General Manager’s Letter

Chad Schultenover, GM/COO

It was 1-year ago that we faced reality, COVID-19 was not only going to affect our Club but change the World. At that time, we were all trying to understand the virus and how to defend ourselves. We had no idea the long road we had just started down and how much more difficult it was going to get. While wearing a mask has become much more normal, a part of all of us just does not want to accept this as the new normal. Now that the vaccine(s) are here, we still must work hard to remain vigilant in our efforts to get back to the no masks, and a more familiar tomorrow. I am pleased to see how we have progressed with membership. Tracey and Teri have been nothing short of amazing. The growth that the Club has been in large to their efforts. It also all the members that have helped refer friends and family to the Club. We are very pleased with the help and efforts by those who have helped refer new members. A great Club is a Club that has members excited about what is happening and helps the Club stay healthy by referring members. Our Townhall meeting in January regarding Equity Payout was a great opportunity to present some of the data that the Finance Committee and Board have been working with. It was great to have the feedback from the membership that participated. After discussions at both the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors, the Board has made a motion for the membership to vote and approve the payout frequency to 3:1. All class A members will be able to vote at the annual meeting. We hope that all voting members support the Board motion by voting to approve the change. Our golf courses are still in very good condition given the extra cart traffic that has taken place since December. We must remain as cautious as possible and keep our carts on the path as much as possible and always use proper etiquette. Those with handicap flags need to be mindful of the blue stakes around the greens. Carts are not permitted beyond the stake. Repairing ball marks and divots also helps the course remain strong. A big thank you to Kevin Leo and his team. If you see them, join me in thanking them for their work. Last, we have seen vandalism to the course restrooms over the past several months. Our efforts to determine who is responsible for the damage has fallen short. We do know for a fact that it is children living in the estates. They are out late, 9:30pm-3:00am. Some of them have bikes and some of them are using private carts. If you have any information about the damage to the Club property, please call me to discuss. Sincerely, Chad Schultenover, CCM GM/COO

Membership Greetings from the Quail Creek Membership Team!

Tracey Maranto, Director of Membership tmaranto@quailcreekcc.com 239-254-7423

2021 is off to a GREAT start in Membership. The march is on toward 580 Golf Memberships – the total maximum number for the Club. Our Associate Golf Membership category is full at 80 – with just one more to officially announce when we welcome our New February Members in the next edition of Quail Trails. To all of our New Members – please reach out if Teri or I can help you get better integrated into the Club, or if you have any questions. While many of you were referred to us, several of you found us on your own! Normally, we’d be able to host a variety of “New Member Events” to have you meet other New Members, but it’s still a bit of a challenge. We are hoping to do something once the new outdoor space opens - fingers crossed. Continued thanks for the referrals of your family, friends and neighbors. Quail Creek is a great place to be – thanks for spreading the word! Look forward to seeing you around the Club! Tracey Maranto

On The Green A lot has happened in the world and at the Club in the past 12 months and though many of us did not know what 2021 would bring, it has gotten off to a great start. The last few months have been filled with exciting moments, new experiences and a lot of golf! It has been amazing to see both our new and legacy Members enjoying all the Club has to offer and supporting the game we all love so much. Jon Balyeat, PGA Director of Golf

Golf has given us all an escape from the daily challenges we face, and it has provided us an opportunity to gather safely with our friends and family. Golf at Quail Creek is as active as it has been in years with daily rounds and event participation growing dramatically in 2021. We couldn’t be more excited to see what the future holds in store for the game of golf here at the Club.

