PGMAG: As the Founder of Good Growth Coaching, what are some of the keys to living a fulfilled life? MT: All living organisms in the planet are programmed to seek the light. Biologically and mentally, human beings do that too; so, the answer to feel satisfied is filling your life with people and activities that represent light.

How can people become more valuable in the marketplace?

Find what you are really good at and be at service. The key is on bridging these two factors: the customer’s need, and your personal touch on the solution. Here are some aspects I consider important too: 1- Taking care of our body. This is the first responsibility we were given. We need to move it and feed it accordingly. 2- Aligning our dreams and goals with your core values. 3- Growing in understanding, awareness, and actions. 4- Allowing the help from a higher power to guide us. We do not need to know every single step, but we need to know that help is available for us in many forms. 5- Making a difference for good. Our dreams, to have the full weight and support of the universe must, in some way have some good in this dream for others. PGMAG: Looking at your bio, I see a woman with confidence and one who has strong strategies in building success.

MT: Thank you. So, kind of you. I was raised with a mentality of competition, meaning you had to take someone’s place or fight for it. This is not sustainable at all. You see, we must understand that every single person in this planet is unique, and your own journey brings a particular expertise. We must practice “collaboration”. Find what you are really good at and be at service. The key is on bridging these two factors: the customer’s need, and your personal touch on the solution. The third factor is evolution, I could share more about marketing strategies here, but none of them work if you do not know how to adapt. One of the major challenges I see on many professionals is that they marry their profession, get cut on the “doing” and forget about the “being”. When we focus on the solution, you look around and will notice that as long as there are human beings alive, it will be a need to be supplied. To me, this is the key that opens the door to being valuable.

PGMAG: How can ‘holistic modality’ help leaders to effectively discharge their duties? MT: The word “holistic” implies to look at the social and mental factors, not only at the symptoms. The world needs leaders who bring their abilities into the different domains of life, bringing their hearts on every decision they take. Also, combining the soul, the spirit and the mind. I am a true believer that this will be the new philosophy of life. When a leader feels happy and complete, he/she is able to excel their leadership to another level. PGMAG: Please tell us about ‘Guacamole’. MT: “Guacamole” it was a little restaurant located in Toronto, Canada, featuring Mexican cuisine. Everything was made from scratch and the ingredients were bought at the local farmer’s market. I would say the most popular item at “Guacamole” it was the variety of salsas from mild to extra spicy. I had to close because the landlord wanted to sell the

PGMAG: Would you agree that our energy affects everything and everyone we come in contact with? MT: Absolutely. Energy is all that is. Food is one of the biggest examples, you eat heavy meals… you feel heavy. When you listen to music; you are influenced by the vibration that generates. There are many scientific studies that prove how we can affect the environment with our energy. Look around! Your smart phone is able to function when you touch the screen because “you transfer energy” from your finger to the mobile. This is the same principle of energy healing. It is Amazing! PGMAG: What is your message for women who are living in self-doubt? MT: It is not your fault. Maybe

It is not your fault. Maybe you had a bad experience or grew up in an environment that raised believing you are not enough.

you had a bad experience or grew up in an environment that raised believing you are not enough. Awareness is the first step to change, and change is good. Fear only wants to keep you safe, but you were made to leave the caterpillar and fly. You are beautiful, and yes, you can accomplish what you desire. Help is on your way… you will see. PGMAG: If you knew what you know now, what would you do differently? MT: I would love myself first, as I mentioned earlier, taking care of oneself is the first responsibility we acquire as human beings.

PGMAG: What were the top three books that changed your life? MT: The bible, think and grow rich and the four agreements. PGMAG: Finally, what would you say to your younger self? MT: Allow yourself to relax and to see life as a playground. Let go of attachments and enjoy the now. PGMAG: Thank you for your time – much appreciated. MT: I am honoured to be interviewed by you. INTERVIEW WITH:

DEBBIE SLUYS (DS) PGMAG: Debbi, great to have you on today’s interview. DS: Thank you so much for this opportunity to share! PGMAG: Please briefly introduce yourself to our readers. DS: I live in Ontario Canada and have four extraordinary children ranging in ages from 17-29. My daughters are twins and one has a son and I love being his grandmother! My background for 30 years was in Early Years as the Director of multisite not for profit organization. I began my company Dare to Declare Inc. three years ago and stepped full time into coaching July 2020. My expertise is facilitating powerful Vision board workshops. PGMAG: Words are powerful and they create our realities. Please tell us more about your organisation (Dare To Declare). DS: It was just an idea three years ago. I had a photoshoot and was so energized by my own image that I realized the power that images have to support the life we want to create. I built a beautiful studio, created a curriculum and opened my “doors” for business in 2018. The pandemic has offered a new opportunity to coach people on a global level. PGMAG: The global challenge (Covid-19) has affected so many lives around the world. As an authority in your field, what are some of the ways that can help people improve their well-

