“Every individual has a place to fill in the world, and is important, in some respect whether he chooses to be or not.” – Nathaniel Hawthorne, 1804-1864 2020 was a learning ground for the leaders and non-leaders from all spheres of influence due to the visit of covid-19. We have all been challenged to look within to discover what is the most important reason for living, and how life can affect each and every one of us irrespective of where we may be on this planet. On the other hand, it also brought to like what is lacking in today’s human existence and what needs to be improved upon. When we take stuck of the journey so far and the lessons taken from the past year, it’s undoubtedly a clear fact that each of us need all of us to survive and to recreate what we may have lost in the process of the storm. Despite the challanges, we are forever grateful to Almighty for his grace and mercies during the most difficult times of our journey. Powerhouse

“CAN WE NOT JUST GET ALONG”?

CO-EXISTING WITH COVID-19, INSTEAD OF FIGHTING BACK AUTHOR’S TAKE The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged the world, hotels, airlines, and related travel industries in ways that not even the most successful and powerful CEO’s could have predicted. Clearly, we have limitations! While known responses to ongoing disruptive threats remain unidentified and somewhat elusive, factors such as reoccurring waves of COVID-19 cases, government lockdowns and closures of businesses are all out of our control – however, adapting to the environment to offer personalized, clean and safe guest experiences, are not. - Prof. Peter A. Bheda

W

e must be willing to compromise and live with it- There is no better time than now for hospitality brands to leverage the essence of hospitality – relatability, hospitableness, and personalized attention and it all begins with the acceptance of the fact that we are not going to win this battle of unmeasurable devastation, as new information becomes available to us. Hotel companies must progressively show attention to detail and demonstrate flexibility and innovation to co-exist with COVID-19. Soughtafter amenities have changed; free breakfast, large gyms, and active food and beverage outlets are no longer a guest’s focus prior to booking their stay – the new top priority is safety and cleanliness. Hotels have always ensured the

health and safety of guests; however, they must now operate under a new standard based on CDC recommendations, brand safety initiatives, guest concerns and demands, and governmentissued travel protocols, to maintain a hospitable environment that allows consumers to feel safe away from home. Let us be smart and create a safety rating for hotels, like service ratings or the star ratings used by OTA’s and the brands to distinguish them from the amenities they offer. If brands hit on all cylinders, regardless of their perception and brand equity; then those properties must be recognized as the market leader in how we co-exist during this pandemic. However, these safety standards must be integrated with authenticity, and a genuine desire to protect the

Whether we like it or not, we are in this for a long haul. "I'll bet you it's in a long time from now." Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly says airplane travel will be completely back to normal - at some point. Kelly's comments came as Southwest Airlines posted its biggest loss ever. After much deliberation, Hilton President & CEO Chris Nassetta launched Hilton CleanStayTM initiative with Lysol. Initially, Hilton CleanStayTM was about driving top-line revenue by helping Hilton hotels stand out from the competition in ways that build trust and confidence when guests travel. However, it quickly became the brand standard and involved every area of the hotel operation, including Guestroom, Arrival & Welcome, Public Space & Fitness, Food & Beverage, Amenities & Meetings as well as Physical Distancing. Brands demanded that All Team Members follow these strict guidelines if they wish to be employed by the hotel. Marriott Hotels increased their focus on the Top 10 Hotspots that are to be maintained and sanitized, in some cases, every hour on the hour and decluttering of non-essential

collateral (paper goods, etc.) while shifting some items to single-use disposables. Our industry must include advanced experiences that will involve a low-touch/notouch check- in to complement the existing advantages and benefits of using Digital Check-in and Digital Key; more obvious and frequent cleaning efforts in public spaces; and providing disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer items within high-traffic areas of the hotel at all times. These are just the few examples of how we must adapt to the sudden and radical change if we are to

COVID-19 is also putting a stamp on emerging trends centered around high-tech and low- touch experiences. Many such areas will become standard for all hotels in the near term. Brands, operators, and owners must be ready to adapt to these high costs to mitigate the current challenges for at least the next 36 months. Six months ago, none of us could have predicted that we were all going to have to completely re-think the way in which we operate on a daily basis. As guests start returning to hotels, how do we ensure that they receive the same amazing experience, without needing to interact with the staff or other guests?

COVID-19 is also putting a stamp on emerging trends centered around hightech and low- touch experiences. Many such areas will become standard for all hotels in the near term. Brands, operators, and owners must be ready to adapt to these high costs to mitigate the current challenges for at least the next 36 months. One possible solution is Vamoos, the new app for hotels, which enables hotels to provide a completely contactless, safe experience for everyone, without compromising on the service they intend to provide. Every business right now is saying, ‘if we don’t embrace change, we die,’” says Management and Leadership Professor Abbie Shipp at Texas Christian University in a recent interview. But change management is different than change leadership. “Change management talks about, ‘What do we want to do? What’s the structure and the strategy?’ Change

leadership asks, ‘What are people capable of? What are they interested in? What are they passionate about?’ Instead of focusing on what to do, you focus on who’s doing it and how they’re doing it.” Industry leaders must learn and quickly adapt to these safety protocols. People are an important part of the change process. In a crisis, Dr. Shipp says the first thing to do is check on your people to cultivate an employee-first culture. To get an idea on how the world is dealing with this global pandemic, the World Tourism Council published a study citing examples, and predictions on countries and even regions that will survive and the ones that will be forced to shut down permanently. Finally, as the title of the article suggests, this is a global calling, and any attempt by brands, operators or the owners to procrastinate on the urgent need for action for the hospitality industry means, the game is over. We must start serious dialogues on “adaptability in any environment”. This could mean providing experiences that are memorable for guests, however, it must begin with our guests thoroughly

co-exist with COVID-19. This now has become a matter of survival, and not about any corporate governance, in fact the opposite of such care and attention may be viewed as corporate greed. Profitability and ROI discussions are no longer valid topic in global boardrooms, at least not in the near term, or till the industry and our health care experts have a clear understanding of this new friend of ours called COVID-19.

understanding what we are doing to protect them and we must then be able to show them, provide the evidence of such an effort on behalf of our stakeholders. In today’s environment, the essence of hospitality means; minimal or no human interaction, high tech/ low-touch, and safety and cleanliness protocol that are verifiable and addresses the safety and protection of the very people who are safeguarding us. We cannot forget the frontline workers around the globe who are compromising their own safety and the medical professionals who have been working nonstop to come up with a

vaccine to protect us. Above all, we need more love and compassion to deal with these turbulent times, so go ahead, get involved. Help someone, save a life, save a community that is hit hard from this devastating pandemic, and feel proud that your legacy will live for the world to remember you by. Let’s just all try to get along, with no regard for race, religion, political affiliation, national origin or social or economic status; because this pandemic is totally blind, and its time we reach across the isle and extend our love and create a new world order that is inclusive and fair for all to coexist.

