MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD CHAIR

What does “renew” mean for an 85-year-old ministry? All through our history we have grown and flexed with the changing global environment. This year is special. After two years of pandemic travel restrictions, the world has changed, and we’ve been preparing. In 2022 we were grateful to finally bring mission teams to serve alongside international churches. What a sense of joy this brings!

As we move forward, we praise God for sustaining Quiet Hour Ministries through trials, and look to the future for what He will do next. You will see a renewed and refreshed ministry during the coming year.

We invite your continued prayers as we do our part to continue sharing the good news of Jesus with the world.

PERSEVERING THROUGH UNCERTAINTY

How does a “mission trip” ministry work during a pandemic when it isn’t safe, or even allowed, to travel with mission teams?

Going into 2021, we were encouraged by the possibilities of the future, yet disappointed to have no assurances of when we would be able to travel the world with the story of Jesus. We recognized that 2021 would be a year of perseverance through challenges of distancing and other restrictions.

We began the year by claiming a verse from Paul in Philippians 3:14. We determined to “press on” in partnership with world Adventist Church leaders and share the gospel message in any safe and responsible means.

This report is a true testament to the everlasting power of God who continues to guide through storms and expand human efforts. It is gratifying to see how new and diverse methods of evangelism have resulted in reaching more than 500,000 people.

We look to the future with hope and a commitment to following God’s leading.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT/CEO

This milestone year marks a continuation of efforts to improve elements of our ministry infrastructure while advancing ministry momentum. Major steps were taken in several key projects, and work will continue in the coming years to implement enhancements.

The most rewarding stories from the year come from those who were able to personally travel on mission trips. On my planning trip to Guatemala, I met two dedicated gospel workers, José and Jesús. They are both genuine, happy people with a clear passion for Christ. We asked them to lead out in visiting homes in the communities where our mission team would be serving. In addition, they each brought a church member on visits to train them on how to give Bible studies.

I am grateful for the donations that make it possible to provide opportunities for people to share their faith in personal ways, face-to-face, as well as support the dozens of gospel projects around the world.

MISSION TO THE PHILIPPINES

In the fall of 2022, our Global Evangelist, Pastor Dan Smith, and his team shared the gospel in the Philippines during a 4-week, multi-site mission. Together, with a large ministry team they helped baptize over 19,000 people!

Pastor Dan kicked off the mission in Cagayan de Oro on the island of Mindanao. “For this series, we used all new sermons, based on the book of Revelation, all centered around the character of God,” said Pastor Dan.

The response was terrific! 127,000 listened to the meeting, 7,500 young people were reached through Voice of Youth, 2,900 women evangelized through Women’s Ministry, and 7,200 were baptized across Mindanao. “It was all amazing and humbling and an honor to have been a part of,” said Pastor Dan.

Pastor Dan’s next stop was Cavite on the island of Luzon, where he held a Pastor’s Conference and Leadership Training. “We had two thrilling days holding meetings for about 100 pastors, theology majors, and church planters in a chapel on the campus of Adventist University of the Philippines just south of Manila,” said Pastor Dan.

“What we are praying for is to imprint the message of a “gracious God” into the minds and hearts of passionate and terrific young pastors and future leaders,” said Pastor Dan. “It was a holy time, and we hope it will help spread the gospel message all over this area of the Philippines.”

Puerto Princesa, the capital of the island of Palawan, was his final stop. “At this time, we had a team of about 55 people,” said Pastor Dan. “Each morning, smaller teams headed across the island to preach at 22 sites. In the evenings, we held two large, island-wide evangelism series.”

Then it was on to the ocean to baptize 1,062 people. “I was thrilled to be part of a group of 31 ordained pastors baptizing,” said Pastor Dan. “...the lines of people queued up in front of each of us, and we began the process, baptizing 31 at a time!”

A BETTER HOPE FOR THE FUTURE

Now a better hope is introduced by which we draw near to God.

Hebrews 7:19

We have the hope of Hebrews 7:19 for Quiet Hour Ministries, for all of the plans and projects through the next year.

Looking forward, the plan for 2023 represents moving ahead in faith, while keeping a watch on economic realities.

It is expected that the incredible global impact of the past several years will continue on an upward trend.

As we keep our eyes on Jesus, we look forward to sharing a better hope with the world.

You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds, God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas.

MESSAGE FROM THE CFO

Financial statements are one way to show trends and outcomes in a nonprofit organization. However, I am fascinated to see how the numbers can also tell a story about God’s ability to sustain a ministry through any challenge.

It is gratifying to see that increased donations to the ministry have offset the effect of significant market losses on investments. In addition, increases in mission spending have lowered our liability which keeps our liquidity ratio above 100 percent.

The most meaningful part of our financial reporting is seeing how every contribution from our donors is making it possible to reach the world for Christ. I am honored to serve in a ministry that values stewardship of resources for mission.
