FABIENNE WOHLWEND nasce nel 1997 a Vaduz, in Liechtenstein, e già nel 2005 guida un go-kart. Dal momento in cui stringe il volante tra le mani, non lo molla più. Tra le sue affermazioni più importanti, la vittoria del campionato Super Mini del Liechtenstein nel 2008, a cui fanno seguito, negli anni successivi, diversi piazzamenti importanti in Svizzera e, quindi, in gare internazionali nelle categorie monomarcia.

Nel 2016 debutta anche in monoposto, nell’Italian F.4 Championship Powered by Abarth, dove si aggiudica il Woman Trophy e, nel corso della stagione mostra grandi progressi, cogliendo, non a caso, i suoi migliori piazzamenti proprio a Monza nell’ultimo weekend.

FABIENNE WOHLWEND was born in 1997 in Vaduz, in Liechtenstein, and started driving a go-kart in 2005. After the first time in which she held a wheel between his hands, she never let it go. Among her successes, first place in the Super Mini Championship in Liechtenstein in 2008, and, later, several important results in Switzerland and in international races in the single-speed kart category.

In 2016, she makes her debut also in the single-seater category, at the Italian F.4 Championship Powered by Abarth, where she wins the Woman Trophy, and, during the season, shows great progress, with her best ranking, just in the last weekend in Monza.

41 piloti a Misano, per la “prima” dell’Italian Formula 4 Championship powered by Abarth, e 18 team schierati sono un segnale inequivocabile di salute e di forte crescita per questo “Tricolore” giunto al suo terzo anno di vita. In gara tanti nomi di giovani piloti molto interessanti, spesso già messisi in luce nel mondo del karting internazionale. Tutti pronti a iniziare la nuova avventura nell’automobilismo, partendo proprio dalla monoposto propedeutica voluta dalla FIA e immediatamente sostenuta dalla Federazione Italiana.

WHAT A START AT MISANO!

The 41 drivers and 18 teams that lined up at Misano for The “debut” of the Italian Formula 4 Championship powered by Abarth are a clear sign of the health and strong growth of this Italian “Tricolour” event that is now in its third year. Top-notch drivers such as the young Mick Schumacher, competing for the Prema Power Team, took part in the race, together with many other well-known names in international karting. Everyone was ready to begin a new adventure in motorsport, starting with an introductory single-seater wanted by FIA and immediately supported by the Italian Federation.

MICK SCHUMACHER PRIMO PROTAGONISTA

È Mick Schumacher, al suo secondo anno in F.4 dopo aver debuttato l’anno precedente nella serie tedesca, il primo protagonista dell’Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth. Nella prova d’apertura della stagione, il tedesco scende in pista con il Prema Power Team, squadra che ha prevalso nelle ultime due edizioni del campionato con il canadese Lance Stroll (nel 2014) e l’estone Ralf Aron (2015). A Misano Mick Schumacher si aggiudica le due gare di qualificazione dopo aver realizzato il miglior tempo del proprio turno sul bagnato. Nell’altra sessione di prove, invece, è l’argentino Marcos Siebert del team Jenzer Motorsport a rivelarsi il più veloce. Nella terza manche la vittoria va al messicano Raul Guzman, portacolori del team DR Formula. La gara finale vede un’indecisione al via da parte di Schumacher, scattato in pole. La testa della corsa va così a Guzman, prima, e a Siebert, poi, con quest’ultimo che conclude vittorioso sull’estone Juri Vips e sullo stesso Guzman. Schumacher riesce a guadagnare la quinta posizione dopo una gran rimonta, condita dal giro più veloce, diventata poi quarta posizione dopo una penalizzazione inflitta all’indiano Kush Maini che con il team BVM si era piazzato quarto, rendendosi anche lui protagonista di un ottimo recupero dalla 14ma posizione. Nella classifica di campionato, dopo la prima prova è quindi Schumacher il leader provvisorio con 62 punti, seguito da Guzman con 58 e Siebert con 53. Nel nuovo Trofeo riservato ai Rookie è Vips il primo leader della graduatoria.

MICK SCHUMACHER THE FIRST TO STAR

Mick Schumacher, in his second year in F.4 after making his debut last year in the German series, was the first star of the Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth. In the opening race of the season, the son of the seven-time F.1 world champion competed for the Prema Power Team, the team that won the previous two editions of the championship thanks to the Canadian Lance Stroll (in 2014) and the Estonian Ralf Aron (2015). At Misano, Mick Schumacher won the two qualifying heats after recording the fastest lap time in his round in the wet. However, Argentina’s Marcos Siebert driving for Jenzer Motorsport was the quickest in the other practice session. Victory in the third heat went to the Mexican Raul Guzman, driving for the DR Formula team. Schumacher, in pole position, suffered a moment’s indecision at the start of the final race. Guzman pounced into the lead, which was then taken by Siebert, who managed to win the race ahead of Estonia’s Juri Vips and Guzman in third. Schumacher managed to cross the finish line in fifth after a great comeback, including the fastest lap, which later became fourth after a penalty was awarded to the Indian Kush Maini, driving for team BVM, who had finished fourth after also managing an impressive comeback from 14th place. After the first round, the championship standings see Schumacher as the provisional leader on 62 points, followed by Guzman on 58 and Siebert on 53. Vips leads the standings in the new trophy for rookies.

IL FORMAT DI GARA, LA NOVITA’ 2016 DELLA F4

La novità assoluta della terza edizione dell’Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth è rappresentata dal format di gara, che ricalca esattamente quanto avviene nel karting, dove è consuetudine disputare le manches di qualificazione per garantirsi l’accesso alla gara finale nel caso in cui il numero dei piloti sia superiore alla capienza del circuito. Nella prima gara della stagione, i piloti della F.4 sono stati 41, con 36 posti disponibili sulla griglia di partenza di Misano. Pertanto, dopo le prove di qualificazione, i piloti sono stati suddivisi in tre gruppi: A-B-C. Ogni gruppo ha disputato due manche (B contro C, A contro B, A contro C), generando una classifica generale data da tutti i punteggi acquisiti da ciascun conduttore. I primi 36 hanno potuto avere accesso alla gara finale di Misano. Le capienze degli altri circuiti sono: Adria 32, Imola 42, Mugello 46, Vallelunga 36, Monza 48.

THE RACE FORMAT, NEW IN 2016 FOR F.4

The big news for the third edition of the F.4 Championship powered by Abarth is the race format itself, which mirrors exactly what happens in karting, in which it is customary to compete in the qualifying heats to gain access to the final race in cases in which the number of pilots exceeds the number allowed onto the circuit. In the first race of the season, there were 41 F.4 drivers and only 36 places available on the Misano grid. Therefore, following the qualifying practices sessions, the drivers were divided into three groups: A-B-C. Each group took part in two heats (B versus C, A versus B, A versus C), generating an overall ranking as a result of all the points scored by each driver. The first 36 took part in the final race at Misano. The number allowed on the other circuits are: Adria 32, Imola 42, Mugello 46, Vallelunga 36 and Monza 48.
