“He stood right up from his drum and came into the water,” said Pastor Dan Smith, Quiet Hour Ministries global evangelist.
Trung’s story is one of Pastor Dan’s favorites from when he was recently on the ground in Vietnam.

During this trip, Pastor Dan didn’t have a huge team of people, but that didn’t matter! He was determined to preach the gospel to as many people as possible.
As Pastor Dan Smith made his way around Vietnam preaching about Jesus and growing the kingdom for eternity, he had the great honor of baptizing new believers at every location and connecting them to the local church!
As you know, baptisms are not simply numbers to count—they’re people! Each one is a testimony of a precious soul stepping into a new life in Christ!

Trung was among a group of talented youth playing music at one of Pastor Dan’s evangelism events.
During the service, as new believers lined up and stepped into the watery grave of baptism, the band was suddenly missing one member!
Trung, who was playing the cajón (a Vietnamese drum), had left his instrument to join the line for baptism. And as his fellow musicians continued to play, Trung gave his life to Jesus.
“What a blessing to be the one to baptize that young man!” said Pastor Dan.

March 2023
Cagayan de Oro (on the island of Mindanao)
Pastor Dan, our global evangelist, gave the message at the huge Central Church there, and the team hosted a Week of Prayer at the 1,000-student academy outside of town.
April 2023
Cavite Mission (outside Manilla)
Pastor Dan preached in the brandnew 1,000-seat hall with a 25-foot LED screen. The series was also livestreamed to 4,000 students at nearby Adventist University of the Philippines. The series was broadcast over Hope Channel.
June 2023
Isabella (on the island of Luzon)
A mission-wide campaign, 20 speakers for 20 sites, along with Pastor Dan’s series in the college church.
September 2023
Cebu (in central Philippines)
A Union-wide series with a large team at multiple sites in the Central Philippines Union Conference.

A series for young professionals, where young church planters have started more than a dozen small groups, which have now become actual new churches.

God answers Julian’s prayer—through YOU!
During an evangelism event in the city of Dipolog, Philippines, a young church member named Julian had been assisting Pastor Dan Smith, Quiet Hour Ministries global evangelist.
Julian was excited to be working alongside such an experienced, renowned evangelist.
All week, he’d told Pastor Dan, “My father has finally made the decision to be baptized. He will be here on Sabbath so you can baptize him!”
On the final Sabbath, Pastor Dan joined the other pastors in a public swimming pool that served as the baptismal. For hours, they baptized new believers one by one.
All morning, Julian glanced towards the entrance, hoping to see his father. But as morning stretched into afternoon, his father was nowhere in sight.
Julian was heartbroken. He had been praying for so long.
It’s never too late to say “YES!” to Jesus
As the baptisms concluded, the crowds of joyful believers began to depart. The pastors were almost ready to leave when a man appeared poolside. It was Julian’s father! He was there to be baptized!
Together, the pastors reviewed the fundamental beliefs with Julian’s dad. He answered “Yes!” to each and accepted Jesus as his savior.
With that, Pastor Dan, surrounded by his fellow pastors, baptized Julian’s father.
Julian’s dad’s story is just one of more than 3,500 beautiful stories of people accepting Jesus from that day. You played a part in making each one possible. Thank you!
