Rolling Start
PORSCHE WILLOUGHBY - 911% PORSCHE SINCE 1969.
AAfter featuring the new Generation Macan range, the Cayman GT4RS, our sensational Taycan Cross Turismo and a PCW drive day at Destination 70 North in the 25th edition of W magazine, we decided to dedicate an article to Pre Owned Porsche Approved.
As you would be aware, during the pandemic and subsequently after as well, the scarcity of pre-owned Porsches has generated a great deal of interest from existing owners and first time Porsche buyers. The new vehicle continued shortage due to many different reasons, has placed pressure on this market. When one considers the availability of Factory warranties that can be purchased over and above the minimum one year we offer, it can become very appealing to consider a pre-owned Porsche. The front cover of this edition features a 911 C4S Cabriolet, PCW 50th Anniversary and a 718 Boxster 25th Anniversary, both in Carrara White and both with many Exclusive options.
Our future release article is of course the fascinating 911 GT3 RS which will begin production in January 2023, as you will see, it is a very exciting new addition to our already sensational 911 range of Sports Cars. Andreas Preuninger has penned an article on "the most track oriented GT car ever produced by Porsche to date". We have included a timeline going back to the 996 GT3 RS which will be very informative for you. Personally, I spent many hours building our very first RS which hopefully will be delivered early in the new year.
Which brings me to a first time feature in this edition, our Porsche Car Configurator expert tips article, written by Stewart Budd, a very capable young man when designing new Porsches.
I really do suggest you spend the time to read his article, it is highly informative. Stewart is one of our Sales Consultants, he has recently completed 10 years of service with us, where did those years go? Whilst on this subject Grant Coulson also has achieved ten years in his position of Sales Consultant together with Ben Drew, our Operations Manager who has been with us 15 years!
Our staff profile features Rielle, she is the smiling front line face of PCW and will always attend to any of your requests when visiting PCW. Rielle is in partnership with Randa at our reception area, you will be speaking with Randa when being followed up after your routine service visits. Both of our ladies make terrific coffee, so please take the time to relax in our client lounge area.
I think you will enjoy our article on 1.21 Gigawatts, rather humorous and very informative.
We feature our Winter Warmer Event when over 200 future and existing clients joined us to, in some cases, meet us for the first time. Our reasoning for this sensational cocktail party was to assure the 76% of clients attending, who had never purchased a Porsche from us before, that it was WORTH THE WAIT! Please read the article, we even had our local magician present, German beer was flowing and our authentic band was very much appreciated.
My introduction to the new CEO of Porsche Cars Australia, Mr Daniel Schmollinger, who will bring with him so much experience from around the globe. We were very appreciative when he took the time to travel with his wife Constanze from Melbourne to join us in Sydney.
Porsche in Germany delivered a staggering 300,000 vehicles in 2021 worldwide! May I gently move backwards through a couple of years to March 13th 2020 when we were delivering 400 to 450 vehicles a year, say up to 40 a month. The pandemic hit, and we all assumed business was over for a few years, quite the opposite happened. Business actually tripled in some months when we were taking 100 to 120 new car orders each month! As most of you would realise, all new cars are very, very hard to obtain, we are quoting 12/18/24 months on some models. We also have to remember the model year change when the Cayenne becomes a generation 2 and the 911 also will have a generation change. Fortunately, our forward order holders are being very patient and extremely understanding.
Our new car order intake went from 415 in 2020 to 709 in 2021, a 71% increase ! Then in the first half of 2022 we took 496 orders, in SIX months ! Double this and we would be at 1,000 orders in the year. Therefore we made an unprecedented decision to cease accepting orders for all 718 and 911 models, which incorporates both Cayman and Boxster derivatives.
We look forward to many new models coming from Porsche over the next year, the first is our breathtaking Cayman GT4RS which arrives in early November, the next one… Who knows? See you soon we hope.

FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION.
T GT3 RS
It is obvious when you first look at the car, that the core concept here focuses squarely on aerodynamics, it looks very much like a race car, and it is not just looks that are shared. It has aerodynamic downforce figures that are double that of its predecessor, that means at 285 kms/h there is 860 kilos of downforce on the car and even at 200 kms/h we have 410 kilos of downforce in play! This amount of downforce really changes the game for high-speed corners. How did we achieve these figures? The answer is active aerodynamics, we have a huge 6 feet wide rear spoiler positioned higher up than ever before, right up in the cleaner air above the roof line. The rear wing is in constant communication with two modules hidden beneath the front lamps, there, active diffusers that work in synchronicity, adjusting along with the rear wing flap that moves up and down to get maximum performance.
This car does not only feature a lot of aerodynamic components from the 911 GT3 R race car, we've even taken a feature found in Formula One! A drag reduction system (DRS) that the pilot can activate via a button on the steering wheel to reduce drag and give the car the best performance possible out of corners and on the longer straights. Everything on the car has a function. If we start with the nostrils on the front hood, they're there to guide the hot air that exits the new motorsport derived central radiator to both sides of the car and guide the air outward of the centre section where the intake system of the car is located. This process leaves the oxygen rich, cooler, power producing air for the car’s intake, and we do this by employing front bonnet nostrils and fins

The long wait is over, the Director GT Model Line Andreas Preuninger, gives W his keen insight on the most track orientated GT car ever developed by Porsche to date. Presenting the new 911 GT3 RS.

Perfection is never the start. But always the goal.
Porsche keeps pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Experience the new 911 GT3 RS in top form - with increased race track performance.
positioned on the roof which have a slightly curved geometry to guide the air flow away from the centre section. This radical aerodynamic concept is not only in the middle section of the car, but also on both sides of the car as well.
The two radiators hidden in the front fenders on the predecessor are now gone and in their place is a central unit leaving the area beneath the headlights free to assist with aerodynamics. The airstream on this car is driven through a module hidden beneath the headlamps that is electronically operated with two diffusers, we guide the air through these diffusers and on through the aerodynamically shaped control arms and suspension parts behind the front wheels. Each control arm has a profile that contributes to the downforce of the car in a big way. There are 40 kilos of additional downforce generated solely by using these aerodynamically shaped control arms.
The air moves on and gets ventilated through the now more efficient vents positioned above the front wheel. We saw the first generation of these on the predecessor, air flows out behind the wheel via the new reliefed fender shape, to exhale the air better out from the wheel wells. Air flow continues
along the door, to craft this shape we had to construct a new door made of carbon fibre. The black vertical fin behind the front wheel guides the air close to the body to prevent unwanted back pressure swirls and also houses a clever indicator light. Air is pinned to the side of the car and directed into the rear intakes positioned on the large rear fenders. These are not used anymore as engine intakes. They are now part of the aerodynamic concept to accelerate the air past

The Club Sport Package, optionally available at no extra cost, consists of a steel roll cage behind the front seats, which is bolted to the body and painted in Black or Guards Red as an option. Additionally, the 6-point racing harness for the driver's side increases safety.

