he joined the cover band Bangarang and loved playing saxophone on stage. “I’ve been grinding forever and competing with a zillion talented people in this city, and it’s helped me stay on my A-game,” he says. “I’m serious about business, but I also like to have fun, alleviate stress, and make people laugh. Success is finding happiness while helping others.”

“I’m a giver,” Fred smiles. “I love figuring things out and making people happy. I’m also very protective of my clients and REALTOR® friends. They know they can trust me because nobody cares as much as I do about getting these loans closed. I’m hands-on throughout the process and always available, so people get information when they ask for it. Service is what makes someone ‘the best’ in this industry. I’ve stayed relevant for over 20 years by taking exceptional care of my clients.”

Outside work, Fred loves spending time with his family, including his wife, Alexandra, their seven-year-old daughter, Bella, and their three dogs.
“We love the beach and have a vacation house in Ocean City where we like to relax,” Fred says. “I still enjoy music, and I’ll occasionally play sax in pop-up gigs around town. Life can feel like you constantly change gears, but I’ve found lasting contentment in putting others first, personally and professionally. You know you’re doing things right when you get hand-written thank you cards from happy clients. That always warms my heart.”

Originally, Fred thought he would help people as a REALTOR®. He went to school and obtained his license in 2003. However, he realized the mortgage industry was a better fit. “I love finance, but I can think like a REALTOR®,” he says. “That helps me know what agents need at any given time. I also know how hard agents work to get their clients to closing. My business is 100% referral-based because people can count on me to solve problems and deliver results.”

Years before taking over The Talking Teacup, Patti had stumbled upon the teahouse during a challenging time in her life. She found solace within its cozy and welcoming walls and quickly befriended Kathy. Patti began helping out around the teahouse, and before her passing, Kathy sent Patti a letter encouraging her to follow her passions and take over The Talking Teacup. A place where time seems to slow down and the worries of the world fade away. A place where memories are made and comfort is found. This place is The Talking Teacup.

The story of The Talking Teacup is one of resilience, friendship, and following your dreams. The teahouse was opened in 2003 by Kathy Heck, a woman with a simple yet powerful motto: “Come as a stranger, leave as a friend.” Inspired by memories of sharing tea with her grandmother, Kathy wanted to create a space where families and friends could gather and make lasting memories together.

AS A REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONAL, WHAT SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS SHOULD I BE ON?
The question I am most frequently asked in the real estate arena is, “What platforms should I be on?” Considering that there are roughly 128 mainstream social media platforms out there, that is an excellent question! Spoiler Alert: you should not be on every platform. Frankly, it’s nearly impossible to do and do well. You’d have to have a very extensive team of social media experts at your disposal, and even then, with being on so many platforms simultaneously, your messaging would become muddled and the ROI wouldn’t be there. I typically recommend 5 platforms, on average, depending upon your goals. Here are the top 5 social media platforms I recommend for REALTORS®…

I love Instagram for realtors. It’s where your target audience is. Millennials are in the prime home-buying age right now, so why wouldn’t you put your message out there in the space that they frequent? Instagram goes hand-in-hand with Facebook since they’re both Meta platforms, however, they operate quite di erently. Originally, Instagram was designed for photo sharing. Seeing the success of TikTok, they pivoted to short-form video, but now they’re striving to put an equal emphasis on photo and video. Your strategy should include both photos/graphics and video. If video isn’t part of your social media strategy, you won’t be competitive. YouTube is the king of all video platforms. It allows for traditional long-form landscape videos, and now with the introduction and increasing popularity of YouTube Shorts, you can utilize short-form video on the platform. Why is this platform so important? YouTube is owned by Google and is the second most visited website, after Google Search. Let that one sink in.

GOOGLE BUSINESS
You’re probably thinking, “Amy, this isn’t a social media platform.” Well, I beg to di er. Not only does Google Business allow your business information to populate in searches, but you can post status updates and events, and most importantly, collect reviews. No matter where a potential client finds you, they will Google you. If your Google listing is nonexistent or written in crayon, you probably just lost a potential new client. This platform adds to your credibility, and best of all, it’s free, but don’t just create a listing and then never update. To get the full benefit from your Google Business listing, you should post regular updates and encourage reviews.

Notice that TikTok did not make the list. That is largely to do with its uncertain future, as I write this piece. In general, it’s a pretty solid platform, but I can’t recommend someone spend time, money, and resources on it until we know what’s happening with its usage in the United States.

Social media allows you to build your brand, establish credibility, and generate leads. In a very crowded industry like real estate, it’s a great way to stand out, but please remember that social media is a form of advertising. Treat it as such and ensure you’re following all required advertising guidelines.

Maryellen attended Penn State University, where she started her journey to become a teacher. Her dual major in elementary education and education of exceptional children culminated in her student teaching experiences. It was easy to fall in love with Buckingham Township, and she found herself hoping to work in the area permanently. Her first experience with teaching special needs students was at a South Jersey high school.

She created a work-life harmony and spent every waking working moment serving her clients and their families. When they were available, Maryellen’s family served by her side. Even at a young age, her daughter, Maura, cheerfully volunteered to help with mailings and events. It truly felt like a family business.
