uelve el Capricho. Esta primavera reabre sus puertas en Puerto Portals, en su Plaza Mayor, en la que llamamos Plaza del Capricho. El que fuera uno de los principales puntos de encuentro en nuestra isla, un café y su terraza, que durante casi veinte años concitó un fabuloso ambiente, y que había de ser testigo de brillantes momentos sociales y deportivos. Café Capricho fue un lugar singular y extraordinario. Una pequeña taberna marinera, abierta antes de que llegasen barcos a los muelles, que habría de convertirse en un lugar excepcionalmente famoso y popular. Famoso por los muchos famosos, y popular por cuanto nuestra filosofía y sentido de la hospitalidad así lo requería, también por lo heterogéneo de su ambiente, muchas veces festivo. La historia de Café Capricho fue intensa y significada. Puedo decir con orgullo que fuimos líderes en ventas en muchas marcas, que eran millares nuestros visitantes, que celebramos miríadas de copas y brindis. Además, durante años, prensa y revistas reportaban desde su terraza los ecos de sociedad. Barcos, marinos, viajeros, turistas, personalidades de todo el mundo. Verdaderamente… Tout le monde. Que en los Mares del Sur y en el Caribe, en el Atlántico Norte o en la línea del Ecuador, en todo el Mediterráneo, alguien hablaba del Capricho, aquel pequeño café en Puerto Portals. Un capricho es algo que deseas aunque no necesitas. Pero no lo entendíamos así en Puerto Portals. Afortunadamente, taberna y terraza vuelven a su actividad de origen, y lo hace bajo la dirección de los grandes profesionales del Grupo Tristán, que con su soberbio proyecto de restauración, su savoir faire, inician una nueva singladura con la intención renovada de que sea lo que fue: un central punto de encuentro con el ambiente que le es natural, el de bar y mar, en un lugar como es Puerto Portals. Capricho vuelve a abrir sus puertas y os esperamos a todos, a sabiendas de que muchos encontraréis en su barra, en sus mesas, en su oferta y servicio, el lugar donde pasar unas buenas jornadas… sean marineras o no. Entonces decíamos… “para mayor seguridad en el mar, quédate en el bar”. Ese era nuestro lema. Ahora, a título de reapertura y celebración, podría decir alegre y encantado: Capricho… mar, bar y champán. Con este recuerdo y noticia, mis mejores deseos para todos.