INTERVIEW WITH:

EMILIO ANTONIO GUEVARA (EAG) PGMAG: Emilio, great to have you on today's interview. EAG: Thank you Lady Anita. I really appreciate you having me. I really admire the work you are doing with Powerhouse Global Magazine and I am honored to be featured in this amazing magazine. PGMAG: Please introduce yourself to our readers. EAG: My name is Emilio Antonio Guevara. I was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in the Bronx, NY to parents Rosa and Mariano Guevara that emigrated to the United States of America from Honduras, CA. I come from a family of seven. I am a family man, a husband to my beautiful wife Kimyada Guevara and a grateful father to my precious daughter Enyada Lynette Guevara. I live by three principles. One making sure that my spirit is right, two that my intentions are always pure and last not least, three gratitude. I believe gratitude is the one principle that regardless of what is going on in your life keeps you centered. I am a motivated, ambitious and driven entrepreneur. I have 35 years of diverse career experience combined in the entrepreneurial, private sectors and B2B environments. Above all things I am a servant leader.

10 JANUARY 2021

Emilio Antonio Guevara is the President and CEO of Capitalists Conversations, Inc. Over the past 25 years I have had the opportunity to follow my dreams and take on entrepreneurial challenges and work with some amazing people along my journey. My personal mission is to help others embrace and participate in the free enterprise system to innovate and create by using the greatest gift that I believe God gave man, the gift of imagination.

EAG: Although I grew up in a low-income community decimated by poverty, having parents that taught me and my siblings that the environment surrounding us did not define us. They taught us that we might be living in the environment, but our environment doesn’t have to live in us. It conditioned me mentally to not be afraid to pursue my goals. I was grateful that my parents sacrificed much to come to the United States of America for us to be born here and have a better life. I took that very seriously and it inspired me to want to be the best I could possibly be. Until this day, it still inspires me. I felt like it was also a freedom license to take a chance on myself. In the sense that I could have been born in more undesirable circumstances and since I was blessed to be born here what do I have to lose. I was also inspired by mentors that

My personal mission is to help others embrace and participate in the free enterprise system to innovate and create by using the greatest gift that I believe God gave man, the gift of imagination. poured into me and nurtured me. I did not go to college, so I spent many hours reading business books. I read and studied many autobiographies and biographies of successful business leaders. There is so much you can learn from studying the stories of those that have come before you and have encapsulated what it takes to make it in just a few pages. One of my mentors SB Fuller said that “There is a spark of divinity in every human being, but it is up to that individual to fan it. I believe fanning that spark, means being determined, working hard and staying focused on your goals and never giving up. PGMAG: What are some of the keys to promoting Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace?

EAG: I grew up in the City of New York and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in the Bronx. One of the things growing up in the City of New York was that you went to school with people from different races and ethnicities. New York has always been known as a Melting Pot. This allowed me to develop an appreciation for interacting and working with all people. Unfortunately, many in the position of leadership may not have had that experience and so they operate from a standpoint of what feels comfortable. Perceptions are real. I believe that leaders at all levels of an organization must make a commitment to question their perceptions in order to hire or promote the best talent. The key to Promoting Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace starts with each leader, each one of us individually doing some self-introspection. The culture, ethics and values of any organization from top to bottom are a direct reflection of the leader at the top. One of the things that my mentor taught me about leadership is that you take yourself wherever you go.

PGMAG: Coming from a humble background and working your way up to becoming one of the leading leaders in the industry of change makers, what inspired you to change your circumstances and become the leader that you are today.

www.powerhouseglobalmag.com

PGMAG: Change is sometimes the hardest thing to embrace by most people. In your capacity as a leader, what is the one crucial change that needs to happen in order to become more valuable in the marketplace? EAG: Change is something that is difficult for most people to embrace. However, change is inevitable. In the world we live in, change is constant. The one crucial change that needs to happen to become more valuable in the marketplace is to understand that learning and preparation do not end after you have graduated from high school, college, graduate school or if you are

an entrepreneur after you launch your business. As a matter of fact, real learning starts after that. To stay ahead take the INITIATIVE to be an expert in your industry. That means you keep studying. You have to research and search opportunities to continuously develop yourself. Be mindful of what the changes are in your industry. Whether you are an employee or an entrepreneur providing goods and services, constantly continue to educate yourself. Be it through books, certifications, mentors etc. If you are in a dying industry, re-educate yourself in another emerging industry. I know it sounds like work, well it is. The only people that will

survive and thrive in this new environment are those that can adapt. Staying informed and educated on the latest trends will give you the self-esteem, self-worth and confidence to remain competitive and succeed. PGMAG: If you knew what you know now, what would you do differently? EAG: I find that to always be an interesting question because it juxtaposes that perhaps your journey would have been “more something than it what it turned out to be. To be completely honest with you I am person who believes that your journey is as individual

PGMAG: Please tell us about your organisation (Capitalist Conversations, Inc). EAG: As an entrepreneur, I strongly believe imagination is the greatest gift and the greatest power that we possess as human beings. You do not have to ask permission of anyone to use it. I believe that is the essence of freedom. Capitalism is the only “ism that allows you the freedom to execute on your imagination. This belief is what inspired me to start this business. Capitalists Conversations, Inc. is a media organization devoted to espousing the virtues of capitalism by providing entrepreneurs and business leaders the opportunity to have two-way dialogue with businessmen and businesswomen that have succeeded in business. We do this via LIVE events

in an intimate setting, future podcasts, online virtual events and an upcoming Business Show in 2021. We believe that having access to successful individuals in business that encompass a wide array of experiences in various industries and wisdom gained along their journey as they used the free enterprise system to achieve their dreams in businesses, will give attendees and followers a necessary edge and a greater chance to be successful.

be patient and do not allow yourself to be stressed out. Secondly, comparing yourself to others makes it a race you will never win. It leads to a counterproductive feeling of inadequacy. Being inspired by others and running your own race with patience takes the stress out of the equation and allows you to enjoy the journey. Third, try hard to live a balanced life. Family and friends are very important in your life. Make the time. Where there is a will, there is always a way.

