President’s Letter

A Message from the President Let me start by acknowledging the patience our year-round Members have shown with the disruption during the summer months, particularly with the changes to the parking lot and the front entrance. Very soon we will all see that the inconvenience was worth it. For those of you who have been away this summer, just wait until you drive through the entrance and look to your right. The view will leave you breathless. Our major capital projects will be completed this season as promised. I am pleased to announce that: • The renovated main Clubhouse entrance, including accessible handicapped parking spaces and new ramps to enter the Clubhouse, will be completed in October. New landscaping at the bridge entry and the entries to the Clubhouse and the Sports Center & Spa will become a reality. • The Sports Center & Spa will open in November. Our new facility will include the rotunda with our sports merchandise, a “Grab and Go” counter for snacks and drinks, as well as access to all our talented sports professionals and our new Fitness Center and Spa. The Fitness Center and Spa will showcase state-of-the art fitness equipment, rehab services, spacious classrooms and studios, men’s and women’s day locker rooms with steam rooms, a refurbished pool area and covered seating for those watching court sports and/or the Driving Range. And, let’s not forget our new Cart Barn with easy access to carts and equipment as well as a much-improved area for dropping off clubs. • By December we will have nine new tennis courts, including an exhibition court, next to the viewing area in the Sports Center and, a new addition, six pickleball courts. • In December, the new Greenside Grille kitchen will open and the transformation of the dining options on the lower level will be complete. • Later in the season, the current Cart Barn and old Golf Pro Shop will be demolished, making way for the new Creekside Café (Halfway House), a full-size croquet lawn, three bocce courts and a gas firepit. This is expected to be completed in the early spring. The Board and Staff are hard at work ensuring that the Member experience is second to none. We have planned a celebration of the new amenities in January when most Members are back and can share in the excitement of the new facilities. My heartfelt thanks to the Strategic Planning Committee and, especially, to the Construction Committee ably led by George Domurot. We would not be in this position without the many hours spent by our volunteer leaders and our contractor, Don Garrett, and his staff, our architect, Adrian Karapici, and our interior designer, Migena Gace of Peacock & Lewis, as well as the many sub-contractors. While the renovation has been the most visible of our accomplishments this year, your Board and Committees have been working on other important initiatives. • The Membership and Communications Committee, chaired by Tim Reid, is working with Wendy Felsinger, Director of Communications & Marketing, and Ian Coleman, Director of Membership, to develop a strategic marketing plan for increasing and retaining Members. They will be taking every advantage of our new and existing amenities and look forward to your new Member referrals. 2

Finally, I would be remiss if I did not encourage all Members to volunteer to help us prepare for the 6th U.S Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship, a major USGA event, which will be held at our Club on April 25-29, 2020. This event will showcase the “new” Quail Creek Country Club and we all need to pitch in and make sure it is a success. The Board and the Staff are dedicated to making sure that the 2019-2020 season is the best any of us have experienced. With your continued support, I have no doubt that we will achieve this goal.

Courtside By Jose Pastrello, Director of Court Sports at Quail Creek Country Club As the construction of our new tennis courts are progressing, we look forward to the upcoming season at Quail Creek! The tennis and pickleball courts are the first phase of the courts construction, with Bocce and Croquet following right after. Our summer has been very active, even though we are limited with courts, we were able to keep all of our round robins active. We also visited Wyndemere and Quail West Country Club during the summer break and played on a fun but competitive round robin. We are excited to have added Matt Kuk as our new Head Racquets Professional to our staff to work along with Ben Berven and myself. As the season approaches, and our courts keep on progressing, we look forward to the new events of the year, including (but not limited to):

Quail Creek offers a competitive form of croquet called “golf” croquet. This easily learned game combines golf putting skills, pool shot skills and chess strategies in a very social atmosphere. It is a natural carryover sport that can be enjoyed for a lifetime. It can be played in doubles format or singles, and women compete equally as well as men (or better sometimes).
