In the previous edition of W, number 23, we featured the forthcoming Taycan, our dynamic 911 Turbo and the return of our Cayenne GTS. We were and still are, very excited about the Taycan. To release such a magnificent vehicle as our first BEV was very rewarding; we welcomed new clients to PCW and Porsche, plus many existing clients adopted the new technology. I still look in awe when I see one being driven around Sydney. Such a presence and one that has fitted in so well with our other models. After some small delays, we commenced our Taycan deliveries in March this year and saw 22 new adopters of our first electric car drive off into the sunset! The split between Taycan 4S and Turbo was 50/50 in March with a further 25 being delivered by the end of June. Our next derivative of the Taycan arrives later this year, the 2022 Model Year Cross Turismo, with client delivered versions commencing in 2022. We also have the release of our first 911 GTS and GT3 in the last quarter with a surprise generation change for the Macan announced in very late July. We expect to see this face lifted version of the Macan in October or November with a few lucky clients being able to take delivery prior to Christmas. The Boxster 25 year anniversary model has found a few homes with our PCW owners, making me realise how our industry has changed since the introduction of the Boxster in 1996. The forthcoming year will, as always, bring some exciting new models and also introduce us to a new CEO for Porsche Cars Australia, Daniel Schmollinger succeeds Sam Curtis on September 1st 2021. Currently VP of Marketing at Porsche China, he will bring to Australia a wealth of experience having been with Porsche for 17 years in Japan, South Korea and in Zuffenhausen. Our departing CEO joined us in February 2014 and has overseen substantial growth in our region, having focused on customer satisfaction, as well as the introduction of Macan and Taycan. We wish him more future success and acknowledge the impact his tenure has had on our business in Australia. It would be remiss of me not to cover the frustrating delays we have experienced this year due to the impact of Covid from March in 2020.
subsequent world shortage of microchips (semi-conductors) increased these delays even more! We have seen vehicles delivery dates alter by two to three months. We even have certain options being deleted on the Macan upon production due to the lack of microchips, fortunately we can retro-fit the absent options in Australia. Next year will be even more performance related than normal; the Macan Gen3 will see increases in their engines, the S model will receive the GTS engine and the GTS will receive the tweaked Turbo engine. The 911 GT3 and GT3 Touring will be even faster and more agile, the 911 GTS will join us in the first quarter of 2022 and an all new model of Cayenne will debut. The Cayenne Turbo GT with 471kW / 640 BHP will achieve 0 – 100 kph in 3.3 seconds and have a top speed of 300 kph! Compared to the Cayenne Turbo Coupé, the Turbo GT rides up to 17 millimetres lower. Based on this, both the passive chassis components and active control systems have been re-engineered and optimised for handling and performance. As an example, the rigidity of the three-chamber air suspension has been increased by up to 15 per cent, and the damper characteristics of the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as well as the application of the Power Steering Plus and rear-axle steering have also been adapted. Available to order at $336,100 plus options and on road costs. As usual in the last edition I was able to give you some very interesting statistics regarding Porsche numbers world-wide. Having achieved sales of 280,800 in 2019, this dropped to 272,162 in 2020 and has now amazingly increased with a prediction of 320,000 for 2021! Down here in Australia we will deliver 4,900 which will be our biggest year ever; prior to Macan in 2013 we sat at 1,905 units. The plans and predictions from Porsche in Germany are positive and bold, by the year 2025 they will have invested some 15 Billion Euro into development and the future of BEV (Battery Electric Vehicles ). By 2025 half the new Porsches delivered will be BEV / Hybrid models. Staggeringly by 2030 Porsche will deliver 80% of their vehicles as only BEV! With the above mentioned thoughts, I look forward to seeing you at PCW when you are tempted to drive a petrol Porsche!
Certainly we have experienced many delays with the production and shipping of new vehicles. The causes are twofold: the pandemic created major problems worldwide and then a

