Silesian forests struggle with close vicinity of the industry. Blachówka quarry in Bytom and Betoniarnia water reservoir in Łabędy Forest District are just few examples of environmental damage caused by industry. Betoniarnia was exploited as gravel and sand mine. In the 30ties of the last century disused basin was filled with water.

Forest protection and utilization Forest officer profession requires reasonable resource management. Trees are earmarked for logging after reaching cutting age. It means anticipation of natural dieback process and removal of parts of forests where the growth is in decline, thus creating space for young trees. Forest protection is extremely important within areas with pure pine stands, which occur in Brynek Forest Inspectorate. Such activities include protection against pest insects realized by application of pheromone traps and fire safety.
Timber obtained from logging is measured, assessed qualitatively, entered into records and sold.