Along with the increase in rounds, we have seen an abundant number of players working to improve their game. Whether you utilize our fantastic instructors for private lessons and group clinics, or you are taking advantage of our custom club fitting capabilities, the Professional Staff is here to assist. With the addition of TrackMan to our teaching and fitting offerings, we are ready, willing and able to get you playing better golf now and into the future. If you haven’t taken advantage of these offerings or you are not sure what is the right approach for you, stop by and let us help you through the process. As we continue to move through 2021, it seems like time is going too fast. I know it is hard to believe, but we are entering the tail end of our Tournament season and I hope all of you are excited to compete in the remaining Association and Club events. In light of the cancellation of the Men’s Invitational, we are introducing a new event to the schedule. For the first time, we will host a Men’s Stroke Play Championship to be held on March 19-20. This will be a two-day aggregate stroke play competition with Gross and Net Divisions from all tees. The Overall Gross Champion must play from the Black tees. Another new event for 2021 is the Tough Man which will be played on April 3. This event is designed to challenge all skill levels, while showcasing the Creek course setup in a way you have never seen before. All players will compete from the Black tee and you will have the opportunity to “Beat the Pro” for bragging rights. We have also altered this year’s Club Championships with the addition of a Junior Club Championship and a date change to hold this Championship from April 24 - May 2. The Men’s, Women’s and Junior Championships will all have a Stroke Play Qualifier on April 24 to determine the Match-Play Field and seedings. We hope to increase the field size in this year’s Championship and look forward to crowning the 2021 Champions. Thank you all for making 2021 a great year so far. Best wishes to you as we continue to move forward! Sincerely, Jon Balyeat, PGA Director of Golf 8

Courtside Our season is at full swing and we are excited about the opportunity to show you new programs and events. The Summer weather is behind us and this is the best time of the year to be in Southwest Florida. Jose Pastrello, Director of Court Sports

Our three new bocce courts are almost done, and we cannot be more excited about it! The courts will have an underground water system, which is the latest technology and provides the most consistent play on a Har-Tru surface. Also, the courts will have LED lights, which will provide night play and will be perfect to extend play times. The tennis program continues to grow, and our courts are busier than ever. Our organized games have been strong, and we have seen a lot of new faces on the tennis courts. Our intra-club league has been a great success and we will continue to bring new events to our Members. Also, the juniors have been a tremendous success to our teaching staff, more and more families are on the tennis courts and we could not be happier. Pickleball has been our greatest addition! With all the challenges that we have faced during the summer and COVID in March, we had to postpone our first exhibition. On November 19th we hosted our first ever pickleball exhibition and the event was a great success. We had the opportunity to bring professional pickleball players to show our Members what the game looks like at the highest level. With so much interest in pickleball, I expect great things to happen! The multipurpose lawn is also something that we are looking forward to opening! That will give our croquet players a chance to play on a much better surface. We will also be able to be creative and bring new events and activities into our club. It has been a very challenging year, but I cannot thank you enough for being so kind and supportive of our program! We are looking forward to a great 2021! Sincerely, Jose Pastrello, Director of Court Sports

Fitness, Wellness & Spa

Luanne Smith, Director of Fitness, Wellness & Spa

We are off to a great start in Fitness, Wellness and Spa. The fitness staff is busy keeping our members fit and introducing the new stretch program. Our class schedule has expanded to offer Yoga, HIIT Cycle, Body Blaster, Straight to Core and TRX Evolution. Registering for classes is as easy as making dinner reservations. Go to our website and find the class offerings or go to our QC app on your phone or ipad. The classes open up a week in advance and up to the day before at 3 PM. The class charge is $8 for a 45 minute class and $5 for the 25 minutes classes. Here is a great testimonial from one members about the Yoga classes.

“ Never having done Yoga, I was a bit intimidated to give it a try.

I’m glad I did as I wanted to improve my balance and flexibility. Marti gives very good instructions, but more than that, she provides modifications as needed for different levels of skills and other needs. My husband, Geoff, has since joined the class. These classes have renewed his interest in Yoga, and he claims it has helped his golf game.