Aerodynamics “We developed the aerodynamics of the new 911 GT3 in around 700 simulations. We spent more than 160 hours fine-tuning the car in the wind tunnel”
D
During development, the engineers pursued one aim in particular: to further enhance the performance of the famous sports car without compromising on everyday usability. The cooperation between the technicians from series development and the specialists from the Motorsport department played an immensely important role here. The technological progress in the area of aerodynamics is particularly apparent. It is the first time that a suspended rear wing has been fitted on a Porsche series production car. Its swan-neck mounting is used in a similar form in the GT racing car 911 RSR and the one-make cup racing car 911 GT3 Cup. Since two aluminium brackets now hold the wing element from above, the airflow can pass undisturbed across the underside, which is aerodynamically more sensitive. This new design led to a reduction in the flow losses and not only increased the downforce, but also resulted in well-balanced negative lift conditions together with many other detailed measures.
AERODYNAMICS ENGINEER MATHIAS ROLL.
The angle of attack of the new rear wing can be set to four different positions. Correspondingly, the front diffuser can also be adjusted to four positions. “The new 911 GT3 generates 50 per cent more downforce than its predecessor at 200 km/h just in the ex-works setting. In the setting with maximum downforce, the increase is as much as over 150 per cent,” adds Roll. Similarly to motor racing situations, the aerodynamic balance of the new 911 GT3 can be individually adapted to track conditions and individual driving style.

The Engine “Not only are the components very similar to those used in our race cars, the development methods are also similar,” explains Roll. “In our ultra-modern wind tunnel in Weissach, we do not just drive straight ahead, we simulate every conceivable driving situation. We make the car roll, pitch and yaw in order to simulate the physical influences on the track.”
HIGH-REVVING ENGINE WITH MOTORSPORT DNA Testing on the test rig during the development of the 4.0-litre high-revving naturally aspirated engine was even more time-consuming. The engine, which responds eagerly when the accelerator pedal is pressed, is based on the racing engine of the GT3 race car, the 911 GT3 R, and is also used virtually unchanged in the 911 GT3 Cup. At 375 kW / 510 PS (horsepower), its output is 10 PS higher than in the GT3 predecessor model. It delivers its maximum power at 8,400 rpm and the electronic limiter only cuts in on this outstanding revving ability at 9,000 rpm. Maximum torque has been increased from 460 to 470 Nm. As in motorsport, precise valve actuation at high revs is delivered via rigid rocker arms. The proven VarioCam technology ensures camshaft control adapted precisely to engine speed and load condition. A crankshaft with large bearing diameters, wide

“In total, the engine ran in for more than 22,000 hours on the test rig. During testing, we repeatedly simulated typical circuit profiles and ran the engine at full throttle for a very high proportion of the time” THOMAS MADER, PROJECT MANAGER, GT ROAD CAR ENGINES.”

connecting-rod bearings and plasma-coated cylinder liners ensure lower friction losses and reduce wear. “The individual throttle valve system is taken straight from motorsport and significantly improves responsiveness,” said engine specialist Mader. The high longitudinal and lateral acceleration forces produced by the new 911 GT3 on race tracks mean that the oil supply for the high-revving engine is of particular importance. Like in motorsport, this is performed by a dry-sump lubrication system with separate oil tank. With a total of seven suction stages, this routes the engine oil back into the external reservoir quickly and efficiently, while lubrication of the highly loaded connecting-rod bearings takes place directly via the oil pump through the crankshaft.

“The engine in our 911 GT3 Cup race car essentially differs in respect of just two components: the exhaust system and the engine control unit. Everything else is identical,” explains Mader. The engine of the new 911 GT3 was also put through its paces by the engineers and test drivers off the test rig. “We conducted 600 emissions tests during development in order to meet the strict standards,” said Mader. Very strict standards were also applied in terms of the engine's endurance: it had to perform flawlessly on a continuous stretch of more than 5,000 kilometres on the oval at Nardo in Italy at a constant speed of 300 km/h, stopping only to refuel.

The focus is not on every tenth of a second, but on unconditional driving pleasure and unfiltered emotions.
For the first time in a 911 GT3, a double wishbone front suspension has been installed. The system is derived directly from the 911 RSR – and brings you valuable seconds ahead in the 911 GT3. The responsiveness of the front axle has been significantly improved once again through this axle principle – and the associated lower friction in the shock absorbers. In addition, the new axle geometry allows for a set-up that provides greater cornering stability and even more immediate steering response. For even faster cornering speeds.
On the rear axle, the proven multi-link axle in the LSA concept (lightweight, stable, agile) is used with an increased number of ball joints for even greater precision. Ride height, camber and the stiffness of the anti-roll bars can be individually adjusted on both axles. Stiffer springs, together with the helper springs typical of motorsport, are used both front and rear. A new shock-absorber technology also allows more powerful driving characteristics, with simultaneously increased driving comfort.

