Most of the farmers affected by the Fraser Valley flooding in November 2021 have received some or all of the compensation from the provincial government, according to Pam Alexis, Minister of Agriculture and Food. Some complex cases have slowed some application processes down, but the ministry is committed to working and helping the Fraser Valley through the complications, she adds.

“The applications that have not received compensation are likely to have another visit by the ministry to gather information to make sure that compensation is possible,” Alexis says, adding that the federal government has been committed since the beginning of the flood recovery.

The new Minister of Management and Climate Readiness Bowinn Ma, alongside Alexis, is currently working on the list of priority infrastructure projects submitted by the City of Abbotsford to protect the community and the farmlands that need to be protected.

“There is a federal and provincial committee that’s looking at this, and has done

right since the very beginning,” Alexis said. “I expect there will be some news shortly on what is going to be tackled first.”

Alexis urges farmers to continue to grow and take the proper support to protect their farms and to reach out to the ministry on how to protect their crops. Her mandate from the premier has been clear on growing BC’s local food production, and the ministry is looking for new ways to increase support for farmers to produce and safely produce during climate change.

Commemorative Komagata Maru Way highlights Abbotsford’s humanitarian connection to the historical tragedy

The City of Abbotsford, in collaboration with the Khalsa Diwan Society and the South Asian Studies Institute, is memorializing and honouring the tragic Komagata Maru incident of 1914, by commemoratively renaming a section of South Fraser Way to Komagata Maru Way. Three new interpretive panels will also be unveiled outside at the National Historic Site Gur Sikh Temple, highlighting the humanitarian efforts of Abbotsford’s Sikh community who provided for passengers left stranded aboard the Komagata Maru steamship while it sat in the Burrard Inlet from May to July 1914.

The commemorative street renaming, between Fairlane Street to Ware Street, serves to honour 352 passengers of the Komagata Maru who were denied entry into Canada due to the

government’s application of racist and exclusionary immigration laws and essentially kept as ship-bound prisoners for two full months before being sent back to India. During that time, members of Abbotsford’s Sikh community provided and organized delivery of food, water and other provisions for the stranded passengers, who were mostly from the Punjab Province of India, and raised funds for legal aid to challenge the government’s refusal to allow them to disembark the ship. The installation of the new interpretive panels, which were designed by the South Asian Studies Institute with support from the Descendants of the Komagata Maru Society, aims to honour the important role the Abbotsford Sikh community played during the ordeal.

“The commemorative renaming of part of such a prominent street in Abbotsford to Komagata Maru Way acknowledges the tragic event of the Komagata Maru and highlights the incredible humanitarian response of Abbotsford’s Sikh community who rallied together to help those left stranded,” said Abbotsford Mayor Ross Siemens. “As the cultural and

to build a more peaceful and tolerant tomorrow.”

The commemorative street renaming and unveiling of the panels takes place on Saturday, July 22 at the Gur Sikh Temple in the City’s centre and residents are welcome to join at 1:00 p.m. A new exhibition showcasing the transnational story of BC and the

economic Hub of the Fraser Valley, we strive to embrace all the unique cultures, backgrounds and groups that make up our city, and that includes recognizing the historical discrimination and injustice some members of our community experienced. It also reminds us of the important role we all play in fostering a more inclusive and connected city, where everyone is welcome.”

”The commemorative renaming of South Fraser Way, between Fairlane Street and Ware Street, to Komagata Maru Way and the Komagata Maru plaque will help inform the community and remind us of how unique Canada’s and Abbotsford’s diverse makeup is,” said Raj Singh Toor, Vice President of Descendants of the Komagata Maru Society. “We are all richer when we remember how special it is to have so many different ethnic communities living together. I hope that it will help to connect Canadians, British Columbians and Abbotsford residents with their past

contributions of the Sikh community in the early 1900s is also opening on July 22, at the Sikh Heritage Museum.

“This exhibit is a fitting tribute to the early Sikh immigrants living in Abbotsford as we honour and record their struggles and their triumphs in equal measure,” said Dr. Satwinder Bains of South Asian Studies Institute. “Their steadfast commitment to social justice against such great odds is to be commended. Today, we are the beneficiaries of their long-sighted vision to help make Canada a better place for all of us. We hope whoever interacts with the exhibit will pause and reflect on the critically important role of local citizens over a hundred years ago, and work to prevent unjust laws and discrimination to find a place in our society.”

