PRESIDENT'S LETTER
A Message from the President As we enter the 2018-2019 season, anticipation and excitement are building. The pace and volume of activity - both routine and project-related - are intensifying. Just think that only a year ago, we were reeling from the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma. Now, we are embarking on an exciting direction that will make QCCC unique among southwest Florida country clubs. Call us "The Comeback Club!" Our Mission: While preserving our time-honored amenities and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, we are now creating innovative, integrated programs and facilities that are even more in sync with Members' evolving interests and aspirations - physical, mental and social. To reflect this approach, we have updated the Club's Mission Statement (see page 3). Developed by the Strategic Planning Committee, the Mission was approved by the Board in July and will serve as a guidepost for priority setting and decision making by Club leadership. Project: Progress on the capital project is becoming increasingly visible to Members. As you have learned from our Project Updates, it’s been a very busy summer at QCCC. Improvements to our Golf Practice Facilities - featuring the fill in of the creek - have moved forward nicely and should be wrapped up soon. Temporary trailers are in place for the Golf and Tennis Pro Shops, and the Fitness Center will soon relocate to the current Golf Pro Shop. Temporary massage rooms and the fitness Class Studio are already in use. Our contractor is setting up staging areas on two tennis courts in preparation for demolition of the existing fitness and tennis centers and construction of the new sports/fitness building.

As you might expect, work behind the scenes continues unabated. Both our Strategic Planning Committee and the Construction Committee have been working tirelessly to keep the project on budget and on time. Special thanks to George
Domurot, Gary Evans, Hedy Whitney and Pete Kloet for their continued leadership and hard work on all the details of our project. Kudos also to our Staff who are juggling many balls as they transition to temporary quarters and prepare for demolition and construction -- on top of their ongoing daily responsibilities. We are planning an All-Member Informational Meeting on November 7 to update everyone on the project and other Club business. Mark your calendars! FSGA Championships: In August we hosted the Florida State Golf Association's Women’s Open and Women's Senior Open. QCCC received huge accolades from everyone involved. Kevin Leo and his crew had both courses in fantastic shape and the participants could not have been more complimentary about our Staff and the golf courses. The Naples Daily News featured five articles about the championship, raising the profile and awareness of our great Club. Membership: We continue to see positive traction in our Membership recruiting efforts. As we hoped, the capital project has generated interest in our Club. Nick Gray has done an outstanding job in both developing and signing prospective Members. For the first time since 2005, we have halted the Club's declining Membership trend. Very special thanks to Nick, Joan Bilson, Sonia Hernandez and the Membership & Communications Committee for their contributions. For those of you who are up north, we look forward to your return to beautiful QCCC and Naples soon. We have a very exciting season ahead. Jim Clayton
Please Welcome QCCC’s Newest Members! Our Mission We strive to enrich the lives of our Members through innovative, integrated approaches to physical activity, mental stimulation and social engagement. In sync with their interests and aspirations, we enable Members to play better and longer at their favorite sports and activities, while serving as the hub of their social interactions and friendships.

Update the Clubhouse interior and exterior.
'Bird' is the Word! The feathered residents of QCCC achieved high-flying results in expanding the Club's bird population this nesting season. Brian Beckner of Native Bird Boxes surveyed birdhouses on the Quail and Creek Courses in March, May and August. He reported that more than 30 of the Club's birdhouses were utilized for nesting, producing nearly 120 young! A total of 27 Bluebird houses and five Purple Martin houses were used. Brian also observed an American bald eagle (see cover) while conducting the survey. "Wildlife and Habitat Management" is among the criteria for certification in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf. Our Club is actively pursuing certification, which also requires efforts in water conservation, chemical use reduction and safety and environmental planning.
We Want to Hear from You! Submit your comments about the Club through our Ombudsman Program. Your suggestions will be reviewed and you will receive personal followup. Anonymous comments are also welcome. ON THE GREEN
‘Building the New’ on a Strong Foundation by Mike Dero, Director of Golf It’s certainly going to be a year of big changes at our Club. The Golf Pro Shop is making its temporary move into the trailer next to the putting green at No. 1 Creek and we’re planning a full suite of activities and services to meet your every golf need. Our golf operations philosophy comes from Socrates, who said: “The real secret of change is to focus all your energy - not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” While embracing the changes that lie ahead, we won’t change our focus on Member services. We’re committed to increase the involvement of our professional Staff in playing with Members, teaching and managing the tournaments and activities.
The Golf Pro Shop will still carry all the essential golf items of balls, gloves, hats and accessories. We will offer your favorite lines of women’s and men’s apparel, but with smaller size runs. We plan to host merchandise trunk shows with a wider display of styles - especially during Member-Guest tournaments so that you have an excellent selection of gifts and prizes. In the ‘what’s new’ category, we are now a sales hub for Bushnell Golf GPS - the leader in golf yardage lasers. With your Bushnell purchase, you will receive a free app on your smart phone that provides a complete digital course guide to both of our courses. We also will continue to carry the Laser Link products that many of our Members rely on and prefer.

COURT SIDE
New Pro Shop, New Entryway – Same Services! by Jon Call, Director of Tennis Our trailer has arrived! We are making the necessary preparations and expect to be up and running in early October. The trailer is located on the former Court 2. The temporary bocce courts will be located on Court 2 as well, adjacent to the trailer. The new entrance to the tennis facility is the walkway between Court 9 and the former Stadium Court. With these changes, we will have ten tennis courts open for play. In our temporary Tennis Pro Shop we will have less inventory. We will be stocking accessories such as grips, dampeners, braces, balls, etc., and will also have a small selection of apparel.
We will be happy to special order items for you. Our demo racquet program will remain available as well as our racquet stringing services. My Staff and I are making a concerted effort to keep our operation flowing smoothly during this exciting construction project. We will still offer all of our round robins, league matches and events. Players will find that without the Sports Lounge and outdoor awning-covered area, we will not have a dedicated place for relaxation after play. Don’t worry, we will still offer cookies and beverages before and after your game.