Porsche has unveiled a limited edition model exclusive to the Australian market, to celebrate 70 years of Porsche in Australia. The Porsche 911 GT3 70 Years Porsche Australia Edition will be available with either manual or PDK transmissions, with deliveries to commence from the end of 2021. The edition is based on the new 911 GT3 with Touring Package (type 992), which was also unveiled today. It is the first time that Porsche has based a market-specific edition on a 911 GT product, and the first time a special edition has been created by Porsche for the Australian market. “I congratulate Australia on such a significant milestone,” said Matthias Becker, Vice President Region Overseas and Emerging Markets at Porsche AG. “I am pleased to see that the occasion is being celebrated in style with this sensational special edition, a sportscar that links right back to the start of our journey in Australia and that any Porsche enthusiast would be proud to own.” The 911 GT3 70 Years Porsche Australia Edition was designed in collaboration with experts from the Style Porsche design team, the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur customisation department and Porsche Cars Australia. The special edition boasts various unique exterior and interior design features to celebrate this year’s significant milestone. Limited number of the edition will be produced, each painted in a new customised colour developed by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. The colour, Fish Silver Grey Metallic, is a modern interpretation of ‘Fish Silver Grey’, the colour of one of the first two Porsche 356 imported into Australia back in 1951. “It is fitting that this special edition features exclusive elements that link back to one of the two first Porsche sportscars imported to Australia by Norman Hamilton 70 years ago.” “The 911 GT3 70 Years Porsche Australia Edition will be another special Porsche sportscar that I’m sure will excite fans of the brand for many years to come.“

Throttle control is an essential element to advanced driver training and the wet skidpan is the perfect place to hone this skill under the tutelage of the professional Porsche certified instructor team at the Porsche Advanced Driver Training experience, led by Bathurst winners Tomas Mezera and Luke Youlden. Throughout the day course instructors guided participants through a series of driving exercises, progressively moving around the racetrack to build experience and knowledge, culminating in full laps of Sydney Motorsport Park. We believe the more knowledge owners have of their cars, the more excitement they get out of the experience of driving them. And, importantly, the more safely they will drive. Quotes from our participants: “I’m a big motorsport fan, so it’s a thrill for me to do all this!” “It was a such a shock to see how long it takes to stop in an emergency situation, even for a Porsche, everyone should do this.” “I love the cars but honestly I’m new to this type of stuff, the instructors were always happy to answer my questions and really explain what was going on in a form I could digest.” “The skidpan was a blast, I spent a lot of time spinning but those few times I had it correct – wow that was such a buzz.”

PORSCHE IS CELEBRATING THE 25TH BIRTHDAY OF ITS ROADSTER FAMILY WITH A SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY MODEL: THE BOXSTER 25 YEARS.
986
Concept Study
‘Vision of the sports car of the future’ – the motto of the first Boxster concept study in 1993 could hardly have been bolder. After all, the Boxster was born in the early 1990s – a time when Porsche was facing major economic challenges. At the Detroit Motor Show, Porsche initially stood on the sidelines. And suddenly became the centre of attention.
28
P O R S C H E W I L L O U G H B Y. C O M . A U
The Boxster stands on three basic principles: driving pleasure, driving pleasure and driving pleasure... The basis for this: efficient lightweight construction, open-top driving and a mid-engined layout. The foundation for these virtues had already been laid with the first model from Ferry Porsche, the 356 ‘No. 1’ Roadster. And they live on even today: in every single Boxster spanning four generations.