Residents wanting to learn more about the commemorative street renaming, as well as Abbotsford’s connection to the Komagata Maru event can email culture@abbotsford.ca.

Annual report updates collective efforts to achieve objectives of UN Declaration

B.C. is providing detailed reporting about progress to achieve the objectives of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UN

Canada, the plan includes actions in the areas of self-determination and self-government, rights and title, ending anti-Indigenous racism, and enhancing social, cultural and economic

Declaration) through the 2022-23 Declaration Act Annual Report.

“We were the first government in Canada to release an action plan dedicated to implementing the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples,” said Murray Rankin, Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation and minister responsible for the Declaration Act Secretariat. “It’s been one year since the launch of the Declaration Act Action Plan, and this annual report will be the first to begin detailing progress about the 89 specific actions to be taken over five years of the plan. In year one, 32 actions are completed or underway, and as we work in partnership with Indigenous Peoples, we are creating real and lasting change that is building a brighter future for everyone.”

The Declaration Act Action Plan, released on March 30, 2022, is a five-year, cross-government action plan that is guiding the Province’s work to implement the UN Declaration in B.C. The first of its kind in

well-being for Indigenous Peoples.

Details of the work underway are highlighted in the Province’s redesigned Declaration Act website, as well as comprehensive reporting about progress and indicators. This year, rather than a standard PDF report, the Province has taken the Declaration Act Annual Report online.

The new digital-first presentation responds to input received from Indigenous partners seeking a more collaborative, accessible and accountable approach to reporting. As a result of the continued partnership with Indigenous leaders and experts, the 2022-23 Declaration Act annual report features voices and experiences of Indigenous Peoples throughout B.C., as well as artwork by Sheldon Pierre Louis, a syilx (Okanagan) multi-disciplinary artist.

The website also features the work of the Declaration Act Secretariat –established in 2022 – and provides an update about progress to align provincial laws with the UN Declaration.

The Patrika Auto Review: 2023

Mazda CX-30 GT Turbo AWD: Sporty – And a Joy to Drive!

The 2023 CX-30 is a compact CUV offering from Mazda that slots in between the CX-3 and CX-5. Front- engined with as standard All-Wheel Drive. The CX-30 with its five- door format adopts Mazda’s Kodo design language and is a graceful, lithe- looking vehicle. The CX-30 with a host of standard features, and a choice of either normal or Turbo 4 -cylinder engine. For 2023, the Mazda CX-30’s non-turbo Skyactiv-G 2.5L engine with 5 extra horsepower and slightly lower combined fuel economy rating.

Depending on your CX-30 trim, there are three Mazda Skyactiv different engines available to choose. The base CX-30 GX come with a 2.0-liter 155-horse power four-cylinder unit under the hood. The GS or GT version adds a 2.5-liter 186-horsepower engine. Meanwhile the CX-30 GT Turbo arrives with 250 horsepower unit. A six-speed transmission is standard. Models start with the GX: $27,050, GS: $30,350, GT $36,550 and the GT Turbo at $38,950 plus options, destination, and taxes. Note that all CX-30 Models arrive with i- Active AWD as standard issue which is an excellent addition o n Mazda’s part.

Our 2023 GT Turbo AWD version (base priced at $38,550) came with standard equipment featuring: SKYACTIV-G 2.5L engine with Dynamic pressure turbo,, SKYACTIV-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode and Drive Selection switch, and paddle shifters. There is also: G-Vectoring Control Plus, 18-inch gunmetal alloy wheels, push button start, Mazda Connect with 8.8-inch display. As standard is the HMI commander, rear-view camera, power moonroof, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, leather-trimmed upholstery, 10-way power driver seat (includes power lumbar support), and full LED exterior lighting. Also added was navigation system, Bose Audio system with 12 speakers, automatic climate controls, advanced keyless entry, and a power liftgate.

Comprehensive safety features on the GT Turbo included: Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Pedestrian Detection, High Beam Control, Forward Obstruction Warning, Smart

City Brake Support, Smart Brake Support, Smart Brake Support Rear, Smart Brake Support Rear-Crossing, rear parking sensors, colour windshieldprojected Active Driving Display.