This spring what was one of the main meeting points on our island – a café and its terrace - reopens in Puerto Portals, in the Plaza Mayor - the very square we call Plaza del Capricho. For nearly twenty years the Capricho induced a fabulous atmosphere, and witnessed brilliant social and sporting moments. Café Capricho was a singular, extraordinary place. A small sailors’ tavern, open before boats arrived at the quays, which was to turn into an exceptionally famous and popular place. Famous because of the many celebrities, and popular because our philosophy and sense of hospitality demanded that of us, and also because of the diversity of its atmosphere, which was often festive. The history of Café Capricho was intense and significant. I can proudly assert that we were the leaders in sales of many brands, that we had thousands of visitors, that we were the venue for myriad drinks and toasts, that for years the press and magazines reported all the society echoes from its terrace. Boats, sailors, travellers, tourists, figures from all over the world. In truth… Tout le monde. That in the South Seas and the Caribbean, in the North Atlantic or on the Equator, and all over the Mediterranean, someone was talking about the Capricho, that little café in Puerto Portals. A capricho is a whim, something you want even though you don’t need it. But we didn’t see it like that in Puerto Portals. Fortunately, tavern and terrace now return to their original activity, and they do so under the direction of the great professionals of the Tristán group which, with its superb restaurant project, its savoir faire, embark on a new run with the renewed intention of making it what it was: a central meeting point with the atmosphere of what comes naturally to it, that of a bar and the sea, in a place that is Puerto Portals. Capricho opens its doors again and we await you all, knowing that many of you will find a place to spend some wonderful days here, at its bar or its tables, in its menu and service… whether you sail or not. Back then we used to say… “Promote safe boating… stay ashore and drink”. That was our motto. Now, as a reopening ceremony and celebration, I could say, happy and delighted as I am, “Capricho… sea, bar and champagne”. With this memory and piece of exciting news, I offer my best wishes to all. Früher war der Platz unter dem Namen Capricho-Platz bekannt, denn das Lokal war fast zwei Jahrzehnte lang einer der Hotspots der Insel. Hier herrschte jeden Tag quirliges Treiben, Café und Terrasse waren Gastgeber zahlreicher denkwürdiger gesellschaftlicher und sportlicher Events. Das Café Capricho war ein außergewöhnlicher, ein einzigartiger Ort. Noch bevor die ersten Schiffe an den Molen festmachten, gab es die kleine Fischerkneipe schon, die später beliebt und berühmt werden sollte. Berühmt wegen der vielen Stars, die ins Capricho kamen. Beliebt wegen unserer Firmen-philosophie, unserer Gastfreundschaft, dem bunten Ambiente, der Party-stimmung. Das Café Capricho blickt auf eine bewegende, bedeutsame Geschichte zurück. Stolz kann ich sagen, dass wir in vielen Dingen Marktführer waren. Wir haben tausende Gäste bedient, zahllose Trinksprüche ausgebracht. Viele Jahre lang waren wir bei den Medien begehrte Bühne für Reportagen über die high society. Yachten, Boote, Seeleute, Globetrotter, Touristen, Leute aus aller Welt...tout le monde. Ob auf der Südhalbkugel, in der Karibik, im Nordatlantik, am Äquator oder im Mittelmeerraum – immer sprach man vom Capricho, diesem kleinen Café in Puerto Portals. Eine Caprice ist etwas, das man sich wünscht, aber eigentlich nicht braucht. Obwohl, wir haben das Wort in Puerto Portals nie so verstanden. Glücklicherweise kehren Lokal und Terrasse zu ihren Ursprüngen zurück und zwar unter der Leitung der Profis der Grupo Tristán, die mit ihrem ehrgeizigen Konzept, ihrem Savoir-faire, das Capricho wieder auf Kurs bringen und zu dem machen, was es war: ein angesagtes Lokal mit phantastischem Ambiente am Meer, an einem Ort wie dem Nobelhafen Puerto Portals. atalán de nacimiento, el artista Joan Miró (Barcelona, 1893 – Palma de Mallorca, 1983) encontró, sin embargo, su madurez personal y creativa en Mallorca, enganchándose a la forma de vida de los isleños, al ambiente mediterráneo y a su paisaje excepcional, fijando aquí su residencia hasta el día de su muerte. Este estrecho vínculo provenía de su infancia, de una madre mallorquina y una familia materna con la que pasaba los veranos en la isla. Entonces, de niño, ya plasmó en sus dibujos el castillo de Bellver, La Lonja y los molinos de viento. El broche a esta relación con Mallorca llegó al contraer matrimonio con Pilar Juncosa. Juntos viajaron a París, para contagiarse de su atmósfera intelectual. Pero los bombardeos nazis les hicieron regresar en los años 40 y vivir a caballo entre Palma y Barcelona. Con el traslado definitivo en 1954, Miró disfrutó por primera vez de un taller único y espacioso, que diseñó su amigo arquitecto Josep Lluís Sert en la casa adquirida en las cercanías de Palma y que es hoy la Fundación Pilar i Joan Miró, en la que se puede visitar el estudio y la exposición permanente de las obras del gran artista surrealista.

Catalan by birth, the artist Joan Miró (Barcelona, 1893 – Palma de Mallorca, 1983) nevertheless found his personal and creative maturity on Mallorca, where he was ensnared by the lifestyle of the islanders, the Mediterranean atmosphere and the exceptional scenery, establishing his residence here until the day he died. This close link came from his childhood, from a Mallorcan mother and a maternal family with whom he spent summers on the island. Already, back then as a child, he represented Bellver castle, the Lonja and the windmills in his drawings. The culmination of this relationship with Mallorca came when he married Pilar Juncosa. Together they travelled to Paris, to become infected with its intellectual atmosphere. But the Nazi bombing raids turned them back in the 1940s, to live between Palma and Barcelona. With the permanent move in 1954, Miró enjoyed a unique, spacious atelier for the first time, designed by his friend the architect Josep Lluís Sert in the house acquired on the outskirts of Palma which is now the Fundación Pilar i Joan Miró, where you can visit the studio and the permanent exhibition of the works of this great surrealist artist.