40 kg more downforce.
the rear wheels and through another fin behind the rear wheel which keeps the air as flat as possible to the side of the car as it exits. Yet there is more, while a lot of air enters in the front section much also ventures underneath the front splitter. The whole under construction of the car is full of veins and guiding flaps to get the best aerodynamic results.
There was a lot of speculation on what kind of engine would be in this car. It is a four-litre flat 6-cylinder engine, normally aspirated, it has 525 horsepower, that is 15 more than the GT3. How did we do that? With the use of different cam shafts with a higher overlap which creates more ferocity, revving up dynamics and more power at high RPMS. This fire breathing engine still redlines at the stratospheric 9000 RPM mark. The transmission is a PDK gearbox, which is now typical for an RS variant simply due to it being quicker on the track. This gearbox has a shorter final drive compared to the GT3’s unit to compensate for the bigger wheels, 335 section tyres, wider track and all ball-jointed multilink rear axle. Moving our attention to the front of the car, we have a 275 tyre and a wider track by 29 millimetres compared to the GT3 and bespoke wheel guiding components like the aforementioned control arms. There is also a deeper pivot point, that provides an anti-dive system that enables us to keep the car always at the same pitch even under very heavy breaking. That means that the distribution between the front downforce and the rear downforce on the car is constant making the car very controllable.
The brake systems on offer are the standard equipment steel rotors which are revised and enhanced over the ones we use in the GT3, the new RS steel rotors are thicker to create more longevity on the track. A 410 millimetre optional PCCB brake system known to us from the predecessor is also available which is also superb on the track and on the street. The rear calipers on this car have a different piston diameter to get even more stopping power from the super wide rear tyre to create the best stopping times and stopping distances we have ever had on any GT car from Porsche. On the quest for
maximum brake performance, we have an aero aid here as well, the rear wing shifts up, working as an active air brake to create more wind resistance under hard breaking which decreases the stopping times and makes stopping distance a lot shorter.
Another trick we are excited to reveal is that we can control the damper compression and rebound from inside the car. You no longer have to go underneath the car to play around with damper settings, now you can do it from the cockpit!
The new dials on the steering wheel can be adjusted to influence compression and rebound for the front and rear axle, by turning the knobs. Settings are displayed on the screens above in real time and you can create your own individual set up, and still the PSM system damper control is not all you can do. There's another button in the centre of the dial marked ESC, yes traction control can be adjusted to your liking, you can even turn it completely off. Another control element here is the electronic rear differential. You can adjust the values for coast and power to influence the cars behaviour to your liking and to the conditions, if the road is wet or bumpy for example.
With four integrated mode switches, the motorsport-oriented steering wheel offers more diverse setting options than ever before: from DRIVE MODE and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) to Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and Traction Control (TC).
The new aerobars on the front axle increase downforce by reducing turbulence and the flow rate behind the bars – by up to 40 kg at top speed. Sophisticated technology, derived from motorsports.

WEISSACH PACKAGE
The new 911 GT3 RS has a Weissach Package available for the car. There is visible carbon fibre on the front lid and roof, we also offer a rear roll cage made of carbon fibre as well, 6 kilos lighter than the steel variant. You can also order the car with magnesium forged wheels in the Weissach Package which shave off another 8 kilos off the cars overall weight, which is 1450 kilograms in its lowest spec, quite a low figure for a car like this with all the technology involved.

History of the GT3 RS Model Line
996
911
GT3 RS
With only 682 built, it is the rarest GT3 RS. Same 3,600cc engine as in Gen2 GT3, but with excessive weight saving, offering 280bhp per ton – an improvement of 4% over the 996 GT3 Clubsport. PCCB optional. White with side inscriptions in blue or red.
997.2
911
GT3 RS
Has wider front arches and a larger spoiler. Dynamic engine mounts and PASM are standard. Air con is optional, with no door handles, wheel brace or sound proofing. Had the lap record for road models at the Nürburgring.
991.2
911
GT3 RS
The biggest changes centre on the chassis and aerodynamics, plus greater scrutiny applied to weight savings, as befits the RS moniker. The chassis benefits from a set-up philosophy first explored on the GT2 RS. Stiffer springs (double the rate of the previous RS at the front end, 50 per cent up at the rear)
997.1
911
GT3 RS
Featuring the wider rear bodyshell of the Carrera S. 20kg of weight was saved from the original model thanks to carbon fibre engine cover, rear wing and plastic rear window, not to mention the relatively lightweight interior.
991.1
911
GT3 RS
It has 80 per cent of the downforce of a GT3 Cup racing car at high speed. It has carbon body panels, a magnesium roof, the wheels and tyres from the 918 Spyder, the same seats, steering wheel and brakes, too. It's adopted the Turbo body - wider tracks to aid grip and side air intakes for less turbulence and have more ram-air effect into the engine.
992
911 GT3 RS
In this new 911 GT3 RS Porsche has pushed the limits of what it feels is possible for a road car. Porsche has found an additional 5 PS for its 4-litre flat-six, which now produces 525 PS, derived largely from a new cam profile, a new single-throttle intake system and rigid valve drive borrowed from Porsche’s race cars.

