President’s Letter Fellow QCCC Members, I am happy to have the opportunity to write to you with such a promising outlook for our club for the upcoming summer.

John Friend, Board President

I continue to receive many supportive messages and also some different tone messages as to the actions Management and the Board had taken during the continued COVID-19 pandemic. As time has gone by, and due to the “good practices” during the start of the pandemic, we have been able to re-open many of the clubs amenities. But regardless, I would like to assure you all of the ongoing commitment of the Club’s Management team and the Board of decisions that are possible at this period of time to its members, staff and the clubs finances. First, I would like to welcome to the 2020-2021 Board of Directors our new members, Karen Whitney, Ed Dyer and Bernie Hirl. Our Board has, in conjunction with Chad Schultenover, GM/COO a revised Governance Manual that outlines the primary duties to uphold the Club’s Mission Statement. Our Mission Statement is the guiding principle for which the Board of Directors uses to establish policy and in conjunction with Management, provides for effective leadership and governance of the Club. Listed below is your Board and in particular, the committees that you might appropriately direct your ideas to. Sincerely, John Friend

General Manager’s Letter It is now June and I have been with the Club for 5 months. During this time a lot has happened. I have moved my family from Pennsylvania to sunny Florida, became the leader at our Club, and COVID-19 adjusted our everyday lives. Chad Schultenover, GM/COO

I can’t thank all the members enough for the well wishes during our transition to Naples. Katie, Claire, James, Drew, and I have all really enjoyed the weather and all that Naples has to offer. Our new house, which is close to the Club, is slowly becoming home. Your kindness has made it that much easier. Thank you! Joining the Club at the time that I did came with its own challenges. On day one I had to address the notice of two tenured staff resigning, Nick Gray and Wendy Felsinger. I immediately began working with Nick and Wendy to gather as much information as possible before their departure. After their departure, I began to focus on the future and building a new team. Tracey Maranto joined our team as Director of Membership, Teri Brodie transitioned from fitness to assist Tracey as Membership Coordinator. Our two teamed approach is one that is intended to be aggressive to help bring in and retain members. We are developing strategies over the next several weeks to help bring in new members and grow the Club. We are committed to making Quail Creek, THE Club to belong to in Naples. COVID-19 has become a word that we cannot escape. It has affected every part of our lives. Everyday there is new information on what to do and what not to do. The fluidity of the virus and information has been the most challenging part of managing the Club at this point. In many cases we are hearing what the CDC and government orders at the same time the membership is. It often leaves us with little time to adjust and communicate changes to our operation. I know that our decisions have not always been popular, but we have done them with the best intentions and information at hand. What I have discovered about myself, my team, and our membership during this time is that we truly are in this together. We have behaved more like a family than we realize, and we have found new reasons Quail Creek can provide value. I can’t thank you enough for all the support during my transition and this tough time. Stay safe, stay healthy. We will continue to get through this together! Sincerely, Chad Schultenover, CCM GM/COO

Membership Hello from your new Membership Team at Quail Creek. All of you know Teri Brodie, from her 13 years in Fitness at Quail Creek and we couldn’t be happier to have her on the Membership Team! Tracey Maranto, Director of Membership

Teri’s institutional knowledge of the Club and her relationships with all of you, and your families, makes her a great fit in this role. I am new to Quail Creek with a background in sales and marketing and have the perspective of being on both sides of private club membership. Professionally, I’ve served in a membership development role (The Commons Club, Estero) and also personally, as a country club member with my parents in Michigan (Travis Pointe, Saline) and then with my own family in Maryland (Piney Branch, Upperco). I look forward to meeting all the Members in our Quail Creek family. Many thanks to all of you for your warm greetings and especially as we tour prospective members throughout the Club. This brings me to extending a warm, however belated welcome to our newest members. With the transition period of Teri starting at the end of January, my arrival at the end of March, and then the Coronavirus, we are remiss in properly welcoming each one of you and officially introducing you to the Membership. It sort of felt like introducing students at the end of the school year. That being said – we are still collecting a few pictures so that we can send out a proper introduction in the coming months before the start of season. Look forward to these announcements timelier in the future!