Nach dem Umzug auf die Insel 1954 wurde für Miró ein Traum wahr: sein Freund, der Architekt Josep Lluís Sert, baute für ihn ein geräumiges Atelier in einem Haus an Palmas Stadtrand. Heute beherbergt das Gebäude die Stiftung Pilar i Joan Miró sowie das Atelier und eine ständige Werkschau des großen Meisters des Surrealismus, die für Besucher geöffnet sind.

Esta frontera se encuentra en el mar, que rodea la isla por todas partes, y en ella, hermosas playas y montañas, Palma como ciudad cosmopolita, diferentes pueblos y villas con encanto, bosques, puertos deportivos y un sinfín de posibilidades abiertas a la industria cinematográfica. El buen tiempo es otra de sus prerrogativas: el sol está presente la mayor parte del año y las temperaturas moderadas facilitan los rodajes. Por este motivo, desde hace más de un siglo, el número de cintas producidas en Mallorca va en aumento, paralelamente al incremento de su calidad y reconocimiento internacional. Es el caso de una de las últimas producciones, Cloud Atlas (2012), que congregó a actores como Tom Hanks y Halle Berry en una supuesta isla del Pacífico, pero que en realidad era nuestra isla. La presencia de actores importantes en Mallorca viene de lejos. Ya en la década de los 60, Sean Connery y Gina Lollobrigida rodaron La Mujer de Paja (1963). IX ORIS RALLY CLÁSICO ISLA MALLORCA

uerto Portals ha vuelto a ser el centro de operaciones del IX Oris Rally Clásico Isla Mallorca, una prueba que ya se ha convertido en una referencia en Europa dentro del circuito de coches clásicos, y que ha concitado a cientos de personas todos los días en el puerto para asistir, en vivo, a la salida y llegada de los competidores. En esta edición, los ganadores fueron los españoles Galiana, en Competición, y Ochogavías en Regularidad. Con diferentes tramos cronometrados que recorren toda la isla durante tres días, el Oris Rally Clásico Isla Mallorca es una combinación de competición y placer que llena de emoción y colorido las carreteras de la isla. El colofón a esta edición fue una multitudinaria cena en el restaurante Wellies de Puerto Portals, donde tuvo lugar la entrega de premios a los triunfadores de esta edición.

This year the winners were the Spaniards Galiana (Competition) and Ochogavías (Regularity). With different timed stages that cover the whole island over three days, the Oris Rally Clásico Isla Mallorca is a combination of competition and pleasure which fills the island’s roads with excitement and colour. uerto Portals war erneut Gastgeber und Fahrerlager der Oldtimer-Rallye Isla Mallorca, die zum neunten Mal stattfand. Die Rallye ist eines der bedeutendsten europäischen Oldtimer-Rennen. Hunderte Gäste kamen zum Hafen, um den Start und den Einlauf der Fahrzeuge live mitzuerleben. Die Rallye, die an drei Tagen auf verschiedenen Streckenabschnitten quer über die Insel führte, gewannen in diesem Jahr die Spanier Galiana (Wettrennen) und Ochogavías (Zeitfahren). Die Oris-Rallye Isla Mallorca ist die perfekte, farbenfrohe Mischung aus Rennsport und Unterhaltung, wo nostalgische Gefühle hohe Wellen schlagen. Höhepunkt der diesjährigen Ausgabe war die Siegerehrung im Restaurant Wellies im Hafen von Puerto Portals vor einem dicht gedrängten Publikum.

II AQUATLON PUERTO PORTALS

l 1 de septiembre se celebra el II Aquatlon Puerto Portals, tras la exitosa primera convocatoria del pasado año, en la que participaron más de 250 personas. Se trata de una prueba que combina atletismo y natación, en total seis kilómetros corriendo y uno nadando. La parte a pie se desarrolla íntegramente en las instalaciones del Puerto, y la parte a nado en la vecina playa de S’Oratori. Los interesados pueden inscribirse en las diferentes categorías como general, junior, veteranos, senior y relevos.

This is a trial that combines athletics and swimming – a total of six kilometres running and one swimming. The running part is held entirely within the port’s installations, and the swimming part on the neighbouring beach of S’Oratori.