being amidst the pandemic? DS: Most people think of Vision boards as Have, Do and Be - as in what do I want to Have? What do I need to Do? Then I will Be happy. A Dare to Declare Vision board turns that around to coach participants to focus on the “Be” or Being, and ask what do I get to Do to be the best version of myself and then the “have” will show up! PGMAG: You have over 30 years of experience in ‘Early Childhood Development’. What is your message for young mothers? DS: It’s not selfish to focus on yourself it’s Self - full. DS: It is living on purpose with purpose. Our purpose can be found where what we love, what we are good at, what the world needs and what we can make money at, all intersect. INTERVIEW WITH:

MARK D. DEMERS (MD) PGMAG: Mark, welcome to today’s interview with Lady Anita. MD: I would like to thank you so much for this opportunity to share with people! PGMAG: Please briefly introduce yourself to our readers. MD: I believe that my parents named me “Mark” because they knew I would fall in love, and have a long career, with technology “Mark”eting. I’m a passioned, humble, selfless, fearless leader that believes that, like in life, communications, trust, commitment, and respect solve a lot of problems. I worked for world leading software companies and start-up’s, in a variety of technologies and in most every position within marketing from product management, product marketing, channels, public/investor relations, even running marketing and now am privileged to run global industry marketing at SAS responsible for all of SAS’ industry messaging, market/product offerings/positioning, content and thought leadership and with my team providing critical industry-centered sales support. PGMAG: As a leading voice in the technological industry, what are some of the ways that could support business recovery amidst covid-19? MD: The global pandemic of COVID-19 is an unprecedented event unlike anything we have experienced in our lifetime. The financial impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are still widespread

and deeply felt. SAS, being the leader in Analytics and Artificial Intelligence, when COVID hit, we implemented internally what we called an Incident Command System (ICS). Immediately we assessed the impact on our customers in Industry to determine how we could be there for them to save lives and save businesses. One thing we know unequivocally is that data and analytics provide the key insights needed for most every industry. Let me give you a couple of short examples. To start with, right now, the world is in the most harrowing vaccination rollout in history. Determining how to distribute doses where they are most needed and in the right quantities while preserving vaccine integrity, depend on

trusted analytics – to identify priority populations, monitor capacity and efficacy, manage challenging supply chain logistics, and analyze future projections. For storage and transportation, our solutions use AI and streaming analytics to help alert, control and avoid issues effecting vaccine quality or loss. Health care systems need to ensure that adequate, quality medical resources are available to protect public health. Analytics help predict resource needs, including hospital capacity, personnel, and critical medical equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE). The current crisis significantly changed the way that

The applications and needs of analytics post recovery vary widely from detecting unemployment fraud, to protecting children in social services who are at-home due to closed schools and everything in between. Recovery post-pandemic is about rebuilding but it’s also about reimaging. It’s about future-proofing your organization by building in resilience. Analytics can greatly advance our ability to predict, prevent, prepare for whatever lies ahead.

PGMAG: You have had many years of experience in leading large teams and transforming the lives of others. What are the vital keys to leading a successful team in the new world (Post-pandemic)? MD: I personally have had to adapt to how I lead in these times and foreseeable future. Increased communications as well as clarity in expectations and deliverables is but one key. But mostly, its about increasing awareness and sensitivity and having empathy for realizing more what every individual and their families might be going through with COVID tragedies, work-from-home, home schooling children and caring for them while also working a full-day. Keeping a pulse on how teams are “feeling” is critical at times like these. Burn-out and fatigue and mental health are on my watch list for team members more than ever. PGMAG: How relevant is the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Emotional Intelligence (EI) in today’s business world? MD: (this may be a too far out there concept Lady Anita but thought I would tell you my theory)

consumers shop. From the toilet paper crisis and loading up their pantries with household products and non-perishable foods to increasing the necessity for online shopping, everything has changed. As retailers struggle to balance meeting increased demand with optimizing existing inventory, SAS can help predict and plan for demand in the short-term, mid-term, and long-term. Additionally, Intelligent Short-Term Product Substitution can be a powerful tool in helping retailers/ consumer product goods companies measure demand especially in times of high volatility such as the COVID-19 outbreak.