A 992-generation Porsche 911 Cabriolet Carrera 4S and a 718 Boxster 25 Year Edition grace the coast line in their Carrara White Metallic paint. The fact that more than 60% of all Porsche vehicles ever built are still on the road today, makes no difference to the street appeal of these two cars.
To help make your pre-owned Porsche purchase easier, Porsche has developed its Approved Pre-owned Car Program which is in use at Porsche Centre Willoughby. No roof? No problem. The 992-generation Porsche 911 Cabriolet is every bit as engaging as its hardtop counterpart. The performance gap between 911 Coupe and Cabriolet is closer than ever before.
21 PORSCHEWILLOUGHBY.COM.AU
The as new, MY22 Porsche 718 Boxster 25 Year Edition finished in Carrara White Metallic with a full leather Bordeaux Red interior is motivated by an engine based on the impressive 4.0L naturally aspirated engine of the GTS model. This car was created to celebrate 25 years of Porsche's iconic mid-engined roadster. If you enjoy driving you would be hard pressed to find a machine that delivers more thrills than this one, especially equipped with the 6-speed manual gearbox.
This car was factory equipped with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) sports suspension with ride height lowered by 20 mm, Adaptive Sports seats Plus (18-way, electric) incl. memory package & Passenger footwell storage net. It was upgraded with a front end clear PPF protection pack from new. Standard equipment includes: fully electric soft top (operable to 50km/h), reversing camera, 3D touchscreen satnav with bluetooth/iPod/Apple Carplay connections plus the venerable 4.0L naturally aspirated (Porsche engineered and built) 4.0L six cylinder engine. It is not possible to order a new version of this car - all 25 Year Editions had to be built in 2021 - 2021 being the 25th anniversary of the Boxster.
Mile after mile, it's hard to find fault with the Cabriolet compared to the 911 Coupe. Even when you aren't living that fabulous top-down lifestyle, the 911 is a car that makes running errands exhilarating. The cabin is quiet with the top up. The engine's power is easy to extract in short bursts between stoplights. The steering and chassis are nimble enough to make darting around city streets a breeze. A number of driver-assistance aids are present to make commuting easier too. You might notice some disparity between the coupe and cabriolet at the limit, say on a track, but that's not where 4S Cabriolets are playing. Plus, you get the added sensory enjoyment of topless motoring: the wind in your hair, the sun gracing your brow. All the better to hear that lovely flat-six hum behind you, too.
The 911 gets a huge tech upgrade for its latest iteration, which is obvious from the minute you get behind the wheel. The central analogue tachometer is flanked by a pair of high-resolution displays, and the right side is reconfigurable, allowing you to see vehicle data, a full-screen map and more.

CLIENT RELATIONSHIP CONCIERGE
If you call into the Porsche Centre Willoughby dealership
What is your role at Porsche Centre Willoughby?
As client relations concierge, my role is to warmly welcome and assist all clients with the help of my colleagues to ensure everyone at Porsche Centre Willoughby is happy and caffeinated!
What has been your experience working with the Porsche Centre Willoughby team?
A second family I got to choose. It has been fascinating to see how Porsche Centre Willoughby has continuously grown and prospered throughout the years and I am very privileged and proud to represent an incredible brand alongside the greatest people.
What appealed to you about working with the Porsche brand?
At Porsche, perfection is standard and not an added option. The brand is simply iconic, whether it be on the road, in a television show or movie, those 911 headlights are instantly recognisable and always make a statement.
Do you have a favourite Porsche model?
Driving a Lizard Green 911 GT2 RS on Willoughby Road everyday wouldn’t be so bad, it’s powerful, good looking and the everyday supercar has room for essentials like bread and milk.
A Lizard Green 911 GT2 RS is a wild car and colour, tell us about why you would choose that car and where would you drive this striking GT car?
Personally, I’ve always favoured bright colours over a classic black or white. Most of the time you’ll hear a Porsche before you see it, being Lizard Green will ensure it turns heads. If I had the opportunity to own or borrow a 911 GT2 RS, I would love to drive it through the South of France. Being my favourite place in the world, Monte Carlo would most definitely be a pit stop, where I would use the wing as a table to enjoy an espresso and take in the immaculate scenery.

