Greetings!
Thank you for connecting with our Leisure Magazine—Prince William County’s go-to source for all things recreation. As the crisp autumn air ushers out the sweltering heat of summer, it’s the perfect time to bask in the beauty of nature’s living room and rekindle your love for the great outdoors. From the Potomac River to the Bull Run mountains, Prince William County offers a 350-square-mile park system as diverse as the fiery hues of the changing leaves. You are bound to find options to suit your individual liking and ability. Choose from over 55 parks, 50 miles of trail, 15 historic sites, 3 golf courses, and over 100 programs and special events.
We are excited to introduce numerous new attractions this fall including a mountain bike skills course at Locust Shade Park, the Harbor Drive Wellness Park complete with a universal playground and fitness stations, and an 18-hole disc golf course at Forest Greens Park, which was developed in partnership with the Northern Virginia Disc Golf Club.
The fall season is brimming with new and time-honored events such as the Kids for Kids Triathlon on Sept 18th at the Chinn Aquatic and Fitness Center, the Neabsco Boardwalk Holiday Light show running from late November through December, the Brentsville Bluegrass Festival on September 17th , Arts Alive! at the Hylton Performance Arts Center on September 11th, the Great Pumpkin Party on October 21st at the Dale City Aquatic Fitness Center, and the Murder Mystery play at Rippon Lodge on October 8th. In ad dition, we offer dozens of sports, wellness, and educational programs such as tai chi, birding, computer animation, dance, golf, babysitting, archery, baking, basketball, and kayaking, just to name just a few! We are pleased to offer a growing array of adaptive programs including aquatic Zumba, baking classes, bas ketball, and baseball via the new Miracle League. In addition to the Dale City Farmer’s Market on Sunday mornings, come check out our new Thursday afternoon Prince William Market at Mid-County Park near Pfitzner Stadium between 3-7pm for a wide selection of artisan goods and the freshest produce in Prince William County.

• Full payment required at registration.
• A $50 fee is charged for all returned checks.
• All Parks & Recreation classes/programs are based on meeting a minimum enrollment. If this is not met, classes will be subject to cancellation. For this reason, customers are encouraged to register early for any class in which they are interested in.
• All class participants will be notified if their class has been canceled or schedule has changed.
• To cancel a class, please contact the center at which your class is held.
• PWC Parks & Recreation programs, services and facilities are available to all citizens. For additional information regarding accommodations and support provided to facilitate participation for individuals with disabilities, please contact one of our registration sites to speak with a program manager to discuss your needs or visit our web site for our inclusion guidelines and forms.

Refund Policy
• 100% of payment will be refunded if the PWC Parks & Recreation Department cancels a class due to insufficient enrollment.
• A $10 cancellation fee will be charged.
• Failure to give proper notice will result in forfeiture of all fees.
• If canceling from a class/program a 7-day notice must be given and confirmed prior to the start of the class/program from which you are canceling.

Golf Course:
This beautiful Par 3 challenge 9-hole course offers oversized bentgrass greens & tees in a relaxing, wooded park setting. Lake Ridge Park’s course is great for beginners and experienced golfers looking for a shorter, demand ing game. Contact the Golf Course for tee times, hours, fees and booking special events.
Marina, Boating And Fishing: Marina is open April to October and is enjoyed by families, individuals, scout groups, school groups and is available for business outings. Both bank and boat fishing are permitted with a valid fishing license. The reservoir provides good fishing for large-mouth bass, bluegill, and catfish. Bring your own boat (max. 9.9hp) and launch from our ramp or rent one of our many jon boats, canoes, kayaks, stand up

Local vendors (fixers) give their time to evaluate small household appliances, bicycles, clothing, or furniture, determine if the item(s) can be repaired and hopefully repair them onsite. Any community members interested in having an item examined must make an appointment through the Prince William Public Libraries website (https://pwcgov.libnet.info/events) and give a brief description of what is wrong with the item. The day of the event, bring your item, check in at the registration table, sign a waiver form, and meet your vendor for your appointment.
Vendors reserve the right to determine if something cannot be repaired within the 45-minute appointment window, or if it cannot be repaired at all.