The interior layout is as usual typical Mazda with its sports orientated neat, uncluttered design. There is a nice sporty gauge cluster and the dash is a of a multi-tier two tone design with a contrasting trim that looks very cool. Slivers of brushed aluminum trim pieces add a very upmarket feel. I also liked the use of supple leather type material instead of hard plastics used in the cabin doors, dash, and center armrest. The front seat are well designed with just the right amount of cushioning. Mazda has an updated version of its infotainment system, using a high resolution 8.8-inch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android.

Review by Veeno Dewan. ing, keeping understeer under control. The all-wheel-drive system offer superb traction. The suspension is taut, offering minimal body roll, while the responsive steering offers agile handling, the hallmark of all Mazda’s. There are paddle shifters and a Sport mode, which does ratchet up the response by holding the gears longer. With the help of cylinder deactivation, the CX-30 is able to achieve fuel consumption ratings of 10.5 L/100km city and 7.9L/100km highway. Not a lot to complain about – If you are in the market for a sporty, fun- to drive smaller compact CUV – The CX-30 is worth taking a look at. Highly recommended.

Rear seating position is excellent as well with good headroom. However, legroom for adult passengers is a bit tight. Cargo capacity is an especially useful 572L of space behind the rear seats, this increases to 1,280L with the back seats folded down. Rear cargo access is via a generously wide door and a low load floor to make it easier to place large and heavy items.

On the road, the CX-30 Turbo is a joy to drive. The sporty exhaust note, willing drivetrain and deft, nippy handling means an entertaining drive all the time. The addition of i-ACTIV all-wheel-drive ensures stability in all conditions. Meanwhile, the six-speed automatic transmission delivers power to all four wheels via Mazda’s i-Activ intelligent on-demand all-wheel-drive system. Acceleration is good on high ways, the SKYACTIV engines light weight and advanced engineering coupled with a well- geared transmis sion means the CX-30 feels willing all the time. Yes, additional power would be nice for more top end torque, but nothing major here in terms of every day sporty or around town driving.

The CX-30’s sport driving experience is enhanced by the Mazda’s G-Vector ing Control system Plus, which reduces engine torque, and adjusts steering and throttle inputs to add slight weight on the front wheels to make the steering feel firmer and more direct. The result is sharpened handling during corner-

Price as tested: $43,250 Including options, freight and PDE.

5 outdoor cleaning tips to get your home in tip-top shape

(NC) Whether you love projects around the yard or would rather be lounging with a good book or TV show, sprucing up your home’s exterior does more than make it pleasing to the eye.

Simple, year-round maintenance will help you avoid costly problems down the line, such as rot or insects spreading indoors. Here are a few easy and important steps.

Clean your eavestroughs

All sorts of weather conditions can wreak havoc on your gutters. If water runs back toward your foundation or pools on the roof, it may lead to water damage inside your home. Give your eavestroughs and downspouts a careful look every season. Clear any debris and make any repairs.

Wash your siding

Pressure washers are handy for cleaning the outside of your home. If you don’t own one, you may be able to borrow one from a friend or rent one. Check for any blisters, cracks or prob-

lem areas in your siding and fix them up to prevent rot.

Refresh your air conditioner

Shut off power to the outdoor unit and clean debris from the grill/cage and the fan to prevent clogging and subpar performance. Rake around the unit and cut back surrounding branches for a clean look and to allow for proper airflow.

Inspect the deck

Wooden decks, including railings and stairs, require staining every few years to look their best and protect against the elements. Decks can be pressure washed but remember to keep the sprayer moving for a thorough clean. Be sure to examine deck posts and support beams for signs of rotting, too.

Tidy the landscaping

Low lying areas of your lawn should have additional soil laid down to prevent pooling of rainwater. You should also trim your bushes and trees as required to help avoid future storm damage.

United Truckers Association Stands with ILWU Canada in Labour Disruption

Encourages federal government to intervene without back-to-work legislation

The United Truckers Association (“UTA”) attended two rallies in support of ILWU Canada this past weekend to show solidarity for our striking brothers and sisters.

The main message delivered by UTA spokesperson Gagan Singh on stage was the perils of an imposed settlement based on the UTA’s experience from the 2014 Port of Vancouver labour disruption.