Both are incredibly important and come to light at a time they need each other to form a more perfect world. I tell people that the greatest generation to come, beyond the Baby boomers, Gen-X, Gen-Y (or Millennials), etc. is what I termed Generation-Pi. Advanced technologies like AI, powered by Humans. Pi π’s decimal representation (3.14159) “never ends” and “never settles” into a permanently repeating pattern. Artificial intelligence (AI) is intelligence demonstrated by machines, unlike the natural intelligence displayed by humans and animals, which involves consciousness and emotionality. Emotional intelligence (EI), emotional quotient (EQ) and emotional intelligence quotient (EIQ), enables people to recognize their emotions and those of others, discern them and use it to guide thinking and behaviour, and adjust emotions to adapt to environments. Studies have shown that people with high EI have greater mental health, job performance, and leadership skills. EI is typically associated with empathy because it involves an individual connecting their personal experiences with

There’s always been a significantly larger amount of men than women in computing, and engineering. And while the analytics industry is slightly more balanced (at 30% women), it’s still under-represented by women, especially at senior levels. those of others. So Gen-Pi will be the combination of people, with Emotional Intelligence, who trust in and code ethical Artificial Intelligence applied to business and life designed to form a more smart, trusting, always-on, autonomous, selfhealing, thinking, learning, selfcorrecting society. PGMAG: What could be done to support more women into leadership positions? MD: At SAS, we already do a good job if I look at how SAS stacks up next to other software vendors when it comes to gender equity. Our global workforce is nearly 40% female overall, with 32%

in technical roles and 35% in leadership, which is higher than the industry average. But with the downward trend of women in computer science, and women leaving the workforce again now at a rate more than typical due to “work from home and the pandemic”. Everyone knows that a lot more must be done, not only for women in leadership roles but with diversity too. As a man, I never built any bad habits starting my career. I was raised a “momma’s little boy” and my sister was my role model. I worked my first job in the business world for the first of many woman executives in my career. Each one an amazing experience beyond any words to convey. Each one gave me more opportunity to learn and grow. My first Vice President of Marketing job came at the hands of a women CEO in Dallas, Texas. Women leaders gave me my best opportunities to advance and whenever I’ve had the opportunity to hire or mentor and advance women I did so – only because they were the BEST for the job. Many themselves whom now are senior executives at various companies. There’s always been a

And while the analytics industry is slightly more balanced (at 30% women), it’s still underrepresented by women, especially at senior levels. Yet we know companies in the top quartile of gender diversity are staggeringly 15% more likely to exceed financial medians. Most of the global team I now lead at SAS are women. And if not for them SAS would not be in position to stand out in industries we serve. I’d tell women, continue to lead by example. Mentor. Talk up. Tech-up and find opportunities for advancements. And then make opportunities for women. Analytics and math and STEM are great foundational pieces

for women and young girls to blaze a path to the corporate board rooms. PGMAG: Oftentimes people give up on their journey at the slightest appearance of difficulties. What is your message for those who are struggling with indecisions? MD: Be a lifelong learner and find role models. No matter where you come from you

are guaranteed to find many humble, great people that succeeded not by taking the easy way but by doing it their way and never giving up. Wisdom knows how to tear down AND build. Incompetence can only destroy, but skill builds up. To be blunt, women in STEM, women in business, across all industries and women in the board room have always faced significant roadblocks and APRIL 2021

obstacles put in their ways. This alone should act as a beacon. A source of inspiration. Despite these difficulties, the numbers are all positively trending upwards. Every day, girls are breaking boundaries and barriers, tackling issues like child marriage, education inequality, violence, climate justice, and inequitable access to healthcare. Women are proving they are unstoppable. PGMAG: Would you agree that ‘global collaboration’ is one of the way forward for economic recovery? MD: Yes indeed. COVID-19 has given us all a new lens through which to view modern working. The virus has separated us from each other and unfortunately, isolation was part of the solution. Along with side consequences I’m afraid we will now be dealing with for years to come. The way we work and collaborate will never go back to “the norm.” We now have new ways of collaborating internally and externally. New means for producing marketing events, digitally or hybrid hopefully by end of 2021 (inperson and online).

14 APRIL 2021

Yes indeed. COVID-19 has given us all a new lens through which to view modern working. The virus has separated us from each other and unfortunately, isolation was part of the solution. Along with side consequences I’m afraid we will now be dealing with for years to come. The positive is the rise of remote working is eliminating boundaries and borders. Opening a wealth of global talent possibilities for both companies and individuals liberated by a borderless recruiting process. And in doing so, help overcome perhaps the biggest toll taken on diversity and inclusion. Talent! Wherever. Whenever. Whoever - is best for the job. PGMAG: What would you say to those who are considering a career path in Technology? MD: I’m so blessed to have picked a career almost 40-years ago in Technology. Its been a tremendous amount

of fun. Along the journey I’ve met many people in my life that have helped give me guidance and propel my career along the way. My first advice would be - Find mentors! Be CONNECTED. Experts agree that the most connected people are often the most successful. When you invest in your relationships -professional and personal -- it can pay you back in dividends throughout the course of your career. I’ve seen a real difference in the way people assert themselves when they have a trusted and supportive mentor. Plus, mentors are always willing to share their own life experience and successes, as they want to be able to part of someone else success. My second piece of advice. Regardless of the tech-world, whatever your interest is in whatever field or industry – KNOW the end BUSINESS. The day in the life of the people using the software and the people behind the data being analyzed by the business application. The speed of business has never been more accelerated than now. We are on the