Teri Brodie, Membership Coordinator

I’ve rotated through all the departments at the Club to learn all the nuances of what makes Quail Creek such a special place. First it’s our fantastic members and the smiling faces of our staff - and they’ve all told me that it just might also be: Hernan’s famous Quail Creek Bloody Mary, Chef’s outstanding banana bread, our 36 holes of Championship golf, the extensive golf practice areas, spending time on our 15 fabulous new courts with Jose, Kathy and Matt, shopping in the Rotunda, working out on our new Techno Gym equipment or in our new Pilates and Cycling studios, or relaxing in our new Spa and in the steam rooms. For every Member, what brings you to Quail Creek is different, and a combination of so many tangible and intangible things. With learning all that I have in these first few months, I realized our new Members may have a lot of the same questions that I did or might now know of the many great things going on here. Given this, Teri and I are working on developing a more comprehensive New Member Orientation. We are here to help our new(er) Members get more acclimated to the Club, and to help all our Members with any questions! The best time to reach us is Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, as we typically need access to our system, files and other staff in the office to get you your answers. Be safe and well – Tracey Maranto Director of Membership tmaranto@quailcreekcc.com 239-254-7423 Teri Brodie Membership Coordinator tbrodie@quailcreekcc.com 239-254-7418

On The Green We have experienced a time unlike any other over the past few months and the end of the 2019-2020 Season at Quail Creek Country Club will not be forgotten anytime soon.

Jon Balyeat, PGA Director of Golf

The cancellation of the Men’s Invitational, the remainder of our Association Events and the second USGA Championship in three years were all major decisions impacting our Club, but they fail in comparison to the changes we all experienced in our day to day lives. After the Club made difficult decisions regarding the end of our 2019-2020 season, we were immediately faced with additional challenges surrounding the Governor’s order put in place on April 1. At this time, the safety of our Members and Staff became the determining factor in the decisions made moving forward. April 3rd club storage was closed, practice facilities were closed, the Sports Center was closed, the use of Club owned golf carts was removed, and 26 Golf Staff employees were furloughed with no idea of when they may return. In the span of a few days, everything we knew as normal had changed. We discussed best practices with the PGA of America and other Private Clubs, while still independently searching for additional options to expand our offerings to the Membership safely. This was a time without clear direction in our industry, a time that was extremely challenging to navigate and one that I hope we never have to experience again in the future. It seemed as though the situation would not be improving quickly, but with the help and generosity of John Gagne’, we were able to develop a plan to reintroduce the use of Club golf carts. Once the plan was in place, we began to reach out to our furloughed Staff who were eager to come back and do anything they could to service the Membership. After just thirteen days, we had procured the necessary items to safely disinfect our fleet and Club carts were issued April 17. Since then, we have continued to reintroduce elements to the Golf Operation and are working to establish our “new normal”. The Practice Facilities were reopened on May 1st and are in fantastic condition thanks to Kevin and his team. We have welcomed back our Accompanied Guests as of June 1. Although the past few months have been difficult and at times frustrating, they have also given us the opportunity to reflect on all that is important to us. It was amazing to see the continued support for the game of golf, and even though we aren’t riding together in carts, shaking hands on the 18th green or giving high fives for all the great shots hit, you have maintained your commitment to the Club and to spending time with your Quail Creek family. The positives I will take away from this pandemic are the undeniable resilience of our Membership, and the dedication you have for our Club and the great game of golf. In closing, I would like to take a moment to thank all of you for your support and understanding as we work through this pandemic. I know it has not been easy, but I do believe Quail Creek Country Club will be stronger as a whole because of it. I look forward to better days ahead. Sincerely, Jon Balyeat, PGA Director of Golf

Quail Trails ~ Summer 2020

Courtside The past few months have been some of the most challenging months in the tennis, pickleball and bocce industries.