“ILWU is fighting for Canada’s supply chain to function smoothly and for our country’s global competitiveness, and the UTA is warning the federal government not to make the same mistake they did with 2014’s imposed settlement,” says Singh. “It is nearly a decade later, and the federal government has

failed to live up to its commitments from the 2014 Joint Action Plan, with our members continuing to suffer as a result.”

The UTA continues to be the local drayage sector’s main advocate for fairness in advocacy with the Port of Vancouver and all levels of government, which is a mandate that includes support for the ILWU’s current demands.

With the Port of Vancouver ranking 347 out of 348 global ports in a recent study, it is critical to have labour that offers flexibility and problem-solving to maintain maximum efficiency in operations. As a result, automation that eliminates jobs is not a solution that the UTA can support.

Further, the federal government’s interest in prices for Canadians remained silent and inactive when shipping companies exponentially

increased prices in the months following the outbreak of Covid-19. Hence, there is no reason for any imposed settlement now in the name of consumer protection.

The UTA is warning the federal government of potential escalation of disruption should they consider any kind of imposition of settlement.

“Even though our members are suffering with the lack of work and earnings to support their families at the moment, we remain steadfast in our support of fair and equitable bargaining between parties,” adds Singh. “The federal government should strongly consider the strength of support for ILWU members before they get involved in a unilateral fashion.”

B.C. strengthens community preparedness for climate-related disasters

First Nations and local governments throughout B.C. will benefit from funding to help strengthen resilience against climate-related hazards, such as flooding, drought, wildfires and heat.

“With the severe flooding, drought and wildfires we’ve experienced recently, we are seeing direct impacts of climate change here in B.C.,” said Bowinn Ma, Minister of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness. “We’re investing in mitigation projects across the province so we can reduce the risk of disasters when they happen. These projects will help communities better protect themselves against climate-related events and increase their resilience in the long run to keep people across B.C safer.”

The Province is providing more than $44 million through the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund (CEPF), which will go to more than 70 projects in 63 communities under the Disaster Risk Reduction-Climate Adaptation program stream. These investments also support the Province’s Climate Preparedness and Adaptation Strategy, which outlines a broad range of actions until 2025 to address climate impacts and build resilience across B.C. Funding may be used toward: risk mapping, risk assessments and planning (such as the development of a hazard map); land-use planning (amendments to relevant plans, bylaws or policies); purchasing equipment (such as monitoring equipment);

delivering community education; and small-scale structural projects.

More than $1.76 million is being provided to the City of Grand Forks for a flood-mitigation project that includes channel excavation, installation of 82 fish habitat structures and planting 45,000 trees and shrubs along the channel banks and riparian area along the Kettle River.

“Natural assets – things like wetlands and riparian forests –have an enormous role to play in reducing our risk from natural disasters such as flooding and wildfires,” said Roly Russell, MLA for Boundary-Similkameen.

“It’s great to see the City of Grand Forks prioritizing investment into these natural assets, and our government is proud to support the city and other communities as they work to mitigate disaster risk.”

The Province’s investment is part of the larger North Ruckle floodplain naturalization and habitat offset project, which will reduce the risk of floods in the city. Approximately 3,000 Boundary-area residents were ordered to evacuate in May 2018 when the Kettle River overflowed its banks.

“Mitigation work completed in Grand Forks since the flood in 2018 has already proved itself fully during this year’s freshet season,” said Everett Baker, mayor of Grand Forks. “Restoring the floodplain will create important room for the river to flood and this funding will help us meet requirements to replace or restore habitats impacted by dike construction.”

Among the other projects throughout B.C. receiving funding from the CEPF program are: installing a waterline and reservoir that will reduce the impacts of drought on the community for the Kanaka Bar Indian Band, including reducing fire risk, as well as social, health, ecosystem and food system stress;

completing a bank stabilization project that includes a headwall and pond at the outfall of a pipe along the Xget’tem’ Trail in Kamloops, which will prevent further erosion of the trail during rainfall; flood risk mitigation planning to help reduce runoff and unpredictable flow paths for the Giants Head Basin, as well as upgrading a spillway for the Isintok Dam to reduce the risk of dam failure during an extreme flooding event in the district of Summerland; risk-management practice and policy development for Nelson, including creating a framework for consistent, risk-informed decisions; Nelson’s 2019 hazard, risk and vulnerability analysis (HRVA) identified wildfire, severe weather and extreme weather including drought as the city’s top three hazards; raising the Mountview Dike alongside the Elk River to flood construction levels to prevent flooding in Fernie; and completing risk mapping, a risk assessment and a mitigation and response plan for Metchosin specific to shoreline erosion, flooding, drought implications and increasing storm severity.