(996) which was developed in parallel. A move that makes the Boxster – and also the feeling of freedom – affordable. In autumn 1999, Porsche presented the long-awaited S model with 185kW (252PS) power output. Roadster sales boomed. Over 160,000 units were sold.
ith a water-cooled six-cylinder engine and initially 150kW (204PS), the first series-produced Boxster left the Zuffenhausen factory in 1996 – and, at the same time, set a new standard in performance and safety in the roadster segment. It was built with a modern, lean production method – partly based on the basic construction of the 911

he continuation of the successful Boxster concept in 2004 saw a complete overhaul of the interior and deliberate visual changes to the exterior, as well as a 176kW (240PS) powerful drivetrain in the basic version and 206kW (280PS) in the S version. The sporty, compact
proportions nevertheless remained the same. In 2008, Porsche presented a limited special model, the Boxster RS 60 Spyder, and, in doing so, revived the legend of the successful racing icon, the 718 RS 60 Spyder. 2010 saw the first Boxster Spyder leave the yard: light, strong and as open as possible.
3rd Generation | 981 | 2012–2016
W
ith the 3rd generation, the Boxster made the biggest evolutionary leap in design to date. The design language became even more independent, even ‘more grown-up’. The flat flyline, typical of mid-engines, the extended wheelbase, the wider track and larger wheels stood for that visceral forward
thrust and a strong character. The new door design in particular clearly focused on the mid-engine layout and found its inspiration in the mid-engined sports car, the Carrera GT. The power output started at 195kW (265PS) and reached 276kW (375PS) in the Boxster Spyder in its strongest form.
4th generation | 982 | since 2016

four-cylinder turbocharged horizontally opposed engine with early applied torque delivers 220kW (300PS). With the 4.0-litre six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine that has been installed in the 718 Spyder since 2019, the 718 model series reaches its current high performance level: with a proud 309kW (420PS) and an acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in up to 3.9 seconds.
ince 2016, the Boxster has continued the legacy of the early 718 mid-engined race cars – also in terms of its name. And carries the feeling of numerous mountain races and legendary long-distance races, such as the Targa Florio and the 12 Hours of Sebring, into the here and now. And onto the road. The basic version of the completely redeveloped

The 4.0- litre six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine and a powerful 294kW (400PS) opens up the whole world to you. Maximum torque: 420Nm. With PDK: 430Nm. The sprint brings you to 100km/h in a mere 4.5 seconds. In combination with PDK and Launch
Control, you can even reach the 100km/h mark in just 4.0 seconds. The responsiveness? Direct. The revs? Oh yes. Highly emotional yet efficient: the power unit is equipped with direct fuel injection (DFI), an integrated dry sump lubrication and an adaptive cylinder control. In addition, a variable intake manifold with switchable resonance
valves provides the engine with optimum ventilation. You’ll know what that means just by listening to the engine. Because even the sports exhaust system with the two separated tailpipes made of stainless steel in silver colour (high-gloss) is more than just decoration. It is in fact you telling the world that you are on the road with visceral driving pleasure.
25 years old. And still playing on the street.

robably the most classic of all Porsche Roadster colour palettes: the combination of the red interior with silver-coloured exterior paintwork. There is no doubt that our designers have chosen this timeless combination for the Boxster 25 years. The leather interior in Bordeaux Red is rounded off with trim strips on the dashboard and the centre console in brushed aluminium. A leather interior in black is optionally available. The multifunctional GT sports steering wheel with mode switch has motorsport characteristics. Just like the analogue stopwatch that visually completes the Sport Chrono Package. Typical for the Boxster: the three round instruments. With a central rev counter and specific two-tone ‘Boxster 25’ logo.

The Boxster 25 years anniversary model embodies all the virtues you could wish for in a roadster: drive supremacy, low centre of gravity and excellent agility. It is already an important part of Porsche history. It reminds us of turbulent times – and of soaring heights. And one thing above all: that driving pleasure will never be a question of age but always of the right attitude. So let’s go, get in, adjust the seat and the steering wheel – and start the engine.