PGMAG: What are the three books that changed your life?

PGMAG: Thank you very much your time.

EAG: There are many books that influenced me in my life. However, there are 3 books that made a tremendous difference in my life. Secret of the Ages by Robert Collier, Riches Within Your Reach by Robert Collier and Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.

EAG: Thank you Lady Anita. The pleasure was mine.

PGMAG: Finally, what would you say to your younger self? EAG: First, when you make the decision to take chances, understand that comes with failure as well as success. But understand that failure is just like a storm, it does not matter how powerful the storm is, at some point it will dissipate. So

to you as your fingerprint. My journey has taken me on many roads and bridges, successes and failures and brought me where I am, and I am grateful for all of it. MIRA WARSZAWSKI (MW) PGMAG: Mira, you are welcome to today's interview with Lady Anita. MW: It is an enormous pleasure to be interviewed by you Lady Anita and thank you for this privilege. PGMAG: You are one woman with an incredible story. Please introduce yourself to our readers. MW: My name is Mira and I am a nurse, entrepreneur, author, student of coaching at Jay Shetty Certification School and I live in the West of London. I am a wife to my husband, Kris, a mother to my daughter, Klaudia, a grandmother to my grandaughter, Gaia, a sister to my brothers Anton and Dariusz, and a daughter to my beloved mum, Janina. I have been a member of Voices of Joy - A living book featured on Youtube and a board member of the I Care Children Foundation and ambassador of peace appointed by the World Institute for Peace in Nigeria. . Humanitarian work is also at the core of my existence. I am also the co-author of Voices of Hope by Brenda Dempsey. I'm very passionate about writing and helping others. My next project will be a book collaboration - Rainbow Letters to Mother Earth by Chrisola Sirigou, a response to the planet in Crisis caused by climate change and rising mental health issues. The aim of this project will be to help 100 young people aged 5-19 become published authors in 2021.

PGMAG: Our research shows that at age of 39, you took a life-changing decision. Today you are a success story. What is your message for those who are afraid to step out of their comfort zone. MW: Figure out what it is that your heart sings about. Our life is full of distractions and we are exposed to different kinds of news every single day. It might be difficult at times to hear our thoughts. Try to make a space for that inner calling to get through. Meditation is a great way to quiet our mind and to hear our thoughts, feel our feelings, and read the messages that the Universe is sending to us. Surrender and trust in that support, while staying loyal to yourself and your dreams. Give yourself permission to do what your heart sings about.

MW: I stand up for gratitude, love, peace, and kindness as great fillers of the wheel of life that should guide this world in a better direction. Humankind is at the beginning of a new era, with another human being at the heart of everything we do. The positive change is possible as long as we serve others from the position of an open and non-judgemental heart. A kind word and a smile does not cost a penny and can make such a difference to other people's lives. We do not walk in their shoes but we can make their journey easier or more bearable by the way we treat them. There is no peace without kindness. PGMAG: When you decided to move to UK - Not knowing what the future holds for you, what was your driving force to keep moving forward. MW: My family is my biggest WHY. My calling is to serve my family and others, utilizing all my skills and gifts. I left Poland as a single mum of my

teenage daughter, Klaudia. Making a better life for her was my driving force. I was also curious to see what the big world can offer to me, and how this may feel to break free from the stereotype of narrow and parochial thinking, the way I was brought up in a catholic Poland. I wanted to see life out of that box, and its true colors, making connections with people from all over the world. PGMAG: Please tell us about your new book and how it could benefit our readers.

Figure out what it is that your heart sings about. Our life is full of distractions and we are exposed to different kinds of news every single day. It might be difficult at times to hear our thoughts. Try to make a space for that inner calling to get through.

This book has achieved the status of number 1 Amazon bestseller in the UK, USA, and Canada. PGMAG: If you knew what you know now, what would you do differently. MW: I would have taken the risk to explore the life possibilities with greater courage and faith, believing in the process, whilst paying attention to my gut feelings. First and foremost, I would have loved myself more as self-awareness and self-love is a very important aspect of commencing on the journey to our dreams. PGMAG: What are some of the lessons you have gotten from the year 2020. MW: The biggest lesson I have got from the year 2020 is to remain open to blessings that come from being grateful for everything that we have in our

life. Those blessings can be presented to us in the form of ideas, possibilities, good health, and people that appear on our life pathway. When I was sick with COVID-19 I had found comfort in meditation and prayer. The connection with the Universe has helped me to go through. This year has shown me the power of integrity that comes from the united hearts and open minds. We can allow the fear to take over our life, feelings, and the way we think or we can do whatever it takes to acquire a courageous heart and be the change-makers. PGMAG: What would you say to your younger self.

MW: Believe in yourself, when you believe in yourself, miracles happen. PGMAG: Mira, it has been an absolute pleasure to have served you today. I wish you more success in your future endeavors. MW: Thank you so much Lady Anita for having me, you truly are a change maker, it is a pleasure to follow in your footsteps, you are such an inspiration to me, and most definitely others around you. And I do that. Not only because I understand the business part of being a business lawyer and consultant. BUT because I am a business owner too. And that allows me to go the extra-mile, to get the perspective, the nuance that can make the difference. It’s about making the invisible visible, so you can protect your business and your assets. I’m also a Keynote Speaker and Global Brain Activation Strategist™. And I’ve had the pleasure of being featured as one of the Global Thought Leaders in the documentary movie "How Thoughts Become

Things", sequel to the hit movie The Secret, alongside many big names from The Secret’s original cast. I’ve been featured in multiple media outlets and am sharing stages with world class speakers such as Sharon Lechter, Jack Canfield and Les Brown. PGMAG: When you began your journey as a lawyer over 21 years ago, knowing how challenging it must have been to deliver the expectations of the people. What were your driving force behind your success story?