Jose Pastrello, Director of Court Sports

USTA and USPTA have spoken on many different occasions on how COVID-19 has affected and will change our industry and how we can be safer on the courts. There were a lot of uncertainties and certainly a lot of learning throughout these times, but I am confident that we have taken the proper approach towards this situation to keep our members safe! As the courts were closed, we were able to work on some of our summer projects ahead of time, which included pressure washing our canopies, finishing projects on the courts, fixing courts surfaces and dealing with algae. Yes, these were days that we did not expect to happen, but we made a lot of progress on projects that we were not able to achieve until now. On May 1st, 2020, we opened the tennis and pickleball courts for use. Restrictions were made to avoid major congregations around the racquets’ facility, and we were very successful with it! Our new tennis and pickleball courts layout have so many entry points and walkways and it facilitated our reopening plans by providing our members a safe environment. Hand sanitizers and Clorox wipes have been provided during the day and we have been sanitizing the entire facility several times a day. The tennis courts have been extremely active in the mornings and our membership could not be happier to be playing again. Our new courts with the underground water system have kept our courts in great shape and have brought a whole new level of surface consistency not seen at the club for years. As the rainy season is fast approaching, we are feeling very optimistic that the thunderstorms will not affect our courts as our new draining system works extremely well. Our 9 courts have been utilized daily and social distancing has been respected. Pickleball is finally back and we can just feel the excitement coming from the courts! COVID-19 did affect our plans to provide many different events for the year but we are very excited to see our 6 new pickleball courts being utilized in the mornings and evenings! We have turned on the lights again to facilitate evening play as the heat of the summer is making it harder to play during the day. There is no question in my mind that pickleball will be a great success in our club and we look forward to building the best pickleball program in Southwest Florida. As the summer approaches, stay tuned for upcoming events as the CDC releases guidelines to keep our Members safe and healthy! In closing, the Court Sports Department would like to thank all of our Members for your continuing support. We feel very fortunate to have such amazing membership and we look forward to seeing you on the courts! Sincerely, Jose Pastrello, Director of Court Sports

Fitness, Wellness & Spa This is a year of so much change for the fitness, wellness and spa team. We arrived in December ready to serve the members and their guests in our state-of-theart fitness center and full service spa. The response has been overwhelming. We have grown the class offerings, the staff and the spa services. We were in full swing when the pandemic hit. No one wanted the fitness center to close. Members come for the sense of community, friendship, and general well-being. Most people do not think they like to exercise, but are happy to be here when they arrive! Below, and on the following page, we wanted to share some of the tremendous feedback we have received.

Luanne Smith, Interim Director of Fitness, Wellness & Spa

The benefits of our fitness center goes well beyond the physical! A big Thank You to all the members who are social distancing, being mindful of the hygiene guidelines and for helping us to maintain the standard of cleanliness that we are known for here at the Club. Be well everyone. See you in the fitness center. The Fitness, Wellness and Spa team

It’s great to be back in the fitness center again! I bought some weights and some bands and an upright bike after the fitness center closed. I worked out every day alternating cardio and resistance training, but it’s just not the same. There is so much more you can do with all the free weights and the machines in the fitness center. There are plenty of sanitizers, both sprays and wipes and people are maintaining social distancing, not that it’s ever been crowded in there. I know some other clubs have held off opening, but I’m glad we didn’t. It’s great to see people I haven’t seen in weeks and be able to workout in such a pristine facility.

Thanks for being there.

Delighted Fitness Center is open. You get into a routine which as hard as you try is difficult to maintain from home. Great to see Luanne, Joan & Rob again daily.

What the Fitness Center “means to” Dick and me can be summed up in four categories, Health, Instruction, Classes and Friends. As a diabetic, Health is of particular importance to me! With the excellent individual instruction (quality, well trained instructor that take a personal interest in each member) combined with the diversification of classes, the overall management of my health has been greatly enhanced by my workouts and individual instruction at the QC Fitness Center. While Dick and I most assuredly go to the Fitness Center to work out, there is a wonderful, friendly element that exists at the Fitness Center. This makes it easy for like-minded people to share a common purpose; from which many friendships have been created! We are so very glad that the Fitness Center is open again. Thank you for being there and caring.

