with faster gear changes, shifts down earlier with automatic throttle blips, and supports optimal acceleration with later shift points. The even more athletic Sport Plus mode is tailored for maximum performance and fully exploits the rpm reserves of the naturally aspirated sixcylinder boxer engine. Launch Control is also integrated within Sport Plus, which activates an automatic race start with the PDK.
