General Manager’s Letter Let’s talk strategy. Over the past two years that I have been able to serve as the Clubs COO, there has been substantial amounts of change externally that has caused internal change. Our VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) world that we live in is yet more of a reason to make sure that good strategy is in place. What does strategy mean for a Private Country Club? Strategy for a Private Country Club has changed as our world has changed. Financial Strategy. Don’t all Clubs have a financial strategy? The answer is yes, most Clubs do have a financial strategy, but they typically only look at one aspect of the Club, operations. That isn’t enough in today’s world. We need the Board and I to focus on the future of our balance sheet. The balance sheet is the health of the Club financially. Imagine an unhealthy person trying to keep up in a marathon. Near impossible, right? Now imagine a healthy person who has trained for the marathon. They are not only able to keep up, but able to compete. Our balance sheet needs to reflect a healthy financial Club that is training for the marathon that is the Naples Club market. This means that we understand our current position and put a strategy together to improve it. Manage borrowing effectively, improve physical Club assets, improve cash position to be able to pivot as our world changes, etc. The Board, Stephanie Ohloff, and I are working hard to analyze our current position and create the best financial strategy we can for Quail Creek. Chad Schultenover, GM/COO
Membership Strategy. Attraction and Retention are the two biggest pieces to this strategy. Surprising to some, it is not the price of the Club's initiation fee. How we attract members is very similar to how we retain members. The physical amenities of the Club often attract new members to a Club. Our golf courses, sports center, racquet's facilities, and Bocce areas have done just that. Member retention focuses on making sure that those amenities stay relevant to the membership and keep them coming back regularly enough to have value in the Club. This is the area that the Board and Strategic Planning Committee stay focused on. Club management focuses on implementing service components to support these amenities. Our staff that creates and delivers these services are vital to the overall membership experience. A strategy to retain and attract great professionals is important in today’s world with one of the most challenging labor markets ever seen. Leadership Strategy. This may be last in this article, but there is no doubt that this is one of the most important strategies for the Club. Our volunteer leaders for the Club are critical to the Clubs cohesion and success. Having a diverse Board made up of not only different demographics, but also different expertise is a must. These leaders represent the membership and must have the ability to think strategically to make sure that we retain our current members and attract others. They have to understand the Club industry and challenge ideas in order to make us successful in the future. Our nomination committee has historically met briefly to conduct a search for members willing and able to serve in the capacity as a Board member. The Board is challenging that concept now and considering making this a year-round committee that actively looks for members versus passively waiting for members to show interest. This means that we can seek our areas of expertise needed versus hoping that someone shows interest with that expertise. Since my arrival we have been in the position of pivoting from all about operations as a leadership group to strategy. You can see why this is more important now than ever given our VUCA world that we live in. I am very happy to serve as your COO and work with the Board towards a better tomorrow. As we develop these strategies, we will communicate them with the membership knowing the importance of staying informed as we move forward in the new year. Sincerely, Chad Schultenover, CCM GM/COO

Membership Hello from the Quail Creek Membership Team! Happy New Year! We hope that you had a safe & enjoyable holiday season with your family and friends. We look forward to seeing you around the Club enjoying all of the social, dining, golf, court sports, kids, and other special events in store for 2022. Tracey Maranto, Director of Membership tmaranto@quailcreekcc.com 239-254-7423
We are FINALLY able to host some "New(ish)" Member Mixers – planned for January 26th & March 2nd. We say “New(ish)” because many of you joined while there was a change in the Membership Team or during the start of Covid. Not an ideal time to get integrated and meet people, and it prevented us from hosting events. We will send invites to those who joined Quail Creek in 2020 thru now to select the date you’d like to attend. Be safe & well Tracey Maranto Membership Director