DMB: Wow! That was longtime ago and yet it feels like yesterday. First of all, I want to say that I’m very blessed and grateful to my parents for the way they have brought me up. See. I come from a family of lawyers by tradition on my father’s side. For us the law, the knowledge of the laws, has always been a means to improve other people’s lives. For us it’s always been about doing the right thing. No matter what. That’s what I was taught by my father, by my parents, since I was a little child.

If you really want to make a difference in your clients’ businesses, if you want to give them effective support, being “just” a lawyer, being “just” a consultant, is not enough. You need to understand the business. You need to understand how the business works.

www.powerhouseglobalmag.com

And I want to emphasise this because yes, it’s true there are a lot of lawyers out there that are sharks. But there are also a few of them who really want to make a difference. As I said before. Not all lawyers are equal. I’ve always had two drivers in my life: intellectual curiosity and the burning desire to make a difference. Whatever I do. That’s what brought me to work on a project with the United Nations in New York City when I was still in law school. More recently, those same drivers brought me to be one of the Thought Leaders in

How Thoughts Become Things, the movie sequel to The Secret. PGMAG: What were some of the changes you had to make in order to stay centred in helping more businesses to thrive in this globally challenged time (Covid-19)? DMB: 2020 has brought challenges that many of us were not equipped to deal with. Levels of stress, anxiety and all sort of struggles went over the roof; and my guess is we’re not over all of that yet. That pushed me to come forward and incorporate my

It’s not just mindset I’m talking about. It’s beyond that. Mindset it is important, absolutely! And it’s becoming more and more important. And the more people struggle the more they get into mindset trainings. Which is the issue and the cure at once, but it’s more like a band aid than a long-lasting solution. Why? Because it doesn’t solve the problem. I know, it sounds like a paradox. And it is. In a way. Here’s the thing: why do we struggle so much with mindset work? Why are people becoming obsessed with that? That’s because they’re not connected to their inner power, to their true identity, to their true nature. Because if they were, they wouldn’t need to work so hard on mindset. Things would be easier, and straightforward. With my work I help my clients bridge and close that gap, I help them connect with their true energetic nature, to tap into their energetic DNA, so they don’t have to work hard on

their mindset, they don’t have to struggle. They just need to tune into their true nature and be congruent to that, be coherent to that. And this is a very important piece of what I teach them: leverage that, their energetic identity, and implement it in their daily life. With practical steps. In a pragmatic way. In their business, in their personal life, in their relationships. Game changer. PGMAG: In our recent conversation, we spoke about ‘mindfulness' and how this skill can help more leaders to create balance amidst the global crisis (Covid-19). Could you please touch more light on this subject? DMB: Yes. That’s so true. Many of us are still on that hamster wheel and seem not to be able to get off. It can be counterintuitive, but the thing is they are still stuck in the doing, with the doing. And keep running around, all over the place to get things done. Most of the time in autopilot. I’m asking our readers: how many of you remember what you had for breakfast this morning? And what was the taste of it? Or what you’ve been thinking the whole day?

We are BEINGS. But most of us have lost the connection with their “being” part and focus on their “doing” only. Now, the only way to break this nonsensical rat race, to get off that hamster wheel is to reconnect to your BEING, your true nature. As uncomfortable as that could be. And for many of us, it is uncomfortable and scary and stressful that’s why this global situation, this crisis is such a struggle. But here’s the thing: connecting to your BEING, to your true nature, is the only way out. One of the best ways to start becoming more mindful and connected to your being is via your breath. It’s very powerful and one of the main strategies I teach on day one. Find a quiet place, sit down comfortably, disconnect from all type of distractions, close your eyes, if you can, and focus on your breath. Don’t emphasise it. Just focus on your natural breath, the movement of your body when you breathe. Feel it. Be there. Be your breath. You can do it for few minutes. The longer the better, but just few minutes can make a difference.

my body. All of the signals I was getting. I ignored them all. So, the key is: don’t ignore the signals; don’t ignore the symptoms. Low energy, tiredness, lack of sleep, overwhelm are the obvious ones.

DMB: That happens to a lot of us. We stretch ourselves beyond the limits and then it bites us back and we need to deal with it.

Besides the obvious ones: there’s a reason if something doesn’t feel right or if you don’t enjoy anymore what you used to enjoy.

Mine wasn’t a burnout, it was my immune system that got shut. Why that happened? Because, although I was tuned into my intuition, I was not listening to it. I did not listen to

DMB: With pleasure. I use the powerful combination

of business law and deep energy work, to help my clients protect their business and support their growth. Not only from a legal and structural business perspective, but also energetically. I don’t believe in the “one size fits all” type of solution. It’s an illusion. Because each business, like each individual, is unique. Therefore, what works for me doesn’t necessarily works for you, or for anybody else. This is because each one of us has their own unique energetic DNA – I’ve talked a bit about this throughout the interview. And your own energetic DNA

is your business DNA too, because, energetically speaking, your business is an extension of you. I know this is a lot of information, but it’s crucial: "your business needs to be coherent to your energetic DNA to blossom and create abundance." This involves your business set-up, products, selling strategies, marketing strategies, protection strategies, teams and collaborators, customers and prospects, partners to name a few. And get the right support because you’re not going to get there on your own, without the right guidance. PGMAG: Thank you once again for your time. We wish you success on your journey. INTERVIEW WITH:

DR. BISHNU MAYA PARIYAR (DBMP) PGMAG: Dr. Bishnu, you are welcome to today's interview. DBMP: Thank you for having me. PGMAG: Please briefly introduce yourself to our readers. DBMP: My name is Bishnu Maya Pariyar. I am the Founding President and Chief Patron of Association of Dalit Women’s Advancement of Nepal (ADWAN). ADWAN enables rural Dalit women repressed by their caste and gender to claim their rights and live in dignity. Our mission addresses the root causes of gender and castebased discrimination by organizing women from different castes, building solidarity, and offering access to training and savings and loan activities. ADWAN's bottom-up approach directly focuses on the UN Sustainable Development Goals of women's empowerment, gender equality, poverty reduction and universal education. I also served as the Advisory Member of Diversity and Inclusion Board of Mayor Steven M. Fulop of Jersey City, New Jersey, United States. I am also Emissary of Sister City between City of Jersey City and Nepal’s Indrawati Rural Municipality. PGMAG: As a well celebrated leader with over 40 National and International awards, what is your driving force to keep making a difference in the world?