– Pat Holmes

Another great workout option is the Springboard Room. If you are looking for a new way to challenge for your body, improve strength, enhance your flexibility and improve your balance, then you must try the Balance Body Springboards. We offer small group classes of up to six people, $15 per person. The room has new wall mounted fans to help with circulation and temperature of the room. The Springboards are equipped with arm springs, legs springs, a roll down bar and a push thru bar. The Springboard is very user friendly and easy to learn but still challenging enough to give you a good workout. If you are looking for a great way to stretch and strengthen your body for any sport or just general well being, without putting too much pressure on your joints then considering adding the Springboard workouts to your current routine. Here are a few comments from our members who have enjoyed working on the springboards:

“ I have been enjoying Pilates Springboard workouts since we

joined QC several years ago. The workouts are a lot of ‘work’ but the benefits are substantial. I am in my mid 70’s and have been able to maintain good core strength(abdomen, back muscles, plus excellent balance). I have also strengthened my arms and legs. Pilates Springboard has kept me flexible and strong, which is a benefit on the golf course and in my everyday activities.

“ I recommend Springboard classes, which provide both strength training and stretching.

I find the exercises are helpful in preventing injuries while playing tennis and pickleball. The instructor keeps the class routines fresh and enjoyable so I look forward to every class.

– Jean Pikus

“ Participating in Springboard classes over the past year or so has improved not only my

core strength but my overall strength, flexibility and balance. Pilates Springboard classes allow for countless exercises in order to get a full body workout. It is a class I look forward to participating in each week. Not only do I feel as if I get a good workout, but we have fun socializing with others in the class while doing so.

– Sally Caron

The Spa ladies have been busy doing facials, body scrubs and massage since reopening this summer. We have added two receptionist to answer phones and help with scheduling. Jackie Slater is now offering the massage technique of cupping. If you have seen athletes on TV with circles on their skin this is from cupping. Cupping feels similar to a deep tissue massage. The technique uses a special tool to create a suction or reverse pressure to the tissue rather than compression. This technique decompresses muscles and connective tissue to pull underlying stagnation toward the skin, so the lymphatic system can circulate it away. You will leave feeling taller and less stuck. Another great massage modality is Ashiastu massage. It is when the therapist uses their feet to apply pressure and to do the massage. The therapist stands on the table and uses the bars on the ceiling to balance. Joan Stagg and Luanne Smith both do this technique. This is what one of our regular clients and event winning golfer’s had to say about Ashiatsu massage.

“ I get an Ashiatsu massage from Joan every two weeks. The deep pressure and Joan’s

knowledge of trigger points helps to relieve my aches and pains from golf and work. Specifically my knees, hips, feet and shoulders feel better and allow me to perform better at work and play better golf.

– Dan Curran

Looking forward to seeing all of you in the fitness center, spa and pool. Wishing everyone continued good health in 2021. Be well! Luanne Smith Director of Fitness, Wellness and Spa

Food & Beverage Spring is in the air and we are happy to be buzzing around the clubhouse; busy with “wining”, dining, and events.

Scott Ross, Executive Chef & Director of Food & Beverage Operations

The Creekside Café is getting its finishing touches and we are preparing to serve you from the new facility as soon as possible. There have been many questions about the type of service we’ll be providing to the membership so I’ll try to answer some questions. Starting with the kitchen, it is completely electric meaning there isn’t a hood system or gas for cooking. We believe this will be more than adequate to service the membership while not replicating what we have in the Greenside Grille and main kitchen. There is a rapid cook electric oven, induction burners, conveyor toaster, sandwich top cooler, freezer, smoothy blenders, soup warmers, ice/water machine, beverage coolers, and a full service bar. Our focus was to take care of quick needs on the golf course, from the sports center and court sports, as well as bocce from the drive up window closest to the golf course. Grab and go style breakfast and lunch offerings in addition to prepared-to-order offerings will be available. On the opposite side of the kitchen under the covered area is the service bar and outdoor seating. The service bar and seating area was designed to service members playing bocce, attending an event on the event lawn, or to service a private member-hosted event. The walk-up service bartender will be able to pour you a draft beer or make you one of your club favorites. Wine, liquor, and beer are available for purchase both from the Creekside Café service bar and kitchen. We’re happy to be able to take care of our members in better ways, and are looking forward to providing you with unique and new-to-you Quail Creek menu items, in addition to your club favorites. Sincerely, Scott Ross Executive Chef & Director of Food & Beverage Operations