Bottom line is – pick an industry you love and the technology will follow you. Analytics is a massive and FUN growth industry. It’s the place to be for an exhilarating, high-profile, well-compensated career, a cornerstone of our economic future. I would say - The future for technology has never been brighter. Just about every industry’s future depends on “IT”. PGMAG: What were the top three books that changed your life? MD: I once had a leader say to me “Leaders are readers” and so that struck a cord with me. Always be learning, leading. Top books: 1. First real business book I fell in love with was “In search of Excellence: Lessons from America's Best-Run Companies" by Thomas Peters and Robert

H. Waterman. Probably one of the greatest business books of all time. A study of many companies across diverse sectors and it lays out the basic principles of management and what led to the success of the companies highlighted. 2. Built to Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies 1994. James C. Collins and Jerry I. Porras took eighteen great companies and studied each, from very beginnings to the present day, versus competitors. Throughout, the authors asked: "What makes the truly exceptional companies different from the comparison companies and what were the common practices these enduringly great companies followed throughout their history?" 3. The Ten Commandments for Business Failure by Donald Keough, a former top executive at Coca-Cola who became Chairman of the board for a public Company I was head of Marketing and Investor relations of. I’ve always felt that I learned from my failures just as much as my successes and Mr Keough’s book and the pleasure to get to know him helped me embrace that. This light-hearted “how-not-to” book includes anecdotes from

Keough's long career as well as other infamous failures. PGMAG: Finally, what would you say to your younger self? MD: Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and learn from them and move on. Be embracing of life mentors and ask for help and feedback along the way. Take more time to hit refresh and relax. I left literally hundreds of days of vacation on the table and I regret personally not taking more time off. Your mind, body and soul need it. And how you lead will be impacted from taking time to reset, rest, be curious and creative and recharged. PGMAG: Thank you for your time today. MD: Thank you so much for giveng me the opportunity! appropriate to the times and international conditions such as after the covid 19 pandemic. Africa must continue to improve global governance with the overall Africa governance index which has improved at an annual rate of 1.4% since 2007, i.e. an increase of more than 5% Governments Africans should build on this positive trend to optimize foreign investment. This means, among other things, eliminating corruption by emphasizing that the countries of the North must

also do their work of fighting corruption, cat if there are corrupt there are corrupters; improve safety and security; strengthen the macroeconomic environment; investing in quality education and skills development in science, technology and innovation; and avoid the "race to the bottom syndrome", which consists of granting unnecessary tax exemptions and exemptions to foreign companies effectively fighting cybercrime with the greatest possible means. We must contribute to the development of strategies and the establishment of industrial activity poles, the promotion of special economic zones, the expansion of access to energy, the mobilization and awareness-raising in favor of the development of value chains in countries, and support for investment promotion through the International Conference on the Emergence of Africa. Investing in Africa is good business and a viable business strategy. The perfect time to invest in Africa is now because Africa is the most profitable region in the world. A report from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development indicates that between 2006 and 2011, Africa recorded the highest rate of return on foreign direct investment, at 14%, compared to rates of 9, 1% in Asia, 8.9% in Latin America and the Caribbean The global rate is 7.1%. Examples of companies making very big profits in Africa. Various factors

make Africa's profitability outlook brighter and make it imperative for European, North American, Asian and Latin American companies to invest in the continent and thereby contribute to its socioeconomic progress. The prospects for economic growth in Africa are among the most promising in the world according to the IMF, between 2018 and 2023, Africa's growth prospects will be most interesting in the world. In the face of aging populations in most other parts of the world, Africa's young and growing population is a formidable market. The continent's population is forecast to quadruple, from 1.19 billion people in 2015 to 4.39 billion by 2100. PGMAG: The current global pandemic has affected so many individuals and businesses. As a global influencer, what would you suggest to those struggling to make ends meet due to the impact of the pandemic? AKC: We must tell them any tabors that we must be optimistic because human beings have always been stronger in their ability to survive to overcome the

most unimaginable situations. The world has never been so unstable and difficult in peacetime as this moment that we are living. The dead by suicides and depressions have never been numerous per day than in this period of the Covid-19 health crisis, changed in economic and social crisis and to help the victims who suffer from the effects of this pandemic we absolutely must have the right ideas. Take stock of the situation and find ways to meet the needs of all those who no longer work and have no income. Implement the measures taken at the national level, and answer essential questions: Bringing food aid to some families and relocated people crammed into substandard housing. And take care of the homeless during this period, It is necessary to set up a hotline to answer questions related to the crisis, some anticipated on the website or social networks. We need to reinvent food and emergency aid, exceptional childcare for caregivers or child welfare structures, the link with isolated fragile people and local solidarity. "

my capacity as Ambassador of IHRC (International Humann Rights Commission) I wish all the women of the world a happy birthday. International Women's Day is an opportunity to reaffirm the commitments of States in favor of equality between women and men. This is an opportunity to make my proposals to all Governments of the World:

All States must sign a plan on professional equality (its implementation will give rise to a progress report during a monitoring committee), and why not a label (equality between women and men). business? AKC: It has never been easier to start and grow a business than in the 21st century. It is now easy for any visionary manager to catalyze excellence. For entrepreneurs and managers who are keen to create sustainable businesses, there is a difference between amassing wealth and building a fortune as there is a difference between the goal of any entrepreneur and manager to succeed in building a sustainable business that anyone can manage and develop. To do this, in my opinion, certain conditions must be met even greater between doing business and "building a successful and sustainable business." Propose values and not instructions: The vision and mission of the organization's values and founding principles, are such that anyone can decide and act as long as they make sure they are within the framework of the values. For a manager who wants to build a sustainable business, he must begin by understanding that his success depends on his ability to give people a watch they can consult to see what time it is doing what is right to do.

24 APRIL 2021

Letting the values lead and not the men: The guiding principles of the organization guarantees that all the decisions which fall within the framework of these principles and values are good decisions, the leader therefore will no longer demand that we pay him respect but that we respect the guiding principles and fundamental values. When we have to do something in a company the question will no longer be: "Will the boss agree, but rather is it in line with our guiding principles and core values?"

To make a business prosper you must have the quality of a visionary, and to create a visionary business and environment of excellence, a visionary business is the only type of business where the conditions to catalyze organizational excellence and build a sustainable business can quickly come together. Implement: It assumes that the people inside the company really want to achieve a great ideal and this great ideal is so strong that it transcends egos.

AKC: Hope for new Africa is a dream that I had the night of my birthday of March 16, 2015. This dream shows how to set up a system to allow all Afro descendants to visit Africa, to know it, to understand it and if possible to return there one day and maybe live in Africa. With this project we have included the possibility of offering your DNA Free to allow descendants of Afros who participate in this program to know their origin and the tributes of descendants if they wish. In fact this initiative is based on a collaboration with the African States which have validated the HOPE FOR NEW AFRICA initiative which allows us to bring the afro descendants for a secure visit with a meeting with the president who wishes them welcome and informs them about their native land. I created the hope for new africa initiative to collaborate with organizations of Afro descendants of the world to project a return of Afro descendants to Africa. More than 10 years later, Ghana and Uganda launched this idea to

ask for the return of all Afro descendants. This crisis weighs on our desire to launch our operation in February 2020. I would say to all young people that despite the catastrophic period of this pandemic, the only flame that cannot be extinguished is hope. And that success depends on self-confidence and the work force that the have been built and the unwavering desire to achieve the goal your work has set will never fail you.

DR. MARIAM SHAIKH (DMS) PGMAG: Dr. Mariam, great to have you on today’s interview with Lady Anita. DMS: Thank you so much Lady Anita for having me here as part of your prestigious global magazine. It is indeed an honour and a pleasure for me to be featured here. PGMAG: Please briefly introduce yourself to our readers. DMS: I am an eminent professional in the Education field based in United Arab Emirates with over 35 years of experience and continued success. My expertise covers Student Recruitment, Marketing, Strategic Development, International Relations and Student Experience. I have held key positions in reputed and prominent Universities in UAE and have worked actively to draw aspiring students looking to pursue further studies from all around the world to Dubai. My professional endeavors started in the early 80’s when I owned a Nursery School inspired by my own

PGMAG: As a key player in the field of education, what are some of the steps to supporting our children to pursue their dreams no matter where they may be in the world? DMS: These are some of my experiences which you can use as you wish. Throughout my journey I have worked closely with students from over 100 different nationalities always mentoring them and empowering them, helping them in their study choices, encouraging them to be entrepreneurs, pursue their dreams and work hard to achieve them. These are our future leaders and working closely with them has been very fulfilling and provided me with immense satisfaction.