26 JANUARY 2021

DBMP: I belong to a Dalit caste family in Nepal. Dalits are still treated as untouchable people which is inhuman and against the law. I faced intense discrimination and prejudice when I was growing up. Once I asked my dad why I am different than other children? My dad used telling me you need to educate and fight against this inhuman system. Yes, the love of my family always solaced me and helped me to fight against most inhumane discrimination. Had my dad not supported me and all other sisters, we would not have been so much successful in life despite all the hardships that life posed on us. My dad gave me courage and zeal to fight against this discrimination when I was growing up, during all the stages of my life. Inhumane discrimination shattered my concept of humanity. However, the words of my dad had left an indelible impression on my mind. All

PGMAG: As a dedicated professional, what are some of the measures needed to ensure the safety of children and their families? DBMP: Women must have access to the police to file a criminal report and receive legal advice and protection orders. The response to violence must be immediate, coordinated, and effective so that crimes are punished, and justice is secured. There can be no lasting peace when women suffer sexual violence. Courts and the justice system must be accessible and responsive to criminal and civil matters relating to violence against women. Women must be informed of their legal rights and supported to navigate the legal system. And for this, we need more women police officers,

prosecutors, and judges, because we know that women serving on the frontlines of justice strengthen justice for women and children. PGMAG: How would you describe your style of leadership? DBMP: A great leader possess a clear vision, is courageous, has integrity, honesty, humility and clear focus. Great leaders help people to reach their goals. In my whole life I have been empowering others to stand for themselves. PGMAG: How do you create balance amidst all your hardwork? DBMP: Balancing my time is always my great challenge. There is always so much to do. I used to be burned out and if I do not accomplish what I am supposed to do, I would feel so guilty. My husband always tells me that he would never go to vacation with me as I was not enjoying. But now I crossed 40 already and I began to realize that I need to think of my health and wellbeing. I started doing yoga, walking when I have time. I think it is so important taking a break from work to maintaining a quality of life.

DBMP: Beside volunteering for ADWAN, I work as a Coordinator at Hudson Speaks against Sexual Violence program. My job is advocating for the survivors and victims of domestic and sexual violence. The project is called Bolo Behen (Speak Sister) which is for South Asian American women and their families. We create a safe space with a full range of culturally-sensitive,

language-specific information, support, services and advocacy for women living in Hudson County who are experiencing domestic and sexual violence. The project also strives to start a dialogue about issues of violence within the community and works with a wide variety of groups, organizations, and individuals. The project focuses on engaging the women exposing them to a myriad of services to better their mental, emotional and physical needs. Through the establishment of community partnerships, the Project offers women help, support and guidance through their sexual trauma and in all areas of their lives. Our hope is that all South Asian American women who have been affected by domestic and sexual violence will know that there is support available to heal their pain and suffering. I also conduct Culturally Sensitivity Training for police, detectives, prosecutors, lawyers and people from different government agencies. PGMAG: How can people be protected from such violation of human rights? DBMP: Human rights violations pose serious consequences for current and future generations. The effects of

28 JANUARY 2021

violence can remain with individuals for a lifetime and can pass from one generation to another. To protect people from human right abuse, international law should be fully implemented, and people should be empowered so they can understand legal system against human rights abuse. Laws, policies and programs should focus for the vulnerable populations who are at highest risk of abuse and violence. For an effective response to this violence, different sectors in

society must work together. PGMAG: Women are often denied the opportunity to take on key positions in some organisations. What could be done to bridge the gap? DBMP: We need to empower ourselves and empower other women, young and aspiring girls. Women need to work together to create the solidarity to fight for gender equality. If we persist change is always possible. The society should know that without women’s meaningful and shared participation there wouldn’t be equitable society. PGMAG: Finally, what would you say to your younger self? DBMP: To be successful, we

need to set goals in our lives. I encourage each and everyone to keep setting goals. I know the power that this simple act can have. The great thing about goals when you have them, the path sometimes reveals itself. Never stop listening and never stop learning. Learn, pivot, grow, challenge yourself, and only do it if you are fulfilled in being a part of bringing about change. Don’t be afraid of change. And have fun. And last but not least, take care of yourself. make sure to have a good work-life balance and protect your mental health. Surround yourself with a good support network of people you trust, people that believe in you and want to help you succeed. Finally, don’t be afraid to ask for help from the people around you.

INTERVIEW WITH:

HÅKON RIAN UELAND (HR) PGMAG: Håkon, so good to have you on today's interview with Lady Anita. HR: I am deeply honoured to be given the opportunity, Lady Anita. Thank you very much! PGMAG: Please introduce yourself to our audience. HR: My most important role is being the protector of children and others who don’t have a voice. I do that by being a spiritual and corporate coach, a healer, and an optimizer of systems and organizations. I am a pilgrim, a Dr. of Divinity and an artist. I have worked in social services for 20-something years, since 2008 as a Child Welfare Worker. Though I am a monk of my own denomination now, I was married for 25 years, and I have three children who are the motivation of my life. “Darkness” became too much of a force in my life. So, in 2018 I left my job, and started travelling where the wind took me. I am certified in Tsa Lung (Tibetan energy healing) and Holistic Healing, and I knew where I was needed. Right now, I live in the small town of Ed in Sweden, where I have rented a small house for my dog and me. PGMAG: Being a 'Monk' must be a higher level of Spiritual Awakening. What are some of the steps needed to reconnect with one's higher self?