RACHEL EADE
We speak to second-year apprentice Rachel at the beginning of her journey to discover how she found the Willoughby family.
PORSCHE TECHNICIAN
What is your role at PCW? My role at PCW is that I’m the 2nd year Apprentice
Tell us a little bit about your motoring background? For as long as I can remember I’ve had an interest in cars but they’re not something I grew up around or had as a shared interest to anyone close to me until a few years ago.
What appealed to you about working with the Porsche brand? The Porsche brand is well known and well respected for good reason. The cars are unique and ahead of the game. To be evolving as they do while still holding and portraying their origin and history is impressive. There’s so much to Porsche and the way the company succeeds and grows.
What has been your experience working with the PCW team? My experience with PCW team has been amazing. Everyone has been so accepting, encouraging and supportive. I feel very lucky to be part of the workshop team.
Do you have a favourite model? I feel like being asked to pick a favourite model is like being asked to pick a favourite child (not that I would know what that’s like) but if I had to choose I’d be likely to go with a 992 Turbo S or I couldn’t really go past the tractor.
Describe your perfect day at Porsche Centre Willoughby? The perfect day at PCW would include a chance for me to learn something new with the help of the experienced technicians and share in the workshop environment.
How do you relax and unwind from a busy day? After a busy day ideally I’d love to watch the sunset and maybe grab a coffee either by myself or with a friend. Although I’ll usually head to the gym most evenings (still working on being a morning workout person).
36
P O R S C H E W I L L O U G H B Y. C O M . A U
How long have you been with PCW? I started at PCW in January 2020, this was the start of the first year of my apprenticeship.
How did you find your way here? I spent some years doing other jobs like hospitality and administration but didn’t feel content, I knew I wanted to try something new and kickstart a career. After much consideration I had a gut feeling that mechanics is what I wanted to do, mind you this is completely based on interest and a want to learn about a passion I hadn’t explored much yet. After not much lucky applying for different workshops for just over a year, I came across PCW’s ad for first years and couldn’t pass up the opportunity. I was pleasantly surprised to have secured an interview and very happy when I landed the job.
But the first that comes to mind would be finally getting to go to Melbourne for my first week of training after it having to be postponed for about a year.
Tell us about your life outside of PCW Outside of PCW I enjoy catching up with friends, whether for coffee, drinks or a meal, a nice walk doesn’t go astray. Every few weeks I head back down the coast to Nowra where I’m from for a weekend of catching up with friends and family. And I often find myself at the gym or doing something active. I enjoy going for drives and adventures that often involve a new place.
What has been a highlight during your time at PCW? I think there’s been a few little occurrences that stand out but there’s a few bigger that could compete for the highlight.

Sportscar Together Day celebrates the passion our owners, enthusiasts and fans share on the anniversary of the first Porsche sports car being registered, the 356 ''No. 1'' Roadster which made its maiden voyage on June 8, 1948.

ringing together sports car enthusiasts, the Porsche Centre Willoughby Sportscar Together day celebrates our love for our iconic Porsche brand and our passion for sports cars. Our showroom was transformed into a museum of new and classic Porsche sports cars on display, each car being chosen to represent Porsche history throughout the decades from the beginning until today. Attendees experienced Porsche giveaways, show bags, freshly made outdoor pizza and coffee available throughout the festivities; it was a day for the kids and the enthusiasts alike.
#SPORTSCARTOGETHER
From the buoyant spirit of the 1950s, our showroom display featured a beautifully elegant Metallic Green 1958 356 Cabriolet, the 356 Cabriolet of this era offered similar styling to the racy, minimalist Speedster but also provides more in the way of creature comforts and a more practical soft-top. The Porsche representing the sixties is a naturally cool Slate Grey 1969 911 T with heritage pattern on the seats and a few personal owner touches – reminiscent of the 1970 Porsche 911 owned by Steve McQueen, which featured in his 1971 film Le Mans.

The Porsche 356/1 was the first real car created by Ferdinand "Ferry" Porsche
Immediately after the legendary 1973 Carrera 2.7 RS finished its limited production, a small series of Carreras were built for ‘restof-world’ markets that were an updated equivalent of the 1973 RS Touring models. Our next car has three great things going for it, it is one of those rare and now universally collectable Porsche 911s know as the Carrera 2.7 MFI from 1974, it is painted in Salmon Metallic over midnight blue interior and it is a Targa. Next, it is the eighties and that means Guards Red, looking every bit the ultimate development of the original 911 which first appeared in 1963. These “last of” the classically styled 911s, embodying the end of a sports car era which lasted for 26 years, eventually replaced