In February 2023, the Province provided $180 million to CEPF, bringing the total provincial investment in the program to $369 million since its establishment in 2017. More than $163 million has been provided to First Nations and local governments through CEPF for over 1,500 projects that help communities mitigate and prepare for disasters and climate-related emergencies. The CEPF is administered by the Union of BC Municipalities on behalf of the Province.

In response to the growing number of climaterelated emergencies in B.C., the Province also launched ClimateReadyBC, which provides hazard and mapping tools, risk data and resources to help communities better prepare for future disasters and climate emergencies.

Intake for the current Disaster Risk ReductionClimate Adaptation program stream is open until Oct. 6, 2023.

Sneaky ways to add protein to your diet

(NC) Found in staples like meat, eggs and legumes such as beans and lentils, protein helps build and repair muscle and tissue. The amount of protein you need varies from person to person, but the Canada Food Guide recommends that it makes up about one quarter of every meal and snack. Here’s how to get protein into every meal of the day – without relying on meat.

1. Go Greek

Thick and creamy Greek (or Balkan or Scandinavian style) yogurt typically has more protein than the average tub of traditional yogurt. It’s a great way to pack some staying power into breakfast. And there are plenty of vegan varieties if you’re dairy-

free or lactose intolerant. Just avoid super-high fat content or extra sugar and additives whatever you choose. Top it with fresh fruit and granola or museli cereal for a complete meal, or use it in potato salads, dips and baked goods instead of mayo or oil to sneak in extra protein and reduce fat without losing out on taste or texture.

2. Roast chickpeas

Stick a sheet pan of drained and rinsed chickpeas in the oven at 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) for about 40 minutes. Give them a stir about halfway through and you’ll find they come out deliciously crispy. Use them to make summer salads a little more filling or snack on them by the handful. They are a naturally protein- and fibre-rich way to stop hunger pangs from striking. Before roasting, coat them in a teaspoon of oil and your favourite spices and herbs –maybe paprika and garlic salt or simply salt and pepper – so they pack a punch of satisfying flavour too.

3. Level up your bread

Adding peanut butter, cream cheese or a sliced egg to your toast is classic. But if you prefer plain buttered toast for breakfast, or want a meat-free way to add oomph to sandwiches, sprouted grain bread can be a great way to pack in natural protein without nut butter, dairy or eggs. Silver Hills Bakery’s Big 16 sprouted grain bread, for example, has a whopping 12 grams of plant-based protein to help keep your energy and focus steady throughout

the day. Sprouting the grains makes more fibre and vitamins easily available to your body.

If you have not been keeping up to date with work that needs to be done much pressure will arise as a result. You will not be able to leave it any longer. This could also apply to any laziness when it comes to looking after your health and general well being. Getting a new foundation in place can be easier than you anticipate.

Let go of anything that doesn’t seem to fit with what you want in the future. There will be a greater desire to free yourself up personally but this won’t happen without making some decisions. There needs to be a basis of practicality when it comes to what you can actually manage. Over-extending yourself will not get you anywhere.

New things could start to become important to you, especially if finances are involved. These are decisions you need to make for yourself and not in response to pressure from what others expect. There is no way of escaping certain obligations but you need to take action in deciding on how you are going to take care of them.

The New Moon this week occurs in your own sign and with it can come some insight into what you should aim for long term. This will likely mean some sort of endings with a person or people in your life now. Not that the whole picture will be clear just yet. Practical information or fact gathering could be necessary for a while yet.

Be cautious with decision making this week as you could be easily inclined to over commit yourself. This could occur because there are hidden aspects and in your enthusiasm they will be easily overlooked. Some sort of difficulty or disagreement could arise over money matters and especially so if money has been owed a while.