30 JANUARY 2021

HR: I don’t perceive myself as being spiritually “awakened”. I am just doing my thing. But I have had some moments when I have felt connected with my Truth. We are all on our own paths. In general, I think reconnecting is about listening to the silence. Your own, integral truth. Not the one you find in the words of some pastor, guru – or monk, for that matter – but the one we all own a piece of. The core of the greeting “namaste” – “The Divine bows to the Divine in You”. I guess I should expand a bit on that. Because “silence” seems to imply sitting in a cave for years, eating rice and meditating constantly. To me personally, silence can be found in tiny moments. Looking deep into the eyes

of a new-born baby. Fighttraining with my dog (I have a Malinois, Trollheads Nessi, who was trained as a K9 with her previous family). If I don’t find my zone of silence when training her, she may hurt me. And … when singing. When I reach my true voice and sing without thought. What I think has been most powerful for my own development, is to constantly ask “why”. I have written some articles on LinkedIn where I explore this from various angles. PGMAG: There are reports of an increase in the number of people who are struggling to cope with the current global challenge (covid-19). As a healer, what is your message for those in the abovementioned situation? HR: Yes. Many are struggling. Suicide is on the rise. I predict that the pressure on mental healthcare will continue to rise, and likewise, child welfare and social welfare offices will feel the pressure. Unless we start making decisions based on love, not fear. Fear is the mind killer. Its consequences are more lethal than Covid-19. And fear sells,

so mass-media uses this to get clicks and views. What I believe is most important is to accept all your feelings. If you feel fearful or sad or happy or ecstatic – embrace it. Cherish it. Enter the feeling. At the same time – reject whatever emotions others are trying to project onto you. Such as fear. You can’t “feel wrong”. You can act with wrong intent, though. If you hate someone, being honest about it may be good. Especially to yourself.

We are all on our own paths. In general, I think reconnecting is about listening to the silence. Your own, integral truth. But hurting them intentionally, unless you are defending a “weak party”, that is something to avoid. I am not only talking about acceptance, but also releasing your emotions. If you feel sad at the state of the world – cry. Tears wash your soul. If you feel love – express it. Unrequited love? Sing it out. Write a poem. Hug your dog or cat. And if you feel suicidal – wait one minute. Then repeat. And reach out for help. If you search for “mAncient” on YouTube, you will find some videos that expand on this. You can also reach out for me if you need support. One final thing … sing. Sing your pain, sing your love, sing your dreams, sing your joy. PGMAG: Please tell us about ‘mAncient’. HR: I needed an artist name in 2017. And so, I decided that combining Man and Ancient would work. I have a motto, supposedly said by Seneca; “Homo sum humani a me nihil alienum puto” - “I am human. Nothing human is strange to me.”

32 JANUARY 2021

So, the Ancient part of my name came naturally, as did “man”. PGMAG: If you knew what you know now, what would you do differently? HR: I could’ve lightened up a little bit. Been a little less rigid and bombastic. But … I have walked the path that was laid out before me, and sometimes, it has been quite narrow and steep. I have made seasoned therapists cry by sharing moments from my life. I rarely do that anymore. Share, that is. PGMAG: Please tell us about your music. HR: My first album, Livet er (Norwegian for “Life Is”), is a singer-songwriter album. Each of the songs have a story behind them. Currently, I work with electronica in my own, personal style. “Earth House”, inspired by “Earth Song” by Michael Jackson. I would like to share the story behind “MK I”. I was working in an institution, which was considered the most

challenging institution in the field. It was like a bootcamp – when a child welfare-office somewhere in Norway didn’t know what to do with a child, they were sent there, for a stay of three months, and then they travelled on to other institutions or foster-homes. I met a young boy. We spent 15 hours together on his first day, where he shared pieces of his life. Our meeting started with him screaming “I will kill you” to my face. The experiences he shared were so horrible, the darkness he had faced, both in himself and in others, so encompassing, that when I went to bed, I knew I could not sleep. I felt as if I had swallowed a black hole.

Now, I create healing music. And I sing, often worship, on the karaoke apps Smule and StarMaker. My current favourite is “The Blessing” by Kari Jobe. PGMAG: What is your message for world leaders? HR: I realise that the current situation is scary. You are facing a new situation, where it seems that changes happen every day. And you know that history will judge you based on your decisions. Commonly, we speak of two reactions when faced with fear. Fight or flight. But there is a third option. “Love”. Embrace the possibilities for change that this situation is giving us. The compassion that is sweeping the globe. The potential for creating a new normal that will bring forth the best of mankind. If you need a consult – reach out to me. Don’t play on fear. Our world has never been better. Less wars, more humanitarian work, more compassion. Accentuate the good.

Allow all churches, synagogues, temples and mosques – all places of worship – to be open 24/7. Give people a place to be quiet with their faith, staffed with people to talk with if they wish.

questions, because some fears are beneficial. Avoiding a rattle snake is a survival tactic, not cowardice.

And, most important: Start asking “Who, What, Why?”. The systems we have set up – are they meant to serve the people? Or the system itself? Your work – does it serve your own needs? Or the people?

HR: Questions are the key to understanding. Though I would not change one single step on the long and winding road I have followed, I would have started asking myself three questions earlier in life. Summarised in “Who, what, why?”. • Who am I? • What am I doing with my life? • Why am I doing it?

And religious leaders… Please stop turning sexuality into something ugly. It is a sacred gift from God. Don’t forget that we are all equal under the eyes of our Lord. And there is nothing more sacred than the union of two people in a symbiotic, balanced relationship. PGMAG: What are some steps to conquering fear? HR: In Norway, we have a lot of trolls. They live in our history. And, the fascinating thing about trolls is that they turn to stone if hit by the sun. Same with fear. If you face your fear honestly, it tends to dissolve.

PGMAG: Finally, what would you say to your younger self?

STEPHANIE GEORGIOUS (SG) PGMAG: Stephanie, you are welcome to today's interview with Lady Anita. SG: Hello Lady Anita! I would like to thank you for the invitation and for the opportunity you are giving me to introduce myself to your audience. I’m really glad to be with you and present myself today! PGMAG: Please introduce yourself to our readers. SG: I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Limassol in the island of Cyprus, and I am a Certified Professional Coach with specialization in life coaching, relationship coaching and leadership coaching mostly for teenagers and young adults. I am also a theta healing practitioner, writer and entrepreneur. I have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Finance and a master’s degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the University of Warwick in UK. At the moment, concurrently with my life coaching business, I am also working in my family business which operates in the Cypriot HORECA sector. Despite my business background, since my teenage years I always remember myself being into personal development studying various books, attending seminars, listening to motivational talks and generally doing everything I could in order to find out the real purpose of life, as well as ways by which people could be more happy, optimistic and faithful.