The nineties landed with a "BAD-BOY" explosion, represented here by the 1991 Porsche 964 3.3L Turbo Coupe in black, with just over 3,600 of the 3.3-litre cars built worldwide these cars are now becoming one of the most globally desired modern day Porsches. For many the Porsche motorsport white 1995/6 model 993 911 RS is the most enjoyable performance car to drive, it’s just such a good car and so easy to drive and so forgiving. Things get a little quicker with the fabulous mark 1 996 911 GT3, marking the beginning of the Porsche GT cars. Followed by a rare and striking factory black 2010 997 mark 2 911 GT3 RS Noted by the notable as the highpoint in the bloodline and the one to choose if you could only choose one. And then the car that brought the “Street” back to the Motorsport division with its naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat six, GT3 suspension and a six-speed manual gearbox, the 2016 991 911 R is undoubtedly one of Porsche's greatest models Make way for the godfather of the line up; faster, wider, stiffer, more powerful and more ‘motorsport’ than any road-going 911 that 41

Porsche Guaranteed Future Value. Anticipate the next turn. You have great plans for the future and we don’t want anything to stand in your way. In our experience, the better you plan your goals the easier they are to achieve. Our solution? Porsche Guaranteed Future Value (GFV)^. Porsche GFV^ is a flexible finance program that allows you to guarantee the minimum future value^ of your Porsche Macan at the time of purchase, giving you peace of mind knowing the value of your vehicle is secured.
Whether you are selecting your Macan for business or personal use, you can choose the contract term that best suits your requirements. The interest rate is fixed for the life of your loan and there are no account keeping fees. At the end of your Porsche GFV^ contract, you will enjoy the choice of three options: trade-in, retain or return.
How it works 1. Select your Porsche Macan model. 2. Select your preferred term from either 36 or 48 months, an annual kilometre allowance and repayment options that suit your lifestyle. 3. At the end of your chosen term, select from one of the three below end of term options:
Trade-in:
Retain:
Return:
If you wish to trade-in your Porsche Macan for a new vehicle, all you need to do is return it to your Official Porsche Centre. If the trade-in value is higher than the GFV^, you can use this equity towards your new Porsche Macan.
If you prefer to retain your Porsche Macan, simply let us know. Provided that you also meet the relevant payment obligations under your contract, you can purchase your vehicle outright for the GFV amount locked in at the start of the contract^. Then your vehicle is yours to keep. Or you can choose to refinance your balloon at the end of the term.
All you need to do is hand your Porsche Macan back and, if the vehicle meets the agreed kilometre and fair wear and tear requirements^, you will have no more to pay.

Maintaining your Porsche Macan Your Porsche is an investment in quality, so naturally you’ll want to maintain it accordingly. If you wish to return your Porsche Macan at the end of your finance agreement, it must meet the criteria set out within the Fair Wear and Tear Guide. Your vehicle must also not exceed the pre-nominated kilometre limit (set by you, based on your anticipated usage at the beginning of your contract). For more information, the Fair Wear and Tear Guide can be downloaded by scanning the QR code below. It can also be found on porsche.com.au/PorscheGFV.

^Porsche Guaranteed Future Value consists of an option to return your vehicle to Porsche Financial Services (PFS) ABN 20 097 071 460, Australian Credit Licence 389344, at the end of the term and requires PFS to purchase the vehicle at an agreed price determined by PFS, known as the Guaranteed Future Value (GFV). At the end of the term, you can elect to: (1) trade-in; (2) return; or (3) retain the vehicle by paying the GFV, which is a lump sum owed to PFS at the end of the loan term after all repayments have been made. You will be liable for any loan contract deficit and additional charges if you exceed the nominated kilometre allowance and/or the vehicle is not in an acceptable condition. Available on new and demonstrator Porsche Macan models. Contact your Official Porsche Centre to verify eligible vehicles for this program. Coming back to the details we mentioned earlier, the secret to a flawless job lies in the paint preparation before the ceramic coating or PPF is applied.
It truly is attention to detail that makes the difference between average and stunning. The smiles on the faces of new Porsche owners cement the fact that the work of Joseph Bacha from Bacha & Co is very much the latter.
Below is an example of (left) before and (right) after paint correction administered to a classic 993 911 Turbo.
To speak to Joseph is to be wrapped in a passion and care for cars and paintwork that is very rare to find, it's a fire which has been burning for a quarter century as a detailer leading to a pro quality, consistent car care results for the cars in his care. All new Porsches delivered to their excited owners have experienced Bacha & Co attentiveness. Joseph says, "Porsche Willoughby are chasing perfection and they want a happy customer. We have a system that ensures perfection on delivery to the showroom." "We find the Porsche drivers really use their cars and they understand at least in principle that the paint on their cars is special and needs protection on the road to keep its brilliance. We consult with the client to understand how they intend to use the car, if the car is predominantly a city driver and only requires protection from the elements, then a ceramic coating is suggested. If country road driving with other cars and loose gravel or track work is in the car's future then we suggest the paint protection film (PPF) as either a 'track pack’, which protects the forward facing surfaces, or all over car protection. The three-layer PPF self-healing membrane has a ten-year warranty. Yes self healing, nicks and scratches will heal as the sun heats the material."