We should encourage our children to create their own bucket list. This will give them the opportunity to experience the power of intentionality. Give them time and space to dream their dreams and do not restrict them but guide them. Teach them to work hard with dedication and to never give up irrespective of obstacles or challenges. My first pioneering milestone achievement was accomplished because of my daughter for whom I started a Pre - School as there were no preschools in the region at that time so one of the ways in which we can support our children is to be good role-models. Always model big dreams in your own life which your children can follow. We should always instil confidence in them and encourage them to dream big and persevere. Always lead by example. We should encourage our children to create their own bucket list. This will give them

the opportunity to experience the power of intentionality. Give them time and space to dream their dreams and do not restrict them but guide them. Teach them to work hard with dedication and to never give up irrespective of obstacles or challenges. Encourage your young adults to identify their passion and work at what excites them and keeps them happy. Always encourage positivity and teach them to set attainable goals and show them how to define their direction. As the Chief Happiness Officer in one of the Universities I worked in, I implemented many projects to promote and foster happiness and create a wonderfully positive and happy environment for our students and encouraged them to take the lead. I also tried to create the climate in which people are motivated to excel, so that they were engaged into work and contributed their best. Thus, I focused on teamwork. I taught others to be selfless in achieving goals that will benefit the whole organization, without waiting for reward. But first I demonstrated this on my personal example. I was an intentional learner, who concentrated on self-

children and then went on to Head a prominent school group as Principal. improvement and encouraged it in others. The same should be done with our children. Create a happy and positive environment at home and always show respect and understanding of their views and preferences with the necessary guidance. Encourage them to network and mix with the right friends and associates and find a good mentor to learn from. On my journey here, I have faced many challenges but each one of them has only strengthened me to make me the person I am today; a thorough professional who knows exactly what she wants; someone who sets her eyes on a goal and does not lose sight of it, unless it is achieved. As a professional in a certain field, it is everyone’s dream to be recognized and awarded for the exemplary work that they do. Since it is a dream or a goal, people work hard inorder to achieve it. We become role models of inspiration when we invite dialogue and courageously pursue our own dreams. We become mentors who encourage young people to dream by our example. CLIMB THOSE STAIRS WITH CONFIDENCE AND DONT LOOK BACK - YOU ARE NOT GOING THAT WAY!! so many students, and this has prevented them from reaching for the greater purpose in their lives. In your capacity as an influencer, what are some key elements to helping such individuals to become change makers in the world? DMS: My message to students: CLIMB THOSE STAIRS WITH CONFIDENCE AND DONT LOOK BACK - YOU ARE NOT GOING THAT WAY!! Many of us struggle with confidence issues. In an age of social media, it can be difficult not to compare ourselves with other people. We might lack confidence at work, in public speaking, or in meeting new people, which makes us fear that we aren’t taken seriously or that we won’t meet new friends. Reminds me of a quote by Martin Luther King, Jr. “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole

Think about that. When you embark on a journey, the starting line is clear; you can see it and touch it. But the finish line is muddled, if it even exists. We take the first step every single day without knowing the outcome. We have faith and confidence in ourselves and we walk a few steps further. The key here is putting our fears aside and walking that invisible staircase with confidence. We are in charge of our human journey. It can be an amazing adventure, filled with love, happiness and health. Of course, stumbling blocks pop up in our way from time to time, but we get to walk the staircase and choose the adventure in front of us each and every day. The world has already built our staircase to success; it’s only waiting for us to take the first step!! Ensure that young people understand that they are equipped with creativity, energy and fresh perspective and they hold the incredible power to unlock solutions to society’s greatest challenges. In fact, young leaders across the globe are already creating

change in their communities. Ask them to bring friends and collaborators along from the start. As they develop their ideas, they should be on the lookout for people who bring different perspectives and skills from their own. Then come together around your shared values and goals you’re striving towards. Soon you will have created a team and you will feel that powerful changemaker energy!! PGMAG: You are a woman in a prominent leadership

position and your work has positively impacted many lives around the world. How can we support more women into leadership roles? DMS: The famous French writer Antoine de SaintExupéry once said “Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing to take away.” From the power of his words that mean so much to us today, to the many challenges we now face after a period of inevitable decline as a result of the pandemic ,one thing I

As we try to navigate these complicated times, which brings me to this- what I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have. And I'm especially proud

Rania of Jordan PGMAG: What does it entail to become a valuable member of the society? DMS: To become a valuable member of society one needs to first accept that it is society that makes us who we are. It is so important to give back to society what society has given us. It requires us to consistently instill good values in the younger generation by encouraging them to volunteer

in social service and other CSR initiatives. We should always look through compassionate eyes. Make an effort to reach out to someone in need. ...Respect. Imagine what a different world it would be if everyone respected each other no matter what their differences or beliefs were. Take Responsibility. Be an active Contributor. Set good examples for others to follow. Always be grateful. A person can be more