Describe your perfect day at Porsche Centre Willoughby.
Every day at Porsche Centre Willoughby is unique and always interesting. Whether it be for sales, service or parts, I especially enjoy meeting both new and existing customers in person after initially helping them with their enquiry over the phone. Putting a face to the name! I leave every afternoon with a smile and a story to tell.
How do you relax and unwind from a busy day?
After a busy day at Porsche Centre Willoughby, I like to keep busy! If I’m not studying, I enjoy catching up with friends over dinner or on an evening walk, followed by dessert as a reward of course.
How long have you been with PCW?
I've been part of the team here at Porsche Centre Willoughby since May of 2021.
Often a passion for cars begins with a special moment, tell us about how your interest began?
My interest in cars has derived from my father’s passion for both German and British pre-1980’s cars. He enjoys restoring them and they still take pride of place in the garage. My first passenger experience was in a Porsche as a one-year-old, it was a red 1974 911 Targa, my father put his foot down in a quiet street and I'm told I cried the entire time. Now however, the sound on cold-start brings a smile to my face.

SPORTSCAR TOGETHER DAY
A Porsche Willoughby day to celebrate sports car fascination
On Saturday 11 June here at Porsche Centre Willoughby we held our yearly Sportscar Together Day. We invited guests to bring the family along and witness the past, present and future of Porsche.
On 8 June 1948, the first vehicle was registered under the name of Porsche. 70 years later in 2018, we took the opportunity to launch the world’s first dedicated day to celebrate sports car fascination: Sportscar Together Day, which we continue to celebrate each year on the same date. Whether you own a sports car or not, you have the opportunity to share your excitement with other sports car enthusiasts and experience sports car fascination – together at Porsche Centre Willoughby.
Overall we had around 40 cars on display on the day. Guests had the ability to explore the centre, including the showroom and Porsche lifestyle exhibit, where questions or enquires could be answered by various members of our sales & aftersales team. We also had technicians from our workshop who spoke to many guests about equipment and servicing.
We looking forward to hosting this event again in 2023!

Powerful down to the last detail: the SportDesign rear section with extensive Black trim, the sports exhaust system in stainless steel with tailpipes in Black as well as the model designation at the rear in Black (matt). An additional feature of the 911 Targa 4 GTS: both the roll-over bar and the Targa logo on the side are also finished in Black.
911 GTS engine.
Producing 353kW (480PS), the 3.0-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder engines of the 911 GTS models represent the peak power of the 911 Carrera and Targa models. This gives the 911 Carrera GTS a top speed of 311km/h.

GREAT SCOTT!
Not so long ago, harnessing 1.21 gigawatts meant a trip Back to the Future. Today, harnessing 1.21 gigawatts is a little less fraught and a lot more practical, being contained within a rapidly expanding network of chargers readily available to the Porsche Taycan.
Between the American and European charging networks, 1.21 gigawatts of combined power has been exceeded for the first time.

Gigawatts: Less time charging, more time travelling
33 PORSCHEWILLOUGHBY.COM.AU
There are currently 670 Electrify America and 372 Ionity locations and counting – which equates to more than 4,800 individual chargers. With the network containing more power than ever before, charging a Taycan is quicker and easier.
In just 22 minutes, the Porsche Taycan can charge from five to 80 per cent, thanks to its 800-volt battery architecture and 270 kW charge speed – meaning less time spent charging and more time travelling. Additionally, with Plug-and-Charge –which must only rank second in convenience to Mr Fusion, the power source of the DeLorean time machine in the blockbuster film Back to the Future – the user simply plugs-in and charging starts automatically, just as the name suggests.
In the US and Canada, Taycan owners benefit from the first 30 minutes of each charge being free for the first three years of ownership.
The all-electric sports car’s built-in Charging Planner also makes locating stations less onerous than trying to coincide a charge with a bolt of lightning.
A 60-second film, intended to make fans of the Back to the Future movies smile, created with the kind permission of Universal Studios LLC and Amblin Entertainment, by filmmaker J.F. Musial, marks the charging network exceeding 1.21 gigawatts of electricity. A threshold that coincided, by chance, with Back to the Future Day (21 October being the date that the character Marty jumps forward in time in the film). Among several ‘easter eggs’, the clip features Donald Fullilove. In 1985, the actor and EV enthusiast played the determined and progress-focused character of Goldie Wilson, who, inspired by Marty McFly went from café cleaner to become mayor of Hill Valley in Back to the Future.
Fans agree it is fitting that Mayor Goldie Wilson now drives a Taycan. He was always a very progressive mayor of Hill Valley.

