Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well during our last weeks of summer as we transition into our new school year! It’s unfortunate that we will be going with a full-online school setting but it is best for all of our safety. I’m glad that we were able to have our second service event of the term! While the attendance was less than before, we all had fun and that is all that matters. For those not aware, our second service event was our Linked by Love event where we made bookmark-length strips of brown paper encoded with messages of love, peace, and unity that will be sent and become a part of a 110+ mile long paper chain. Stay safe everyone and I can’t wait to see you at our future club and division events! -Matt Hui

Hi Key-uties ! It’s finally August! I hope you’re all enjoying yourselves and making the most out of the summer. This month we’ll be focusing on current activities from your Monrovia High School Key Club, plans for next month’s service events, and tips on how to take advantage of this time in quarantine. Be sure to stay safe and healthy right now. I hope you all enjoy this month’s issue and the hard work put into it! With much love and affection, Rachel LeMay :)

Coloring Pages & Card - Making for the Elderly As the first service event of the summer, fellow key clubbers joined to make crafts for the elderly, and help spread joy especially during these trying times. With the company of Kiwanis advisor, Ms. Gina Willard, everyone was able to gather round (via zoom) and take time out of their day to better the lives of others. Great job guys !

Coloring Pages & Card - Making

Even with such a great turn out from the outset, there’s always room for more clubbers and most importantly, more love and kindness! So please come and join the next event hosted. There are a ton in the making! Get some service hours, make a few new friends, and help brighten your community!

If you’re feeling off-beat right now like so many of us are, there are a few things you can do to spice up your time at home like....

âž” Get Outdoors ! Sometimes staying cooped up in a house all day can get overwhelming. Take time to get some fresh air. Maybe start by going for a walk or even ride a bike around the block. Stretch your legs, clear your mind, and enjoy the scenery!

➔ Find new hobbies (or revisit old ones) We’ve all had hobbies we enjoyed before we figured we got too busy for them. Well now there’s no better time to reunite with our lost loves.

Or.. try taking up a new hobby! Something you’ve always been interested in? Maybe you’ve had a secret love for painting or you’re finally ready to dive into your basketball career. Either way, now might be the perfect time to brush up on those skills :)

➔ Focus on Self-care Now that you’re staying at home, there’s so much time to truly center on YOU.

Invest in some healthy habits like drinking eight glasses of water a day, exercising, or even revamping your skincare routine lol And don’t forget Netflix! Right now, some tv might be exactly what you need. An entertaining distraction to keep your mind and emotions at ease. Take care of yourself <33

@monroviakeyclub Thanks for reading luvs !! I hope you all enjoyed reading this month’s edition newsletter! Just because we’re distanced physically doesn’t mean we have to be distant at heart. Take some time to be kind ! See you next month <333