34 JANUARY 2021

Nevertheless, after going through a dark period of depression at the age of 21, I promised myself that I would never allow any teenage kid or young adult to go through what I went through. All kids of that age deserve to live in a world full of happiness, love and light where they could create their own reality and reach for their dreams without depending on the opinions of others. Today, I am on a mission to create this world as I am a co-creator of “New Generation New World”, a group dedicated to people of the younger generation with the purpose to create a better, more faithful and promising world

PGMAG: As a certified professional coach, what would you suggest for people who are struggling with low self-esteem? SG: Nowadays a large number of the population faces problems of low selfesteem, and the real reason behind this is that most of us grow up in families which are dysfunctional. This means that our parents or guardians do not really know how to treat us when we are kids. Therefore, they may end up criticizing us, being very strict with us or even encouraging us to compare ourselves with others. Hence, this may lead us to believe that we are not good enough, we are not smart enough, we are not beautiful enough and in overall that we are NOT enough. A very helpful and practical exercise that I have used in the past and I continue to use both for myself as well as suggesting it to my clients, is to write on the mirror or somewhere they could see many times during the day the words “I am Enough”. This exercise was firstly suggested by Marisa Peer, a world-

renowned speaker, therapist and best-selling author and the aim of this is to see these three words regularly and repeat them to themselves while looking directly into their eyes in the mirror. This is very effective especially if they keep repeating it for 30 days and they will notice that their selfworth will expand. It may sound simple, but it is worth a try! PGMAG: Oftentimes you hear people talk about not getting anywhere with their resolutions. What are some of the keys to achieving success on set goals - Especially in these challenging times?

- Why is this goal important for me? - What is the deadline I can set for the accomplishment of this goal? It is useful to have in your mind that in case something changes from the moment you write down the goals until the deadline, you should be ready to modify them if necessary, by taking into account the changes that have occurred. Even though the pandemic has totally changed our way of life, it is important to remember that we are still in the driver’s seat and by setting our goals correctly, we can succeed in driving our life towards the direction that we want. PGMAG: Please share with us a bit about 'Theta Healing'. SG: Theta Healing was created in 1995 by Vianna Stibal when she was recovering from cancer. It is a healing method which uses the theta waves of the brain in order to help you relax on a deeper level and be able to access your creative mind and intuition, while establishing a connection with the Creator of all that it is. With the help of Theta Healing, you can achieve to get rid of limiting beliefs, emotional blockages and traumas that may keep you back from living to your

full potential. At the same time, it can assist you in becoming aware of your inner state of mind and realizing that absolutely everything that happens in your life has its purpose. By having this in mind, you are able to get answers to questions about your life and the direction of it while manifesting your deepest desires and dreams. I consider Theta Healing as a valuable tool that should be used by everyone. PGMAG: What is your message for our youth? SG: My message for the youth is for them to like and love themselves, to have faith in themselves and to believe that they are capable of achieving absolutely anything they set their mind to. In addition, this generation more than any other generation so far needs to believe in the pursuit of their dreams, because it is impossible to happily live without having and keep creating dreams

and young people need to understand that no matter how big their dreams are, they can eventually come true if they have the guts to go after them, because “Life holds special magic for those who dare to dream”. PGMAG: How would you describe your style of leadership? SG: I am an authentic type of leader as I always choose to lead with my heart. This is because I am a highly empathetic person and I never do something that is against the will of my heart. In some cases, this may be hard and painful, but I know that it is worth it because it guides me

PGMAG: Please tell us about your business and the benefits of using your services. SG: As I have previously said, I mostly specialize on guiding teenagers and young adults through one-to-one personal coaching or theta healing sessions to go through a journey of discovering their true authentic self while learning to accept and love themselves. In this way, they recognize that there are no limits in what they are capable

of achieving and that they already have inside them all the answers and the tools needed in order to become the powerful and inspiring leaders that our world needs. This is achieved through the creation of a safe place where they are able to open-up and express themselves freely without fear of judgement. PGMAG: If you knew what you know now, what would you do differently? SG: If I knew what I know now, I wouldn’t have done anything differently. I believe that every experience that we go through in our life shapes us in either a positive or negative way, depending on how we choose to act at that specific moment of our life. In my case, even though my life was not paved in rose petals, I’m really grateful for what I have accomplished up to now, to the people who have stood by me and believed in me during my challenging times and I’m proud for the person I have become today, so I would have changed nothing in my life journey so far. PGMAG: Finally, what would you say to your younger self? SG: I would say to her to believe and have faith in herself

and in her abilities, to have and keep creating dreams because dreams act as the engine that pushes her forward towards reaching her full potential. Finally, I would say to her to take as many risks possible, to fall and stand back on her knees as many times as she can because this is the only way to grow and become the person that she has always imagined. There is also a famous quote regarding this which says, “A ship is safe in harbor, but that’s not what ships are built for”. PGMAG: Thank you for your time and we wish you success in your field of purpose. SG: Thank you too for the invitation and the warm hospitality and I wish you all the best and every success for the new year, always with health, love and light! to make the more truthful and evolving decisions both for myself as well as for the people I cooperate with. In addition, I am always open to discuss and respect the views of other people, whilst having the courage to admit my mistakes and apologize if needed. I believe that each person is unique in their own beautiful way with their own capabilities, talents and charisma and I want my coaches and the people I cooperate with to know that I am not here to criticize them or tell them what they “should” or not do. On the contrary I am here to hold their hands through this process of development and thrust them to reach their full potential while manifesting their own reality.

INTERVIEW WITH:

MONA TENJO (MT) PGMAG: Mona, good to have you on today's interview with Lady Anita. MT: Thank you very much for having me! PGMAG: How would you describe yourself as a leader? MT: I think I’d characterize myself as a tough but fair leader. I hold my team to the same high standards that I abide by myself but also keep it fair in terms of understanding what every person is able to achieve and contribute so the tasks are challenging but not unachievable. This way, my team is performing their best and constantly grows more resourceful. PGMAG: Please tell us a little bit about your business (Work On Your Business). MT: At Work On Your Business we support entrepreneurs and businesses to grow to the next level. Usually, our clients reach out when they hit a limit in their business. For example, either they grew very fast and their current systems cannot handle the new workload. Or they need to re-organize their team to make sure the next level can be managed. We also support in professionalizing the businesses further e.g. by introducing systems to automate processes or by improving the reporting to make sure you spend your time on the right things instead of just being busy.