To help our Porsche Centre
Willoughby clients through a long Sydney winter, we brought an alpine winter experience to the North Shore dealership.
CCan you imagine the Porsche Centre
Willoughby dealership transported to a European winter wonderland, the smell of roasting chestnuts mixed with pine trees is in the air and while a string band ensemble sets the tone for an evening to be enjoyed! A classic 356 speedster complete with a set of period skis and poles strapped to the rear luggage rack over the aircooled engine grill, greets guests as they enter the showroom through lightly falling snow.
37 PORSCHEWILLOUGHBY.COM.AU
As the dealership filled, the winter warmer atmosphere grew. Guests dined on a selection of food they may find in a luxury German ski chalet and imbibe on the crisp light flavour of Fruh Kolsch from Cologne, and the king of beers; König Pilsener from Beeck. Wine glasses clinked and conversation flowed as hors d'oeuvres and finger food on offer allowed guests to nibble while chatting with other guests amongst the pine trees at this elegant party.
With extravagance overflowing Willoughby General Manager Sean Lygo took to the stage to address the guests and reveal a surprise offering on the special occasion as we all deal with the current global situation. On this night Porsche Centre Willoughby offered a lucky guest the chance to skip the queue and drive away in their own Porsche Macan GTS in stunning Python Green.
Special guest from Porsche Cars Australia John Murray then took to the microphone to give an insight into how guests' ordered Porsche cars were developing in Germany, sharing some of the hurdles that Porsche cars was overcoming and how the flow of cars would begin again soon.

PORSCHE CAR CONFIGURATOR EXPERT TIPS
Porsche Centre
Willoughby Sales
Executive Stewart Budd shares his Porsche Car Configurator expert tips and insight into building your dream Porsche.
Expert Tip: If you have decided on a bright loud colour on the outside, my tip is to contrast that with a quieter interior shade on the inside. This advice also works in reverse when you go for a more toned-down exterior choice then you have more options to play with the interior and making the inside unique.
A great starting point is to first choose a model from the Porsche line up. From there we can discuss what variant is most suitable from within that chosen model range. For this example, let’s choose the 911 model, next you are selecting an appropriate power level which begins at the Carrera and increases throughout the Carrera S, GTS and the Turbo etc.
We also need to discover if the client wants 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive and lastly the body shape in Coupe, Cabriolet or Targa.
Colour is often the driving factor with clients, the colour then dictates or guides many interior colour choices or avenues. It's very rare that a client would not have a strong opinion on either exterior colour or an interior they want which in turn then dictates the exterior.
I would show the client around the dealership and point out colour and wheel options which are available on the Porsche configurator.
A Carrera and Carrera S in Coupe are the most popular cars, so for this example we will configure a 911 Carrera. The important main colour choice for this example will be Aventurine Green. Wheel choice is a personal preference, I personally like either the 20-/21-inch Carrera S wheels in silver or the 20-/21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels with the dark Aventurine Green on the Carrera. Keep budget in mind here as wheels can be a big-ticket option, a choice needs to be made if a wheel worth $7150 is better than a wheel which costs only $3400. Potentially that budget saving could be used for a sunroof etc. The configurator really is a game of compromise if you wish to keep to a specific budget, definitely a Porsche Sales Executive can assist here.
In choosing the silver RS Spyder Design wheels I recommend that silver be the theme to flow through other options as we have a lot of elements that adhere to the theme i.e.: the badges, pipes and headlights are silver. If you would like to have a black theme, then I would recommend you have to change the associated elements to match.
The coloured Porsche crest really upgrades any wheel and tire choice.
Moving onto the interior there's a lot of choice. Just like the exterior the main choice here is whether you go for a light interior or a dark interior, note 90% of the cars in our showroom have a dark or black interior. I would explain to the client the meaning to the term ‘full leather’. When we say full leather, it means the dashboard, the tops of the doors and side elbow level trims in the back of the car and the steering column.
PORSCHE CAR CONFIGURATOR
42 PORSCHEWILLOUGHBY.COM.AU
Expert Tip: To make the most of your wheel selection I recommend going to ‘Wheel Accessories’ and changing the centre cap to ‘Wheel centres with full-colour Porsche crest’.
43 PORSCHEWILLOUGHBY.COM.AU
If you wish to specify a light interior and you are happy to opt for full leather, that opens a lot of options for leather colours, quality, and stitching.
Our choice of the Aventurine Green exterior colour, gives us many options, we could choose a classic Two-tone Black and Mojave Beige or choose a lighter option with Slate Grey and Crayon. Truffle Brown is certainly a great choice to accompany Aventurine Green exterior, but for this example we will choose a Club leather interior in Agave Green to emulate classic 911 and 930 heritage cars which were Green on Green.
Let’s talk seats. To me the standard 14-way seats are a great choice, they have everything most clients require. The alternatives are the 4-way and 18-way seats, they have the same look, yet the 18-way has more adjustability and memory options. The best way to make a choice is to see which seat best fits your body, I would definitely have my client come into the dealership and sit in the driving position to understand how each seat feels to ensure they make an informed choice, especially if they are new to Porsche seats.
There are larger interior option packages which group certain exclusive options together, these packages may have restrictions on colour and associated options.
Moving back to the exterior there are five things that I would advise here. First I would advise on selecting a sunroof or glass roof, we are choosing the glass roof to keep the line of the 911 pure. Another option is to take an extra step towards 911 tradition and select Edging trim strips for the side windows in high-gloss anodised Aluminium ‘Trim strips in Aluminium’, normally this element is platinum silver, you can also choose Black (high-gloss). There is also a large selection of decorative Porsche decals as options in this section.
If you wished to put silver on the rear engine grill element this option is only available on the Carrera S model, you can have small strips of body colour added to the rear grill if that was important to you on the Carrera. Note to train spotters, this is how to tell a high spec Carrera from a Carrera S.
Moving on to the 'Drive train / Chassis' the ‘Lifting system front axle’ is a lifesaver if you have a steep driveway entry but most Carrera owners will not need this option which is aimed at the GT cars. Sport Chrono Package is a popular option that many people will opt for. I must say that apart from the handy mode selection dial, the use of other options in the Sport Chrono Package like Sport Plus, Launch control and the Lap timer will on the most part go unused for many Carrera buyers. I like to know the car has dynamic engine mounts even if I can't feel them in use, and yes the analogue and digital stopwatch on the dashboard is a handsome addition to the interior. Defer to your budget when selecting this option, it is purely a client choice and there is no right or wrong answer with Sport Chrono.
My recommendation on the glass, is that it should be left clear on a 911 to best show off the wonderful and iconic traditional 911 window line. It is subtle but the tinted glass can work against this flow and divide the glass in two parts visually. We are leaving the matrix headlights as standard, the option ‘Tinted LED main headlights with matrix beam’ tints the silver black and because we are themed in silver on this example, we'll leave that standard.

