Hello! I am Jaqui (some still call me Jaquelina Romero), I was born on September 24, the year the man arrived on the moon. I worked as an Editor for a long time and I am a Graphic Designer, but I also write stories, including: How to care for a unicorn; I am Pablo Penalti, a footballer; The Witch Tula and the Sleeping Prince, The Last Dragon and Little Red Riding Hood and the fearsome and terrifying Wolf, among others. I grew up in Castelar, a town in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but I currently live in the Dominican Republic, where I learned, that without departing from the Spanish language, we can expand our vocabulary with curious new words that you might find in my books.
» THE LAST DRAGON
Jaquelina Romero illustrated by Laura Aguerrebehere
In the village of Birka, where the Vikings lived, there was a gift shop. Hugo loved to go there and look around the basket with “Dragon Eggs”, eggs that were actually stones that were sold as souvenirs to tourists. He bought three: two very heavy and one strangely light, and at night he placed them near the stove in his house. In the middle of the darkness and the silence, a strange noise was heard ... as if an egg had begun to shell.
Suggested for kids from 6 to 9 years old. Colorfull illustrations and more elaborated stories contribute to help iniciate reading habits.

Olga Drennen I liked reading as a girl. It seems I was a little “swallow”. I loved the books and play that I was Sandokan’s girlfriend. She admired Jo, that of Little Women, because she became a writer. But I did not want to be a writer because I had trouble writing. I do not say books, I say words like “bear”, for example. But well, as no one is born knowing, one day I learned and here I am, as a writer; And even won some prizes. I write poetry, short stories and novels. Some of my books are Shadows and tremors, Merlina and the dragon, Come and see, Down with the fears! And Ardio Troya, among others. I also translated charming stories like The Wizard of Oz, and some of horror like Where the ghosts live.

Mariela Peña My mom says I learned my first words before I learned how to walk, that I took book to my bed before even knowing how to read, that I wrote poems on encyclopedias before learning how to cross the street alone. She surely is exagerating -you know how mothers are-, but it’s true I always loved words: saying them, hearing them, writing them, reading them, playing with them as if language was a rubik cube in my hands. That’s why from the first moment I knew I wanted to be a writer when I got older. Words are freedom to me. Today I work as a writer and I organize literary encounters with young people and adults, in Argentina and Uruguay.