- Karen Jury

I was so happy to see our fitness center reopen. I know everyone was worried about the corona virus and it had to be closed. During that time I was able to put a workout routine together with elastic bands, situps, push ups and walking. It was ok, just not manly. When you work out you want to hear weights banging against each other, people grunting and straining with pain and exhilaration plastered all over their faces. I even miss the smells! When opening day finally arrived I got up early, skipped coffee and headed to the fitness center. After all, there was a limit of 52. I just knew it would be like Sam’s. A line of QCCC exercisers desperate for their workout fix. I would not have been surprised to see a police presence. Clearly not everyone was as excited as I was. If you have any fears about the fitness center, rest easy, There are plenty of wipes, sprays and paper towels to keep all the machines clean. The staff is cleaning and every person working out is following great cleanliness standards and all safety protocols. Don’t wait any longer, give yourself a break and get back into the fitness center, It will do your mind and body good. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Food & Beverage It’s been said by many well-known, successful restaurant and club chef/directors throughout the past 62 days that the concept of luxurious hospitality has been completely inverted. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the model. Minimal contact and six feet apart isn’t the traditional country club model. No more handshakes, all you can eat cookies, or endless soups at lunch. To remain relevant, we must represent safety and sanitation; we must represent comfort and reliability. We must help you understand we are your sanctuary during these tough times. Scott Ross, Executive Chef & Director of Food & Beverage Operations

On Thursday, March 12th, our normal private country club lives changed forever. Your food and beverage team began restricting portions of its services for the safety of all. Self-service, quite possibly, became a thing of the past and tougher times were ahead of us. On March 19th, we restricted all access to the food and beverage areas to food and beverage employees only. Both kitchens, loading dock access points, and dining room entries were secured. Keeping the staff in a safe work environment during quarantine times was key. The kitchen is sanitized daily. Door handles, touch surfaces, phones, and restrooms were monitored constantly. On March 20th, we launched our Club Pantry program providing much needed, reasonably priced, grocery and paper supplies to our membership. The options included curbside pickup at the lobby or delivery if you lived off Valewood Drive. The Club Pantry, along with the 750ml Features, became an instant success and kept your staff busy enough to continue working and providing for their families. Our momentum for the season was taken from us swiftly. There was nothing we could do but adapt and overcome. Almost instantly, we were noticing inconsistencies in our deliveries as purveyors began to tighten their ropes. Our deliveries were cut, a drastic change from the 6-7 days a week we are used to. The way we were ordering, storing and preparing food for you changed right along with the way we were serving you. We struggled to find seafood. In many cases frozen or not so fresh were our only options. On April 10th we launched our Gulf-to-You program with Captain Dilly. Less than 6 hours out of the water in some cases, his seafood, without question, is some of the finest I’ve served in my career. April 12th was a special day for a lot of us. Some of the membership received their Easter brunch or dinner in a to-go container curbside. Serving Easter in containers was a first for us as well. It was a much different day than we were all used to – I believe we served 167 meals – about a third of our typical Easter Sunday at Quail Creek. Through virtual wine tastings, cooking videos, and frequent phone calls, we tried our best to stay connected with you. Throughout these challenging times your F&B team responded and served. We used our experience and training to provide for you in the best way possible: safely. With phase 2 of the states re-opening plan underway, I will describe to you what exactly your F&B team is doing to be responsible and safe in addition to occupancy rules. These are the basic levels of cleanliness and sanitation that are standard practice at your club.

Handwashing

Handwashing is required for all F&B QCCC staff at least every 30 minutes, if not more. Hands must be washed thoroughly, and each finger must be washed individually, including under fingernails. Warm water and soap, washing for no fewer than 20 seconds before rinsing.

Hand Sanitizer

Staff is encouraged to use hand sanitizer throughout their shifts. Hand sanitizer is available in abundance in multiple locations throughout the clubhouse and dining rooms. 12

Quail Trails ~ Summer 2020

Masks

All service and kitchen staff are required to wear masks while preparing for and serving members.