Club leather interior in Truffle Brown
Expert Tip: Selecting the ‘Sports tailpipes in Silver’ without ticking the full ‘Sports exhaust system’, to me the car is loud and on full throttle it makes a great noise with the factory exhaust. With the Sports Exhaust System there will be more noise while low-speed driving with associated pops and bangs, when the throttle is down both exhausts make a great noise. So selecting just the Sports tailpipes in Silver option is an inexpensive way of getting the visual upgrade of the 4 pipes without the expensive exhausts upgrade.

"Come into the dealership and sit in the driving position to understand how each seat feels to ensure an informed choice"
A client's buying experience for example may entail an initial enquiry here in the dealership on a Saturday where I would show them quickly the options on the Porsche they are interested in, then potentially they would go home and play on the Porsche configurator themselves and then they would come back in and I would help refine the specification and make any recommendations to assist, before moving forward with a clients special car.
Expert Tip: Now with this collection of options, it is wise to remember if you're building a Carrera as a guide, one should aim and keep the overall price under the RRP of a standard Carrera S.
There are a few safety systems you can option like, ‘Active Parking Support’, ‘Lane Keep Assist’ and 'Night View Assist' which is helpful in country areas to assist in seeing animals on the road ahead, it will alert you and flash them. These layers of protection depend largely on the use of the car.
There's an option to change the steering wheel slightly, this option removes the trim of silver and also the standard heating as we're going for the heritage look we'll keep this standard also.
There's an interesting option to brighten the edge of the dashboard which is a nice way to brighten the interior specification without needing the aluminium insert. There is also a no cost ‘Storage package’ option which comprises a luggage net in the front passenger footwell and two luggage nets in the luggage compartment.
You can also change the colour of the central dial to match your colour theme or use it as a highlight element. I like to draw attention to the subtle elegance of the 911 dials in their standard form here.
In the next ‘Interior in Leather’ section there are two things I would recommend one of them is the ‘Porsche crest on headrests’ and my signature option is ‘Steering column casing in leather’.
In the ‘Audio and Communication’ section I find the standard offering of the Bose system is amazing, the optional Burmester is out of control good. If music is your life and the intricacies of sound is your passion then select the Burmester High-End Surround Sound System box, the Bose stereo is more than adequate for most clients.
Now at the end of the configurator, we are taking stock of what options are selected and we've added $24,830 in options, the main items here are the leather, sunroof, and the wheels. If this is not within my client’s budget, we can go back, and I can show them any alternatives that we can select to achieve a similar look to meet their budget.