W W magazine catches up with long-time Porsche Willoughby client Ken Dunnet at the Terrey Hills Golf and Country Club to share in two of his great passions; reducing his handicap and his new Taycan Turbo. I count myself as a real Porsche fan and at the time of hearing about the Taycan I was driving a 911 Turbo and my wife had a Macan, two special Porsches as everyone knows. When I heard they were going to do an electric car I put my name down straight away. Granted it did take a long time for the model to come to Australia. So while I waited, there was plenty of time to immerse myself in all the media reports about the car, of which there were many. To start off the accolades the Porsche Taycan won two categories in the 2020 World Car of the Year Awards (WCOTY) named as;
World Luxury Car of the Year World Performance Car of the Year. Car of the Year: Top Gear magazine (UK) Game Changer of the Year: Top Gear magazine (UK) China Green Car of the Year: Chinese Car of the Year (CCOTY) German Car of the Year: German Car of the Year (GCOTY) Connect magazine (Germany) Innovation Prize
really a car person but when I saw this thing drive into the club car park I was thinking, WOW what is that?” It really has a strong presence on the road.
Also scientists loved the Taycan and declared it the most innovative car in the world. Thanks to a total of 27 new developments, the Porsche Taycan sits as the most important innovation driver in the global automotive market. 13 of these, or almost half, are world firsts.
I was convinced that this was going to be, not only another great car from Porsche, but a turning point in the history of the car. I really wanted to see one in the metal, to get a glimps of the futuristic marvel. I was so excited about the car, I believe I was the first at Willoughby to receive their Taycan. It doesn't dissapoint because boy does it have a strong presence. In fact there’s a lady that plays in our golf group who said "you know I’m not
One thing that stands out to me when driving the car was the quality of the ride. I really love how much room it has, yet it still feels like a Porsche in the way it handles and of course its acceleration. When I take people for a ride in the car there are definitely some expletives coming from the passenger seat. My wife says it sounds like a jet on the go and paired with the Taycan sound enabled it definitely has the future written all over it. This car is my tenth Porsche bought from Porsche Willoughby/ SVM in fact my first car was a 928 purchased from Scuderi Veloce Motors in Lindfield.

I’ve been down to Berry and back in the Taycan on one charge. The Taycan shows it has a 420km range when it’s fully charged, I have found is that it goes better than that. It's a lot like Porsche quoting acceleration times, they under quote and over deliver. I do like that philosophy.