You may need to stand your ground when it comes to something important to you on a personal level as you meet opposition from somebody who feels they have greater authority in some way. The main thing is to remain mentally optimistic when it comes to changes you want to make in the future. Be patient and resist pressure.

Somebody else does not necessarily have your best interests in mind and for this reason you need to be very cautious when it comes to taking on any new responsibilities. They could end up being a lot more work, which could prove overwhelming in the end. You need to remain mindful of your own priorities.

It might be time to take a more serious approach to what takes precedence in your life. This could mean cutting back on things you like to do or have but are not really a true necessity. The opportunity to enjoy the company of others who are out of the ordinary in some way could generate new directions in your life in the future.

You can be put under pressure to take responsibility for something that needs to be put into place, which might mean a bit of work you would rather not have to do. You could learn something useful and might even benefit from the way somebody else handles similar situations. It will leave you clear to focus on future plans.

New directions with other people can take shape. This could prove rather insightful for you, giving you a sense that there needs to be some sort of definiteness or finality established. Your thoughts and decisions need to be practical and you would be better not to consider anything that could be risk taking in the future.

If you are not happy with regular routines, you could now have the opportunity to inject new life into them. This can be associated with leaving the past behind in some way and entering into situations that are very much out of the ordinary. People you meet as a result might be a bit over the top but just enjoy the company.

If there is somebody around you with a dominant attitude, it could very well come to a head this week. Don’t let your emotions get the better of you. It is possible to control yourself and remain calm and poised on the surface at least. You have the knowledge at your disposal to simply deal with the facts. That will win out in the end.

What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a medical system based on the belief that the body can cure itself. Those who practice it use tiny amounts of natural substances, like plants and minerals. They believe these stimulate the healing process. It was developed in the late 1700s in Germany. It’s common in many European countries, but it’s not quite as popular in the United States.

During your appointment, a homeopath will ask a number of questions about your mental, emotional, and physical health. They’ll prescribe the remedy that best matches all of your symptoms. Then they’ll tailor the treatment for you.

You can also buy over-the-counter homeopathic remedies at drugstores and health food stores. The dosage

How Does It Work?

A basic belief behind homeopathy is “like cures like.” In other words, something that brings on symptoms in a healthy person can -- in a very small dose -- treat an illness with similar symptoms. This is meant to trigger the body’s natural defenses. For example, red onion makes your eyes water. That’s why it’s used in homeopathic remedies for allergies. Treatments for other ailments are made from poison ivy, white arsenic, crushed whole bees, and an herb called arnica.

Homeopathic doctors (who also are called “homeopaths”) weaken these ingredients by adding water or alcohol. Then they shake the mixture as part of a process called “potentization.” They believe this step transfers the healing essence. Homeopaths also believe that the lower the dose, the more powerful the medicine. In fact, many of these remedies no longer contain any molecules of the original substance. They come in a variety of forms, like sugar pellets, liquid drops, creams, gels, and tablets.

and quality of these products depend on the manufacturer.

What Conditions Does Homeopathy Treat?

It’s used for a wide variety of health issues, including some chronic illnesses:

Allergies

Migraines

Depression

Chronic fatigue syndrome

Rheumatoid arthritis

Irritable bowel syndrome

can also be used for minor issues like bruises, scrapes, toothaches, headaches, nausea, coughs, and colds. Don’t use homeopathic medicine for life-threatening illnesses, like asthma, cancer, and heart disease, or any disease. The consultation is free

Now with age, the ridicule has lessened : Amitabh

Amitabh Bachchan, a renowned Bollywood actor known for a career spanning over 190 films, talked about the shifting perception of criticism levelled at him as he approached the later phase of his life. In a blog post, Big B discussed how the criticism thrown at him had gradually faded over time. As he approaches his 81st birthday in October, the actor through his recent blog talked about how it reflects on the shift in public opinion. Big B discussed the criticism he has received over the years and how it has now faded. In his personal blog,

Amitabh Bachchan commented on how "ridicule has lessened" with age. He wrote "Now with age, the ridicule has lessened. Those who are asked or involved in discussions about me now understand that I am 81 years old, old, feeble, and senile.” Big B talking about the same topic shared, “They bear with me, thinking it won't be for long. The responses I receive carry a sense of sympathy, as if they think, 'poor guy, he is so uninformed, let him be,' and so on." "Moreover, I have developed the audacity to address and express issues that I might not have done before. This fearlessness has reached a stage where I voice matters that were previously unheard of,” the actor added. In his blog post, Sr Bachchan discussed how he has learned to freely share his ideas and beliefs.