ServSafe Certification

There are 4 certified managers/trainers at QCCC with 2 more being certified during Phase 2. For more information visit www.servsafe.com. Most of your F&B team are state certified food handlers with training towards the best practices in safety and sanitation.

Greetings

It is important for the staff to greet you. Acceptable greetings are verbal, head nods, and smiles.

Health

Physical contact between employees is limited to elbow/foot touches for warm welcomes and fond farewells. No hugs, handshakes, fist pumps, or high fives are permitted. We strongly discourage travel for our staff. Our daily routines begin with the F&B managers monitoring the health of our employees. We have and will continue to police employees with symptoms and act swiftly when needed. No place mats. One-use menus, chit books, and pens will be used in the dining room at this time. All tables, tableware, and chairs will be completely sanitized between usage with COVID-19 approved spray and one-use towels. You will always sit at a clean, sanitized table whether indoor or out. Safe seating is available indoors with new seating diagrams. We’ve removed tables and chairs and measured the distance between them. Outdoor seating has been measured as well.

Menu Management

No buffets until further notice. In the future we may be able to provide staff attended action stations. We have reduced sizes of our menus to improve efficiency and help manage food cost and waste. We will maintain curbside offerings in addition to the a la carte services we are currently providing while awaiting more state mandated information in phases 3 and on. In closing this pandemic has sparked change in the department. As you know well, change is difficult for many to handle. It’s fortunate for you that you have employees that foster the actions necessary to create a different, healthy, and safe place for you to enjoy. Your club is your home away from home and we always want it safe and healthy for you. My staff and I are proud of the environment we create for you to enjoy and that, I know, will never change. We look forward to serving you soon and often at your Quail Creek. Sincerely, Scott Ross Executive Chef & Director of Food & Beverage Operations

Communcations & Marketing Communication is always important, but during the last few months it has been a key factor to help us all stay connected and informed.

Donna Blais, Director of Communications & Marketing

As everything around us shut down, our departments continued to create ways to reach out and try to have some fun despite the fears. We held a virtual wine tasting, created fitness videos before the quarantine, called for our Little Artists to create children’s art, and even emailed a puzzle to introduce the new membership team. Our departments turned to Zoom meetings to plan for next year’s events and assembled the take out and delivery programs to be certain food and essential items were available to our members. Planning these programs came about quickly and we hoped they brought some happiness to you during such an uncertain time. One of the biggest projects through all of this has been our new website. In terms of technology, our current site is considered very outdated. It has been fixed and repaired many times, but in the end it’s like one of our old buildings, it just needs to be torn down and rebuilt. Working with Member’s First, our new club website provider, we rebuilt our new site from the ground up. Modeling the design of our site after other exclusive clubs and resorts in Florida, our public side will showcase all of our amenities and attract new members. It will be a key marketing tool for our membership team and will provide a prospective member with more exciting and current information.

A Naples company, Ecco Cinematics, was hired to take professional photos and videos of our events and spaces They began to come out mid season and took some fantastic footage. But like everything else, we came to a quick stop and put the filming on hold. Once the Governor allowed us to open a little more, we asked them to come back and finish the filming. If you were around campus in late May you might have seen the crew with their gear and the drone overhead. We staged the dining rooms in full event styles, and asked some of our members to be models. We covered all the areas indoors and out, and had a great time in the process. Our spaces had never been documented in this much detail before, so it was important to show our entire campus. The private membership side of our site will be much more user friendly and organized. There will be a way to pay your statement easily and all bookings and reservations will be available under one tab. The mobile site will be just as elegant and organized as the desktop version. We will also have a new Mobile App! The app will be available to download through the iTunes and Google Play stores on your phones. This new app will have all the important features of the website, like booking a tee time and making a dining reservation. We are excited to have the new site and app roll out mid July! Once we are live we will coordinate times for members to bring their phones and tablets to go over questions with our staff. There will be many opportunities for all of your questions to be answered and we look forward to sharing this exciting experience with all of you! Stay safe and healthy – Donna Blais, Director of Communications & Marketing