Rolling in the gates of SMSP is always an exciting experience, but a night arrival is next level! I'm waved into a pit garage and park my 1973 sports purpose Porsche 911 T behind a 2021 Porsche 992 911 Turbo S. Stepping out of the car I feel like a time traveller from the seventies, I'm surrounded by impressive new Porsche 911 GT cars, Turbos, Carreras and 718 Boxsters and Caymans! I feel like I've brought a knife to a gun fight.
Still I know my old car is no stranger to this place, the car's previous owner had achieved a Senna like moment by winning a wet Porsche Rennsport festival Regularity race in 2016! So it was just the driver who needed help.
On this evening PCW shares SMSP with a mix of car marques sectioned in other groups running in timed sessions. All the Willoughby drivers were in the Porsche group, meaning a mix of driver abilities, experience and car performance. The driver briefing explains overtaking happens on the straight, no waving past. My advice here is just start where you are, all drivers are on a journey, all are climbing the ladder, and some are above you and some below. It is the taking part and the willingness to be coached that moves the experience forward.
Peter who was driving the stunning Gentian Blue 992 911 Turbo S parked in front of me, shares: "In many ways the Willoughby track nights are better than the day events, because, for me, I don't have

to rearrange my schedule to attend and there is no searing midday heat to deal with or the low sun in your eyes on sunset, plus the cars like the cooler night temperatures.
The great race circuits of the world each have a famous corner, the Nürburgring has the Carousel, Spa has Eau Rouge and for Sydney Motorsport Park it's Turn One.
Many don't realise how fast a corner it is, it’s one of the fastest corners on the Australian scene. With a late turn in and a late apex towards the end of the mid corner ripple strip, problems occur when a driver turns in early and is then forced to come off the throttle mid corner. You don’t have to look far to find a story of someone getting it wrong. It’s a corner you’ve got to build up to and bending our instructor's ear is recommended to get you through without incident.
The sessions are 15 minutes long and with our tyre pressures checked by PCW Technician Craig Chivers we all ventured out to bed in the mind and vehicle to track noise, sounds and speeds.
For me a circuit is like a puzzle, I attack each section with advice from the instructor and slowly put a lap together, our last session is when it all clicked.
We had twenty minutes in our final session which was worth sticking around for, I found some clear air to wear a groove into the SMSP tarmac. By the time the faster GT cars caught up, we had a lap all pushing the cars hard together, comradery was high as we rolled back into the pits and I felt like I moved up a few rungs on the driver ladder.

Your vehicle must also not exceed the pre-nominated kilometre limit (set by you, based on your anticipated usage at the beginning of your contract). For more information, the Fair Wear and Tear Guide can be downloaded by scanning the QR code below. It can also be found on porsche.com.au/PorscheGFV.

If you decide to return your car to PFS at the end of your term, PFS will pay you the agreed GFV, which will be put against your final payment subject to fair wear and tear conditions and agreed kilometres being met. At the end of your term, you can elect to (1) trade-in; (2) return; or (3) retain the vehicle by paying the GFV owed to PFS at the end of the loan term after all repayments have been made. You will be liable for any loan contract deficit and additional charges apply if you exceed the nominated kilometre allowance and/or the vehicle is not in an acceptable condition.