Society has people, who are struggling with life, surrounded by problems, those who have difficulties in life- I observed, some times even listening to them makes them feel good, feel motivated- so volunteer to listen to people as much as you can, listen not with an intention to pass your time but listen with an intention to actually understand their feelings and making them feel good- thus such people living in society will be happy, you actually create a value for them! By helping people in making them more productivethat includes sharing your experience with them, be it a CV making, an interview preparation or may be giving them some pointers to work more effectively. Motivate people as much as you can, let them dream! Because success comes when you dream, dreams should not be considered as common or granted to every one, it is to practices, to be preserved to be inspired! People dream, most of them would surely be making it happen, and that not only creates value for them, but it creates value for whole

society! PGMAG: What are some of the keys to effective leadership? DMS: Some people are natural born leaders. That’s a frequently heard statement. But are they really? There are people who are called leaders simply because they are in leadership positions. Then there are leaders that others want to follow and are thrust into leadership positions. You want to be a person that you would follow into the darkest nights and brightest days. When YOU would follow YOU, then you become a leader others will follow. In a world of million dollar CEO’s making headlines on a daily basis, one has to question if those big buck leaders are inspiring others to follow them? Ask yourself, are you inspiring others to follow you? Just being in a leadership position doesn’t mean others want to follow you. You have to earn it, work for it, be an active participant and take responsibility for what you do and say because others are watching you. There is a huge misconception of leadership in today’s world due to social media, the “online” presence of someone and the

People follow leaders who provide the most simplest of things to those around them. Things like respect, empathy, appreciation, embracing new ideas, openness, patience and even the ability to ask questions to. The keys to effective leadership according to me is to learn to effectively delegate the responsibility for completion and the authority required to get things done. Many bosses feel that they need to control every little thing that their employees do. This is a recipe for disaster. When you delegate work

If you are leading a team, there must be certain characteristics that define your leadership style. The question is whether you know your leadership style and are doing things right! to employees, you multiply the amount of work you can accomplish while you develop your employees' confidence, leadership and work skills. Set specific and measurable goals with your employees and regularly monitor their progress towards achieving them. As Leaders we should be motivators. Followers should look up to them to receive inspiration. Imagine if the leader talks pessimism and easily get defeated by setbacks. An effective leader is a beacon of optimism. He does not focus on problems, rather he seeks solutions. He is able to cope with adverse situations without losing the focus on the big picture and future. An optimistic leader does not wallow in the dark, but bounces back even stronger. Always give value to people: It is people who select a leader. 32 APRIL 2021

People follow leaders by choice. If a leader can’t value his people, it wouldn’t take long for them to topple him from the seat. Unfortunately, leaders conveniently forget this fact. An effective leader does not work in isolation but encourages people to walk along with him. An effective leader believes in his people, trusts them, delegates responsibilities gives them respect and pays attention to them. Leadership for me is a continuous learning process. An effective leader constantly seeks opportunities that can add to his knowledge

and wisdom. This is how he overcomes his weaknesses and failures. He is also the follower of leaders and mentors who inspire him. He spends hours reading books on leadership or even taking up advanced leadership development programs to hone his skills. Great leaders such as Winston Churchill and Steve Jobs were avid readers. As leaders we should learn to accept our shortcomings and weaknesses. Owing to his position, a leader’s pride may not allow him/her to accept his mistakes. But, an effective leader would gracefully embrace his blunders. He understands

that his mistakes or incorrect decisions could result in the failure of goals and demoralize the people. By admitting mistakes, a leader just proves that he is human and not perfect. However, at the same time, the leader leaves his slip-ups behind, takes lessons and moves forward in life. He knows that he can’t undo his mistake. So, he simply analyses why it happened in the first place and what he could do to rectify it and avoid it in the future. By doing so, he earns respect from people and builds a culture of trust. In his book ‘I, Steve: Steve Jobs In His Own Words’, the Apple CEO rightly said, “Sometimes when you innovate, you make mistakes. It is best to admit them quickly, and get on with improving your other innovations.” It is not a smooth ride to leadership and then being effective at it. staying happy and successful. Luckily for me, I have my husband and my kids who have always supported me and understood the dedication that my job requires in terms of time. Additionally, having worked with the best teams all along my journey has helped me to reach where I am today. As a Transformational Leader I have always created clones of myself in my work space so that I am able to manage my time in the best way possible. I cannot emphasize enough on planning and strategy . I always prioritize my tasks and plan my week effectively. Often, work takes precedence over everything else in our lives. Our desire to succeed professionally can push us to set aside our own wellbeing. Creating a harmonious work-life balance or work-life integration is critical, though, to

improve not only our physical, emotional and mental wellbeing, but it's also important for our career. A good work-life has numerous positive effects, including less stress, a lower risk of burnout and a greater sense of wellbeing. This not only benefits employees but employers, too. When creating a schedule that works for me, I think about the best way to achieve balance at work and in my personal life. Work-life balance is more about having the flexibility to get things done in your professional life while still having time and energy to enjoy your personal life. There may be some days where you work longer hours so you have time later in the week to enjoy other activities. When you hear "work-life balance," you probably imagine having an extremely productive APRIL 2021