Actress Madhoo has been away from the showbiz for a long time now. She made her mark with her stellar performances in movies like Roja, Yodha, Zaalim and Yeshwant among several others. However, she left the film industry at the peak of her career in the 90s because she was unhappy with the roles she was getting. She recently called out ageism in films and set the record straight once and for all. During a recent event in Chennai, Madhoo said that she has absolutely no interest in playing Ajay Devgn's mother on the big screen, in a possible scenario. She argued that they both were launched together in the industry with their 1991 film Phool Aur Kaante and are of similar age. She then recalled that during the 90s, heroes dominated the scene in action films and her roles mainly involved

Of late, Tamannaah Bhatia and Vijay Varma are getting asked a lot of questions about their relationship. Though both being private people, Tamannaah and Vijay haven’t shied away from talking about it. In a new interview, Tamannaah opened up about whether it is tough to see their relationship being put under the microscope. The Babli Bouncer actress said she has come to a point where she felt like there’s no need to hide. When she was asked about her equation with Vijay in their relationship, Tamannaah

replied, “He is a wonderful human being and an equal partner. I think he has a lot of strong women in his life and I feel likethat’s what it takes...when you respect those strong women, you respect your woman as well. And that’s what I feel the younger generation needs to learn. We teach sons how to treat women instead of asking women how they should behave with men around them.” “I cannot enter any equation where women are expected to compromise on their most basic feelings,” asserts the actress.

always been betrayed in

Though she was said to be in a relationship with late Sidharth Shukla since their days in Bigg Boss 13, they never confirmed it on a public platform. Shehnaaz recently opened up about experiencing heartbreak in her life. When Shehnaaz was asked if she has ever been betrayed in love, she told an entertainment portal that she has never betrayed anyone but everybody has betrayed her and she has always been the one to be dumped. She further said that when a person comes to know that their partner has a roving eye, then you take one step back.

dancing, delivering a few romantic lines, and shedding tears with parents. While she enjoyed dancing, she was deeply unhappy with this shift after doing a film like Roja. Citing Tabu’s example, Madhoo said that she is grateful for the positive changes that the industry has undergone and she credited the web space for changing the mindset of the storytellers. However, she said that getting meaty roles are difficult for women of a certain age even now.

Kiara winning heartsas victim of date rape

With Satyaprem Ki Katha successfully following in the footsteps of yet another midbudget movie (Zara Hatke Zara Bachke) and all set to recover its budget, netizens have been unanimous in their praise of Kiara Advani’s performance in the film. The story of the film is centred on the relevant and sensitive subject of date rape and its aftermath, and Kiara enhances it with her performance, becoming the voice of abused women. The social media is brimming over with messages from cinephiles applauding the actress for having the sensibility and courage to portray the truth with so much soul. Applauding the acting prowess of Kiara, netizens couldn’t stop praising the emotional scenes. Priyanka brutally trolled for her ‘fake demeanour’

Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who made her debut at Emmys in 2016, got brutally trolled on social media recently. A Reddit user dropped a video of the Aitraaz actress from the red carpet of Emmys 2016 where she talked about Indian cinema. In the video Priyanka said, “With Indian movies everything is about hips and chests” and then showed a few moves as well. But, PeeCee’s description about Indian movies irked netizens on social media. One user wrote, “I know there are a lot of issues with Indian movie industry but the way she constantly sh*t talks about it on an international platform is so annoying. Plus the image she presents is so outdated. She does it for brownie points there & that makes me more annoyed lol.” Another one commented, “I’m an American and she’s not popular or liked by other Americans here. I never hear anyone talk about except possibly to say she’s Nick Jonas’ wife. One even wrote, “Nothing trashier than a self loathing racist.” Another one commented, “Her whole demeanour is so fake, from the hair on her head to her toe nail.” The Quantico actress also faced a massive backlash on social media recently for saying that she has not watched SS Rajamouli’s RRR.