Ages 2-7
This program introduces basic sport skills, like running, kicking and throwing through gross motor play. We will use a variety of games, songs, and props to develop fine and gross motor skills needed for sports. This program is designed for children with and without disabilities. It is a fun way for children to get fit and learn healthy habits while they improve their sports skills.
ADAPTED PROGRAM
This class is specifically designed for adolescents with disabilities. Research shows that teaching yoga to youth can help improve behavior, attention, focus, and social skills. Physically, it can increase strength, coordination, bilateral integration, and even fine motor skills. Class is built around feeling, imagination, exploration, and play while practicing Yoga. Class will be conducted by a teacher certified in disability Yoga Training.

■ MIRACLE LEAGUE
Ages 5-99
The Miracle League Program promotes physical and mental well-being fitness opportunities for the Miracle League players and their families in Prince William County. The program works to eliminate the main barriers for these youth and adults with mental and physical disabilities that arise from playing on natural grass fields used in conventional leagues. The Miracle League program will play on a custom designed, rubberized surface field at Dr. Richard Tami Miracle Field located at George Hellwig Park, 14420 Bristow Road, Manassas, VA 20112. The Miracle League is about making new friends, building self-esteem and being treated just like other athletes. Provides participants between the ages of 5 - 23, regardless of their ability to play Miracle League Baseball with the opportunity to hit a ball off a batting tee or pitched too depending upon ability, throw, catch a ball and score a run.

In this class, younger students will learn how characters move and look alive in movies and video games! They will be introduced to basic 2D and 3D animation techniques using Minecraft characters and stages. This 4-part clinic is for youth who are specifically interested in competing in the 2022 Kids for Kids Triathlon on September 18. Clinic will help to develop and refine their skills as they train with our certified triathlon coaches who will:
• Teach them what to expect while competing in a multi-sport event
• Teach them swimming, biking and running skills for success in each leg of the event
• Teach them how to transition smoothly and effectively between each leg of the event
• Provide them with a targeted overview of the actual race course.
• Send them home with training plans to help them prepare.

To be best prepared, sign up for the optional Kids for Kids Triathlon Training Clinic which is taught by triathloncertified coaches. In this clinic, kids will learn what to
expect, how to compete in this tri-sport event and how to transition smoothly and effectively from each leg of the event to the next. Plus they’ll be sent home with weekly training plans to help them prepare for the triathlon on September 18th.
All profits will be donated to the Parks Foundation which awards scholarships to underprivileged youth to participate in PWC Parks, Recreation & Tourism programs.

Before the Civil War, enslaved men and women lived and worked at the Ben Lomond farm. Visitors will be able to explore the historic home and the original slave quarter to learn about the daily life of African Americans and can visit spaces not ordinarily open to the public. At Bristoe Station, they lost over 100 men. Learn about the soldiers who comprised this regiment and how the Battle of Bristoe Station affected them.

Bristoe Station Battlefield staff and volunteers will provide guided tours of this hallowed ground that contains camps, cemeteries, and battlefields. One of the most famous figures to emerge from the Civil War was John S. Mosby. Operating behind Federal lines in Northern Virginia, Mosby created a legacy that still resounds today. However, Mosby was not the only band of guerillas in the area; other bands of soldiers from Virginia and South Carolina also operated here. Join historians from Prince William Historic Preservation for a special bus tour that will not only visit Mosby sites, but also other guerrilla sites in Northern Virginia. ■ New and improving players who prefer one-on-one instruction, private & semiprivate lessons, this program is for you! Personal attention while improving kitchen play, placement, ground strokes and serves. Four lessons per session that are tailored to learning and “fine tuning”. Morning meeting times are available throughout the fall and based on instructor availability. Ask about our Open Play schedule. Please call Veterans Memorial Park for availability and pricing for private lessons. A session consists of 4 - 60-minute lessons. The fee is $160 per session. 1 Hour Private $55 per person. • This program is like dancing and swimming together! It teaches teamwork, creativity, and dedication while providing a great workout. Students must be able to swim 2 laps of the pool, be comfortable floating on their backs, and know how to tread water all without any assistance.