I’ve loved them since I was in high school. My high school teacher had a new 356, you know the upside down bathtub? It really captured my imagination so much so that when the 911 came out, I was ready, I had saved up all the money that I could after a couple years in the army and I was headed for a 911. But I had a problem; buying the 911 wouldn’t leave me any money to go and see Heather here in Australia… my brother told me I was crazy, he set me straight and said "cancel that order and go to Australia, you can go and buy Porsches later." So I migrated out here and I ended up with a wife and a Porsche, a 928 in fact, which was the first of many. I’ve had 911 Turbos, three Macans, boxsters and also the Taycan. Porsche just makes beautiful cars and I knew this one would be no different. We have a group of twenty who play together here at Terrey Hills Golf Club and eight of them have bought Porsches from Porsche Centre Willoughby through me singing their praises. On driving; I’ve been down to Berry and back in the Taycan on one charge. The Taycan shows it has a 420km range when it’s fully charged, yet what I have found is that it probably goes better than that. I find it to be a lot like Porsche quoting acceleration times, where they under quote and over deliver. I do like that philosophy. I’ve got an app that tells me where the Chargefox Charging Stations are and if they’re in use, it’s quite a handy app here on my phone. There is a live map here that shows me all the charge points in Australia, if a station is blacked out, it shows me that someone is using that charging point.
"We have a group of twenty who play together here at Terrey Hills Golf Club and eight of them have bought Porsches from Porsche Centre Willoughby through me singing their praises."
The icing on the Taycan ownership cake is that the charging is free for three years, it is a part of the Porsche Taycan deal. See you in the dealership for a coffee soon!

Twelve years ago, Porsche introduced the first GTS version of the 911. Now, a new generation of the popular sports car model is being launched – more powerful and visually distinctive, and with better driving dynamics than ever. Its six-cylinder boxer engine delivers 353 kW / 480 PS (horsepower), which is 22 kW / 30 PS (horsepower) more than the current 911 Carrera S (type 992) and the previous 911 GTS (type 991.2). An eight-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK), GTSspecific suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), and the high-performance braking system from the 911 Turbo, ensure the superior transmission of longitudinal and lateral forces. Driving dynamics will be further improved with the optional Lightweight Design package, which will be available on the GTS for the first time and saves up to 25 kilograms.
Approximately a year and a half after the market launch of the 992, the 911 range is welcoming sporty GTS models to the family.
The understated sporty looks of the new models feature black contrasting bodywork elements and darkened headlight areas. Black is also the dominant colour of the interior. Many features made of Race-Tex microfibre create an ambience that is both dynamic and elegant. The latest generation of Porsche Communication Management (PCM) brings numerous improvements in operation and connectivity.

TECHNOLOGY
bespoke suspension and unique sports exhaust system The turbocharged three-litre flat-six in the new 911 GTS delivers 353 kW / 480 (horsepower). Maximum torque is 570 Nm, an increase of 20 Nm over its predecessor. The 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupé with the eight-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK) accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds. A sevenspeed manual transmission with a particularly short throw is available only for the 911 GTS Coupé with rear-wheel drive as a no-cost alternative to the PDK. Its suspension is derived from the 911 Turbo and modified for the GTS, its standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) ensures the dampers respond to dynamic changes at lightning speed. In the Coupé and Cabriolet, PASM is standard, combined with the 10-millimetre-lower sport chassis. The concept of helper springs at the rear stems from the Turbo models where the main springs are under tension in all driving conditions. The 911 Targa 4S chassis with PASM is employed for the 911 Targa 4 GTS. The high-performance braking system from the 911 Turbo is also present on the GTS. The 20-inch (front) and 21-inch (rear) black, centre-lock alloy wheels are also from the 911 Turbo. The standard sports exhaust system is responsible for an even more emotive soundtrack, thanks to its GTS-specific set-up and the omission of some interior insulation.

A GTS FIRST
Lightweight Design package: less weight, more downforce Driving dynamics are further improved with the Lightweight Design package, which will be available for the first time on a GTS. The package includes lighter carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) full bucket seats, lightweight glass for the side and rear windows, and a lightweight battery. The rear seats are also removed. Other performance enhancements include rear-axle steering as standard in this equipment package and additional aerodynamic finishing touches.
EXTERIOR
Numerous black accents in silk or high gloss A multitude of black or darkened exterior details is characteristic of the 911 GTS. On the 911 Targa 4 GTS, this also includes the modeldefining hoop and Targa lettering. Additional elements painted in black silk gloss include the spoiler lip, the centre-lock alloy wheels, the engine cover louvres, and the GTS script on the doors and rear of the car. The exterior package, in which these and other details are executed in high-gloss black, is an option. All 911 GTS models effectively have the Sport Design package, with distinctive trim for the front, rear and the side sills. The headlight rims and daytime running light surrounds are darkened, and the car is fitted with standard LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus). The rear lights are unique to the GTS models also. 63