day at work, and leaving early to spend the other half of the day with friends and family. While this may seem ideal, it is not always possible. Don't strive for the perfect schedule; strive for a realistic one. Some days, you might focus more on work, while other days you might have more time and energy to pursue your hobbies or spend time with your loved ones. Balance is achieved over time, not each day. Although work is an expected societal norm, your career shouldn't be restraining. If you hate what you do, you aren't going to be happy, plain and simple. You don't need to love every aspect of your job, but it needs to be exciting enough that you don't dread getting out of bed every morning. Your overall physical, emotional and mental health should be your main concern. Prioritizing your health doesn't have to consist of radical or extreme activities. It can be as simple as daily meditation or exercise. Don’t be afraid to unplug. Cutting ties with the outside world from time to time allows us to recover from weekly

stress, and gives us space for other thoughts and ideas to emerge. Taking that time to unwind is critical to success and will help you feel more energized when you're on the clock. Sometimes, truly unplugging means taking vacation time and shutting work completely off for a while. Whether your vacation consists of a oneday staycation or a two-week trip to Bali, it's important to take time off to physically and mentally recharge. Make time for yourself and your loved ones. While your job is important, it shouldn't be your entire life. You were an individual before taking this position, and you should prioritize the activities or hobbies that make you

When planning time with your loved ones, create a calendar for romantic and family dates. It may seem weird to plan oneon-one time with someone you live with, but it will ensure that you spend quality time with them without work-life conflict. Just because work keeps you busy doesn't mean you should neglect personal relationships. Set boundaries and work hours. Set boundaries for yourself and your colleagues, to avoid burnout. When you leave the office, avoid thinking about upcoming projects or answering company emails. Consider having a separate computer or phone for work, so you can shut it off when you clock out. If that isn't possible, use separate browsers, emails or filters for your work and personal.

In our always-on world, balance is a very personal thing, and only you can decide the lifestyle that suits you best." PGMAG: What is your message for world leaders? DMS: Our political leaders have great responsibilities, but as with many situations in life, people often rise or fall to meet your expectations. Our responsibility as citizens is to expect our leaders to lead and to give them enough support so that they may do so. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, leadership has been put to the test. It is increasingly clear that to emerge from the crisis stronger and more resilient requires rethinking what it means to lead and prioritizing purpose, trust, empathy and inclusivity.

PGMAG: Who would be your ideal lunch date and what would be the topic of discussion? DMS: My ideal lunch date would be with any of my students over endless discussions on goal setting and helping them work towards making their dreams a reality. Budding entrepreneurs require all the guidance and mentorship and hence I think that I would certainly love to discuss their plans for the future and give them all the encouragement they need to activate their true potential. This is where my true passion lies- empowering and mentoring students.

JACQUELINE RHULE (JR) PGMAG: Jacqueline, welcome to today’s interview with Lady Anita. JR: Hi Lady Anita and thank you so much for this opportunity. I have so looked forward to this interview as I am passionate about sharing any business advice that can help others. PGMAG: Jacqueline, please briefly introduce yourself to our readers. help you grow a sustainable business as you will be continually reaching out to your prospective clients/customers. As a result you will generate an ongoing pipeline of customer leads into your business. Another important factor is to be able to think about how you can scale your business. As a one woman/man band, having a plan on how

WITHOUT working yourself into the ground, is a critical factor to sustainability. Nothing kills your business dream (and your health!) more than “burnout”. So many more steps but for the purposes of this interview, I’d say that this one BIG thing “Mindset” is the powerful precursor to business sustainability, innovation and ongoing creativity. Quite simply if you don’t think you will succeed - you won’t. You won’t take the opportunities that come your way, you’re unlikely to put yourself out there so people know who you are and what you offer and you won’t do the things that will help you perfect your craft.

Powerful Global Women Foundation (Powerhouse Charity) was founded in 20l6 in Nigeria, West Africa, by Lady Anita Duckworth-Bradshaw. The core objective of this organization is to transform the lives of women and children, through various projects centred around the need of the service group. In 20l6 Lady Anita single handedly fed over 400 children as part of “project feed l000 children globally”, and held an empowerment conference for the women. Through this project, so many women have gone to do great things with the knowledge they gained from the event. She recently held a life transforming event for women in Lagos, Nigeria as part of International women’s month celebration 20l8. The turnout was very encouraging. She is working towards supporting more families to keep their children and wards in school through” project back-to-school” starting in September 20l8. We are seeking for global support from individuals and organisations who would love to be a part of this service to humanity.