38 JANUARY 2021

Mona Tenjo is the CEO of Work On Your Business, bestselling author and host of the show “Success By The Numbers”. PGMAG: You have worked with some of the top companies in the world - Especially in Germany. What are some of the keys to building a sustainable future in business? MT: I like to believe that it requires a lot more than people think when starting, however there are 3 keys that will be absolutely necessary for

Number 1: Strategy - I think one of the biggest mistakes many entrepreneurs make is to neglect the impact of strategy. While large companies like Siemens have entire departments thinking about the business strategy, small businesses or solo entrepreneurs think that they don’t “need” that or that there is no budget for that. However, what we see a lot with our clients is that many problems could have been prevented if somebody just had spent a few minutes thinking an endeavor through until the end. Everything you do in business needs to be aligned with your overall strategy. This makes it very easy when it comes to important decisions: Does it fit your strategy or not? Number 2: Focus - Too many people work without focus and therefore disperse their energy all over. If you try to be a jack of all trades, you will end up not going anywhere. You need to focus on one thing and finish it before you start with a new thing. And Number 3: Persistence – Too many people quit way too early. In business,

While large companies like Siemens have entire departments thinking about the business strategy, small businesses or solo entrepreneurs think that they don’t “need” that or that there is no budget for that. you need grit. If you only try once or twice, you will not be successful in the long run. Thomas Edison tried almost 9,000 trials to get the light bulb to market readiness. His employees would have stopped after trial 1,000. Luckily, Edison was persistent. PGMAG: In the current global challenge (covid-19), what are some of the steps business owners need to take in order to mitigate the impact of this challenge? MT: Most importantly, business owners need to understand, that their fate is in their own hands. It is 100% your own responsibility what you make out of this situation. You cannot change the environment, but you can adapt your actions. Too many people feel as victims that

have no choice. This is not true! We all have choices every day. Then you need to measure everything in your business: How are we doing? How long can we sustain as a business? How much cash at hand is available? What needs to be earned? What do we spend our money on? Which actions that we’ve tried worked? Which didn’t? What to focus our energy on? What haven’t we tried yet? Only what gets measured, can be improved. And finally, I would suggest every business owner to be as connected as possible to their customers. Find out what they need, what you can provide to them, how you can support them and what they worry about right now. Only when speaking to your customers, you can come up with new products that meet the market demand, pick the right language for marketing, and generate more sales. Also, your customers will never forget that you were there for them when they needed you the most! And never forget: It is significantly cheaper to upsell an existing client than to win a new one. Your existing customers already like and trust you. They already

success.

bought in the past. If you can offer them a solution for their problems, your future is much more save. PGMAG: One of your areas of expertise include: •Helping businesses to futureproof their growth •Implement sustainable processes and systems. Please touch light on the above listed, and tell us how more businesses can access these services. MT: “We don’t know what we don’t know”. That is a sentence, one of my mentors always says. And it is very true. Most businesses are not even aware of the systems that are available. I recently developed a process documentation for one of my clients. They do a lot of project management in each of their projects. But they never used any of the project management methodologies. When I showed them some of the standard material that I use, they were shocked to see how little they knew about all of this. So how can you futureproof your business? Never stop learning. Always be open to listen to advice. Get yourself

help. Assume that you don’t know everything. We offer our clients a business process assessment where we scrutinize all processes and systems and show improvement potentials in the business. When it comes to implementation of systems, you always have 2 choices: do it yourself or get in experts to do it for you. Many smaller businesses prefer the first option. However, most of the times, the internal costs are never considered. If you add up all the time you spend with implementing a system you have never implemented before (not even adding all the consequences of not really knowing what you do and maybe even having to correct something later) and you put a

price tag to your own worked hours, usually you will be 3-10x more expensive than if you had outsourced it. PGMAG: We always like to know what leaders are reading to stay relevant in the changing world. What are the top three books that changed your life? MT: 1) T. Harv Eker: The Secrets of a Millionaire Mind – this book really changed my view on the world when I was still an employee. I understood that there is another world out there. 2) Gary Keller: The One Thing – in my 20’s, this helped me understand that I don’t have to do everything at the same time and that focus is way more important than the effort you put into anything. 3) Robert B. Cialdini:

Influence – this booked changed my view on how to build sustainable long-term relationships in business and in life.

rather than wondering what would have been.

PGMAG: What is your message for world leaders?

MT: In “Success By The Numbers”, I share how to manage your business by the numbers. I explain the different key performance indicators you should keep an eye on and interview CEOs, industry experts and celebrities to learn from their business insights and experiences.

MT: Make sure that small companies are not left behind in this crisis. Small businesses often are the backbone of our economy. PGMAG: If you knew what you knew now, what would you do differently? MT: My past made me who I am today. I didn’t know what I know now, and I don’t know the things I will know tomorrow. Learning is a constant process that shapes us in many ways. I’d prefer to focus on what I can do today

PGMAG: Please tell us a little bit about your show.

PGMAG: Finally, what would you say to your younger self? MT: Trust in the process. Everything happens for a reason, even if that reason is not clear immediately.

PGMAG: Thank you very much for your time - Much appreciated. MT: Thank you so much for this interview! Great, thoughtful questions! PGMAG: Please share your links with us. Powerful Global Women Foundation (Powerhouse Charity) was founded in 20l6 in Nigeria, West Africa, by Lady Anita Duckworth-Bradshaw. The core objective of this organization is to transform the lives of women and children, through various projects centred around the need of the service group. In 20l6 Lady Anita single handedly fed over 400 children as part of “project feed l000 children globally”, and held an empowerment conference for the women. Through this project, so many women have gone to do great things with the knowledge they gained from the event. She recently held a life transforming event for women in Lagos, Nigeria as part of International women’s month celebration 20l8. The turnout was very encouraging. She is working towards supporting more families to keep their children and wards in school through” project back-to-school” starting in September 20l8. We are seeking for global support from individuals and organisations who would love to be a part of this service to humanity.