On The Green
Jon Balyeat, PGA Director of Golf
It is time to transition away from 2021 and look ahead to the new year. We are looking forward to continuing our growth as a Club and providing a fantastic experience for all our Members and Guests. Continuing into our 40th Anniversary year, it is important to reflect on where we have been and where we are going. 2021 was a year to remember, as we saw dramatic increases in rounds played, an accelerated rise in memberships and a Golf Waitlist for only the second time in the Club’s 40-year history. Along with all the positives, we are still experiencing challenges regarding staffing, supply chain delays and the ability to place custom orders. We are committed to providing the best possible experience as we work through these challenges as a team and have done all that we can in preparation to ensure you are impacted as little as possible.
As we enter the new year, we are excited to continue our Association events, which have all started with record numbers. The Women’s Golf Association (WGA), Lady Niners Golf Association (LNGA) and the Men’s Golf Association (MGA) are committed to providing high quality events with updates and improvements for 2022. Our Associations are a great way to strengthen and expand your friendships, while also competing in unique events with fun and exciting formats. We are encouraging all new Members to join an Association and get involved with these great offerings that set Quail Creek apart from other Clubs in the area. Along with our Association events, we are excited to offer an array of Club events in 2022. We will host our traditional Fun Sundays, Nine and Dines, Mixed Pinehurst, Mixed Member-Guest and Club Championships this year. Make sure to check the full golf schedule and mark your calendars for all events you wish to participate in. Premiere Club Events: Men’s Senior Club Championship: January 21 - 22 Men’s Stroke Play Championship: January 29 - 30 Mixed Member/Guest: February 6 Mixed Pinehurst Championship: February 27 Men’s Invitational: March 10 - 12 Club Championship: March 26 - April 3 Couples Club Championship: April 10 We recognize the importance of the Professional Staff spending more time with each of you throughout the year. We are continuing our Play with the Pro series January through April with all members of the Professional Staff participating. Please stop by the Pro Shop to check all available dates and to sign up for an enjoyable round of golf. We will also reintroduce our instructional clinics this year on a bi-weekly schedule beginning in January. This is a great way for you to brush up on your skills and add a shot or two to your repertoire to increase your performance on the course. The stage is set for this Anniversary year to be the best yet and we could not be more excited. With the addition of our new Members, the continued support of our current Members, the Club’s commitment to providing the best possible experience and the role golf will continue to play over the next several months. I am truly looking forward to sharing a new year with all of you! Sincerely, Jon Balyeat, PGA Director of Golf 8

Food & Beverage Hello Quail Creek Members!! As we enter the full swing of the season, I wanted to take a moment to recognize the Culinary Team at the Club. We have a dedicated full-time staff that works year-round to provide excellent food and experiences for the Membership.
Bradley Fisher, Executive Chef
Coming from Pennsylvania, I had never experienced a seasonal work program or such a dramatic variance in business at a Club. I had no idea what to expect when I was selecting our H2B staff members heading into this fall. To my wonderful surprise, they are AWESOME!!! Five of them are retuning for a second or third season here in the kitchen while three others are brand new to QCCC. Everyone is professional and highly skilled. They all have the Member experience in mind. They have already engaged the Membership at functions such as Italian Nights and the Welcome Back Party. We are looking forward to a wonderful season and are excited to create wonderful experiences for you and your guests. See you around the Club! Chef Brad

Vichyssoise Yield: 2 quarts Ingredients
3 leeks – sliced 1/3 inch thick and washed thoroughly (whites and very light green only) 1 Spanish onion – medium dice 2 Tbsp. salted butter 2 Tbsp. canola oil 4 medium sized Idaho or russet potatoes – medium dice 5 cups chicken stock Salt and white pepper – to taste 2 ½ cups heavy cream Tabasco sauce - to taste 1 Tbsp. snipped chives for garnish - optional Procedure
1. Heat butter and oil in sauce pot over medium heat. 2. Add leeks, onion, salt and white pepper and sweat until tender. (No Color) 3. Add potatoes and stock. Bring to a boil and simmer 40 minutes. 4. R emove from heat and puree mixture very smooth in either and blender or food processor. Check seasoning again. 5. Pass through a strainer and allow to cool overnight. 6. Before serving add the cream and Tabasco sauce to taste. Vichyssoise is a classical chilled French soup. For being simple with so few ingredients it has wonderful flavor and amazing mouth feel. It is an ideal starter or lunch option on a warm summer’s day. The soup shouldn’t be spicy but it should have just a touch of pepper heat in your throat. I would recommend a Chardonnay, Viognier or Chenin Blanc to compliment the Vichyssoise. A nice grilled slice of French baguette will round out the course. Bon Appetit, Chef Brad

5:30pm - 8:00pm: Dinner Stations – Cypress Room 7:45pm: Show on Event Lawn (bring your own lawn chairs) CONTINUUM is the alliance of five Journey fanatics with a single vision: to deliver the most accurate reproduction of Journey songs possible. THE MUSIC ABOVE ALL ELSE. We’re not concerned with tailed tuxedo jackets or scouring eBay for that checker pattern muscle shirt Steve Perry wore in the “Separate Ways” video. What we ARE concerned with, to a near pathologically OCD level, is performing Journey’s music as close to the studio and/or live recordings as possible. That’s not a criticism of those out there that enjoy donning the “Live in Houston ‘81” uniform, but that’s simply not us.
